Michigan is somehow still in the Playoff chase. And for that, I am happy.

Is there not a college football discussion thread?
I don't know how long I'll be back, but I just thought I'd stop in and say hi, at least.

I figured you would be happy about that score! Peregrine FTW?

Also worth noting that all of the home teams won this week...

Maybe I should have benched Cobbler sooner...like NSCF 14 championship game?

Somehow I don't know how to read; thought for sure Ramusok hosted Utica, but that is clearly not what the schedule says.

Sorry, man. Konigsberg has still done remarkably well for a rookie school. If you don't make the playoffs, you're a lock for the Pioneer Bowl.

If it isn't too late, I'm gonna propose a bowl real quick, just as a way to honor the two conferences I scorinated this season.

The Drawk Corps DRAWK BOWL
Held in Corps Core Stadium, Drawk City, Drawkland. This is also the home stadium of the Drawk Corps, but they wouldn't be eligible for this bowl anyway so there won't be a home field advantage clash.
To be held against the two best teams remaining in the Celestia and Mineral conferences (1 from each) that haven't qualified for the playoffs or another bowl.

Since Kalalau had to take the best remaining offense for their bowl, I couldn't propose the Axe Bowl again :p

Not quite sure how Mount Maris is the 8 seed despite being the number six team. Also not sure how Castle is basically listed as the worst 3 loss team in the competition even though they have the best defense.

Actually Mount Maris are seventh seed.
But anyway, you're conflating the conference standings with the seeding list. They're ranked number six overall when you only look at in-conference play (Standings).

When seeding for the playoffs, strength of schedule becomes a factor and point differential is ignored (as specified in the procedural list).
We used to use the overall standings table for playoff seeding too, but it was changed one season after it was considered unfair. I forget when exactly.

Put simply, Mount Maris have beaten weaker teams, and/or have an inferior away record. So they are ranked lower than other teams.
The worst 3 loss team is actually Ceneisis, who have the best adjusted offense... but have won only seven games (five of them at home) against weaker teams on average.

Admittedly, there are flaws in the system. For example, you can increase OSPI with a loss to a really good team, or decrease it even if you win against a bad team (this is why we have a deadline for arranging non-conference games; to avoid people trying to game the system by cherry picking matchups with teams that will boost OSPI). So I'm considering a re-jig of the formula (or just developing a new system).

I'm just not sure how to get around these flaws yet. I had an idea earlier based on pythagorean expectation. Also considered maybe I could do something based on Elo ratings and just reset everyone at the start of each season; I could also include a point differential variance in that system, potentially... But whatever I do next will take time to devise and test, and then implement. The more complex it is, the harder it is to include it in NSCF procedure, too. I won't always be around to create these spreadsheets, after all. Not to mention the committee vote.

Ehhh... I'll see what I can do before next season.

Oh, never mind then. It looks like I misread the whole thing and mixed up which standings sheet is for which. I suppose I might end up paying in seeding for scheduling such a hard non conference schedule for Mount Maris(the Horizon champion, one bad team, and then a runner up team that could have won their conference easily). I made the schedule with the intention of going all out to make the playoffs, not thinking I would win and clinch automatically. Now it looks like taking the opening loss in nonconference hurt my seeding more than winning against a middle tier team would. I guess Castle still has a shot at making the playoffs though if they get the road upset at Harbor College.

Where is the link to the seeding? I checked the threads, but maybe I just didn't see it.

This is true. You know what else is true? The Lei Bowl, from NSCF 10-13, had already been hosting the team with the best offense against the team with the best defense, so really I am just taking it back...

It may not be immediately obvious for those following my game flows this season, but there have been at least three full backs who have scored on passing plays against the Honu this year. There is a reason for this, and hopefully the way the storylines play out I will get to reveal it this season. I just thought I should clarify that as a fullback scoring on a pass is not entirely the most common way teams score, but it keeps happening to the Honu.

In just under 24 hours, voting for the at-large playoff selections will begin. Committee members, be prepared to submit your votes quickly (within 48 hours) so that we can give everyone the normal allotment of time to RP before the postseason begins on Thursday.

On another note, the timing is absolutely perfect since the RL playoff committee is deliberating this weekend as well! For us NSCFers, it's double the drama! I totally planned that.

It's just about that time of the year when rumors begin flying about where staff members are headed for next season, and my two schools are no exception. Castle hired Marshal Kilpatrick to be their offensive coordinator after letting Xavier Pierce leave for Calix City to take the same role, but they'll still need another coordinator as Cameron Rose is going to take the Maris Mountaineers head coaching job in the G-League. They want another aggressive DC, or a position coach that they can promote, that isn't afraid to gamble and take big risks. They also want someone that can fix up their secondary, which is a major hole in their depth.

Mount Maris also allowed Calix City to hire their DC, Manuel Barboza, meaning that they're in the market for the same position. Whoever attempts to take up that role with them should be ready for heavy pressure, and should be able to lead the front seven to being one of the best ones in college football, both domestic and international. I also MAY be looking to fill a staff with international talent for next season, depending on if I know for sure if I'll have time to RP for or get posts ready ahead of time for a third team in NSCF 16, Red Valley State. I'm not making any promises yet and I'll know by the end of this season but if you guys have any assorted coaches that you want to get promoted, RVSU may be an option.

Eh, it's not so much that this one was early - the first two were just a little late :/

I am partially at fault for not being clearer about the time though. So I went ahead and included your bonus. You're in luck - I saw your RP just before I generated scores.
