There's also the possibility of including the =RAND() function. I do this for my university league to replicate the turnover of students being more dramatic than the turnover of players in leagues, and I just add it to the university's coefficient after I've calculated it form the last three seasons. Which works for the size of the coefficients in this particular league, but if you wanted randomness to have a bigger effect on the ranks you actually input into the spreadsheet then you can multiply or divide the random number (which is always between 0 and 1, for those unaware of the function) before adding it to the coefficient as appropriate.

Like Os says, just try things til it works.

Ok I seem to have come up with a solution that never should have existed in the first place. Unlike the rest of you, I don't use the same rating scale or even use xkoronate. I rate my teams between 300-1230 for the top division and 300-999 for every division below it on NSFS. Using my domestic coefficient ratings, I rank each team within it's division from best to worst (after I've moved all the teams around for Promotion and Relegation) and then assign a rating between the aforementioned values. This allows for a certain random element, as the worst team isn't guaranteed to get a low rating as the random number generator could in theory spit out the same number for every team.

This also means the best team in the second division will have a skill level in the nine-hundreds, whilst the worst team in the division above will have a skill in the three-hundreds. This skill is known as the "Domestic Division" skill. The rating scale has been designed to produce realistic results in my perception based on real life standings and points/games for each position on the standings.

Each team is also given a "Domestic Cup" skill. This skill level is used for any friendly matches and cup competitions so as to allow realistic thrashings and upsets.

For SUFA Champions League and other cross-nation play. Teams use their domestic coefficient ratings combined with the nations association coefficient. The teams are then ranked and given a rating of between 500-999. A team such as FC Sorgenfrei (Domestic: 29.263, Association: 12.875) would have a SUFA Coefficient of 42.138 where as Knitsley City (in the stronger division) would have a SUFA Coefficient of 43.015 which would mean the Sorgenfrei would still be one of the best teams but wouldn't be the best simply by virtue of having the best domestic coefficient.

This also allows for leagues to improve and fall away over time, especially when Le Grout enters play for the first time later this year.

Thank you to all who put the time into helping me and Barunia, your spreadsheet gave me the solution to my problem, although I probably won't need it now but thank you.

How to post league rankings in that frame?
Based on Russia - 240 million people - Superpower (do not anger, we have nukes and 5 million army!) - Post-communist, socially liberal gov
Pro: Pragmatic Socialism, Social Liberalism, Leftist Nationalism, Secularism, Women rights, Progressivism, Russia (not always, but sorry - Crimea is Russian), Kemalist Turkey (Glory to Ataturk!), Israel (it's always better than another Islamist dictatorship!)
Neutral: USA, UK (I'm hardline republican but not in the UK case - keep the Monarchy!), EU, China
Anti: Christian Conservatism, Islamism, Erdogan, Clericalism, Saudi Arabia, Current Polish Gov
Male - 22 - straight - Polish - disabled - Russophile - body-positive fat admirer
I don't use NS stats

Pre tags.
[.pre] at the start of the table, and [./pre] after them. But, without the full stops.

For other "How did they format that?" questions, just quote the post you see the formatting in and you'll see the tags and stuff all laid out in front of you.

You can take a look at this thread which is the now defunct ANSF, ran by Adun when he was active. The thread was considered the most successful thread on MMA RP in NS Sports. You can take some reference from there and run an interest thread like what Liventia has said. Good luck!

I would!!!!!_

Yeah, though they could have called it the "TWI Olympics" or "TWI Games" or something less confusing. As it is, its too close to the name of the NS Olympics for my liking, but its better than it originally was. Whenever we have a host for the next Summer Olympics (the established version that's been around for a decade or so), the signup thread for it will probably stay on the first page for a while. Its traditionally the second most popular event around here, after the World Cup.

Not for dedicated women's football, but all-female and mixed teams compete in the World Cup (or World Bowl, if that's the football you're referring to.)

It is not recommended for a nation with minimal NS Sports experience to "start up" tournaments unilaterally. You will have trouble getting substantive numbers of people to sign up and (worse) you would see next to no RPing. The community at large would not view the tournament(s) as terribly legitimate because you have not worked your way up through established channels like the World Cup cycle (yet).

Additionally, as Greg has already told you, there's no need for women's football events, as the World Cup is already open to both sexes.
But he was wrong. It was he who was the traitor, he the dictator, he the true tyrant. I returned to above the waves and presented the location of the merpeople's treasure to the dictator of Stvoto Latoli, who greedily took the coordinates without thanking me. As I leapt atop my broom, I could already hear the wailing of the merpeople from the depths; their last shred of dignity, the last remnant of their kingdom, their last symbol of hope; raped by the tyrannical humans.

Indeed. There's also no "men's football" per se as the World Cup is open to both sexes. Not to mention robots, and aliens with three different sexes, none of which correspond to male or female, and teams full of Santa Clice (plural of Santa Claus, apparently) who come from a nation where everyone is Santa Claus and thus male, talking ponies, coconuts, grey blobs, and a lot of other weird things. This is NS. Get used to it.

Edit: The Olympics do have separate men's and women's football tournaments (assuming you mean soccer - American football isn't an Olympic sport) and those are once a year. Signups will open once someone wins the host rights, which can't happen until someone bids. Don't bid yourself. That requires more experience than literally any other tournament on this forum, including the World Cup. I've been active here over two years and hosted top-level tournaments in two sports plus many minor ones, and I'm not nearly qualified enough. Not to mention the workload is insane and in my mind you'd have to be insane yourself to take it all on, at least for the Summer Games. (The Winter Games are much more manageable.) Which is probably why nobody's bid yet.

If it's a domestic league, that's fine. It should go in the Domestic Newswires thread or your own newswire thread. There's also the UICA competitions, which are open to club teams analagous to the UEFA Champions League and Europa League (plus a competition for Second Division teams that has no RL analogue.) Those are open for mixed, all-male, and all-female teams, but your league is welcome to enter provided you follow the entry rules.

It seems I'm screwed, in those competitions you can enter one club and our football league system isn't unisex, so there's no way of determining a national 'champion'.

Yes. Any domestic champion can enter UICA (though there is, I believe, a limit of 2 nations per OOC user and one of them must be declared a "puppet" of the other).

As a member who frequents other forums much more frequently than NS sports, I may be speaking from a minority opinion. Still, I would encourage participation at the level one is comfortable with. Perhaps it doesn't need to be a World Cup or World Bowl type of event. Perhaps it is warranted to have a smaller women's league.

Personally, if we are talking American Football, I think there is potential to have a niche sport league that addresses some interesting storylines or opportunity for commentary. As an American football fan, I happen to love the LFL (Legends Football League, formerly known as the Lingerie Football League). Sure, it has some wonderful eye candy, but more than that, it is football at far less than the professional level, which makes it far more personally exciting to watch because it is far less predictable what the real life storyline will be. I happen to think an IC solely women's american football league might be kind of fun, and expose a number of storylines that simply go unwritten in the (mostly) male dominated sports on this forum. I would certainly be interested to know what the interest level might be for such a league, or a similar league on other sports.
