NSCF 1
Welcome to Nation States College Football 1 (NSCF 1)! This is the first edition of a very exciting American College Football league that will take place on Nationstates. As originally stated in the signup thread, games will take place ONCE a week. For the inaugural season there will be ten teams, playing nine games each. At the end of the season there will be a four-team playoff (championship and third-place game). Full-team rosters can be found on the signup page for NSCF 1. On this thread you will find everything that has to do with game previews, game reports, recruiting updates, schedules, and other league matters. Check the Signup/Roster thread to find your opponents roster. Good luck everyone!

The Wyvern Sports Page—July 17, 2010

Coming fresh off a domestic national title in a heart-pounding 10-9 win over Tetu College's Raptors in the national championship, the Fighting Wyverns are off once again to international play. The first game will be played at Luther University in front of a crowd estimated to be 15,000, the maximum capacity at Luther Field. 300 Wyverns fans punched their tickets to Newivory to watch the Wyverns play what they play best: smash mouth football.

"Hopefully we can force the more passing oriented Knights into some mistakes in their running game, which will lead to their being forced to be one-dimensional in passing. They're good at it, but if we can shut down the running game, it's easier to focus on the air game," said defensive coordinator Ballard Wright. "I don't usually talk much strategy but that's all I'm telling you. The rest you'll get to see on the TV."

Quarterback Matthew Coulter (SO-RS) had a few words for his upcoming opponents. "We may not pack the best team internationally, but we didn't win the Arkinesian national title for nuthin'. We're going to pack our best game out here, these guys are the best in Newivory and there's a reason for it, just like there's a reason for our being the best back home. We're going to give these guys a run for their money. If they don't pack their A-game, they're gonna see a goose egg on their side of the scoreboard all game." Nobody really knows what he was talking about at the end there. For example, Pennington Tech brought their A-game to Musen University early last season, only to get hammered 52-0. At home, it should be duly noted.

There is much talk and jibber-jabber, but it all matters not on the field. Be sure to watch your Wyverns on the National Sports Network at 3:00 CAT.

Week One Game of the Week
University of Utica (0-0) at Middle Point Academy (0-0)

The first week of the season is filled with some very interesting matchups. Each week CSI (Churchma Sports Inc.) will highlight the biggest game of the week. For week one, the biggest matchup is Utica at Middle Point.

Utica is led by Junior quarterback, Tommy Rhodes. Rhodes told CSI in a recent interview, "We are extremely excited to get this season started. We know Middle Point has one of the biggest stadiums in the league, and we expect that place to fill up. It's going to be a very exciting atmosphere for the first game of the season." Rhodes is right on with that comment, as this game is one of the most highly anticipated games of the week. Rhodes will be looking to Senior wide receiever Forrest Graham as his main target. the Middle Point 4-3 defense will do all they can to slow down Tigers offensive attack.

Utica Offense vs. Middle Point Defense- Advantage Utica
Utica's offense is led by their skill players; and boy do they have a lot of them. Five of their six starting skill guys (besides Karim Ouaddou at TE) are either juniors or seniors. CSI thinks that kind of experience will be difficult for the Rangers to slow down. The Rangers are led by middle linebacker Eugene Medina (one of their only senior starters on defense). Their are only two seniors in their front seven, and that may prove a downfall for the Rangers defense.

Middle Point Offense vs. Utica Defense- Advantage Middle Point
Middle Point is going to come out excited and ready to light up the scoreboard in their first game of the season. This will be the opening night for the monstrous, Milli Stadium. Ranger fans will have that placed packed to the roof and they will all be waiting for Middle Point to score. The Rangers will be led by Senior wide receiver Enrique Ramirez. Ramirez is a tall, slender guy that has the speed to get past his defender. Look for Ramirez to score at least one or two touchdowns. The Utica 4-3 defense will be led by star defensive end Antonio Martinez. Martinez is the kind of guy that wrecks havoc all day long- and the Rangers will be scared of running the ball to his side by the time the game is over.

Prediction: Utica 31, Middle Point 23
Utica's high-firing offense looks as if it's going to be too much for Middle Point to handle in the first game of the year. Middle Point's best chance in this one is to jump out on top early, and ride the momentum until the end of the game- because the crowd will be behind them all day long. Utica's experience will be the determining factor in this one.

Tenth team added to the league: Sniper University
Churchma Sports Inc.

NSCF officials have met in Moorhatch for the past week to determine whether or not the Sniper University Trojans from the Peace Republic could join the league. They determined in a 13-2 vote to let the Trojans join the NSCF.

"I know the season is ever so close, but this team seems dedicated to do what is necessary for them to be prepared come opening day. It's not going to be easy, but after talking to Sniper U officals we determined that they will be involved in the league. The only condition at this point, is that we're not going to promise how many home games they have in the first season," NSCF president Steven Martell said in a press conferene early Tuesday morning.

It works out conveniently that there are nine teams in the league right now, because Sniper can join in where there are supposed to be bye weeks for every team. But under the only stipulation about joining the league, the official schedule hasn't been released.

"We will do whatever is necessary to join the league, even if we have some type of disadvantage for the first season," Sniper University athletic director told the CSI late Tuesday night.

With this tenth team in the leauge, each team will now play nine games. Opening day is still scheduled for Thursday.

There is a great mood in Tubriss ahead of the opening week of the NSCF. Utica had moderate success in the shortlived ICAA, but since then, the fans at The Pit have had to settle for a fourth OCGL Championship in six years. Nothing to be frowned at, of course. However, this does come with the caveat that those very same fans will expect success again.

If there is one major strength in the Tigers' style of play, which can deliver what the fans want... its the offense. The pass heavy style - which is versatile enough to change to a running offense when necessary - pleases the Tubrissian fans in ways no other style can. Gifted QB Tommy Rhodes is widely considered to be the eventual heir to the mantle of Firebirds offensive captain - following in the footsteps of Utica Bears QB Leon Saint. The two are very similar in playing style, and when Rhodes enters the draft, expect the Bears to trade everything and anything to get first pick so they can snap him up. Rhodes' greatest talent doesnt lie in his accurate arm, or his scrambling, but rather his vision. The kid sees everything. That, combined with his almost telepathic connection to his receivers - Graham and Alexander - makes the Tigers hard to defend against when they really want to air it out.

Now, in all things, there must be a balance. As good as the Tigers offense is... the defense is less convincing. There are some big, heavy-hitting guys in there, and they will definitely look to steamroll some of Middle Point's men, but - like the Firebirds at the Baptism of Iron eight years ago - they will struggle to keep up tactically. Head Coach Mike Zampese has already identified - as predicted by several media outlets - that the main threat from Middle Point is Enrique Ramirez. Most likely, Zampese will ask senior cornerback Brandon Thomas to cover Middle Point's big scoring receiver. While Thomas is an accomplished defensive back, its hard to see him really locking down a man of Ramirez's quality. The only real hope for Utica therefore, might be the strength of their defensive line. It has been suggested that freshman Carlos Baker may be the weak link in what appears to be an impressive - and rather experienced - Utica D-Line, and its likely Middle Point will target him. Their offensive line appears stronger than their defensive, which does not bode well for the Tigers. Realistically, Zampese will probably expect his side to simply outscore the opposition. A very Osarian - specifically Tubrissian - way to approach the game. But if it aint broke...

RCU Football Team takes on Northumberland in NSCF week 1!

It's finally here! The much anticipated NSCF, Nation States College Football, has their first day of games scheduled for tomorrow. The whole campus here at RCU is buzzing wit excitement. We have over 50,000 students here and a campus survey reported that 79% of the student body would be watching the game on television and 4% would actually be travelling to Silver Beach to watch the game! It seems the prospect of facing off against colleges from around the world has really excited people not just at RCU but all over Ramusok as well. Cosumar Sports Broadcasting Network is expecting record ratings for a college sporting event. All of this would have seemed impossible until the nation of Churchma had a brilliant idea and founded the NSCF with Colden University as their sole participant. Even with all the local support, with 10 great teams this season, it will be tough for our Dragons.

Universities from the nations of Churchma, Newivory, Cosumar, Auremena, Silver Beach, Arkinesia, Apachawk, Osarius, Wadomia, and Peace Republic will be participating this season. Tomorrow, as mentioned previously RCU's season opener will be played in Silver Beach at Northumberland University. So far it has been very difficult for Coach Barry Feldman to prepare the team because little is known about the Northumberland team except that they are called the Lions, they are coached by a Nick Beitz, and the name of their stadium. When asked about how they were preparing for the mysterious Northumberland team coach Barry Feldman responded with the following quote.

"Well we know next to nothing about them. Northumberland hasn't announced a roster or any information about how they play. So we don't have much technical knowledge about these guys. We do know that they are some of the best college athletes Silver Beach has to offer. They will be a good team, but we must be better. So we're just not going to worry about them and focus on improving ourselves so that we are prepared for tomorrow." he said.

It appears that here in RCU, students and fans alike are very optimistic at Cosumar's chances to open up with a win tomorrow. In another survey 77% of fans predicted that the silver-and-blue would emerge victorious. With what many call "RCU's best team ever" it's hard to believe they will be unsuccessful. Instead of heading to the pros QB Jacob Feldman returned for his junior year and so have his favorite targets TE Jason White and WR Jonathan Sharp. With RB Thomas Harrison added into the mix and a sturdy O-Line led by Earl Parrow, the offense is looking ready to go. The defense...less so. The defense is very young and features three underclassmen starters and an additional 4 that have never started before. However, youth does not always equal sloppy play. These fresh faces may be a positive factor, who knows?

The main guy to look out for on RCU's defense is Middle Linebacker Jakk Klyde. He is a senior and he has started every year here. He made the All-Cosumar first team and is predicted to be the number one draft pick next year. He can truly pummel the quarterback but he is also an elite pass coverer. If you watch the game look out for the Klyde Killer Rush, RCU's signature blitz.

With all these players returning and so many future CADFA (Cosumar's pro league) players it is difficult to see this RCU team losing to anybody, let alone some team won't even bother to release a roster. That's right the Roaring Dragon is predicting a Cosumar victory, 28-13. But it is hard to know for sure, the Dragons are running into a dark tunnel-they have no idea what tey're in for. But hopefully, they'll be ready for whatever Northumberland has to offer.

Colden University prepares for Trojans

There is one word that can clearly define what Bearcat Head Coach Miles Parker is feeling the day before their season opener: ecstatic. The buzz around Colden's campus is absolutely insane, and it's estimated that Dorrel Stadium will fill up within the first hour that the gates are opened. Tickets on the 50-yard line on CEBAY have gone for upwards of 400 churchmas ($400) per seat. Just about everyone in the Lexington area (suburb of Moorhatch) is feeling the excitement. Even though this game was announced only a week before actual kick-off, the Bearcats are going to be ready.

"Even though Sniper U joined the league very late, we know that we're going to be ready for them. We've played teams like them before- they're very offensive minded. They're going to try and spread out our defense to create matchups in their favor. But you can beat your tail end that we will be in their quarterbacks face all game long. If does have a few touchdown passes he's also going to be leaving the stadium bruised up," said the never-quiet head coach, Miles Parker.

The Sniper University Trojans feature a very young offense, that will be led by starting quarterback Taylor Bean. The Trojans don't have a single starter on the offensive side of the ball. That kind of youth will most likely be their downfall.

"They are probably the youngest team in the leauge. All those boys will be extremely wide-eyed when they walk into Dorrel Stadium and they see 90,000 fans screaming at them. Our fans are ruthless, and they're going to be hearing it all game long. Just for their sake, I hope they all have short term memory, otherwise they might quit at half time because they're so upset," Paker said.

The Bearcats offense is led by star quarterback Stuart Gildon. It's hard to walk anywhere in Churchma and find somebody that hasn't heard that name before. He has the complete package- true competitor, phenomenal athlete, and great player. Gildon will be throwing touchdowns all game long to sophomore Travis Garcia and senior Cedric Saunders. Those three are going to be nearly impossible to matchup with this season. Look for some big things out of them.

"It's tough to make sure we all stay level-headed. But we let coach (Parker) do all the talking for us. We just need to go out and be ready to play tomorrow against Sniper U. We know they're a very offensive minded team, which is bad news for their defense. We're going to do whatever is necessary to light up that scoreboard for our fans," Gildon said.

CSI Prediction
The youth and inexperience from Sniper's key players will be their downfall. They have to come in and play an experienced team in Dorrel Stadium. That recipe spells nothing but disaster for the Trojans. Look for the Bearcats to jump out early and never look back. Colden will win this one by at least three touchdowns.

The Wyvern Sports Page—July 23, 2010

After dropping off by ten points early in the first half, the Wyverns fought tooth and nail and allowed only three points in the last 34 minutes of play at Luther University. Luther's Knights simply couldn't contain maniacal sophomore Matt Coulter as he threw, tossed, and scrambled to a 18-for-31, 297-yard performance, one passing touchdown, and no interceptions. He also had 85 rushing yards on the game for a total of 382 yards by one player. Halfback Dale Hayes clocked a 126-yard, one TD appearance and even collected 22 receiving yards.

The defense was hardly any worse. After allowing ten consecutive points, the defense allowed only three more and 63 yards. They also collected four turnovers, including a fumble recovery. Four sacks dominated Luther's passing attack, and the passing attack was not resultant of any of the Knights' 13 points.

Overall the Wyverns look primed for the kill.

Colden University Week One Recap
Colden dominates in first game of the season; beats Sniper 50-20
Churchma Sports Inc.

Bearcat quarterback Stuart Gildon sliced through the Trojans defense on Thursday afternoon like a knife through butter. Gildon started the game off with a touchdown pass on their first drive and ended his last drive the same way. Throughout the game the talented signal-caller amassed 342 yards passing, going 27-39 passing, while throwing for five touchdowns and no interceptions. That kind of game is what everyone in the Republic knows he's capable of; now the rest of the world knows about him too.

"I know its cliche to get interviewed after the game and thank my linemen, backs, and receivers, but really this is all thanks to them. The line didn't give up one sack all day long. The backs gave us great run support, and the receivers were finding holes in the defense all day. All of that adds up to making it pretty easy for me to do my job," said the humble quarterback.

It wasn't just the offense that shined in the season opener at Dorrel Stadium in front of a near capactiy crowd of 88,792 fans. The defense played great, only allowing two touchdowns all game long- both of which occured in the first half. The Bearcat defense was led by outside linebacker Sherwood Johnson. Johnson finished the day with ten solo tackles, five assisted tackles, one interception, and one forced fumble.

"All of that film work truly paid off. We knew what kind of sets the Trojans would try and run against us- and we were ready for it. There were countless times today that I knew where their runningback was going before the ball was even snapped. I have to give some of the credit to our coaching staff for getting us ready for today," Johnson said.

The highlight of the day came in the middle of the second quarter when Gildon hit his favorite receiver, Travis Garcia, on a 49-yard touchdown pass. Garcia lined up wide-right, ran a beautiful post-corner route, and then jumped over Sniper's free safety and caught the ball. Garcia then scampered down the sideline untouched- showing off his blazing 4.37 forty yard dash speed- on his way to the endzone.

Next up for the Bearcats is Middle Point Academy (0-1) on the road. MPA was crushed by Utica last week, and it looks as if the powerful and explosive Colden team should do the same thing. Whether or not the Bearcats are on the road or at home against MPA, look for the good-guys to come out on top by at least two touchdowns.

HSU wins first game against Novibruk University 17-9
Story by Logan Allred

After entering the NSCF 1, Hudson State has been working extremely hard for this event, and all of the hard work paid off this week after beating Novibruk University (Auremena) with the score of 17-9 in Week One of the tournament. After winning the WCF Championship, Hudson State decided to take their strength to the next level. Head Coach Rob Sanders thought this is a great challenge for his team to go against other teams from all over the world.

Head Coach Jeff George was really impressed with the defense's performance as they were able to catch two interceptions and hold the opponent to field goals only. DT Kenneth Johnson was all over the opponent QB as he was able to sack him 4 times (Ties school record). RB Marcus Davis was able to break away from two tackles as he ran for a 53 yard touchdown with only 4:56 left in the 4th quarter.

Hey yo Tommy,

I've heard recently about some foreign recruits being brought to the University of Arkinesia from a couple of different countries. Do you know who they are or whether these rumors are true?

Hey Mike,

There is truth to these rumors. UArk brought in three recruits, two from outside of Arkinesia. Leonard Coulter (younger brother of UArk sophomore QB Matthew Coulter), Claude N'Daiye, an offensive tackle from Osarius, and Martin Delfino, a halfback from Cosumar.

Some comments made by the players during their visit:

Leonard Coulter (6' 3", 238, Arkinesia)—"I like the campus a lot, I see why Matt decided to go here. I like the setup of the offense. I'm similar in my quarterbacking style to Matt, so I could slide right in here at UArk when he leaves. I'd come in during his junior-redshirt season, so he'd only be here at best three more years…I could redshirt and take his place as a sophomore, get some game experience…okay, now I'm just rambling.
Claude N'Daiye (6' 4", 311, Osarius)—"The guys playing O-line right now are pretty nice. They're a tight group but welcome newcomers and visitors with open arms. I wouldn't mind playing for a unit like this. I would line up pretty closely to their size as well."
Martin Delfino (5' 10", 216, Cosumar)—"Dale is pretty chill. He is a good teacher from what I saw him doing with the Arkinesian recruits and the other halfback in the UArk lineup. I would feel very comfortable if I was going to be learning the college level game from him."

Coulter's had UArk at the top of his list ever since he was a kid really. The chances of him going elsewhere are pretty slim, barring an amazing campus tour. That said, most schools would want his brutish scrambling, coupled with his almost magical passing ability (even if his attack is a bit limited in range). I've not heard of the other two before, but N'Daiye's blocking skills are impressive to say the least, and Delfino would bring a similar rushing attack to what's in place at UArk currently, and would have no trouble fitting into the system. Chances are high that as a freshman, he could come in as a backup to Hayes. There's a possibility Hayes could redshirt next season, which could give Delfino the chance of a lifetime.

RCU Football Team defeats Northumberland in NSCF week 1; Luther next

The Ramusok Capital University football team has been the subject of every sports show, campus newspaper, talk show, and news special all over Cosumar. If you don't know why you either live under a rock or spend all your time playing some government simulator with a cool forum. The hype about RCU Dragons is that they are representing Cosumar in the first season of NSCF! What's so special about this is that this is the first time Cosumar has ever entered in a international collegiate competition. After the first game against Silver Beach's Northumberland, RCU proved they could beat out the college cream of the crop from other nations by beating them 17-3.

In the game against Northumberland, RCU's defense is what stood out. The Dragons held NU to 3 points and only 4 first downs in the entire game. The final score of the game was 17-3 and earned RCU a five way tie for best record so far and established RCU as one of the teams to beat. Although it wasn't exactly a pretty game on the other side of the ball (2 turnovers and some poor execution) the Dragons got the job done and that's what counts. But there was some encouraging signs on offense.

The offensive highlight of this game was Lawrence Northcutt's running. The running back had 27 carries for 219 yards on the game and 2 touchdowns. If he can keep this up it will be very useful in the week 2 game against Luther. As a sophomore he wasn't exactly expected to play like he did. Running back was one of the positions considered a potential weak spot in pre-season analysis. Northcutt proving his skill is definitely a big deal for the team.

"That Northumberland game was the best I've ever ran in my life I think. My yards per carry was somewhere around 8. Believe it or not, I was actually so nervous prior to the game I was puking in the locker room toilets. This was my first start for RCU, and if I screwed it up my career would be over. I am incredibly pleased with how the game turned out for me. But none of that matters if we don't win. Personal statistics aren't my priority, winning is." Lawrence Northcutt said in a post-game interview.

The question everyone is asking here in Cosumar is will the Dragons play like this week in and week out, was this just a fluke, or is Northumberland just very bad? We don't know. Hardly anything is known about the team of Northumberland before last week's game. But to us, the Dragons looked pretty damn good. They may not always win, but its hard to imagine guys like Feldman, Klyde, Sanchez, and Finnigan being beat up out there every week. I guess this means RCU will actually get their first real test against Newivory's Luther University next week.

While Northumberland had a very defense oriented style of play, Luther will have a much more offense minded gameplan. Even Coach Bernt knows there is no way that the Dragons will be able to hold the Luther Lions to 3 like they did NU. Overall, Luther is expected to be a tougher matchup. Last week, the Lions narrowly lost to a very good Arkinesia Wyverns team 20-13. Luther pose a threat to RCU because they have some tools that could make them very dangerous. It is widely known that Luther has one of the best O-Lines. Riley Crawford and Jake Hart are beasts that can pummel their way through most D-Linemen. Their skill position players aren't particularly talented but because of the stellar O-Line the QB Kyle McCrackford usually gets all the time he needs and there are always gaping holes for RB Greg Hatford to dash through.

"Wow, yeah. We watched some tape and Luther's O-Line has some big muscular guys. A a first time starter and sophomore D-Lineman that is gonna have to line up against these guys you might say I'm a little anxious. But I have confidence in me, Simon, Artis, and Barry (other starting defensive linemen). The Lions line may be bigger but we aren't gonna let them walk all over us. We'll show 'em a little something they aint seen before." Defensive Lineman Marcellus Bridgewater said.

What Ramusok Capital needs to do to obtain their second win here is apply constant pressure to McCrackford. If we do some heavy blitzing and get 'em off balance we will force him to make mistakes they can shut the Lions offense down. This should be possible with the famous Linebacker trio Klye, Hardiman, and Knotts. Then, if Northcutt runs well again and Feldman makes some plays the Dragons should have this one in the bag.

That's right, the Roaring Dragon predicts a Cosumar victory by a score of 24-20. Luther will score some points, that much is unavoidable. But if the Dragons do some things right, which we believe they will, they should have the upper hand in this one. Another factor to consider is home field advantage. Tomorrow is RCU's first home game and we're sure Capital Coliseum will be packed with fans of the blue-and-silver.

Middle Point Mauled

Tommy Rhodes put up some of the best numbers of his career in Apachawk City last night as his Tigers unit roared to a 34-3 victory over their hosts. The Tubriss-born Quarterback completed 16 of 18 passes for 224 yards, and three touchdowns. His favourite target for the night - Forrest Graham - later said "I don't think I've ever seen Tommy throw that well, not even in training." as he finished the game with seven catches for 143 yards and two touchdowns. The entire Tigers offense was on point, with 100% red zone scoring, and 7 of 8 third downs converted. In their attempts to avoid dangerous defensive end Antonio Martinez, Middle Point seemed to target Utica's right side. Unfortunately they came up against an in form Aaron Richardson instead, seeing the Tigers' linebacker rack up a forced fumble and an interception to go with his seven tackles for the game.

Despite the scoreline, and mammoth stats from Utica, their hosts impressed with some offensive strength of their own. Middle Point had started aggressively, quickly pushing the Tigers back inside their own 40 yard line. However, Matthew Coulter lost a fumble after Aaron Richardson - the Tigers' star defensive man - managed to break through and land a big hit on the Middle Point QB. From there, the Tigers offense edged into the Middle Point half before suddenly springing to life and moving into a scoring position after a 29 yard pass to Kyle Alexander. A short pass over the top to Karim Ouaddou, and a 16 yard pass to Forrest Graham followed to open the scoring. Middle Point came back after the kickoff, and once again managed to drive the ball into Tigers' territory. However, this time they missed a 41 yard field goal. The home fans grew frustrated at their team's apparently inability to convert the chances after some solid build-up play, and it seemed to carry over to the players. The Tigers advanced 15 yards thanks to penalties on their next drive, before Paul Atkinson made it a ten point lead.

Middle Point regrouped, and came at Utica with real intent, mixing up the pass and the rush en route to the Utica 15 yard line. The Utica line managed to stop Dale Hayes' run on first down for no gain, before Aaron Richardson sacked Matthew Coulter on the second attempt for a loss of three yards. On third down, a TD pass attempt was swatted away by Rigo Kopumava, just ahead of Mark Whalen, much to the frustration of Middle Point's fans. There was nothing the Tigers could do to stop the field goal, though. Payback for the Tigers came from the kickoff, though. Jermaine Williams - thanks in part to some good blocking - returned the kick to the Middle Point 36 yard line. Rhodes picked out Alexander for 12 yards, then Graham on two consecutive passes for a total of 18, before Sheldon Taylor completed a 6 yard run to put Utica 17-3 ahead at half time.

The second half began a little less intensely, with Utica coming up against a seemingly more focused Middle Point defense. In the entire third quarter, the Tigers didn't reach the red zone once, although Paul Atkinson did manage to hit another field goal from 28 yards. On the other hand, Middle Point seemed to be in the ascendancy. Two more drives in the third quarter from the home side got them within 40 yards of the Utica endzone, however, another missed field goal and a fumble conspired to keep them off the scoring charts.

The final quarter saw Utica force a punt from Middle Point, before edging forward again. Rhodes then completed a 50 yard pass to Forrest Graham to effectively end the game. The final score of the game was yet to come, though, as Aaron Richardson intercepted a Coulter pass which eventually led to Karim Ouaddou's catch from an 11 yard Tommy Rhodes pass for Utica's third touchdown of the night.

Week 2 of NSCF: Wadomia loses 20-17 against Utica

Wadomia leaves Week 2 of the NSCF with a 1-1 record after losing to Utica 20-17 as Utica was able to score a last minute field goal in the 4th quarter with only 0:03 seconds left on the clock. Hudson State's defense once again showed much aggression on the other side of the ball. HB Marcus Davis ran for a total of 2 touchdowns and 178 yards. Here are the comments from players and coaches from the last press conference:

Head Coach Jeff George - "Our players work very hard and they play hard and want to win. I guess a coach couldn't want anything more than that, huh?
HB Marcus Davis - "I have not worked harder than any football event I've ever been in"
Defense Coach Jamesy Brown - "Our defense could have done better at the very last minute of that game to keep the other team from scoring a field goal, but other than that I'm very proud of them."

The Hudson State v.s University of Utica game reached a record for most watched sporting event in Wadomia ever reaching up to 23 million viewers. As the weeks go by, the TV Broadcast Companies predict it will reach from 23 million to 200 million by week 9 if the viewers keep increasing at the same rate.

An international campaign rolls on for the Wyverns as they shut out the powerfully offensive Northumberland State Lions 17-0. Coach Welker had a few things to say about this game.

"First off, we had a great defensive game," said Welker, stating the abundantly obvious. "We also had a lot less trouble offensively than the scoreboard would suggest. In spite of a struggle early on we managed to conquer those difficulties and were a scoring threat on every drive." Quarterback Matt Coulter (SO-RS) had a few words of his own. "The fact that I didn't get sacked even once says a lot about the defense of our opponents'." Indeed, UArk put in its own solid defensive standing, allowing no points and picking off five passes from the Lions' quarterback, who was for some reason never benched.

"It's the first shutout in NSCF history, and we're damn proud of it. Big advertiser for the school, and proof that offensive-minded teams simply won't compete against us. They're gonna lose by hook or by crook," said defensive coordinator Ballard Wright of the performance. His defense was magnificent, only allowing 94 total offensive yards all game. "The total shutdown of the quarterback made my boys' lives a little easier out there. He was scared into the run in spite of the passing spread that the Lions typically run. Thus his main weapons were made impotent and his passing options were limited all game thanks to our careful mix-ups in coverage. When he thought we'd go into a zone, we manned up. When he thought we'd man up, we'd drop back in a zone. Our Tampa 2 set worked like magic in this game, and throwing the occasional man package threw him for a loop."

Our Wyverns are out there kicking butt and taking names, and are ranked #3 in the latest official polls out of Churchma, receiving an impressive 24 first-place votes in the poll. Here's to the Wyverns' continued success!
