A doubt I've had in the last years. When it comes to define transfers, fees and costs related to sports, do you use your nation currency or stick to Universal Currency?

Universal currency. Although when it comes to transfers it's more-or-less meaningless as everyone has different realism scales.

IC'ly everything paid either to a Savojar sports association/authority or a Savojar team must be paid in Savojar Kronor. However, I always give the equivalent in NS$. But I don't keep track of my team's finances, so it's more of a ballpark measure anyway.

It's an idea that was around last season before the WGP2. It didn't really go anywhere as the person most keen on having it CTEd, but that's not to say people aren't still interested.

I'd recommend the WGPO thread for further discussion.

Hey guys, are there any baseball tournaments open now? And is the Quidditch tournament open again? Also, I'm thinking of starting a figting championship. Any ideas on the scorinator?

When does the 81st NSWC start, how does qualifying work, and how do i create a team for it?

They haven't pinned down an exact date yet, as far as I can tell. The thread for World Cup discussion is here: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=319202

You create a team by posting a roster, like what people have done in this thread: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=441130 This link is from the previous World Cup. The roster thread for WC 81 has not been created yet. If you are doing Baptism of Fire, that will be in a separate thread, but you can make your roster the same way.

USS Monitor had some great answers, but I'd like to add to your question on the qualifying process. Unfortunately, again, there isn't any determinative answer for you yet, but generally, all the teams who sign up are divided into double round robin qualifying groups (where each team plays each other team in the group twice), & the top one or two finishers in each group qualify to the World Cup, while the next one or two finishers advance to a playoff (if one exists) for a chance at a spot in the World Cup berth.

The exact format will ultimately be determined by the numbers of sign-ups & the hosts. There are two competing host bids now, & they propose qualifying groups of anywhere from six to ten teams. In most of the potential formats, the top two teams qualify & playoffs are not employed at all, the top team qualifies automatically & the runner-up advances to the playoffs, the top team qualifies & the next two teams advance to the playoffs, or some similar mechanism is used.

For a more specific example (though one which will not necessarily be used next time), in the last edition of the tournament, there were 152 teams signed up. Two were the co-hosts of the tournament, & they automatically qualified. The other 150 teams were sorted into 15 qualifying groups of 10 teams each. The winner of each group qualified automatically to the World Cup, while the second & third place teams advanced to a playoff for a spot in the World Cup. That left 15 qualified through winning their group, 15 qualified through winning a playoff, & two qualified through hosting the World Cup, for 32 spots total.

I hope that helps clear things up!

Well, we're currently having the big regional football competitions, so once those are nearly done (in a week or two probably), the Baptism of Fire will start. WC qualifying can only start once the BoF finishes. At a rough guess, we're looking at 4-6 weeks for qualifying to start.

I'd guesstimate it will be closer to the end of that window since we currently don't have any BoF bids yet and the regional tournaments are only just getting started with the actual competition phase (Atlantian Oceania starts this evening, but Rushmore and Esportiva haven't even finished host voting yet). We'll need at least one BoF bid, a week for voting, probably two or three weeks for the BoF to run to completion, and then a week or two between the end of the BoF and MD1 of qualifying. The actual roster and RP threads for the WC will likely be up well before the start of qualifying, but I wouldn't expect us to actually start qualifying before the second week of August or thereabouts.

How would I make a circuit for WGP2, is there a website I can make it on? I don't want to pay for anything?

MS Paint works well enough. Just a use a bunch of straight lines, and then the curved line tool for the corners.

What would be a good scorinator for a league that does 5v5 style soccer/football? Putting the finishing touches on Ru's soccer league, though those cheeky Ruvians play the game a little bit differently then most...

My thought was that hockey could do a good job simulating the higher scoring that would likely be produced from having only 10 players on the field. But if folks have some better ideas I'd love to hear em.

Just wondering, how do RP bonuses work? I get that they add on to your teams rank coefficient or whatnot and boost your chances of winning, but how much are they worth numerically? Say, taking from the rankings in the NSWC Singups signature Schottia have about 52 rank points, how much is the RP bonus worth relative to the rankings? Also, how do you add rp bonuses in xkorinate? Is it on the front page or does it get factored in via rank? Also, are there other programs to generate results in? What did people do before xkorinate?

RP bonus is added onto your rank directly - each host sets a maximum bonus that can be gained each Matchday, which varies based on the length of the competition, and the maximum rank points available (of the top ranked team + each day's potential bonus).

Hosts judge - which is why we as users select them for trustworthiness - the RPs on a number of factors, which may or may not include amount of enjoyment the host had reading it, length, quality of spelling and grammar, use of available information from other team's RPs, story quality, enjoyment through accuracy, comedy, drama or footballing skill on display, visual layout skills, best audio RP impersonation of Ethel Merman, least uses of the word 'sprocket' in a Roster and most use of images with the correct 'mystery dimensions' - the latter three being particularly controversial ;)

The score of that RP is added to a nation's rank and you add it in directly by updating the ranks input into xkoranate each Matchday based on the RPs written.

Before xkoranate (and currently, sometimes) we often used a similar program called NS Footy Sim or Leagion, and otherwise before that we built scorinators in spreadsheets, and before that, fifteen or so years ago, rolled dice with modifiers.

EDIT: Rejis' scorinator was called Leagion, because of the Legions of Leagues you could scorinate with it. Thanks EFL.

I'd agree that Ice Hockey, with style mods above +3, would do a good job. Baseball might also be a formula you could use, and has been used to scorinate beach soccer in the past.

They're not as powerful as the custom-built programs, when it comes to auto-generating tables, scorinating multiple matches at once, etc.

Xkoranate can generate as many results over as many matchdays as you like at once, over a huge number of different sports, while excel sheets will generally at best generate one match, or a single group's matches at once.

Just make sure you use the xkoranate formula for baseball if you do, or disable the linescores if you use NSFS. Since it's meant to be simulating a soccer score, a 9-inning linescore display wouldn't make sense.

OK, that makes sense, have had a play around with it and can see that it's far more user friendly than an excel spreadsheet would be!

One last question, typically how long does a user have to be around before it's appropriate for them to host something?
