Proposal WA Goodwill Ambassadors

Description: Recognizing that prominent members of the world community may have a better ability to promote and support causes which are often times forgotten by society;

Recognizing that Goodwill Ambassador would have a positive effect in raising funds and awareness for causes such as Refugee Issues, Children’s Health and Well Being, HIV Awareness, and many other causes such as the promotion of the arts and education.

Recognizing that these Ambassadors would not be a diplomatic position, but provided a platform from which prominent members of the world community can attract funds and media attention to important issues facing the world community and the World Assembly.

Goodwill Ambassadors would be chosen and governed under the following:

1. A nomination for a Goodwill Ambassador will be submitted to the World Assembly as a general resolution to be voted upon by the World Assembly members.

2. The criteria for nomination of a Goodwill Ambassador, will be a person who is at least 18 years of age and posses a prominent position within the world community. A nominated candidate must have the ability to garner media attention and raise funds for the cause to which they are nominated.

3. The nomination for a Goodwill Ambassador must be specific in that all resolution must state a specific area or issues that the Goodwill Ambassador will dedicate his or her time and efforts.

4. All Goodwill Ambassadors must attend a minimum of 5 yearly events related to the issues to which they are nominated to represent. Additionally all Goodwill Ambassadors must make
4 foreign trips annually representing the World Assembly and the issue which they represent.

5. All Goodwill Ambassadors will be appointed to a five year term and may be reappointed to the position by resubmitting their nomination to the World Assembly.

6. All Goodwill Ambassadors will travel with World Assembly staff and all events will be coordinated by the World Assembly.

7. Goodwill Ambassadors is a volunteer position and as such they will not receive a salary and will only receive staff support while on foreign trips or attending an event related to the issue which they represent.

8. All Goodwill Ambassadors will be titled Honorary Ambassador for the World Assembly.

9. Via this resolution the World Assembly will create the office for Goodwill Ambassadors which will support all appointed Goodwill Ambassadors.

It's looks like an illegal proposal to me. It attempts to change the game.

OOC: See... now, this might be a good idea. But not for a GA resolution. You should create a thread in the Security Council maybe, not PROPOSING such a thing... but beginning a discussion on whether or not it is in fact a good idea, and how it would be carried out.

What you're talking about is creating a whole other branch of proposals. Lately, this HAS been happening... but you've broached this idea in the wrong place, and in the wrong format.

There's been a lot of things like this lately... I think the development of the Security Council has caused some confusion as to how the game actually functions, and how limited we are in changing these functions.

Goodwill.. hence means Goodwill, this does not need a Legislation at all.
If I want to send forth a Goodwill Ambassador from my nation to the rest of world, therefore I will.
However if the W.A can and have the right to nominate a nation to be a W.A Goodwill Ambassador, whomever is nominated can be approved by the nations within the W.A, without having a Legislation or watsoever.

I dont see the point of the age limit. As long as the nation has enough influence in both the WA and its region, I don't see a problem of nominating that nation.

what about puppet nations. That is, nations controlled by other, more prominent, nations. Why should they be excluded because they are new, when the person controlling them could be very experienced?

We reserve a Point of Order against this proposal as a violation of WA Mechanics. A resolution in the General Assembly can not create a new type of resolution under the standing rules.
