Having an unclear format and dozens of top level teams might be fun to set up, but it's very hard to read. I like it when teams have some sort of identity, be it through a graphic, logo, adjective, motto, city, mascot or team colour, as those make the league (and the team) feel most alive to me. Having one or two household players to come back to per team are fun too, though I'm not going to expect someone to retain even one name from my domestic thread. Also I like it when people can make the consequences of a match or a ranking clear, instead of just colour-coding it. I don't know what the colours mean, is it qualification for UICA? Playoffs? Relegation? Relegation playoffs?
Basically, make me invested in your league or even just one team.
I like to think my domestic thread is a good example (see my sig), but I wouldn't mind some feedback on my domestic posts either.
I definitely think a newsfeed should tell a story, which is what I'm trying to do with mine as a way of not only keeping myself interested, but potentially drawing in others.
I hate newsfeeds that are just reams of results and a league table so I feel yours strikes a healthy balance between telling a story and just using it for record-keeping.
I would argue I like to read about players and teams in more detail, but I wanted to get a feel for what the general feeling is as I would rather put my newsfeed on its own blog if it's going to get the same number of readers!
