Welcome once more to the 2024 Women's Colaza Cup! Unlike last year, this year's competition will not be held in Baumes so you may have a chance to host this prestigious tournament! A total of 16 spots are available, in which your nation may send 1 team to compete. Anyone is free to join in, so long that you are in The Western Isles and its regional map. Of course, this will be covered in the news and you may also do so if you wish.

By now, probably some of you may be familiar with Colaza, but here's a quick summary of it. Colaza is a fictional sport unique to The Western Isles, it is a completely imagined sport I made up. To give a summary, there will be 3-4 people per team (in this competition only 3 are permitted) and their aim is to return a ball to the opposing team until a team fails to successfully return a ball or breaks a law. The team may only touch the ball 3 times consecutively before returning. Sounds a lot like volleyball, however, the catch is that you cannot use your hands. They must return the ball with any part of the body except the hands. Furthermore, the team may only have possession of the ball at a maximum of 8 seconds - any longer and you lose the point. The team with the most points after 90 minutes wins and progresses. I highly recommend you read the dispatch linked above for a more detailed and thorough explanation, since this is merely a summary of the sport.

Registrations close on 13 May, unless the number of teams registered aren't met. Otherwise, the tournament will start on said date and conclude by 23 May. Below is a format you may use to register.

Is your nation capable of hosting this? (infrastructure, transport, politics, etc): Lezen, Wangano has a great metro system that connects most parts of the city and is across the road from the Muol Metro station and also Lezen has a large airport with flights and airlines to all parts of the Isles. The Muol Colaza Dome was completed in 2021 and is a World Class stadium and one of the highest capacity seating stadiums made for Colaza. A Cube scoreboard in the middle of the Colaza Court giving you accurate score and the stadium has four large retractable windows on all sides to let in fresh air. The idea of getting to the stadium is to use, The Metro, Taxi’s, Rideshare, Tuk Tuk and Buses outside the stadium they have gardens with ponds and a video board outside so that people can watch the match from outside the stadium.

Why does your nation want to host this? (just give a brief reason): Wangano is a world class country and they value sports and second of all the Women’s Colaza is better than the men’s and Wangano has not hosted a single Colaza cup Tournament in the last 30 years and it is apart of their sporting program to host a Colaza cup by 2050.

Proposed venue and location (venue capacity too): Arlborg Arena, Anders, Bragenn (Capacity: 28,000 seats, can be expanded to 30,268 seats)

Is your nation capable of hosting this? (infrastructure, transport, politics, etc): Anders, Bragenn is a very technologically advanced city in northern Bragenn, one of the largest in the nation. The city's international airport is the 2nd largest in the nation, handling millions of passengers a year. A very reliable subway system connects the airport to downtown, and W Avenue Street Station is connected to the stadium. Other transportation methods include taxis, busses, rental cars, etc. The arena itself was constructed in 2016 for the Danteg Coyotes of the IBL (International Basketbul League), and contains a wrap around scoreboard and many box suites. As mentioned, upper rows and ground room in the arena can be converted for more seating. Even though the Arena is mainly purposed for Basketbul (Basketball), it is the home for the Women's Colaza team and has a retractable court. Arlborg Arena's exterior walls are able to broadcast the game for those outside the stadium, with brilliant engineered technology.

Why does your nation want to host this? (just give a brief reason): Bragenn is a nation well renown for world-class sports, but has just really started focusing on Colaza. The team is decent, but Bragenn is in this bid really to experience the sport first hand and to bring the sport to the fans while developing methods of hosting major events.

Miriam Caballero, aged 21

Miriam's story is one rooted in the simple joys of life on Saint Ardor del Alba, where Colaza is more than just a sport – it's a way of connecting with the community and embracing tradition. As Miriam entered her teens, her skills in Colaza began to catch the eye of prestigious sporting organizations in Argus. She started participating in Baumish tournaments, where her grace and agility on the court earned her a reputation as a promising talent. Despite the attention, Miriam remains down-to-earth, always expressing gratitude for the support she receives from her tight-knit community.

Miriam's journey isn't about grand victories on an international stage; instead, it's a celebration of the genuine love she holds for Colaza and the camaraderie it fosters.

Amalie Danvers, aged 26

Amalie Danvers, born in Saint Ardor del Alba to Solaryian immigrant parents, is one of the most ambitious Colaza players of recent years. Her journey began on local courts, where she quickly rose through the ranks. Seeking greater challenges, she ventured to Kravato, honing her skills in the competitive Colaza scene.

Returning to her homeland, Amalie now captains Saint Ardor's Women's Colaza team in the 2024 Women's Colaza Cup. Ambitious and hungry for recognition, she aims to prove her mettle on the international stage. Amalie's journey is a testament to the belief that talent, determination, and cross-cultural influences can propel a Colaza player from a small island to the global spotlight.

Nerea Pescador, aged 19

At just 19, Nerea Pescador is the newest face in Saint Ardor's Colaza scene. Recognizing her potential, Amalie Danvers, the team captain, chose Nerea as the final player for the Women's Colaza Cup squad. Despite her age, Nerea brings agility, precision, and passion to the court. Watch out for this rising star as she aims to make her mark in the international scene.

The trio, carefully chosen for their distinct strengths and collective synergy, is poised to redefine their small nation's place in the Colaza hierarchy. Filled with pride and anticipation, the Ardorans believe that this united force will not only make waves in the Women's Colaza Cup but will also solidify Saint Ardor del Alba's reputation as a rising powerhouse in the world of Colaza.

Is your nation capable of hosting this? (infrastructure, transport, politics, etc): Definitely. Helimala'e is Tricklandia's 9th largest city, with about 500 thousand people living in it, and is known as Tricklandia's "city of artists"; it's kind of the nation's Hollywood, together with a lot of other musical, artistic and artisanal landmarks and museums, and one of the oldest historical city centers, hosting the second largest A'ana astrolabe in existence. It's, of course, well connected to the rest of Kwaa'ena Island and Tricklandia as a whole by rail, and a high speed line connects it to New Hipvil's international airport, approx. 190km away, in a bit less than one hour. It has four subway lines, totaling approx. 60 stations, and a wide array of trams and buses to support.
Why does your nation want to host this? (just give a brief reason): Tricklandia's a major player in Women's Colaza, and the government is really eager to show the world Mauricans are welcome here, and the RHR scare is no more.

Despite having a national team for several years; the sports its relatively unknown in the United Commonwealths; often mistaken for Volleyball and similar sports. Following the UC's "GREAT" campaign, which too encompasses sports, the team is slowly gaining popularity in the public eye. Spurred on by last-year's successes in the men's team; the Alteran team is hoping to go further this year.
