Asking if someone has a mental issue and then asking why they insult you? Really?

If I might intervene as a neutral party.

Alright, this has progressed into a mega-thread of personal insults from both factions, and from the sidelines, it's hard to pair myself with either side. So instead of insulting the author, perhaps we should either state that you are opposed, or offer constructive criticism to the draft.

Yours in pleading,
From the office of,
Mrs. Pamela Howell

If 1204 posts haven't offered enough constructive criticism, then this thread needs to be abandoned right now. There clearly isn't a very productive debate occurring.

Yes, we've been attempting to help starve this thread out by ignoring it.

At this point we're mostly hoping that once the submission fails for the second time this whole thing will just peter out.

I agree, it's just that one third of that is the same people constantly saying no and giving arguements, just to argue. No real points behind them. I got more insults than edits.

I'm not entirely sure why, but this picture and comment made me spit up my apple juice in laughter. What is your opinion on the prostitution matter?
My opinion on this matter is that having seen this issue appear within these halls 4 or 5 times in my memory, and seeing the corpses and blood stains on the floor in the aftermath of each event, we should be leaving this well alone. Discussions like this bring out the very worst in people, and I'd rather we had nothing to do with it.

Nothing in these halls has been as divisive as Prostitution (with the possible exception of Abortion - but it's interesting that the World Assembly has such a fascination with ladies bits).

Personally, nothing in your proposal is new and inspires me to move from my position of opposition which I've maintained for the last 7 and a half years.. But I'm happy to see the Swedish loophole continues to exist. You will not be receiving my endorsement in my role as regional delegate.

Ambassador, I am only pointing out the bad idea behind this draft, not how you defend it. This draft cannot work because of the risk to public safety. Even without this draft it doesn't mean that member states are banned from allowing sex in private.

"I am sure Ms Harper is aware that member states are not only not banned from allowing sex in private, but with few exceptions actually forced to do so by the Sexual Privacy Act. The gnomes do however seem to find it compliant to outlaw business transactions based on sexual services. Also, member states are not banned from allowing sex in public, and there are most assuredly diversity in national legislation when it comes to public safety. As it probably should be.

Of course, when it comes to this draft, Ms Harper and I are in full agreement that it is a bad idea."

Sorry for the short lapse of Mind, honored ambassador, but it is already default that sex-for-cash is up to member countries to outlaw or not. It is a matter for local authorities in Minoa to do this but most Authorities do ban it because of the risks posed to vulnerable and low-income groups.

Really, last time I checked there was no way of knowing who had voted in polls here. But that's beside the point, your poll already has a majority of NO votes, what makes you think a WA vote will go any differently?

While I agree that prostitution should be legalized and regulated, I cannot support this resolution on the grounds that it infringes national sovereignty.

That's one of the most sensible things said so far on this topic.

May I ask - even plead - that all members refrain from complaining about being insulted, and stop insulting others? Then the number of comments per day might be reduced to a more manageable and equally productive none (or maybe one or two). Then, while we say nothing, we can sit back and wait and see if the proposal becomes sufficiently acceptable without wasting energy.

No, it didn't make the quorum...anything that doesn't make quorum after 3.5 days is removed from the floor. What that means is that not enough delegates wanted to see it come to vote.

Best part? Even though he states that governments aren't allowed to stop people from being prostitutes, but encourages us to make additional protocol...technically, unless he specifically states that governments cannot regulate it in any way, shape, or form, we can still put enough restrictions to all but ban it. Think about it: Requiring a minimum age of 500 years doesn't stop people from being a prostitute, merely makes them wait 500 years. According to the LETTER of the law, we can still keep it from happening, and the only way to stop that would be to force members to 100% deregulate it. Can't you just see that going over like a lead balloon?
