I apologize for the double post, but what is the protocol to get a signup thread posted? I guess I'm still new enough to NSSport that I usually just sit around and wait, but do we need to check with Sarzonia, or could someone (not me) just create one?

It will show up in the options if you open up the XML file in Notepad and change all references to "American Football" to "Arena Football." Otherwise, it will scorinate Arena football when you attempt to use NSFS3/IFAF for American football.

Go right ahead and start signups. I revived it last year based on a mod ruling allowing dormant tournaments to be revived without permission. If permission's needed, you have mine.

For the benefit of Abanhfleft and anybody else planning on bidding, here's the link to the xkoranate files for arena football. I'd strongly recommend using the "World Bowl XXII" formula instead of the "NSFS3" formula because the NSFS3 one has basically zero chance of any upsets ever happening. A scorinator for American football would be inappropriate for the Arena Bowl because arena football scores are very high compared to American football scores.

If there are rankings and the community decides to use them once again, I will of course oblige. However, if the community decides to start fresh, I will also oblige this.

I'd strongly recommend that ranks not be used. They weren't used for either of the last 2 Arena Bowls (not sure about before that since Arena Bowl IV was my first NS Sports tournament) and the last 3 Arena Bowls were around 2 and a half years ago, around 6 and a half years ago and around 8 and a half years ago, respectively.

I'd be fine though with giving every team that enters a small "ranking" to cut down on the scorinator's habit of producing 100-0 blowouts whenever a nation with a roster plays a rosterless nation (although I could just release a new version of the scorinator that cuts down on the number of extreme blowouts by increasing the randomness).

Bumping this back up for discussion of the NS Arena Bowl since we're getting closer to starting up.

I've been thinking that perhaps the NS Arena Bowl could use a bit more structure than having one other two players thinking, "oh, it's been a while since the last Arena Bowl. Maybe I should start sign-ups!"

We don't need a constitution just yet since this is still a small enough competition, but perhaps a small group of people who can create the sign up thread in the future would do the trick. There can be a president either by proclamation or election and a vice president, but at least have something in place in the event we need something done.

Please note that since I'm currently serving as WLC President, I am not interested in becoming President here. I just wanted to get the ball rolling.

Probably a good idea to have at least a few core rules recommending a certain amount of time between competitions and such, too.

Just an idea for a "constitution" of sorts with a guideline for when we open sign-ups.

The NS Arena Bowl Council shall consist of previous hosts of the NS Arena Bowl or its predecessor competition (Sarzonian Indoor Gridball Cup, retroactively named NS Arena Bowl 0). The Council shall provide oversight for events occurring during sign-ups and the Arena Bowl competition. Until such time as a constitution and bylaws specific to the NS Arena Bowl are required, the Council shall generally operate in accordance with the standard customs and norms established in the NS Sports community.

The Council may elect a President and a Vice President from among its ranks or among competitor nations in the competition.

Any prior host may open sign-ups for the NS Arena Bowl after at minimum three months following the conclusion of the previous tournament.

First of all, congrats to Abanhfleft on winning the Arena Bowl, commiserations to everyone else, and thank you to HUElavia for hosting!

I did want to ask HUElavia a question. In light of Golgothastan offering the use of an Arena Football-specific scorinator for the tournament, why did you opt for the standard American football scorinator? The scores, while many of them were in line with the outdoor game, were unusually low for the indoor game.

It's not something that would warrant anything more than curiosity on our part because the tournament was smoothly run, but I am understandably curious.

Congrats to Abanhfleft on their win, and HUElavia it was indeed a very well run and smooth tournament. I will add however I will be very against any future bids using a non-Arena Football scorinator as it really made it hard for me to RP and make it realistic when the scores were so uncommon for the sport.

I did not vote this time because it was a solid bid and no one else had volunteered to bid and so I did not vote against however in the future I would indeed vote against. I just want to second Sarzonia's question regarding why you used the American football scorinator and this is nothing against the way you ran the tournament as it ran smooth and was well hosted.
