That sounds good, but there are also other varieties of hockey such as track hockey and roller hockey.

And frankly, those are so niche that you probably won't get much traction with tournaments.

As someone else who's held a few Field Hockey events, I'd definitely be up for another World Cup.

Are arena/coliseum gladiatorial-type tournaments allowed here or should those be directed elsewhere?

Yes, at least in theory. NS Sports is generally the place for sports or sports-like competitions involving the NS nations or individuals from the NS nations (no RL nations are allowed) which participants control. These competitions are almost always run using what we call a "scorinator," which is basically a fancy RNG program. For more on what is involved in hosting an NS Sports tournament, I'd recommend reading the Guide to Sports Roleplaying, specifically the "How Do I Host a Tournament?" section. So, should your proposed tournament involve NS nations and use a scorinator to generate results, it would technically fit on NS Sports. However, I do feel I should warn you ahead of time that combat tournaments don't typically gain much traction (if any) in this forum, even if they do adhere to those requirements (which they rarely do). If you're looking to have a more character-centric RP or one which features RL nations/people, you may want to ask around in the Portal to the Multiverse forum to see if that would be a better fit, although I'm much less familiar with their norms/practices/rules for RPs than ours.

tl;dr - Yes, they're allowed here, but they don't usually do well and might fit better elsewhere.

Thank you! I've hosted them before on other accounts but they've always run into the issue mainly of who wins and how that's decided without either someone getting heated or some form of godmodding inevitably ensuing because someone's character is hunting everyone down too fast and avoiding getting killed too well, so hearing about the scorinators I was drawn here to see if I could make it work. In all, thank you for this in-depth answer! I appreciate it!

Xkoranate does have some combat sport features that you could repurpose for gladiatorial fights -- but like Equestrian States alluded to, a lot of people in this forum prefer less violent subject matter.

Maybe you could have a P2TM RP with scorinated fights? I mean instead of having a turn-based tournament the way it is normally done in this forum, you could let people RP at their own pace more like P2TM, but then when you get to a part of the story where two characters are fighting, you could use the scorinator to settle who wins.

Actually, I think NationStates or International Incidents might fit better, considering someone else did something similar a while back.

For the NSWC is it one post allowed per MD or two?

Or rather only one post is counted no matter how many you do for scoring or is it only two posts counted?
You know you've made it on NSG when you have a whole thread created around what you said.

Do you need to do just one RP to get a bonus or do you need to do one every match day?

In most competitions the RP bonus will stick around for the entire tournament but degrade by match day. For example, a RP that gets a 1.0 bonus on 1 day may degrade to 0.5 the next day.

My understanding is that the number of physical posts you make isn't relevant. Anything you write between cutoffs will be graded as one RP for that matchday. You can receive 1 RP grade for each matchday, or a grade of 0 if you don't RP. This, in addition to your roster bonus, will be added to your rank before each scorination.

I believe he said that if you post multiple RPs they will get combined into 1 RP grade for that day. So basically if you write 3 RPs and they are all graded as 2s then you would get a RP grade of 6 for that day, but all the RPs would be treated as 1 single RP. But Quality is by far the most important factor in any RP grade.

How is multiplying the grades together treating the three posts as a single RP? If all three posts were graded as 2s (which is not how that would work in any case) you would receive an RP grade of 2 for that day. No matter how many IC posts you make in a role play thread between cutoffs, you will receive one grade which will take into account all of the posts as if they had all been part of a singular post.

It should also be noted that after a certain point, posting multiple times in an RP thread between cutoffs would probably just be considered spam. I really don't see any reason why, at most, you would need to post more than twice between cutoffs in an RP thread.

To be clear: no host in their right mind would consider multiple posts as anything other than a single RP for the matchday, to be judged as a whole based on its quality as if it were a single post. It's basically the only reasonable approach if you think about it. Why would we reward spamming the RP thread?
