An Unauthorized Biography of Catherine Gratwick

Judging by the responses in this thread, people have had fun with the Catherine Gratwick character in the past. Although I can't promise that everything about my portrayal will 100% match the character you know & love, I hope it will be a character that posters recognize.

I can't speak for other players, but I'm not going to acknowledge this version as The Real Thing^TM. My characters/government would think she's an impostor and if participation in your RP would be contingent on recognising her as the actual Secretary-General of the World Assembly, I probably wouldn't be able to participate. Changing a canon character and expecting people to recognise it as canon is bound to fail.

The way I heard it, Der Angst was the originator of Sovereign UN Territory*, and named Gratwick as its ruthless CEO, playing off some forum "in-jokes" at the time.

I don't know if he borrowed the name from the issues library, or if the issues editors themselves actually stole the name from UN regulars. Maybe it was a little of both?

I want to say the name was his and she was roped in for issues, but I'm not sure.

One of these days we're gonna have to put together a comprehensive FAQ about WA roleplay and all the various eccentricities and wrinkles on the forum derived from old-skool memes. Inflatable Gandalf, for example. Does anyone still make jokes about that? I still hear about HIPPOS ARE REALLY QUITE LARGE from time to time, but I'd hate to lose IG or Mad Sheep Railgun to the dusty annals of history.
