Victory in Gaelic Football World Cup!!

In the first match of the gaelic football world cup, the national team, which is really the all-stars of the domestic league, the Gaelic Football League, or the GFL, defeated Hanox, 20-17, scoring 1 goal while Hanox scored 3.

In the first half, Hanox was not getting that many points, but they were scoring goals like crazy. Their players were getting down the field, scoring goals, as they scored 2 by the half to take a 14-9 lead at halftime. But in the first half, in this 70 minute match, Silver Beach was scoring points like it was no tomorrow, especially the captain, Joe McGeady, who had scored 5 points by halftime. The biggest worry though, was that the assistant captain, John Stewart, broke his leg, and is probably out for the entire tournament.

In the second half, Silver Beach clamped down on the defensive end, allowing just one goal, and 0 normal points. They were getting crazy, as Hanox scored the goal early to take a 17-9 lead with 30 minutes left in the game. But, Silver Beach came storming back at Hanox, scoring points left and right, and the captain, the 3 time MVP of the GFL for the York Buccaneers, had scored 3 more times in the second half, and with 5 minutes left, the score was 17-17. It was nerve-wracking, seeing who was going to win, or who was going to go home. But, with 45 seconds left, Sorenson showed why he was picked as captain for the squad, and why he was a 3 time MVP at the age of 33 years old, by assisting on a brilliant goal by the rookie of the year of the GFL, Hank Shalock. This game was brilliant, and now Silver Beach is in second place in the group, though we are not sure why they are in second, since they have more points.

OOC: I beat Hanox, how the heck am I in second place? Also, this tournament has RP bonus, and that was an RP bonus deserving , correct?

Sorry about that looks like i forgot to move people, it was my mistake. Yes an RP bonus does apply and an RP like Silver Beach's pretty much guarantees you a win.

The team gathered in the locker room. The manger stood over them" Alright, don't beat yourself up over that one. It was a very good team, and it was a close match. I am going to let you guys skip practice today, but I want one tommorrow before the game. We need better team work near the goal, we gave up too many missed chances. If you don't have the shot, don't take it. On 3, Paladins. 1..2..3 PALADINS!

"WOOOHOOOO!" "YEAHHHH!" "YEEESSS!"

The shouts of Cosumar's athletes filling the small locker room. In the Gaelic Football World Cup the Dragons were expcted to struggle--as they were relatively new in the field of gaelic football. However, in their first three matches against Old Beringia, Unitopolis, and most recently Aleckstan Cosumar emerged victorious-earning a perfect 3-0 record so far and advancing to the second round.

The players huddled around Coach Dunsk in the locker room, still smiling in excitement.

Coach Dunsk looked them all in the eye and began speaking. "Guess what guys?!?! it is our first year in gaelic football, true. We were supposed to fail miserably, true. Aleckstan, Old Beringia, and Unitopolis are world class teams, true. BUT, we emerged victorious against all odds! Why? because we have heart. We KNOW that everytime we step onto the field we will give our all and that we would WIN."

An excited cheer broke out rallying around the coaches words.

"But..." the cheer stopped.

"We have only played 3 games. We have advanced to the second round, yes. But it will only get harder from here. Unitpolois advanced and we have not faced Silver Beach and Italian mafias yet. We are good, nay we are GREAT. But we mustn't lose focus. These teams know what to expect. We must continue woorking hard as if we were the underdogs still."

The athletes solemnly nodded with a look of grim determination set on their faces.

"Apart from that...you guys did great out there against Aleckstan tonight. a 16-12 victory is good but we could've done btter, especially you on the defense Jude. We'll discuss that tomorrow. Meet at gameplan room 7:00 clock tomorrow morning. Get some well-deserved rest tonight guys.

And with that the Cosumaran squad exited the facility and began thinking about the upcoming second round. Since childhood they had dreamed of playing at this stage. They HAD to win...

Taking on the host
The York Free Press

In the Gaelic Football World Cup, the Silver Beach national team got a perfect record, establishing themselves as a world power, not losing to anybody, even beating the highly-touted Italian Mafias squad. But, they are taking on the hosts at Jupiter Stadium, so expect 60,000 fans cheering for Unitopolis. But, Silver Beach has a tough squad also, plus the traveling GFL fans, 5,000 of them expected to be at this game, in the top left hand corner.

PREVIEW
Top matchup on defense
Conal Keanen(full forward) vs. Mark Stewart(full back)

This matchup will be a very interesting one. Conal Keanen is one of the more skilled players in the world cup, scoring all of the goals Unitopolis had in their 18-17 loss to Consumar, a very exciting game. Now, since Mark Stewart is the full back, he will have the task of defending this man. Mark Stewart got the top defenseman of the year award, playing for the South Tasmanian Jaguars, 2 years in a row. In the GFL hotbed of Tasmania, 5 of the 15 teams in the league are in Tasmania, and half the players on the national team were born there. So, they know what to face. But, Stewart will have his hands full, especially since his older brother broke his leg and is in the hotel room, not being able to play. But, expect Silver Beach to be strong against the hosts, use their power, and win

On Offense
Hank Shalock(right corner forward vs. Thomas Olde(left corner back)

This will be very intriguing on the wings. Hank Shalock is only 19 years old, and was the last player to avoid the newly installed education rule, where you have to had been in collge, community college, or at a university, for two years before you can enter the GFL. But, this guy is a superstar. He was third in the league in goals in 26 games, two less then everyone else, because of injury. He has amazing speed, being clocked at a 4.32 second 40 yard dash, with endurance, being a former cross country star, winning at states for Pioneer High School in the state of Jersey, having a 5:03 mile time. But, Thomas Olde is very powerful. He is 6 foot 5, 265 pounds, and being a former rugby player in high school, is very physical. But, Hank Shalock must win this matchup if Silver Beach hopes to overcome the crowd, and get to the final to face either Consumar, who also won all three of their games, or face the Italian Mafias, who Silver Beach defeated in their last game, 19-18, with Shalock scoring three fantastic goals.

GO GREEN STARS!!!!!

The Itailian team was on the field, practing and a hard one at that for their next match. They had 4 hours till game time and the coach called them in to end practice " Alright boys, do what you just did tonight and we will win. Remember, teamwork all the way and at the goal. Don't have the shot, don't take it.1, 2, 3 PALADINS!"

Gaelic Football Team Advances to Finals of GFWC!
By Kerry Montogae, Staff Writer

After running the table and going undefeated in the first two rounds of the Gaelic Football World Cup held in the beautiful Unitopolis, the Cosumar Dragons find themselves in the champiosnhip. In the first round Cosumar defeated Old Beringia, hosts Unitopolis, and then Aleckstan all by slim margins. In the second round the Cosumaran squad managed to sneak by Italian Mafias by a score of 16-14.

Tomorrow the Dragons will face their rivals from Silver Beach in front of record crowds at Jupier Stadium for a chance to win their first ever Gaelic Football WC. The host Unitopolis and Italian Mafias will face off in the third place game at Matrix City Stadium.

Like Cosumar, Silver Beach arrived in the finals by going undefeated, but against Italian Mafias, Kill and Death, and Hanox. Most experts are predicting a Silver Beach victory. With a very good goalkeeper in James Miller and standout full forward Jimmy Strong, Silver Beach seems to be almost unbeatable. But Cosumar's Coach Dunsk is not worried.

"I don't care what the so called experts say. We have defeated 3 very good teams, 4 games in a row, and defeated the hosts twice. We ave an excellent chance to win this game. As long as we keep our cool and play like we have so far I believe we will win. I like Emily Woodby at Left Half Forward she has come on very well and Rikki Varshney will not crack under the pressure at goal keeper. I also have the utmost faith in Thomas Hair's scoring ability. IT will be a tough game and we may lose. But we Dragons have confidence and determination so don't be surprised if we emerge victorious." he said.

Despite the outcome, both Cosumar and Silver Beach have proven themselves as top-tier Gaelic Football nations with a high chance of winning more titles. Both teams have a high respect for each other and have been worthy opponents.

But all of us here at West Cosumar Star are pulling for the home team and you should do the same! Go Dragons!

The whole of Unitopolis will be watching as the inaugral Gaelic Football World Cup draws to a close, with the 3rd place-play-off today and the final tomorrow. Unitopolis played well to progress through Group A, losing just once, to Silver Beach.

A tough semi-final against Cosumar followed, and Unitopolis were knocked out. Despite this, manager Josh Kirwan remains upbeat about the health of the national side; "Look, Gaelic Football is big here, probably bigger than anywhere else in the world. We've got a lot of players coming through the ranks here and if I was a normal fan I would be very optimitic for the future."

This World Cup is the last chance for some Unitopolitan legends of the game such as Karl Basville and Gary McGuire to pick up a medal, even if it is bronze. We spoke to Karl after yesterdays game and he was wary of Italiain Mafias, particularly their forwards; "Well obviously the press is building this up as a battle between me and Brett O'Reilly and Michael De Arnado, but the whole team will have to pull together to stop them from scoring."

Up front, things look a little brighter, with Conal Keanen on fire and Jon Cook wanted by several Murphy's Premiership teams, and Italiain Mafias will have a hard job stopping them from scoring. We're bringing you the game live on UTN Sports, in association with Murphy's Cider.

Forward to the Finals!!!
Tasmania Today/b]

In the Gaelic Football World Cup, Silver Beach defeated Unitopolis 20-15 by scoring 3 goals, and will face the other superpower in gaelic football, Cosumar, for the title in front of record crowds expected at Jupiter Stadium. It will be evenly split, and the stadium is expected to bring in temporary seats to seat 65,570 people, which would set a record for attendance at the Gaelic Football world cup. But, you know, it will be tough, we have to now face Cosumar, which like us, has not lost yet, and they beat us, 30-27, at York Field in front of a half-empty stadium, with only 42,838 fans showing up.

[b]Player to Watch

Hank Shalock, Right Corner Forward- This is a very strong player, who is only 19 years old! This player is a rookie in the GFL, and was the rookie of the year. He scored every single goal against Unitopolis, and he scored the last one in the match in the match against Unitopolis, which propelled Silver Beach to the final. But, this will be a very tough match. First of all, with declining revenues, players will have in the back of their minds about a proposed merger of Gaelic Football Leagues, with the promotion and relegation system.

Also, with the Cosumar national team being so strong, Silver Beach will have to use everything they have got to beat Cosumar. This game will be very tough

Silver Beach Defense vs. Cosumar Offense
This will be a good matchup. Cosumar has a strong offense, scoring lots of points, but Silver Beach's defense has been struggling the last few games, even though they are not allowing goals, only points they are allowing. We have deep respect for the Cosumar offense, ADVANTAGE COSUMAR

Silver Beach Offense vs. Cosumar Defense
This will be the advantage of Silver Beach. Hank Shalock is on fire, on great form scoring lots of goals, and so is Joe Sorenson, and Jimmy Strong. They are led by the goals they score, they should light up the night with the scores. ADVANTAGE SILVER BEACH

FINAL SCORE: 25-22 SILVER BEACH
Both offenses are strong, but the strength of the domestic league will put Silver over the top. I believe we will score in the final 5 minutes to take the lead and win. GO SILVER BEACH!!!!!

COSUMAR DRAGONS: GAELIC FOOTBALL CHAMPIONS!

The first ever Gaelic Football World Cup, hosted by Unitopolis, came to conclusion earlier tonight. In the championship game the Cosumar Dragons were pitted against Silver Beach, both were unbeaten so far and obviously very talented. The game was predicted by many to be high scoring with scores like 25-22. However, it was quite the opposite. Cosumar ended up edging the Silver Beach squad by a score of 15-13, claiming the Gaelic Football World Cup I.

Fans of Cosumar sports all over the nation are celebrating tonight, having watched a Cosumar team run the table at a major tournament. The Dragons claimed this trophy below, which will be on public display for all to see in the sports sector of the capital city Ramusok.

The team itself is overjoyed. An emotional Thomas Hair came to tears during his interview after the game.

"This is just what I've dreamed about my whole life. Ever since I was 4, when I was just staring Gaelic Football, I wanted to be where I am right now, winning a GFWC. Now that my dreams are actually coming true, and having them come true with my best friends, is truly amazing. Congrats to Silver Beach as well, you guys did great." he said.

The game itself was a very even one. Both teams got off to a slow start and the score was tied 0-0 halfway through. Both teams came alive in the second part of the game with several points being produced by Jimmy Strong (SB) and Thomas Hair (COS). With about 5 minutes left Thomas Hair scored to give Cosumar a slight 15-13 lead. The Dragons then played excellent defense and prevented the Silver Beach team from scoring for the win.

Congratulations to both teams for a remarkable performance tonight and throughout the cup. Go Dragons!
