Mais University • 9-2, 1st place Big 11 Conference • After a successful road series, the Explorers were supposed to have two tough games versus second-place Kaldukosk, at home, and third-place Bruxen State, an away match. But when they won both by a combined margin of 52, it became blatantly clear that the Explorers will sit atop the Big 11 for a long time. With a record that is only bested by three other teams in the entire NSCAA, Mais is a strong candidate for a 1 seed in the NSCAA Tourney – though with nineteen games in the season, anything could happen, warns a stoic Zalling Senelo.
V’hai University • 7-4, 3rd place Woodfield Conference • You won’t find a home loss to Ramusok Capital under the Webster’s definition of “encouragement.” But a large win on the road at Qazox-Las Vitas is a much-needed confidence booster for the Perennials, which needed the win to re-claim third place in the Woodfield. Their inconsistency makes every game more and more crucial as they jockey for good positioning in the conference tournament (yeah, it’s a fair bit of time till that becomes a factor, but the tenth game is just as important as the thirtieth in the standings). Atuto Bocebal is praying that the team will get through three easy road games before they return home for a critical game with Saltville State.
Grand Onulei University • 6-5, 5th place Goldsoul Conference • Smashing Colden U at home provided little spark for a school newspaper article. But reporters weren’t very ecstatic to report the Tribals had taken off for another road trip – beginning with a 21-point loss to South Qazox. The loss pushed Grand Onulei down to fifth place, three games behind first-place Silveredge – a team that they will play after visiting a top Goldsoul team, Empyrea. Their performance against top teams has been less than stellar, but Evidol Pentash and the Tribals are doing their best to overcome an unproductive bench and a top-heavy conference.
Ba’natu University • 8-3, 2nd place Azure Skies Conference • The Warriors’ 88-67 win over Mangolana U capped a stellar road series and a spectacular opening third of the NSCAA season, ending the first ten games with an 8-2 record and the Azure Skies’ first place spot. The celebration, however, was short-lived: a late-second half comeback by Gothika State abnormally demoralized the Warriors, and they suffered a six-point loss that have Civil Citizens putting Qazoxians on their hit lists. Ba’natu has fallen to second place, but by no means are they out of the running. Nineteen games are left on the schedule, including one at conference leaders Glasshollow in a few days.
Civilia University • 3-8, 9th place Q Continuum Conference • This doesn’t look like it’s Civilia’s year. They have fallen to 3-8, eternally hanging around ninth place in the Q Continuum. A thirty-point home defeat at the hands of SUoRM didn’t help much. None of Booniness Hofi’s tricks have worked on this starless, de-energized Bears roster. There’s really not much to say about the team at this point.
Regalia University • 4-7, 8th place Carry the 1 Conference • If there’s one thing to take away from Regalia’s last three games, it’s that the games have all been pretty close, even though the Kings were only on the right side once. Defeating Hess by three was certainly a high point, and were it not for Yomudad Gafesee’s leaving the game early in the second half due to a twisted ankle they could have knocked off Oriale. Though the team’s record is poor, anything can happen in a conference that has schools of naval training, medicine, engineering, and agriculture and technology in the top six. Still, the Kings need to make a huge run sometime soon if they want any hope of making the NSCAA Tournament.

Outcry from Crawford University over botched name!
At 5-6 and 6th place in the Q Continuum Conference, the Crawford University Cougars are one of the many Cosumarite schools posting mediocre results thus far in the NSCAA 3 season. However, the Cougars may actually have a
legitimate excuse as to why they haven't lived up to their expectations. Numerous fans have observed that at times, especially in their first few games, the Cougars have looked distracted, or even confused, on the court.
"I don't know, it just seems like they didn't really know what they were doing tonight. Like they were distracted or something. I sensed a whole lot of frustration coming from the Crawford bench" said a disappointed Cougars fan after the 92-67 loss to Arsika Military College.
So what's the cause of this? Crawford's name has been botched repeatedly. Apparently, Crawford University is no longer Crawford University, but rather "Crowford." While this may not seem like a huge deal, it has certainly made an impact on the team.
"We are here representing our school, Crawford University. Not Crowford University. Do you have any idea how disheartening it is to hear
"bucket by Crowford" or
"Crowford with a 4 point deficit" and then look up and see
Crowford on the scoreboard? I'll tell you what, I'm sick of it. I can honestly say it negatively impacted our performance" said Crawford guard Raymond Cook.
Now, if Q Continuum Conference officials had rectified the problem immediately after one game, it would not be nearly as big of a problem. However, this has gone on for 11 games, one-third of the NSCAA 3 season. The incorrect name seems to be everywhere; the TV commentators are using it, the stadium announcer is using it, the scoreboard says it. Even the Q Continuum Conference standings read
Crowford. While this frustrated people like Cook, Coach Samuel Potter refuses to let it be a detriment.
"I've told the guys this several times. Look, it's one wrong letter. How the scoreboard spells
Crawford should not, and will not effect our level of play. Sure it's disappointing. Sure it's a tad disrespectful. But we're going to continue to play Cougar basketball, no matter what" Potter said.
The University of Crawford reportedly filed an official request to the Q Contiuum Conference to rectify the problem after the Cougars' fifth game, but there has been no response as of yet. "Crowford" will contiue its quest to go to the big dance tomorrow night, when they will take on the Oklahoma City State University Coyotes of Carasatoga, which should be an easy win for the Cougars. The game will take place at Cougars Coliseum, and a win could bring Crawford to a (6-6) .500 record after 12 games.

EMPIRE BOASTS FOUR OF TOP FIVE EARLY
Pocono City- Those computer wizards have put together the first official top 10 of the NSCAA season and among the Newmanistanian schools that you will not see are the University of Southport, Tundra Falls University, and Loudon Empire University. But don’t worry, everyone else is picking up the slack just fine, and Newmanistan has been awarded four of the top 5 spots in the early going, led by top ranked Emperor Justin I University, the lone undefeated team still standing. The only team getting in the way of a top four sweep comes from a nation that historically likes to get in our way: Cassadaigua. The University of Brattleboro’s Tech Institute is off to a blazing start in the conference that will constantly remind them of who the #1 ranked school is. That is because they play in the Emperor Justin I Conference. Somehow, somewhere, Newmanistan’s founding father has to be smiling.
As you know, we at
The Rocket Report hired the services of Phil McDowell, the coach of our senior team in the International Basketball Championships who obviously would have a ton of interest in following the trials and tribulations of the NSCAA, at large. We asked him what he thought about this quick start, “There are a few things that you can attribute to it,” he begins, “And I’m not going to start with the answer that you think I will. I think it all begins with the difference between collegiate athletics in Newmanistan as compared to how other nations value it. In Newmanistan, the top athletes of this age group already have their professional contracts, and in basketball, that means they are in the ENBA. (Empire of Newmanistan Basketball Association). This does not mean that our collegiate stars are second rate players, but what they are more likely to be are late-bloomers, and there are a plethora of reasons that could have caused that occur, none of which would have had any direct relationship to their level of talent. Because of this, they are playing to get noticed. By not just me, but for all of the teams in the ENBA, and I tell ya what, this NSCAA tournament provides them with a chance that I think our college kids in other sports would be dying to have. Put that up against the kids from the other schools. They are great talents, and they are also playing for professional contracts, but for them, they are used to be knowing as the “big dogs” of their age group in their respective country. I really think we have a great advantage because of that.” McDowell goes on and gives us another reason that again won’t be one of the answers you might be expecting, “Secondly, we play basketball a little differently in Newmanistan. We have the four and five point line, which means our kids are more confident in shooting from deeper distances, and defensively, they are prepared to defend the ball carrier of the opponent sooner and earlier then what the kids from the other countries are used too. When we get these opponents from the other countries, they are not used to it as much. I know they practice it, but there are just some things that you cannot do against us. Such as a zone defense. You do a traditional zone against any Newmanistan school, we will shoot your lights out from the outside. If coaches insist on a zone, then they must open it up more. When we play likes this in the IBC (International Basketball Championships), the professionals that we are up against us are more experienced and more respectful of the way we play and can adapt. These collegiate teams, well, if our teams our on their game, you better be a well-coached team. Some of these opposing schools are indeed well coached, but against our schools, your coaching staff and scouting need to be as prepared as the players for the differences in our game, if not more prepared.”
So if you thought coach McDowell was going to give us the traditional explanations of our experience of having played in the first two tournaments, well, he says that it helps, but can be a little bit of an overrated reason. The current performances of the teams right now make anyone proud. While we boast #1 Emperor Justin I University (11-0), #3 Pock City Tech (10-1), #4 Jessicaville Law School (10-1), and #5 Southport Naval Academy (10-1), our other schools aren’t that far off either. University of Southport, Loudon Empire, Brighton College, Centralia Empire are all 8-3, Fairfield City is 7-4, and Tundra Falls brings up the rear at 6-5, but the Spirits still may have master plan here, too. It is indeed an impressive start. Guess as coach McDowell says, it’s a little more then just our experience.

Slivelle Academy, CFU looking good in NSCAA 3!
Prior to the start of the NSCAA season RCU, Kaldukosk, and Eastweald were all discussed endlessly by "experts" as the Cosumarite schools most likely to find success. However, so far the exact opposite has proven to be true. Crisalus Fief University and Slivelle Academy are at the moment the only two universities from Cosumar that are poised to make the tournament. Ironically, CFU's participation in the NSCAA evoked much controversy as many felt they were too weak of a team compete. Slivelle's selection was not challenged, but experts feared that they would not be able to keep up in the rigorous Pioneer Conference.
Oh boy, how all of those CFU and Slivelle critics are choking on their words now. Both schools have overcome doubt from even their own fans and have thrived against their foreign foes. Cosumarite basketball fans have now rallied against these two squads, the Fiefdom's best shots at getting representation in the big dance.
The Crisalus Fief University Bears are currently 11-3 and hold the 1st place slot in the esteemed One Big Conference. The Bears are currently on a 6 game win streak that saw them go from 5-3 to 11-3, including outstanding victories against Astern Pont College last night, Porter College, and St. James University. While the CFU's dominance has been a shock to most of Cosumar, the Bears aren't surprised at all.
"Before the season, we weren't listening to all the crap they were saying about us. I love all of the guys on this team, they're like my brothers, and we play as a team. I had complete faith that we would be able to compete with any school in this thing, and I still do" said CFU's star guard Theodore Scandarson.
With over two-thirds of the season remaining, CFU isn't in the clear yet and will have to conitnue playing at a high level to maintain their 1st place spot in One Big Conference. Coach Stephen Wallberg has said he is determined to not let the team get oo overconfident and that they were going to "work twice as hard now." CFU's next game is against University of North Magootz Lions of Lyrcrabon at CFU's own Eddison Arena in Cassandra. Crisalus Fief was defeated by North Magootz by only 2 points last time around. Even with dynamic players such as Scandarson and William Kendricks, this should be a challenge for the Bears. But given the significant momentum the team has at the moment, it seems likely they will avenge their last second loss on MD5.
Meanwhile, the Slivelle Academy Crusaders have been impressive as well, with a 7-4 record and 2nd place position in the Pioneer League. While they haven't had any exteneded winning streaks, they have consistently played well week in and week out. The Crusaders have beaten everyone they were supposed to, their losses have all been to respectable teams such as Rutland and Qazox-Pika City. Big wins include Ithaca Big Red of Virabia and New Washington School of Finance of Sibirsky. Like CFU, the Crusaders aren't surprised by their success and consider it a natural result of their hard work.
"I truly believe we've put in more work than any other team here. It's payed off, and we've been winning a bit. When I look at our roster, there's no a single guy on there I wouldn't trust with the game on the line. We're loaded with quality talent and we'll give anyone a fight until the buzzer" said forward Jack Schmitd.
Schmitd is right, this is a senior lead Crusaders team that has the necessary experience and poise under pressure to go far. While senior like Schmitd and Peter McDouglas have played a crucial role in Slivelle's succes, the real story is sophomore Nathaniel Pace. The burgeoning star leads all Cosumarites with nearly 26 points per game while also grabbing almost 6 rebounds per game.
Even with a beast like Pace, the Crusaders aren't garaunteed anything yet. Although they are 2nd place in the Pioneer League, there are two other 7-4 squads tied with them and a horde of team beneath that, just out of reach that could easily rise up and dethrone the Crusaders. Moreover, Slivelle is actually on a 2 game
losing streak. Just a few days ago they were 7-2 and in a much more comfortable position. The Crusaders need to pick up their play, they really can't afford to continue this unsightly losing streak as the NSCAA committee is already forming its ideas as to who will make the tournament. Their next game is tonight against Bugny A&M of Saugeais.
Until our next report of the NSCAA 3 Season, thanks for reading.

Team by Team update of Cosumar's NSCAA 3 season!
Stoneshore College (Royal Mountain Conference: 4-9, 8th)The Bruins had a very weak 1-4 start and still haven't recovered, sinking to 9th place in the Royal Mountain Conference. Things are looking bleak for Stoneshore and they will need a sizable winning streak in order to have even a slight chance of making the tournament. One bright spot however, came last week in MD15, when Stoneshore achieved a 97-95 win over Lakeview when Thomas Jamison drained a 3 pointer just before the buzzer. Jamison has been the team's savior thus far, scoring almost 20 points per game. I'd hate to think where the Bruins would be without him.
Key Players SF Thomas Jamison (19.1 PPG, 7.2 RPG)
C Jacob Havard (8.9 PPG, 13.7 RPG)
Slivelle Academy(Pioneer League: 7-6, 4th)Slivelle Academy began the season as the most successful Cosumarite team, working their way up to 2nd place in the Pioneer League with a 7-2 record. Since then, however, the Crusaders have lost 4 games in a row to fall to 4th place in the League. Slivelle's decline has been a huge disappointment because at the time it seemed as if they were going to be the only Cosumarite school advancing into the post-season. This prospect is looknig a lot less likely now, after the Crusaders dropped 4 games to Lake Shore State, Bugny A&M, Qazox-Pika City, and Rutland. Nathaniel Pace has been extraordinary, but he's carrying the team right now. He can't do it alone, McDouglas and the rest of the team needs to step it up, especially the bench.
Key PlayersSF Nathaniel Pace (27.6 PPG, 5.4 RPG)
PG Peter McDouglas (8.7 PPG, 12.2 APG)
Crisalus Fief University(One Big Conference: 11-3, 1st)Among a horde of Cosumarite schools posting mediocre or abysmal records, Crisalus Fief is the only team that is really shining. The Bears started off 3-2, but have gone 8-1 since, including shocking upsets of Porter College and St. James. CFU is tied for the highest scoring offense in One Big Conference, due to a plethora of dynamic scorers, especially Theodore Scandarson and William Kendrick. At the moment, the Bears are looking like a shoe in for the NSCAA Tournament, being Cosumar's most successful team. However, anything could happen, possibly even a losing streak like what Slivelle experienced. But after watching CFU destroy Astern Pont 78-57 a few days ago, I have confidence that the Bears can keep this up.
Key PlayersPG Theodore Scandarson (16.0 PPG, 6.5 APG)
PF William Kendrick (14.8 PPG, 7.8 RPG)
University of the Western Isles(Emperor Justin I Conference: 7-7, 6th)Since our last report, UWI has improved considerably, jumping to 6th place in Emperor Justin I Conference and a 7-7 record after their rocky start. The Firestorm are on a 3 game winning streak after strong wins over Esca Capital, Justownia-Minlov, and Edmonton. Although these are all weak teams (making up the bottom three of the conference) it is a good sign that UWI is dominating the teams they should. Tonight, the tough side of their schedule will resume with Lycrabon War College, a team they succumbed to last time around. Jack Pandon has played well for the Firestorm and has emerged as their team leader, something the Firestorm were lacking earlier in the season.
Key PlayersPG Simeon Ash (12.9 PPG, 14.0 APG)
SG Jack Pandon (15.2 PPG, 5.7 APG)
University of Klyde(Octavius Conference: 6-8, 9th)The Klyde Sharks have been one of Cosumar's biggest disappointments thus far in the NSCAA 3 season. Klyde was expected to contend for an Octavius Conference Title but after 14 games, find themselves in the bottom 3 of the conference. In MD14, the Sharks had their biggest win of the season against the highly-touted Southport squad from Newmanistan. Not only did our Klyde Sharks win, they flattened the Newmanistanian school 91-64. However, the Sharks were put back in place two nights ago by Thessia in a heartbreaking 2 point loss. The Sharks have shown signs of their potential, but have lacked the consistency necessary to win. The most probable cause of this is the loss of guard Drew Simmons in MD5. In the first 5 games, Simmons was averaging over 20 points per game. This was a huge loss, however, forward Frederick Johnaimmes has really stepped it up and taken on the bulk of the scoring.
Key PlayersSG Drew Simmons (20.1 PPG, injured)
SF Frederick Johanaimmes (16.8 PPG, 7.4 RPG, 4.9 APG)
Eastweald University(Uniballer Conference: 6-8, 8th place)Not much has changed for the Eastweald Warriors since our last report. They are still 8th place in the Uniballer Conference and still have a below .500 record. Eastweald has lost their last two games Loudon Empire and Parr State, and it's not looking like anything is going to improve soon. The team lacks a clear leader: Sawyer Vyardennir has been the leading scorer but is a problem in the locker room, while Namien Na'Sord has shown signs of greatness but seems far too reserved to be a vocal leader. The sacking of Coach Eddie Winkler after MD12 didn't help either. Winkler has been replaced by Assistant Coach Karl Bontaron.
Key PlayersSG Sawyer Vyardennir (18.9 PPG)
C Namien Na'Sord (11.3 PPG, 10.5 RPG)
Kaldukosk University(Big 11 Conference: 7-6, 5th)Kaldukosk is the reigning champion in Cosumar, so their lack of domination in the Big 11 Conference is the most disappointing thing of all. The Avengers haven't been all
that bad, but have struggled to a 7-6 record. Kaldukosk has dropped in the standings after dropping their last two games to 1st place Bruxen and 3rd place Concord Heights for a combined margin of 25 points. The silver lining has been freshman recruit Gage Heisey. With 14 PPG average, 18-year-old Heisey has been a huge threat to every team, towering over opponents at an astonishing 7"6. Darius Hodges has also played well, and is Cosumar's most accurate three-point shooter, nailing 39% of his attempts. With these weapons, Kaldukosk still has a good chance of making the NSCAA Tournament, but they will need to be a little sharper and get on a good winning streak.
Key PlayersC Gage Heisey (14.0 PPG, 15.7 RPG)
SG Darius Hodges (16.9 PPG)
Ramusok Capital University(Woodfield Conference: 7-6, 6th)The RCU Dragons' path thus far in the NSCAA season is extremely similar to Kaldukosk's. Like the Avengers, the Dragons are 7-6, but are in the 6th slot of the Woodfield Conference. The Dragons are coming off of an impressive win against Concord Heights Beauty School in MD15, after losing their previous two games. RCU will take on Van der Veil University next, whom they lost to 87-81 in MD5. Tonight would be a much-needed win for RCU, one that could hurl them into a winning streak and add some confidence. Ramusok Capital still has a shot at making the tournament but they cannot afford to lose many more games. Xander Unitor has played exceptionally thus far, and with Unitor at the helm, I like RCU's chances of making a turn-around.
Key PlayersPG Montrell Carter (10.5 PPG, 10.2 APG)
PF Xander Unitor (21.3 PPG, 8.8 RPG)
