Actually, that format sounds alot like IFAF overtime (better known as NCAA overtime).

That's correct (with minor changes that could be remedied by adjusting the modifiers), except that if the team that went first scored a touchdown in less than four downs, the team that went second only had that many downs to score. So, if there's a five percent chance that Team A would score a touchdown on first down, and a 25 percent chance that they'd score on one of the four downs, and they do in fact score a touchdown on first down, then Team B's chance of scoring a touchdown should then be five percent, not 25 percent, and xkoronate can't support that.

Also, reposting this since i edited it in after Ilyseum bumped us to the next page.

I know its a long time since the last post here, but I need help:
Can somebody please help me with creating such a XML file?

Its actually a plain text file, assuming you want to use auto upload for entries.

Create a plain text document - you can do this in notepad/wordpad or textedit, just have a look in the menus and you should find out how to convert your rich text to plain text.

Write your list of entries, seperating each field by a semi-colon (;), and starting each entry on a new line. Entries are listed participant, team, skill. Style mods cannot be entered using the function. Like this:

John Doe;Examplestan;1
Jane Citizen;Examplestan;1

Save that file, the open xkoronate. Hit the import button at the bottom of the enter participants screen, select your saved file, and its done.

A quick addition to what Barunia said - unfortunately, this does not support style modifiers.

It's more helpful when you have people doing their signups themselves and supplyinn you with a skill - i.e. the Olympics - so you don't have to manually enter 100+ competitors.

Its also very easy to convert a spreadsheet to that format. Just design it so that the fields for entry name, trigram and scorination rank are right next to each other in the spreadsheet, select them, copy and paste to a text file then copy the tab character and do a find and replace to replace it with a semi-colon (or 2 semi-colons if you aren't using the trigram field).

I use the "concatenate" function to get all the fields and semi-colons into a single cell, then just copy and paste the column.

I've wanted to try putting together a domestic association football pyramid for a while now, and I just started to try to scorinate a league where teams are rated 0 to 100 with xkorinate. I read through Northern Sunrise Islands's guide to xkorinate, but I am still having troubles. I've done a test run with my top division, where teams' ratings range from 85 to 100. However, it seems like results are more based on luck than skill. Is there a way to increase or decrease how much or little random chance plays into results? Also, unrelated, but while I was reading that xkorinate guide, I saw that Northern Sunrise Islands gave a lecture called Red Devils No More about naming teams. It isn't as important to me as getting my league off the ground, so I wouldn't want to cause anyone any unnecessary troubles, but does happen to know where I might find that?

Not the original post, but here's Red Devils No More

As for your results, you may need to tweek your rankings until you get the results you desire.

You can adjust the constants in the sport file for whichever formula you're using but generally you'd be better off using the full 0 to 100 scale for each division of your league. When you do a cup competition or a promotion/relegation playoff, you can rank the lowest division from 0 to 100, the second lowest from 101 to 200 and so on.

Had this problem when downloading Saintland's hockey scorinator. Open the actual file and look over the code to make sure everything is right. Odds are the problem is within the file itself.

I think it's probably something as simple as an extra line break throwing off xkoranate's file reading code. There should be absolutely nothing (not even a line break or a space) in the file after the </sport> tag. If the </sport> tag is missing entirely, that'd probably break it as well (if you leave out a closing tag or close a tag other than the most recent one you opened, it may break things whether you're talking about HTML, XML or BBCode).

IIRC, the </sport> tag was there, but was missing the /. It took me about four or five times of looking, and comparison with the other files to find it, but I got it working.

Sailing scorinater

Postby Ormencia Bythoria » Thu Apr 13, 2017 11:04 pm

This is probably going to sound weird to some of you, but does anyone know where I can find a scorinator that I could use for a sailing regatta?

If not, are there any good guides on how to make a scorinator?
