I've got a few questions. Category? Strength? Why the hell is this an international issue?

In addition to Mr Fibbles questions. I for one am a target shooter, I enjoy the firing range and as an ex cop am proficient in firearms. My son is following in my footsteps and is a dead aim with a 9 mil.

Where does that leave us dearest delegate?

Hold on, buddy, I have seen various issues debated by the World Assembly that may or may not be international issue, but this one is certainly not. So all nations have to stop using guns right away? I think we should leave it among themselves to decide, at least for now.

Although guns are banned within the borders of Araraukar, we wouldn't presume to dictate how other nations deal with their guns. As long as they don't bring them here, we're quite happy.

So, a ban on using guns for hunting? Opposed.

The only exception of this act be armed police officers and the military servicemen and servicewoman serving their nations in war.
Oh, and forbidding member nations to train members of their armed forces with guns before they get involved in any wars should be enough to get this proposal dismissed under the 'Bloody Silly' rule!
(Also, there's a probable [illegal] overlap of categories to include 'Global Disarmament' as well as 'Gun Control' involved in this aspect of the proposal.)

While we sympathize with the goal of reducing the number of weapons in the world, it is our belief that this draft represents severe overreach in two areas. First, banning all public ownership of firearms prevents legitimate uses for such weapons, as others have pointed out. Hunting, and personal defense, are two of those areas.

Second, in imposing a mandated punishment of "immediate imprisonment for life" for violations, this draft not only grievously interferes with the legal systems of member states, it also violates all common sense. It represents an inhumane solution to an inhumane problem.
