Online Radio Discussion Thread

[Civil Citizenry]

This is just a discussion thread. I had the idea of an online radio show for NS sports; I'm sure that there have been attempts at this over the long history of NationStates. But I wanted to get the opinions of the guys around here about getting something going, maybe daily or weekly. I think it would be pretty fun to have around here. Thoughts?

Could be a report show, different people doing different parts - a couple of reporters for football, a couple for gridiron etc. I don't know - but it'd be pretty cool.

I'm glad to see so much positive feedback! I pondered the subject a little more, and I've got a couple things to think about.

• Will this be IC or OOC? I can kinda see how each would make sense. IC, it would seem a little odd for Civil Citizenry to ask Nation X about this or that; but it's easier for others to recognize participants as Nation X or Nation Y. OOC, it makes more sense to create some fake persona from your nation, but then one would always have to introduce him/herself as Person X from Nation Y.
• Will this be daily or weekly? There's enough to do a daily show, but I'm worried about timing.
• Should this be more like SportsCenter, with more game-by-game highlights; or Mike & Mike in the Morning, with more guests and general discussion?

If I come up with any other questions, I'll post them here. I'm also thinking that BlogTalkRadio would be a good radio host, though they won't allow for shows between 7-11 PM EST unless you pay, which may cause problems. More discussion welcome.

The nature of BlogTalkRadio is, there's one or more hosts, and the show has a call-in number that guests can call - say, if we wanted to take questions from random people, or if we had a contributor who we were going to ask questions or who was going to present a little piece or something. It would all be live, though obviously, as you said, people would need to do research and such for sufficient preparation.

I'd say a mixture of both IC and OOC depending on the situation. I would say sports center and once a week. We could also do a cool feature called Player Profile. Nations interested in the possibility of having a sports player featured on the show could tg one of us a detailed bio/profile of the player and if they were chosen, we would do a short blurb on them.

All the feedback is great. I wsepecially like Erathore's idea, which got me thinking about a weekly 1 or even 1.5 hour show with a bunch of different features. As an example, this week we could have a special on the World Cup, one on how teams are dealing with the WLC delay (which could be RPd as a major weather problem), one on the sport of beach soccer, and an analyst speaking about the RUWC.

Exactly! Maybe with the world cup being a kinda big deal we may need to have 2 shows a week but that's later down the road.
