Erm....what? Are you proposing something? If you want to create a law, you're in the wrong forum. If you want to condemn a nation, you may want to try making that a little more explicit.

While your nation may respect the cow, I don't feel like it should stop others from killing and eating cows. It's limiting the rights of other nations just because your nation feels that it's morally wrong. Sorry, don't see this passing.

Moved, SC  GA.

Folks, it's rather obvious that this author is not a native English speaker. If you're not interested in helping him with his proposal, don't spam the thread with pointless idiocy.

Esteemed representative of Varnashrama Dharma,
If your great nation respects the cow, you are more than free within your own territories to impose the regulations you submit to us of the world forum.

That said, I fear suggesting a world wide ban of killing cows and eating their meet is unlikely to vote yes.

May i suggest marking the cow as your national animal. In time you will have the option to protect its species and accomplish your goal within yor own obviously religious and sacred nation.

This may work better in your favour.

Peace be with you from the Acathean people.

As I understood it, this proposal would be to ban both eating beef (and veal and whatever you want to call cow meat) and killing cows in general. Additionally it mentions that "civilized people" are vegetarians, or lacto-vegetarians.

Putting aside proper language for a second, why would "don't eat cow" equal to "don't eat any meat"? There's poultry and pigs and fish and insects and all sorts of other sources of animal flesh.

How nice that some people and nations decline to eat beef, or any meat. Splendid for you, and we are certain it provides you with endless opportunities for self-righteous smugness. Many other nations, on the other hand and such as ours, do continue to eat meat, and feel no guilt about it whatsoever. This is not an International Issue.
Everything you know about me is wrong. Or a rumor. Something like that.

If you want to consider a cow to be sacred, fine. But I'll continue to worship cows in my own manner, by eating them.

But beef and cow's milk provide wonderfully cheap, nutritious, and delicious food. Furthermore, what are the Samaritan Jews in my territory going to do for sacrifices? They have every right to slaughter cows under my nation's constitution.

Furthermore, the killing of animals for practical means does not violate natural law. After all, you kill chickens, I'm sure. For rotisseries, chicken sausage, that sort of thing. What distinct, natural difference is there between a cow and a chicken that makes the cow something that ought not be killed?

If you believe cows are sacred, that is part of what you consider divinely revealed knowledge, not knowledge learned through reason. True, you may have come to divine revelation through reason. Nevertheless, where reason ends and God begins is where religious freedom comes into play.

The General Assembly, I assume, does not even regulate knowledge on the basis of its simply being rational, and it absolutely has no right to legislate what is or is not divine revelation except when it conflicts with the natural law. Divine revelation is the property of the Church (or religious organisation(s) which regulate divine revelation).

This proposal would be illegal because it violates existing World Assembly law.

From General Assembly Resolution 68, National Economic Freedoms:

REQUIRES that no commerce be generally restricted by the WA unless:

1. Restricted by prior legislation, or
2. The enterprise causes an extreme hazard to national populations

I do not think beef "causes an extreme hazard to national populations."

EXCEPT if someone counts cows as part of their population. In that case, beef eating would be murder, and the farming of cows for meat an atrocity.

By that logic his lordship, one would have to wait for said sapient being to undergo a natural death of some description, this could considerably hamper it as a reliable food source no?

"Or a lawful killing. Alqanian law permits assisted suicide and other forms of consensual killing of sapient beings. Consumption of sapient beings' remains is legal in the Queendom provided the sapient being in question has given informed consent to the consumption prior to their death. This concerns both cannibalism and different sapient species eating each other. Sapient beings who consent to be killed and/or eaten in Alqania usually do so for religious reasons."

I must be sure to have our Highest Lordship, HRM Pip, made aware of these circumstances, he is, by nature something of a curious creature, and I have no doubt will more than likely wish to know more.
