Hi! I use xkoranate for my Prusai Athletics Champs.

First, I made some experiment: 100m Men, one guy with 1 skill point, the second with 20, the third with 100. And you know what? They all had really similar results. Do I do something wrong? I would like to build an interesting Role Play (National Eliminations for Olympics, National Records) but it's pointless if xkoranate doesn't care about my orders. Surely, I understand that results may vary, that the good guy could have a crappy day and the poor guy had a great day, but even if it occured, the guy with 100 pts should have won with 20 pts and 1 pts.

Any advice?

BTW: sorry for my English.

xkoranate is nothing more than a fancy random numbers generator. Although the athlete with 100 skill points should theoreticaly should win, Margaret will sometimes throw a curve ball and suprise you. If you do a multiple-run competition instead of just a single "mass start" one, you'll see that the athlete with 100 skill points will eventually be in first and stay in first.

EDIT: In fact, when I tried multiple run, everything was okay. Thanks for help.

Could anyone possibly explain scorinating Sailing events?

While I get how to scorinate a match race (as is with the case for keelboat) but I'm unsure how to scorinate a multi-stage fleet race, as is with the case with many of the Olympic Sailing events. I'm just not sure how to scorinate a second stage or pulling up the results afterward. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks. Do you or anyone else have experience with what variances work best for different types of course or lap times?

Not particularly with regards to the circuit type; clearly though the same variance would produce larger gaps with longer lap times.

You could also adjust variance to match the type of weather you wish to RP the race in; a wet race would likely have a larger variance.

Don't expect answers in an hour. This isn't a service and your question could never be answered (Depending on people's interest).

Just make a cup with one group and two teams, that's how you do it.

Is there any way of including style mods in semicolon-delineated files?
Also, is there any way of specifiying that teams are in divisions or groups from within semicolon-delineated files, rather than using the xkoranate interface?

For the first one, no, at least not yet. For the second one, I don't think so, but I've never tried.

Hey guys, sorry if it's been posted in the thread before but I browsed the first few pages of the thread and didn't have the motivation to browse all 38. I'd like to host an event; a daunting task, of course. I downloaded xkoranate, clicked on the .exe and- already lost. I have absolutely no idea what to do or what I'm doing and no matter how hard I search google or browse the NSWiki, I can't find a tutorial on how to use it. Babbage Islands tried to start a users guide, but all he posted were reserve posts and never actually started it. If someone has a link somewhere to a tutorial, it would be much appreciated.

There isn't one at the moment. If you have a specific question someone will probably be able to answer it, but there's no user manual.

Download the application, click the icon that say xkorinate. It will take you to the bonuses screen, but we'll leave that for later. Look on the side, where it says "add events". It will give you a list of sports. Choose the sport you wish to scorinate, select options such as home advantage near the bottom, and click continue. It will take you to a screen that says "add participants". Here, you will put in the names, ranks (if applicable), and style mods of the competing teams. Once all teams are entered, click continue. It will ask what sort of competition you wish to have (round-robin, single matches, etc), as well as the option to select other things. Click continue, and you will set up the groups the teams are in. Once this is done, click continue, and scorinate by clicking the dice.
To all RP bonus, use the selector tools on the "bonuses" screen, on the left.

Hope that helps :)

Carmadin, that was insanely helpful. I didn't know you had to click the Event tab and then add a new event; I was just clicking the Event category itself and trying to mess with the settings on the right. I'll try scorinating a few fake events just to get the hang of it and then I'll try organizing my own event. Thanks a bunch.

Okay, so I've tried scorinating a couple things for fun. I've set up eight teams and put them all in one group to simulate a round robin with 2 legs. This is an American Football scorination. For some reason, I go to scorinate Matchday 3, and every match is played by the same two teams with the same exact score. Did I do something wrong? I didn't assign skill levels to any of the teams, if that matters.

I haven't tried scorinating American Football with xkoranate, however I gave a test run a go.

If it matters, I tried this with "American Football, SQIS formula, Sudden-death overtime." I also added no skill levels. (xkoranate does work better when using skill levels.)
Tried scorinating four MDs worth of results, got different scores each time.

One thing that could be going on is on the "Set Participants" screen, the team name is entered under "Participant;" the "Team" field is for the nation abbreviation (ex: 95X, BOJ, etc.). I've messed this up before (easy to do when beginning from scratch); fortunately I was generating results for a domestic league on a test run anyhow:
See where I messed up? I threw these results out and started fresh.

After the initial learning curve xkoranate is very easy to use, as the same basic setup is used for any sport.

I hate to sound like such a noob on the verge of the event, but there is the category for bonuses in xkoranate. I'm assuming this is how you add the matchday RP bonuses to teams? Is it as easy as just adding the team name and assigning a bonus or am I over-simplifying it?
