Name of Participating Country: The Republic of The Tsunterlands

Name of Nominated Song:Laslâe Urar Bàlar (We Will Be Ok)

Name of Artist:
Annēllis and her Togas
Image

Genre of song:
Indie Pop, New Cruise

Describe the song (you may ALSO link a real-life song as a reference to the general vibe):
(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kdWMMB1p7DQ). Laslâe Urar Bàlar is a power anthem which focuses on themes of a holding onto to the good things during the difficult times. Within the song, the singer promises her lover that their romance will survive despite recent troubles in their relationship. Recordings of temple bells, complimented with a synthesizer, contribute to the song's expansive and ethereal atmosphere. The verses are sung in a hushed tone, establishing a feeling of intimacy, vulnerability and introspection. This is contrasted with the intense chorus, with have an anthemic quality to them and giving the song is emotional crescendo.

Describe the artist's performance:
Annēllis' performance of Laslâe Urar Bàlar is stripped back and minimalistic, as she relies on the power of her own voice to carry the song. She appears on stage in a red and white gown and sings into a wireless microphone. Initially she does not move much however as the song reaches the first chorus her gown falls away to reveal a tighter dark red outfit that allows for more freedom of movement. Her dancing could then be politely described as extremely "free-style" most comprising of her energetically jumping up and down and flicking her hair back and forth during the instrumental sections of song. Crimson and gold spotlight's streak across the stage attempting to give the impression of fire.

Why was this song chosen to represent your country?
Although economically prosperous and politically stable, there is at present a huge feeling of insecurity in the Tsunterlands caused by international events. The recent war in Iersheno, the civil war in neighbouring Vacrus, instability in Gael and the rise of Authoritarian Throngism has caused great concern in the Tsunterlands. However this has also been time of tremedous unity within the Tsunterlands, as the country has a broad degree of consensus about how to tackle these challenges. Although Laslâe Urar Bàlar is not explicitly political, it is hoped that it will resonate both with Tsunters and with much of the rest of the Western Isles, reminding them that by being united the audience can survive the oncoming troubles.

Why was this artist chosen to perform this song?
Annēllis and her Togas is a fairly underground Avant-guard pop artist focusing in "New Cruise" a unique genre of music originated from the Tsunterlands which grew in popularity in the 2010s and is seen as a revival of 1960s "cruise" music, again originating from the Tsunterlands. Annēllis and her Togas was therefore chosen due to her genre's unique connecting to the music scene of the Tsunterlands.

Name of proposed host country?
Republic of the Tsunterlands

Name of proposed Venue?
Anílí Ana Arena

Location of the Venue?
Ba Barōssa

Proposed budget for hosting the contest?
20 Million IAD

Capacity of proposed venue?
18,000

Why should this venue be chosen to host the Islevision Song Contest?
Anílí Ana Arena has long been one of the premier music venues of Argus and has a proven track record of being able to host events similar to IsleVision, its modern and cutting-edge sound and lighting systems guarantees a world-class production quality.
The arena's adaptable layout allows for creative and dynamic stage designs. Islevision’s unique and diverse performances will be complemented by the flexibility of Anílí Ana Arena, ensuring the environment will be match to the desire requests of the performers.

Why should this city be chosen to host the Islevision Song Contest?
Situated on the Mesder Riviera, Ba Barōssa is a major summer tourist spot, with its population swelling by tens of thousands during peak tourism months. Thus, the city is well-prepared for a sudden influx of arrivals being well-supplied with hotels and restaurants catering to international tastes. It also has some of the best public transport infrastructure the Tsunterlands has to offer. As the contest takes place in winter, the city has plenty of capacity spare to accept those coming to the contest and the hosting the contest will provide employment to thousands usually only employed seasonally. Its airport, Ba Barōssa International, flies to all corners of the Western Isles meaning attendees will have no trouble coming to the event.

Are there any ongoing issues that could either prevent the Isle Song Contest from occurring or endanger attendees if it does occur?
Unlikely chance that ongoing instability in neighbouring Vacrus could endanger travel to the Ba Barōssa.

Note: I will choose the host based on the best application. I will not choose my own (unless no others are submitted), consider it just a guide to the kind of factors the host country might want to consider.

Name of Participating Country: Rhu T'aazi hu Remodio

Name of Nominated Song: The Remodin National Anthem (Rhu Iḍeestuu hu Remodio)

Name of Artist: Corii Aamdu

Genre of song: Performed as country folk

Describe the song (you may ALSO link a real-life song as a reference to the general vibe): Woody Guthrie vibes, the Remodion National Anthem is generally a hymnal march type song but Corii is putting a folk-country twist on it after that genre has become more popular in the country. The Remodin National Anthem is about unity in times of strife. No matter the difficulty, the Chuuṣoostee people have prevailed and will prevail. The song, translated to English, sings that despite the waves, the beaches of Tachile stay graceful.

Describe the artist's performance: Corii's performance is simple. He wears traditional Remodin clothing and a cowboy hat. He performs sitting on a stool in front of a mic with his guitar. His performance is completely acoustic, and he relies on his deep, smooth voice to wow the crowd, with some parts of the song having no instrumental at all. Corii sings with pride and intensity, and alternates between Chuuṣoostee and English for the verses to demonstrate the pride he has in his culture. He'll often incorporate some percussion by tapping on his guitar or encouraging the crowd to clap on beat.

Why was this song chosen to represent your country? Corii chose the national anthem because he feels like Chuuṣoostee culture isn't well known around the Western Isles. He wants TWI to know that Remodio is a proud nation despite its troubles. He wants to motivate listeners to look into Chuuṣoostee history and culture.

Why was this artist chosen to perform this song? He performed the anthem to the Remodin Legislature before a session, and quickly became a national icon because of his deep voice. He soon began performing for sporting events and music festivals throughout Remodio, becoming the most popular artist in the country at age 26.

Name of Participating Country: The People's Republic of Mardio

Name of Nominated Song: My Feet are Free

Name of Artist: Obsor Imben

Genre of song: Folk

Describe the song (you may ALSO link a real-life song as a reference to the general vibe): General Vibe "My Feet are Free" is a folk song performed on the Mardian guitar by Obsor Imben while he performs as the solo vocalist. This song tells a semi-autobiographical account of Obsor Imben's youth as a traveling musician before his mandatory military service. The chorus ends with the titular phrase "My Feet are Free" and is easy for audiences to sing along to after hearing it once.

Describe the artist's performance: Imben's voice is deep and cracked with age, yet is still able to sound hauntingly beautiful. He sits alone on stage left, a light illuminating him in such a way that you only see his hands plucking at his guitar. He involves the audience in the performance by remaining silent at the very end of the final chorus, letting them sing "My Feet are Free."

Why was this song chosen to represent your country? This song was chosen as its references to self-determination as well as duty to your common man were seen as representing Mardio's political and cultural ideals. The song has a distinctly political flair, yet its message is broad enough to not alienate audiences that do not agree with Mardian politics. There's a youthful rebelliousness to the whole thing that is relatable to most anyone.

Why was this artist chosen to perform this song? Obsor Imben has long been a popular musician in Mardio, though because of certain political policies his music has not reached many audiences outside of Mardio. His father was also a famous revolutionary fighter. Imben has publicly stated that this performance will be his final live performance.

Name of Participating Country: Throngist Republic of Lesva

Name of Nominated Song: Summer Rain

Name of Artist: Gavi Savar

Genre of song: Retrowave-influenced pop song

Describe the song (you may ALSO link a real-life song as a reference to the general vibe): The vibe of the song would this. The song is a euphoric pop song largely reliant on the artist's vocals leading the entire song, while the instrumental part is for the flavor and the creation of atmosphere. The lyrics are about the cozy feeling of standing in the rain during a warm summer evening and listening to the drops hitting the ground. The lyrics describe how the rain refreshes the body and the soul, while also adding parts about the main joys of life being love, together, unity and peace. Peace is added to the song in a form of a metaphor and not directly, as the singer talks about a flock of white doves flying through the rain. Some of the song's lyrical content promotes values projected by the Throngist ideology that Lesva is ruled under in its' totalitarian dictatorship.

Describe the artist's performance: Soothing voice and a performance, which includes calm and appropriate, but also soothing body language accustomed with the song's style. The performer is wearing the clothing presently common for males in Throngist Lesva - double pressed, long, black, knee-length coat, two rows of large buttons at the front, alongside two side pockets, paired with dark denim and leather boots. On the left side of the chest, the singer is wearing pins of the national flag of the Throngist Republic of Lesva and the ruling Throngist Movement Party of Lesva side by side. Identical clothing and pins are also worn by back-up vocalists and instrumentalists, who have a smaller role in the song, but are present on stage behind the singer, representing the Throngist ideology's promotion of collectivism by refusing to have one person performing on stage at a time. The stage lighting and light show includes a lot of purple, dark red and blue colors.

Why was this song chosen to represent your country? It is a politically neutral song in its' lyrics and style, meant to show another side of Throngist Lesva and hint that the country may be going through a slight political thaw with the recent change of its' leader.

Why was this artist chosen to perform this song? For physical attractiveness, charisma, good vocals and showmanship, being deemed worthy by the dictatorship to represent the country. Also for being of Retian Lesvan ethnicity, because that is the ethnicity of the current leader Cebra Tolar and the Retian Lesvan community was at the center of the recent important events in Lesva that led to the ascension of the current leader and his current reign, along with the changes that those events and the current new leadership brought.

Name of Participating Country: Democratic Republic of Tricklandia

Name of Nominated Song: The Modernman's Ballad

Name of Artist: Milian (Maximilian Prins)

Genre of song: Pop, bordering on swing/blues

Describe the song (you may ALSO link a real-life song as a reference to the general vibe): Linking Stromae's Carmen as reference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UKftOH54iNU
Milian's song takes on a narrative tone, describing the metamorphosis of an average college-aged student who one day opens his social media feed and finds a friend request from a man with an angry theatre mask as a profile picture, who then starts sending him hateful, rage-fueled posts. The student becomes increasingly addicted to the feed, lonelier, angrier, until he puts on a mask himself, and it is revealed that he's just one part of the cycle, ready to spew fury all over someone else.
The song's vibe is whimsical but at the same time ominous, making great use of brass synths and choral parts, and its lyrics are extremely satirical and on-the-nose; puns and wordplays are interlaced with bold messages, even hinting at current political events, half sung and half spoken in a loud, bold, punchy flurry of words.

Describe the artist's performance:

Milian is a musician, but also an actor and a showman; his performance brings out the excesses Tricklandians are known for abroad. He enters the stage silently, dressed in a black hat and long trenchcoat, with a white background behind him, and stands quite still.
Following the song's rage crescendo, he enlarges his movements more and more, throwing away the trenchcoat and revealing a bright red-colored full suit underneath, complete with a white shirt, a black tie, and white gloves and shoes. The background shows abstract red flames swirling over the white screen.
When it's time, in the last part of the song, Milian pulls out an angry theatre mask and puts it on; his dance becomes aggrandized, and the backgrounds switches to bright red light, with white and black abstract flame swirls, completing the three colors of the Tricklandian flag.

Why was this song chosen to represent your country?

To put it simply, the topic of political division in Tricklandia is one very strongly felt, as well as in the rest of the world. Milian hopes to strike a match in both national and international audiences, making them reflect upon what they consume and what they believe, and does so without hush-hush, slamming a well-crafted truth into their faces. In addition, the rise of Throngism in Tricklandia (with the song debatedly spreading anti-Throngist messages) as well as the Lancerian refugee crisis has made political discourse even more exacerbated, not to mention the very recent Rebeira mass shooting tragedy.

Why was this artist chosen to perform this song?

Milian won 2023's Melia Song Contest, Tricklandia's own music (melia in A'ana) festival which also serves as qualifier for the IslesVision contest. His combination of showmanship and musical performance took the spot in place of many others.

______________________________________

Name of proposed host country? Democratic Republic of Tricklandia

Name of proposed Venue? Kwaarii Nuiipo'ai Arena

Location of the Venue? Kwaarii, Tricklandia

Proposed budget for hosting the contest? Approx. ✧70,000,000 (17.5mil IAD)

Capacity of proposed venue? 22,500 seats + field spots

Why should this venue be chosen to host the Islevision Song Contest? The Nuiipo'ai Arena is one of the largest stadiums of Tricklandia, hosting one of Tricklandia's top 3 soccer/football team, a.k.a. Kwaarii's team. It can also very easily function as an arena, having done so multiple times in the past, and an extremely spacious one at that.

Why should this city be chosen to host the Islevision Song Contest? Because Kwaarii, of all the very diverse Tricklandian cities, is the most ethnically varied; it could serve as a pseudo-neutral standpoint for many nations and ethnicities. In addition, it is a large city (almost 1 million people), a seasoned tourist spot, well-furnished by hotels and venues, a food hotspot, and a city with an amazing musical scene even outside of the IslesVision. In terms of transport, it is served by seven subway lines and several tram and bus routes, and is connected to New Hipvil's large international airport, (situated close by) by high-speed train, covering the approx. 180km journey in around 62 minutes.

Are there any ongoing issues that could either prevent the Isle Song Contest from occurring or endanger attendees if it does occur? The resurgence of the RHR has been striking tension in Tricklandia's fairly Mauricanized societal environment; police presence and patrolling is heightened and dissent between groups is rising. For now, though, nothing else.

Name of Participating Country: United Commonwealths of Great Altera (Great Altera)

Name of Nominated Song: Heroes

Name of Artist: George Fuchs

Genre of song: Dance/Electro-Pop

Describe the song (you may ALSO link a real-life song as a reference to the general vibe): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-nbq6Ur103Q
The song “Heroes”, written and performed by Alteran-Lesvan national George Fuchs, is a dance-pop and electropop song that chosen to represent Great Altera's entry in the 2023 Islevision Song Content. The song is about being a hero in your own way, even if you have to face the demons in your mind; and is largely recognised as written to celebrate and commemorate the on-going political struggle in Lesva. The lyrics are inspirational and motivational, telling the listener to live their life like there is no tomorrow and to sing the greatest anthem ever heard. With a catchy chorus that repeats the word “heroes” several times, and a bridge that encourages the listener to sing along, the song has gained popularity in Altera not only for its tune and lyrics, but also its underlying political message.

Describe the artist's performance:
The song was performed by George Fuchs, an Alteran-Lesvan singer and TV presenter who has participated in several musical competitions and shows - although this entry will be his debut to the Islevision contest. He has a powerful and expressive voice that suits the song’s message and style. His performance aims to impress the audience with his stage performance, which involved a 3D animation of a little boy and his adventures. The animation was projected on a screen behind him and interacted with his movements and gestures. As both the character and the performer move and act with the music, a variety of backgrounds and motifs are displayed - ranging from references to young and old citizens struggling with poor mental health, to references to political demonstrations - albeit not directly, but noted as a reference to ongoing political struggles in the isles, most notably in Lesva.

Why was this song chosen to represent your country?
After months of preparation, writing and performing - nominations and entries from within Great Altera and the overseas territories were sifted by a panel of judges; before allowing 12 performances to be broadcasted live on Alteran television. Votes from the public were then cast to nominate three of their favourite performances; with the winner of the most votes going through as Altera's official nomination for the 2023 Islevision entry. George Fuchs' entry won in a landslide, with almost 70% of the total vote. Fuchs' was said to be "overwhelmed" and "utterly humbled" by the publics support for him, his family and his song.

Why was this artist chosen to perform this song?
George Fuchs was invited to take part in the competition as he is a well known Alteran-Lesvan composer, singer and song writer - as well as a celebrated TV presenter and personality. Whilst Fuchs was reluctant to take part at first, a fellow close friend and TV presenter encouraged him to make an entry. To his surprise, he was granted entry and - with support from his fellow TV presenters and producers - submitted an entry to the competition.

Name of Participating Country: The Kingdom of Takiv

Name of Nominated Song: Torvak Genavgaj (Land of the People)

Name of Artist: Kloda Vaskovza

Genre of song: Folk music

Describe the song (you may ALSO link a real-life song as a reference to the general vibe): A cheery, upbeat song about planet Earth being the refuge of humanity, despite all we have done to harm it. It is meant to inspire hope and unity among disparate groups of people and show that we are all people of the Earth. It has been widely co-opted by the environmentalist movement in Takiv, meant as a song to inspire action against climate change, and was even used in campaign rallies by current Chancellor Navke Tovhar during her 2020 election campaign.

Describe the artist's performance: Vaskovza wears a purple and white dress with a star and laurel pin, mimicking the Takivaj national flag. Her dance moves are long and flowing, matching the tempo of the song. She uses lots of color and light in her performances, and this is no exception, with spotlights of different colors illuminating her and the other dancers onstage. At the climax of the song, the lights turn blue and green, representing the Earth as seen from space.

Why was this song chosen to represent your country?: The song and singer were selected by a public vote conducted by the National Broadcasting Administration and Takivaj National Television. The nominees were selected by each of the Takivaj regions, with each region sending 2 nominees. Vaskovza ended up winning with around 65% of the national vote.

Why was this artist chosen to perform this song? The artist and songwriter, Kloda Vaskovza, is a well-known cultural icon in Takiv, famous for many of her other songs. Her songs are played frequently on radio stations, and she is celebrated for her pop music and folk songs like Land of the People.

Name of proposed host country? The Kingdom of Takiv

Name of proposed Venue? Virtaz Volnavra Arena

Location of the Venue? Virtaz, Takiv

Proposed budget for hosting the contest? Ꝟ26,500,000 (19.4 million IAD)

Capacity of proposed venue? 21,400 seats

Why should this venue be chosen to host the Islevision Song Contest? Volnavra Arena is one of the largest and most technologically advanced arenas in Takiv. It is famous for hosting many popular concerts and other large events. It has advanced lighting and sound systems, making it certain that wherever you are in the arena, you can hear the music well and you can see the lighting effects.

Why should this city be chosen to host the Islevision Song Contest? Virtaz is the capital and largest city in Takiv. The city is famous for its diverse cultural landscape, with many international cultures being prominent in the city. Such diversity would be beneficial for an international, intercultural event like Islevision. It is also one of the few cities in Takiv with the capacity for such an event, with many hotels, restaurants, bars, and nightclubs all over the city. It also has well-built public transport, including the large Virtaz Metro, which conveniently has a stop just 3 blocks from Volnavra Arena, and Virtaz Razyav International Airport, whixh is the largest airport in Takiv by size.

Are there any ongoing issues that could either prevent the Isle Song Contest from occurring or endanger attendees if it does occur? There could be small protests over the inclusion of Throngist Lesva in the contest.

Name of Participating Country:
The Forumnial Kingdom of Kravato
Name of Nominated Song:
Now She's Gone (But I'll Move On)

Name of Artist:
The Comeback (Timo TeGrisno, Lofi Kolada, Pavlo Radvin, Rikki Botelho)

Genre of song:
Beacher (Reggae-Alt-Punk)

Describe the song (you may ALSO link a real-life song as a reference to the general vibe):
(A cross of these two songs: Every Morning and What I Got). Now She's Gone is a relaxed, relatively cheerful song, talking about moving on from breakup, and not living in the past. The casual and relaxing musical and lyrical performance articulate this message of comfort and confidence in your future. The lyrics also poke some fun at the Lesvan regime, with a singular joke in the second verse comparing possessive partners to the Throngist regime.

Describe the artist's performance:
The three bandmates perform in very casual coordinated clothing organized as to not look matchy. They wear an assortment of semi-baggy jean, board shorts, t-shirts, and beach shirts. Lead singer Timo TeGrismo does moves across the stage in a very calm and flowing manner, and so does lead guitarist Lofi Kolada. As they play, a tasteful amount of lights and smoke effects are used to give the performance an interesting yet hazy mood.

Why was this song chosen to represent your country?
The song was chosen to represent Kravato as the band The Comeback, and the Beacher style, has been incredibly popular in the nation as of late. It has great meaning, and a strong message, but does not takes itself too seriously as far as lyrics go. The song willingly admits to the shortcomings of the artists in what it suggests, and delivers its message in a completely non-preachy and lighthearted way. In the tense climate of the modern day, it was felt that a relaxed and playful tone that might convince all Islanders not to take themselves too seriously.

Why was this artist chosen to perform this song?
The Comeback was chosen to perform at Islevision as they are one of the leading Beacher bands and are seen as the face of the current Beacher style. They also fully articulate the tone of the song, as they are one of the least controversial and most beloved bands in Kravato for their laid-back and humble attitudes.

Name of Participating Country: The Utopian Kingdom of the Union of Roendavari States

Name of Nominated Song: Lady Nightshade

Name of Artist: Almine

Genre of song: Electropop/Dark Pop

Describe the song (you may ALSO link a real-life song as a reference to the general vibe): An operatic vocal performance reminiscent of Roendavar's ancient songs, followed by a powerful performance of electropop with elements of the sound of Roendavar's gilded late 80s, Miss Belladonna is an exciting song that immediately captures the fantasies of listeners. Blending elements of electropop and darkpop, Almine delivers vocals amidst a hypnotizing beat, daring listeners to lose themselves to the music. The song is about an overly dramatized individual in the midst of fame and fortune. They are not afraid to use or start drama to their advantage, all in the name of acquiring fame. (link for vibe and song)

Describe the artist's performance: Almine is a star, and that shows through in her performances. Embodying the Emerald of the North, Roendavar, she is grand and projects majesty. Decked out in jewels, pearls, and gold, they contrast a stark white dress. She does not move from her spot as she sings despite the moving rhythm of the song, evoking the idea that she feels that she doesn't need to in order to capture the attention of the crowd. She already did so in her mind, which closely mirrors the meaning of the song. Her movements are evocative of grandeur, with brief periods where she lets loose. Her voice commands attention, yet also drips with sensuality.

The stage is set in the capital's New Dociara district, full of sleek glass and imposing billboards. The performance begins with a single spotlight, before picking up with the song in an array of flashing lights reminiscent of photography, glaring spotlights, and pulsating neon lights. The performance is set so that while all focus is on the artist, the crowd can move and party along to her music. She is merely a glamorous set piece in the middle of a concert that everyone can enjoy.

Why was this song chosen to represent your country? - Both a reflection and a critique of modern Roendavar, it is both an exaltation and a cautionary tale of the excess and fame that most people seek to achieve. Far too long, many in Roendavar have striven to acquire greatness, afraid of being left behind and forgotten. Always elbowing their way in the middle of the scene and in the center of lights. None can argue that we all deserve our spot in the world and that we cannot fault those who chase dreams. However, in this pursuit, we slowly fall apart. After all, the greater we rise, the greater our fall shall be. In a way, it represents Roendavar. In its pursuit to be the shining gem of the Western Isles, it has now only begun to see the dangers in slipping from the pedestal. Decades of decadence and prosperity have slowly begun to shake the population, especially after the Crimson Year attacks and brewing conflict in the continent of Gael. The grand dame of the Western Isles feels itself vulnerable and its beauty and fame cannot protect it from eventual destruction.

Why was this artist chosen to perform this song? - Almine is regarded as Roendavar's "pop madame", soaring as one of the country's top female artists. Born in the commune of Aimdaehis near the sanctuary of Ramandaeor, Almine, as do many Roendavari and those around the world, dreamed of being a part of the country's glamour. After being accepted to study at the Pilonas-Lacsandarieth Complex in Dociara, she finally had a chance to experience the energy and freedom of the renowned capital city. Working her way through the indie music scene at various bars in the Ringed District of Felamoren, she eventually found recognition after being featured as an artist on the world-renowned Oreis Ninth Club. She has now performed in various events, most notably at the celebrations during the Festival of Findhaeles in 2022.

Name of proposed host country? - The Utopian Kingdom of the Union of Roendavari States

Name of proposed Venue? - Alcelios Theater

Location of the Venue? - Ferien District, Free City of Dociara

Proposed budget for hosting the contest? - 20 million IAD

Capacity of proposed venue? - 15,000

Why should this venue be chosen to host the Islevision Song Contest? - A historical monument in Roendavar, the Alcelios Theater has seen great artists perform in its grandiose halls since its completion in 1727. From great composers to contemporary artists, performing at the Alcelios Theater in front of the Celion, especially during the Festival of Findhaeles, the Goddess of Music and Art, is regarded as the highest honor of artistry in Roendavar. Upgraded and retrofitted with modern equipment back in 2017, the newly renovated Alcelios Theater is ready to retain its glory as a birthplace of great music.

Why should this city be chosen to host the Islevision Song Contest? - Name a city more iconic and more famous (or in some cases, infamous) than glamorous Dociara. The city has long been the center of entertainment, art, music, fashion, and has been setting trends for decades, if not, centuries. Untouched and unblemished since its foundation in the early 800s BC, it has only become more grand as centuries of development and prosperity made it a city unlike any other. Diverse and free, it blends the old and the new in a place full of energy and emotions.

It is served by the Athelaai Aragonus International Airport and is connected to the Dociara Grand Central Station by high speed rail. Public transportation of all kinds plow through Dociara's streets, from vintage street trams that cross Old Dociara to newer sleek metro trains that snake across the Dociara Underground. The city is also regarded as one of the most walkable cities in the region, with ample space for pedestrians and cyclists free from the buzz of cars and buses.

Are there any ongoing issues that could either prevent the Isle Song Contest from occurring or endanger attendees if it does occur? - The continent of Gael has been in a state of mild unrest since the events of 2020. Sporadic incidents of occasional street fighting, crime, and a potential for further domestic attacks have left tensions heavy in Roendavar. In the Free City of Dociara, its infamy for the complete disregard for discretion in exchange for vibrancy has resulted in frequent cases of rowdy events, especially near the Ringed District of Felamoren. However, Roendavar remains as one of the safest places in the Western Isles and recent reforms in security have shown positive developments in assuring that both locals and foreigners are safe.

Name of Participating Country:
The Republic of San Jimenez

Name of Nominated Song:
Promesas de Amor

Name of Artist:
Emilia Arboleda

Genre of song:
Jimeno

Describe the song (you may ALSO link a real-life song as a reference to the general vibe):
(Comparable to: Te Juro). "Promesas de Amor" is a stirring Jimeno ballad that takes listeners on a passionate journey through the landscape of romantic promises between two lovers. The song is a celebration of enduring love and commitment, drawing inspiration from traditional Jimeno musical elements while infusing nostalgic styles similar to those of previous female Jimeno artists.

Describe the artist's performance:
Emilia performs with members of the band both behind and on each side of her. She wears a modest dark dress, vaguely coordinating with those next to her who wear white jackets and black plants. She moves from side to side as she sings, in sync with the musical beat and the others on stage. The young performer has a genuine and warm connection with her audience. She often interacts with the audience, engaging in playful banter and creating an intimate atmosphere. While being a humble performer, Emilia draws her audience in with her genuine devotion to the music and the message.

Why was this song chosen to represent your country?
"Promesas de Amor" was chosen to represent San Jimenez as the song became widely popular after Emilia's rise in the Jimenean charts. The song captures the essence of traditional romance as well as Jimeno culture, blending older Jimeno musical elements with orthodox outlooks on love. These elements and expressions depict the traditional values of San Jimenez in a romanticized light that has been well-received by nearly all in the country.

Why was this artist chosen to perform this song?
Emilia was chosen to perform as she has dominated the Jimenean charts in recent months and has won accolades at the Jimeno Music Awards in Carrizalelo. Despite her rise to fame, Emilia has maintained a rather simple and humble approach to her music by drawing on the influences of previous Jimeno artists and styles. She has gained popularity among both young and older Jimeneans through her music. Her style and character is authentically Jimenean.

Name of Participating Country:
The United Partitions of Salimanasia

Name of Nominated Song:
“Leme yn Che yn Huākenhuāu”

Name of Artist:
Yupōhuiya

Genre of song:
Synthpop, Pop-rock, UPop (United Partitions Pop)

Describe the song (you may ALSO link a real-life song as a reference to the general vibe):
like this
“Leme yn Che yn Huākenhuāu” (Salimanese for “You and Me and Rock n’ Roll”) is a pop song with a unique sound straight out of the '80s, with an upbeat happy tune meant to make you want to dance, and lyrical undertones about the dangers of consumerism.

Describe the artist's performance: Yupōhuiya is composed of four 16-year old idols. They are dressed in matching denim jackets, with multicolored skirts. The four girls dance in sync while they sing, while backup plays instruments.

Why was this song chosen to represent your country?
This song brings back a style of music that was popular in the mid-Potzopataquetl era of the United Partitions (the economic boom from the 1970s-2000s). It brings attention to how much the UP has changed since a few decades ago, representing the economic and cultural shifts that have defined so much of Salimanese history and culture, and how the Salimanese people overcame hardships and are now thriving. The lyrics can relate to the youth while the sound relates to the older sounds of the UP.

Why was this artist chosen to perform this song?
Yupōhuiya (Euphoria) is a fairly new but popular girl pop group made up of 4 teens. They were chosen to perform this song to represent the youth of the country. They’re a pop band rising in popularity on the music scene among the young people of Salimanasia and TWI as a whole, doing multiple Isles-wide tours. They’re known for their upbeat catchy dance music, often with subtle dark undertones, that’s meant to make you want to dance no matter what the lyrics are saying. Yupōhuiya are very talented dancers as well as singers, and music and dance are an important part of Salimanese culture; they are the rawest form of emotion we can express, more so than words could ever dream of. It is something that unifies our people and brings us together.

Name of proposed host country?
The United Partitions of Salimanasia

Name of proposed Venue?
Kalicīyanko Pālko (Bulko Coliseum)

Location of the Venue?
Kautakantza, Valinnia Partition

Proposed budget for hosting the contest?
2,050,000,000 UPP (20.5 million IAD)

Capacity of proposed venue?
23,110

Why should this venue be chosen to host the Islevision Song Contest?
The Kalicīyanko Pālko (often shortened to just the Kalicīyanko) is the biggest indoor stadium in the United Partitions, and one of the largest in Argus. Normally used for a variety of indoor sports, it is very frequently used as a concert venue for the biggest artists from around the Isles. Recently renovated and modernized to make the hybrid usage more flexible, the Kalicīyanko has some of the best acoustics you can get.

Why should this city be chosen to host the Islevision Song Contest?
Located partly on a tropical island paradise, Kautakantza is the largest city in the United Partitions, with a whopping 3.49 million people. A cultural centre and melting pot, this city grew quickly due to the large amount of immigration and tourists. While not the most historically or culturally significant part of the UP in terms of purely Salimanese culture, it makes up for it by being one of the most internationally culturally significant areas of the country, with little pieces of every part of the Isles in its many cultural districts. This along with its beautiful tropical landscape, this paradise on the water is literally built for tourists, with plenty of affordable, high-quality hotels, great public transportation throughout the entire city allowing for car-less transit to be as easy as possible. An international airport in Kautakantza allows for easy travel to and from the city.

Are there any ongoing issues that could either prevent the Isle Song Contest from occurring or endanger attendees if it does occur?
Neighbouring countries like Vacrus have been unstable as of late, however the United Partitions are more stable than they have ever been, being one of the safest democracies in Argus, and can assure complete security and peace of mind to those visiting.

Name of Participating Country: The People's Republic of Costavozka

Name of Nominated Song: The Flames of History

Name of Artist: Aurora's Flux (Band)

Genre of song: Classic Rock / Electro-Pop

Describe the song (you may ALSO link a real-life song as a reference to the general vibe):

"The Flames of History" is a song that would fit in with the style of many pop and classic rock songs from the late 1980s, if it weren't for the subtle modern portions of the work. The tune of the song is can only be described as a relaxed, upbeat, although somewhat bittersweet tune. The song's lyrics focus center around many historical achievements of the Western Isles, both the good and the bad, spinning a tale of the history of the Isles from the 1950s to the modern day. The song notes that triumph often follows tragedy, and in the end, things often work out. The message also aims to promote a theme of hope that the hard times will pass and improve and that the good times will keep on coming.

Tears For Fears - Everybody Wants To Rule The World (As a reference for the feel of the tune)
Billy Joel - We Didn't Start the Fire and Matchbox Twenty - How Far We've Come (As a reference for the base style/message of the lyrics)

Describe the artist's performance: During the performance of this song, the band members of Aurora's Flux enter the stage silently, dressed in business-casual wear of the kind that could be considered uniform to the Western Isles, albeit in some variation of the colors of the Costavozkan flag (black/dark grey, silver/white and gold/khaki). During the beginning of the performance, there is a little movement, but these are slow and deliberate. During the first major crescendo, however, these movements quicken and become far more relaxed and fluid. In addition, the lighting on the stage goes from a dull white to a green-blue (to symbolize the world) during this time. The performance overall is not overly elaborate, but not too simple.

Why was this song chosen to represent your country? In order to determine which song to nominate to represent Costavozka in this contest, the people of Costavozka were polled as to what the theme should be. The theme of "global unity" ended up winning by a majority of the votes, and based off of the genre, several songs were nominated- one by per region- and the winner was selected for yet another vote.

Why was this artist chosen to perform this song? As Aurora's Flux was the artist that created the song in the first place, the honor of performing the song at Islevision was offered to them, and they accepted.

Name of Participating Country: Republic of Thromsa

Name of Nominated Song: Chains Away

Name of Artist: Nyela (artistic name of Daniela dos Santos)

Genre of song: Dance pop

Describe the song (you may ALSO link a real-life song as a reference to the general vibe): "Chains Away" is a catchy dance pop anthem of woman-empowerment, calling for the end of constraints keeping women in specific, but any form of minority, to what is a society of conformity. The bolding vocals call for resilience in the feminist fight with dance pop electronic instrumentalization celebrate strength, independence, and the pursuit of equality between all humans. (ref.: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jbbc2yKnv0M).

Describe the artist's performance: The performance, with Nyela and female 6 dancers with a liberatory choreography, representing the theme of the song, and with synchronised dance moves. The staging equally on the thematic of the song featuring a compelling blend of music, movement, and colourful visuals, inspiring the listener/viewer to join the call for societal change and empowerment.

Why was this song chosen to represent your country? Winner of the National Song Contest 2023.

Why was this artist chosen to perform this song? Winner of the National Song Contest 2023.

Name of proposed host country? Thromsa

Name of proposed Venue? Grand Lotus Arena

Location of the Venue? Visconde de Assumpção, THROMSA

Proposed budget for hosting the contest? 22M IAD

Capacity of proposed venue? 25 000

Why should this venue be chosen to host the Islevision Song Contest? The modern venue is located in the outskirts of Visconde de Assumpção, having been recently constructed by a public-private consortium. The venue is well connected in terms of public transit, having its own metro station to easily connect it to the rest of the Visconde de Assumpção city, the island and the remainder of the Assumpção metropolitan area.

Why should this city be chosen to host the Islevision Song Contest? Visconde de Assumpção is a heavily populated city in the Assumpção metropolitan area. The city has a greatly designed set of public transit, including a bridge connecting it to Assumpção. The Assumpção metropolitan area has a significant tourist industry, ranging from beaches, to mountain tourism in the interior of the island, traditional colonial buildings, numbers of museums, and, most significantly, a significant casino and gambling industry.

Are there any ongoing issues that could either prevent the Isle Song Contest from occurring or endanger attendees if it does occur? None significant. With the event occurring near the end of the year there may be protests in Assumpção, but Visconde de Assumpção will most likely be free from them. There may also be strikes in public transportation services, however there are minimum services, and, should there be a significant event the Government is likely to increase minimal services to minimise the impact.

Name of Participating Country:
The Republic of Baumes

Name of Nominated Song: Meu Amor

Name of Artist: Julieta Botelho

Genre of song: Pop, Chapebrali Music

Describe the song (you may ALSO link a real-life song as a reference to the general vibe): A similar tune to this song centered around a girl who is obsessed over a guy and gives him her love but he does not recognize this and doesn't return his love, leaving her heartbroken. The music is meant to be sorrowful yet somewhat cheerful and relaxed at the same time. It is composed with only guitar, singing, some violins and a handful of trumpets to create a relaxed acoustic vibe. The song is in Maurican.

Describe the artist's performance:
The artist enters only after the instrumental intro ends and the song starts. Throughout the song the artist performs a dance that somewhat acts out the lyrics of her song in a flamenco-like movement, moving gracefully and elegantly across the stage. There are also backup dancers in the background at some parts of the music to help act out the scenes or add into her dance. Throughout the song, the spotlight remains on her.

Why was this song chosen to represent your country?
The song has peaked top charts in Baumes over the past months since its release earlier this March, and is an extremely trending or popular song as of current. It also pays homage to Chapebrali style music, which originated in the Chapebral region of southern Baumes, more or less being traditional Baumish country folk music and is believed to be a culturally significant part of Baumes, having been highly popular during the 1950's and 1960's in Baumes. This style largely uses guitars and sometimes trumpets to create an acoustic tune and is fairly simplistic but creates a calm and satisfying mood. However, in recent years this genre has died down in popularity and this song is believed to have sparked a renewed interest in Chapebrali music. The song also borrows some elements in modern music and has revolutionized Chapebrali music to the 21st century.

Why was this artist chosen to perform this song?
Julieta Botelho is famously remembered for her performance in the 2014 edition of the Baumish singing competition Prima Voza in which she was the youngest ever winner of the competition. Since 2020 she has gotten back into the music industry and her songs have been largely successful within Baumes and the Maurican community and her songs have been amongst the most popular in recent years. She is widely remembered for her unique song styles - she likes to try new genres and themes.

Hopefully this isn't too late! I intended to post sooner but was held back IRL!

Name of Participating Country: Republic of Martenyika

Name of Nominated Song:Dawn Arises

Name of Artist: Maurice Azumbele & Melanie Bayissa

Genre of song: World, Traditional/folk, new age

Describe the song (you may ALSO link a real-life song as a reference to the general vibe): The major inspiration
This instrumental song features a lot of traditional, homemade Martenyikan instruments, such as the thumb piano played by Maurice Azumbele, the wooden flute played by Melanie Bayissa, and back-up percussion. There are also a few strings and vocalists to add effect in certain parts. Overall the song is meant to spread optimistic, inspirational, even spiritual vibes, and challenge the listener to not only look for the good to come, but celebrate the good now. Look for the "silver linings." It dares the listener to get up and dance!

Describe the artist's performance: The stage is dim, aside from faint dark purplish/bluish lighting. The piece opens with call-and-answer between Maurice and Melanie on their respective instruments. The musical phrases are reminiscent of Martenyikan bird sounds. As they play back and forth, the lighting steadily becomes warmer, and brighter, representing the rising sun. There is a short pause, then everyone joins in for the main part of the song, the full light now revealing band members in vibrant Martenyikan clothing. Melanie Bayissa plays a solo on her wooden flute. The percussionists get to show off next, as they create a soundscape which builds into the final hurrah. The song finishes strong including energetic strings, triumphant vocal harmonies, and deep reverberating drums. They dramatically cut out, leaving Maurice and Melanie to finish the last few quiet notes together. As they do so, the lights dim once more.

Why was this song chosen to represent your country?

Not only does it represent the nation's traditional culture, but also its people, history, and current "renaissance" after decades of strife. Yet, the overall feeling of the song is not exactly limited to Martenyika or its people, it encourages a positive outlook that can be applicable to people or even nations across the Isles.

Why was this artist chosen to perform this song?

Maurice Azumbele and Melanie Bayissa were separately popular in Martenyika and South Argus, but over the past few years they have been breaking onto the Isles' traditional/world music scene together--they got engaged. They've seen success at festivals outside of South Argus, and collaborated with other traditional and non-traditional artists. Maurice and Melanie are passionate about bringing the unique sounds of Martenyika to the rest of the Isles. That combined with their growing international popularity made the duo a relatively easy choice.

The Flames of History, Aurora's Flux (People’s Republic of Costavozka)

The Song

Tune, Lyrical Content, Lyrical Content

The Performance

During the performance of this song, the band members of Aurora's Flux enter the stage silently, dressed in business-casual wear of the kind that could be considered uniform to the Western Isles, albeit in some variation of the colors of the Costavozkan flag (black/dark grey, silver/white and gold/khaki).

George Fuchs, Heroes (United Commonwealths of Great Altera)

The Song

Reference

The Performance

Now She’s Gone (But I’ll Move On), The Comeback (The Forumnial Kingdom of Kravato)

The Song

Reference, Reference

Now She's Gone is a relaxed, relatively cheerful song, talking about moving on from breakup, and not living in the past. The casual and relaxing musical and lyrical performance articulate this message of comfort and confidence in your future. The lyrics also poke some fun at the Lesvan regime, with a singular joke in the second verse comparing possessive partners to the Throngist regime.

The Performance

The three bandmates perform in very casual coordinated clothing organized as to not look matchy. They wear an assortment of semi-baggy jean, board shorts, t-shirts, and beach shirts. Lead singer Timo TeGrismo does moves across the stage in a very calm and flowing manner, and so does lead guitarist Lofi Kolada. As they play, a tasteful amount of lights and smoke effects are used to give the performance an interesting yet hazy mood.

Summer Rain, Gavi Sarar (Throngist Republic of Lesva)

The Song

Reference

The Performance

Soothing voice and a performance, which includes calm and appropriate, but also soothing body language accustomed with the song's style.

My Feet Are Free, Obsor Imben (People’s Republic of Mardio)

The Song

Reference

"My Feet are Free" is a folk song performed on the Mardian guitar by Obsor Imben while he performs as the solo vocalist. This song tells a semi-autobiographical account of Obsor Imben's youth as a traveling musician before his mandatory military service. The chorus ends with the titular phrase "My Feet are Free" and is easy for audiences to sing along to after hearing it once.

The Performance

Imben's voice is deep and cracked with age, yet is still able to sound hauntingly beautiful. He sits alone on stage left, a light illuminating him in such a way that you only see his hands plucking at his guitar. He involves the audience in the performance by remaining silent at the very end of the final chorus, letting them sing "My Feet are Free."

Dawn Arises, Maurice Azumbele & Melanie Bayissa (Republic of Martenyika)

The Song

Reference

This instrumental song features a lot of traditional, homemade Martenyikan instruments, such as the thumb piano played by Maurice Azumbele, the wooden flute played by Melanie Bayissa, and back-up percussion. There are also a few strings and vocalists to add effect in certain parts. Overall the song is meant to spread optimistic, inspirational, even spiritual vibes, and challenge the listener to not only look for the good to come, but celebrate the good now. Look for the "silver linings." It dares the listener to get up and dance!

The Performance

The stage is dim, aside from faint dark purplish/bluish lighting.

The Remodin National Anthem, Corii Aamdu (Rhu T'aazi hu Remodio)

The Song

Woody Guthrie vibes, the Remodion National Anthem is generally a hymnal march type song but Corii is putting a folk-country twist on it after that genre has become more popular in the country. The Remodin National Anthem is about unity in times of strife. No matter the difficulty, the Chuuṣoostee people have prevailed and will prevail. The song, translated to English, sings that despite the waves, the beaches of Tachile stay graceful.

The Performance

Corii's performance is simple.

Lady Nightshade, Almine (Utopian Kingdom of the Union of Roendavari States)

The Song

Reference

An operatic vocal performance reminiscent of Roendavar's ancient songs, followed by a powerful performance of electropop with elements of the sound of Roendavar's gilded late 80s, Miss Belladonna is an exciting song that immediately captures the fantasies of listeners.

The Performance

Almine is a star, and that shows through in her performances.

The Modernman’s Ballad, Milian (Democratic Republic of Tricklandia)

The Song

Reference

The Performance

Milian is a musician, but also an actor and a showman; his performance brings out the excesses Tricklandians are known for abroad. He enters the stage silently, dressed in a black hat and long trenchcoat, with a white background behind him, and stands quite still.

Following the song's rage crescendo, he enlarges his movements more and more, throwing away the trenchcoat and revealing a bright red-coloured full suit underneath, complete with a white shirt, a black tie, and white gloves and shoes. The background shows abstract red flames swirling over the white screen.

When it's time, in the last part of the song, Milian pulls out an angry theatre mask and puts it on; his dance becomes aggrandized, and the backgrounds switches to bright red light, with white and black abstract flame swirls, completing the three colours of the Tricklandian flag.

This is contrasted with the intense chorus, with have an anthemic quality to them and giving the song is emotional crescendo.

The Performance

Annēllis' performance is stripped back and minimalistic, as she relies on the power of her own voice to carry the song. She appears on stage in a red and white gown and sings into a wireless microphone. Initially she does not move much however as the song reaches the first chorus her gown falls away to reveal a tighter dark red outfit that allows for more freedom of movement. ‘Meu Amor’ and ‘You, Me and Rock and Roll’ emerged as the clear favourites within the Tsunterlands helped both by the long expose of Tsunter listeners to these styles of music and due to organised efforts by the Maurican and Salimanese communities in the Tsunterlands to see songs in their language win the contest. ‘Now She’s Gone’ was also likely helped by a push from Tsunter-Kravatoans although as this community is more integrated within the Tsunterlands the Tsunter-Kravatoan vote was more spread out. ‘Promesas de Amor’ was well-liked in the Tsunterlands as Jimeno style music was seen as very similar to the popular Tsunter Cruise music of the 1960s (and its modern revival, New Cruise). ‘First Break Up’ and ‘Lady Nightshade’ also benefitted from this similarity although to a lesser extent. Folk music has always had a place in the Tsunterlands which aided ‘My Feet Are Free’ and the Remodin National Anthem’ whilst many Tsunters appreciated the historical references of ‘The Flames Of History’.
