We already have U21, U18, and U15 tournaments for soccer/football, plus a bunch of senior team tournaments. We don't really need yet another youth tournament.

How about hockey

NK, how about taking a break from endless thread creation, which is becoming a lot like spamming, and maybe participate properly in some RP? Most people won't sign up for things that are going to be run by you at this time, when they look at how little effort you put in to RP or competitions. You are part of a small clique that seem to have failed to understand how NS Sport threads operate and frankly the tournaments that have been run by that group are lowering the standard of NS Sports by quite a margin. No-one would mind you putting one-line RPs in, say, the World Cup thread if you must, even though most make far more effort, but filling up the page with tournaments that set a really poor standard for incomers is only going to lower the general tone of the place. Please, take part, make an effort, and stop starting new spammy tournaments that you don't even want to host until you can really contribute to the quality and enjoyment of the NS Sport community. I don't mean to be harsh, but really, can't you see how little effort you put in compared to most?

I am a newbie to the whole 'NS Sports' thing.

What would be a good first sport for my nation to take part in in these RPs?

Honestly, I think whichever sport is your favourite.
If that's not readily visible, or you have no preference, the World Cup (soccer) is the biggest event around these here parts.

Howdy, Volk!

Like Osarius has said, the World Cup is the largest and oldest competition in NS Sports. If you are looking to start joining and competing in tournaments, the latest World Bowl signups are open, if you're into American Football. Many other events, such as the Winter Olympics and World Baseball Classic, will also be opening up signups in the future, so keep your eyes peeled. ;)

Hey is there any skiing interest still in NS Sports? Either Downhill or XC? I know there was a world cup a couple of years ago, is that still a thing?

As a winter sports nut, I’d definitely be interested and with Pyeongchang and our own NS Olympiad just around the corner, I’m sure I’m not alone. Some sliding (skeleton/bobsled etc) would be pretty cool as well.

You could also try looking for actual football/soccer templates on Google or use Smart Shirt Designer, which I believe you can also find on a Google search.

Thanks a ton! I found what you talked about, and it looked fantastic; unfortunately, it came as an .exe file, and my Mac seems incapable of opening it for that reason. Does anyone have any advice for me for opening this (or a similar [free]) file on a Mac? I know there are perfectly good kitmakers here, but I'd like to have a lot of kits (e.g., for the entire first tier of a domestic league), and I don't want to impose such a massive order upon someone else working for free. If not, though, that's fine; I'll just go without, or ask one of the kitmakers for a (dramatically reduced-size) order.

CrossOver or Wineskin are your best bets to run Windows executables on a Mac, but don't get your hopes up that everything will run as it should.

You can find User-Friendly Hockey Uniform Templates for softwares as basic as MS PAINT in this link. But I think you'll need to delete some RL logos.

This leads to a personal question from me. "Is there any ban on using RL companies and their logos in our RPs? Something like Adidas in our jerseys and/or Toyota in our cars?

There's no such ban on RL logos, jerseys or players, not everyone has the tools or the skills to edit photos, create logos and mess around with them.

I like to edit RL stuff and make it Starblaydi, because that helps me build a better world to RP in with my own companies, but by no means is that required.

I'd recommend having a go, seeing what you can manage and if it doesn't work out then use an RL one, ideally with a different name.

If I wanted to make a football tournament, are there any requirements before doing so?

It depends on what you're proposing.

Anyone can make their own domestic tournament using teams/clubs based in their own nation or others they control.

If your region wants to run a regional tournament and doesn't have one, go for it. Be sure the host has a working scorinator and knows how to use it properly. If it's held here, be sure to put something like "(Region) Only" in the title.

If you're wanting to create a new international RP tournament where anyone and everyone can sign up, bear in mind that for just about every sport you're competiting with existing tournaments. Should one insist, at bare minimum, IMHO you should have experience using a scorinator, experience using it for domestic league(s), and several RL months' experience participating in the community.

There are no requirements whatsoever to start a tournament. Anybody can put up a sign up thread (as long as they don't use the name of an existing event).

In terms of actually getting people to sign up, you generally need to have a record of actively RPing in other tournaments so they have confidence in your ability to host it. I think you'd be fine just setting up a signup thread.

There's nothing to stop you doing so, as 95X says above with domestic competitions, or even regional ones if you can get the rest of your region to join in.

In this forum, we generally like our International football tournaments to be hosted by nations that have experience of other tournaments, as that means they've demonstrated they can judge RPs and post fair scores on time, using a scorinator (either one of the standard ones, or one of their own).

Posting your own domestic club league(s) is a good way of dipping your toe into the water, as it means you can control all the variables. For international tournaments, best to start small and simple, and work it up from there. Most people here will be able to help, or give advice one way or another.

That depends on which sport you're talking about. If you mean the football/soccer World Cup, this was answered in the last couple of days here.

Essentially only roleplays about sports that would break the site's TOS would be inherently banned. If it's a sport, real or invented you can probably get away with representing it in NS.

Whether there's a fair or standard method for generating results or not, that's another matter.

So hypothetically, would something like, say, gladiatorial competitions be banned? My guess is yes

While I don't think it's been done any time in recent history, there's certainly no rule against something like a Gladatorial competition. There's a function for fighting in xkoranate (like Judo) which could work to scorinate results. It's definitely allowed, and would probably be cool to see if pulled off well.

So I’ve been wanting to host a cycling stage race my whole time on NS, however I don’t know of any conciveable way of scorinating such an event. Does anyone know of any non-xkoranate scorinators that would work, or should I look into somehow creating my own?
