Hey all.

Due to a combination of 2 traumatic events that are comparable to having Maracanazo and Mineirazo in 40 hour window, please understand if this particular decline on my health is shown either through the RP quality or frequency. I won't be submitting subpar one-liners and whatnot, but the signs of trauma and loss will be shown in my RP. Due to those reasons, I have indefinitely put Dexter Ahn series on hold and will be working on other RPs for the future.

Thanks for your understanding,

Anyone want out of conference games this season? Drawkland's already claimed one.

Come to think of it, I should probably wait until I know what conference I'm actually in.

There's a pretty good newcomers' guide here that explains a lot of the basics. Might want to check that out and then check back here if you have competition specific questions.

Hey -

I'm planning on submitting a few analysis on the idea soon, however, I'd like to get some impromptu feedback on the idea or perhaps later possibility of an NSCF Division 2, specifically for new nations to NSCF. It would allow for them to get a feel to the how NSCF works in a lower division, upon their completion, they could participate in the next occurring season of the regular NSCF.

Please feel free to yell at me or voice concerns! ^_^

The idea of a two-tiered system for NSCF has been discussed in the past. Doesn't seem likely to happen, tbh.

Not really sure it has any value, personally. Why do they need to start in a lower division?

I don't really see any reason for this. I mean, if it's too keep 'parity' or whatever, I'm pretty sure I made the semi finals as a first time nation, and then there's the issue of how to implement wins in the ranking system if they're coming out of a lower division. Personally, it seems like it'd be unfair for a team that goes undefeated in a lower division to get those points and shoot up in the rankings as such, but at the same time, it delays their small boost by another season if you don't implement them.

I'm against the idea of a second division for several reasons.

First of all, we only have 2-3 NSCF seasons per year. A full cycle in the training-wheels division would cause many new participants to lose interest before the next one comes around.

Second, it goes against one of the enduring principles of NSCF, which is to be a platform where dedicated new RPers can come in and be competitive right away. I mean, it's quoted in the first paragraph of every sign-up thread. Richardson was new to NSCF, but Ranoria's consistent high-quality RP fully deserved a shot to win the NSCF title. That's only the most recent of many examples.

Thirdly, the numbers aren't sufficient. NSCF has usually enjoyed strong levels of RP (partially because of the above principle), but remains a relatively niche NS Sport community. In some seasons, we have barely hit the minimum 30 teams. Numbers are stronger as of late, but I see no reason to fragment the competition. Looking at the current sign-ups, implementing Kep's idea would leave us with just 22 for NSCF and 16 for the unnamed second division. For me, the bigger NSCF is, the better. After all, the RL FBS has 130 teams.

As people come and go, adding new RPers to the fold is the lifeblood of this entire forum. So I suppose I'll depart with this question: if YOU were a potential new RPer, would this framework attract or deter you from putting energy into NSCF? Honestly, I don't think the proposal is even worth the energy I just put into this post.

In other news, four spaces left! Let's fill em up and get this thing rolling! I'm pretty excited for this season with nations like Banija and Arkinesia returning. Now we just need Kalalau to turn up...
