A team isn't going to declare until the second day and usually after lunch if they bat first, and usually not before they make over 500 runs or lead by over 300. Second Innings declarations also happen on the fifth day or very late on the fourth.

So maybe a declaration condition could be: Team score > 500 AND Lead > 300 AND Time > Day 1 for example. It really depends on those three factors with the exception of the team that bats first in the first innings.

Or maybe the teams owner can say what score/time they want to declare on before the match?

Not really realistic as games of cricket rarely go to plan. A team might plan to declare at lunch on day 2 when they have 500 runs; in reality they could be all out for 98 by lunch on day 1. I would prefer to give teams a chance of when to declare during the match, perhaps at the end of each day of play.

Even though I am Australian I have to respect the Indians!
It is the best nation at cricket mainly because they are one of the only nations in the world that have cricket as their national sport.
Don't look at me like that!

I'm sure the monks have played cricket before.... On Jolt.

Couldn't tell you offhand if it was a test or a one day match, but I distinctly remember that one member of the team was called Fr. <Something> the Willow Carver.
I remember in 2005 being in a one day tournament with your monks, though I can't remember if we actually played you or not.

Anyway, I also feel this is as good a place as any to apologise for not going through with the Cricket World Cup. I lost track of it a bit while waiting for a couple more entrants, and then lost enthusiasm. Plus, I didn't have too much faith in my scorinator; on balance I'd rather wait to see what TBI comes up with (though I hesitate to "express interest", given the tone of some of these posts - CLR James, they ain't).

Why thank you very much. However, I feel obliged to correct you. The official sport of India is field hockey, even though Cricket is India's most POPULAR sport. :)

The South African are the best at Cricket,

Funny, real life story:
A few years back (ie the 70's or 80's, I forget which) the South Africans had in their team a one leggered dutch cricketeer!  (Funny and True all at the same time!). The point is, because of the racist acts of the white South Africans and the apartheid you had a better chance to make the team if you where white with 3 or less limbs, than if you were a perfectly fit and healthy black guy!
Gotta love this team (for their sense of humour, I AM NOT RACIST)!
But seriously, they are pretty good, they knocked Australia off 'world no.1 a few years back!
IN AUSTRALIA! (all cricket fans know this is a hard thing to do, especially in Western Australia)!
