Internation Drug Policy Act

Postby Meldaria » Sun Aug 02, 2009 10:54 am

Legalize Marijuana

A resolution to ban, legalize, or encourage recreational drugs.

Category: Recreational Drug Use

Decision: Legalize

Proposed by: Meldaria

Description: The nation of Meldaria would like to bring fourth points that alcohol and tobacco are in most cases more harmful than Marijuana. Our proud nation would like to admit that all recreational drugs are extremely harmful, other than marijuana. We propose that nations legalize marijuana as to allow their people to be free to do with their bodies what they want within limits of course. Alcohol and tobacco are permitted in most countries so why not marijuana. You may make the choice as to how it is grown, naturally or with THC enhancing chemicals, but either way it's not that harmful.

The WA hereby legalizes marijuana.

Approvals: 1 (Confused Deaf-Blinds)

Status: Lacking Support (requires 48 more approvals)

Voting Ends: in 3 days, 10 hours

Outlaw Death Drugs

A resolution to ban, legalize, or encourage recreational drugs.

Category: Recreational Drug Use

Decision: Outlaw

Proposed by: Meldaria

Description: Meldaria would like to propose that all recreational drugs other than tobacco, alcohol, and marijuana be outlawed. Those 3 are not that harmful, while Methamphetamines, crack, cocaine, LSD, Shrooms, etc, are all extremely harmful to the body and should be outlawed in all nations.

The WA hereby outlaws all recreational drugs other than marijuana, alcohol, and tobacco(though tobacco and alcohol may not be considered drugs, they are.)

Approvals: 0

Status: Lacking Support (requires 49 more approvals)

Voting Ends: in 3 days, 10 hours

What do you think of these proposals? They seem reasonable to me. Even if you disagree I urge you WA Delegates to approve them, to give a chance for everyone to at least vote on the matter.

Meldaria, you seem to be pumping out proposals as fast as you can. These proposals aren't in the right format, are illegal for not mandating something for WA nation to do, and will never pass through quorum. I reccommend posting these as drafts, and letting other nations edit them. If you stay calm and resonable then you can come out with a fine resolution. The nation of Malikov will help with this process, if you request it. I see a great writing ability, and ideas in you, and would hate to see it go to waste.

Toothless, both of them. I wouldn't even vote for them if I could as five minute proposals have no place in the WA (as in took five minutes, or less, of work to write)

Sorry, you cannot edit proposals that are already submitted, honoured ambassador. This is why good resolutions go through drafting, in this forum first, so they can be adjusted to the needs of the majority.

Regrettably, these proposals are mainly in violation of the Branding rule.

Because you're the author you're the one that has to edit them. Also, I'm already working on two drafts with Serbian_Soviet_Union, so I wouldn't be able to anyways.

OOC: And almost ended up in the silly proposals thread, luckily I looked to see if these two (and the separation of church & state one by the same author) had threads before I submitted the post.

I really don't see where the WA should be legislating on the use of recreational drugs. It's a national issue. Now, drug trafficking is something that I can see the WA dealing with.

Some nations prefer to keep these substances illegal. Others have them legal. We prefer the latter, it keeps the peasants happy and productive. Nonetheless, we do concur with the good ambassadors here. The honoured World Assembly has no place in dictating such policies. It's time would be better spent on policing the traffic of drugs. The black market is insidious and should be eliminated.

As Delegate of the Heartland, I have to say that I would never ever ever approve any WA proposal which issues a blanket legalization of drugs or alcohol. It is something which is up to the individual country to decide, not the WA.
Everything you know about me is wrong. Or a rumor. Something like that.
