For a project this, you have to look at more than just yourself. Granted, you did come up with the idea and thus you get some leeway because of that. But, you also have to look at the bigger picture and that is for the majority of people, the weekend would be much more preferable. Especially since people tend to stay up later, and thus we could have more of a chance of contribution from not only our US-American players but, also our European players.

Yeah, and some of us, are a lot younger than others, me being 13 - meaning weekends are a whole lot more preferable than when I'm at school - the fact that Europeans and US/Canada/the rest of the Americas can actually get in contact a lot more at weekends also helps. It wouldn't be good for me on a week night as I've exams coming up, and I need to revise and finish coursework.

Also, I'm not even sure if my laptop has a microphone - I assume it does as I have been able to call someone on MSN before. On that point it'd be useful if anyone wishing to contribute got an MSN/IRC/or similiar so we could talk easily as a group.

Tis' true... mine does, but alas, I don't think I'll be able to do a live show because of potential time zone screwiness.

So I've been hearing a bunch of various concerns about a live show, abd while I obviously want to keep the option alive, I wanna throw out another idea for discussion. Maybe we can make a blog that has a marquee of latest sports, reporters for each tournament, reporters who make cool features based off of suggestions from this thread, etc. While it's not as alluring as a live radio show, it would knock out the problems that come from doing things live with sound (time zones, availability, microphones, et al).

BoI is part of the World Bowl.

Beach and Commonwealth Cups? Not sure.

But then, I'm going off of what I've known of. In the domestic catefgory, perhaps? Besides, my list was merely a starting point.

I'd love to get started on a newspaper-type thing. We can have several reporters for events, even smaller ones if there's that much interest. There definitely has to be several writers for major tournaments like the World Cup and the Olympics.

If anyone wants to write about anything, please post here or TG me. You can be a daily writer for a certain tournament, you can do a weekly or bi-weekly column, you can do a daily or weekly feature - any suggestion is welcome. Make sure that if you commit to a daily report, you meet the timing expectations you set.

We could also do some live discussions, as a feature - but that would take a lot of sorting and would then take in the consideration of timezones/microphones etc, but it'd be a big organization thing. Which adds to the newspaper idea..

So I have a preliminary site up. I was able to put some HTML in to put a marquee of recent scores at the top. I wrote a post as a baseline for upcoming games, and also a regular article on the Beach Cup as a test. There's more that can be done here, but for now I wanna see what some comments are, and also try to definitively sign up some reporters.

If you mean reporting-wise, there are several options for writing:

  • Report about an individual tournament. If you choose this, assume you need to write every day (barring, of course, problematic circumstances). If there's multiple people for a certain tournament - which would be awesome, even if it's a minor tournament - then that eases your workload, though the more you write the better. We definitely need the most writers here; there are always a bunch of tournaments going on, and it'd be great to have several people on a tournament. I will say that it's better to have three people going over World Cup qualifying than one person on WC qualifying, one on the Warkus Cup, and one on the Madball League. Reporting on small events would be awesome, but the biggest tournaments need to be sufficiently covered first. If you want to do this, please specify your activity level for reporting and what tournament(s) you'd like to write about.
  • Write a twice-a-week, thrice-a-week, or weekly column. This could be about anything you want - thoughts about recent sports events, in-depth writing about a certain event, predictions for the future; pretty much anything goes here. However, I can't have too many of these, otherwise there won't be enough about individual tournaments themselves.
  • Write feature stories 1-3 times a week. This option allows for a lot of creativity: you can make a player profile, pretend you're in a certain country at a certain tournament and RP from there, you can interview a manager or player - you can do a lot with this. It goes without saying that this must be within the realm of reason. And again, there can't be too many of these.

And as for the sexiness: yeah, the girls usually say that a lot... oh wait, we're not talking about me? :p In all seriousness, thanks. I'm not exactly a professional website designer, but the formatting was pretty easy, especially for the marquee.

Good idea. Except their are very few sporting storefronts left that are active.

Also, I could write a report about recent sporting events tonight or tommorrow, i'll post my report here when i'm done.

In a perfect world, the "International Tennis Association" which I created will have some tournaments over the summer... I know this may seem really far out time wise. (The reason why all of the tournament will be over is because it seems that there is a lack of interest in reporting scores from the tournaments and the rankings to me, which I simply do not have the time to do myself for all four of our ignagural tournaments).

But that little rant aside, I'd be more than happy to be a head contributor for ITA activities and I'll try to write as much as I can for that website...

Is the website welcome to all contributors, or do I need to submit my articles to you?
