NSCF 1 Signup/Roster Thread (Closed)

Postby Churchma » Tue Jul 06, 2010 5:54 pm

Nation States College Football 1
I’m starting a 10-team American Collegiate football league and as soon as we find ten teams, we’ll get this thing going. (No puppets please)

NSCF 1 Everything Thread

League information:
-Games will be ONCE a week (similar to a real football season, as this will also give everyone a chance to RP). This will give all of us more than enough time to RP.
-Everyone MUST RP. I’m making this a rule that way this league doesn’t come down to only two people RPing in the middle of the season. Since games are once a week, I believe that everyone would have more than enough time to write up a game report, or game preview. Let me know if that’s asking too much of you.
-There will be NINE regular season games, and the top four teams will advance to a four-team playoff (championship and third place game).

Signups must include:
-Team Name (Ex. Colden University)
-Nickname (Ex. Bearcats)
-Location (Ex. Lexington (city), Moorhatch (state), Churchma (country))
-Roster (maximum of 55 players, it’s acceptable to post this later, but at some point before the first game, your roster must be up; also each player MUST have their graduating class by their name, Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, or Senior)
-Coaches
-Home Stadium and capacity (don’t need to post a picture, but you can if you’d like)
-Style of play: -5 (very defensive minded team), -4, -3, -2, -1, 0 (neutral), 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 (very offensive minded team)

Scorination
I will be using NSFS3. Teams will be able to pick their style of play, and there will be a RP bonus as well. To get the RP bonus you must RP every week. Past RP's will not effect upcoming games. For example, writing a game report about game one will not have any effect in week three, four, five, etc.

When the season is over we’ll have All-Conference teams (assuming each of you keep some sort of stats throughout the season). If this goes smoothly we’ll bring everyone back for a second season, and increase the number of teams to 12 or 14.

I've already been receiving TG's to sign up teams, so i'm going to go ahead and open up the thread to sign ups. Whittoria and Auremena: I've gone ahead and saved you a spot in the league- you'll need to let me know if you don't want to participate anymore.

Recruiting
Because this is a college football league, we're going to add recruting to this. Everyone that follows college football in real life knows how important recruiting is to a program. This is how it will work:

Each nation that enters the league will send three recruits from their country to the "NSCF Blue Chip Top 30". (There will be a total of 30 top recruits this way). Throughout the season each of the ten teams in the league will have to try and persuade the players from your country to come play football at their school. Obviously each incoming class has more than three guys, but these three guys from each country are supposed to be the best three players from that particular country.

For example, during a typical week you might write a "game report" and then a "recruiting update", in this "recruiting update" you could talk about which of the "NSCF Blue Chip Top 30" recruits came and visited campus. You can talk about how they went and partied on Friday night before the game, or how they got an academic tour Saturday morning before the game, or how they had individual meetings with the head coach, or if they plan on coming back for another visit.

It will also be important for each country to set up these "visits" to other schools. It's obviously impossible for one recruit to be at three different campuses in one weekend. So you'll have to update everyone on where they plan to visit.

There will be no limit as to who you can recruit or how many players you can recruit. For example, you can recruit all three players that come out of Cosumar, and none that come out of Churchma. It doesn't matter which ones you recruit, or how many that you try and recruit.

At the end of the season (after the championship) there will be a National Signing Day and each country will decide where their three players are going to college the next year (by sending me a TG, and then I'll update the list on where every recruit will be playing). They can go to the in-country team, they might go to a rival, but who knows? It's up to you to decide where your top guys go. Let me know what you guys think about this idea! I think this might make being a part of the NSCF a little bit more interesting!

(Recruiting example on top of page two of this thread!)

Sounds good, but there's one thing I'd do differently if I were you. Using EA Sports as a scorinator isn't exactly the best idea in the world. Try downloading NSFS 3.0, it's a lot easier to scorinate games than its predecessor.
I did the football and racing thing. I also was good at writing dumb stuff.

WAC is still going. You should join.

I am interested also but agree with whittoria about scorination. With your method whoever got the better team first would usually win and how wod you do rp bonus?

To the request of Whittoria and Cosumar, I have downloaded NSFS3.

I've been trying it out and I've got the hang of it now. I definitely like this scorinator! I've made the needed changes to the original post. Any other suggestions guys?

I am indeed tempted to sign-up (as the sole entrant of one user who's been on here for a year and half now), but I do have a few questions:

a) How do you intend on enforcing the "everyone must RP" line? For example, if someone didn't RP, what will be their punishment? And if someone (for example) is going on holiday and can't RP for a couple of weeks, will the same punishment apply or can they request exemption from this?
b) Why not extend the competition to twelve entrants and have separate conferences (i.e. Conferences Alpha, Bravo, Delta or something similar) - this could give a lot more RP potential.
c) If a nation doesn't use sophomore, freshman, etc., are they able to say (for example) 1st year, 2nd year, last year?

c) If a nation doesn't use sophomore, freshman, etc., are they able to say (for example) 1st year, 2nd year, last year?

a) This is more of an honor thing than anything else. I can't sit here and say that you will automatically lose if you don't RP, but that's why I'm leaving an entire week in between games. And say there is a holiday, or you do go out of town for a vacation, how long will that last? Two week vacation at most? Haha I don't know a ton of people that leave home for weeks on end. But for some reason if you're going to be gone for a couple months, then I don't know why you would join a league anyways. I want everyone to RP that way people actually get interested in the league and don't disappear after they have signed up. That's another reason I want to keep numbers low for the inaugural season of the NSCF.

b) If we get enough interest to raise the number of teams in the league from 10 to 12, then we could do that. But my plan for the first season is to have 10 teams (all in one division) and then the four team playoff. My plan for the second season was to raise the number of teams to 12 or 14 (have two divisions) and then have the two division winners play for the conference championship. If all of this is successful then we'll continue on to season three, four, five, etc. and we'll keep expanding the leauge by adding new conferences.

c) I guess 1st year, 2nd year, 3rd year, and 4th year is acceptable if you don't know any better, but we're modeling this after an American College Football league. They always use Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, or Senior when talking about their players. It's important to know everyone's grade because when the season is over, say your backup quarterback wants to transfer to another team in the league, they must know what grade they are in.

Alright everyone, right now we're waiting to see what Whittoria and Osarius have planned for the league. Once they've updated me on what they're going to do, we'll get this going.

Any other signups from this point on will be considered alternates if Whittoria or Osarius decide against joining the NSCF.

I want to bring this back to the front page and see if there are any possible alternates at this point. Also, if anyone that might be interested has any questions, don't be afraid to TG me.

Thus far, I've had a difficult time getting a hold of Whittoria, so I'm not sure what his plan is on joining the league. So anyone that wants to sign up as an alternate can do so at this point.

To everyone that has already signed up- I'm going to have an example of a Recruiting Update post on here soon. That way everyone will be clear on what that will look like.

Laugaras,

I'm going to give you until Wednesday at 10:00 ET to TG and let me know if you're stil interested in joining this league. I've went through everyone that has signed up, and everyone but you has been online within the last two days. The reason I'm doing this through the thread and not a TG is because I'm not sure if you're a puppet nation of someone else, and if you are, now they can see that.

But if you're not interested Newivory is going to take your spot in the league. Just let me know what you want to do!

To everyone else,

Whittoria also has not been online in the past few days, and I've given him until Tuesday night to let me know if he plans on joining the league still. So if you would like to signup you may do so. At this point, it looks more than likely that Whittoria will not be sending a team to the NSCF. Any questions about the league, TG me.

EDIT: Also, if you've signed up, go ahead and start posting rosters in your original signup post. This will make it much easier for everyone to find info about your roster, coaches, stadium, etc.

Colden University Bearcats roster

Quarterback
#7- Stuart Gildon (6’3, 217, JR)- Gildon is considered one of the top quarterbacks that has ever come through the Republic of Churchma. He has all of the tools to be a successful quarterback in the L8 Conference, and possibly could be 1st team All-ICAA by the end of the season. If you aren’t familiar with the name Gildon, you’ll recognize it soon when he scorches your defense.
#12- Terrance Walkes (6’4, 210, SO)-Walkes isn’t quite the polished passer that Gildon is, but he is easily the best athlete of the group. Walkes has been clocked at 4.53 in the forty yard dash, and possess the skills to be WR if injuries occurred.
#2- Otis Hawkins (6’1, 205, SR)- The last name Hawkins might look familiar to you. That’s because Otis is the son of head coach Tim Hawkins. This is a smart kid that knows the offense but doesn’t quite possess the physical tools that some of the other quarterbacks on the team have.

Runningback
#32- Marcus Eversole (5’10, 222, SR)- Eversole is a big, bruising back. He’s the kind of back that will run over the biggest and baddest dude on your defense. Eversole doesn’t shy away from contact, quite the opposite actually- he looks to knock heads off when he has the ball.
#1- Jack Carrico (5’11, 195, RS FR)- This kid can flat out fly. Carrico is responsible for kick returns and punt returns. He’s so fast that you just can’t keep him off of the field. Instinctive runner that is the future of the Bearcats running game.
#27- Doug Smallwood (6’0, 206, JR)- Smallwood continues to fight for playing time, he brings a balanced attack between a speed back and power back.

Wide Receiver
#88- Travis Garcia (6’2, 190, SO)- Garcia isn’t going to blaze past anyone, but he runs the sharpest routes on the team. Also known for his remarkable hands, he rarely drops a pass that is catchable.
#3- Greg Rhett (6’1, 197, SO)- Very versatile wide receiver that will potentially work his way into the starting lineup at some point later in his career.

Wide Receiver
#8- Cedric Saunders (5’10, 180, SR)- Similar in build to RB Carrico, except Saunders possess an unreal ability to catch the ball. Has the speed to get past corners, isn’t very physical, but if he gets even with anyone in the secondary, you can say good bye and put 6 up on the scoreboard.
#87- Spencer Phalen (6’0, 204, RS FR)- Phalen appears to be the successor for Saunders next year. Once Phalen has grasped the offense, it seems that he will be a force to be reckoned with.

Wide Receiver
#83- Greg Wenning (6’4, 213, RS FR)- The coaches rave about Wenning’s frame and potential to be the next great WR in the ICAA. Although he is young, he already has the mental part of the game down, and because he is such a matchup problem for other teams, you can expect a lot of jump balls against smaller corners to go his way.
#4- Myron Masek (5’11, 191, SR)- Masek probably would be starting had he not ran into some of the off the field problems that he experienced last summer. Once he gets his head on straight, other coaches should fear what this guy might do to their defenses.

Tight End
#84- Devin Gilchrist (6’5, 251, SR)- Gilchrist is a physical TE that catches the ball well and rarely goes down after the first hit. Not the fastest guy on the field, but he is a very sound player.
#46- Colin Woolford (6’3, 240, JR)- Woolford is a very similar player to Gilchrist, and therefore you can expect a tight competition for this spot all season long.
#81- Jermaine Wilson (6’3, 234, SO)- Wilson isn’t quite ready physically to handle the beating that the L8 will put on him. Another year to learn will do him well.

Left Tackle
#71- Will Rollins (6’6, 301, SR)- Rollins is the staple of the offense line. When you think of a leader Rollins is the first guy you should think of. He’s a workout warrior and perfectionist. He would make a great coach someday when he’s done on the field.
#78-Trent Monford (6’5, 289, RS FR)- Monford is being groomed to be the next great left tackle at CU. Another year under Rollins and he should be ready to go.

Left Guard
#68- Logan Hornick (6’3, 278, JR)- Hornick is known for his great ability to run block. He gets to the next level so quick, and that’s what separates him from other linemen.
#79- Brett McCalister (6’2, 287, SO)- McCalister is clearing up some grade issues, and once he gets that down then you can expect him to compete for the starting left guard spot.

Center
#73- Roy Bell (6’2, 284, SR)- Bell is the smartest guy on the line, and that’s why he’s at center. Rarely makes a mistake when calling audibles, possesses a cumulative 3.97 GPA.
#67- Glenn Bedford (6’1, 272, JR)- Bedford was a walk-on that has earned his way into the two deep. If an injury occurred with Bell, Bedford would be able to step in and do an efficient job.

Right Guard
#77- Eugene Hester (6’3, 330, JR)- When you look at his weight you might understand why Hester goes by the name “Big E”. Hester is a monster of a human being, and does not shy away from contact.
#70- Phil Patrick (6’1, 285, SO)- Patrick is the hometown hero for CU. He played his high school ball in Garretstrong, Omon (where CU is located) and led the team to two straight state championships.

Right Tackle
#72- Marvin Hampton (6’7, 305, SO)- Hampton is the youngest guy on the line, but is ready to start already. Was the scout team player of the year as a true freshman.
#74- Tim Heath (6’5, 299, SO)- Heath is a physical and hard working young player, so if Hampton makes any mistakes, he knows Heath will be right behind him and ready to play.

Left Defensive End
#94- Shawn Quan (6’3, 255, RS FR)- Youngest player in the starting rotation, but is aggressive enough that even if he has a mistake the coaches can live with it. He’s the guy that goes 100 percent every single snap.
#96- Terry Thornton (6’4, 266, JR)- Thornton is just a step slow, and if he loses some of that weight before the season starts, then you can expect some big competition between him and Quan.

Defensive Tackle
#91- Tyler Phillips (6’2, 290, SR)- Phillips is a big body that makes it hard for opposing offenses to run the ball. Not the quickest guy in the world, but if he gets a finger on you, you’re going down.
#92- Randy Owens (6’1, 297, JR)- Owens is another big boy that provides depth to the Bearcats line. If he develops quicker feet to get in the gap to stop the run then he may see the field.

Defensive Tackle
#99- Joe Harper (6’3, 308, JR)- Harper is the hardest hitter on the team. He has given out numerous concussions to opposing centers. Make sure your guys prepare for him, because Harper will flat out put them on their butt if they’re hesitant.
#95- Josh Baldridge (6’1, 289, SO)- Baldridge is a play maker as well, unfortunately for him, he has one of the toughest players in the country ahead of him.

Right Defensive End
#93- Mike Stone (6’3, 240, JR)- Stone is the lightest guy on the defensive line, and is also the quickest. His first step off the edge is tough for any left tackle to stop, look for this guy to come up with big sacks every week.
#90- Elroy Lot (6’3, 249, RS FR)- Lot isn’t mentally ready to play yet, but by the time Stone leaves, he should be ready to play. He needs another year to learn everything.

Left Outside Linebacker
#37- Sherwood Johnson (6’2, 231, JR)- Johnson is the fastest linebacker of the group, and therefore matches up well with backs out of the backfield. Doesn’t lay the biggest hit, but rarely misses a tackle.
#44- Chris Boyd (5’11, 225, SR)- Boyd is stacked and looks similar to a G.I. Joe. Because he is so bulky, he’s a step slow. If something happened to Johnson, Boyd would be able to replace him effectively.

Middle Linebacker
#15- Dennis Sawyers (6’4, 240, SR)- Sawyers is the heart of the defense. He holds records for squat, bench, and hang clean at CU. This is the guy you wouldn’t want to meet in an alley. He’s a blitzing machine and is definitely a run-stopper.
#47- Justin Graham (6’1, 237, SO)- Graham is slowly learning the defense and will be a good successor to Sawyers. Doesn’t quite have the size, but has a great work ethic.

Right Outside Linebacker
#40- Ralph Hanson (6’0, 234, JR)- A very balanced player, doesn’t make any major mistakes. Coaches rave about his consistency.
#36- Dan Winters (6’3, 248, RS FR)- Winters is already a big boy, and coaches are threatening to move him to defensive end if he doesn’t cut weight. We’ll have to wait and see what happens with this guy.

Left Cornerback
#20- Vince Bullis (5’11, 183, SO)- Bullis is your prototypical cover corner. He’s not going to bump and run your wide receivers, but he’s great at reading the quarterback’s eyes and thrives in zone defenses.
#24- Dave Nelson (6’0, 199, SR)- It seems as if Nelson would be a great corner when you look at him, but he needs to get his head in the playbook before he’s going to play significant minutes.

Right Cornberback
#22- Nick Hurdle (6’2, 200, SR)- Hurdle looks more like a safety than a corner, but he has the best lockdown ability of anyone in the secondary, so the coaches like him here.
#9- Lawrance Bade (5’10, 175, RS FR)- The Bearcats need help in the secondary for the future. Hopefully Bade is the answer. This kid needs to get in the weight room before he’s ready to see the field.

Free Safety
#33- Lance Austin (6’3, 212, SR)- Austin is a tall rangy guy that is great in coverage. He won’t knock your head off, but his height causes matchup problems for a lot of teams.
#34- Matt Martin (6’0, 196, JR)- Martin is a solid backup, but needs to play more consistent. Some playing time this year should help him develop that asset.

Strong Safety
#6- Brian Martz (6’0, 200, SR)- Martz is an absolute head hunter. He’s a loose cannon when he’s on the field. Isn’t the greatest in coverage, but is great at stopping the run.
#19- Jake Hardy (6’1, 205, SO)- If Hardy stops being tentative, then the coaches think he’ll be able to contribute greatly later in his career. He has the physical tools and speed to be 1st Team All-ICAA if he grows some confidence.

Kicker
#49- James Crowe (5’9, 180, SR)- Crowe was a phenomenal soccer player in high school, and has handled the kicking duties all four years as a Bearcat.

Punter
#48- Bill Thomas (6’3, 200, SO)- Thomas needs to work on consistency, because there are some days he’ll punt the ball 50 yards and other days he’ll only reach 35 yards.

The Bearcats feature eleven starters that are seniors (5 offense, 5 defense, 1 special teams), seven starters that are juniors (3 offense, 4 defense), four starters that are sophomores (2 offense, 1 defense, 1 special teams), and two starters that are redshirt freshmen (1 offense, 1 defense).

I find it kind of hard to believe that not one person wants this last spot! Where are all of those people that were participating in the ICAA season? If this last spot isn't filled by Friday at 7 ET, then we will move ahead with nine teams for the first season. I hope one more person shows up!

Well, well, well. It is what it is I guess! We're going to go ahead and get this started with nine teams. Once the season is over we'll think about possible conference expansion... just like the Pac-10 and Big Ten :)

Look for the NSCF 1 Everything thread coming soon!

EDIT: Everyone please post their roster ON THIS thread. Thanks guys.
