Hey! If by "sport thing," you mean scorinator - Xkoranate does have an Auto Racing option, with Qualifying and Race options.

Hi. Welcome to NS Sports. This should have been asked in the OOC Questions thread, not in its own post. However, until the mods get around to merging the threads, which I will request after I respond here, I will answer your question.

To sign up for an event, simply state your desire to sign up in a signup thread. A few events are only open to members of certain regions, but to my knowledge none of them have signups right now. The International Baseball Slam has signups open right now, as does the (soccer) World Cup. In both cases, please read the first post in the thread before posting your signup as there are important details you need to know.

Once again, welcome, and if you have any other questions, feel free to use the link above.

I also linked directly to the signup threads for the IBS and World Cup. To sign up, just reply. Both require some additional info - in the case of the World Cup, you must state whether you are in for the Baptism of Fire, a newcomer tournament (it's highly recommended) and in the case of the IBS, you need to provide a nickname and a trigramme (three letter code.) The specific information required, if any, will always be in the first post of the thread, so read that before you sign up.

Just scan the first few pages of the forum to see if there's something active you'd like to sign up for. I would recommend reading not only the first post (which usually explains the event, its format, and the number of participants already signed up) but also the last page, to make sure sign-ups aren't closed. As with everything on NS, don't gravedig; some sign-up threads from inexperienced users don't actually result in an event taking place.

Some that like doing sports RPs also wind up joining Sports RP regions like Atlantian Oceania, but that's completely optional. :)

Certainly. In fact, NS Sport has developed its own football code. Nothing wrong with inventing a new sport.

You're best off testing the waters with an interest thread rather than asking in a thread meant for general help.

You can take a look at this thread which is the now defunct ANSF, ran by Adun when he was active. The thread was considered the most successful thread on MMA RP in NS Sports. You can take some reference from there and run an interest thread like what Liventia has said. Good luck!

I may do an interest thread. But this would be more unconventional then other RPs because I don't want to use a scorinator for MMA, the results would be predetermined.

If the results are to be pre-determined, why not do pro wrestling instead of MMA since pro wrestling results are actually pre-determined?

Just a quick question regarding Newswires. I'm looking at starting a newswire for my two puppet nations and my girlfriends nation. We will be posting results every day, is that going to be an issue constantly bumping the thread? We also assume the nations exist in "the real world" using an alternate history. Is that an issue that we may mention real world events and historical facts?

Probably not, if you make your own thread. It would get irritating if you put all of that in the Domestic Newswires thread, though.

There's no problem with that assuming you don't assume other nations are using that same timeline. Practically no established nations mention the OTL world, but on an individual level, there's no problem with that.

The one caveat I'd say is that a few more recent nations have mentioned Real Madrid or Manchester City or whatever as powerhouses of international domestic football - and that does clash with the setting, given the context. But at the end of the day? Shape it however you want. If you don't drag others into it, nobody will complain.

So like the Koana Islands was last month, I'm wondering whether I should start my own newswire thread or just post (since this would be football) in the domestic football newswire thread. I get that the more likely I post results, the more likely I should start my own thread, but I had a couple questions about some other pros and cons. Which is more likely to get read--someone's personal newswire, or a post in a well-established thread for the community that might get swamped in other posts very shortly? Is it mostly nations already well-established in the community that have their own threads? So would one start in the domestic football newswire thread and only start their own when they feel experienced enough?

You can do both. By football, do you mean what Americans call football or what everyone else does? The thread for soccer football is much better read than the one for gridiron. Still, it depends on what you're doing. I scorinate my domestic league over the course of several posts, one for every five matchdays the last time I did it, so I'll make those all in my domestic wire, then post the final standings with links to all the other posts in the domestic football newswire thread.

Edit: For example, see this post in the domestic newswire thread, as well as all the linked posts in my own newswire thread. You shouldn't make 9 posts (or however many I made, I wasn't counting) in the main newswire thread within a few days of each other, so if that's what you had in mind, link to them all in one post along with the final standings, and results of any other competitions like Cups. But if you want to sign up for international club competitions like UICA (more detail is available in the original post of that thread) you're going to have to post the final standings to your league in that thread, then follow the instructions to sign up. There are also things like the Cygnus Cup, for winners of your domestic cup, as well as regional cups if you're in one of the three major sporting regions - a few other regions might have them too, but not many of them. Those have their own instructions to sign up, but all signups go in the same place, and should be made in the same post. Just follow the instructions - it's all there in the OP.

No. Emphatically, no. You are 100% free to start a personal newswire whenever you like - no seniority is required. In fact, I personally recommend it strongly over simply posting directly to the IDSN thread. You have more freedom to post as frequently or infrequently as you like, and other players will then have the opportunity to bookmark you and follow your league directly if they like what you're doing. You'll have a better chance to work on a personal roleplay style, as well, something which will serve you very well as you participate in other parts of NS Sports.

I literally can't, off the top of my head, think of a single substantive reason to hesitate starting your own newswire. Go right ahead.

But he was wrong. It was he who was the traitor, he the dictator, he the true tyrant. I returned to above the waves and presented the location of the merpeople's treasure to the dictator of Stvoto Latoli, who greedily took the coordinates without thanking me. As I leapt atop my broom, I could already hear the wailing of the merpeople from the depths; their last shred of dignity, the last remnant of their kingdom, their last symbol of hope; raped by the tyrannical humans.

That is mostly correct, but as I mentioned above, there are some benefits to posting in the international wire as well, such as the ability to participate in UICA competitions. Basically, do what I do and RP your league in more detail in your own thread, then post the links and final standings in the international thread along with your signup for UICA and any other competitions you might be interested in. Just remember to include the links so you can get the appropriate RP Bonus. That being said, if you plan on making multiple posts for your league each season, you should not make them all in the international thread. Make one there with the final standings and any other results you might want, like cup results, and make the rest in your domestic thread, then link to those in the international thread.
