Erm, no.

Also, just a heads up to Cosumar but that is now a full RP in case you haven't seen it - but I was just getting it in, in case I missed the cut-off - I didn't so now it is completed :)

Some close results in the Woodlands Conference too!

Well, I don't like New Zealanders and I'm taking a French GCSE which has for some reason made me want France to win! :P

But aye, I would have preferred Wales to progress.

GCSE French... Good Lord I feel old now. I sat that almost ten years ago I think... Also, is it just me that finds the french word for swimming bath ironically hilarious? :lol2:
Wales vs New Zealand would probably have been a better matchup too, I think. And I'd like to reiterate at this point that I'm not biased at all *ahem*

But ah... back on topic, in case a mod is watching us (Hi, Arch!)... I'll plug the results into the spreadsheet and have rankings up tomorrow (unless I'm still up when Cosumar and Michael VII scorinate). I'll try and maintain that throughout the season, too... but no promises. I wanna try and do some kind of RP'd IC Power Ranking to go with the "official" rankings too, like the ones you see on bleacherreport and stuff... what do you guys think?

Some sort of ranking that requires votes would be good. People could send rankings in via telegram and then the teams are ranked each week in order of votes. Another thing I think might be cool to implement would be to have players of the week much like they have in the NFL at the moment. Each week there is a ground/air player of the week, but for this to work there would need to be consistent stats posted.

http://www.nfl.com/voting/players-air-a ... 2011/REG/5 - This is an example of this.

Not sure we'd have enough input for that... although I'd like to do it. I can see it going the way of recruiting, to be honest :/

I was thinking more like this, to go in the same post as the "official" rankings, but to account for things like form, strength of schedule, RP'd off-field issues even. Stuff that you wont necessarily see on the actual ranking lists, you know?

Don't mean to double post but there's no way around it right now, I think this is a fairly important announcement.

Mineral Conference teams... in case you didn't see it in the RP/Roster thread, I think there might be a change to your schedule soon so keep an eye out for that. It shouldn't be a major problem as far as I know, but any issues should be directed to either myself or Michael VII.

Also, the standings are updated and a link is in the sig as always :)
I'll do a power ranking list later today maybe.

Also, I think an RPed top 10 or whatever would be good. As long as it wasn't just on results but actually had some backing, with teams who are in form or perhaps have got a shock win maybe going up, teams with off-field problems etc going down.

So does anyone know the highest possible rank score that a team can get? I am wanting to factor this in more fairly with my conference...Although I don't think it changes much because 6 of my 8 teams don't have a ranking...

EDIT: Don't worry, I figured it out...

Updated the standings (file should be available for download via the link in my sig)
Updated the Mineral Conference schedule (lemme know if I made any mistakes, M7)
Also did my first attempt at power ranking the top ten teams... I tried my best not to be biased. Honest!

Final note, my scorination time might be a bit later than usual this thursday, because I'm out that night (taking my cousin to a Katy B gig). I don't know what time I'll be home, but it shouldn't be a big deal. But yeah... Just a heads up, in case something holds me up or whatever. :)

Well its hard to be biased when you let my team still stay in the top 10 despite being 0-1, and your team beat last year's finalists to go 1-0 and with the bragging rights of being the most recent NSCF Champion. So, I think they're actually very fair. But then again, am I biased? Bahaha

Hey, I've got an idea for NSCF 5, I know its a little early, but how about we try schedule some non-conference games like real college football? I reckon it'd be fun to be able to play RMU or UAD in the regular season, rather than have to wait to the do or die semifinals like last year!

I reckon it could be a cool idea, but not too sure on how we'd scorinate it. Although as long as we are able to fix up matches, not that it really matters IRL if teams play the same Non-Conference schedule, then it shouldn't be too hard to schedule...

I like this Idea. I think that a schedule should be randomlly made, giving each team a nonconference schedule to start the season. It should be host made, with a designated scorinator responsible for only so many games.

Well I'm not sure if I like the pre-determined schedule so much, just because I like the idea of being able to choose teams from other conferences, like UAD or RMU (who we beat in the semis last season! ) that are tops of their conferences. I wouldn't mind playing minnows, but it would be nice to have the top teams in each conference be able to build up a nice rivalry! Then again dependent on the amount of NC games, we could see if we could schedule something to do with last years CCs playing each other and same placings playing each other....We could sort these kind of scheduling things out after NSCF 5 signups though... :)

The main issue with non-conference games is organisation, imo. If we can find a simple way of arranging the designation, scheduling and scorination of inter-conference games, then sure. We can at least try it -- even if its just an invitational tournament held outside NSCF jurisdiction for testing purposes.

I had considered shuffling the conferences this season but decided against it because firstly, it reduces the chances of building up rivalries (for RP purposes) and secondly, it goes against precedent. I also think that putting inter-conference games on the schedule would require smaller conferences, otherwise we'd have to change to a single round robin format... which kinda dicks anyone who gets the high seeds in road games, lol. With 40 teams, its tricky but could have been done as (for example):

10 x 4 team divisions (two per conference)
** Each team plays home and away games vs each team in their division (6 games)
** Each team plays one game vs each other team in their conference (4 games)
** Each team plays one game vs each team in another division outside their conference (4 games)

Thats a total of 14 games (same as the current schedule)...

Retaining the conferences (and adding divisions) allows rivalries to continue, even if they don't all play twice per season.
You put the divisional champions through to the playoffs with the next best six teams for the same 16 team playoff format.

So... It can be done, but on the organisational side, its all coming across a little too complicated for my liking right now. How would we schedule it so that one person can scorinate each conference? Because of the crossovers with scorination and having teams in other conferences, it would be awkward. Also, finding another person to scorinate four games per season of your conference is an unnecessary complication, imo, unless we split the season into sections, like (intra-divisional round one, inter-conference round, intra-conference round, intra-divisional round two) and have the third party scorination occur only for the relevant round? Still seems OTT though.

That doesn't mean its not possible to make this work, or anything... Its something we can discuss as the season goes on though, because if I'm honest, I really would like to see it happen. My main concern is the implications such changes would have on the structure of NSCF and how we organise things. If someone comes up with a solution that we agree is workable, by all means, we can do a test run between NSCF 4 and NSCF 5, and if it works, we do it in NSCF 5 ... sound fair?

Well, I think I mentioned that I had an idea a week or so ago - maybe more. It was quite similar to the ideas being proposed now, but because I thought of the scheduling problems that would be created if team from different conferences played each other, it is slightly different.

I was going to propose that the top 8 ranked teams (or 8 teams that are role-played well by their users and so are invite), make up a conference of their own. Just so we can have a more competitive conference where people who role-play will at least have the chance to role-play against other active role-players, it'd mean there would be more rivaries and tougher games - and once big teams will struggle a bit, but the role-playing would be brilliant.

Any thoughts?

I endorse this. I hate being in a conference with only two really solid teams and having to duke it out all the way down the stretch.

It would make things harder for me too, but…yeah.
