World Baseball Classic 12 Signup and Host Bid Thread

Postby Qazox » Wed Jul 01, 2009 9:59 pm

In order to (hopefully) get this started around the time of the MLB All-star game (JULY 14th, 2009), the 12th WBC signup thread is now open!

Can Tocrowkia repeat? Can Newmanistan re-gain the title they just lost? Can Qazox become the first to 4? Will Milchama or Zwangzug regain title form? Can Taeshan actually win one of these? Or will an unknown emerge and take home the glory that is the WBC trophy? (that is if we ever get one!)

Signup now to find out the answers to these questions!

Liventia will make a conditional return, provided no newcomer hosts the WBC for the simple reason that you should really at least be around often and not immediately come in and host a big tournament.

Sho'.

I can host, if you want, though I'd rather not host an entire tournament with OOTP. If there's something else, just pop it my way and I'll take a gander.

EDIT: oh, and I can vouch for Central Prestonia in that, if he hosts, I'm confident he'll do a fine job (and I think he has experience hosting stuff internally in Haven, though I'm not sure).

Was there any need to write something that suggests bitchiness, LE?

If you want to sign up provisionally, just say that. If you don't think the host chosen can do the job, just quietly withdraw from the WBC.

The last thing the WBC needs is stupid drama.

Not an official WBC Council opinion, just a thought.

I am well aware that you're entitled to your opinion. Nowhere in what I wrote did I suggest otherwise.

However, you could have gotten the same concerns across in a way that doesn't potentially inflame newcomers. There's a time and a place when you can provide all the undiplomatic candor you wish. During sign ups is rarely that time or place.

I'd suggest thinking about how you word your concerns. You can express them in a way that provides us a chance to think constructively about them. However, you have a tendency to come across more aggressively than necessary. Based on my reading of subsequent posts, you have a tendency to come across more aggressively than you intended to.

Again, I'm making a suggestion. It's not enforceable as a rule, nor do I intend it to be.
