Welcome all to the 2023 Colaza Cup! In this year's 74th edition of the annual Colaza Cup, the event will be hosted in Santiara, Baumes, a seaside city located in the Baumish province of Faja. A total of 12 spots are available, in which your nation may send 1 team to compete. Anyone is free to join in, so long that you are in The Western Isles and its regional map. Of course, this will be covered in the news and you may also do so if you wish.

Firstly, most of you may be confused as to what even is Colaza. Colaza is a fictional sport unique to The Western Isles, it is a completely imagined sport I made up. To give a summary, there will be 3-4 people per team (in this competition only 3 are permitted) and their aim is to return a ball to the opposing team until a team fails to successfully return a ball or breaks a law. The team may only touch the ball 3 times consecutively before returning. Sounds a lot like volleyball, however, the catch is that you cannot use your hands. They must return the ball with any part of the body except the hands. Furthermore, the team may only have possession of the ball at a maximum of 8 seconds - any longer and you lose the point. The team with the most points after 90 minutes wins and progresses. I highly recommend you read the dispatch linked above for a more detailed and thorough explanation, since this is merely a summary of the sport.

Registrations close on December 23, unless the amount of teams registered aren't met. Otherwise, the tournament will start on said date and conclude by December 30. Below is a format you may use to register.

Team name: Lesva National Colaza Team

This is a new sport for Lesva and there has not been that much exposure to it in Lesva, thus the skills of our team are mid. They are mid rather than on the lower end, because the Throngist government makes sure that Lesva's sports representatives excel in international competition by overseeing the training (No performance enhancers are used though).

[Tricklandia]

As Tricklandia was a Baumish colony I imagine its Colaza team to be somewhat competitive; not that much, though, as soccer and football have more dedicated players.

[Great Altera]

Team name: Great Alteran National Colaza Team (Alteran Arachnids)

Despite having a national team for several years; the sports its relatively unknown in the United Commonwealths; often mistaken for Volleyball and similar sports. Following the UC's "GREAT" campaign, which too encompasses sports, the team is slowly gaining popularity in the public eye.

[Wangano]

Colaza was introduced to Wangano in 1968 by the Communist Wanganoan Government. The sport was spread by the new dictator Pan Chack Goh after watching a Colaza game in Rochelle, Baumes he then bought the sport home. The sport is practiced in Schools across the country as a sport. Along with the sport being the 5 most popular in the country.

Colaza is incredibly popular in Mardio because it was one of the few sports permitted in the nation following the brief ban on "decadent sports" in the 1960s. The Mardian Men's Colaza Team is made up of elite Colaza players who are recognized for their impeccable offensive form.

[Kravato]

Colaza is mainly large in Kravato throughout the Maurican minority in Kravato, which accounts for nearly 1.8 million Maurican-Kravatoans. Though many Kravatoans are not familiar with the sport, this minority has allowed it to strive and grow within Kravato. The first iterations of the team came at the end of the IW, with the influx of Maurican immigrants, and it was made an official national team in 1957. Of the three on the team, all three are Maurican-Kravatoans.

[The Tsunterlands]

Colaza is extremely big among the Maurican population in the Tsunterlands. The team and its fans protest their official name and instead refer to themselves exclusively as the Límnian Colaza Club

Lancerians Are not Very Good At Any Foreign Sports Besides English Influenced Sports, But Several Civilians Of The State Have Organized Groups To Embrace Foreign Sports, In Order To Improve Their Physique Not Only With British Influenced Sports, But Neighboring Influenced Sports As Well

Colaza is a very niche sport in Takiv, usually popular among small immigrant communities. Recently, however, the sport has become somewhat of a fad, particularly among young middle-class urbanites. The national team is still pretty medium range in its skill level, though.

The sport would be extremely popular with the Maurican population of the UP, but would also be one of the most popular sports even among the non-Maurican Salimanese population. This rise in popularity would have began in the 1950s. This sport is similar to a local Salimanese ball game which similarly bars all use of hands, the difference being scoring through a horizontal hoop rather than over a net. For these reasons, UP invests heavily into the sport, with some of the top Colaza players.
