NO HONOUR, NO-LIMTS, TOTAL AGGRESSION
Blitz. A cruel, evil, and plain dangerous sport designed to test the limits of man. Outlawed in many nations, including New Hayesaliam underground rings of Blitzers play in secret for hand-picked crowds. A combination of fighting, basketball and frisbee, Blitz is the most dangerous game invented by man- a one-in-three fatality rate. But rest assured- the pay is good.
Blitz started in gangland countries as a way to recruit. Some richer socialists of the pre-1929 Hayestolia began their version, and Blitz was born. International teams now vary from gangs, convicts, military, biker groups, and private militias.
Blitz is played in teams of four, usually heavily experienced in martial arts or other fighting techniques, with one reserve player allowed. Teams are only permitted to wear basic groin and mouth protection, in addition to gloves made to catch the ring. The ring is a highly-aerodynamic energized frisbee clone. Caught in the hand, it is thrown through a goal measuring a one metre (three feet) diametre.
The ring cannot be thrown into the opposition goal from behind it if the venue has this design. It must be thrown outside of the "red zone". However, with cohesive teamwork, a team can keep the ring in the offence and rack up points
Throwing the ring through the goal is worth one point. The team with the most points after four two-minute rounds. As Blitz is full contact (minus groin shots and eye-gouging) the game can also be won if all opposing team members are "eliminated". Elimination counts if all four team members are incapacitated, or KO'd, in a round. A round can be played with only one player, but there must always be no reserves if this occurs.
For example, if Team A scored four goals, and Team B scored none, Team A and B would be allowed to exchange their reserve after a two-minute round. However, if Team A had a player incapacitated, he or she would not be permitted back into that game. The reserve would have to play.
Team A may have more points; but Team B can simply win by beating the pulp out of their opponents. However, if a player makes obious indications of surrender or incapacitation; like raising a piece of fabric or yelling they surrender, or simply not moving, they may not be further assaulted; furthermore, they may not resume play or their team will be forfeited.
Players often die. In New Hayesalia over four years, an estimated 231 of 400 Blitz players died in game or in game related injuries. At the sound of the buzzer, all players may not attack others, or forfiet their team. The ring is out of play if in a hand- if in flight, it is recognised as a "dead ring" as soon as it makes contact. This means you can still score after the buzzer.
Another rule: There is no overtime. Ties are entirely possible. Uniforms may be used; but not necesarily. There are no drug tests- so steroids are go.
You can run, pass, and shoot. You can punch, kick, and throw. You can jump, slide tackle, or dive tackle. You can taunt, throw fake passes, and use evasive rolls. You can even pound on an opponent whom you've already knocked down, savagely punching and stomping the poor fool. Almost all these techniques are useful, and knowing when and how to use each of them to their fullest potential will take practice.
