NSCAR continued

Postby Stannge » Sun Nov 07, 2010 6:19 pm

The official NS racing league. The last time i tried, I don't know how but the thread got locked by someone. The top 2 are technically called winners until I get 10 drivers, which by then the top 5, and by 20, the top 7, by 30 top 9, and so on. The rest will have recorded a loss.

Just so you know, it wasn't locked for no reason. It attracted no interest for three weeks, not even from you, then the thread was gravedug, causing the lock. Just be aware of that before you proceed.

OOC, and this is to help you, not criticize you: How is this like NASCAR? Time-trials, which this appears to be based on what you posted have nothing to do with NASCAR. Unless they were qualifying laps, but your results don't give me that impression. If you were saying it was cumulative times to finish a 500-mile race, then you have scorination problems as the cars should be a lot closer together. On a standard race track, your based on these times, your 2nd place driver would be a lap down, and third place some four laps down. Silly for a NASCAR-like event, unless Jimmie Johnson was racing against a bunch of guys from the local short track.

Looks more like an F1 style or a road-rally style of racing to me. I suggest that you theme your competition more towards those styles. (calling it a road rally is best based on what I see here).

Also, stock cars don't approach anywhere near the speeds that would be necessary for the times you're giving. And if you figure in caution laps, fighting through traffic, etc., then at times the cars would be achieving instantaneous speeds faster than the speed of sound.

They're sport cars, actually. Not stock cars. I edited it so it doesn't sound so much like NASCAR anymore, except for the name. They are just sports car that are modified to go faster. Also, I never said that the track was a ile, so that doesn't mean they are going 500 miles.

OOC again: Good move with sport cars. FYI, you did say it was 500 miles because you called the race the Capital 500. That's what the "500" means (the # of miles) in the name of races. It does not mean the number of laps.

Oh, sorry about that then. I'm not really a racing fan, I just did this for the heck of it.

And when combined with the total lack of sign-up interest, I think that's enough to warrant a lock.

Stannge, I have no objection to you making another attempt to start a motor racing league, whether NASCAR or not, but you might find it helpful to make sure that your event matches your title (and maybe try and spell your event's name correctly in the title).
