Busoga Islands and Zwangzug bid for Cup of Harmony 92
The Busoga Islander Soccer Association, and the Zwangzug Football Federation, hereby launch a united bid to host the upcoming Cup of Harmony.
Busoga National Information
The Islamic Republic of the Busoga Islands have firmly established themselves on the map in Arrosia - the country forming as an independent nation shortly after World Cup 80, as a result of what is commonly known internationally as the Banijan-Equestrian War, but within the country as the Busogan war for independence. They are located on the northwestern edge of the Shango-Fogoa Basin. It has a population of about 12 million people.
The islands have been inhabited for over 400 years, named after their founder, Ayatollah Kizil Busoga. These people have been one that have fiercely and jealously their independence. While, of course, being ruled by Quebec City, and then via Busukuma, for over two entire centuries, they have come out of the woodworks and staked a name for themselves. Politically, they historically closely ally with the Equestrian States and other nations within Canterlot's sphere of influence, and thanks to heavy foreign investment they have a rapidly growing economy. They also count Baker Park among their close allies. While they used to have an antagonistic relationship with Banija, the Belle Haven Agreement normalized relations between the two neighbors. They are economically very strong trading partners, and although there are sometimes cultural tensions, the two nations by and large get along.
In terms of football, there are 14 professional clubs on the island that all remain part of the Banijan soccer pyramid- that is joined at the top with Farfadillis. Lakiska SC is the country’s only club at the top of the pyramid, in the Shango-Fogoa Premier League. Three teams are in the Banijan Soccer League(the second tier), and 10 teams are in the Busogan National League(the third tier).
The sport competes for the status of 'most popular sport on the island', alongside cricket. Gridiron is known to be the 3rd most popular sport on the island, behind the two prior ones which are considered the most popular. Of course, popularity with the national team rises and falls with the good fortunes of how the national team plays- which means it is currently at an all-time high, as the nation just had an unbeaten run throughout World Cup Qualifying to qualify for World Cup 100.
Many across the country speak English, and it is a good language to use to get around.
Zwangzug National Info
Isolationist, anti-social social democrats. Keen on public transit, poetic constraints, and board game allusions. Ambivalent about goalkeepers. Football has a top-level professional franchise system called the 1./ (“First Division”), rather than a promotion/relegation pyramid.
Invite Criteria
We’ll keep it short and sweet- a roster, plus 3 RPs, will be our current minimum standard. Considering numbers, we reserve the right to be stricter than this.
CoH invites will be issued via TG. The only way to accept a CoH invite will be to post a roster in the CoH IC thread.
Format
All groups are single round robin. All games shall be played in the host nations. We have potential group sizes from anywhere between 24 and 64 nations.
Preferred sizes
24 teams- 6 groups of four, top two in each group plus top 4 third place teams advance to Round of 16.
28 teams- 7 groups of four, top two in each group plus top 4 third place teams advance to Round of 16.
32 teams- 8 groups of four, top two in each group advance to Round of 16.
36 teams- 6 groups of six, top two in each group plus top 4 third place teams advance to Round of 16.
40 teams- 8 groups of 5, top three in each group advance to the Round of 24.
42 teams- 7 groups of six, top three in each group plus top 3 fourth place teams advance to Round of 24.
45 teams- 9 groups of 5, top 2 in each group, plus top 6 third place teams, advance to the Round of 24.
48 teams- 8 groups of six, top 3 in each group advance to the Round of 24.
54 teams- 9 groups of six, top 2 in each group, plus top 6 third place teams, advance to the Round of 24.
60 teams- 10 groups of six. Top 3 in each group, plus top 2 fourth place teams, advance to the Round of 32.
Non-Optimal Group Sizes
25 teams- 5 groups of 5, top 3 in each group plus top 3rd place team advance to the Round of 16.
30 teams- 5 groups of six, top three in each group plus top ranked fourth place teams advance to Round of 16.
35 teams- 7 groups of 5, top 2 in each group, plus top 2 third place teams, advance to the Round of 16.
44 teams- 11 groups of 4. Top 2 in each group, plus top 2 third place teams, advance to the Round of 24.
49 teams- 7 groups of 7. Top 3 in each group, plus top 3 fourth place teams, advance to the Round of 24.
Scorination & RP Bonus
Scorination will be done with the latest presently existing version of xkoranate. We will use the NSFS formula with xkoranate (additive) style modifiers.
RP bonus, like the WC, will be scaled. The scale will go like this:
Roster (10%)
Average grade for every RP window (25%)
Most recent RP window (30%)
Highest single grade for any RP window (35%)
Tiebreakers
For tiebreakers, we will use the following
1) H-2-H Wins
2) Overall Goal Differential
3) Total Wins
4) IC coin toss (OOC RP bonus only scorination- take out rank, but include roster & RP bonus)
Host Scorination Information
#1 Host Bonus- If Zwangzug qualifies for this tournament because they don’t qualify for the World Cup, they would get a small host bonus. Zwangzug’s puppet will not be eligible for a host bonus.
#2 Any of Zwangzug’s matches, or their puppet’s matches, will be scorinated by Busoga.
