5th Commonwealth Cup - Everything

Postby Delaclava » Mon Jan 03, 2011 7:51 pm

Welcome to the 5th Commonwealth Cup, hosted in Delaclava! This is the smallest sporting event that Delaclava has hosted to date, but that doesn't mean it'll be the least exciting; if anything, our great country will be able to put in all the resources it needs to make this a smooth, well-run, fun tournament!

The 12 nations participating:

Aergad Isles
Meguroko
Pretty Awesome Persons
Stuffed Taxidermists
Eurentus
Mangolana
Spitfyred1
Telibi
Hossaim
Albundania
Loonaterian
Western cuba

We also have one waiting list team: Erathore. If a signed-up team drops out or CTE's, or if another nation wants to sign up, they will be allowed in. (If you are still interested, TG me now before it's too late!)

There will be two groups of six, with each team playing each other once. At the end of the group stage, the second-placed team from Group A will face the third-placed team from Group B, and the second-placed team from Group B will face the third-placed team from Group A. The two winners will move on to face the group winners in the semifinals. Losers play off for third place, winners play the championship.

Points will be first, followed by goal differential, H2H result, and H2H goal differential. Note that neither wins nor goals scored is being employed as a tiebreaker.

After the group stage, most two semifinals will be played, followed by a third-place playoff and a championship game. However, if numbers are sufficient, there might be a quarterfinal as well. Another possible idea is taking the top few from each group and doing a second group stage, with the top two then playing the final.

Vephrall's NSFS3 will be used to scorinate, each night at 9-10 PM EST.

RPs will be graded based on respect for opponents' RP permissions and RP (if the opposing team has already RPed), grammar and spelling (won't be ridiculous and nit-picky here, just as long as I can make sense of it, not likely that anyone will get docked here), quality and effort. It wouldn't really be fair to define further what quality means, as people RP differently.

Here's how venues will work: the list is right below. You may pick which of the venues your match was in. Keep in mind a few things, however: 1) If your opponent RPs a stadium, you must use that same stadium in your RP; 2) If a team RPs with a stadium, you cannot use that stadium for your match on that matchday; 3) You may RP where your very next match will be, but none after that. It won't be allowed to book your whole schedule.

Mangolana begins Commonwealth cup run

Postby Mangolana » Mon Jan 03, 2011 8:04 pm

The Republic of Mangolana will be ready. We have experience from our other tournaments we have played in, and all of the leaders on our team, we expect nothing less than a championship to bring home to Mangolana, stated the coach of Mangolana's national soccer team. Expectations are hi as you can tell for this team. Confidence is always good but as always could the pressure be to much. The coach did say though that all the teams at this competition are some of the best in the world, and it will take 110% to beat them, but that is what I expect from this team. As always though, win, draw, or loss we will still be cheering for you, good luck from all of Mangolana.

LNNN: Victory in Delaclava!

Postby Loonaterian » Fri Jan 07, 2011 2:02 am

Loonaterian kicked off their 5th Commonwealth Cup with style as the they took a 2-0 win against Mangolana. This win bodes well for Loonaterian's World Cup friendly against Mangolana. They are now second in the group. The goals were scored by Jani'é Boréca and Ricardo Harole.

The Eurentus Second National Team will be sent to the 5th Commonwealth Cup.

Head Manager
Nickola Alevo
Age 88 - One of the biggest billionaires in Eurentus, he surely is the most famous man aside from the king. He know owns the successful PC Alevo soccer club and seems the perfect fit to manage the second national team.
Assistant Manager
Amagio Pasie
Age 28 - Amagio Pasie found most of the talent on the original team. He helped coach the first national team for the 2nd Ebyrian International Cup, but has been demoted for this circuit. If it wasn't for this cup, he probably would have lost the job entirely.

Starting XI
GK - Sergio D'que
Age 23 - Sergio D'que played for Villa Major in the 204 season of the Eurentus Soccer League. He was a very successful goalkeeper, but didn't manage to make it onto the first squad. He is plenty capable however, boasting almost equal skills to that of Amaia D'que.
DEF-Rodrigo U'ev
Age 28 - Edgar Noir
DEF-Miguel Harmai
Age 38 - Edgar Noir
DEF-Jose de N'aue
Age 40 - FC E'nua
DEF-Fredrick Montero
Age 40 - Norte United
MID-Jose Dalle
Age 17 - FC E'nua
MID-Salvador Valquez
Age 19 - PC Alevo
MID-Jean U'en
Age 127 - PC Alevo
MID-Bernard Dalle
Age 33 - Edgar Noir
FWD-Diano Zurrez
Age 36 - Edgar Noir
FWD-Nickolas Duquez
Age 17 - PC Alevo

Substitutes
The substitutes for the second national team are the same as the first national team. Since they are barely ever used, they are allowed to be called into either game.
GK-Claude Vinas
Age 30 - Vinas has been a sailor his whole life. He was the starting keeper for the original Eurentus National Team, but now he was put on the bench. Even though he's a sub, he still shows impressive skills as a goalkeeper.
DEF-Claud E'uas
Age 22 - Claud lacks the general stockiness that the starting defenders boast. Despite his smaller size, he is quite strong and extremely good at positioning.
MID-Tomas L'ue
Age 15 - Tomas L'ue is the nephew of head manager Miguel Egar. For no other reason than that was he chosen for the team.
FWD-Jean le Harmanio
Age 17 - A fully Spanish boy, legally changed his name to a French one. He is an aspiring politician in the French Rights Party, and a personal favorite of King Truffaut. This kid seems to impress at everything he does and is determined to win a starting position.

The Free Kick
Hossaim Dominate in 8 goal thriller
Code: Select all
Hossaim: 6                Pretty Awesome Persons :2
Wells 7th                 Unkown 67th
Johnson (pen) 28th        Unknow 90th+2
Smith 39th
Wells 55th
Steboric 76th
Wells 83rd

A great goal fest and a great performance for Hossaim, coming off Baptism of Fire disappointment.

Wells 7th, assisted by Steboric
Hossaim started applying pressure from the first moment, and scored first, When Emerton squared it long down the wing for Frash who took it on left, cutting in to the box then he squared it back for Stebroic on the near post who from 7 yeards, tried to drill it past the keeper but it hit the far post where Wells was all to willing to punch in the loose ball from 3 yards.

Johnson (Pen) 27th
After some more pressure and some great saves, Hossaim scored a second time, this time Johnson ran forward to the half-way line then struck a nice lobbed ball the steboric but he got out paced so he faked out the defender and hit a threw ball to smtih who accelerated into the box but was brought down clear on goal by a harsh talcked sending Johnson to the spot, where he finished all to simply, a smack to the bottom left corner.

Smith 27th, assisted by Johnson
This one really crushed PAP's morale. Another dump tackle gave Hossaim a free kick from 30 yards, witch Johnson slammed forward, over the wall and accelerating into the box, meanwhile, a clever run from smith, witch he started the second Johnson hit the free kick, had lead him to the edge of the 6 yard box, where he deflected it to the right side of the net, past the keeper, who had already committed to the left.

Wells 55th, assisted by Steboric
This one was just poor defending. Steboric made an off the run ball, covered by a defender, into the box with the ball at the half-way line. Emerton, who had the ball, hit it long towards Steboic, who was to the left (his right) of the 6 yard box, facing away from the net, meanwhile Wells was running into the box, so ass the ball arrived Steboric climbed higher than the defender, and headed towards the edge of the 6 yard box, where Wells and the keeper were rushing too, but wells was faster and he flicked it over the keeper and into the net. A well orchestrated plan, and it worked to perfection.

Steboric 76th, assisted by Smith
Despite PAP coming back and scoring, Hossaim were not fazed, and pushed men forward, looking to increase the goal difference. This on was classic. A short pass to Smith who was 30 yards out, he did what he does best and sprinted down the right wing, out-pacing 2 defenders, then he hit a pinpoint cross to the middle of the box (about 10 yards out and in the center) Where Steboric climbed and and turned his head as the ball came to it, directing it into the bottom right corner.

Wells 83rd, assisted by Johnson
Another simple goal. Johnson get's the ball on the edge of the box after an opposing corner, leaving the field almost wide open to him, so he sprints forward to about 30 yards way from the goal, where he spots Wells running in, and he plays it threw to him where Wells slots the ball past the keeper into the bottom right corner from 10 yards. 6-1, game long over, wells get's his hat trick. After that, PAP grabbed one back, but it made little difference.

LNNN: Narrow defeat!

Postby Loonaterian » Sat Jan 08, 2011 4:12 am

Loonaterian lost 2-0 to Hossaim. The defeat hasn't seemed to have done any thing to Loonaterian's chances though as Loonaterian are still 2nd in the group. In the 51st minute Adam Wells scored an impressive goal for Hossaim and just 5 minutes later Wells scored again. For the whole of the first half Loonaterian were knocking on Hossaim's door, but they could never find the back of the net. The same happened in the end of the second half; Loonaterian constantly trying, but never finding the net.

The Free Kick
Hossaim Top of group B

Hossaim have moved to the top of Group B with a 2-0 win over Loonaterian, and Hossaim's top football magazine is here to give you the full scoop.

Code: Select all
Hossaim: 2          Loonaterian: 0
Wells 51st
Wells 56th

Wells 51st, assisted by Johnson
After a first half of sparring, more or less, both sides creating some feeble chances. After some words at half time, however, Hossaim came out for the second half fully pumped, and broke threw 6 minutes in. This goal was a beauty. Hossaim start by breaking on the counter, with a threw ball to Smith, but near the edge of the box he get's cut off, so he pull's back, leaving time for players to pour into the box and then he hit the ball fast just outside the box (from the right wing, right across the box, from about 20 yards), witch rose a foot in the air where Johnson a bit in front of the ball, on the edge of the circle, he let the ball past his advanced right leg and as it came past his left he flicked it forward with his left back-heel. , and it lobed forward over the crowd where Wells was advancing onside to head it past the helpless keeper from 5 yards.

Wells 56th, asssited by steboric
This was simple. Johnson controls it on the half-way line, with Hossaim on the counter, he smacks the practiced-to -perfection lobed ball over the remaining defense, this time Frash running on to hit, he speed forward but got cut off by a backtracking defender , so after a step-over, he hit a cross witch Steboric came across and power headed at the keeper who got his hand's in front of it, but left a wide open rebound that Wells nodded home easily from 5 yards. After that, Hossaim took the foot off the pedal, and cruised fairly comfortably to the 2-0 win.

LNNN: Loonaterian trash Pretty Awesome Persons!

Postby Loonaterian » Sun Jan 09, 2011 2:21 am

Today "The Big Cats" proved they would be a force to beat once again as they completely annihilated Pretty Awesome Persons 5-1. Loonaterian is still second in the group, but Hossaim and Loonaterian appear to be running away with in in Group 2. In the game Jani'é Boréca scored a hat trick and Nävu Kanahun put to home. It wasn't a perfect run however because just before the end of the game PAP put one home.

Aergad Isles 1-1 Mangolana
Today Mangolana earned there first draw against Aergad Isles. The final score was 1-1. Mangolana did express some dissapointment though after felling they could have won this game coming in. In a post game interview, Mangolana's maneger admitted that the blame fell squarly on him for his late game substitutions based on feeling and feeling only. Instead of putting the best options that i had in, i went with my gut, and i screwed up. If we miss entering the elimination rounds, it will be all my fault. You don't know how many emotions are flowing thru me, this team should have won today and I screwed it up for all them. But I promise you, you will never see a coach prepare more than i do, you will never see a coach make better decisions than I do, thankyou. As you can see this coach feels much remorse. But as far as the promises, we will just have to watch the rest of the tournaments.

The free Kick
Hossaim continue dominance

Hossaim: 2           Western cuba: 0
Steboric 26th
Johnson 60th

Nice and dominant display from Hossaim. Controlled the game, although western Cuba put in a few chances, Hossaim strolled to a comfortable scoreline.

Steboric 27th, assisted by Emerton
This was a well played goal and a simple finish. Hossaim were working around Western Cuba's penalty box, trying to find an opening, and Frash cut back on the wing and played to the edge of the box where Johnson was. Johnson turned and fired a shot that was blocked away to Emerton. Never afraid to shoot, Emerton blasted a 30 yard striker over the players in the box but the shot hit of the under side of the crossbar and it bounced high 4 yards out where Steboric rand forward and beats the keeper to it with his head, directing it to the bottom left corner.

Johnson 66th
This goal was fantastic. Smith burst down the wing, then crossed into the box but nobody got to it, ti went over on to the other wing where Frash was, He crossed to the edge of th box where Walls hit a volley that smacked the crossbar, and the ball was headed away to about 27 yards way from the goal where Johnson struck a volley that flew into the top right corner, beating the goal keeper.
