Cotdelapoms is not a particularly strong lacrosse nation, but we'd like to enter our first World Lacrosse Championship.

What would a World Lacrosse Championship be without Scott Cushman?

Don't worry, the ageless wonder will return with the rest of his teammates.

OOC: Also, despite this being a new nation, I am going to submit a hostbid. However, that is because this is a puppet nation of someone that has been here for over a year now. If you can let me know whether this is to be in a seperate thread or just in here?

Sign ups updated through Cathais.

Cathais, you would post your host bid here. If your bid is the winning bid after the participants vote, then you would be responsible for deciding when to start the RP thread.

Incidentally, which is your master nation? Most of the time, new nations have a very hard time winning host bids.

The great thing about NS Sports is that it doesn't matter. You can send men and/or women, and you don't even have to send humans. They can be bears, dwarves, penguins, blancmanges, anything.

I know, they could be dancing pieces of dog crap, but this is my first time here and I am learning by the year here, so I decided no harm in asking. (Also, I play lacrosse and their is a big difference in rules based on gender)

Delaclava is right in that it doesn't matter whether you send a male team or a female team or a mixed team.

Polarex is absolutely right that men's and women's lacrosse have two very different rule sets. They're almost completely different sports. For the sake of reference, the rule set I RP with is men's rules.

Bringing People Together Through Sport

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the official hostbid from the nation of Cathatis for the World Lacrosse Championship, edition 9!

Throughout this, I will detail several pieces of vital information that will hopefully, eventually, bring the World Lacrosse Championship to the Cathartites. This will include details of where matches will be played, when they will played, the format of the groups and the knock-out phases and how the matches will be played [i.e. scorination]. So without further ado, the hostbid!

Locations

Image
Stadium Name: Stade du le Président (The President's Stadium)
City: Saint-Peray (Capital City)
Capacity: 42,500

Le Stade du le Président is the largest sports stadium in Cathartis. A multi-purpose sports stadium, it has played host to many sports, including American Football, football, field hockey, rugby and lacrosse. Home to AS Saint-Peráy Lacrosse Club, the seven-times Cathartite champions, the stadium has recently undergone a multi-million dollar restoration, replacing the worn-out seats, tunnel and facilities with state-of-the-art equipment, including heated seats. If the bid is successful, this stadium will be used for one semi-final and the Final.

Image
Stadium Name: Stade Liberté (Freedom Stadium)
City: Valence
Capacity: 29,000

Stade Liberté is a large stadium formerly dedicated primarily to American Football. However, 25 years ago, AS Valence were searching for a new stadium, and agreed a share with the local American football club. Within 5 years, the AF team went bankrupt, leaving AS Valence as the primary tenants. It has continued this way, and in this time, AS Valence have seem their fortunes sky-rocket, brining home 5 Lacrosse Championships and 9 Coupe du Présidents. Not refurbished recently, but still described as one of the easiest stadiums to visit.

Image
Stadium Name: L'Universidad du Arcens (University of Arcens)
City: Arcens
Capacity: 14,250

The stadium at L'Universidad du Arcens is the largest University sports stadium in Cathatis, originally built solely for the University team. Since joint-owned also by AS Arcens, it has undergone massive renovations, paid for by the government, whilst AS Arcens have become the most successful team in the domestic league, winning it 8 times. With under-seat heating and under-pitch heating, no game will ever be disrupted, with a solid drainage system taking away pesky rain, and heating taking away pesky snow.

Image
Stadium Name: Arène du Équité (Justice Arena)
City: Vólanes
Capacity: 12,982

The only indoor arena for lacrosse, the Aréne du Équité is set in the richest part of Vólanes. Owned by AS Vólanes, the stadium has been voted "Best Sports Stadium" in Cathatis 11 years running - coincidentally, the year it was opened. Brand new, with state-of-the-art facilities, there has been no need for refurbishment due to it's young age. AS Vólanes have not won any major championships here, but this down to the team, not the stadium, where the roof creates an echo envied across the nation.

For The Fans...

  • Transport:
As part of the ticket packages, transport to all stadiums and into the nation is supplied. Flights are included from the national airline, Air Cathatis, whilst train travel, bus transfers and accommodation have been included, all part of the package. Upgrades to first-class are available, but all 4 cities are within 35 miles of each other.
  • Merchandise:
Plenty of merchandise will be on sale during the event. At every stadium, specific outlets are being set up to include t-shirts and jackets, caps and socks, plus programmes, and much more
  • Personal Safety:
Cathatis is one of the safest nations on earth, due to a heavy police presence, but this will be stepped up for the competition. A doubling of uniformed police, plus many plain-clothes officers will ensure that all visitors feel safe wherever they are.

Out-Of-Character Stuff:

  • Scorinator:
For this, I shall be using the latest version of XKoranate, 0.3.0, developed and released by Commerce Heights. Obviously, I will be using the "Lacrosse" sport.
  • Time:
All games will be scorinated daily, between 1900 and 2000 GMT (1300 AND 1400 ET).
  • Structure:
The tournament will be structured as follows:
    • Double Round-Robin Group Phase (all teams play each other twice)
    • Quarter-Finals
    • Semi-Finals
    • Third Place Play-Off and Final
    Groups:
I shall follow a system of groups of 4, in a double round-robin system. Should 3 groups be used, the top 2 in each group plus the next best 2 overall shall qualify for the Quarter-Finals. Should 4 groups be used, the top 2 in each group shall qualify for the Quarter-Finals. The final confirmation of the structure shall be confirmed upon the closing of the sign-up thread at the appropriate time, dependant on entries.
  • Tiebreakers:
Overtime will only be used during knock-out rounds. It will not be used during the group stages, allowing ties. The tiebreakers go as follows:
    • Points Earned (3 for a win, 1 for a draw, 0 for a loss)
    • Games Won (highest goes first)
    • Goal Difference
    • Goals Scored
    • Head To Head
    • Away Goals From Head-To-Head
    • Coin Toss
I hope I do not have to use the coin toss, but if bad luck reaches this stage, then so be it.
  • Role-Play Bonus
RP Bonus will have a large effect, having a 17.5% effect on the score list. The quality of RPs shall be at my discretion, and my discretion only.

So in conclusion, I believe I have put together a strong hostbid, and hope that the judges of this competition see fit to award it to the Lacrosse-loving nation of Cathatis!

Signed,

Jean-Claude la Blanche,
Minister for Sport

Hosting isn't about shiny stadiums, it's the ability to do the organizational stuff and get the job done. If you feel you're able to do that, don't let what looks like a sound bid discourage you; you're more than welcome to bid anyway.

That's right, be jealous.

Having met this nation only once before, it is difficult to make an accurate analysis, but it would appear that their technology is rather primitive, and their politics are psychotic at best. Normally we do not attack nations which we do not consider a threat, and we are not making any exception for Jhung. World Lacrosse Championships IX host bid

Mossulia is a small nation with a short history. We are a nation of many sports and this year we are adding Lacrosse to our long entry list. Despite the fact that this is our first Lacrosse Championships we would like to bid to host it. Here are the details:

Format

Depends on the number of sign-up,

If we get 16 sign-ups I will split the teams into four groups of four. Each team will play each other twice, once at home and once away, and the top two from each group go through to the knock-out stages. The knock out stages will be in a similar format to the Euro 2008.

If we get 15 sign-ups I will split the teams into three group of five. Each team will play each other twice, once at home and once away, the eight teams with the best records will go through to the next round. The knock out stages will be in the same format as above.

If we get any more or less I will explore different options.

Tiebreakers

The tiebreakers will be in this order:

1) Number of wins 2) Head2Head 3) Goal difference 4) Goals for 5) Head2Head Goal difference 6) Head2Head Goals for 7) Least goals against 8) Play-off match (In a three way tie this will not be included) 9) Flip of a coin.

Scoreination

I will be using the same excel spreadsheet that Sarzonia and Cassadaigua used in the previous two world championships.

Previous experience

Mossulia have previously scoreinated, as Toiletdonia, The senior cup 1 and 2 and the Toiletdonian International. Otherwise we have scoreinated a domestic league and that is it.

Any questions regarding the bid are welcomed.
