I actually drew inspiration for this from [Real Life], and the penalties for violation are similar to those of the Act as well. What you're suggesting is that I remove the penalties and let the nations decide their own or something?

Look for the reasons WHY the penalties are what they are in RL, and use the REASON instead of the amount of years or money. The reason is more likely to apply to the majority of WA nations than any fixed number.

Liberatarian States wrote:I don't understand what you mean by list code though

OOC: This:

Code: Select all
[box]This is an alphabetical list list:

with subclauses

that you can use

to make it clearer.
[/box]

It will look like this:

This is an alphabetical list list:
  1. with subclauses
  2. that you can use
  3. to make it clearer.

Code: Select all
[box]This is a numeral list list:

with subclauses again

the numbers get added

by the code

just like the letters above.
[/box]

That looks like this:

This is a numeral list list:
  1. with subclauses again
  2. the numbers get added
  3. by the code
  4. just like the letters above.

Code: Select all
[box]You can also nest lists:

but it is generally suggested

that you use

different type of list code

for every different type of sublist

to make them stand out

from the main list

and don't forget the ending codes.
[/box]

It'll look like this:

You can also nest lists:
  1. but it is generally suggested
    1. that you use
    2. different type of list code
      1. for every different type of sublist
      2. to make them stand out
    3. from the main list
  2. and don't forget the ending codes.

Also, wanna be listed as a co-author since you helped with so much?

Nah, helping with wording and giving general advice is just general help. :)

Thanks, I'll try to implement that.

Cool.

OOC: Just lose that part of section two and have the three subsections as exceptions to section one. If you have a look at the passed resolutions, you'll see that mandating specific punishments is not the done thing. Usually, we just the ban the thing we want to ban and leave the technical details up to member states and their local justice systems. RNT suggests that you needn't worry about orcs saying they'll only fine people a farthing if they get caught breaking the law.

OOC: Moreover if a resolution bans X but the nation doesn't fine or imprison enough for X to be discouraged, it's most certain not following the mandates in good faith which would make them non-compliant anyway.

Done.

Fair point.

I advise against. I haven't really looked at this thread yet I will do so soon and offer my feedback.

OOC: Still ignoring fishing, I see.

IC: "Could you finally tell me how to apply this to fishing where the fish are lifted out of the water en masse, with a net, rather than one at a time?"

OOC: Unless you want to get rid of the fishing industry, that's a pretty significant issue.

Maybe do your own research as well? I mean, surely you could find ways to make the resolution applicable to fishing fish out of the water, right?

Hmm... I'll see what I can find on the web.

Fishing

Fishing industry is really important and for some coutries their daily or national meal. I would say fishing for the sake of having fun should only be allowed if the fish is caught and then returned to its habitat; Id like to point out that there are some months where species are mating and thus should be protected and any fishing during their reproductive months should not be allowed and those fishing punished. Also, rare species or endanrgered ones should be protected year round and maybe even talked about in schools/universities.

I would vote for if what I said is somewhat written in this proposal.

Endangered species are already covered by existing GA legislation.

All sapient species of which I am aware are also sentient. As written, this therefore bans warfare (except, arguably, in cases where that is a religious obligation..).[/Zoology graduate]

Specifying the actual means to be used for rendering the animals unconscious before slaughter might not take the variability in member nations' technological abilities fully into account: Low-tech nations might lack guns (or captive-bolt devices) for example, whereas high-tech ones might be able to generate "'stun fields" or use other methods not yet available to us in RL... Also, at least for some species whose members are relatively small (e.g. various rodents , used e.g. as laboratory animals) gaseous anaesthesia might be the best method even in RL. I'd just leave it at saying something like "one of the most painless and non-stressful means that are reasonably practical". (N.B . That wording was only a quick thought, not a suggested "final" version.)

EDIT: Reading through the resolutions passed during my unfortunate absence, I see that both #489 'Ethical Treatment of Animals in Research' and #498 'Ban on Forced Blood Sports' consider this matter in their contexts. (see #489 clause 8.c. & #498 clause 4.c.)
