Tom's Tavern and Boozing Joint, is perhaps the most clichéd bar one can find. Mostly oak interiors, dim lighting, the smell of alcohol, an older bartender and a small crowd of regulars, this tavern has it all. Sure, it's constantly put down by almost anyone who has heard of it and the closest thing it has to live music is an ancient jukebox that no longer works but, it gets the job done. The bartender and proprietor Tom knows his stuff and after a little time with him you'll be as drunk as a clam. A drunk clam!

Tucked away in one corner of the room is a small flat screen TV which shows white with a blue blob in the middle. Or to put it bluntly, skiing, rather skiing highlights. When he's not serving drinks, Tom is very attentive to the screen and so are his customers, when they aren't filling their mouths with the sweet sweet taste of alcohol.

"Come on, fall already!", shouts the drinker on the furthest left. He's a short but lean young Esperanto man with a flowing black mane.

On the TV is Jean-Luc Lacroix, who is twisting and turning his way down his second run of the slalom course. Because of his horrible showing on the first run, he had been all but eliminated from a shot at the top ten and the way this run was looking, he was set to finish behind home-town hero Sócrates Reyes. That didn't stop the negativity that each of the guys sent his way in the hopes that their bad thoughts would cause him to make a mistake and go down.

"Oh, come on Jeanny Boy. Give up and fall already," yelled the same man who chanted before. Despite his best efforts at telekinesis, he failed and a second or two after he finished his last chant, Lacroix finished his run and after looking at the clock promptly held his head in shame.

"Murillo, can you please stop saying 'fall' every time someone who is not one of ours takes a run," Tom said to the patron who had been making the chants.

For a second, Murillo entertained the possibility of fighting back but, he knows how Tom gets when people act up in his bar. He saw it happen just last week with Chris, who sat to his left and after seeing that, he's promised himself that if at all possible, avoid getting Tom mad. So, instead of fighting Murillo just nodded and asked for Tom to turn the volume up.

"Sure thing," Tom said as he reached for the remote.

"And next up here in Kääriäinen is Sócrates Reyes, who is of course for Virabia", as the commentator said that the tavern "erupted" with cheers for the home-town boy.

The commentators on the TV began to have a dialogue about Reyes' recent performance with Colour Commentator Earl Wilkins saying, "He's done rather disappointingly today. On his last run, he just didn't look himself. Each turn took a lot out of him and in the end it costed him."

His play-by-play partner Robert O'Neal continued Earl's train of thought, "Yea, it has. 53 seconds might be the worst performance of his in the slalom in quite some time and it's been rather disappointing. You'd think, with the Olympics, so close, he'd want to be on the top of his game, yet, he's done quite poorly today."

"Oh no, the whole team has. Both men and women. Just disappointing", said Earl, trailing off to at the end.

"It has", agreed O'Neal, "Anyway, Reyes looks to be only seconds away from taking his final run!" The tv, which had been showing B roll of the resort switched to an image of Reyes, attentively awaiting in the start house.

Tom who was feeling slightly benevolent called out, "If Socks can bet out Johnny Boy, next rounds on the house!"

Enticed by the free drinks the small collective of bar goers cheered and almost simultaneously, the gate flung open and Reyes was on the course. Due to the volume in the bar, the TV could barely be heard but, each of the guys (and gals. There were two females there) understood what was going on. All of them cheering on their fellow countryman and in many cases their own friend. Of course, Sócrates couldn't hear the cheers but, even if he did hear them as a voice in their head they hardly could have made his run much worse.

Similarly to his first run, he did not look himself. His turns seemed forced and lacked the rhythm of a successful run. Throughout much of it it looked like he was going to go off the course and there was a point about half way through where he was scarily close to falling. Nonetheless, he finished his run but, he didn't have to look at the clock to be disappointed. He knew full well that he looked atrocious out there but, luckily he was done for the day. The torture was over for him and in three days, he'd get a chance of redemption in Lexington.

Those in Tom's Tavern (Tom included) were similarly disappointed. The entire team had done poorly today and many fans had grown used to the results of the past few races. Results which had helped catapult their beloved nation into second place. In the gloom and doom, though, there was one bright spot. Sócrates had done better than Jean-Luc and keeping true to his word, Tom began pouring the next round.

And who didn't say that beer heals all wounds!

Revelations about the heroin habits of Virabia's Mark Wallace have been swirling about, causing more than one Kelssekian ski racing stoner - won't name names, but his or her home is in the province you're probably thinking of - to get a little nervous given their favoured vice is illegal in a lot of places. But I've also been led to understand that the backchannels at Alpine Kelssek are clicking and beeping and suggestions have indeed been made that Wallace could benefit from Kelssek's top-class drug rehabilitation facilities. Or he simply might like to chill out for a while in a country where heroin is not illegal.

The skiers are now out on a course inspection ahead of super-G and slalom tomorrow. The day after, they'll put the two together for the super combined. Clearly an eye for efficiency, these Lexington organisers.

Jean-Luc Lacroix was rambling on about feeling like he was being nudged into losing his balance by a unknown force during the slalom at Tapuu. He's absolutely adamant that some kind of bad vibes were being sent his way and he nearly missed a couple of gates because of that. The speedster just needs to recognise technical slalom isn't his strong suit, I think. Silly Frenchie.

The Laufston Journal
Home....hill......Advantage?

LEXINGTON - While the second Quodite leg of the Alpine Skiing World Cup brought much success for Virabi skiers, the shift in the series to Zwangzug has been somewhat of a mixed bag. Mickey Alva did rather well in the Super-G, Reyes took second in the slalom and Brittany Brooks took what might have been Virabia's first actual win in an individual race but aside from that, our time in Zwangzug so far has been rather disappointing.

The top ten, usually filled with at least two or more Virabi skiers has instead been dominated by the Zwangzug skiers who have undoubtedly benefited from skiing on more or less a home mountain. This in itself is not that impressive, rather par for the course but, it becomes worlds more important when we realise that with the last round of updates, Zwangzug was only twenty points behind Virabia and since Quintessence of Dust is out in the lead by roughly 2000 points, a figure which increases everyday, second place now looks to be the most realistically obtainable. Thus, in the coming days, one can expect fierce competition between Zwangzug, Virabia and even Bergnovinaia to secure the best standing in the oh so coveted nations cup.

The pursuit of national bragging rights aside, there is some good news to come out of Lexington today. By our extremely rough calculations, Mickey Alva should have at long last surpassed long time leader Jean-Luc Lacroix as the overall leader of the mens competition. If this is in fact true, it would only be by a few points and most likely, we could see Mickey drop down to second by the time the official post-Lexington rankings are posted. When he was asked his thoughts on this by our very own Julia Lewiston, he seemed to be rather excited saying, "It's a fun prospect, and especially when we're this deep into the thing. Real exciting. Never thought I'd be in this advantageous of a position. Real fun. Real fun."

The other major news revolving around the ski team, relates to Mark Wallace. Yesterday, a rather poorly drawn but, still entertaining Zwangzugian comic published an edition for the shift of the series to Zwangzug. In one of the "panels" was a stab at Mark Wallace's drug habits. Fortunately, enough, this has been taken in good humour by Wallace who even went as far as to say, "those lil' stick dudes. They keepin me sober man. They just so damn funny."

(OOC: Props to Zwang. I really have been enjoying your RPs.)

[Apologies for the delay in getting the standings done, I've had approximately one shit-ton of work to do. Also, the later schedule is now more or less confirmed; see the opening post.]

The Vonghurst Star
Break Timing Questioned

ASHTON, VONGHURST, TIVOAS - The Olympics have only just completed day nine, and some alpine skiing events have yet to be run but, for those registered for both the super-combined as well as the super-g, their stay in Ashton will have to come to a premature end as they have already boarded the long flight that will take them from Ashton all the way to Megkuroko, only to fly right back to Ashton.

This decision to resume the ASWC before the Olympics have even ended has come under some fire from those in both the VOHC as well as fans and athletes. All around, they say that they don't give athletes enough time to fully recover from their Olympic experience, or to enjoy the foreign locale which the games are located in.

"How do they expect us to compete even somewhat well", said Mickey Alva, "A poor move on their part"

Such a move, has struck some as odd but, it seems like people are just going to have to put up with it. Plus, it was much better than the initial schedule which overlapped with the Olympic games. So, if you look on the bright side things, it could be much, much worse. For now, though, we'll keep you posted.

Travel advisory: Liventia

The government of Ad'ihan, on the advice of the foreign secretary, strongly advises all nationals and citizens of Ad'ihan and concerned non-nationals to avoid all but the most essential travel to Liventia, including for the upcoming alpine skiing world cup event.

Information received regarding recent events in the cities of City Centre, Folenisa, Neverend, Orean and Schimpol indicate a growing risk of violent harm and danger to all non-Liventian nationals. The Ad'ihani Department of Foreign Affairs has received credible intelligence of three weeks of planned strikes and protests with the potential to turn violent.

Only the most essential travel to Liventia should be undertaken in light of the growing anti-Firston protests currently spreading to a number of major eastern Liventian cities. Fans of the alpine skiing world cup are advised to take precautions if they decide to travel to Neverend for the Liventian event.

The government of Ad'ihan urges the alpine skiing world cup organisers to call off the Liventian event unless the government of Jeremy Firston steps down.

(OOC: No RP bonus exected for this but if youdo count it towards Liventia, it'd be more than appreciated.)

Apparently, the QBS wobsite has a Mechanistic Results Regurgitation for the ASWC too. Mistakes my own - had to spot it by eye as c+ping the tables into Calc didn't help.
Skiers well placed as Cup moves into final stretch

The first season of the Alpine Skiing World Cup has gone down well in the Quodite ski community, being praised for producing many exciting races and giving skiers from the country the chance to try out numerous foreign slopes. Moving into the final two races of each event, Quintessence of Dust is looking to battle off a late surge from the Virabians in the team standings, while several individual skiers will be looking to solidify good seasons.

Three Quodite skiers are in the overall top tens: Wilhelm Biber (6) and Daniel Richter (10) in the men's, Emily Sanderson (9) in the women's. Richter in the giant slalom, Dirk Hirsch in the men's slalom, and Mandy Kohl in the women's downhill hold leads in their individual events. Biber is second overall in the men's super-G and third in the downhill, Sanderson third in the super-G, Li Peng Xiu third in women's slalom, Lauren Volk third in women's super combined, and Michelle Eckhoff fifth in women's giant slalom.

13 races have been won by Quodite skiers, with Xiu claiming double victories at Kääriäinen and Brockridge Basin, Virabia, Kohl at Greschmeier and Asanthul, Bergnovinaia and Joseph Bengtsson at Vonluth and Asses, Virabia, in the giant slalom. Johann Jorgen (super-G), Michael Grant (downhill), and Hirsch (slalom) have all won on home snow, Eckhoff, Lucas Huber (giant slalom) and Martin Dreher (super-G) abroad.

Yet for all the accolades her teammates have collected, the attitude best exemplifying the Quodite approach to the Cup may come from Jewel Friesen, who has yet to record a finish in her five slalom races. "This is probably the most exciting opportunity we as representatives of our country's sporting public have ever had!" tweeted Friesen, while being medilifted out of yet another fence-chewing crash at Lexington, Zwangzug.

Get to know 'em: giant slalom skiiers in the top threes.

Ashton experience?
Ariadne Dromm: finished four of five events
Gina Morris: eighth in super combined, DNF slalom. Not entered in giant slalom. Oops?
Ferris Alkaev: did not finish either size of slalom
Bradley Mason: finished three of four events
Dima Waunder: finished giant, but not regular, slalom

Favorite color?
Dromm: green
Morris: Yellow. Or maybe...nah. Yellow.
Alkaev: purple
Mason: blue
Waunder: also blue

Any pets?
Morris: two dogs
Alkaev: uh, he's lapsed back into some other language and Waunder is refusing to help me out. Next?

Coolest thing about traveling to many countries on the tour?
Dromm: 400-day winters are very cool in sort of a twisted way.
Morris: Sampling new foods and drinks.
Alkaev: I have to say, actually winning races and realizing how good I am compared to international athletes is kind of fun.
Mason: Uh...well I guess the fact that the weather has held up has been nice...sort of boring though.
Waunder: I have an excuse for glaring and muttering unintelligibly.

Name a kind of dinner you particularly like (this was supposed to be "favorite," but Ariadne took too long to choose)
Dromm: Uh, well, um, maybe, like, does breakfast food count?
Morris: T-bone steaks.
Alkaev: Spaghetti and meatballs.
Mason: Hamburger.
Waunder: Dead fish.
Alkaev: ...as opposed to?!

If you weren't skiing, you'd be...
Dromm: Uh. Maybe trying to organize some sort of sports thing? I think I could do a good job.
Morris: I am not skiing right now.
Alkaev: Writing pamphlets or something.
Mason: Honestly, wasting time in snowball fights and trying to wonder why I couldn't find a real job.
Waunder: A tour guide, or a stay-at-home dad.

There have been some concerns that Liventia is unsafe for foreign travel. What do you make of this?
Mason: Um, I'm not sure if people who race down frozen hills for a living are going to give you useful answers. Just saying.
Morris: Dude, I think we count as "essential travel." Which is pretty awesome when you think about it.
Waunder: Uh...Liventia...that would explain...*something in a language I don't speak*
Alkaev: *laughing* I think it's interesting, we'll hopefully get a chance to see what's going on and learn something new.
Dromm: Let's take it a day at a time, that won't be an issue for a...*glances at hands* while yet.

"Hey d'ya see that QBS article," said a man whose gaze was fixed on his laptop. The tea house around him was bustling with it's normal evening crowd.

"Pretty harsh," said a young woman sitting across from him, "Called us Virabians"

"Typical Quodites," said the man, "Typical stupid Quodites"

The woman across from him agreed and nodded her head, her dreads "banging" against the back of her neck.

The Vonghurst Star
Mark Wallace Numba One!

SNOWHILL - Coming off an extremely strong showing in Snowhill, Virabia's skiers look to be in excellent placement as we go into the final stretch. The gap between us and Zwangzug for second place in the Nations Cup has widened, Valerie Adams and Lisa Smith are both and the top ten, Sócrates Reyes and three of the top four in the Men's individual are Virabis. The most notable of these is Mark Wallace, who gained notoriety in the late part of last year for his drug use and spousal abuse, who now sits atop the overall rankings for the men. Such a recovery is huge and once again, we've interviewed him to see what he thought of his recent successes.

Q: So, it's been roughly two months since your issues were first made public. How have you been faring since then?

A: Has it been great? No. It's been real tough to have the whole worlds eyes upon you but, I've been doing the best as I can to get through each day.

Q: I recall that during our last interview, You said that you were going to try to maintain sobriety to at least try to get clean. How has that gone and what have you done to get through what must be a tough time?

A: Fortunately, I've been mostly sober. Since you interviewed me last I did shoot up once. I regret it though but, like I said, addiction isn't something that you can just beat. It never leaves you and while I had been clean for three weeks at that point, the urge overtook me. Since then, though, I've been clean. Hasn't been at all easy, though.

Q: As I had mentioned earlier, What have you been doing to ease the pain?

A: Well, I was fortunately allowed to re-enter Virabia and they were willing to waive my domestic charges, if I went into rehab. So, I've been given some natural oil which is supposed to lessen the need. They've been supplimenting this with giving me lesser opiates. Slowly weaning me off of my dependance on the drugs.

Q: Another question I have is about your marriage. What's happened with that?

A: I don't exactly feel like going into that at the moment.

Q: Ok. So, one thing that I would like to talk about is your recent string of strong performances. Third in the Super Combi, where Virabis swept the top three and first in a downhill race. Both of which rank amongst the best results posted throughout the season by any Virabi. Of course these are a big deal because of the recent hardships you've suffered. What do you think of these?

A: I think it says quite a bit about someone when they can do what I'm doing. A lot of people would have probably just given up and gone home but, I've stuck it out. We'll see how that works out.

Q: I doubt that it's been easy for you to perform to such a high level.

A: It hasn't by any means. If people get one thing from this, it's that what I'm going through is by no means easy.

Q: I'd think that to be in the elite group of skiers would not be easy.

A: It isn't, I just have it harder.

Q: On that elite group, after the most recent set of events in Meguroko, you rank on top of the Men's Overall standings. Do you think you can maintain this as we go to into the final three groupings of events?

A: I think I can but, Lacroix, Alva and even Sócks are good skiers. They could easily catch up to me, just gotta go out there and do what I do.

Q: One of those final three places, Liventia, as you know has erupted with protests and demonstrations against the government. As such, travel advisories have been posted and there have been calls to cancel that part of the World Cup. First, do you even feel safe traveling there and how would you feel about those events potentially getting cancelled.

A: I have no clue what side the protestors are even coming from. I do think, though that the travel advisory is to prevent people from seeing just how despicably the government treats their fellow man. As for them getting cancelled, it's a mixed bag. Less events does mean that I have less of a chance of losing my placement though!

Q: Right. So, one final question. Your strong performances has led some to say that you being left out of the Olympic delegation was a poor choice on the VOHC's part. What do you think of this?

A: As I've said before, I know why they've done it. Sure, I believe that I would have been a valuable asset to the delegation but, at some point it doesn't matter. What I did was wrong and all I can do now is to hope that at least some people will find it in their heart to forgive me.

Q: Do you think they will?

A: I don't know.

Tekla Angelina placed fifth in the Women's Giant slalom Event, along with Lyuba Natalka who placed twelfth. "Yeah, we just gave it our all," Tekla said when asked about Vulshain's determination to win.

Faddei Varnava qualified in the 13th spot in the Men's Downhill Event. "Downhill runs are my speciality," he told The Confederate Sentinel.

Firston insists Neverend is "safe" for ASWC event

Neverend, LIVENTIA— Embattled Liventian prime minister Jeremy Firston has today spoken out about a controversial travel advisory issued against the country by the Ad’ihani government.

Mr Firston, who is coming under increasing pressure to step down as prime minister and call elections which are four years overdue, rubbished claims in the travel warning that people on the streets protesting against him would turn violent against non-Liventians.

"Liventia respects the right of people to protest, and the right of assembly, and the right of free speech. We have always done so as a government and as a nation. It is absurd to think that the protesters will resort to violence, especially since they are not being suppressed," Firston told the Broadcasting Corporation of Liventia.

The statement warning against travel to Liventia, issued by the Ad’ihani foreign secretary Alex Canning who as prime minister of that nation publicly clashed with Mr Firston in the latter's first stint as the Liventian head of government in 2147, portrays a stark scenario of worsening protests in Liventia's major eastern cities, including the host city of the final event on the alpine skiing world cup calendar, Neverend.

Mr Firston also criticised the Virabi alpine skiier Mark Wallace for what he called "ignorant and slanderous" comments made in an interview with the Vonghurst Star, in which the latter claimed the travel advisory had been issued by Liventia themselves to "prevent people from seeing just how despicably the government treats their fellow man."

"We have consulted the government lawyers on this, and we are looking into taking legal action against the person in question for slander," Mr Firston confirmed.

"It was a totally ignorant remark, considering that we weren't the ones who issued the travel advisory – why would we want to lose our own event which would boost the country's economy? And as I've said, the protesters are not under any pressure, they are free to protest and the police will only intervene if things turn riotous and harm to lives and property is a viable threat."

When asked if he will agree to the protesters' demands for him to quit, Mr Firston was non-committal, saying he would only consider leaving or calling an election "when the time is right".

Mr Firston first came to office in January 2147, replacing Michael Harley as prime minister for the remainder of his term before calling elections in April, which were won by the opposition Conservatives led by Patrick Danahue. Mr Firston returned to power after Mr Danahue was assassinated just shy of a year later, and promised to call elections for the same year. However, using a legislative majority, Mr Firston has on three occasions extended emergency powers put in place after the Danahue assassination, thus putting off the promised election.

In separate developments, protests were reported today in the western town of Montreffier, about 160 km southeast of Cyclonesville, calling on the alpine skiing world cup organisers to threaten to pull the Neverend event if Mr Firston does not leave office. It is the first reports of protests west of the Folenisan desert.

Mr Firston has recently told media that he believes the alpine skiing world cup organisers should not intervene in the politics of a sovereign nation.

Firston hands power to Pollard to save ASWC event

Orean, LIVENTIA— Liventia's prime minister Jeremy Firston has handed power to an interim prime minister in a move billed as a major victory for anti-government protesters backed by Ad’ihan.

Mr Firston, who had been fighting a losing battle to stay in the position he has occupied for four years without ever fighting an election, said he was stepping down and had tasked Parliament to appoint an interim prime minister to govern until elections which he announced for June. However, he denied he was giving in to pressure from protesters, saying he did not want to jeopardise an upcoming alpine skiing world cup event due to be held in Neverend, which is set to net the Liventian government in the region of an eight-figure profit.

Parliament has appointed Jane Pollard, a member of Mr Firston's National Centrist Board and a former senior aide to ex-prime minister Michael Harley, as the interim premier, despite calls from some protesters for the stand-in leader to be from the opposition.

Speaking at her introductory media conference, Mrs Pollard said she would hold an open dialogue with leading protesters to hear any more concerns they may have, and called on striking workers to return to their jobs and for protesters to leave the streets.

She also repeated comments made by Mr Firston in his last BCL interview, saying that the country was ready to welcome the alpine skiing world cup to Neverend for its season-ending event. "There is absolutely no threat of violence in Liventia, we will be holding open talks and we will work together, the government and the protesters and the opposition, to find common ground until the elections in June.

"The country is safe and we welcome with open arms foreign tourists and fans of the alpine skiing world cup. The event will go ahead as planned and we do not expect any significant changes to the previously-announced schedule," she said.

Mrs Pollard also reiterated the Liventian government's commitment to pursuing Virabi alpine skiier Mark Wallace for damages for slander.

"Our lawyers have advised us that we should be able to sue for slander, the proof is out there that there was no mistreatment of any protesters and this man's claims were simply baseless. Freedom of speech does not include the freedom to slander."

Mrs Pollard's new Sport and Culture Minister, James Kelling, has urged the ASWC organisers and the Virabi Olympic High Council to censure Wallace for his comments, adding that if Wallace turned up for the Neverend event, he would be served a summons of court and have his passport confiscated until any defamation case is over.

The Vonghurst Star
Wallace under Fire

VONGHURST - Don't you just love how the way that the world works? At long last, you look like you're going to make it over a major obstacle but, then life. Oh good ol' life builds another hill for you. Such is the situation Mark Wallace finds himself in now. He has recently come under heavy fire from Liventian officials for making comments on the recent revolts in Liventia in an interview with this paper and were along the lines of "The Liventians don't want [the ASWC] to go there because the [Liventian Government] was afraid that the skiers would see just how bad the people were being treated by their government"

The reaction to these comments from the Liventian government have been nothing short of over-reaction. The interim prime minister has threatened to sue Wallace for the damages from slander.

"So, I'm getting sued for nothing?", said Wallace when he was asked about this, "I don't know why they bother but, hey, what ever floats their boat!"

While her threats have been met with laughter by most, we can't forget the legal issue that surrounds this law suit. While slander and libel are protected speech in Virabia, this is not the case in many other countries, including Liventia. Thus, using the Liventian court system, which will heavily be weighted against him, Wallace could likely be found guilty. However, the real quagmire begins once the intricacies of international law come into play. Or to put it more correctly, the lack of international law.

While many countries are signatories to treaties and other documents that establish at least a semblance of international law, Virabia has rather notably refused to sign nearly all of these documents as they have been thought to enroch too much on national sovreignty.

Citing this the Virabi ambassador to Liventia Donna Brown has said that, "The Liventians really don't have a case. First, they're suing over something absolutely insane. Plus, their case is built on the shoddiest of foundations. They argue that the government doens't treat their people at least somewhat poorly. Well, think that one through. If they weren't treated poorly, why would the people be protesting in the first place? Exactly, and I can say with utmost certainty that they are being treated rather poorly. I've seen first hand how the people here live in a society where people are denied access to things that us Virabis take for granted. There just isn't much that they can do."

Or is there? The new Sport and Culture Minister (nothing says authoritarian quite like government controlled culture), James Kelling, aside from urging the VOHC to censure Wallace (something, that despite Wallace's recent problems, John Hendrix (president of the VOHC) has refused to do) has also said that if Wallace were to go to Liventia for the final races of the ASWX, he would summoned to court and would also have his passport confiscated.

While there has been no word on what action would be taken if this were done, Mark Wallace has told us that it will be, "big, they always do something big".

We'll just have to wait and see, and as always, we'll keep you posted.

The Vonghurst Star
Wallace?

VONGHURST - Last week, there was a media storm around skier Mark Wallaces "slanderous" comments that he made on the subject of the recent revolts in Liventia. In retaliation to these comments, the Liventian government threatened with forced detention and the confescation of Wallace's passport if he were to go to the country for the Neverend event.

At the time, it looked like this was going to a major international situation but, in the recent days it has died down. Since Donna Brown proclaimed that the Virabi government would actively try to defend him no developments have happened on this issue. No Liventian response, nada. And since there have been no developments on this case it has led us to believe that perhaps the Liventian government has silently recanted their suit.

As the old saying goes, though, "It's better to be safe than sorry"

Thats why, Wallace will be accompined by two bodyguards when he goes to Liventia. Both of which have been paid for by the VOHC whose president John Hendrix said "It's just in case."

The VOHC's funding of his bodyguards has not gone with out contreversey, though. Those who oppose the move have argued that because of his still ongoing drug scandal he shouldn't be afforded these kind of protections.

"He repeatedly smuggled drugs in and out of the country," complained one distraught man, "If anyone else did that, they'd not only be facing hard time here but in the other countries as well but, Mark, gets off scot free and then is given bodyguards."

People like him do raise an interesting point. It is just to give people second chances but, at somepoint there has to be a line drawn, and I think it should be well before what he did. Now, I don't want to make blind accusations but, I've dealt with the drug using type before. They'll do anything to support their habbit, including selling. So, It's not all that unlikely that Wallace could have sold abroad. A crime that would get him an instant extradition to where ever he was indicted.

The other thing that we often ignore when talking about this issue was the spousal abuse side which, wommans rights groups have been especially loud about.

"Forget the heroin" called out activist Sofi Lopes at a sizeable rally outside of VOHC headquarters today, "He abuses women, punish him for that."

So far there have been no response from Wallace on any of these issues but, if and when he does you can be sure that we will keep you posted.
