Not necessary

Then I'd be up to host it if you explained what I need to do and what it's about.

Are there any Cricket (T20 or Test) scorinators or Association Football Scorinators that can be done online without downloading stuff? iPhones are awkward :(

I have not personally used the site, but I know that several people think https://www.leaguesimulator.eu/ does a nice job for football. I can't say I know of any cricket scorinators out there, but that doesn't necessarily mean they're not out there; I just haven't really looked into that much.

For test cricket, Apoxballer is a google.doc spreadsheet application.
You can find Apox's post about it here: https://forum.nationstates.net/viewtopic.php?p=34603590#p34603590

Hey, I'd just say am I allowed to pull out of the BoF, and retake part in it the next time? Because I hava a crisis happening now, and am unable to RP.

If you withdraw from the BoF (or any other competition in progress), as per the rules of NS Sports, your team will play its remaining game(s) in the group and then be eliminated, whether they qualify for the knockouts or not.

For the BoF specifically, each nation only gets to enter the BoF once; there are no second chances. There's nothing to stop you from trying again in the next BoF with a new nation, but Soviet Micronesia cannot try again.

In the grand scheme of things, not RPing in or being knocked out of the BoF earlier than you'd hope is not really a huge deal from a technical perspective, as the ranking points gained are very minor and are only a slight pre-WC boost that you can easily exceed with (probably, depending on the host's judging scheme) a day or two of good RPs. The BoF's ranking boost is a little bonus, but it's also more about getting you into the swing of Sports RPing and seeing how tournaments are run, perhaps developing early rivalries and other nations to look at and compare yourself to.

I wouldn't bother withdrawing if the only problem is being too busy to RP.

Not necessarily an RP question, but does NS Sports have an auto-racing series of some kind? (I realize that this may not be the best place for this question, feel free to direct me elsewhere to get an answer).

That would be the World Grand Prix Championships and its affiliated series! The thread for the World Grand Prix Organisation, which oversees all of them, is here. The seventeenth instalment of the WGPC is just about to start and I'm still looking for a few foreign drivers for my domestic series, so now's a great time to jump in!

For something on a slightly smaller scale there's also my own domestic championships which are open to foreign nations, though it's a bit late for new full-season entries now.

The three scorinated championships cover sportscar/GT, open-wheel, and rally disciplines. The GT and open-wheel championships are respectively and loosely based on the real-life Japanese Super GT and Super Formula championships. As I don't follow rally anywhere nearly as closely as I follow Super GT, the Hodoran rally championship's regulations aren't strongly based on any one series.

While I have said that it's late for new full-season entries, there are still vacancies for teams in GT2 and Formula Hodori. Any new entries by this point however are limited to a single car in either championship and won't see ballast reductions until the final rounds.

There is also NSSCRA: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=435639

It's a stock car racing series. It's fun, but may be a while before the next season.

If you're looking to hop into something ASAP, WGPC or Hodori's thing are likely to get your guys behind the wheel sooner.

I definitely think a newsfeed should tell a story, which is what I'm trying to do with mine as a way of not only keeping myself interested, but potentially drawing in others.

I hate newsfeeds that are just reams of results and a league table so I feel yours strikes a healthy balance between telling a story and just using it for record-keeping.

I would argue I like to read about players and teams in more detail, but I wanted to get a feel for what the general feeling is as I would rather put my newsfeed on its own blog if it's going to get the same number of readers! :D

I know this post is kinda old, but I've actually fed off of this thought. I don't really want to just put in scores and standings, maybe add more team/player information as well.

Should I post a quals thread? I don't know what to scorinate in the meantime and I'm scared that mods will delete it for opening too many threads. Maybe merging the thread with Redemption Cup wouldn't be a bad idea, you know, to save space for the minor competitions.

I'm not sure what you mean, exactly, by posting a quals thread; however, I'd caution that you don't need to scorinate anything in the meantime. If you're interested in scorinating an existing event, you can do that; all you need to do is submit a host bid & try to convince people why you should scorinate their tournament. If you're interested in scorinating a completely new event that is not currently on the forums, you can also do that, but if you do decide to do this, do it because you're genuinely interested & passionate about the sport or the event, not just because it gives you something to do in the meantime.

If you want something to do, signing up for existing, established tournaments as a participant is a great way to do that; RPing can improve your writing a lot, & interacting with other users via RPs can be a great way to learn more a lot about NS Sport. Further, by participating, you can see what experienced hosts do, so you can emulate their successes & avoid any mishaps (if any) to improve your own hosting in the future. That is how many reliable hosts in NS Sport got to where they are today. They didn't rush in to host all they could every moment they could; they waited & they learned, & they became better & more trustworthy hosts for it. If you want to host big things in the future, that's how I'd recommend starting out.

On another subject, I'd also note that mods' work is demanding as it is, especially for a position that is operated on a completely volunteer basis; for all new tournaments, it is always a good idea to keep the number of threads to a minimum.

Adding to what Qusmo has already said, for all but the largest tournaments (namely the World Cup and Olympics), typically you need - at most - two threads: a signup thread where players sign up for the competition and (if applicable) a host is selected, and an "everything" thread where players post their rosters and RPs and the host posts the results. Some smaller tournaments may even combine the signup and everything threads to reduce clutter. Tournaments with an established history may also also have a separate discussion thread where announcements and OOC discussion can take place. However, this is typically only needed for those competitions which have at least a few previously completed editions, are regularly occurring, and have enough participants to warrant it. In smaller tournaments, the signup thread can also serve as a discussion thread, if needed.

tl;dr - Keep the threads to a minimum (a signup/OOC and roster/RP/results/IC thread is usually enough), but unrelated tournaments should have separate threads.

To clear any confusion, I am heavily interested in scorinating boxing and are passionate about the sport itself. That's why I want to update my own competition whenever I can. I didn't know that the host gets to scorinate all matches involved in said competition so I will learn the ropes until May as I watch trusted hosts scorinate and roleplay in the competitions that I signed up for. In addition, from reading the last section of your advice I was thinking of making a nation that manages MOSER winners, leaderboards, stats and the host bid. In short, it would take time swapping back and forth from Geektopia to MBC Signups, but I was committed from MD1! I must hope that you wish me good luck in this endeavour as I plan out my schedule afterhand.

That sounds great. An official MOSER nation seems like a fine idea to me, too, if you're up with making it. (Also, something I'm curious on: What, exactly, does MOSER mean?) With the caveat that, admittedly, I can't speak for EQS, I do believe that I speak for them & for the rest of the community when I say that it's great that you're seeking advice from others & that we hope you learn, grow, & succeed as a host & in your future endeavours in NS Sport. Good luck!

MOSER is the last name of Geektopia's 32nd glorious leader who passed (we currently have 35 now) and when boxing was on he'd leak out his chitin watching the sport in stadiums. He sure loved a good match, so when he passed the peoples of Geektopia made MBC and kept it private as a national tournament until it was revealed to the sports forum and revitalized to an international tournament

OOC: Hello everyone! I am fairly new to this Sports RP as I have never participated but have taken interest in roleplaying along with you all. I'm wondering if this possibly the right thread in discussing the sports over Soccer itself and what is needed to be organised. I'm looking into Football [Soccer], Baseball and Basketball for the Republic of China. My nation itself based on the fictional world of how the KMT itself won the civil war against the CCP.

Cheers!

If you have a general question, by all means drop it in this thread, otherwise head on over to the sport-specific ones and interested parties will be happy to answer any queries you have about getting started in NS Sports. You may wish to get in on the 27th International Basketball Championships Signups, which are currently on-going, while for general discussion around the major sports you mention as being interested in, those relevant threads (all of which are OOC) are:

As in a factbook that is on your own nation page, rather than a forum post? Yes, of course.

Hi All,
I've scorinated some results for my domestic league on NSFS3, but I can't seem to save the league in progress. Whenever I try, It comes up with "Error 1202". Does anyone have any advice to help with this?
