NSTT FINALS

The NationStates Tennis Tour is celebrating the end of the season with the traditional NSTT Finals and the fourth edition of the Diamond Trophy. Associasoin Tennis Brityunik [ATB] is proud to host the event in Quickenden, Britonisea - the nation hosting the event for the first time in nearly a decade.

The NSTT Final | MEGA Indoor Arena
The NSTT Finals offers winners up to 1,500 points for a perfect run. The top eight singles players and doubles pairs in the rankings are automatically entered into the season-ending championship (players must not come from nations that have ceased to exist). Players are put into four pots of two, and players from each pot are put into two round-robin groups of four. Everyone plays each other once, and the top two in each group enter to the semifinals. Winners play runners-up in the opposite group, in the lead-up to the final.

Diamond Trophy | Quickenden Tennis Centre
The Diamond Trophy was created to award nations who have demonstrated the principles of fair play. If nations decline their spots, then the same criteria are used to reallocate these spots. A maximum of 700 points are up for grabs for a perfect run. Because the emphasis of this tournament is roleplay; roleplay points are doubled in the round-robin stage, to ensure low-ranked players can catch up to their peers. Seeded players will be given their own group, with the rest of the players placed into four pots - three in each pot. Groups are then allocated, one from each pot per group. Everyone plays each other once, and the top two in each group enter the quarterfinals. It is then a knock-out to the finals: A1st v D2nd who will then play D1st v A2nd and B1st v C2nd who will then play C1st v B2nd. This means that there could be a rematch in the semi-finals, but the two top seeds won't reach each other until the finals if they make it that far.

Scorination

Similarly to The Britonish Open, the latest tennis files for xkoranate will be used. Singles will be the best of three with a tiebreak if the final set reaches 6-6. In the doubles, it will also be a best of three sets, with the final set being a tiebreak - the first to ten points. This is in accordance with the real-life ATP World Tour finals. As with all tennis tournaments, scorinations will be daily - probably with a rest day added in before the knockouts.

The highest daily bonus will be worth slightly higher than they are at The Britonish Open. I’ll take a similar approach as I do during TBO/TBC when it comes to grading.

The format that will be used will be exactly the same as previous Tour Finals, with a small group stage leading into knockouts. The chosen tennis players will be the top 8 singles and doubles players, with those that participate in the Diamond Trophy being chosen by the NationStates Tennis Tour officials. ATB will be on hand to provide any support or suggestions to the NSTT.

Tiebreaks during the group stages will be wins, H2H wins and in case of a three-way draw, percentage of sets won, percentage of games won.

Schedule (Cut-off: 8pm - 10pm UTC)
7th December 2023 - Round Robin 1v4 2v3
8th December 2023 - Round Robin 4v3 1v2
9th December 2023 - Round Robin 2v4 3v1, qualifiers announced
11th December 2023 - Quarterfinals, diamond trophy only
12th December 2023 - Semi-Finals
13th December 2023 - Finals

On the days where scorination clashes with that of the IBSXX, scorination will happen after the results have been posted for that.

Britonisea within Novapax

Britonisea | The Almost Champions of the ITT

The United Republic of Britonisea is located in the Northern hemisphere of the Novapax on the Terra Centurium continent and is home to 62 million people. Britonisea is a diverse, modern and innovative nation, with excellent technological advancement, and sustainability and ranks highly as a nation with high equality. Britonisea has many different climates due to its geographical position and its ultra-high mountainous zone which stretches down the middle of the nation known as “the spine of Britonisea”. While the nation experiences a wide range of different temperatures and climates, the major cities are usually located in places that have a temperate climate in the south, while a continental climate is major in the north. The nation has particular interests in its Arts and Culture sector - with a vibrant film and television industry which it prides itself on, an endless array of museums and exhibition halls for people to attend and an explosive music scene which has been recognised throughout the multiverse. The nation has a major interest in sports, too. Below are some quick facts about Britonisea...

Quick Facts about Britonisea
  1. The currency is the Brito Pound Sterling (£): The Britons will say '1 Brito' when referring to money, with 100 pence making 1 Brito. The currency rate is $1.68 NSD = £1 BPS.
  2. The capital city is Doportedas, which is the most populous city: While Doportedas is the capital and home to over 6 million people, Telm City is the largest city by space and was the former capital of Britonisea. Telm has just over 5 million people.
Languages: English is the official and most used language in Britonisea, but Britonish and French are also widely spoken. Britonish is spoken in the east more, while in the west French is spoken more. There's about 15-20 million Britonish speakers in Britonisea with most knowing basic phrases while there's over 6 million French speakers in the west.
  3. Britonisea drives on the left: Britonisea, alongside Aloquirbe and Estogium, all drives on the left handside of the road - this goes for railways too.
  4. The timezone is +0: The timezone that Britonisea is in is UTC - Britonisea is on Terra Centurium which is known as the continent that is considered in the centre of the map.
  5. Expect mild and average temperatures: The north of Britonisea is very much near the Arctic Circle meaning that its pretty freezing up there, with some snowfall already being reported there. This has meant that the IBS has been pushed down to the south where you can expect temperatures between 7C and 16C throughout the course of the IBSXX.
  6. Eighteen is your number: The minimum age for most things is 18 in Britonisea - the full age of consent, alcohol purchases, cigarettes etc. Drugs are strictly banned in Britonisea which adopts a no-tolerance to such things, including marijuana.
  7. The emergency number is triple 7: If you ever have an issue in Britonisea, just dial 777 and you'll be put through to the police, fire department or ambulance.

The most popular sport in Britonisea is tennis, with the nation being fairly successful in the Olympic Games. Britonish players may have not had as much success as some of its counterparts in terms of major wins, but the sport is widely watched with Britonish fans willing to watch tennis players they recognise even if they aren't Britonish. It is expected that the atmosphere in Quickenden will be much more relaxed than it is in the Britonish Open where fans tend to be a lot quieter and more respectful. Expect audiences to be engaged and challenge tennis players who cause arguments or abuse racquets, while cheering for their opponent or an underdog. Though, while Britonish fans are respectful, they most definitely will nearly always back their team. With Britonisea's almost win at the ITT, its gold medal at the Olympics and successful hosting of The Britonish Open & The Barlinedon Championships, fans are more engaged in tennis than ever - with opinions of (and their reactions to players from) certain nations having been formed based on Britonish players' recent matches. Though, it's important to note not to take the Britonish side too seriously, especially when against one of their players and if you look hard enough, you'll see a banner or two from a Briton supporting the other side.

Home of the NSTT Finals this year...

Choosing one of Britonisea's biggest arenas, the MEGA Indoor Arena, was perfect with and with an audience of 24,000 - it sets a relatively realistic target for ATB to reach - at least for the final few matches. The MEGA Indoor Arena has hosted other events too that those across the multiverse are aware of, including the 41st WorldVision Song Contest - Britonisea's first hosting of the singing competition, Vha Mehlodhivestoile - BVC's flagship entertainment show that is broadcasted in 24 nations as well as domestic competitions. The MEGA Indoor Arena plays host to several sporting events throughout the year and of course is a hotspot for music performances from the biggest stars across the multiverse.

The Quickenden Tennis Complex will host most of the Diamond Trophy events, while the final few matches will be moved to the MEGA Indoor Arena as the number of NSTT matches goes down during the knock-out round. The Quickenden Tennis Complex is a world-class venue which was in the running to be the temporary host of The Britonish Open while Barlinedon was being refurbished ahead of it's upgrade to Tier 1 status. It is expected that sometime after the ITT, which is being hosted in Electrum, the final list of those participating in the MEGA Indoor Arena and QTC will be announced but its certain that there will be no Britons in the singles lineup for the second time in a row. Ralph Newkarn managed to recapture the title of Britonish Number 1, but still does not rank high enough to be invited to the finals. He can only wait to see whether he gets invited to the Diamond Trophy but this is unlikely as many other Britons such as Lukas Valerio and Aaliyah de Leon have made more impressive moves up the rankings in Season 9.

Overall, there are 36 sessions you can buy tickets for across the two sites, with ticket prices going from as cheap as £20 BPS to £550 BPS. For more information, click here!

Neufloor will be providing the surface here at the NSTT Season 9 finals. The purple-coated courts will be their T-Pro variant which is used at the Kasandora Open. We decided to choose Neufloor because of their track record of providing excellent quality in big events - they were the ones that supplied the flooring for many sports at the Games of the XV Olympiad in Electrum!

Dorotea Granit’s diary

Dear diary.

I’ve been engaged in a fair amount of introspection recently. I’ve been feeling off, not quite myself. The finals are coming up soon. End-of-the-year-festivities. There’s always been a very distinct prestige connected with emerging triumphant in the very last tournament, which is exclusively made up of the highest ranked players. Normally, this would be a time of preparation for me. I would be starting to adjust myself and find the right killing frequency, my mind solely dedicated to visualizing how I stampede through the field slashing left and right, and not stopping until my hand can clasp the coveted trophy and lift it up high while I stand atop a pile of bodies. This is my instinct, this is my drive. This is my life. Every second of every day for as long as I can remember has been dedicated to wanting to win more than the others. Not so today. Today my mind wanders, the very opposite of the razor-sharp-one-track-mind I am known for. I know not what I think of, for my mind jumps from thought to thought at an incredible speed; my brain is like a scatter-plot with an infinite number of moving dots where it is impossible to find any inkling of a connection or a bigger picture. I see faces flash by in an instant. I experience the highest highs and lowest lows simultaneously. Something is different, something has changed.

DIAMOND TROPHY-Quickenden - Britonisea

TENA ŠPIRIČIĆ TAVANO IS BACK!

BY

IVAN JURLINA

Dear viewers, welcome to the show "IT'S TENNIS TIME!"
After the big problems in which our tennis association found itself, including the interference of politics, due to which we could not perform on the international scene, our tennis players are back.
What's happend ?
The Minister of Sports, the former Minister of Sports Oleg Tarković illegally dismissed the newly elected president of the association Ulio Škreblin and vice-president of the tennis association Amelia Sutić. The change occurred because the minister declared the legal elections illegal because his candidate, also his son-in-law, Miro Ivanić, did not receive enough votes.
To make matters even worse, the minister, without the Prime Minister's knowledge, froze the account of the tennis association and that process caused enormous damage to the work of the association and clubs.
At the same time, the minister froze the account of the "Plava Laguna" tennis tournament, which was removed from the tennis calendar due to this situation.
In accordance with international regulations, politicians and political parties must not interfere in the work of sports clubs and associations, our tennis association had to be absent for 200 calendar days until the situation was resolved.

Since our players were absent from the field more than 200 days, they lost a lot of points and fell in the NSTT ranking.
However, the light at the end of the tunnel has appeared because an invitation has arrived for our players to the "Diamond Trophy" tennis tournament.
Tena Špiričić Tavano will represent us in the singles competition and Tena and Alina Koreleva in the doubles competition.
Tena is our guest in the studio today.
Tena, welcome.

TENA: thank you very much. Hello viewers.

JURLINA: incredible things happened, how do you comment on all that?

TENA: the biggest victims of all these 200 days were us, athletes, also youngsters and children who play this wonderful sport. Tennis in our country received a new international blow after the one with corruption two years ago.
This is all about the personal interest of individuals. Some people who wanted to enter to tennis do not care about the development of the sport or about tennis, but only about personal improvement and interest. Of course, during that time, we sat helplessly at home and watched the outcome. We did not expect such a shameful blow.

JURLINA: how did you spend those 200 days?

TENA : It was terribly difficult. It was just as difficult for me as it was for Takanobu. As you know, the former minister tried a similar coup in football too. Takanobu and I just got back from our honeymoon.
On the way back, I told him that I rested too long and that I will have to train hard to get back in shape. However, the day after that everything stopped.

JURLINA: were you able to train?

TENA: I called the boys, Goran and Leo, they have their own personal court behind the house, I trained there. The guys were really great. They invited everyone who wanted to train to come. We have organized with them for an hourly rate when someone would come.

JURLINA: The academies didn't work?

TENA: no. Although the academies are private, but in order for them to function, you have to satisfy many things prescribed by the tennis association. They are private but operate under an association. If the association does not work, neither can the academies. Because the association is the supreme body that grants licenses and controls the work of academies.

JURLINA: So Ibrahimović and Farkaš saved the thing?

TENA: they softened the blow, I would say so. Many thanks to them for that.

JURLINA : You received an invitation to the Diamond Trophy in Quickenden. The third largest city in Britonisea. You are placed in Lisicki's group with second seed Andrew Simmons of Electrum, Ralph Newkarn of Britonisea and Kora Sunder of Qasden. What do you think about the group?

TENA: At this moment, I think it will be a success if I beat anyone. I'm not in a competitive rhythm, I'm not in shape, I'll need a lot of luck.
I don't even think about passing.
Simmons is the twelfth player in the world, a great player, very smart and tactically the best of all who appear at the Diamond Trophy.
Ralph Newkarn is in the top 20, currently the 18th player in the world. Fast, agile, but maybe this pitch is not the best for him, but he is playing in front of the home crowd, so that minus, if we can say so, will be zeroed out with the crowd.
Kora Sunder is the lowest in rankings of all of us in the group, but she is top 50 player. However, she is very dangerous and drew attention to herself with her games and deservedly received an invitation.

JURLINA : So the competition is extremely strong.

TENA: this is top competition. These players will certainly attract a lot of spectators looking for great matches. Especially since the finale of the top best players is also played. Tennis treat in Britonise.

JURLINA: We see equally strong competition in doubles.

TENA: today there is no weak competition. That's why doubles are special. Competition in doubles is more equal than in singles competition.

JURLINA : Tena, thank you for hosting. We wish you good luck and success in the tournament.
Dear viewers, we want you to sit comfortably today because we will be directly involved in the broadcast of the end of the tennis season. That much for now. Have a nice day.

Back to NSTT Finals

Quickenden, Britonisea - No one ever predicted that Season 9 of NSTT will be a big season for Pemecutan. Not because of the number of trophies that the players have won, but because of the comeback of Pemecutanian players in NSTT Finals. At the start of the season, it looked like Pemecutan will miss out NSTT Finals this season as they were struggling in much of the tournaments. But further into the season, the hope is getting bigger and bigger until the last competition, International Tennis Trophy, confirmed 2 Pemecutanian players in the Finals. Thus, making the most Pemecutanian players ever qualified to the Finals.

In the history of Pemecutan participation at NSTT Finals since the start of the new era, the country had qualified in 2 other finals competition. The start of the new era, Season 6 of NSTT, Ngurah Putra Muliawan became the only representatives in the finals. And he went to win the competition. He defeats Pelissa Giannapolous of Electrum by 6-3, 6-2. Then in Season 7, not a single Pemecutanian players were qualified with Dewa Putu Adrian Putra and Indah Susanti was in 9th and 10th of year-to-date rank. And lastly in Season 8, Komang Antari/Kadek Andreawati represent Pemecutan in the Finals as the country's first double pair in the competition. But they failed to advance further from the group stage.

In this season, only 4 countries competed in the single event of NSTT Finals. Ceni placed the most players with 4 followed by Pemecutan with 2 players. The last 2 players are representatives from Gnejs and Electrum. While in double event, 4 out of 8 pairs are a mixed nation pair where Cenian player present in all of them. On the other hand, Ceni also qualified 2 others pure Cenian pairs. Thus, making them qualified the most players too in the double event. Aside from Ceni, the double event sees representatives from Electrum, Britonisea, San Ortelio and Gnejs. In another competition, The Diamond Trophy sees a more vibrant representatives including the great newcomer from Kanmer and Archalit, returnee Recuecn, Srednjaci and Qasden. And of course, the regular, Britonisea, Acastanha, Electrum and Pemecutan. But this season, Pemecutan only enter the double event of Diamond Trophy base on the rule of the competition. Komang Antari/Kadek Andreawati represent Pemecutan in the tournament together with Chandra Wiguna who is paired with Acastanhada player, Bruno Ayragadh.

Many Pemecutanian tennis fans have brought the ticket of the tournament to watch their tennis idols playing. While for them who failed to get the ticket of can't come to Quickenden, don't worry. All of the matches of NSTT Finals and Diamond Trophy will be broadcasted live by GOR Channel.

Previewing the NSTT Finals: the culmination of a long and winding road
Vyri Arcaina, chief correspondent

Welcome to the jungle, where all the groups are tough, there are no low-ranked players to cause upsets, yet every permutation of results is possible at the end of the day. No, we misspoke: welcome to the NSTT Finals, the culminating end-of-season tournament for the top eight singles players and doubles teams. Ceni did so well in the competition for the main tournament that it got totally shut out of the accompanying Diamond Trophy, the second-tier end-of-year tournament. But that's nothing to get hung up on, especially with the withdrawal of the two Dexterran entrants from the main shebang, so without further ado, let's look at the four groups our players are in (yes, that's every group in the tournament):

Group Foyner
In a bit of happenstance, Xander Foyner-Evatee, the wunderkind world number two and top seed in this tournament landed in the group named after his mother. (Tournament organizers named the groups after former world number ones who no longer compete on the NSTT.) It's his first NSTT finals after a breakout season that saw him take the Mercedinian Open crown. But he faces a tough test for his debut: Lonus Varalin sits as the number two in this group; Varalin qualified comfortably even after an uncertain spell mid-year, and he has the tools to overpower Foyner-Evatee at a moment's notice... should he not get into too much of a tizzy. And while Indah Susanti essentially only performed well on grass and on home soil, she will be threatening, especially if the courts in Quickenden end up playing pretty fast. (A positive note for Foyner-Evatee, at least: He defeated Susanti in the high-stakes Mercedinian Open final. So we at least know that he can perform well against Susanti under pressure). Rounding out the group is Dorotea Granit of Gnejs, a former world number one who felt almost out of the competition during the clay court season... only to rocket back into contention with a victory at the Britonish Open. So while a sudden spurt may be in the cards with her return to Britonish soil, I wouldn't bet the rent money on that outcome.

Semifinalists: Varalin, Susanti

Group Sabanero
In contrast to the previous group, more even down the middle, this group looks like it has a clear top half and bottom half: Ardil Navsal and Janet Riley on the top, Johmer Vales and Dewa Putu Adrian Putra at the bottom. Vales and Putra just played recently at the ITT, where the last spot at this tournament was still on the line. There, Vales proved the victor, though Putra got the last laugh as he qualified for this tournament in Michael Loy's place. But the two semifinalists in this group will probably come from the top two: number two seed Ardil Navsal, or number three seed Janet Riley. Navsal won the Cenian Open at the beginning of the year, a victory that pretty much ensured his place here; an Olympic Gold Medal added to his trophy haul. Riley only has one title this season, and an abysmal Grand Slam record, but she excelled in the Tier 1 events: four finals across the year, including that title on home soil in Burnton. Both players seem to be in a category above and beyond Vales and Putra (although we can only say that the singles this year is missing the true standout player of the year, Michael Loy).

Semifinalists: Navsal, Riley

Group Southgate/Elliot
Like Group Sabanero in the singles, Group Southgate/Elliot has two favoured teams at the top: Gyrachor Rentos and Sara Zhuo, pretty much the best team in the NSTT since their partnership in Season 7, and the home favourites Jaguar Zenteanite and Zeke Newham, who have shot up the rankings this year to become the #3 seed at this tournament (the Mercedinian Open Grand Slam title didn't hurt). On the other side of the coin, Cornelis Zapfe and Jac Iegis have been consistent across the year, even if they did flag for a good portion of the clay and grass swings after their victory in the Electrum Slam; Jana Arkinn and Myria Primarch qualified by the skin of their teeth after the withdrawal of the unquestionably better Mason and Maxine Woodmere. While Arkinn and Primarch did perform well at the Grand Slams, there is still a clear distinction in this group.

Semifinalists: Rentos/Zhuo, Zenteanite/Newham

Group Gwil/Conall
Unlike the last group in the doubles, this group is a big mess: Val Korekal and Luciano Crepaldi look good on paper, and indeed they held the world #1 position for much of the year, after a compelling performance on the outdoor hard courts; Nathan Bensaid and Kell Korden have performed well on Britonish soil this year, winning the Britonisean Open on grass; and Elia and Fia Xal just had a last-minute surge to qualify for this tournament, winning a gigantic match against Zenteanite and Newham in the final of the International Tennis Trophy, with their ranking underselling their potential performance here. Only Sibylla Naess and Timaeus Andersson seem like they are on the underside of this group, although they did win the Burnton Classic earlier in the year. But really, we can see anybody winning this group, potentially with even a cycle of 2-1 records.

Semifinalists: Bensaid/Korden, Xal/Xal

Quickenden hosts the first day of the NSTT Finals

Image
Court One at the Quickenden Tennis Complex: A picture of Court 1 at the Quickenden Tennis Centre last night before today's events...

The Quickenden Tennis Complex has been rather busy throughout the day as, across its three main courts, it hosts the Diamond Trophy.

Despite being held during a weekday, the three courts have so far been filled to the brim as the nation welcomes the nation's top tennis players for the NSTT Diamond Trophy. Some tickets are cheaper than The Britonish Open meaning that it is accessible to more people, alongside the QTC also invites school children to watch tennis in order to inspire them to play the sport. It has meant that on Day 1 of the Diamond Trophy, the stadiums are filled - giving these players audiences that they deserve for the tournament.

In terms of Britonish talent, Jason Gordon, Britonisea's number one player and currently ranked 11th (a career high for him) is seeded number one. Jason Gordon had a fantastic time at the International Tennis Trophy, making it to the final alongside his teammates where he was still able to win his match in the final tie. Overall, Gordon racked up the most points to propel himself into #1 seed for the tournament in Britonisea. In the competition, also is Ralph Newkarn who is the fifth highest ranked in the singles. Ralph Newkarn had a high rank this time last year, but now has the opportunity to catch up (a little bit but maybe not overall) with his rival Gordon. Ralph Newkarn has seemingly missed another opportunity to be the Year End Britonish number one which most definitely will fire him up ahead of Quickenden. Moreover, in the doubles, Ricardo Toli and Elizabeth Quehall is set to play - the bronze medallists at the Olympic Games. Ricardo Toli, who this time last year was rated in the Top 15 in the singles, has faded away. His partnership with Quehall was apparently on the rocks until they won a medal at the Olympic Games and while they were able to maintain their points over the grass season, they still have a lot of catching up to do compared to Newham, Zenteanite and Bensaid. Finally, Leone Na plays alongside Recuecn's Adelinde Gunther in a new partnership.

You will be able to catch the latest action live on BVC One throughout the day...

DIAMOND TROPHY-Quickenden - Britonisea

TENA ŠPIRIČIĆ TAVANO STILL GOT IT!

BY

IVAN JURLINA

Fantastic news coming to us from Quickenden. At the Diamond Trophy tournament, Tena Špiričić Tavano achieved victories in the singles competition as well as in the doubles competition with the fantastic Alina Koreleva.
After more than 200 days of absence from the tennis courts, both of our tennis players gained strength and knowledge and won their first matches.

Centre Court 6PM
Tena Špiričić Tavano (SRE) 6 3 6
Ralph Newkarn (BRI) 3 6 4

We cannot say that this match was full of high quality because there were a lot of unforced errors on both sides.
But we certainly can't even say that the match was bad, on the contrary, the match was good and there were several great rallyes with excellent tactical points.
Tena at the start, was not the one who imposed her game and Ralph Newkarn made a series of 0:3.
However, after the break, Tena goes on an incredible streak of 6 games in a row. Ralph Newkarn had 3:1, 40:30 for 4:1 but he nailed a smash into the net. He had a clear situation, a 100% chance to go 4:1, but he blew it. That one ball was the turning point. Ralph Newkarn got very annoyed with that error and then made a double fault.
However, Tena is experienced and she sensed the opponent's weakness and took advantage of it.
Tena hits the opponent with blow after blow and the game falls apart for the player from Britonesea.
The second set was much more even, Tena and Ralph finally gave the audience some real tennis. Powerful changes, runs to the net, the initial nervousness finally let them go.
Ralph Newkarn was more concentrated this time and after the 13th deuce, he finally made a break. That one break was enough to win the second set.
In the third set, Tena and Newkarn are in the starting positions, it is 1:1 in the sets.
At the beginning of the set, both don't want to take the risk because the stakes are high. Whoever makes more errors loses the set. However, Tena was the first to decide to take a little more risk and started to play more aggressively. After unforced error came a winner, until she stabilized her game.
Ralph Newkarn answered to that play too late. Simply Tena imposed the rhythm and the opponent needed time to adapt and respond.
Tena deservedly wins the third set and also the match.

"This was a difficult match for me. Physically I feel ok, but mentally I'm burnt out. But I'm certainly very happy that I won. This victory is very important for me for the confidence that I didn't really have in this match. I simply didn't know what to expect from myself. Congratulations Ralph Newkarn on a great game. I think it was a very good match. I thank all the spectators who came to watch the match. Thank them for that." Tena stated

REPORTER :The next opponent is Kora Sunder from Qasden. What can you tell us about her?

"I already said earlier that she is in great shape. Although she is a world number 50 player, she is a dangerous player. Simmons was knocked down but managed to wrestle away. Her tennis is fast, aggressive and doesn't give you much room to think. Sweep Andrew Simmons with 6:0 and at the same time you have a match point in the second set... that's not easy for anyone. I will have to prepare well. I believe that I will also be better than today because this was the first match after a long time."

After the first matches played, Lisicki's group, which includes our tennis player, looks like this:

Group Lisicki Pld W L PF PA
1 [2] Andrew Simmons (ETM) 1 1 0 2 1
Tena Špiričić Tavano (SRE) 1 1 0 2 1
3 Kora Sunder (QAD) 1 0 1 1 2
Ralph Newkarn (BRI) 1 0 1 1 2

DOUBLES
Court 2
Tena Špiričić Tavano/Alina Koreleva (SRE) 7 6
Tomás Nascimento/Duarte Cerqueira (ARC) 5 3

Much easier than expected, our tennis players won the doubles from Archalit, Tomás Nascimento and Duarte Cerqueira.
Although Tena had a singles match behind her that left a mark on her, it was not noticeable in this match. However, Alina Koreleva was the driving force in this match. And her play on net stands out in particular. In several crucial points, it was Alina who was the decisive player with that game.
Both of our tennis players served brilliantly and did not allow their opponents a chance to break, and they had 8 chances to break, but they used two.
A very important victory at the beginning of the tournament and our girls now have the opportunity to fight for the passage of the group.
In this group, Chandra Wiguna and Bruno Ayragadh, Pemecutan & Acastanha, with an almost identical score of 6-3,7-5, were better than the other double from Archalit, Mijaso Oyanari and Lukas Emery.
So they are together with our double at the top of the group.
The match between these two doubles is next on the schedule.

Group Parminus/Stratesimov Pld W D L PF PA

Dorotea Granit’s diary

Dear diary.

My weariness and strange mood persevere, and I still find myself deeply absorbed in my own reflections. Only now I can start to make out what flashes through my mind. I experience years in an instant, but every now and then time slows down and allows me a glimpse of what has been. What appears before me is often the faces of all the people I have mistreated over the years. Wandering through my memories I realize that I have been cruel, mean, and petty. I have spent the last couple of days trying to identify this thing weighing me down, and I now understand it to be a wave of regret and shame washing over me. I am steeped in sorrow and remorse, and it is a novel sensation. I keep thinking of all the young players I have conquered, showing no grace in triumph, and offering them no guidance or help. I see now that what I have always viewed as insular superiority has always only been a shell covering up my own insecurities and vulnerabilities. I have worked hard to construct walls around my heart, to protect myself. These structures have only served to isolate me from true understanding and empathy, and I keep reliving all those instances of taunting and psychological torture I have inflicted upon so many, be it through letter form of to their faces. I shudder. My mind keeps wandering and showing me all the relationships I have willfully destroyed over the years. Can a person change? I wonder if tennis has done this to me, or if this is just who I am. I think of Fredrik and how I never ever offered him any words of encouragement when he had trouble performing. I only looked upon him with judgement, branding him as weak; I even said it to his face. I never reached out after he sustained that knee-injury that ended his career. I think of Arne. That lost soul. You can tell he is hurting after both Tangeus and Georg are gone. I think of Georg. I think of how I have spent years fermenting the most fervent of hate towards that man. I think about how no one else have ever been able to evoke that sheer volume of emotions within me. But when I think of him now, there is no fire of hate burning deep, but rather an impenetrable sadness and longing. I have come to realize that I miss him.

Balance Result In the First Day of End of The Year Competition

Quickenden, Britonisea - In the NSTT Finals, both Pemecutanian players failed to impress as they both loss from their opponents. In Group Foyner, Indah Susanti met Cenian player, Lonus Varalin. Lead the match in the first set, Susanti failed to maintain her performance in the second set. While Varalin on the other hand gained his confidence over the course of the second set. And his win brings him to ultimate confidence. This resulting in Varalin controlling the third set right from the start. Susanti unable to expand her playing style and keep under Varalin's shadow. She could only steal 2 games before surrender by 6-2.

A similar faith was faced by Adrian Putra as he plays against Ardil Navsal, also from Ceni, in Group Sabanero. Playing intensely in the first set, Adrian Putra have to admit Navsal's superiority as he surrenders 6-4 from him. In the second set, Adrian Putra turn the table and control the match right from the start. He did corner Navsal so the Cenian player unable to improve his play. The tactic was a success, Adrian Putra stays longer as he took the second set by 6-2. Entering the third set was a disaster for Adrian Putra. Using the same tactic, he thought he would still be able to control the match. But Navsal had seen his weak point. The Cenian player keep pushing on that point several times which made Adrian Putra made several unforced errors. These situations give a lot of advantage to Navsal as he wins game after game. Feeling frustrated, Adrian Putra made his own errors without even being triggered by Navsal's shots. He tries to regain his sense during the game's break. But it didn't work. Navsal finally took the third set by 6-3 and claim his victory.

Different results happen in Diamond Trophy. At Group Quiront/Garzala, Antari/Andreawati were facing Archalit pair, Sora Alya/Yashiro Toshiro. The match getting so intense as it ended in three sets with tie breaks in all set. The young pair, Alya/Toshiro proof that they can deal with the more experienced Antari/Andreawati. But the Pemecutanian pair still have their secret tactics especially in a crucial point. Antari/Andreawati ended the match with a victory of 7-6, 5-7 and 7-6.

It's really great to face them. Great match, great performance. They could make a better run in the future, and we have to keep an eye on their progress. Nevertheless, we're glad that we can win. Something that we somehow not quite sure until the last minute.

Kadek Andreawati

On the other group, Chandra Wiguna/Bruno Ayragadh also success to win their first match against another Archalit double pair, Mijaso Oyanari/Lukas Emery. Wiguna/Ayragadh somehow lead the first set quite easily as Oyanari/Emery still try to adjust themselves with the court. The situation was taken into advantage by the PCU/ACS pair to gain one by one point until they win game after game. Oyanari/Emery gives their resistance late in the match. But they are surely able to make difficult for the mixed pair. In the end, Wiguna/Ayragadh success to win the set by 6-3. In the second set, the fierier Oyanari/Emery gives their resistance towards the mixed pair. The match went tightly as both pair win the game interchangeably. The situation become intense when the match reach 5-5 deuce. Luckily, Wiguna/Ayragadh was able to handle the critical situation. They steal the next two games and confirmed their victory.

The balance result of two wins and two defeats brings a mixed feeling towards tennis fans. The fans surely want their idol players to win the NSTT Finals to replicate the success reached by Ngurah Putra Muliawan in Season 6. But with the early defeat, the road to the knockout stage will be very difficult. While in the Diamond Trophy, the fans place their hope high for the players. This can be seen from the comments on the PTA official's social media who shared the result of the competition in their latest post. The post was full of fans comments who pray for the players success and praise their great performance. But can they really fulfill the fans dream? Let's find out in the second match day of End of the Year Competitions of NSTT Finals and The Diamond Trophy.

DIAMOND TROPHY-Quickenden - Britonisea

GIRLS WITH ONE FOOT IN QUARTERFINALS!

BY

IVAN JURLINA

Dear viewers welcome to the show "IT'S TENNIS TIME"!
For all of you who didn't followed the broadcasting from Quickenden, Tena Špiričić Tavano win in second single match in the group as well as in the second match at doubles with Alina Koreleva.
These two wins pushing them toward to the quarterfinals door!

Tena Špiričić Tavano (SRE) 6 4 7
Kora Sunder (QAD) 1 6 5

Tena Špiričić Tavano in the double match program today. After playing doubles with Alina Koreleva, she had to play a single match on the center court.
She didn't have too much time to rest.
Kora Sunder from Qasden is a great tennis player who has the potential to be even better. She showed it in the first match against Andrew Simmons.
Our tennis player is very aware of this and in yesterday's conversation she had only words of praise and respect for her's today opponent.
Tena started strongly, moving great and with blasting winners she threw her opponent out of the balance. Very soon our player came to the lead 5:0. Kora managed to win one game to the end of the set.
Statistics at the end of the set are impressive for Tena with 12 AS services and 23 Winners but also only 8 unforced errors.
In the second set she took 3-0 lead and stopped. She slowly began to be late for the opponent's balls, she was seen to be no freshness. Kora Sunder felt that Tena was physically in a more unfavorable situation, so she got build her confidence, accelerated the game on her part, and by the end of the set she allowed Tena only one game.
In the third set, Tena changes the tactic. She tryed play more to the net to prevent long points and long rallyes from the basic line.
Kora Sunder tried to impose her game, but Tena is too expensive to give up her game. The set was tense to the very end, but our tennis player managed to make a break and get a match.

"A great match was behind me. I passed another difficult exam. I think I'm on the right track again. After a doubles match, I felt good all the way to the middle of the second set. Then I just started to feel the lack of freshness and strength. I had to change the rhythm of the game, tactics, everything I knew in my tennis book I had to use. In the end, based on the experience of playing big matches, I was able to win. Kora Sunder has progressed in its game and it can be seen very much. I'm glad I was able to win and the quarterfinals are very close. " Tena stated

Tena took the lead in the Lisicki group after Ralph Newkarn was easily than we expected defeat Andrew Simmons. Ralph Newkarn played a great match and did not allow to the Electrum player to havea single opportunity to break.

As mentioned before, Tena was successful in doubles as well. Partnering with Alina Koreleva has played one of the best matches in all season and girls beat the fourth seeds Chadra Wiguna and Bruno Ayragadh of Pemecutan and Acastanha.
Our tennis players were very soild at their service and didn't allow break oportunity to the opponents.

"Before the match, we studied the opponent well and agreed tactics. I 'm glad that we were able to do it on court. We played great and lost very little points at our service, which shaken their confidence." said Alina Koreleva

The girls have taken the lead on the table and are now waiting for the outcome in the group. They have another match left.

The Turnip: We're Cusping Here
by Billiam Maskey, chief-editor-in-chief

It's the latest teen craze that is making the entire country go nuts -- cusping.

What is cusping? Well just like planking, Harlem shaking, ice bucketing and Ceniing, it is a trend that first went viral on social media. It is essentially making life more difficult for yourself by, for example, deliberately losing a match in the Season 9 Finals in Britonisea, therefore making the third and last match the most important because you are 'on the cusp'. Teenagers deliberately recorded themselves doing things like tripping down stairs on purpose or trying to last the longest without breathing.

This exhausting yet exhilarating way to play has been created as a way to inject some excitement for the audience and for the tennis players who live soulless, gloomy lives with nothing to do for fun except to play tennis.

This trend swept over the entire Electrumite team with all Electrumite players sitting on a one win, one loss record heading into the third and final matchday. The heads of the Electrum Lawn Tennis Association rubbed their hands with glee because this outcome would ensure that every match in Britonisea was a must-win.

Marcus Hathwar was one of those players on the cusp. In an interview after his three-set thriller loss against Abelie Fontana he said, "It's really good to lose as a personal character development. This would totally be a key scene if they did a movie about my life, I would then go on to bounce back and win the Diamond Trophy. And if I do eventually become the world's most famous tennis player, I would like to fund a movie about my life. I'd like to see Lonus Varalin play me because his grunts are a good impression of what I'm like in bed. And I'd like to have Dorotea Granit as my writer because she's always scribbling in her diary and she knows what it's like to play tennis at a high level like mine."

The only thing sweeter than a turnip is winning, Let's hope all of our athletes make it all in one piece and win their next matches. We're a nation of winners after all, not a nation of losers like the Electrum Diplomatic Offices.

Dorotea Granit’s diary

Dear diary.

I have made a decision. At the conclusion of this year’s season, I am retiring from professional tennis. It’s the only thing that makes sense. I have decided to travel down to The Vatmark in search of Georg. When I find him, I am going to ask him to marry me. I realize now that I love him, and that I always have.

Press conference with Elia and Fia Xal — transcript

Q1: How does it feel to go 0-2 in the first two matches here at the NSTT Finals as the defending champion?
EX: Oh, God, now thinking about it, I know why Lonus [Varalin] hates answering this question. I mean, look at us. We don't look happy. We look tired, fatigued. It was really great for us to win the International Tennis Trophy and come into this tournament with some momentum, so of course it's disappointing that we can't make our momentum go any further in this tournament.

FX: But let's face it. These are the best doubles teams in the world. We are never guaranteed to win any match. Look at Johmer [Vales]: He won against Dewa Putu Adrian Putra, if I managed to pronounce that correctly, in the semifinals over in Prescott.

EX: Or was it Somer? Nobody can really remember.

FX: And now he lost here in Quickenden. To the same player, on largely similar courts. So you really have to cut us a break here! We can't be on 100% of the time.

Q2: Are you considering retirement after these devastating results?
FX: I mean, I know that's a tempting question to ask, especially given the unverified rumours that Dorotea Granit will retire at the end of this tournament, but I can't say that's something that even crossed my mind. If we won the Cenian Open next season —

EX, laughing — a doubtful proposition —

FX: We might retire then, going out on a high and letting ourselves define our exit rather than having our exit define us, that would be nice. But I don't think a couple of lousy matches at one tournament is something that can seriously start a serious conversation about retirement.

EX: I mean, we haven't even won a career grand slam, and we were oh-so-close to adding the Olympic gold medal to our collection! So we have to try for that again next year as well.

Q3: Do losing streaks like this ever cause strains in your sisterly relationship?
EX: Wow, sisterly, that's a word that I probably never would have used on my own.

FX: Of course, I think any rational human being would get tired of being with their sibling for months on end, traveling all over the world, being in the same hotel room. And certainly, when we're not doing well, it does start to add questions in your mind, questions about whether this partnership is really something that can last another year. I mean, I'm surprised that there aren't more doubles partnership breakups, to be honest.

EX: Of course, Coosal [Darlcheri] and Gyrachor [Rentos] split up. But they were married to each other, and that's really a different animal.

FX: Is it, though? Marriage is family you choose, sisterhood is blood family. But regardless, we're together in sickness and in health, six ways from Sunday, no different than Coosal and Gyrachor. But I must admit that it certainly did them well. Gyrachor is probably the best player in the doubles game right now.

EX: I mean, to get back to answering the question, I don't think either of us wants to "divorce" each other. And we really haven't had any major rows yet, so that's probably for the better.

Q4: Who do you think stands the best chance of winning the doubles tournament so far? Do you think we'll get a guaranteed Cenian doubles champion?

FX: I'm not quite ready to bet the prize money on their being a guaranteed Cenian doubles champion right now. I mean, it looks that way right now.

EX: But you never know what Margaret will send our way on this final day of group stage matches.

FX: Of course, I just said that Gyrachor Rentos was the best player in the doubles game right now, so I'd have to go with Rentos and Zhuo, even despite losing their first match. I'd say that they are doing pretty well in my book.

EX: But Margaret.

FX: Yeah.

EX: I'd go with Val [Korekal] and Luciano Crepaldi right now. They look hot, in more ways than one. But I think they have a chance to take on everybody and come out the victor. I really do.

Audiences at the Britonish-hosted Season 9 Finals have been rather let down by the performances of the big names in Britonish tennis especially by the Britonish duo, Jaguar Zenteanite and Zeke Newham, who are not only the Olympic Champions but the champions of the Mercedinian Open - the last Grand Slam of the tennis year. Unfortunately, in this competition, it looks highly likely that they will not qualify through the group stage after beating defeated twice so far in their group despite having the second-highest rank in the competition. While their match against Rentos/Zhuo, the number 1s, was an expected defeat, their match against Zapfe/Iegis saw them hardly get a game in. The Britonish pair however have been working excessively hard and are still due to play in the upcoming IBA Championships which begins in Pemecutan in a week. Perhaps the pair are starting to slow down ahead of the Cenian Open - a tournament in which Britons never seem to have any success. Regardless, no one can take away the fact that the Britonish pair have done a lot this year, it is just a shame they aren't able to complete the year on a high...

BY

IVAN JURLINA

Dear viewers welcome to the show "IT'S TENNIS TIME"!
Great news coming to us from Quickenden! Tena Špiričić Tavano will play two quarterfinals at this tournament, in singles and doubles with the great Alina Korelev. In singles, Tena achieved her third victory in the group.
Andrew Simmons is the second seed of the tournament and it was expected that he would also play in the quarterfinals, but that was not the case. The season was obviously long from the big player from Electrum.
With the best game in the tournament so far, Tena won quite convincingly with 6-1 and 7-5!
In the doubles match, Alina and Tena achieved their third victory in the group. this time our girls were better than Mijaso Oyanari and Lukas Emery from Archail with a score of 6-4 and 6-3!

Once again, Tena will comment on this tournament and the season in general.
Tena, welcome back to our studio.

TENA: thank you for the invitation and I'm always happy to answer hehe

JURLINA: true. We are grateful for that. Here, all the matches in the group are over. You played your best in these last matches. Does this mean that you are slowly returning to the paths of glory.

TENA: haha I'm glad that I'm getting better from match to match and my play is constantly growing. However, I think it is still too early to talk about returning to the form from the beginning of the season. I don't think I'm at that level yet, but I'm certainly on the right track.

JURLINA: This season, NSTT experienced several shaky situations, we would say. First the whole situation with us and then the departure of several great players like Arne and Georg. And yesterday we were all shocked by Dorotea Granit's announcement.

TENA : yes, true tennis fans can feel sorry for Arne and Georg. I was happy to play against them . Leo and Goran had really epic matches against them. I must admit that I am sad for Dorotea Granit. She is a great girl, she has given a lot to the world of tennis. I appreciate and respect her a lot, regardless of the fact that we were rivals on the court, but I think that NSTT will be greatly impoverished by her absence. I believe that she still has a lot to give to tennis. However, I understand her. There is also life outside the tennis courts. If she wants to experience that aspect of life, I support her in that. Absolutely. As a colleague, I can express regret about "goodbye to tennis", and as a woman, as a person, as someone who got married this year, I support her to settle down, to love and to be loved.

JURLINA: You said this very nicely. Of course, Dorotea Granit is a big name in world of tennis and these three big names will surely be missed, but some other names also appeared on the big stage. Alina is definitely one of those names that paved the way to the top.
Alina, how do you feel now after these three matches?

ALINA: well, I'm very happy and satisfied that Tena and I made it to the quarterfinals. If someone had offered it to us before the tournament, we would have signed.
We haven't played competitive matches for a long time. It's different when you play in training or sparring, and it's a completely different story when you're in a tournament.

JURLINA : but the season for you two does not end with this tournament as far as I know. The IBA Championship competition awaits you. What do you expect there?

TENA: yes, it's a completely new competition. The first edition of the IBA Championship had no tennis in the repertoire at all. This year, tennis is among the sports that will be. I will perform as here, in singles, womens doubles and mixed competition. We still don't have all the tennis names that will perform, but it will certainly be a new challenge for me.

ALINA: I am absolutely looking forward to that competition. The two of us always hope to get to the end when we play. It would be great to get a medal.

JURLINA : Did you get to watch the NSTT Finals?

TENA : I managed to take a look at some of the matches and the results. Xander Foyner-Evatee is playing fantastic, actually he continuing his great performances this season. Ardil Navsal is standard at the top, but I wouldn't write off Lonus Varalin and Dewa Putu Adrian Putra lightly. Dewa Putu Adrian Putra performed brilliantly in the group matches by defeating Janet Riley. It will certainly be very interesting.

ALINA : Yes, I agree. It will be very interesting in doubles as well. Gyrachor Rentos/Sara Zhuo were surprisingly eliminated from the tournament as well as Jaguar Zenteanite/Zeke Newham.
It is Jaguar Zenteanite/Zeke Newham from Britonise that we will also see at the IBA Championship. Val Korekal/Luciano Crepaldi managed to pass as second place in the group behind Sibylla Naess/Timaeus Andersson.
A very interesting and open competition.

JURLINA : Girls, thank you for comming here and talking to us. Once again, I heartily congratulate you on your successful return to the tennis tour and your winns. I hope that they will manage to go as far as possible and maybe even to the very end.

In NSTT Finals, Dewa Putu Adrian Putra became the sole Pemecutanian player to advance further. Facing Janet Riley of Electrum, Adrian Putra controlled their match right from start. Riley was unable to develop her playing style and keep under Adrian Putra's shadow. He won the first set by 6-0. Riley tries to break away from Adrian Putra's shadow in the second set. But despite she was able to challenge Adrian Putra's superiority, she still unable to turn back the situation. Adrian Putra's claim the victory by winning the second set with 6-2. Finished at second in his group, Adrian Putra claim one spot in the semifinal of NSTT Finals. On the other hand, Indah Susanti was no match to Cenian current world number 1 player, Xander Foyner-Evatee. Win the first set after a tight tie-break, Susanti unable to keep her performance in the next 2 sets. It leaves Foyner-Evatee took control of the match. He won the match after win the second and third set by 6-2 and 6-3. Susanti ended in the third place of Group Foyner and failed to advance.

While in Diamond Trophy, Pemecutan pair, Komang Antari/Kadek Andreawati surprisingly lose to Qasdenian pair, Megan Ives/Edsan Gallagher in 3 sets match. Antari/Andreawati can only win the first set by 6-4. They unable to perform the similar way in the next two sets. The pair keep making unforced errors which given advantage to Ives/Gallagher. And in the third set, Ives/Gallagher was already outperformed Antari/Andreawati. Despite the Pemecutanian pair try to turn the situation, they failed to keep their performance and still making unforced errors here and there. Despite the loss, the pair finished as the leader of their group thanks to their win against Recuecn pair because both pairs have the same result. On the other hand, mixed pair Chandra Wiguna/Bruno Ayragadh lose to Archalit pair, Tomás Nascimento/Duarte Cerqueira. Winning the first set by 6-4, the pair was struggle in the second set. Nascimento/Cerqueira played hard to level their playing with WIguna/Ayragadh. And they success to do it. Pushing for tie-break and finally win it was a blow to Wiguna/Ayragadh. It can clearly be seen in the third set where Wiguna/Ayragadh were not performed as well as their previous 2 sets. Their confidence was crushed after the lost in the second set's tie-break. They lost 6-2 in the third set and give the victory to the Archalit pair. Despite losing, Wiguna/Ayragadh finished second in their group and still qualify to the knockout stage. Ironically, they will meet Antari/Andreawati in the quarterfinal. Nevertheless, this meeting means that Pemecutan secure one place in semifinal either from Antari/Andreawati or from mixed pair, Wiguna/Ayragadh.

WHO IS CLOSEST TO THE CAREER GRAND SLAM? A LOOK

After chatter on cica.da, Honkr, Chirpr, deja.vu, and other social media sites that have sprung up after the fall of twii.tur — who can keep track any more? — Break Point decided to take a look at the archives to see who has come the closest to achieving the Career Grand Slam. Spoiler alert? Gyrachor Rentos and Ronya have all won three of four Grand Slams... although it's anyone's guess whether they'll be able to get the Grand Slam in the near future. After all, it's been nine seasons, and nobody's gotten it yet. Will the tenth time be the charm?

Anyway, let's dig in for the full list:

T1. Gyrachor Rentos (CEN) (3/4)
Hard 1: Cenian Open (S7)
Hard 2: Electrum Slam (S7)
Clay: Astyrian Slam (S3)
Grass:
Bonus: NSTT Finals (S7), ITT (S9)

T1. Sonya Gredello/Rosa Levinsky (ETM/ETM)
Hard 1: Cenian Open (S1)
Hard 2: Electrum Slam (S1, S2)
Clay:
Grass: AOpen (S6)
Bonus: Olympic Gold Medal (too many to count)

T3. Elia Xal/Fia Xal (CEN/CEN)
Hard 1: Cenian Open (S2, S4)
Hard 2:
Clay:
Grass: Mercedinian Open (S7)
Bonus: NSTT Finals (S8), ITT (S7, S9)

T3. Sara Zhuo (ETM)
Hard 1: Cenian Open (S7)
Hard 2: Electrum Slam (S7)
Clay:
Grass:
Bonus: NSTT Finals (S7)

T3. Birger Gwil/Hermanni Conall (FCF/FCF)
Hard 1: Cenian Open (S5)
Hard 2:
Clay: Terranean Slam (S5)
Grass:
Bonus:

T3. Camille Fournier/Inès Fournier (RCN/RCN)
Hard 1: Electrum Slam (S6)
Hard 2:
Clay: Beçonailles (S9)
Grass:
Bonus:

T3. Jaguar Zenteanite/Zeke Newham (BRI/BRI)
Hard 1:
Hard 2:
Clay: Beçonailles (S7)
Grass: Mercedinian Open (S9)
Bonus:

T3. Botack Andiam (CEN)
Hard 1:
Hard 2:
Clay: Astyrian Slam (S3)
Grass: AOpen (S3)
Bonus:

T3. Ardil Navsal (CEN)
Hard 1: Cenian Open (S4, S9)
Hard 2:
Clay: Astyrian Slam (S4)
Grass:
Bonus: Olympic Gold Medal (XVII); ITT (S7, S9)

T3. Bartolo Sabanero (AQL)
Hard 1:
Hard 2:
Clay: Hamilton International (S6)
Grass: AOpen (S6)
Bonus:

T3. Georg Heraklit (PUG)
Hard 1: Electrum Slam (S8)
Hard 2:
Clay: Beçonailles (S8)
Grass:
Bonus:

So, what are some patterns or fun facts that we can glean from all this data?
  • There are only ten players with more than one Grand Slam behind their belts.
  • Nearly all of the two-Slam winners got their Grand Slams in the same season. The only exceptions are the Fournier siblings and Jaguar Zenteanite and Zeke Newham (who are just that good) and Ardil Navsal (who won two Cenian Opens in separate years, although his victories in Season 4 solidify the point rather than undermine it.
  • Ronya and Gyrachor Rentos, the only three players with three out of the four Grand Slams to their name, have been around since the pre-reboot NSTT, indicating that longevity is needed rather than just pure skill.
  • Out of the two-Grand-Slam winners, only three did not win a hard court slam: Bartolo Sabanero, Botack Andiam, and Zenteanite/Newham. Sabanero and Andiam players also were the only two players to win both the clay court and the hard court slams in the same season, and three out of the six players on this list (also including the Fournier siblings and Georg Heraklit) not to win a Cenian Open.
  • Indeed, a Cenian Open was the most common Slam to win on this list, perhaps a testament to the fact that it has been around the longest on the NSTT circuit.
  • One could argue that Birger Gwil and Hermanni Conall could have won the Career Grand Slam, and, indeed, the calendar year Grand Slam, if not for the disintegration of the first iteration of the NSTT in the middle of Season 5. They had won the first two slams of the year that season.
  • Ronya and Ardil Navsal are the two entrants to add an Olympic Gold Medal to their cabinets among our top ten entrants. Indeed, the Olympic Games have hardly been a guaranteed victory for tennis players, with Ronya the only pairing in NSTT history to win the gold medal in their respective event more than once.

Who are the candidates to get to the Career Grand Slam the first, then? There are a couple of suspects...
  1. Gyrachor Rentos appears to be the best positioned player, having already won the Electrum Slam (a slam where Margaret seems to run wild) and a clay court slam (therefore avoiding the need to win the Beçonailles, another Slam where Margaret[ rules). That leaves the Mercedinian Open, an eminently possible Slam...
  2. Ronya are the second closest, but their missing slam? The very same Beçonailles. Then again, they just might be able to pull it off given that they are the underdogs, and, boy do those fans in Reçueçn love the underdogs...
  3. Rounding out our Top 3, we'd probably bet on Ardil Navsal. He needs the Electrum Slam and the Mercedinian Open; we put him above the Xals because, let's face it, the Xals will never have fan support in Centralis, and Sara Zhuo will probably have an uphill battle at the Beçonailles. By process of elimination, that gives us... Navsal! Yeah, we're real confident here (well, we're definitely confident that it will take Navsal more than one season to pull off the Career Grand Slam.
  4. An honourable mention is Jaguar Zenteanite and Zeke Newham: They certainly are one of the favourites to win the next Cenian Open and, well, that one seems like the easiest one to win...

So, there you have it: the players closest to winning a Career Grand Slam, and the players who we think are most likely to get their soonest.

Oh, what's that? Do we think that any player, ever, will get the Calendar Year Grand Slam?

Absolutely not.

The NSTT is just too multipolar.

DIAMOND TROPHY-Quickenden - Britonisea

TWO SEMIES AT DIAMOND TROPHY!

BY

IVAN JURLINA

Dear viewers, welcome to the show "IT'S TENNIS TIME!"
Fantastic news comes to us with the Diamond Trophy! Tena Špričić Tavano reached her 41st career win at NSTT competitions in singles and reached the semi-finals of the tournament!
She repeated the same semi-final feat in the doubles competition partnering Alina Koreleva.

Tena Špiričić Tavano (SRE) 6 4 6
Davi Malakkar (ACS) 2 6 4

In the match against Davi Malakkar from Acastanha, Tena had to learn a bitter lesson again, it's over when the referee says "game, set and match"!
Our tennis player had everything in her hands, game, precision, the whole situation was on her side in the first set.
Malakkar tried to push Tena out of her comfort zone by changing the rhythm, but he failed. Tena easily reached 6-2 in the first set.
In the second set, she led 3-0 and when we all thought that was it, she towards to the end of the match, Tena slowed down the rhythm and Davi Malakkar took advantage of that.
Soon the player from Acastanha imposed his game, his rhythm and Tena started to lose herself. Her game is slowly but surely falling apart. She was mentally sinking and her's body language says it all.
Malakkar strangely returned to the match and won the second set with 6-4!
In the third set, Tena regained her composure and started to play her game again, but Malakkar on the other side of the net did not let herself be distracted.
Point by point, both players tried to be as aggressive and precise as possible.
But in the end, Tena was the one who is a bit better at this moment and made it to her new big semi-final of the season.
41 wins at NSTT competitions and 19 losses is her record. Jubilee 60th match.

"I didn't need this in my life, this drama I was going through. All kinds of things were going through my head. Davi came back great in the match and almost beat me. The hardest match is yet to come, Jason Gordon, the first seed of the tournament. The local tennis player, he has a motive more because he is playing in front of the home crowd, he is definitely the favorite in this match," said Tena after the match

Since they started playing tennis together in doubles competition, Tena and Alina have had a lot of success. However, they have never gone all the way in any NSTT tournament. They had two finals and four semi-finals, and they won match for the fifth semi-final against first seeds Inès and Camille Fournier of Recuecn!
Fournier's are a top tennis duo and they are the top seeds of the tournament. Our girls haven't played for a long time, but in this tournament it doesn't even feel like that.
Again a similar situation as in the singles match of Tena Špiričić Tavano. Absolute dominance in the first set and then saving his head in the remaining two sets! However, after a frantic fight, our girls managed to finish the job in their favor.

Tena Špiričić Tavano/Alina Koreleva (SRE) 6 4 7
[1] Inès Fournier/Camille Fournier (RCN) 2 6 5

"This is a great success for us. I don't know how we won at all. Tena played a singles match and then this one. We have played against the top seed's of the tournament, but we showed the character. We are going to a new semi-final. It will be of course a tough challenge again, Komang Antari and Kadek Andreawati from Pemecutan are in good series. I hope we will have enough freshness for this match," Alina stated after the match

Dear viewers, stay with our program because the semi-finals will be playing today. We are hope, but also believe, that one of our players will be watching in the final.
