AOCAF LXX...AOHC...and the AOMG

Welcome to the Kingdom of Al-Tamazgha for the seventieth AOCAF, as well as the AO Hockey Championship (?) and the AO Medieval Games (!) !

---

Few logistical things:

Cutoffs and subsequent scorinations will be done every 48 hours, with any extenuating circumstances that require a delay to be announced on the OOC thread. Xkoranate with NSFS formula and Additive mods will be used. Third party scorination will be requested for matches involving Al-Tamazgha.

RP bonus will be fully cumulative. It will be set to ensure that an unranked nation's max to near-max RP bonus can equal that of a middle top-seed nation without RP bonus by quarterfinals stage (approximately 6-7 cutoff windows).

Please post your roster. 66% No-Roster penalty will be applied to AOCAF ranks until the roster is posted, after which full rankings will be restored - I have decided to make it two-thirds instead of halving, which I don't feel to be enough, or complete zeroing, which while preferred may not be optimal considering downturn in activity atm. That said, the deadline for roster bonus will be at the end of the group stage, after which ranking point will not be restored even with a roster posted.

AOHC and the AOMG

The current residents of Atlantian Oceania are welcome to sign up for the AOHC and the AOMG. Both competitions, which were selected after output from the regional members themselves, will commence after the group stage. Signups for both competitions will be set in alignment with the MD2 cutoff, which is 23:59 EDT, 16th of September.

More information will be provided in the coming days, likely via a separate post but I will try to provide adequate update on the OP where needed as well.

IC Information

Kingdom of Al-Tamazgha is a long, medium-sized semi-constitutional monarchy in mid-western Atlantian Oceania.

Consisting predominantly of mountains and coastline, geographically Al-Tamazgha spans from extensive coastline on the west and the north, the rocky Sebou mountains for most of the inland territories, and the desert on the south that directly border Sunset Shimmer. It also faces the Sea of Wonders to the west and the Vilitan Cove to the north, which have contributed to its historic reputation as the 'Celestial Gateway', and sees most of the population live in the major cities including the capital in Kajaïa and the economic centre in Maisonbleue along the coast. It is also located near the archipelago of Zafran Islands, an overseas territory of Quebec and Shingoryeo located four hundred kilometres from Al-Tamazgha. Currently discussions are being in place for the Zafran Islands to join Al-Tamazgha.

Featuring ancient archaeological sites dating back to the classical antiquity, Al-Tamazgha spans a large area of 580,500 km2, with a population of 31 million people. Geographically Al-Tamazgha spans from extensive coastline on the west and the north, the rocky Sebou mountains for most of the inland territories, and the desert on the southeast that directly border Sunset Shimmer. Its territory is largely arable, though environmental conservation remains a challenge and a work in progress. The far-western tip of the country, Lamaneland, is tropical and is considered to be culturally and ethnically different from the Ismailites or Tamazghans predominant in the east. Al-Tamazgha's official religion is Sufi Islam, and there are two official languages in the country - Arabic, Tamazghan (Berber) - while French, Tamazghan-Arabic and to lesser extent Judaeo-Arabic dialects, are used on regular administrative and educational capacities. Tamazghan culture and identity derives from geographically diverse nature of the state, as well as centuries of conflicts and influences from historically intersecting forces. Its capital is Kajaïa, one of the three ancient cities of Al-Tamazgha, while the largest city and economic capital is Maisonbleue.

Dating back to the early antiquity period, Al-Tamagzha was inhabited by various ethnic groups, in particular, the Tamazghans to the east and the Lamanes to the west. Over the course of the centuries, it was ruled by various dynasties, with Islam arriving in the 9th and the 10th centuries through the Malikid Dynasty, which set the brand of pluralism and tolerance commonly found in the Tamazghan religious traditions. From the 16th to the 19th century, Al-Tamazgha had to fight against external forces that threatened its sovereignty. The dynastical change from the Sharifian to the current Ismailite Dynasty in 1712 coincided with economic and cultural prosperity, which saw a Quebecois-aided expansion foray into the Lamaneland on the early 19th century. The strategic significance of the Al-Tamazgha's location, as well as the increased expense to maintain a much larger Banija, had seen the Quebecois interests resume in the state. From 1894 to 1948 Al-Tamazgha had the Protectorate status under the Shingoryeoite Empire, under which its sovereignty had remained, but the foreign affairs handled by the Quebecois. In 1948, Al-Tamazgha regained full independence after a series of negotiations following year-long riots that included a blockade of the Maisonbleue Port, as well as the post-war realities of maintaining the expanses of the Shingoryeoite Empire.

In the contemporary era, Al-Tamazgha remains a relatively stable country. Al-Tamazgha is a semi-constitutional monarchy with a Monarch, a Prime Minister and the two-levelled legislature consisting of the Senate and the House of Commons. Traditionally the Monarch, elected under Male-preference primogeniture, enjoys significant legislative and executive power and is technically the Commander of the nation's three armed forces. The Privy Council, consisting of the members of the Cabinet, the Parliament and significant members of the community, also holds significant power and offers advice, though their overreaching power, alongside that of the monarch, is being reduced in an effort to further democratise the country. Considered to be an economically-emerging market with significant middle power influence relative to its economy, Al-Tamazgha holds significant power in both the Quebecois Commonwealth and its southern bloc of nations in Atlantian Oceania. It holds significant economic and cultural ties with Quebec and Shingoryeo, Busoga Islands and Banija, and enjoys amicable to growing relations with fellow Arabophone nations across the Multiverse.

Stade-Alphonse-Diawara, Maisonbleue

To Host: Group A, R16x2, Final

Built in the late-1700s as a trading port by then-emergent Ismailite dynasty, the port city would soon subside Khenikech, Kajaia and Sakane as the main nation of the Tamazghan domains. Developing a peculiar reputation as the 'Celestial Gateway' between southwestern AO, the Vilitan Cove and the Salamantics during those years and fifty-year time period as a Quebecois protectorate, Maisonbleue would develop into an economic centre driving the country's economy around heavy industry and port. Over a century after its independence it remains a cosmopolitan city, with about one-fifth of the population considered to be foreigners and significant Christian and Jewish population residing on the outskirts - nevermind their stance on Banijan Mormonism, which remains to be hostile as a 'foreign element) - and this is reflected in the city's multitude of architectural styles and neighbourhoods. This includes a conflicting mixture of its historic Mellah in the centre, the glass-dominant Cite Financiere de l'Ouest (CFL) on the western end, and centuries of housing policy that would include painting the roofs and walls blue and white, driving with it a pictoresque appearance. Not to mention continuing sprawls.

Stade-Alphonse-DiawaraLocated in the nation's largest city and economic capital which is also famous for its blue houses and streets best remembered for the 1943 Quebecois movie 'Maisonbleue', the national stadium is home to the city's two AOPIC Ligue Professionelle 1 football teams, Taqwaa AC and l'Etoile Rouge. With around twenty years old it does look a little bit aged but the Tamazghan FA, the owners of the stadium, has constantly updated the venue over the years to allow the stadium to host international-standard matches.

Stade de l'Esperance, Cap-Vert

To Host: Group B, R16, QF, Third Place Match

Hot, dry and far away in the volatile western province of Lamaneland. Cap-Vert is a relatively recent city originally established as trading post and slave trade location under an old empire of Lamanes (Wolofs), and would see rise in significance as a port city, though to greater interest in fishing and military purposes, following the Tamazghan annexation of Lamaneland in early-19th century. Heavily urbanised and compact, driven around the peninsula of land in the city proper, Cap-Vert remains a major economic centre and military outpost, with the Royal Quebecois Navy maintaining an overseas base there.

For most part, it is not exactly a tourist destination outside of few attractions such as the Neverend Point Museum, and the continued instability of Lamaneland relative to the rest of country would mean that usually most of the inbound demand there is for more consistent, business traffic. But the city's 4 million population and the significance of Stade de l'Esperance to the Lamaneland serves well for the competition, and thus is included there.

Stade Olympique de Khenikech (Cap. 56,000), Khenikech

To Host: Group C, R16x2, QF, SF

Located inland, halfway on a major trades and transportation route between Lamaneland and rest of the country, Khenikech is one of the three ancient capitals of the city. It is in particular known for the city's Medina (Fortress) date back to the times of medieval dynasties and the famed Jardin Bellemare on the outskirts of the city. While the city's significance has slightly declined since then, its continued relevance among the Tamazghans and the status as a popular tourist destination has meant that Khenikech was an easy choice for the AOCAF. Stade Olympique is a modern, multi-purposed stadium with international-regulation tracks. Home to local clubs Racing Club and Renaissance, its sole downside is that it does not have an open roof, but being an indoor city with high altitude, the climate should remain favourable enough for the fans to attend the matches in early-autumn anyway.

Stade Ismail II (Cap. 20,000), Bni Drar

To Host: Group D, R16, QF

Located on the eastern end of the nation directly facing Nojika on the other side of treacherous, narrow strait of water used for trading, Bni Drar is known for arid, cool climate. Due to its position as a gateway to more inland corridor of the northern Southwest, the city has seen government-led revitalisation projects that so far, have led into interesting results with slow progressions meaning that both modern high-risers coexist with old-world buildings and industrial sites. That strategic significance, ironically enough, is also why the Stade-Ismail-II is included to host matches of the AOCAF 70. Stade-Ismail-II, which hosts Père-Benjelloun AC, is a 20,000-seater stadium with decent pitch conditions and less-than-ideal seats.

Stade de la Paix (Cap. 48,000), Kajaia

To Host: Group E, R16x2, QF, SF

Kajaia is the country's capital and one of three ancient capitals, though it trails behind Maisonbleue and Cap-Vert as third-largest city. Being the seat of both the Islamilite dynasty since 1700s, and the Parliament that sees limited but still substantial functions, its boundaries between the suburbs and the Centreville, best established by the red walls of the city's Qasbah (Fortress) and neatly-paved roads. Unlike much larger Maisonbleue about two and a half hours west by car, the city's population is split between Ismailites (Arabs) and Tamazghans (Berbers) and is considered to be the entryway to the deserts on inland.

Stade de la Paix, located just outside the heart of the city, is on the western side of the bay directly facing the city's famed Green Mosque. The Green Mosque, commonly considered to be the symbol of the city and the more religious, conservative nature of the country, holds the nickname due to the green colour of the Minaret made from the Emerald walls. As for the stadium itself, it is a rare, football-specific stadium that has drawn controversy for putting Kajaia's QComm heritage site status on risk. Built to be completed in time for the AOCAF 70, the Stade is expected to serve as primary home of the Tamazghan national team in future cycles.

Canadian Dominion Ganders

Canadian Dominion soccer.. it does exist but its not the best out there as it is mainly on the bottom half of the standings but it has some hope with new players being brought in and ownership actually wanting the team to win some games! Although we might see the Ganders be stuck in a rebuild, the new players have brought some life in the team. It's good to hear that there is hope for the team with new players being brought in and a focus on winning games from ownership. Rebuilding can be a challenging process, but it sounds like the new players are bringing some positive energy to the team. It will be interesting to see how they progress in future of Canadian Dominion Soccer.

Well with that introduction out of the way lets take a look at the roster.

Green: Able to play
Red: Injured
Gold: Starter

#	FORWORD AGE	HT	WT	SHOT	BIRTH PLACE
12 Sebastian Colt 29 6-0 183 L Goose-Bay
25 Cohen Aceron 35 5-8 179 R Moose Stersqui

16 Eric Riley 27 5-10 181 L Prince Wnavi
33 Donovan Lane 30 6-1 191 L North Saultbe
75 Kane Parker 26 5-8 179 R Rouynface
42 Camden Davis 25 6-1 176 R Grand Delver

In the world of soccer, strikers play a crucial role in scoring goals and securing victories for their team. When a team loses key players, including star strikers, it can be challenging to fill those positions and maintain success. However, with the help of new manager Aaron McDonald, this roster has undergone some changes to bring on new talent to take over important roles. Looking at the strikers on this team's roster is a clear indication that manager McDonald has made significant efforts to build a strong attacking force. While many of last year's players have moved on, Coach McDonald has brought in new strikers who he believes have what it takes to succeed at the highest level. These strikers happen to have two of Canadian Dominions best on the team with Twenty-nine year old Sebastian Colt and Thirty-eight year old Cohen Aceron being the ones heading this years Strikers with subs such as Donovan Lane and Kane Parker being ready to step in if needed.

#	MIDFEILDERS	AGE	HT	WT	SHOT	BIRTH PLACE

2 Arlo Roberts 25 5-9 173 R Grand Delver
18 Elliott Russell 23 5-8 171 L Nendoras Colonies
26 Andre Roth 30 5-8 173 R Nendoras Colonies
35 Ian Shields 18 5-10 179 R Grand Delver
27 Waylon Keen 34 5-6 179 L Goose-Bay

Canadian Dominion squad's focus on scouting and recruitment has become more pronounced with their search for top-performing midfielders. The addition of players like Ryan Hamilton and Izabella Mayer is a testament to their commitment to finding top-quality athletes for the team. It's exciting to see how these new recruits will contribute to the team's overall performance, especially given their demonstrated excellence in all areas of gameplay during initial practices. As such, it seems that the Ganders are making a strong investment in building a competitive and successful team for this World Cup qualifiers.

#	DEFENSE AGE	HT	WT	SHOT	BIRTH PLACE

17 Phoenix Wood 24 5-9 169 L Nendoras Colonies

48 Nixon Hill 22 6-1 183 L/R Prince Wnavi
86 Waylon Keen 28 5-10 187 R North Saultbe
61 Zane Hoffman 20 6-3 192 L Goose-Bay

67 Nico Glen 21 6-2 170 L Nendoras Colonies
43 Ivan Holder 29 5-11 168 L Goose-Bay

Now we will take a look at the Canadian Dominions defense, the second-to-last line of defense against attacking teams. This year's Defense has seen some slight upgrades, although Canadian Dominion’s defense doesn’t have any notable additions, with CD still being a more offensive-based team trying to find success on the offensive side to negate anything bad that happens on the defensive side of the pitch.

#	GOALIES AGE	HT	WT	SHOT	BIRTH PLACE
88 Tristan Clarke 29 6-4 184 R/L Goose-Bay
22 Josiah Byrne 27 5-11 189 R/L Prince Wnavi
21 Enzo North 19 6-2 188 R/L Nendoras Colonies

The CD Ganders have a new set of goalies this year, with an emphasis on experience and skill. The team is led by Tristan Clarke, who brings with him a wealth of knowledge and expertise in the field. With these new players joining the squad, it's expected that the team will show significant improvement this season. The importance of having skilled and experienced goalies cannot be overstated in ice hockey. They are often the last line of defense and can make or break a game. With Tristan Clarke leading the way, the CD Ganders are in good hands. Clarke's leadership combined with his technical prowess has been crucial to building a solid defense for the squad. The other goalies on the team also possess valuable experience that will be vital as they work together to support each other in achieving their goals.

In summary, while CD Ganders may have new goalies this year, they are not lacking in talent or skill. With Tristan Clarke at helm and a strong supporting cast around him, fans can expect some exciting things from this team as they head into their next season.

Manager: Aaron McDonald

Background info: The CD Ganders have had internal problems for some time, and Aaron McDonald has been appointed as the new manager to resolve them. McDonald was hired specifically to address these issues, and he has taken a bold approach by clearing house. There are several challenges that McDonald is facing, including poor team dynamics, lack of communication between players and staff, and underperformance on the field. By clearing house, McDonald is making it clear that he wants to build a new team culture that prioritizes mutual respect and collaboration. While this approach may be controversial for some fans of the CD Ganders, it's essential to remember that teams need strong leadership to succeed. If McDonald can create a more positive atmosphere within the organization, it could translate into better results on the field and improved morale among players. Ultimately, time will tell if the gamble pays off. Still, one thing is clear: Aaron McDonald is willing to take bold action to address internal issues at CD Ganders

It's been 4 years since the Sea Dome Sharks had a surprising if not quite oceaniabeating AOCAF 67.

Since then, Domeward folks have seemingly had decades of experiences, many they'd give back on the first offer. First the society under the Dome fell apart to civil war. City Island, previously the crown in Sea Dome City's jewel as't'were, seceded and began to demand 'corporate rights'. The Sea Dome Navy promptly invaded, at which point Communists and Anarchists both broke off. Upon analyzing the situation and debating it a bit longer than probably necessary, each of the left wing factions realized two obviously undeniable facts. First, it had been militarily silly to break off; for all their differences with the Sea Dome Unionist movement, it was a society worth defending against the capitalists, and convincing everyone in the dome to make radical political decisions would be fundamentally impossible until domeward linguistics advanced quite a bit further. In fact, the worst part of that society had voluntarily left it, meaning it was technically a better ally now than it had ever been. But second, the revolutionaries' newfound independence and control over their own lives was the dream for most of them back on their homeworlds and should hardly be thrown away. Regardless of what kind of culture and hierarchy would come to exist in the Sea Dome Navy, it was clear that its two allies were to set their own path.

Image
The dream of a Supermassive Sea Dome reunited under the blade would never come to pass. Not everyone in the Island City got along either, and this society would inevitably become sectioned and stratified of its own right, but they had the wealth and just enough of the tactical unity to force a permanent separation from Red Sea Dome City. Word of atrocities committed on either side hardly needed to spread. Citizens of both the old, spread out SDC and the new Island City coring out its middle saw them committed live on stream. Each way of life soon intended to survive no matter the odds and understandably insisted on not doing so in enemy hands. Internal enemies first attempted to exert their will through sabotage and guerrilla campaigns but would each, in time, come to accept the new reality and fight just to reach the other side of the line. Two governments each unwilling to passively strengthen the other would inevitably spiral into total war and drag everyone else in with them. On one side: the wet-incisor rule of strong over weak. On the other: life, humanity, freedom from barbarity. Democracy, social liberalism and all other forms of weakness are over and now is the time of monsters.

LOCATION: Upper Dome district of Sea Dome City
Expecting to be absolutely trounced against multiversal competition, the Lemon Sharks find themselves desperate to cut, at the very least, the advantage held by crossdome rivals Corporate City 1Image Green Diamonds. In cooperation with the UD district, the Upper Dome Guardians multicode football club, and Sea Dome University (whose Stingrays also needed to cut the same advantage even more urgently due to a division rivalry with High City College Image) the People's Federal Matriarchy built a terrifyingly high-tech venue lofted to an elevation as high as could be sustained.

With access to all Matrian territories and regions, and several nations' worth of creative and well-trained civil engineers and architects, it was still a challenge to recreate the conditions at Peak Field. The engineers couldn't find a way to make something that high support thousands of fans without serious risk of injury and damage. However, they were able to work with Upper Dome Massive's Designer Stadium Company to build an NSCF-tested stadium that can safely hold several thousand drunken youths at a height of 5,420 ft. Still, I wouldn't jump up and down more than strictly necessary.

NEW MANAGER: Image Gothal Mathee (JOV)
* translatable Matrian name
KEEPER
0 Lt. Ham Palisade*, 37M Dome City EaglesImage
Brother of Hock. Scar across right eye area earned in the infamous ambush by Xiu's Marines at Remission Beach could have been removed by now, but it hasn't been. Allowed only 13 GA in 20 Casaran matches for DCE. Expected to dazzle in AOCAF and SPL 1. A rangy keeper unafraid of any confrontation, Hock had 24 saves in the BCC.
11 Sgt. Ditch Weed*, 28N Revolucion Image
Comes on for penalties, their favorite part of any match. An adrenaline fiend who loves kicking and saving penalties in any context. Solid with the ball. Revolucion may or may not stay in League 1 after the coming season.
23 Cpl. Strong May Crumble, 27F Sea Dome UniversityImage
Just graduated in Economics. May start some games. Athletic and good on the ball but not as accomplished on PKs.
FULLBACK
1 Warman* Farfadillis, 32M La Querida ImageFFD
Started for DCE with Ham. Ideally 'Warman' should be translated in one word if possible, even if this mangles your language. Crucial to the surprise results in AOCAF prewar, and to the Eagles' defensive efforts in SDFA, the man named after a war-torn nation was bought by one of their clubs to even further desolate the poor bastards. Warman was great in BCC, credited with keeping the far superior Indusse side to 1 goal. Mr. Farfadillis' Navy rank is suspended while he plays abroad, standard practice to discourage influential Matrians from representing the State abroad in their own interests. His foreign income will be taxed at incomprehensible rates should he bring it back to the Dome, though.
4 Maj. Arctic Wood, 28F Hub City FC Image
A quick, occasionally deceptive wingback, Arctic is known for bolting up the side of a dazed opposing midfield but also for painfully efficient tackling. Graduated from Sea Dome Independent Study with a degree in marine biochemistry during the war, immediately becoming a Navy lab technician. Further details of her service are classified.
13 Sgt. Vesper Califas, 27N Sea Dome UniversityImage
Clean ball handler and punishing tackler. Considered a useful but disturbing personality in MSD. Majoring in Military History and often talks mates' ears off about strategy and weapons.
16 Cpl. Kingfisher Lark*, 26N Misfits FC Image
An often smirking, borderline narcissistic sprinter who loves to come in late and work some poor defender half to death, then come back and stop a shot. However, playing and fighting alongside much older squadmates has imbued a quantum of respect and composure upon their famously dramatic personality. Where the relatively young Matrian goes from here is anybody's guess.
CENTERBACK
2 Sgt. Solar Machine*, 33N Deep Country Image
Key to DC's (extremely close) 4th-best defense allowing just 17 GA in SDFA. Graduated from SDU Civil Engineering and worked on the membranes underneath the Dome allowing it to exchange (or, technically, poison) water anywhere. Administered Naval engineering projects during the war. Solar has a penchant for using her head both figuratively and literally. By the way, DCFC play in the Shallowdeeps, the water between SDC and the Deep Country Research Station, so she is also accustomed to a literal high-pressure environment.
3 Maj. Heaven Walker, 34FDeep Country Image
A rare "full English" name, commonly mistaken for a Matrian translatable name, and Heaven takes it in stride when it is translated out of habit. Her work with Solar was crucial for club and country, including the aforementioned offside trap incident. Criminally passionate on the field, perhaps a little hot under the collar even for a Matrian. Military career classified.
14 Slani Slani, 28M Trade Zone Nationals Image
Full voting member of the so-named libertarian (left) policlub Black Star PC, a faction with outsize influence on the PFM's constitution and FP. Slani was originally apellated for being a glory hound on the pitch. A defender with a forehead for goal, they can be grifty and as such were absolutely certain to leave for a better side (almost any club in the world) and thus quickly landed in Corporate City Trade Zone. Naturally, his military rank is suspended, pending security clearance should he choose to re-enter later, while Supermassive Sea Dome Anarchists still recognizes him as a fellow traveler.
15 CB Hock Palisade*, 31F Dome City Raiders Image
One start in BCC, rumored to get at least one in AOCAF. Sister of Ham. A cerebral but stout and physical player, Hock is a communicative back often used as a defensive sub for DCR. Was a Navy exolinguist during the war and continues to pick up an amazing number of languages. Raiders are #3 in SDFA, #4 in SPL overall. Tied for 4th-best defense in an extremely stingy league. Hock saw some action in the Champions' Cup as well.
MIDFIELD
17 Cpl. Roll Tumbles*, 30N International City SC Image
Roll was a human lab rat for the slow aging juice during the war, and they've been on the stuff for longer than anyone else. Getting more and more playing time as he evolves into a sort of proto field commander. Expects to play at least 20 more years. Tumbles finished 3rd in the FA Cup with Chigul Stampede but their 11th place finish in SDFA put them in SPL 2, which was obviously unacceptable for the veteran. Enter ICSC with its favored status in International City meaning huge spending by the all-powerful SD ComIntern.
5 Duror Paxgint, 32N Trade Zone Nationals[/b] Image
Won FA Cup and played CWC and CC with North Xuelei MongooseImage. Fiercely independent, as might be inferred from their unusual non-translatable name. Rather grifty. Duror's war, where he cleaned burning-hot fuels and parts, tempered this somewhat but peacetime is bring it back out especially after moving to CCTZ and keeping a starting role on Mathee's Blooded Lemon Sharks.
7 Sgt. Proud Brackish*, 30N Archipelago Rangers Image (League 2)
KICK TAKER
The only AOCAF starter on a League 2 side. Scored 17 of Rangers' 2nd-best 33GS in SDFA, whose league play consisted of only 20 Casaran ties. AR are fully expected to qualify for League 1 expansion after next season, and under pressure to win League 2 outright and make a statement in SBCC to keep pace with their crossmassive rivals. A bendy kick taker, Sgt. Brackish is renowned for his taste for blood after purportedly killing several CC1 soldiers to escape the war, which broke out during his studies at HCC in the Iron Hill Zone. They actually repaired fishing equipment for the Strategic Reserve Company for the rest of the war, but this was a dangerous role and they survived frequent firebombing attempts by the Economics Army Air Force.
6 Maj. Savoy Hearken*, 31N Archipelago FC Image
Started all 3 matches in AOCAF 67 and all 3 in BCC. AFC had problems on defense in SDFA and if Sav weren't holding the line, those problems would have been a lot worse. Not the fastest but loved all over MSD for ruining attackers' days. Machinelike passer. May come in off the bench often. Military career classified.
18 Tactician** Princess* Randle, 29F International City SC Image
** Military rank. A very high one, elected.
Played for The FederationImage, in County Massive in what used to be Free South Califas. Distinguished marksman and explosives technician whose kills are all classified to prevent retaliation during the Nations Cup.
19 Cpl. Rectified Hamlet*, 28N Upper Dome Guardians Image
Scored 21 goals in league and cup, and 2 in Dome friendlies. Took full advantage of Xiu the Tactician's inverted formation, staying high on the pitch and sometimes hurting people. Loves to clean up a messy situation in front of goal. Likely to come in at some point.
20 Cpl. Tame Peace*, 27N Archipelago FC
Often involved late and scored 9 league and 6 cup goals. Exquisite training and dietary regimen but hasn't had the chance to put their mark on international affairs yet. They were a coffee technician for the Coast Guard during the war, which was actually a dangerous post since keeping supply lines maintained was a little war in itself. Don't let the name fool you either.
21 Cdr. Naomi Rushmore, 26F Sea Dome UniversityImage
Expects to come off the bench in this cycle of tournaments. Held the line and applied a high degree of creative thought and technical mastery to both playmaking and keepaway (which both come up a lot) for SDU. Has graduated in Art History after a classified career in Marine "accounting".
ATTACK
8 Captain Able Cantatrice* (CF), 28M Sea Dome UniversityImage
Well-built, solid center mid, spry as any Matrian due to the strategic reserve of age-slowing drugs. Beloved for their physical playstyle, Able is also known to exchange words after dishing piquant tackles. Postgraduate in Naval Sciences at SDU.
9 Potter Sensory* (free attacker), 29M Credit Cartel Gold Knights Image
Scored 15 of Industry CityImage's league-beating 36 GF (they also finished a respectable 10th in the FA Cup). Potter also scored with brio against Banija during AOCAF 67 and several more times in domeward competitions as well as once in BCC. A Navy chef in the war, still considered both a gifted cook and quite a mouthy leftist even by Matrian standards, his presence among the Credit Cartel in CC1 now tests the limits of the new peace. His rank has of course been suspended in order to encourage his new club to trust him.
10 Maj. Selværion, 27F North Xuelei MongooseImage (League 2)
Tall, lithe and auburn, Selv scored twice in AOCAF 67, 15 in league play for NXM, 8 in the FA Cup and more in less-competitive settings. Quite grifty actually. Military career classified.
22 Sgt. Vray Gwnes, 29M International City SC Image
Saw frequent use in AOCAF 67 in late game desperation. Scored 15 for Red Star PCImage in league play after the war, and 5 in the FA Cup, many on penalties. He has been perfect in PKs in non-competitive action for the Lemon Sharks. Dual MSD/SD ComIntern citizen; was a Communist Naval Lieutenant in the war and has a tendency to babble on about ships and fires and victory.
24 Alabaster*, 20F North Xuelei MongooseImage (League 2)
Recently graduated from NXM Academy. Also on the DBC squad where she shoots 2nd in PK. As the youngest member of the team, Alabas is the only one who has never had a military rank. Getting on the senior squad at all was some coup, and it is doubtful whether she will see action, but little is yet known about how Mathee will use his squad.

TEAM HAPILOPPER
Image

Full Nation Name: The Dominion of Hapilopper
Organization Name: Ellis Football Club, Ltd.
Trigramme: HAP
Nickname: The Haps
Team Colors: Blue, Green and White

Info:
A few years have passed since Team Hapilopper was eliminated from qualifying for World Cup 92. Team Hapilopper then declined the invitation for the ensuing Cup of Harmony, and before World Cup 93 started, Team Hapilopper, like the Hapilopper National Football Team before it, ceased to exist. This time, there wasn't any match-fixing scandal, there wasn't any scandal associated with it - the team ran out of money, sponsors weren't forthcoming and Dom Probst had pretty much given up on funding the team out of his own pocket. For a few years, the dream - that impossible dream to bring a World Cup to Hapilopper - was dead. The so-called "Team of the 90s" that Hapiloppians had hyped their squad to be ceased to be, and association football in the Dominion fell back into irrelevance, less than a decade since Hapilopper's explosive arrival onto the scene.

Many within the media viewed football in Hapilopper to be a passed fad, and media coverage started to wither away. Matches at Capital Stadium, the so-called "mother church" of sports in Hapilopper, went from packed houses and wild crowd support to empty grandstands and a mausoleum-like atmosphere. That experience was felt in stadiums across the nation as fans moved past the sport. But there was one exception to this - Garvinson. With a population of just over a half million people, Garvinson was by far the smallest metro area to house a professional sports team. And their Garvinson Trojans still had fanatical support among the fans there. And it was there that fans called for a Hapiloppian national team of some sort.

Nathan Ellis, sensing a kindred spirit, never wavered from his desire to bring a World Cup to his homeland. It hurt him so badly when the HNFT collapsed under the weight of the match fixing scandal. And it hurt him even worse when Team Hapilopper went under, taking the Hapilopper Football Association, for the most part, with it. With a desire to bring World Cup football to Hapilopper, Ellis moved to Garvinson where he hoped he could establish some form of national football team for Hapilopper, so he could compete against the world's greatest footballing powers. He knew there was a long, hard road ahead. And he knew there was much that needed to be done. But it was the only thing he wanted to do.

COACHING STAFF:
HEAD COACH: Nathan Ellis
When he was a player, Ellis, now 39, gained an unfortunate - but very well deserved - reputation as the dirtiest player in all of international football. His tenure with Nepharim side Southfell United was dotted by red cards and unfortunate incidents - including more than one punch thrown, more than one suplex performed, more than a few suspensions and ejections. But near the end of his career, Ellis gained a different reputation. It was a reputation of being a father to his men. A reputation for fighting for his players. He was turning that fiery, competitive spirit into something positive. And now he's doing more than that - as the head of Ellis Football, Ltd., he is fighting for his sport in his country. All he has ever known is football. It's kept him out of jail. It's kept him from killing people. And he wants so badly to keep this sport alive in this country. Ellis will rely on a 4-2-3-1 formation for most of the competition.

ASSISTANT COACH: Lorne Mayhew
ASSISTANT MANAGER: Dennis Billett
GOALKEEPING COACH: Mark Tillett
TRAINER: Bill Rothstein
TECHNICAL DIRECTOR: Lyndon Auditor
PHYSIO: Tab Butler
STYLE: +5

My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:
Choose my goalscorers: Yes
Godmod scoring events: TG me first, or ping me on the NS Sports Discord, and we'll talk about it
RP injuries to my players: Yes, but TG me if you want to do something serious
Godmod injuries to my players: TG me first, or ping me on the NS Sports Discord, and we'll talk about it
Hand out yellow cards to my players: Yes
Hand out red cards to my players: TG me first, or ping me on the NS Sports Discord, and we'll talk about it
Godmod other events: Yes, but TG me first
RP Coronavirus-related events: No. A RL pandemic does not exist in Hapilopper and Hapiloppians do not have it.

Stadium:
Garvinson City Stadium, Garvinson, Hapilopper
Built: 1944 | Seating Capacity: 25,300 | Open-Air | Natural Grass
For the time being, the old Mother Church in Hapilopper City is off limits. Capital Stadium management have made it clear that they, for the time being, are no longer interested in housing Hapiloppian football matches. And with Ellis Football looking to save money, they're looking to stay in their home of Garvinson - where the fans will pack out the old stadium in the middle of downtown Garvinson. It's smaller than Capital Stadium. It's more intimate than Capital Stadium. The fans are closer to the action than at Capital Stadium and they'll let the other team have it. The surface is far different from Capital Stadium's too - forget any idea of a hard artificial turf surface, Garvinson City runs on grass on a good day, or a muddy pit on a rainy day. And it rains a lot in Garvinson, too. Eventually, Ellis Football hopes to be able to return to Capital Stadium, but that time is not now.

THE PLAYERS:
Image
#1 - WESLEY NEILL | Goalkeeper | Age: 23 | Kicks: Right | twii.tur: @washwes90 | Club: Washington FC
Style of Play: Sweeper Keeper | Speed: Slow | Physicality: Low | Attitude: Clumsy
Leading the Ellis Hapilopper National Team is a certifiable klutz named Wes Neill, starting keeper for Washington FC. The good news is that he has his wits about him - for the most part - when he's on the field. And he's a fantastic keeper for the Washington team, averaging about one goal per 135 minutes of play. That's fantastic. The bad news, though, is that Wes Neill is, without question, about as clumsy as all get out away from the pitch - and occasionally that comes out when he plays. Last season, Neill inadvertently headbutted the top bar of the net trying to head a goal-scoring opportunity away from his goal. He missed, the opportunity didn't. But thankfully that doesn't happen often when he's at goal.

Image
#2 - HUNTLEY McCULLOUGH | Defenseman | Age: 24 | Kicks: Left | twii.tur: @mccullough40 | Club: Kingsland Warriors
Style of Play: Defensive Back | Speed: Fast | Physicality: High | Attitude: Asshole
On one hand, Huntley McCullough is the kind of player that gives Hapiloppian ballplayers a bad name internationally. He's rough, he's dirty, he's a complete thug with no regard for the rules or for anyone's safety. But on the other hand, Huntley McCullough is the exact kind of player that Nathan Ellis wants on his football team - after all, Huntley is much like a younger Nate Ellis - a hard tackler not afraid to lay down a cheap shot when necessary, not afraid to put his body on the line to stop the other team from scoring goals. But unfortunately, maybe Huntley could do good to leave that sort of douchebag behavior on the pitch. More than a few fans in Kingsland have told stories about how Huntley has completely blown them off - at best - and threatened bodily harm to them at worst. It's going to be interesting to see how Huntley does against international talent.

Image
#3 - AARON BLYSTAD | Defenseman | Age: 25 | Kicks: Right | twii.tur: @aaron_blystad | Club: FC Buckridge
Style of Play: Centerback | Speed: Fast | Physicality: Medium | Attitude: Relaxed
When someone looks at a modern-day Hapiloppian footballer, they might have Aaron Blystad in mind. The long hair, the muscular build, the spaceman's goggles - hang on a second. That last one may not be your typical Hapiloppian footballer trait but Blystad wears them anyway. There is no real utilitarian reason why he wears them, but he just likes the look of them. His physicality could use some work, and head coach Nate Ellis has suggested he find ways to get a little bit more vicious out there on the pitch. Specifically, that advice may or may not have involved "do something that would have gotten the police involved if you weren't playing football." This, usually, is very bad advice, but when you're trying to impress the most violent player in the history of international football, you do whatever you have to.

Image
#4 - JON KLOPPENBURG | Defenseman | Age: 23 | Kicks: Right | twii.tur: @klopper | Club: The Soldiers (Hapilopper City)
Style of Play: Centerback | Speed: Medium-Fast | Physicality: Medium | Attitude: Creative
Here in this medium, we had a hard time trying to get a read on Jon Kloppenburg. He's a nice guy, alright. He's got two pets at home that he loves very much. He is a smart man, coming up with interesting and novel ways of stopping offensive efforts. The coaching staff, both of Soldiers and of Ellis Football, wonder if Jon tries way too hard to be the "Ernie Stevenson of the Defense" - someone who can pull off some incredible moves in his playing. And Nate Ellis has to remind himself that sometimes, Ernie Stevenson's creativity and showboating pissed him off too. What does that mean? It means that someone might have to come to speak to Jon to tell him to tone it down before he completely embarrasses himself and allows a goal to score in the stupidest possible way - or if he winds up getting a straight red trying to do something cute but accidentally kicks some poor bastard right in the face trying to get the ball away from him.

Image
#5 - ROD CUTT | Defenseman | Age: 24 | Kicks: Right | twii.tur: @roddcutt | Club: Minortown SC
Style of Play: Defensive Back | Speed: Medium-Fast | Physicality: Violent | Attitude: Asshole
When Rod Cutt was graduating from high school, his classmates named him "Most likely to beat the crap out of a referee" and "Most likely to use a steel chair in a soccer match." He got Nate's attention during a Minortown-Trojans match at Garvinson City Stadium when, tired of battling for the ball with striker Mort Teeples, Rod straight up kicked him in the nuts and took the ball away. And then when the referee gave Rod a straight red for the blatant ballshot on Teeples, Rod slapped the red card out of the referee's hands and kicked him in the nuts too. Nate, watching the match from the sideline, rushed over to get Rod's attention and tried to get him to come under his wing. Nathan has made it his goal to get this guy to calm down - he's got a hell of a lot of talent, but right now has the same potential to get 15 to life for ending someone's life as he does becoming a signature member of this team.

Image
#6 - TIM RADOMIA | Midfielder | Age: 22 | Kicks: Left | twii.tur: @timradomia30 | Club: Garvinson Trojans
Style of Play: Defensive Midfielder | Speed: Medium | Physicality: Only what is necessary | Attitude: Stoner
During the offseason, if you've ever been to one of those hippie stoner rock festivals on the outskirts of Hapilopper City, where the stench of weed floats freely about the air, where jam bands play improvised 35-minute instrumentals, and where certain denizens jump naked into a nearby stream to bathe and take in the naturalness of it all, you'll find Tim Radomia, laying in a tent, fiddling around with a pipe and some crushed up marijuana - marijuana he has grown and cultivated and brought out for everyone to enjoy. It helps him relax, and he tries to bring it out to his teammates to help them chill out after a match. Good thing marijuana's legal in Hapilopper. Head Coach Nate Ellis, on the other hand, is not a fan of the leafy substance, and has asked that Tim not bring it in with him, and that he really doesn't want him smoking it before matches - you know, so he can maintain a killer instinct when he's on the pitch. Unfortunately, Tim probably didn't have that in the first place.

Image
#7 - DYLAN DEPORTE | Midfielder | Age: 22 | Kicks: Right | twii.tur: @dylansworld | Club: Peoria FC
Style of Play: Defensive Midfielder | Speed: Fast | Physicality: Medium | Attitude: Stupid
Poor Dylan Deporte. He is a fantastic midfielder for Peoria Football Club and is a key ingredient in stopping an opposing team's goal-scoring effort with a magnificent precision, while scoring a couple goals himself here and there - three last season, to be exact. But Dylan Deporte would be known as just "another midfielder who can stop a goalscoring effort" were it not for the time he accidentally scored an own goal by throwing it into the goal with his hands. That happened when visiting United Hampton Cities last year, and Stan McLamb, attempting to get the ball into the net, was stopped by Deporte, who, for some unknown reason, took the ball and heaved it into the back of the net. He may have been trying to toss it to his keeper. We don't know. Either way, there was considerable question over 1.) whether the goal should have counted, 2.) should Deporte have been sent off for a blatant handball, 3.) should Deporte have been sent off for denying McLamb an obvious goal-scoring opportunity. The answer was yes, no and no. Yes, since it went into the back of the net and no whistle was blown, no because Deporte did not benefit from the blatant handball (yeah, no shit) and no, since the goal was scored.

#8 - MIKE CAMP | Midfielder | Age: 25 | Kicks: Left | twii.tur: @mike_camp | Club: Capital City United
Style of Play: Offensive Midfielder | Speed: Fast | Physicality: Heavy | Attitude: Professional
Mike Camp, the older and more mature of the two Camp brothers, nevertheless carries much of the same attitude that his little brother Wolf carries. On the pitch, Mike can be murderous and has no objection about getting himself into card trouble, but it's all business. He'll go out there and knock an opposing player into next week, but none of that has anything to do with personal grudges. He doesn't go into matches wanting to murder someone. He goes into matches wanting to support his teammates. Those sort of violent incidents... they just happen. It's nothing personal. Unfortunately, that sort of heavy physicality can rile up opposing players. For instance, last season during the City Derby at Capital Stadium, Mike leveled Rick Bamford, who had attempted to stop Capital City striker Tim Peterson from scoring. Bamford got up, punched Mike in the face, and before you knew it, the benches cleared and the City Derby, as it usually did, had descended into all-out war. But Mike holds no ill will against Bamford, and he hopes Bamford feels the same way.

Image
#9 - RICK BAMFORD | Midfielder | Age: 24 | Kicks: Right | twii.tur: @r_bamford | Club: The Soldiers (Hapilopper City)
Style of Play: Offensive Midfielder | Speed: Fast | Physicality: Heavy | Attitude: Professional
And the good news? Rick Bamford feels the same way. After that brawl at Capital Stadium, Bamford made it a point to go over to the Capital City United clubhouse to talk things over with Mike Camp. Where there was a brief scene, Bamford had both teams call off the dogs, the two shook hands and pretty much agreed that whatever had happened, they would let it go after that was done. Bamford is another viciously physical footballer on the pitch, but he too understands that there is a time and a place for things. So you won't see him engaging in cheap shots or unnecessarily suplexing opponents. And away from the pitch, he doesn't carry grudges from match to match. He lets what happens on the pitch stay on the pitch, and instead drops by the local RetroHut store near Capital Stadium to pick up an old computer game or two, or possibly play around with an old arcade machine.

Image
#10 - BERNIE SHERMAN | Midfielder | Age: 26 | Kicks: Right | twii.tur: @bernsherm | Club: Pinkerton City SC
Style of Play: Offensive Midfielder | Speed: Medium | Physicality: Medium | Attitude: Redneck
When Nathan Ellis dropped by Pinkerton City to see Bernie Sherman, the star midfielder for that team, he had heard so much about him. 19 goals scored last year, an athletic yet physical style of play, an infectious enthusiasm that could be evident for everyone to see, Bernie had so much going for him. But then when he arrived at the stadium, five hours before match time, Bernie offered to take Nathan for a ride. Figuring a world-class footballer rode around in a nice sports car, Nathan was surprised to find a 1970s minivan with a well-built man riding a dinosaur airbrushed on the side, shag carpet lining the inside, and outlaw country music blasting from the radio. Nathan was almost put off by the scene, but decided he'd give Bernie a chance if he did well that night. He scored four goals that night. Nathan figured he'd tolerate *that* if it meant he had a star footballer scoring goals. As a side note, Bernie Sherman can double as a striker if asked. As another side note, Ellis Football has hired an interpreter so reporters can understand Bernie's very, very thick country accent.

Image
#11 - STAN McLAMB | Forward | Age: 23 | Kicks: Right | twii.tur: @mclamb11 | Club: Garvinson Trojans
Style of Play: Artistic goal-scoring | Speed: Fast | Physicality: Low | Attitude: Asshole
The thing about Stan McLamb is that he's great. He's a genius when it comes to scoring goals - scoring 35 for Garvinson last season, en route to Garvinson winning the HFA Championship. The problem with Stan McLamb is that he's great and he knows it. He wants you to know he's great. He has let his greatness come to his head, and he isn't shy about letting his teammates know that he is not only great, but he's better than anyone else. And that was, to be sure, a red flag for Nathan Ellis when he recruited McLamb. But his play, which is renowned for its intelligent dissection of defensive efforts, creative attempts at goalscoring and his immense output, has been more than enough to cancel out any sort of asshole behavior in Nathan's eyes. His hopes, obviously, is that his attitude won't put off his teammates. If it does, it could be a massive net negative for Ellis Football.

TYPICAL RESERVES:
GOALKEEPERS:
Image
#30 - GIL THORN | Goalkeeper | Age: 26 | Kicks: Left | twii.tur: @gthorn | Club: United Hampton Cities
Style of Play: Sweeper Keeper | Speed: Medium | Physicality: Low | Attitude: Stupid
Gil Thorn is one of the most efficient keepers in Hapiloppian football, averaging one goal per 115 minutes of play. And he's fantastic as stopping goals in Hapiloppian football as anyone else, maybe better. But he's a complete moron. (And we can hear some of you say 'But aren't all Hapiloppians complete morons?) He's a moron even by Hapiloppian standards. Nathan Ellis, after a particularly frightening incident on the road, refuses to ride in a car with him, and in fact, Ellis Football has asked that someone - anyone - drive Gil Thorn somewhere, rather than allow him to drive in a car. Supposedly, Gil drove Nathan and a couple of other people to a coffee shop near team headquarters in Garvinson. What happened next depends on who you talk to. Gil said his car directions app on his phone told him to take a shortcut. Nathan said Gil just plain drove the car off a wall, down a one-story drop and demolished the car. Then Gil looked at Nathan and chuckled as if it wasn't any big deal, as if he did this all the time. The next day, Gil accidentally head-butted the side net bar trying to head off a striker's shot and knocked himself out. Any idea he'd be a starting keeper was gone.

Image
#60 - ANDY THORLEY | Goalkeeper | Age: 22 | Kicks: Right | twii.tur: @andy.thorley | Club: Raceway FC
Style of Play: Sweeper Keeper | Speed: Slow | Physicality: Low | Attitude: Superstar
While Gil Thorn's problem is that "he's too damn stupid to be a starter," Andy Thorley's problem is "he's too damn full of himself to be a starter." At Raceway FC, while one of the best goalkeepers in Hapiloppian football, the general consensus about Thorley is that he has let that sort of greatness get to his head. Some players at Raceway FC have anonymously called Thorley "a clubhouse cancer" - saying that he has carried the attitude that without him, Raceway FC would be a last-place club. That Raceway FC would be nothing. "I am your star," Thorley has reportedly said. And when he came into the Ellis Football office, he rubbed Nathan Ellis the wrong way by declaring that he didn't need to have tryouts for the starting keeper position, that the best keeper in the country - no, in all of Atlantian Oceania - had just walked into his office. Unfortunately for Thorley, Nathan absolutely despises egomaniacs, and were it not for the fact that Thorley really is a good keeper, good chance that he probably wouldn't be on the team at all.

DEFENSEMEN:
Image
#21 - MATT PAYANO | Defenseman | Age: 20 | Kicks: Left | twii.tur: @matthew_payano | Club: Peoria City FC
Style of Play: Defensive Back | Speed: Medium | Physicality: High | Attitude: Professional
One of the most prominent recent graduates of Cooter Harris's School of Fine Football Learnin', Matt Payano has developed himself into one of the most exciting young defensemen in Hapiloppian football, and the signature student from Cooter's academy. It was there that Payano learned how to use his physicality to his advantage, how to take out opposing players while making it look like an accident. It was there that he learned how to completely disrupt an offensive effort and how to mess around with the other team's defenders. Payano is another one of those ballplayers that knows how to bring violence to the table, but at the end of the day, leave the violence on the football pitch. Away from the field, Payano is an avid disc golfer and enjoys spending days with his friends watching old movies.

Image
#22 - BERT HOWLEY | Defenseman | Age: 28 | Kicks: Right | twii.tur: @howleybert | Club: West River FC
Style of Play: Centerback | Speed: Medium | Physicality: Medium | Attitude: Indifferent
The general consensus about Bert Howley is that he is a good player, but not a great player, and that's all his fault. When he started out, the pundits had all the hype in the world for him. He was going to be the next great Hapiloppian defenseman. He was going to be just like Nathan Ellis, that great defenseman that brought such great fame and hatred upon the Hapiloppian team. But... he didn't do that. He didn't live up to expectations at West River FC. Now that other players have left national teams and that other players have gone to greener pastures, Bert Howley has finally been called up to, what essentially, is Hapilopper's new national football team, even though many would argue that he might be the least deserving of all the national team players. Sure enough, not many people expect Bert Howley to see playing time during AOCAF or World Cup matches, and if Ellis Football can find another player to replace him, they'll be more than happy to do so.

Image
#23 - LAKE AVALON | Defenseman | Age: 24 | Kicks: Right | twii.tur: @speedylake | Club: Surrey United
Style of Play: Centerback | Speed: Fast | Physicality: Very High | Attitude: Creative/Douchebag
Lake Avalon would be a generational talent - and theoretically could still be - if he would just take one piece of advice - and we mean one - to heart. "Don't overthink things." That's his flaw. Lake Avalon thinks he can make the ultimate play on every play when he probably doesn't need to. At all. His coaches at Surrey United have sat him down and have asked him what the hell he was thinking - was he really trying to become an internet viral sensation that folks across the multiverse would fall in love with? I mean, he was only doing a corner kick! There is a hope that, when put under Nathan Ellis's wing, Lake will have some of that hot dogness taken out of him - one way or another. And maybe, just maybe, Lake can live up to the hype that everyone has placed on him. Away from the pitch, Lake has a series of video blogs on the Veedeo site, where he and his friends provide updates on their lives - the way some cool GenZ kid does. And don't ask us to repeat that in GenZ slang because we don't know, and don't want to know, the kind of slang they use.

MIDFIELDERS:
Image
#31 - WOLF CAMP | Midfielder | Age: 21 | Kicks: Left | twii.tur: @wolfcamp | Club: Capital City United
Style of Play: Defensive Midfielder | Speed: Medium | Physicality: Yeah, thanks for asking | Attitude: Goofball
Wolf Camp, the younger and more goofy of the two Camp brothers, is one of the most recognizable faces in Hapiloppian football. Is it his quality of play? No. Is it his wild physicality on the pitch? No. Is it the fact he can stop a goalscoring effort like nothing else? No. Is it the green hair? Yes. Anyone can take a look at Wolf Camp and realize that he's "out there," so to speak. Anyone can see him lay out an opposing player and then howl at the sky like a wolf howling at the moon (something that got him punched during a match against the West Hampton Sports Club last year), and realize that this guy's probably got a screw or two loose. Someone wonders how this will play in other World Cup nations, against other international sporting powers. Will it be funny? Will the fans love it? Or will he start a riot? Some fear it will be the catalyst to another Nathan Ellis/Alexis Fotellis situation from years gone by.

Image
#32 - DIZZY VASSER | Midfielder | Age: 22 | Kicks: Right | twii.tur: @dizzy_vasser | Club: West Hampton Sports Club
Style of Play: Defensive Midfielder | Speed: Medium-Fast | Physicality: High | Attitude: Professional
It is usually a Hapiloppian thing that any time someone receives an unusual nickname as a first name, there's a story behind it. Hot Sauce Gibbs got his name due to an incident in a team shower involving a bottle of hot sauce. Cooter Harris was a complete redneck. Pancakes Taggart liked eating a lot of pancakes. Dizzy Vasser, meanwhile, tripped over himself during a match against Peoria, faceplanting the turf because he was spinning like mad trying to stop Peoria players from passing the ball between each other. It made for a delightful scene, yes, but was nothing short of embarrassing for Dizzy, who needed to be subbed off because he couldn't see straight. Thankfully, Dizzy has refined his skill and become a tough midfield threat - provided, of course, that he'll get a chance to go onto the pitch. He's also known for his talent at couch surfing - like, literal couch surfing, not crashing on someone's couch after a night of drinking. Dizzy became a viral hit last year by surfing on the waves off Kingsland Beach with the assistance of a friend's old couch, posing like an idiot before crashing into the waves.

Image
#33 - ARCH TEEPLES | Midfielder | Age: 24 | Kicks: Right | twii.tur: @archibald_t | Club: The Soldiers (Hapilopper City)
Style of Play: Offensive Midfielder | Speed: Medium | Physicality: High | Attitude: Professional
First of all, isn't "Arch" an awesome name? It caught Nathan Ellis's eye as he was watching a practice at Capital Stadium. What also caught Nathan's eye was Arch Teeples' ruthless attitude when it came to bringing forth an offensive effort - not being afraid to claw and scratch his way up the pitch, not being afraid to level a defender, not being afraid to cup-check a defender (which, not surprisingly, led to a bench-clearing brawl) and not being afraid to score goals himself. Teeples had 11 goals last season with Soldiers. It's the kind of play Nathan loves. Teeples won't back down and he won't give up. So why isn't he a starter? Simple - the competition between other midfielders is keen, and Teeples was the first best of all the reserves. That said, he'll be considered as first off the bench if needed. He understands why. He'll be there for his team, and he'll probably be there for his team in case they get in trouble.

STRIKERS:
Image
#12 - JOHN NIELSEN | Forward | Age: 25 | Kicks: Right | twii.tur: @johnnyniels | Club: North Hampton FC
Style of Play: Straightforward | Speed: Fast | Physicality: Low | Attitude: Relaxed
Johnny Nielsen is one of the very few players on the Ellis Football squad that doesn't need to take out other players, commit on-field homicide or act like a delinquent while he's playing football. Not every single Hapiloppian footballer needs to. All Johnny Nielsen does is score goals - 29 last year for North Hampton. Again, though, here's a player that could be a starter but isn't. For Johnny Nielsen, the problem is of injuries. Two years ago, Nielsen shattered his ankle after a hard tackle from Lake Avalon in Surrey. This led to some bad feelings between the two - Avalon posting a social media video blog bragging about shattering Nielsen's ankle sure didn't do that any favors either. Nielsen, if he can stay healthy, can be a key member of the Hapiloppian bench, ready to be subbed on at a moment's notice. He hopes he'll be able to, as well.

Image
#13 - MORT TEEPLES | Forward | Age: 25 | Kicks: Right | twii.tur: @mort_teeples | Club: Garvinson Trojans
Style of Play: Straightforward | Speed: Fast | Physicality: Medium | Attitude: Relaxed
First off, Mort Teeples and Arch Teeples are not related. Mort is a celebrity in the Garvinson area, as one of the two lead strikers of the Garvinson Trojans team. He scored 28 last season en route to Garvinson winning the HFA Championship, and recently was victimized by one hell of a nut shot from Rod Cutt that got Cutt suspended from the HFA for a month and named the first player on the Ellis Football squad. Mort doesn't like fighting fire with fire, and prefers his teammates do the fighting for him. Maybe that's a good thing - two years ago he was knocked out with one punch in a brawl during a Garvinson-Pinkerton match. Last year at the Center Street Pub in Hapilopper City, Mort got his ass whooped by three players from the Soldiers team before members of the Garvinson Trojans bailed him out, leading to one hell of a bar fight at Center Street and multiple arrests. Nathan Ellis has asked Mort to work on this.

Image
#14 - HOWDY MICHAELS | Forward | Age: 23 | Kicks: Left | twii.tur: @howdy_its_howdy | Club: Halsted Heat
Style of Play: Straightforward | Speed: Fast | Physicality: Light | Attitude: Professional
Howdy Michaels is not very well known outside of Halsted, the former capital of Wreckeria, but Nathan Ellis figures that could change in due time. Last year, Howdy scored 18 goals for the Halsted Heat, and this year he looks like he's on pace to score much, much more than that. He has developed slowly but surely, with Nathan wanting Howdy to develop a stronger, tougher reptutation on the pitch as someone who won't back down from anything. As the last string of strikers for Ellis Football, Howdy is not expected to see much playing time between the upcoming AOCAF and World Cup 95, and could likely be here more for development's sake. After all, these players are likely going to see plenty of playing time in the coming World Cups in the years ahead.

People's Republic of Fort McKinley

Fort McKinley's famous National Football Team will embark upon the path to World Cup 95 when they once again challenge the corrupt capitalists that rule Atlantian Oceania like petty despots, exploiting the worker for the enrichment of the disgusting ruling bourgeois elite.

The Heroes of the Revolution have fought their way against all obstacles thrown in front of them to rise above all but fifteen regional hellholes, so when the ACFOA Tournament begins, Fort McKinley will be accorded more respect than it has had in previous editions of the decadent and wasteful exhibition of capitalist pride and sloth.

All Time Record #: 37 wins, 34 defeats, 18 draws; 157 goals scored, 155 goals conceded
AOCAF Record #: 6 wins, 8 defeats, 5 draws
# The Fort McKinley Football Association disputes the validity of numerous results from WCC and AOCAF sanctioned events.

Style: 0
Ft McKinley is the classic smash & grab counterattack side.
Formation: 4-4-2/4-3-3
They will not sit back if they go down a goal but try and push with an extra player in the final third.

The non-propaganda stuff you didn't you know needed:
Nickname: "Heroes of the Revolution" is not so much a nickname as it is a brand for FMFA. The nation's animal is the Three Toed Sloth, but who wants their players referred to as the "Sloths"?
The Official Ft McK Press will experiment with calling the team the "Red Force" in addition to the Heroes.

Players/people:
Overall, the NT squad is reasonably above average compared the general population in terms of physiology, but they are still on the smallish side; the higher one's status in The Party the more likely your offspring are going to be better fed and not have such a muddy genetic pool.
The players as human beings are not super gonzo into the Revolution (most people under 30 in Ft McK are frankly borderline apathetic to it). They're not going have strong feelings about your nation's politics at all.

On the pitch they're not going to panic if they don't have possession for long periods of the match. This new batch of NT players are a little bit more athletic than the vets they replaced, but you'll never be conned into thinking it's "Just like watching Brazil".

Like most Commie regimes, obviously there is a certain amount of disconnect from reality in what the News Agency reports.

In the event my opponent RPs first, they may...

The Eshialand Soccer Federation
Baptism of Fire LXXV Champions
Roster for AOCAF LXX
Image

A new beginning for the nation has arrived.

For the past 6 years, this spot in the cycle was occupied by the Independent Associations Championship, but as of December 14th, 2027, those days were over. Eshialand rifted to Atlantian Oceania, and made a new place for themselves in their new home.

Growing pains, of course, are to be expected. This isn't exactly the same squad that played in the previous WCQ, after all. Some notable players, including Alexander Kolek and Sarah Silver, left the team after 7 cycles of service. Saying goodbye to them was going to be tough, but an end is always a new beginning, and no better time for a new beginning than the move to a new region?

What will 2028 have in store for these Owls? Well, anything can happen... but that's the fun part. Here's to today and the tomorrow to come!

First international: Aut-Ves-Nat 1-3 Eshialand (BoF LXXV)
Best win: Eshialand 5-0 The Jovannic (WCQ LXXXIX), Annyeong Oppa 0-5 Eshialand (IAC XIV), Eshialand 6–1 Mystylands (WCQ XCII), Eshialand 5–0 Rouyoute (WCQ XCII)
Worst loss: Eshialand 1-5 Sendhang (WCQ LXXXVIII), Abanhfleft 5-1 Eshialand (CoH LXXX), Eshialand 2-6 Zwangzug (WCQ XC)
Most goals for: Eshialand 6–1 Mystylands (WCQ XCII)
Most goals against: Eshialand 2-6 Zwangzug (WCQ XC)
Highest-scoring match: Squornshelan Remnant States 4-4 Eshialand (WCQ LXXXVIII), Eshialand 4-4 Felinetopia (IAC XIII), Eshialand 5-3 Kiltoch (WCQ LXXXIX), Qasden 4-4 Eshialand (pre-IAC XIV), Eshialand 2-6 Zwangzug (WCQ XC), Eshialand 5-3 Lisander (WCQ XC)

Home Stadium: The Eshialand City SuperDome, Eshialand City (capacity: 75,000).
If you're playing in Eshialand City, expect to find a cosmopolitan city at the cutting edge of modern tech, with lots of culture to take in at the same time. Maybe you could go for a bite to eat at one of the many nice restaurants, or spend a nice day with a walk by the lakeshore. There are plenty of options for things to do, so the world is your oyster. The stadium itself is a very modern facility, having been built just a year ago in response to the Owls' incredible performance in the 75th Baptism of Fire, with a retractable roof in case of nasty weather (but don't expect to use it much).

A New Land, the Same Eshialand

"Here we are... tomorrow begins here."

These words from Coach Morgan, said after the team's plane landed in Al-Tamazgha, couldn't have been said better. Eshialand was a nation very much still in flux. Only a couple months removed from the rift, when the nation and everyone in it shifted regions as if by magic, there was still a lot that had yet to be figured out, and this was going to be a great experiment. Here they were, jumping into an ocean that maybe was a little out of their depth, with a squad featuring many players close to retirement and many fresh faces who hadn't seen international competition before. This was going to be a tough ride, but it would all be worth it in the end... they hoped.

The king had promised that this move would be a good thing for the country, but even he had a hard time figuring out the new geopolitical reality. Eshialand couldn't survive without friends anymore. They couldn't just exist as they had for so long, they would have to figure out their place in the world just like they did after their independence 11 years before. They were restarting. That's what this was, no two ways about it... it wasn't going to be easy. He was going to figure it out though. Of course he was.

"Is everything alright Kaiya?" Alice Carroll asked the squad's youngest member.

At just 17, Kaiya Daniels was risking everything to make this trip to Al-Tamazgha. Her parents were worried that she was going to get into some trouble traveling abroad, but she needed to take this shot, no matter how scary it may be... although now, as the reality of this trip was setting in, it all felt too real. She wanted to go back.

"Yeah, I'm fine. I think... I hope..."

"Are you sure about that?" Alice asked again. "I know it's hard to start out on the team. I was 22 when I started here and I definitely didn't feel at home for a while... I just want you to know that we're like a family. No matter what, we have your back. We always will."

Kaiya knew that her spot in this family... was filling some rather big shoes. After all, who was it other than the elder stateswoman Sarah Silver who retired to give her that spot on the team? She wasn't good enough to replace her, right? "R-right... family..." she said, even though she really didn't feel like a part of anything yet.

Back in Eshialand City...

"Oh hi Michael... what sorts of meetings do we have today..."

Every day, day in and day out, were meetings for the king. Luckily the Prime Minister was helping him share some of the load, but after something like the rift, that was a MASSIVE load, with everything from forging new geopolitical connections to commissioning new maps of Eshialand's new spot in the universe. There was a lot of work that went into making this move possible and the work didn't seem to be letting up any time soon.

"Actually, Will... I've scheduled today as a extra day off. Since it's Friday today anyway, it'll be a nice long weekend for you."
"A day off? Whatever happened to the work that has to get done?"
"Please, everyone needs time off, you know that and I know that. Go spend some alone time, get some writing done, take your girlfriend to dinner, anything that will help take your mind off of the post-rift shenanigans. The Prime Minister will get some of those meetings done and you can relax. No headaches, only relaxation."

With the Owls' first game in the AOCAF being the next day, he knew exactly how he was going to spend this long weekend. "Michael?"
"Hm?"
"Get a plane ready to take me and Summer out to Al-Tamazgha... I wanna see the team play again, like the good old days..."
Anything I say is IC unless proven otherwise by a court of law.

┤ THE ROSTER ├

44- HAMADA Roshi
Height: 181cm - Weight: 90kg – Age: 27 years old - Team: Concord Dusk AFC

After signing a three year, ¥15 million contract with Concord Dusk AFC, Hamada Roshi has essentially made it as a goalkeeper in Gyatso-kai. Coming onto Concord Dusk to backup the aging Kjotvi Bar’kad is no easy assignment, however, with most analysts seeing Bar’kad retiring sooner rather than later, Hamada may see himself starting for the Black & Gold.

A player who developed an odd style in the Fire Nation, Hamada is known for stepping way in front of the net and attempting to use his physique to stop an offensive player before getting to the ball. Many attribute this odd quirk to Hamada and his twin brother Yoshi having grown up playing ice hockey; whereas Roshi would go on to find his love in football, his brother Yoshi continues to attract scouts on the ice at the University of Kyoko in the Fire Nation. Equally adept at his position as a younger Kio’los, the 2021.3 Campaign has already seen Hamada start in net twice for the Bisons; during the first victory over Ko-oren and the nil-all draw against Mertagne.

Starting World Cup XC as the backup to Armok Hikari, Hamada earned the starting position after a pair of losses which saw Armok pulled. In his first start of the campaign, Armok saved 27 shots on net and allowed zero goals against Omerica, and would go on to a 4-1-1 record for the World Cup before a stomach bug would take him out for the remainder of the tournament. After Armok retook the starting position, though, the Bisons fell flat, losing three straight matches to end the tournament on a sour note.

This resulted in Hamada gaining the starting position permanently, including in the last AOCAF 69, which saw the Bisons reach the Final for the first time in history. In what was supposed to be his crowning moment as starter, Hamada would suffer a twisted ankle in the twenty-third minute of the game, and would be replaced by Lee Findao. Unfortunately, with the game tied at 3-all, the Squornshelan side would out-maneuver and outplay the Avatarian defence and put two balls behind Lee to gain their first AOCAF Victory, and the Bisons’ first second-place finish.

31- LEE Findao
Height: 191cm - Weight: 94kg – Age: 25 years old - Team: Royal Flames

An incredibly young and underdeveloped player – at least in terms of multi-verse play – Lee Findao took the Avatarian Football world by surprise when it was announced after The Combine that they would be taking the Reserve Position on the National Team ahead of suspected replacement Pao Lishin. Such a surprise that on the day the rosters were set to be announced, Lee had already packed themselves up and was boarding a transport out of the National Sports Complex.

Not the most confident way to start your journey to the AOCAF Cup…

With a collegiate style typical of players his size – wide stance, quick to try and muscle defenders out of the ball, and making saves from deep out of the net – we can only hope that has time goes on, Lee will continue to mature under the tutelage of Nishimura on the National Team. Though, with the fall of Armok Hikari from the graces of the Starting XI, we saw Lee gain his first appearance on the National Team, subbing in for Hamada after he began to experience stomach cramps in the eventual 4-2 loss against Valanora. Facing twelve shots, Lee only allowed one in, which unfortunately was the game-winning goal that sent the team home early.

Nothing he could have done…

Now with Armok no longer on the national team, Lee has stepped into the full-time back-up. With a twenty-one game tournament, expect Lee to get in some reps whenever the Ice Bisons are facing a less-than-threatening opponent. During AOCAF 69 – where the Bisons made their first Finals appearance in history – Lee played four key games for the Bisons; the opening victory over Milchama where the game went to penalty kicks, a 2-nil shutout against Mlima Kijani when facing elimination, the Round of Sixteen victory over Kimi-Suomi, as well as the semifinals in which, for the third time the Bisons faced Milchama, and finally won outright 3-2.

Expect to see Lee in net much more often.

Travelling With the Team

Name Age Team Nation .
PAO Lishin 25 Mando FC Earth
TSUTSAMA Yen 22 Gaoling UNION Fire
TSUNADE Ki’sae 21 Kyoshi State University Mandalorian

As had been done under Vhett, Head Coach Tay’haai has instituted a Travelling Corps so as to bring young and upcoming players along with the Bisons to show them what Multiverse Play is all about. Pao Lishin, still a bit bitter about being passed over last World Cup and now for AOCAF, is a surprise to see return on the travelling corps. Last campaign, it was reported that Pao spent most of the practice days away from the other members of the goalkeeping unit; in the weeks leading up to the AOCAF Cup, it is being reported he is talking more with Goalkeeping Coach Nishimura Kenshin.

Tsutsama Yen, is a relative newcomer to the multiverse; having a somewhat average season at UA, he came to the National Team tryouts before World Cup 87 and put up some impressive physical numbers through the Combine, and thus found his way onto the Corps. Showing great promise as a younger player, he signed on with Gaoling Union after graduation and has already begun to cement himself as a strong back-up to franchise keeper Mit Wasan’i.

With the promotion of Lee Findao to Reserve, the third spot on the Corps was awarded to Tsunade Kise, a young Mandalorian keeper out of Kyoshi State. At 21-years-of-age, he is set to graduate following this campaign cycle, though it is uncertain where he will wind up. Tsunade has shown a similar style to the former Bison Aki Kio’los, and of the three members of the Travelling Corps, he is the most likely to see promotion.

Left Defenders:
16- TERCAR Shuajo
[i]Height: 180cm - Weight: 84kg – Age: 31 years old - Team: Mando FC

Tercar Shuajo, who signed a four-year contract with Mando FC after graduating from Northern University, has added 8kg to his frame in muscle, yet still retains his speed. A very quick and agile defender, Tercar uses his feet and agility to outmaneuver most other players instead of relying on sheer mass to take away a ball, a tactic he learned from pairing with Itawaku during exhibition games prior to World Cup 86.

Now into his fourth campaign as starting defender, Tercar is looking to further cement himself into the team. With both Hashimoto Isamiru and Somchai Kikwan both growing older with every passing game, soon it may be time for Tercar to take his speed and agility to the centre of the pitch. Tercar bares the distinction of being one of only two players to score a goal during the last AOCAF – the lone goal against Vilita & Turori on the opening day of the tournament.

Unfortunately for Tercar, an upper body strain took him out of World Cup XC for four games, as well as the four games of AOCAF 66. He did not play in World Cup XCI and XCII, and given the average performance of the defence during XCIII, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Haru call him up at AOCAF.

12- PAM Kai
Height: 183cm - Weight: 86kg – Age: 29 years old - Team: Senlin Timbers

Formerly the backup to the Beast of the North, Pam Kai spent five tournaments in the shadow of Itawaku, hoping to one day earn the starting spot from him or to replace him. However, at the tryout camp, it was Tercar Shuajo who shined, and received the Starting Spike from Tay’haai. Following another lackluster season in Senlin, Pam has shown himself to be a perennial backup defender; though this time, he has been kicked out of the limelight by a former classmate and teammate of his from Northern University… One has to wonder how that will play out during the tournament.

26 – Khánh KA’LOMI
Height: 190cm - Weight: 94kg – Age: 27 years old - Team: Island FC

A young Southern Watertribesman who signed a professional contract with Island FC at just 20-years-of-age, Khánh Ka’lomi is already making waves in the Avatarian sports community. With an impressive size for such a young player, many see him as the next Itawaku, and some have already started calling him “The Beast of the South”. In his first season at Island FC, Ka’lomi put up impressive numbers for a defencemen; ending his season with the highest involvement in goals by a defender with 2 goal and 7 assists to go with 6 clean sheets.

In World Cup XC, an upper body strain for Tercar Shuajo would see Ka’lomi moved into the Starting XI, and given the performance of Tercar following that strain – as well as him sitting out the last two tournaments – it seems likely that Wong has decided to trust the youthful Watertribesman to fill in and to succeed Pam Kai on the left side.

Not sure how Pam is going to take this one…

Central Defenders
5- HASHIMOTO Isamiru
Height: 178cm - Weight: 75kg – Age: 40 years old - Team: Ba Sing Se UNITED

One of the most highly-rated player for the Bison defence, Hashimoto Isamiru, or “Hashi” as he is loving called by fans, has shown himself to be a very valuable asset to the team. A strong defensive player who often falls in to a full-back position, Hashimoto has made great strides in improving his passing and marking skills since he was traded to Ba Sing Se UNITED from Keldabe FC after a very disappointing season which saw Kelabe not advance to the playoffs for the first time in five years.

However, as time as worn on, so too as age on Hashimoto. Having turned 40 just before AOCAF 69, many have been calling for Hashi to step down gracefully and retire for several campaigns. However, in multiple interviews through consecutive campaigns, Hashimoto has given no sign of slowing down or even stepping down.

Five goals in the last World Cup proves he still has it.

15- UTHAN A’den
Height: 185cm - Weight: 83kg – Age: 28 years old - Team:FC Beijing

A large and physically imposing player, Uthan A’den does not play a very physical game like Auranaq or Hashimoto, but instead proves himself to be one of the fastest players on the team; one who uses that speed to outpace and overtake many of his opponents. Less prove to tackle and trip, and more likely to simply run up from behind and steal the ball mid-dribble, expect to see Uthan engaging opponents closer to the net than you will be comfortable with from previous Bisons campaigns.

Having reached his century mark during the 6-2 win at home against The Juniper Union during World Cup 88 – and also scoring his first multiverse hat trick – Uthan became one of the youngest players to reach the milemark, following in the footsteps of Akiyama Qiangyu and Bralor Kotyc’e to reach a century before 25.

And given his presence, Uthan is expected to play for a very long time.

15- Ganham Ri’om
Height: 175cm - Weight: 70kg – Age: 29 years old - Team: Concord Dusk AFC

Though not as fast as Uthan, Ganham Ri’om is a full-back more focused on the offence, who uses his skill with the ball to often drive the offence from the backfield. Though Ganham can have some minor difficulties when tasked with defence (given that he played his entire career at Hatsu State as a offensive midfielder before switching to defence when drafted), he is a very dedicated player and works hard to improve where he knows there are weakness.

CAPS: 90 :: GOALS: 30 :: TOURN. PLAYED: AOCAF 59-60, 64-67,WC 84-93, CoH 79, 82, Eagles Cup XI

Right Defenders:

3- SOMCHAI Kikwan
Height: 187cm - Weight: 83kg – Age: 37 years old - Team: Itakawai City

While certainly not the oldest player in the defence, Somchai Kikwan does serve as the counterpoint to Uthan’s youthful excitement. Having graduated from Kyoshi State, Somchai is very familiar to the style of play Uthan is used to, and the two of them communicate very well on the side of the field. Very adept at playing the middle of the field, when pushed to the right side, Somchai is quick to adapt and has the endurance and stamina to keep up with the demands.

Having made his multiverse debut in World Cup 85, Somchai has continued to play through a nagging lower body injury up until World Cup 90; utlising traditional medicine as well as playing an on-off schedule which allowed Huang Aodhan and Taoru Adeen to garnish some of the limelight, Somchai has made a full return to the line-up, and will likely break the century-and-a-half mark during this campaign.

CAPS: 168 :: GOALS: 53 :: TOURN. PLAYED: AOCAF 63-67, WC 85-93, CoH 79, 82, Eagles Cup XI

23- HUANG Aodhán
Height: 183cm - Weight: 84kg – Age: 31 years old - Team: Makapu ERUPT

With Mi’rez Yiman retiring, Huang Aodhán would find himself moving up on the list of right defenders. Signed onto a Taap-A team right out of college, Huang was quick to mature and found his way onto the Makapu ERUPT three season ago. A quick study, he adapted well to his new team and soon made it to their starting eleven. Huang is a natural athlete, with impressive speed and stamina to match, and we can expect to see that natural athleticism on display as the tournament wears on and fatigue sets into the Starting Eleven.

15 – Tarou ADEEN
Height: 189cm - Weight: 90kg – Age: 29 years old - Team: Royal Flames

With the retirement of a couple of the Bisons’ core defenders, the Travelling Corps has produced another potential feature player in the form of Tarou Adeen. A product of both the Royal Fire Developmental Programs as well as serving under the tutelage of Fujimoto Zhong at Omashu State, Adeen is sure to see his number called in future tournaments, especially as players like Somchai continue to add years to their career. Though, unlike Somchai, Adeen brings more size to the right; standing at just under 190cm and weighs a little under 90kg. Combine that size with his speed and vision on the pitch, and you have a defender who can knock an opponent off course and redirect a ball to a forward without even lifting his head from his target. As with others in the lower levels of the team, expect to see Adeen as the tournament progresses.

Travelling With the Team

Position	Name Age School / Team Nation |
RD KATO Zhao Ling 23 Enceri FC Mandalorian
RD YAMADA Goro 22 Ba Sing Se UNITED Fire
CD ZHOU Hiroto 22 Concord Dusk AFC Earth

The Travelling Corps for Defense is all small trio of defenders who are all potential future Bisons.

Kato Zhao Ling, who graduated from Enceri University and signed an entry-level two-year contract with FC She Pass, is coming off his first RPFL All-Star selection and a third-place finish in the 2021.1 Season, having been traded to Enceri FC before the end of his contract and signing on an entry-level single-year bridge pending the conclusion of the 2021.3 Season. Yamato Goro surprised the football world upon graduation, having signed with Ba Sing Se over Itakawai; Yamato is certainly being watched to replace either of the aging defencemen in Hashimoto and Somchai. Zhou Hiroto, who helped Kibago University win their third consecutive Earthen Shield tournament in five years, also is vying for an eventual spot on the national roster after signing an entry-level two-year contract with Concord Dusk AFC.

Defensive Midfielders:

7- TAKAHASHI Hikaru
Height: 178cm - Weight: 76kg – Age: 42 years old - Team: Northern AFC

A strong defensive midfielder. Takahashi Hikaru’s strength lies in his kicks; easily able to send a ball soaring across the pitch with surprising accuracy, Takahashi is known for feeding the ball to the strikers and catching many opposing defences off-guard. He often has great vision, and he is easily able to read the play and can adapt accordingly.

Now, Takahashi has to step into a new role, as the oldest player on the team. With the retirement of so many of his fellow over-30 players, some feel the pressure is on Takahashi to produce more in this upcoming World Cup Campaign… or hang up the Number Seven jersey for the last time. Though, given his performance during World Cup XC and XCI, it is likely Takahashi will continue to play. After all, he is the first player in the Modern Era to achieve a double-century in caps; specifically as he took the pitch against Zeta Reka & Hufeltaldom, and scoring the only goal of the match for the Bisons.

6- MA Haijiang
Height: 187cm - Weight: 85kg – Age: 37 years old - Team: Northern AFC

Former Head Coach Tay’haai made the unusual selection of having both of his defensive midfielders come from the same team, for reasons most can ascertain…. And it’s a decision that Head Coach Wong Haru continued with. A proven veteran on the pitch, Ma Haijiang complements Takahashi’s strong kicks and accuracy with the speed to overcome most opponents; if he can not strike a ball deep, Takahashi will often send a volley up to Ma who will then run it into the offensive zone before lasering the ball to an open forward. Expect to see either Ma or Takahashi in the assist column for plenty of goals.

Though, now with both players into their 30s, and many calling for younger blood to take the reigns, one has to wonder how much longer the ‘Northern Duo’ will continue to play together… or worse, who will be the first to retire… Yet, earning his double-century just five games after Takahashi’s – a 2-nil game against Bears Armed – seems to have energized the older midfielder. And with a stomach bug taking Takahashi out of three games, Ma has pulled ahead in the all-time lead for caps.

17- YOSHIDA Arata
Height: 177cm - Weight: 80kg – Age: 33 years old - Team: Royal Flames

Yoshida Arata is a dedicated player who has worked incredibly hard to make his way to the national team; having spent several months training with one of the greatest Avatarian midfielders to ever play the game, Bralor Kotyc’e. Time spent with Bralor has proven to greatly improve his game, seeing Yoshida climb up the ranks during the Trials for the national team. Though he has predominantly been a backup for his entire career thirteen tournaments, Arata has managed to amass ninety-two caps, and given the length of the Cup of Harmony, expected to reach the century during it. The only question will be whether he reaches that mark as a substitution or as a starter.

Though, Yoshida is not a player you will often notice. He is not one for showboating, and very rarely makes a goal or garnishes an assist. Instead, he focuses his time on the pitch by setting up the offense for a great pass, a decisive tackle that often swings the game’s momentum, or just being able to intercept the ball at the most opportune time. One of the best midfielders in the Southern Conference of the RPFL, Yoshida is sure to see time on the pitch by relieving Takahashi or Ma in the later games of the competition.

Neutral Midfielders:

18- HISAKAWA Si Woo
Height: 183cm - Weight: 84kg – Age: 35 years old - Team: Senlin Timbers

An extremely technical midfielder, Hisakawa Si Woo is not one to shy away from trying for goals. More adept at reading the play and setting up his forwards, Hisakawa is a bit more impatient than one would like, and he posseses the speed and agility to run through a good defence and find the back of the net on occasion. He is also the only player on the Bisons who is currently unsigned; his contract with the Taap-A team Omashu Athletic ended after AOCAF LX, and with nothing really to showcase his worth, Omashu Athletic chose to not sign Hisakawa; a fact that has certainly hurt his morale going into the last World Cup. However, an impressive showing, including four goals at WC 85, saw Hisakawa sign a two-year contract with the Senlin Timbers just days after the completion of the group stage.

Attacking Midfielders:

8- YU Shichiro
Height: 183cm - Weight: 85kg – Age: 32 years old - Team: Keldabe FC

With a very offensive-minded footballing style, Yu Shichiro works as the last link between the midfield and the offence. Much like Hisakawa, Yu has been known to even advance from the midfield to score quite a few key goals in pivotal games, including the 2019.2 Ve’vut Cup winning goal against Concord Dusk AFC. He has a powerful long shot and is exceptional at heading, both of which are aided by his height. However, as skilled as he is in offense, Yu still prefers to pass the ball up to forwards for an assist in a goal as opposed to being the star player.

11- GUANYU Jun
Height: 185cm - Weight: 81kg – Age: 28 years old - Team: Omashu Athletic (Taap-A)
A very creative midfielder, Guanyu Jun is very capable of making plays on the fly; with great vision and quick feet, he often can set up his forwards for a great goal or keep the ball moving through the middle. Though having graduated from Heibai University right after AOCAF 59, Guanyu was making his way into the Starting Eleven before being displaced by Yu Shichiro in WC 62. However, tenancity as always been one of Guanyu’s strength, and thanks to the offensively-minded playstyle employed by Head Coach Wong, Guanyu has easily solidified himself into the Starting Eleven; often pushing out of the midfield and into an extra attacker at times.

14 – Fei’kao SONG
Height: 185cm - Weight: 81kg – Age: 27 years old - Team: FC Mando

Relatively young when compared to his teammates, Fei’kao Song chose to forgo his collegiate career, getting drafted by FC Mando the day before his twentieth birthday. Despite all the fanfare of his first season behind him, Song has not had a promising start to his sophomore season. Given his still-developing skills in midfield, his is seen as a comparatively weak player and often spends more time with the coaching staff than other more-seasoned players. Song, much like Hisakawa, is a technical player by nature whose greatest asset is not in his aim or power, but in the art of dribbling which he uses at every opportunity. While more prone to provide assists on plays as opposed to goals, Song has proven himself through Trials to Tay’haai and earned a spot on the National Team, albeit a reserve position.

Mostly comprised of Water Tribesmen, the Midfield Travelling Corps is a grabbag of talent. From the University of the Northern Tribes come home-grown Inoue Anernerk, who at just like his father, the famed Inoue Kuruk, completed back-to-back double-digit scoring seasons in his last two seasons of college; impressive for a man who is supposed to be on the defensive midfield. From UST, Kal Itowa mirrors the success of Inoue, though a career less filled with goals and more with assists. Penlu Saito, a young player from the developmental Chomain State Academy, hopes to see a professional contract within the year, and with such a great season in the ADFL, you can be sure he will at least entertain some good offers. Out of the University of Kibago, Shao Mi’ka is a relatively quiet player who has had offers from both Gaoling Union and Senlin Timbers. Dik Up’lis rounds out the Travelling Corps, bringing from Omashu State a drive for excellence many teams would love to have, even if it comes with a bit more maturing to be fostered.

9 - Dag’da SKIRATA

Height: 185cm - Weight: 85kg – Age: 31 years old - Team: Ba Sing Se UNITED

From the fabled and illustrious Skirata family, Dag’da Skirata continues to show why the Skirata’s are the most famous Avatarian family in sports; from his grandfather Kad coaching the Men’s National Ice Hockey Team to his father A’den’s 59 goals in 190 caps for the Bisons, Dag’da has some massive shoes to fill. Though his youthful energy often times shows itself in classic mistakes, Skirata is able to power his way through many the defender and be it by foot or by head, he finds the net more often than not. Earning his century in the abysmal Cup of Harmony 79, Skirata hopes to redeem himself in the next campaign set to begin in Atlantian Oceania. In-between the 2021.1 and 2021.2 Campaigns, Skirata has shocked much of the Avatarian Sports world, forgoing the expected signing with his hometown FC Itakawai and signing with their interleague rival Ba Sing Se United for an undisclosed amount; however, the six-year contract is likely one of the most expensive to be signed in recent memory.

Skirata managed to score his one-hundreth goal in World Cup 90; the go-ahead and eventual winning goal against Damukuni on matchday ten. Four more goals throughout the tournament showed that he has put the dryspell of World Cup 89 behind him, and with a pair during the 82nd Cup of Harmony and a pair during the last AOCAF, many are of the mind that Skirata has returned to his stride.

10 - SONG Kaoru
Height: 178cm - Weight: 74kg – Age: 31 years old - Team: FC Mando

Much like Skirata, Song Kaoru comes from a sports-centric family; with his father a coach in the RPFL, his mother a third-line winger for the Ice Bisons and his younger brother the star goalkeeper for Itakawai City, fans and critics have come to expect nothing but greatness from Song. They have certainly not been disappointed in domestic play, with Song showing a near-effortless game on the pitch. Dodging defenders as if they were standing still, sniping balls past nets which might as well have been empty, Song has quickly become the media’s favorite player... especially with how he loves to be interviewed.

29- LI Yuuta
Height: 185cm - Weight: 85kg – Age: 32 years old - Team: Island FC

Older than both of the starting forwards, Li Yuuta also finds himself the oldest member of the Forward Corps. Playing the last six seasons in Island FC, Li has continued to develop as a well-rounded secondary striker; able to shield the ball from the other team and hold them off long enough for either of the Bisons’ primary stikers to get into position for a great shot. Li is very adept at striking himself, having led Island FC in Goals Scored last season.

19 - KIM Vinh Lành
Height: 185cm - Weight: 80kg – Age: 28 years old - Team: Island FC

A seasoned pivot man through five seasons at Island FC, Kim Vinh Lành is known for his ability to read the pitch and place himself ahead of a ball to bring in an attempt --- even if the pass is terrible --- through his excellent ball-handling skills. Albeit not the most conditioned player, with stamina that often finds him at the back of the pack during running exercises, Kim makes up for his endurance with incredibly fast bursts to the goal.

┤ COACHING STAFF ├

Head Coach: WONG Haru
Height: 185cm – Weight: 88kg – Age 54 years old – Team: FC Itakawai, Assistant General Manager

Once a star defender for the Bisons, following his retirement from national and multiverse play, Wong Haru made a name for himself with a brief stint in coaching professionally; first as a Defensive Coach for Solus FC for two years and then FC She Pass for another four. However, when Wakahisa Hikaru – whose infamous knee injury in the championship game for the Republic Chalice brought the nation to tears and ended his professional career – called Wong, as the General Manager for FC Itakawai, to hand him the reigns of the infamous team right when they shifted ownership, it was a call Wong could not pass up. Being the head coach of one of the RPFL’s best teams for nearly 8 years truly honed his knowledge of the game as well as his abilities to analyze and coach players to greatness, all before he was promoted within to the role of Assistant General Manager under Wakahisa. After being both a player, a captain, positional coach, head coach, and assistant general manager, the only two roles left for Wong were to be either the National Team Head Coach, and the President of the ALAF. Thanks to Tay’haai - who brought Wong on as the assistant coach for the team back at the start of his tenure - one goal was finally achieved.

Head Medical Officer: Doctor FONG Jintao
Height: 190cm – Weight: 82kg – Age 39 years old
Following the retirement of Wen Wuchin after the 85th World Cup, the much-younger Doctor Fong Jintao replaced the “Ol’Doc” as he was so lovingly referred to as by the team. Having served through the Grand Army of the Republic, Doctor Fong is a veritable successor to the Ol’Doc’s history as the last member of the Old Guard – all staff appointed by former-Head Coach and now Director Boba Vhett. When not travelling with the team, Fong carries the rank of Captain, First Class and serves in the 501st Legion in the First Territorial Army, stationed in Republic City; specifically, he is a resident Surgeon within the Third Avatarian Guard, and is seen as a competitor for the soon-to-be-vacated position of Head Assistant Surgeon in the Capital Medical Facility, thanks to another former member of the Old Guard retiring from that post.

Security Chief: Captain AKAAN (RC-4868)
Height: 190cm – Weight: 90kg – Age: 48 years old CHRONOLOGICAL (62 years old BIOLOGICAL)
A clone officer within the Grand Army of the Republic, RC-4868 was appointed Chief of Security for the National Team in 2011.1. Each time the team travels abroad --- so long as he is not engaged in a mission --- RC-4868 is pulled from service and placed into the spotlight of security. He is battle-hardened, having been raised since birth for war and combat, and as such often views these assignments with true boredom. The seven men he brings with him on assignment share the same sentiments of the ‘mission’, however, their ‘unwaivering loyalty’ to the Republic prevents any negative speak during the assignment. Each is a member of the Avatarian Guard, whose sole responsibility is to defend the Avatar at both home and abroad; this protection then extends to all sports teams travelling beyond the borders of the Five Nations.

Director of the National Team & President of the ALAF: HIS RIGHT HONOURABLE VHETTBoba
Age: 76 – Time in the job: 9 Years (38 )

Once the longest serving Head Coach in Avatarian History – with a record spanning 261 games, ten World Cups and multiple other multiverse competitions – it was only right for Vhett to step into the role of President of the Avatarian Leagues of Association Football. Having brought a team from nothing to the quarterfinals in 8 World Cups is not something to look away from, and although his career was tarnished slightly by the final performances of the Bisons – going 5-7-1 in his last World Cup – Vhett is confident that soon glory will be returned to the Avatarian Republics, although initial performances in all seven tournaments to date have been far from promising.

┤ GROUP STAGE SCHEDULE ├

.:: COMING SOON ::.

┤ PRIMARY FORMATION ├

Image

While under Tay’haai and Vhett, the Bisons utilized the modern standard of the 4-4-2 Formation. Giving the Bisons a strong midfield presence while pairing two quick strikers – in the last cup being Skirata and Song Kaoru – the 4-4-2 allowed many of the Bison games to keep low goals for an opponent while giving them a chance to rack up high goals.

Unfortunately, that wasn’t always the case…

Under Head Coach Wong Haru, the Bisons have taken out the second forward and replaced them with a stronger midfield presence in what is known as a 4-5-1 Formation. Usually taken by teams wanting to secure a lead, the 4-5-1 is often seen as a more ‘defensive minded’ formation. The extra midfielder – in this case Hisakawa Si Woo – often will float between a defensive position and a support position for the remaining forward. In choosing the speed of Skirata over the accuracy of Song Kaoru, Interim Coach Wong is giving up offensive capability to shore up defence. Especially considering that Song was the lead goal-scorer in the last World Cup, the focus on a slightly-younger Skirata may be a look to the future and keep Song on standby should the offence need a boost.

Head Coach: ISHII Hakoda
Height: 193cm – Weight: 93kg – Age 50 years old – Team: University of Adirolf, Head Coach

The leader in Caps, Goals, and Assists for the National Team, Ishii Hakoda was selected to lead the Ice Bisons out of The Silence and into the new era! While he has not yet to manage to capture the same magic as the venerable Kad Skirata had when the Ice Bisons first ever showed up on the Multi-Verse Stage, Ishii continues to hold the confidence of the National Sports Council. After a successful Third Place campaign in World Cup XL, the Ice Bisons have continued to advance out of the Group Stage in every edition since; including the first feather in the cap of Ishii Hakoda, the Champions of World Cup of Hockey XLIV. Following that victory, Ishii pushed the Bisons into back-to-back Silver Medals at the Atlantian Oceania Hockey Championships, as well as the second consecutive World Cup Championship at World Cup of Hockey XLV. A triumphant return to World Cup of Hockey XLVI saw the Ice Bisons set out on the quest to win three consecutive World Cups for the first time in the team’s history.

Margaret had other plans…

After a rocky World Cup Campaign in the Forty-Sixth Edition – in which the Bisons fell to Nova Anglicana in the Quarterfinals – the Ice Bisons would seemingly redeem themselves by climbing back through the ranks of the multi-verse and come in third place with a statement victory over Kelssek after a shootout loss to eventual second-place Banija (who would be shut out in the final by the Cinderella of the Tournament in Trollborg). Coming into the Forty-Eighth Edition of the World Cup, immeasurable pressures were sure to turn the team into the diamonds of the multi-verse, winning their third tournament in five tournaments and establsihing the Avatarian Dynasty.

The question remains... how long with the dynasty last...

Head Medical Officer: Doctor FONG Wuchin
Height: 186cm – Weight: 84kg – Age 53 years old

A graduate of the pristine Royal Academy of Medicine in Imperial City, Fong Wuchin enters his sixth campaign as the Head Medical Officer for the Ice Bisons. Having earned multiple degrees in Sports Medicine, General Surgery, Kinesiology, as well as holding two Traditional Medicine Certifications, 'The Tin Doc' as he is loving referred to as is more than capable of addressing any and all health concerns that can arise with a team as culturally diverse as the Ice Bisons. Much like most doctors for the National Teams, Fong served before college in the Republic Defence Focre; specifically in the Republic Navy as a Corpsman. After his mandatory service, Fong entered in college before earning his intial medical degree from the RAoM; afterwhich, he would accept a commission into the Navy where he would work his way up to the Head of Medicine at the Republic Naval Academy based in Yu Dao. Currently holding the rank of Commodore, Fong oversees much of the education appointments within the Republic Naval services, as well as conducting leading research in the areas of Sports Medicine and how it can be applied on the field.

Security Chief: First Lieutenant BEVIIN (CL-23-0192)
Height: 180cm – Weight: 84kg – Age: 20 years old CHRONOLOGICAL (30 years old BIOLOGICAL)

Given the occurrence of Atlantian Oceania's regional tournaments for both football and gridiron - both of which Gyatso-kai as sent delegations - at the same time as the World Cup of Hockey, the usual assignment of Captain Akaan and his detachment of 'Security Assistants' was not available to Head Coach Ishii and the Ice Bisons. Instead, First Lieutenant CL-23-0192 of the Besh Company within the First Avatarian Guard was assigned by The Avatar to oversee security for the Ice Bisons as they travel to the Anaia Region for the first time since the Foxchester Declaration on his first National Assignment. Two tournaments later, and given his favor with Ishii, CL-23-0192 was kept on for World Cup XLVI and will likely continue for the foreseeable future.

A younger trooper than Akaan, CL-23-0192 (known as 'Beviin') is what is called a "standard trooper', in that his armor and training is not as specialised as that which Akaan -- being a Commando -- received. His personality is also a bit less 'militarised'; this leads to a bit more 'personal approach' to the job, which Beviin took with delight whereas Akaan often looks to the security detail jobs as "calm" and "boring". Nonetheless, should any issue arise that Beviin feels uncomfortable, Akaan will be but a comline away for advice.

OFF 21 HOSAKA Severi 26 R Drotenfao College Seifoss Miners [FKI, Arendalle]
OFF 49 SONG Unataq (C) 38 R University of Adirolf Gaoling Bears

After replacing the “Permacrete Wall” in Shu Pianhuo in World Cup of Hockey XLIV, the young Norgbralan Ming Zhangshi has earned quite the reputation for himself; three tournaments as the goalkeeper, two World Cup trophies added to his pedigree. Unfortunately for Ming, in the Forty-Sixth Edition, the offense of the team simply could not back him up consistently enough; with a 2.5 GAA and a tournament 0.934 Save Percentage, the single loss of the tournament was a single-goal.

And after World Cup XVII, the team came back with a vengenance…

The defensive pair for the first line remains the same since WCoH XLI, with Omashu-fan-favorite Watang Kouji paired with Hed Torvik of Itakawai fame. A defensive line with over 200 kilos is somewhat of an Avatarian tradition, where speed is often sacrificed for power, though even for their size, Avatarian hockey players tend to be faster than one would expect. Watang, out of the Fire Nation, is known for powerful forechecks and his insane speed on the backskate; while Hed, otherwise known as the “Mandalorian Shield”, is just as impressive at generating offence as he is pushing another player into the boards.

The forward line, albeit a bit old, is anchored by the youthful Hosaka Severi, who recently was traded from Gaoling to the Seifoss Miners in the Imperial Hockey League in Arendalle; with his blinding speed on the ice, Hosaka has been a great asset for assisting on the wings and driving offense with the Avatarian standard of dump and play. Kobushi Kaede, unfortunately, suffered a season-ending concussion shortly after the AOlympics, and was not cleared for World Cup play. In his place, Bar’cay Godorow has been promoted from the Reserves to take the place of such an integral part of the Ice Bisons’ success over the years. Godorow is a very physical defenseman who plays remarkably aggressive for his age; he is as adept at boarding an opponent as he is taking a puck deep in the opponent’s zone and firing off a one-timer which finds the back of the net more frequently than not. Song Unataq, who has always been more defensively-minded, continues the trend of the line to be more interested in keeping puck possession and breaking up offensive rushes through size and determination. While Song stated in many an interview before World Cup XLIV that he would be retiring from multiverse play, scoring the tournament-winning goal and bringing home the World Cup rejuvenated the Elder Song, and he decided to return for chance of a repeat in World Cup XLVI. That repeat was out of reach, so now he looks to strike gold three times in four editions.

OFF 86 Nestori HUAN 31 R Ba Sing Se University Shu Jing Dragons
OFF 19 CHEUNG Sepi 30 L Saigon City College Kelita Riverhounds

With Hiteki Kia having over a century of caps on the Ice Bisons under his belt, he is the most seasoned player on the team, and rightfully wears the first A. With age and skill, Hiteki is renowned for his ability as "damage control" through the last four World Cups he played in. Given the retirement of two of the four “Old Masters” of the Bisons, many were expecting Hiteki to announce his own retirement; especially at the age of 42. Yet, Hitkei has dodged the question of retirement time and time again. Having changed up his usual pairing from Hed Torvik to Ero’ki Nacer, the young right defensemen from Hatsu University and second year Badgermole finds himself yet again beneath the wings of “Sifu Hiteki” as many of the younger players respectfully refer to him as such. Nacer, who graduated right out of Hatsu University to sign an entry-level contract with the Badgermoles, found his number being called in the final games of the 2020.2 Regular Season, when last season’s first pick Hu Jiaozi was taken out of the season with a bad trip that saw him slide skate-first into the boards and break his tibia in two places. With an impressive season in the Republic Hockey League underway with the Humoki Huangdogs, he made the transition to AHL-level play with ease, and scored his first AHL goal against the Itakawai Lightning in Game One of the Finals.

On offense, Wang Torsti from Si Wong finds himself on the left side of the ice, after a renewed contract with Si Wong has been paying off for him. Opposite him we find Cheung Sepi who has continued to carve his name in the banks of the Kelita River. Even though he has been moved from the first line, Cheung is not taking it as an insult, and instead, viewing it as a chance to sharpen his own skills on the off-handed plays. In the middle, another once-first-liner Nestori Huan finds his return to the line better known for damage control rather than scoring. However, with his impressive knowledge and vision that had earned him his spot on the first line last World Cup, Huan may very well prove his doubters wrong and bring some glory to the second line… or find himself fading into obscurity…

OFF 33 SOUMA Shichiro 29 R Yokoua State Uni. Senlin Archers
OFF 17 KIL’OR Alecyc 27 L University of Kom’rk Itakawai Lighting

After the retirement of Kuang Deniigi with the AOlympics, the young Degour Niyan has been called up from the reserves to take his place. A scrappy young Mandalorian from the eastern reaches, Degour is incredibly volatile and prone to egging his opponents on to get into their heads. The fight finally left “The Master of Dengal”, and Ki’an Losow announced his retirement following the Bisons’ defeat in the AOlympics Finals. To replace such a veteran is no small task, yet many in the hockey community feel as though Jaster Kal’oki is up to the task. An impressively-sized Mando defenceman – one who can rival Hed Torvik on the scales – Kal’oki is known for his speed more than he is known for his brawn. Much like Losow, Kal’oki is quick to poke the puck away from any forward, bring it back within his wide reach, and pass it out to centre ice to any open forward with a surprising level of accuracy.

Offensively, the third line is filled with strong passers and even stronger shooters. Both Relicyc Tho-An and Souma Shichiro have done amazingly well in skills competitions involving accuracy and shot speeds; both players are younger and wanting to make a name for themselves. However, what is unique on the third line is the arrival of Kil’or Alecyc, an impressive power forward who saw his name behind many a goals in the last three tournaments as well as strong postseason play for the Lightning. Given the emphasis that Coach Ishii has put on slotting so many Lightning players into the third line, someone like Kil’or – a second-line Lightning player – paired with players from both the top line (Relicyc) and the bottom third (Godorow), many are calling for Ishii to simply make the entire line an Itakawau Convention.

Expect the third line to be more adept at cleaning up and bringing a more physically-minded offence to bear on their opponents.

At the tender age of 12, his skill with a bow was discovered and nutured, before his family transitioned away from the circus life and to the renaissance fair circuit in Gyatso-kai; his mother, father, and older sister still perform as an acrobatics act known as "Hardly Stable" while Kun-hong performs stunt archery, including firing his bow with his feet and shooting apples off the head of "unknowing patrons".

.:: CATAPULTING ::.
Depending on Format (Single, Two-Person Team, Four-Person Team)
Name Height	Weight	Age	Gender (Pronouns)	Hometown
TORAN Lopek'ai 188cm 93kg 23 Male (he/him) Keldabe, Kelita Province, United Mandalorian Clans
HUANG Bamei [ 黃八妹 ] 175cm 69kg 21 Female (she/her) Hudu, Kingdom of Xueshan, United Earth Kingdoms
ZHAO Jinhao [ 兆家豪 ] 185cm 90kg 24 Male (he/him) Shaanhai, Shuinian Province, Kingdom of Gaoling, United Earth Kingdoms
AUREPAQ Sokado 190cm 101kg 26 Male (he/him) Pogutaujak, Northern Water Tribe, Confederation of Water Tribes

Given the uncertain nature of the Catapulting tournament, the National Sports Council has submitted four names for the roster, with each being a part of a team -- Single, Two-Person, Four-Person -- based on order of listing in the roster.

All four members are a part of the historical reenactment group "Chou Bay Pirates" in which they demonstrate 12th Century seige tactics during the Warring Provinces Era of Gyatso-kai history. Travelling around the country with multiple catapults and trebuchets, the team is certainly prepared for whatever the Medieval Games in Gyatso-kai could throw at them.

.:: JOUST ::.
ZHENG Caori’dush
Height: 181cm – Weight: 79kg – Age: 30 years old – Gender: Female – Hometown: Sundari, Sundari Autonomous Region, Southern Mandalorian Islands

Riding: Akaan’cu
Height: 18 hands – Weight: 1080kg – Age: 8 years old – Breed (Color): Shire (Dark Brown

An established performer in the Avatarian renaissance festival circuit, Zheng Caori’dush is renowned for her ever-entertaining theatrics, as well as her skill on her horse, Akaan’cu. Having won numerous competitions throughout Gyatso-kai, Zheng made their presence on the multi-verse stage known in the first-ever Vilitan Mountain Games, where she was able to take Third Place. Having grown up in the faire circuit, as well as being the child of the founder of the oldest jousting troupe in all of the Republics, Zheng has not only the strength and character to joust with the best of them, but also the family lineage. The deep reds and black of her armor, combined with the warhelm she wears with two large mythosaur-like horns coming from her crown, allows Zheng to present an almost demonic façade to her opponents.

Especially when it comes to her ground came and she bears either her war axes or twin daos or, even worse, her storied guandao known as “The Jade Earth-Cleaver”

.:: SWORD-FIGHTING ::.
TAY'HAAI Kad'akaan
Height: 196cm – Weight: 88kg – Age: 23 years old – Gender: Male (he/him) – Hometown: Ori'yustapi, Me'sen Islands, United Mandalorian Clans

Coming from a family of Earthbenders, Tay'haai was unfortunate to not inhereit the skill of Earthbending. Instead, his father - famous Avatarian General Tay'haai Ko'pak - still trained his son in the martial arts aspect of bending, to which Tay'haai showed great promise. Winning multiple competitions in Hung Ga, he eventually became profiecent in multiple weapons forms - most notably the Butterfly Swords and Traditional Broadsword of Hung Ga as well as Mandalorian kad'cabuori, which pairs a round beskar shield with a sword akin to a Carolingian era sword.

Depending upon the nature of the Sword-Fighting section of the tournament, Tay'haai will wield an appropriate weapon.

All time match record—575 wins, 303 losses, 179 draws (1057 matches)
NS Record—396 wins, 141 losses, 110 draws (647 matches)
KPB Ranking--30.61 (14th)

AOCAF Record--67 wins, 19 losses, 15 draws (101 matches)
AOCAF Ranking--25.66 (5th)

style--+2.27
Formation--3-4-1-2
In the “BP System” or the “BP Way” (neither of those should be considered as something used officially or unofficially—if you wanted to term it as such as something of your own IC creation, go for it) the 3-4-1-2 is more literal than the manner in which it's used RL.
A discussion I had with another user made me contemplate providing a bit more concrete info on just who plays where when you see my lineups/bench for individual matches.
Defense: the three backs play tight to one another when the ball is in the middle or defensive thirds—they should really be termed LCB/CCB/RCB. The outside pair will never be wider than diameter of the center circle. They both man-mark (unless there is an IC tactical reason they don't) and the centerback zonal marks (usually helping one of the other two). The CB is technically a fullback as they have more freedom to move forward with the ball at feet. In a pinch, an emergency situation as a sub, they could all play any of the three positions.
Midfield: there is a good deal of set responsibility among the four across midfield, but the one thing that is always a constant is the wings are the workhorses, they cover more distance than the other players. I've hinted at or flat out said in match reports in the past that left wing (and they are 99.9% of time always left footed) is THE talismanic position in The System, as right fullback is considered (in BP) as usually the weakest position in a flat back four.
The two central midfielders usually have a specific role, one as the playmaker, the distributor and the other as the defensive, hard tackler, disruptor, ball winner.
The preferred position is listed first, but the ones that follow show how versatile that player is. For CM's the left/right designation is the stronger side for that player, but in theory almost anyone in midfield can play in the center of midfield.
Forward: Ah yes, the wild card element. In this case, the differentiation should be looked at from the perspective of another sport—basketball.
The three positions are almost adapted from the indoor game: the center forward, the target man, the number 9—the one who plays up front but facing away from the goal. Mostly it's men who hold down this role in the NT, although not always.
The striker—they want to be played into an area by a pass, or want room to get a touch before shooting. They face goal, but usually in or very close to the box.
The 'slot'--what a lot of people call the attacking midfielder or the CAM. This is a player that can dribble and create their own shot, or draw defenders and find others. There's a reason why this position can be played by a midfielder or a forward and the rationale usually depends on a chemistry between a pair or trio. West, Craig & Pryor will go down in history as the most prolific combo because the man developed a good rapport with the women who were club teammates.
In conclusion—BP should always be RP'd (of course at your discretion, and I will always adapt to anyone who RP's first if something that's not necessarily canon is mentioned) as--

*fast, short passing
*high lines & pressing
*offside trap
*technically sound
*not easily intimidated
*willing to play anyone, anywhere

National Anthem--"Hear Our Voices Commonwealth"
Nickname--since the end of the 1960's the National Team has been known as "The Bees", a period when the team's uniforms consisted of alternating black and gold hoops.
Previous to that time and subsequently through periods in the 1980's and 90's, the team was usually referred to by the county's national animal, the Elks; the women's National Team were always 'Lady Elks' until the advent of mixed gender play, which was revived during the Jenna Raven Cup and there are still numerous mentions of Elks in the supporters song “We are the Gold & Black”, which currently has close to 175 stanzas.
Colors--Black & Gold (while they are just 2 of the 5 main colors on the flag of Baker Park--Blue, Red and White are the others--black & gold have been closely associated in the nation's consciousness as representative of the country since its founding.)

The Commonwealth of Baker Park National Team have sent squads to the premier regional championship tournament, the "Toughest Tournament in the World that is Not the World Cup™" fourteen times previously, capturing the title on two occasions and reaching at least the Quarterfinals seven other times; the AOCAF has been the stage for the emergence of BPNT stars through history, its' importance stressed by the inclusion of the stars representing the two Championship victories into the permanent FAC crest (rather than just an addition to the badge).

Refresh Next Time

The Milchama Warriors have been semi-disappointing since the last AOCAF. Despite being ranked for the first time since the Isolation in the Top 32 in KPB rankings the Warriors did not qualify for the World Cup and even with a very good Cup of Harmony performance to finish 2nd against a very clearly cheating Holy Empire there has not been a positive buzz around the program since the last AOCAF. So that led to a question for the MFA since the AOCAF roster was clearly based on a bad vaudeville joke. Should Milchama bring back the joke or should the Warriors attempt the reset that was so desperately needed after last World Cup went so horribly. After some serious thought (we flipped a coin 11 times) the vaudevillians won so that's what we're doing. Of course because the traditional lineup was BAD last World Cup they now need international experience so they're the backups.

GK: I Don't Give a Darn
D: I Don't Know
D: Because
D: Of
M: Why
M: What
M: Would Happen
F: Who
F: Today
F: Tomorrow
F: Well

Subs:
GK: Morc Entersher - New kid on the block. His exploits for Chaialim in the league have become the stuff of legend. Takes the job over a retired Miles Inthracam.
GK: Ishtvan Martin - Second string
D: Eric Hexidevorah - Not half of something but all of something. Eric is a great outside defender able to play on both wings.
D: Dervan Kelliers CB - One of the new young CBs that has risen through the ranks in Milchama. Many compare him to Wilson as young'un. Expect him to start very soon.
D: Theo Elkenstall - LB. Natural left footer known for his good crosses.
M: Kelly Filimitov - LM - Lefty dead ball specialist. Also very good at crosses.
M: Cal Kamet CM - The rare Milchamian attacking mid. Nobody really knows what to do with Kemet because they play in all sorts of weird spaces that don't traditionally exist in Milchama. Has led to them leading the goal scoring 2 of the last 3 years in the New Babylon league. They/them.
M: Amy Cekarn - RM - Defensive mid. With a new defense and midfield is in the team to provide more defensive spine.
F: Millie Kouriea - LF - Plays with Floren at club level. Her ability to link up with him on offense has led to mini revival for Floren in club football so they figured why not put her on the national team as well? It worked out so well that Floren is now on the bench and Kouriea is still in the starting lineup.
F: Avi Benbemore - CF/LF - He's the sephardic Avi Belmowitz, which makes him the Sephardic Alan Belmore. He will, probably, score all the goals.
F: Elliot Flok - CF/RF - Pure scorer. Has moved himself into the starting lineup as one of the few Milchamians who didn't suck during qualifying. Also Holden Flomes retired.
F: Colm Interlasskoti - RF - Was once Milchama's greatest prospect. Then Milchama's greatest bust and now, finally, at 26 in the starting lineup. They/them pronouns.

In Which We Attempt to Remember Our History

Generally speaking we do our preview posts based on vibes, whatever we can remember, and how we feel that day. Today we are trying something different! Instead of writing about the upcoming games we are going to talk about the history we have every single nation in this group. Of course, we are still going to do no research so take literally everything we say in this post with a grain of salt. My guess is that we're wrong about every single detail which is pretty impressive because we usually get some things right!

Group C
Valanora (2) - Record against: 2-2-20. Most famous game: One of those quarterfinals in the WC 40s where Valanora always won and we always lost in quarters to Valanora. We'll say WC 45 because it's in the middle. Expectations: You can guess.

Milchama (8) - That's us! Record against: 0-0-0. Most famous game: Probably the World Cup 39 final. We lost real badly in that one and everybody seems to bring it up. It's upsetting and people should stop.

Canadian Dominion (17) - Record against: 1-0-0. Most famous game: Whichever game it was that we won. I mean it's been one game like that's clearly the most famous game. Expectations: Geese.

Sarzonia (22) - Record against: 10-0-10. Most famous game: Our first game back from Isolation was against Sarzonia. We'll go with that one. We lost of course. Expectations: Sarzonia has had a rough go of it recently with the federation having some real problems with money, will, and politics. So I hope. for their sakes, that Sarzonia is truly back. Long may they live!

Busoga Islands (23) - Record against: 3-0-1. Most famous game: Based on how this preview is going, the loss. I mean what else would it be? Was the loss in AOCAF outrounds? Sure why not. Expectations: Hopefully do better than that loss.

Eshialand (UR) - Record against: 2-0-0. Most famous game: Whichever game the one time we faced them in World Cup qualifying where we won by more goals. Expectations: We are better than them. Expect fireworks. We mean that literally fireworks will be shot off during this game. Get ready.

Tropicorp Roster AOCAF 70

Postby Tropicorp » Fri Sep 15, 2023 8:32 am

Image

Tropicorp began their competitive Footsport program during AOCAF 49 with their first ever match a respectable 0-3 defeat to regional super powers Valanora. The purpose of their participation was to determine if the regional footsport tournament would be a suitable environment for the testing of products such as athletic gear produced by Tropicorp Sports. During AOCAF 50, Tropicorp put out a call amongst a subset of its scientists, researchers and engineers for support on an ongoing project. The project saw Tropicorp scientists, researchers, engineers and other such guinea pigs wearing special fabrics with electronic measuring devices sewn into them in order to aid in their measurements and calculations. The data collected during AOCAF 50 was absolutely invaluable to the project. The experiments were a success and Tropicorp Engineers have been putting the data to the test at Tropicorp locations in Tropicoast and also at a new facility at an undisclosed location, also on Calania. During AOCAF 51, the scientists, researchers and engineers returned to collect some final data points to push them towards the final phase of the project. However, a strange thing happened during AOCAF 51 - the Tropicorp Scientists - perhaps a result of their own detailed research of the game, began not only to be competitive, but to win matches. The Techies actually qualified for the Knockout Rounds and stunned many with their performances until ultimately being knocked out by host and eventual champion nation Valanora.

From there, Tropicorp became a testing ground for the joint Tropicorp-Cocoabo Park led Cocoabo Enrichment and Enhancement Project. The Cocoabo proved to hold their own on the pitch and proved that they were ready for action, seeing action during World Cup 78 Qualifying for Turori and during the XII Olympiad in Novanaya and Vekaiyu - with the Cocoabo team making it all the way to the Olympic final before losing to Darmen and earning the Silver Medal. Until the Cocoabo lift the NS World Cup trophy, however, the work for the scientists and researchers from Tropicorp and Cocoabo Park will not be done. They will continue tweaking, continue training, and continue CEEPing. Now, the focus for the Tropicorp Team is not to perfect the Cocoabo Squad, but to study the makeup of the 'optimum' team - a hybrid Citizen-Cocoabo Roster that could one way or another shape the future of footsport in the Vilitan Cove.

Now, with many of the Cocoabo living in portal lands, Tropicorp is expected to continue favoring its citizen players over Cocoabo who have been participating in other tournaments. However, the Cocoabo are still available for selection if required.

Eligibility to compete on Team Tropicorp is defined as follows:
  • Currently Employed by Tropicorp or in Retiree status with Tropicorp
  • Has resided 3+ Years in Vilita, Turori or Tropicoast

Vilitan Defender Moumouni Verre'elali is eligible for Team Tropicorp as a citizen of Vilita and employee of Tropicorp through Tropicorp FC, however the defender has once again been chosen for the Vilita and Turori AOCAF Squad preventing their participation with Team Tropicorp.

Goalkeepers
#1 - Hanauma Ranbomahi is a veteran year old Vilitan Goalkeeper who qualifies to play for the National Team of Tropicorp as an employee of Tropicorp by virtue of playing their club footsport at Tropicorp FC in the Vilitan League. SULTANATE OF OONTAZ DERT LI NG
NATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL TEAM

This is the eighteenth time that Oontaz Dert Li Ng will be participating in the AOCAF. Oontaz got through undefeated in the group stage of the Baptism of Fire 61 but was knocked out in the round of 16 by Arioslavia. The nation is a mix of Muslims and Catholics, with the Mohammedans concentrated in the northern part of the country and the Christians living mostly in the southern islands. Despite a turbulent early history which saw both religious groups fighting constant wars and rebellions, by the time Abanhfleft came and established diplomatic relations with the nation in 1921, a general "peace" had settled between the two groups, and today both are content to consider each other as Oontazniks. Despite being a sultanate, the freedom of religion is valued by the nation, although it would be good advice to say that while the Catholics and Christians might be welcoming, even accommodating, to foreigners of strange new religions, the Muslims might not be so welcoming.

Things you should know about the SRS:

Once upon a time, there was the Imperium of Squornshelous, a militaristic, totalitarian state which took great pride in its football team. Squornshelous entered every World Cup from the 5th edition to the 41st, successfully qualifying all but once, and winning the 31st edition of the tournament. After World Cup 41, however, a civil war erupted which ended with the nation divided in to the democratic Confederacy of Squornshelan Remnant States, and the shrunken but still dangerous Imperium holding onto its island heartland. Both nations disappeared from the international stage for the next 40 World Cup Cycles. The SRS returned to international football for Cycle 81, and was joined by the Imperium during Cycle 84. During Cycle 88, another revolt in the Imperium destabilized the government so much that the nation essentially collapsed, and its constituencies applied for membership in the Confederacy. It was also around this time that Squornshelous/SRS arrived in Atlantian Oceania, having previously competed as an Independent.

While the football team has a rich history from the old days, new successes have only come fairly recently. The team has qualified for four straight World Cups, but has only advanced past the Group Stage twice in the modern era, and has yet to win a knockout match since returning. Regional success also eluded the Black-and-Reds for quite some time. They took third place in IAC8, but then took six more cycles to reach another regional semifinal, placing second in the 65th AOCAF Cup. It is only in the most recent edition of that tournament, AOCAF Cup 69, that the SRS has finally claimed its first trophy of the modern era. As AOCAF title holders, the team will look to improve on last cycle's Round of 16 exit.

The expectations are high, thanks in large part to Nepharan manager Gareth Penrooke, who took over for Omerican Anne-Sophie Groothuis. Groothuis had been the longest tenured of any Black-and-Reds manager, and had brought the team to the cusp of competitiveness. Penrooke was brought in to take the next steps, and thus far has not stumbled. Issued minimum expectations of making the second round in the World Cup, and reaching the final of the AOCAF Cup, he excelled. Until World Cup 94, that is. The Black-and-Reds did fairly well in qualifying, it has to be said, weathering a few bumps in the road to take first place in their group with a 14-4-2 record. As a result, expectations were high heading into the World Cup Finals, but the teams performance was terrible, particularly on defense. They allowed 11 goals and lost all three matches. Penrook avoided getting the boot, but is under intense pressure to right the ship immediately, and it's likely that anything short of an appearance in the final may result in his dismissal.

The team's style under Penrooke is possession-based, but fast-paced. They look to keep the ball, yes, but also to make decisive passes and runs forward. Movement off the ball is essential to create space for those attacking movements, and lazy players quickly find themselves out of favor and off the roster. With this need for quickness and good decisions made without delay, the transition in the attack will be key over the coming cycle and the one to follow. This is very much a team in transition, and several longtime features of the side have been left of the AOCAF roster. This is by no means a B Team, the young players who have been called up are genuine talents. But this is the least experienced SRS team to head to an international tournament in quite some time. A good performance here in al-Tamazgha could bode well for a resurgence at World Cup 95, while failure could signal dark days ahead for Confederate football.

(OOC Note: This is part of a continuing series called "Nathan Ellis's Quest," a long-term storyline dedicated to one man's crusade to bring Hapilopper to the top of the footballing landscape. You can read the complete series here, which will be updated as the competitions unfold.
6: An AOCAF awaits

Reflections at 35,000 feet

Almost immediately, Nathan Ellis realized the biggest negative about being based in Garvinson. It wasn’t a global city like Hapilopper City was, so there were never any international flights out of Garvinson. If someone wanted to fly to another country out of Garvinson, they would have to take a connecting flight out of the City and into the destination of their choice. To put it mildly, it was a massive annoyance. It meant that Ellis Football had to take an extra several hours to get to the destination of their choice and that they’d have to hope that Hapilopper Airlines’ ground crews didn’t fumble the luggage going from one plane to another.

Nathan was decidedly annoyed as he left his apartment to head to the airport in Garvinson. It was 3:15 in the morning as he locked up his apartment and loaded his bags in his car. Usually he was either sound asleep or he was just starting to hit the sack around this time, having been engrossed in whatever he had been doing that night – usually concerning football tactics. He didn’t like being up this early, but an international flight meant extra security, and at least the traffic would be just about nonexistent.

And in fact, there was no one on the road between his apartment and the airport – except, conveniently, those heading to the airport, and even more conveniently, members of Ellis Football carpooling as they headed there themselves. Nathan drove past a car with Tim Radomia driving and several of his teammates riding, and waved. He knew where they were going and knew what was ahead.

And at least on the bright side there were very few people that could bother them. Few fans that could disrupt their concentration as they got onto the plane.

The plane rides were, as you would expect, annoying. All the players were cramped up in a small space, without much room to move around, first on the flight to Hapilopper City, and then on the flight to Al Tamazgha, and it wasn’t something they were too pleased with. But Nathan was used to this. He was used to the 3 a.m. plane rides in tightly cooped-up compartments with nothing to do but get some extra shut-eye or listening to old music from the 90s.

For Nathan, it was the first time in a few years that he got to go on one of these plane rides, out of Hapilopper City Airport Conyers and to a distant land far away. He had been on so many of these plane rides, to lands once thought foreign and exotic. Places like Nephara, where he played domestic football. Places like Baker Park and Vilita, Farfadillis, places like Audioslavia, places like the Equestrian States, and places like Saintland and the Free Republics. Like his mind did so many times before, he thought back to that night in the Free Republics when Hapilopper won the Baptism of Fire.

Nathan looked back at the players for his team – his kids, his boys – and thought about how so many of them were kids that day 11 years ago, when Team Hapilopper won the Baptism of Fire, and when the rest of the world gained a tremendous amount of concern for what Hapilopper would do on the international stage. The rest of the world viewed Hapilopper as a side with almost unlimited potential – a future World Cup winner, no doubt. What a group of players, and what a side, and what a nation with unbelievable enthusiasm for the beautiful game.

That potential did more to haunt Hapilopper than anything else. The Baptism of Fire trophy loomed large over Team Hapilopper and all of its successors – for it was the only hardware a Hapilopper team had ever won. During the qualifying campaign for World Cup 83, a trophy case was built in the HFA offices – complete with spaces dedicated for Hapiloppian wins in the Cup of Harmony and the World Cup proper. None of those spaces were ever filled. The Baptism of Fire trophy was the only trophy that ever occupied that trophy case.

And instead of success, Hapiloppian teams suffered from instability. A change in leadership at the HFA proved disastrous and proved to almost kill the sport of football entirely in the country. There was some hope a few years ago when World Cup 90 came about, and when Team Hapilopper finally qualified for its first World Cup, but those hopes and dreams were dashed within a few years. The hype about Team Hapilopper being “the team of the 90s” – gone – and it seemed like HFA leadership was deliberately holding players down.

For a few weeks, Ellis Football would be housed in a part of a nation in western Atlantian Oceania called Al Tamazgha, where they would participate in their first international competition. There was no guarantee of how well or how poorly this team would do. Nathan wasn’t going to Al Tamazgha with expectations of victory or defeat, but rather a hope that his team would fight as hard as they could and leave nothing to chance. After all, that was the Hapiloppian way. Whether they win, lost or tied, what mattered most to Nathan was they gave it their all. The wins would come. All they had to do was stick to the fucking plan.

“What is a Hapiloppian?”

Not long after checking into the team hotel in Kajaia, not far from the Stade de la Paix, where Ellis Football would play their matches, Nathan asked his team to get together for a little team meeting. If anything, it would be a rah-rah session, where Nathan would fire his troops up for the coming matches ahead. They’d need all the motivation they could get, as they had some viciously strong opposition ahead of them – opposition that could very easily trip them up.

Leading the group was the Commonwealth of Baker Park, one of the strongest footballing sides anywhere in the multiverse, and a side that could very well give Ellis Football the humiliating defeat of a lifetime. As he looked through the opponents, he thought back to his team’s first AOCAF match – 11 years ago, against the Equestrian States, in a match immortalized in Hapiloppian lore as the “Manehattan Massacre.”

He thought about how Cooter Harris got rung up by the Equestrians – eight goals on the day. He thought about how Cooter completely lost his mind, threw the ball at the head of an Equestrian striker and how it derailed his career for a few years before putting his life back together in Xanneria. Nathan remembered that and always harbored a bit of resentment towards the Equestrians, even as Hapilopper got its measure of revenge a year later, beating the Equestrians and taking what some experts called the Unofficial lineal World Championship of football – as if football was decided by a title belt like combat sports were.

But there were other sides to worry about – there was the side from Kimi-Suomi, a very familiar name to Hapiloppians, but largely from that nation’s exploits in stock car racing. It was that nation that housed the team that Lam Chow-Cheung drove for. Cheung had scored their first win in the Exhibition 500 in Hapilopper City, and many remember the thunderous chants of “LAM CHOW” that permeated that Hapilopper National Exhibition after the race. There was also the sides from Fort McKinley, Carpathia and Ruthenia, and the unranked side from Azhaar.

As his players, coaches and staff got together, crowding every nook and cranny of Nathan’s hotel room, and probably violating a fire code or two, but nobody gave a shit about that. What they cared about was heading the good word from their leader. Their cult leader. A member of the team – nobody knew who, nor did they care – decided to record what was coming up next. The speech, unofficially called “What is a Hapiloppian?” became a viral hit in the Dominion, and served to get everyone excited about what was coming in the days, weeks, months and years to come.

“What is a Hapiloppian?” Nathan asked. “Is it a guy that steals your lunch money and kicks you in the balls? Some would say so. Is it a guy that wakes up at three in the morning to get one up on the so-called best in the world? Maybe. Is it a guy whose teeth have been kicked in, nose and eyes bloodied, down on one knee, looks up at the guy he’s fighting, gives him the finger and a big smile, telling him ‘fuck you, you ain’t killed me, I’m still breathing, and you ain’t won yet’? That’s what I hope a Hapiloppian is. I hope a Hapiloppian is all of that.

“In this country, we fucking fight and we never back down,” Nathan continued, a fire evident in his voice. “That’s why I picked every single one of you. You embody what I see to be everything that is good about Hapiloppian sport. None of you back down. None of you lay down and tell the other team ‘you’ve beaten us, good on ya.’ I see you guys and I see an attitude that says ‘Fuck you, you ain’t gonna beat me. I’m gonna win this thing or you’re gonna have to kill me.’ That’s the kind of attitude I want to see. When someone knocks you down, you get right back up and you get in their face. Dare them to do it again. The second I see any of you – ANY of you – rolling around on the ground acting like you’ve been shot, begging for a referee to give the guy a foul – you’re off the team – and you better hope I don’t get to you because I’ll kick your ass myself. We fight, we don’t back down, and if any of our guys is in trouble, we look out for them.”

Nathan looked around at his team – his boys – and nodded his head. He was pleased with who he had picked up during the last several months. He felt he had the best team he could possibly get.

“We win together, we lose together, we fight together,” Nathan continued. “That’s what Hapiloppians do. We fight together. And if we get to this together, rather than putting one man over another, rather than acting like one man is better than the rest, we’ll better ourselves, we’ll better each other and we’ll better the team. I got you guys because you guys can stick together – I hope you can stick together – for several years. This is a brotherhood. And we’re going to do what we can to better the brotherhood. Am I clear?”

The rest of the team nodded their heads, but no one said anything. You could hear a pin drop in the hotel room – which was just fine to Nathan. He could see that his boys had taken that message in. He could see that his boys were just about ready to run right through a brick wall to make this work. And that, more than anything else, was what he wanted.

Manager
Image Dan Eastwood
Age: 68
This man from Eura seems to be following in the footsteps of Didrik Gjedrem, first taking the post of Raynor City United when he departed for the Marauders and now taking that post when he has stepped away from that position as well. At United he improved upon a solid foundation that Didrik had established and saw greater success as a result. The VSC is likely hoping that he will be able to replicate that with the national team, although there is a small fear that he may come to deviate from the traditional Vanorian formation. What is known is he can manage egos quite well and has a history of success wherever he goes, with being perhaps the greatest United manager in their long history. Having started his tenure with an AOCAF Cup victory has erased all doubts about his appointment and fans are now excited to see if he can be the one to help the team finally chase down that elusive sixth World Cup title.

Assistant Manager
Kasper Volheim
Age: 49
After a successful trial run with the recently reinstated U21 national team, Volheim was appointed the assistant manager for the senior team as well with the number of youth players that are in the team and pool at large. Having shown to have the capabilities of managing them at Raynor City United's youth team and being a good go between as an assistant in the Di Bradini Cup, Volheim looks to keep up the success rate at the senior level, helping lead the team to end its trophy drought in the regional championship.

MANAGER: Xiu the Tactician Image 55F
Previous job: Sea Dome Lemon Sharks manager
Wartime: Notoriously got her name slaughtering CC1's overconfident Iron Hill Regiment in an ambush she led at Remission Beach. Awkward.
Formation: "Paper 4-2-3-1" inverts to 2-3-5 and pops back to 4-2-3-1 regularly
As player: Something not entirely unlike a sweeper in a sport not unlike football on her home planet
As manager: Achieved surprising results in all 3 matches Sea Dome played in AOCAF 67, decent results in BCC

Bio on file: Adopted the name Xiu after learning of Earth History, then achieved the rank of Tactician in the Matrian Sea Dome Marines. Her signature "paper 4-2-3-1" inverts into a 2-3-5 to create favorable situations in the last 2/3 of the pitch or to give the illusion of open space in front of the back line before snapping back into a four-player unit or occasionally executing an offside trap. Credited with surprising each of the three sides the Lemon Sharks faced in AOCAF 67, Xiu and her system were positively assured to come back for the senior team's next engagements. "the Tactician" is actually a translatable military rank earned in the field, not technically a surname. A Marine assault technician herself, Xiu was promoted to tactician after realizing she could bait the Iron Hill Regiment (CC1) into amphibious attack and slaughtering them on Remission Beach at the very foot of Archipelago Massive.
Update: XT shocked the whole Dome when she announced she was to coach her old hated enemy CC1 in the AOCAF. After helping Corporate immigrants overcome the suspicions of Matrians at crossdome events by hiring a Corporate assistant, she has made further strides by actually moving to CC1 to lead the Legion. Her new office at Legion Tower has an incredible view, but more importantly, Xiu's decision is an act of trust-building at a time when tensions run high between domeward nations.

Not to be outdone by Red Sea Dome City, Corporate City 1's high-rise 'field' is actually a rooftop basketball court resizable for volleyball, boxlax, and other sports- including all football codes- requiring surfaces to be trucked all the way up the frightening Legion Highway or delivered by helicopter or by dropper (reconfigured pamphlet bomber). It is extremely popular due to its opposite weather conditions under the Supermassive Sea Dome giving an inherent advantage over MSD. But unlike the free-for-all down below, Peak Field only allows High City College, the CC1 Legion (senior national team), international guests, domestic members of 4 pro clubs hand-selected after proving they deserve to live higher: the Iron Hill GFC Ancients, the Dozens, the Bazaar Eagles and the Infosec-Pro Operators....and now, the CC1 Green Diamonds.

You can wear, say, or do almost anything nonviolating here because people are unusually focused on not dying. Also, it's hard to find anything in CC1 that is both profitable and illegal except one corporation overthrowing the Corporate Council, which would be unprecedented. So if you'd like to buy some terrible weapon, some people, supermedicine, regular drugs, a ship, and a crew to transport it all home our only question is: how fast can you pay?

(1st RP morsel; some detail on politics and culture of CC1)
Jointly owned by multiple corporations and public interest groups, CC1 is an enclave of the financial and commercial world deep in the heart of Red Sea Dome City.

Demonym: Corporate | Capitalist Libertarian | High corruption but educated and wealthy populace
Military: Citizen militia network, strong defending each theater but historically incapable of mounting sustained attack.

Nation name: Jabal Akhdar
Trigram: EJA
Adjective/demonym: Akhdari
Nickname: Green Falcons

All players are domestic unless otherwise noted. All domestic players are available on transfer as free agents. New players in red.

Coach: Aqeel Hamdaan al-Hannan

Another AOCAF Cup, another Green Falcons coach. A last day win scratched over Demot to avoid a winless AOCAF Cup 69 wasn't enough to save el-Hameed's job, and so the Royal Football Association have turned to the latest in what is becoming something of a conveyor belt of coaches. al-Hannah has been a moderately successful with Ashkarqa, but there's little in his record to suggest he's going to be capable of turning around a fairly lacklustre squad. Expect the default 4-3-3 formation to prevail.

Goalkeepers

1 – GK – Taamir Muzammil al-Semaan (Image Audio Bull Synergy) – 24
12 – GK – Jafar Za’eh al-Rizk (Kalbam) – 21
24 – GK – Muhammad Mashal el-Baten ([KKA] Kherkhan) – 22

al-Semaan is a lanky pure shot-stopper and has become known for his booming kicks regularly travelling two-thirds of the field, but isn't up to much scratch with the ball at his feet. He's still the best the Green Falcons have between the sticks. With the rest of the goalkeeper corps ageing out there are callups for al-Rizk and el-Baten but neither should play if al-Semaan is fit.

Defenders

2 – DR – Mamoon Tareef al-Hatem (Surin) – 26
3 – DL – Faai Zayyaan el-Karim (Ashkarqa) – 31
4 – DC – Sabri el-Salaam (AOPIC Greens) – 27
6 – DC – Umar el-Saladin (Image Caballeros CF) – 28
13 – DC – Uwais Fahd Noor (Dhabaidat) – 24
15 – DC – Sidqi al-Tabatabai (Habasfan) – 21
19 – DC – Talha Nizaam el-Galla (AOPIC Greens) – 22
22 – DL – Maaiz Fahmi al-Aydin (Kalbam) – 18
23 – DR – Jafar Akram Ali (AOPIC Greens) – 25

If there's a despairing air about the team it's because of the absence of Rayyan Noor Zaman, who has finally retired after a stellar club and very modest international career. His replacement at right back is the far more workmanlike al-Hatem who offers reasonably solid defence but with none of Zaman's attacking creative flair. el-Karim, also an unflashy, solid defender, continues on the other flank. The age of the wingback is truly dead in Jabal Akhdar. el-Saladin, a brutal but effective defender, is one of the only Akhdaris to have ever reached the heights of the Vanorian Premiership; el-Salaam is promoted from reserve, a slightly more unassuming partner. Of the reserves, el-Galla is the most skilled with the ball and most likely to see playing time.

Midfielders

5 – DM – Raihaan al-Dajani (Image Alikki-Corra Settlers) – 22
10 – MC – Ali Noor (AOPIC Greens) – 27
11 – MC – Abdul Jaabir al-Shahan (Image Caballeros CF) – 26
14 – DM – Mutlaq el-Basha (AOPIC Greens) – 30
18 – MC – Daamir Suleiman (Dhabaidat) – 21
25 – MC – Saajid Faarooq el-Hamdan (Image AC Zul'Atun) – 29
26 – MC – Uthmaan Nabeel el-Zaher (Image Bujuyaga Stars) – 21

al-Dajani is a reasonably talented deep-lying midfielder in the holding role of the midfield three; he starts ahead of el-Basha, who is more of a... basher. al-Shahan has played at a high level and is a good set piece target thanks to his height; he's not terribly gifted but as a box-to-box midfielder is a workhorse with a tireless engine and excellent discipline despite all the tackles he puts in. That leaves Ali Noor as the creative force on attack; he's played well for domestic giants AOPIC Greens, but international football is a step up. el-Hamdan offers speed and experience; el-Zaher has neither but is a nice technician with the ball at his feet and very strong; Suleiman is a barrel-chested attacking midfielder with a powerful left boot but some iffy football IQ.

Forwards

7 – RW – Hamaad Hamdaan el-Haider (Image AC Dason) – 23
8 – LW – Shukkriya Juwairiya el-Mahfouz (AOPIC Greens) – 24
9 – CF – Shaqeequddeen (Image Athletic Rolalas) – 27
16 – RW – Faatih Ghaazi Hussain (Khamad) – 22
17 – CF – Abdul Salim el-Naazil (Muzasumah) – 20
20 – LW – Numair Kassem Yousef (Khamad) – 28
21 – CF – Taariq Rahman (Madufi) – 26

el-Haider and el-Mahfouz are young, but have proven themselves at a reasonably high level as energetic wingers. The centre forward position is more of a question: Shaqeequddeen is skilled but a bit temperamental; el-Naazil might be a more rounded but very young. Expect a reasonable amount of rotation on the forward line as al-Hannan tries to work out the best combination to get the most of his assets (speed, set piece play) and mitigate his problem areas (lack of experience, indiscipline).

ABOUT FARFADILLIS
potentially outdated map for reference

A nation is usually defined as “a large body of people united by common descent, history, culture, or language, inhabiting a particular country or territory.” A country is usually defined as “a nation with its own government, occupying a particular territory.” As such, contrary to popular misconception, Farfadillis is neither a country nor a nation. The reasons are twofold: first, to what extent governments exist in Farfadillis in the current day is a matter of fierce scholarly debate, and second, there are various ethnicities in Farfadillis that appear to have diverged culturally centuries ago, although it is impossible to know for sure because historical records are very hard to come by in Farfadillis.

So, having clarified what Farfadillis is not, it would be perhaps helpful to give information on what it is. Again, academics haven't ironed out the details and reached a consensus, but it is generally agreed that somewhere between eight and fifteen ethnostates, depending on who's counting and how, coexist in Farfadillis, with the most cited figure being ten nowadays. We will henceforth assume that this last figure is, indeed, correct. As such, Farfadillis could be considered a “Plurinational Entity” in the literal sense that, whatever it is, it is definitely an entity, and it certainly has more than one nation in it. For simplicity, when we say Farf we will mean any ethnicity from the island of Farfadillis.

Although members of any given Farf ethnicity would spit on you for even implying they are similar to any other given Farf ethnicity, the reality is that all but one Farf ethnicity share a lot of cultural common ground. In fact, their cultural common ground is particularly distinctive and makes it hard for Farf refugees to set each other apart in other countries, where their differences between this common ground and the local culture tend to be far starker. This cultural common ground includes, but is not limited to: a general disregard for authority and order (in any sense of the word), a seemingly unhealthy obsession with fire (although some of it is down to fire being a very important part of the various Farf religions), recklessness (risk-taking behavior, if you want to be more charitable), and a very inconvenient ability for distraction and destruction.

The various Farf ethnicities do differ considerably, however, and this is reflected in the neverending political friction between the existing ethnostates, with a horrible war having recently ended. This is despite the fact that, ironically, Farves display omniglottery: the ability to learn any language to a native level with minimal exposition. They are not psychics, so can't just know what words mean without having heard them, but they can visit another country and speak like a native within a month if they want to. Most older Farves speak their local language, as well as Ferdullaelan, because in the past Farfadillis was a country, and Ferdullaele, as the capital, was a cultural hegemon. Farves who live on the border between two given ethnostates generally speak both languages, in many cases having picked up the other language passively and unintentionally. This heavily facilitates migration between ethnostates, as neighboring ethnicities are generally not too different-looking, and as such a Farf from any given ethnicity could cross a border and pretend to have always been a member of the other side's ethnicity. This has the interesting consequence of making the borders between ethnostates cultural melting pots, mish-mashing the cultures of both ethnicities far more than outside Farfadillis.

Regarding the ten (or so) ethnostates we have been referring to, here we present brief descriptions of those generally agreed to be “the” ten ethnostates, in alphabetical order:

Farolera is a very populous country, and was the most economically powerful until recently losing a genocidal war of conquest. Their capacity for self-sustenance during the anarchy years was far greater than their traditional competition, the Ferdullaelans, and Banijan foreign aid helped them pull even more ahead, but they ended up biting off more than they could chew. Their territory is filled with lush forests and fertile farmland, which is actually an important part of the Faroleran identity. After Karinthians, Farolerans are generally considered to be the least Farf of the big Farf ethnicities, but they nonetheless display all of the aforementioned cultural common ground to a very noticeable degree. Farolerans speak Faroleran, which to many foreigners sounds almost exactly like “Spanish”.

Ferdullaele is the ethnostate with the most fertile land, which historically gave them an enormous headstart. However, their population was the one that failed the most to adapt to the total collapse of society eighteen years ago, and as such the ethnostate is, forgive us for making things even more complicated, not strictly an ethnostate: order (in the loosest sense), hasn't quite returned to Ferdullaele, even now, three decades after the collapse of Farfadillis the nation; it has instead devolved into various subcommunities exercising what would best be described as anarcho-capitalism and they, of course, hate each other too.

Fröndt is a very mountainous region, and most urban centers are in those mountains. The weather is extremely dry and cold, and the fauna is unforgiving. The Fröndti are typically more hard-working and level-headed than other Farves—or so they like to believe—and think of themselves as the reasonable, neutral people of the island. The rest of the island disagrees, as do most scholars. They've had trouble with the extremely harsh winters and the flying jellyfish lately, but they're a resilient bunch, so they've adapted to the times.

Induja lies at the center of Farfadillis. All of the beautiful Farf biomes clash in Induja, which makes it the most naturally beautiful of the ethnostates. By driving less than two hundred kilometers, you can go from jungle to desert to plains to mountains. Due to this, Indujans are actually quite secluded, despite bordering a whopping six other ethnicities. Indujans are traditionally... well, forgotten. To most Farves, they're just that place you have to go through to reach other places, though this attitude towards them has been relenting in recent years. As a nation, it has recently experienced repeated economic crashes because they were overtaken by a cryptocurrency cult, and being the center of the most unforgiving warfront in the recent war has not helped matters. A chunk of it has even become a new nation with zero resistance.

Karinthia is a recently-discovered tribe of about thirty thousand people who live in the Szoirsian desert. Some scientists believe they'd flown under the radar for millennia, somehow. They seem to speak a language with no similarities with any other Farf language. The Farves that have come into contact with them have found them very bizarre, for the most part because they seemed to pay attention to detail and have a commendable work ethic, coupled with a fleshed-out concept of respect and hierarchy. One thing about them is shared with all other ethnicities, however: they venerate fire.

Kruviš is the most populated ethnostate, though only by a slight margin and only if you're willing to trust a Farf census from twenty-five years ago. This nation is mostly one huge jungle, but closer to the coast the jungle gives way to civilization... to a degree. The fauna here is perhaps the most dangerous you'll find on the island, which is really saying something. Wasps that explode (like bombs) when stinging, spider-snakes, frogs whose poison literally sends you to hell, etc. The Kruviši are even more fiercely nationalistic than the other ethnicities but tend to direct their xenophobia more towards non-Farves than the other Farves, and are generally just not involved in petty border squabbles because the humongous jungle doesn't let them.

Rülândéá is historically the poorest and most abused of the nations; it's safe to say the Rulandese have never had it good. Rampant crime, extreme pollution, terrible quality of life, genocide(s) and a very long etc. The region weathered the days of anarchy much better than most other places by virtue of already being used to misery. Nowadays, the region is controlled by the Rulandese Revolutionary Army, and a fairly idiosyncratic version of libertarian socialism is currently in place, but it is very hard to get information from Rülândéá due to how hazardous it is to get there in the first place. They're the most well-known Farf ethnicity by far because they produce better footballers than the rest of the island combined, to the point that some of the best players in the Multiverse come from this relatively small, run-down nation. Their language is also notorious for having too many diacritics. Farves from the other ethnicities feel very insulted when it is insinuated that they, too, speak languages with an orthography filled to the brim with diacritics.

Szoirsia is essentially one huge desert with small oases of civilization. Szoirsians are used to the extreme heat and dehydration that comes with their surroundings. They resort to violence first and foremost to solve problems, perhaps even more so than the Rulandese. Szoirsians speak one of the most distinct languages of the island: Szoirsian. As a language, it seems to very transparently be a creole between two ancestral languages that no longer exist, which in turn—along with what little archaeological evidence can be found—makes the scholarly consensus be that there used to be two distinct ethnic groups in Szoirsia that, somehow, fused into one.

Tanazza is rather uninhabited, being almost exactly fifty percent jungle, fifty percent desert in terms of surface area. The inhabited parts generally lie at the edge of both biomes. Tanazzans have a notoriously hard time getting out of Tanazza because there are no roads out. The collapse of supply chains during the anarchy years hit the Tanazzans particularly hard as a result, and they are still reeling from it. They are, nonetheless, very resilient and, supposedly, very good-humored.

Lithico™ is a new corporate-state that is quickly turning into another ethnostate (but doesn't, technically, fit the definition yet). They are a corporation focused on selling the Lithium that the bats authochtonous to their territory shit. Their territory used to be part of Induja, but it was mostly bought off or peacefully integrated throughout the war against Farolera. Unlike other Farf nations, they do not yet have any tensions with other Farf ethnicities, Farolera excluded.

As a general rule, it is very hard to travel to Farfadillis. Things have gotten better recently, as some working airports have been constructed in Farolera by the Banijan and Euran relief efforts. However, travel within the country is still notoriously hazardous unless you're willing to spend a lot of money bribing the locals. Do not travel by boat if you can afford to: krakens abound on the Farf coast.

STAFF

MANAGER: Image Yuan Zilai - Age 63
A man who has made a terrible decision and decided to stick by it because he reached a World Cup semifinal. Now more determined than ever after his salary has been increased exorbitantly, Yuan is looking to see if he can actually take the rather mediocre team from last cycle and make them overachieve further. A third place at the World Cup was already a phenomenal result, and there are definitely a lot of quality youngsters coming through at the moment, can Yuan do better? He's starting to think that he can.

ASSISTANT MANAGER: Image Tuskoles Yagaras - Age 35
Head of state of the newly-founded corporate state of Lithico™, Tuskoles Yagaras is also Lithico™'s CEO's right-hand man. Generally recognized as astonishingly competent by everyone except himself, he has managed to influence the FFFF into letting him become assistant manager, and has a lot of ideas to share with Yuan Zilai in order to further the team's success and, perhaps, his own interests, too. But all is good so long as his interests align with the NT's anyway.

STARTERS

#1 — Image Básilió Fórténté — aGKa — Age 24 — Image Rülândéá Kôstä ImageImageImageImage
A sweeper keeper with an impeccable sense of timing... to the point of exhuding, perhaps, too much overconfidence. He'll be quite foolhardy trying to play as a libero at times, but he's got a knack for just almost costing his team a goal. In other areas he's just a solid goalkeeper that has been going from strength to strength.

#6 — Image Sêvêr Fâerçâlenh — aLBa — Age 29 — Kirkenes FC ImageImageImageImage
One of many Farf players who wasn't lucky enough to start at a decent academy but nonetheless got scouted by foreign teams, Sêvêr has been around quite a lot, but only truly hit the ground running recently at Kirkenes, where he recently became a part of the surprisingly exclusive club of Farf Champions' League winners. A solid timing when tackling and an even more solid timing for picking and choosing when to surprise going forwards and his scintillating form have allowed him to force himself into the starting eleven.

#2 — Image Tôsgo Türrângel — aCBa — Age 24 — Image Mâ Âlâmëómë ImageImageImageImageImage
A massive fucking unit, Türrâgel is perhaps best described as a train: he comes at you really fast, really hard, and you better hope he's got his tackling technique right or it will be time for a spell on the sidelines. His pace is scary for someone his size. He can jump very high, too, which makes him a menace on set pieces. The Rulandese youngster has carved a spot for himself at Mâ Âlâmëómë with his imposing physique and sly reading of the game. His weaknesses? Anything relating to playing football, as opposed to preventing others from playing football. He's not bad bad on the ball, he's just way off Farfadillis-international-player level, which is honestly kind of ok for a center-back anyway.

#3 — Image Eloriján Mopiraja — aCBa — Age 22 — 1923 Esca ImageImageImageImageImage
It's not every day that a Farf center-back wins a Testiculiño award, but that's exactly what Eloriján did. Though not as physical as his partner at the back, Eloriján makes up for it by being astonishingly astute for someone his age, while also adding much needed playmaking abilities for a Farf center-back, which Tôsgo lacks. Tôsgo's devil-may-care approach to defending contrasts heavily with Eloriján's, perhaps because the Indujan has mostly developed his style of play in Mytanija, where far more value is placed on truly understanding the defensive side of the game.

#4 — Image Rôbé Wîjkár — aRBa — Age 26 — Image Kingsbury United ImageImageImageImage
Another physical specimen, Rôbé does not get tired. At all. Ever. He's fast and agile despite being rather tall and he's got great technique. He could potentially be retooled into, for example, a center midfielder or a right winger, if the need were to arise (and Yuan Zilai will definitely be considering the possibility). His understanding of the game is also top-notch. Rarely does he play below a solid 7/10, though he perhaps lacks the attacking spark one typically expects from a Farf full-back.

#8 — Image Rüí Süda — aCMa — Age 27 — Daedonggang 3.26 ImageImageImageImage
A right-winger by trade, Rüí Süda has been a consistent if unremarkable goal threat in the Q-League for many years now, turning out for a team that hardly sets the world alight. Pacey, like any Farf, he excels as a two-way threat: what makes him a good threat is that he's good with both feet. However, Yuan Zilai is not interested at all in what Rüí can provide on the right flank. He instead sees in him a player with remarkable vision, a player who knows how, when and where to occupy space, and who can make the right decision under most circumstances, not least because he's great with both feet. What's more, he can produce moments of magic, if somewhat sparingly. Will he adapt to the defensive side of his new position? We will see.

#11 — Image Odalis Pokéésé — aCMa — Age 22 — Image La Nueva Avenida ImageImageImageImage
Half-Faroleran, half-Rulandese... it's safe to say his political position inside this team is highly unstable. Odalis is good enough for it to not matter much. His well-roundedness, punctuated by his sharp sense of tempo, make him a staple in midfield, despite the extremely stiff competition. Pairing up with Süda, Yuan Zilai will be looking for the two to command center midfield with their brains rather than with their feet. Odalis, perhaps, has a more unremarkable, less mercurial role to play than his fully-Rulandese counterpart.

#5 — Image Lêyêló Jáánsêlà — aTKa — Age 23 — Image Rülândéá Kôstä ImageImageImageImageImageImage
It's already safe to say Lêyêló is a generatinal player. Extremely intelligent, physically-imposing and completely tireless, as well as a goalscoring menace if you let him slip through your radar. In Lêyêló, la Vherderoja has the first world-class takilante since Faragó rue Cazade (and therefore the second world-class takilante ever), and the first for whom it's his natural position. Expect him to be one of the most frustrating players a defense that tries to build from the back can face, as only a few players in the Multiverse can match the intensity and intelligence of his pressing. When pressing, he can sometimes wander extremely far up the pitch; this is by design and likely spells trouble for the opposing team, as it means he smells blood.

#10 — Image Jôs Sürréo — aLWa — Age 25 — Lakewood United ImageImageImageImageImageImage
Xíxì Êns-lite is not a bad description for Jôs Sürréo. Same boyhood club, similar player profile, decidedly worse player... but also definitely one of the team's three best players (the other two being Robineau and Jáánsêlà). He has the diminutive legend's exact frame, which makes his dribbling ability absolutely deadly. On top of that, he's also a great playmaker and excels at reading the game. Much like Xíxì, he can score too. Having been fruitfully employed in offensive midfield, Yuan Zilai is now interested in seeing what Jôs can offer as an inside forward; his combinations with Robineau will be key to the team's success up front.

#7 — Image Valën Pídí — aRWa — Age 18 — Brinemouth ImageImageImageImage
Yuan Zilai is experimenting a bit this AOCAF Cup, and as a result we have eighteen-year-old wonderkid Valën Pídí starting on the right flank. Pídí does not bring a particularly rare profile to the table (for Farfadillis, at least): he is extremely technical, blindingly fast and decently smart on the ball. However, he's just very, very good at these things, despite his age. Zilai will be looking to isolate him against opposing full-backs as much as possible, because his ability to beat his marker one-on-one has, perhaps, not been seen in Farfadillis since Tôsgo Alxíkí. Maybe, perhaps, since Xíxì Êns.

#9 — Image Dénes Robineau — aSTa — Age 24 — Image Crisisbless ImageImageImageImageImageImage
An absolute fucking menace. He's a total diva and will throw a fit over the stupidest shit, but what he brings to the table is something few players ever have: the complete goalscoring package. He has technique, pace, strength, extremely clinical finishing, aerial presence, off-the-ball movement, raw determination... he's not a particularly pretty player to watch, in the sense that you wouldn't really pay a matchday ticket to watch him specifically, but he's likely the best player on this team, and has only been improving with time. If his progress doesn't stop, he could very well enter the Farfadillis all-timer conversations.

SUBSTITUTES
(formatting coming soon!)

de Lovandá 25

Tall, agile and with the inherent sense of timing needed to be a great sweeper keeper. In other words, a perfect fit for most, if not all, Farf tactical set-ups. Unfortuantely, Fórténté is a better sweeper keeper from a nation that is now much more heavily-favored following the end of the Farf War.

Defigueroa 32

Rogerio is tall, has got great reflexes, and is not half bad at timing his runs to come out of the box. He has been a controversial but extremely solid mainstay at Mâ Âlâmëómë for many years now, making him... not really liked by anyone, really. On skill alone, he could very well be starting, but geopolitical matters make Fórténté, who's about as good anyway as well as a better fit tactically, the natural starter.

Degaray 26

A versatile player that can play anywhere along the left flank, Josué has got lots of technical ability as well as well-rounded skillset. On top of his versatility, he's extremely pacey and very nimble (though also very easy to muscle off the ball). Despite his ability, however, Fâerçâlenh's irruption into the NT scene coupled with Farolera resoundingly losing the war has been a bit too much for Josué to hold onto his starting spot.

Izotzubia 28

With his days as an Astograthian NTer behind him (what was that all about, anyway?), Tipi Izotzubia, who has now admitted to being Rulandese, but for some reason has decided that his name being Tipi Izotzubia is a hill he's willing to die on, is a true physical behemoth: he can run up and down the pitch while barely breaking a sweat, at an astonishing pace considering his massive frame and brutal strength. An aerial menace who's not half-bad on the ball. He will be employed as a left-back or a makeshift center-back depending on the team's needs.

Kander 28

Another one of Yuan Zilai's weird call-ups. The Ferdullaelan has been a key player for a mediocre side nobody in Farfadillis had heard of, yes, but his defensive well-roundedness means that, despite not being a natural center-back, he likely can be retooled into one for the team's purposes. No, seriously, employing two center-backs has been ballsy from Yuan, not least because there's hardly any good ones to call up beyond the two starters to begin with.

Moloses 29

A defensive-minded right-back by virtue of having been brought up in Kelssek and never having stepped foot in Farf soil for non-football related reasons, Kurispin is likely to prove a useful substitute for a team that generally entirely lacks genuinely tidy full-backs in most of its iterations. Yuan Zilai will likely try and see if he can be used as a makeshift centerback, much like Izoztubia and Kander.

Voís 26

A very technical relentless machine of a midfielder, Voís does things first and asks questions later, both on and off the pitch. He is one of the most inconsistent players in the squad: on his day, he can completely take control of a match with his risky tackling, defense-splitting passes and fantastic dribbling. If he's not on one of his days, though, he will likely get sent off or miss most of his passes, lose the ball a terrifying number of times and cost the team a whole lot. If he plays, it's likely Farfadillis desperately need to equalize.

Jíí 26

Best frienemies with teammate Pîyár Voís, Nâáçó differs from his teammate in that he's a much smarter player on the ball. He's less of a relentless headless chicken and more of a calm playmaker. He knows how to dribble his way out of pressure and how to put in a defensive shift without breaking a sweat, but it is his game intelligence that makes him stand out. A fairly balanced player with no glaring weaknesses.

Quelabura 29

A takilante, Quelabura differs from starter Jáánsêlà in that he specializes more in the exploiting space part of the role, as opposed to the pressing part of the role. He can rack up surprising numbers of not just goals but assists as well, as he's actually a bit tidier on the ball than Jáánsêlà himself.

Ybl 23

An attacking midfielder known for his penchant for the bizarre, both on and off the pitch. You never know what to expect when Ybl has the ball. Simple, straightforward passes may be ignored for convoluted, possibly worse ones. On other hand, he can find gaps in the most ferreous defenses with his approach. Good at close-control dribbling, too, which makes him a pain to dispossess, even if playmaking is his main asset.

Ënàrsòn 19

Grandson of Polarian World Cup winner Svenbjorn Einarsson, Ënàrsòn is weirdly proud of his Polarian heritage. He takes after his grandfather, not accidentally: he is a very good playmaker with an eye for goal. His long shots are a rare commodity in this squad, rather surprisingly. Overall, a solid talent with a long way to go. He could be molded into a different type of player quite easily with how raw he is, and Yuan no doubt has that in mind.

Aixenxó 24

Right-footed and versatile enough to play on either wing, either as an inside forward or as a traditional winger depending on which flank he's chucked into. Blisteringly fast, great crossing, very good dribbling and nowadays quite decent at scoring, too. He will, nonetheless, still be looking for assists far more than the average wide attacker... however, he's likely to be sidelined quite a lot over his very poorly-chosen words regarding the Farf War. On talent, though, you can't really not call him up, and Yuan is aware of this.

Kilgallić 23

Born Geneva Kilgallon, daughter of Crisisbless-legend-turned-absent-father-figure Ror Jevjdević-Hadsić, Ženeva surprised the football world by leaving aside her reportedly unmatched revulsion for her father and accepting a call-up for la Vherderoja even though a call-up for the Cormorants was presumably not out of the question. She's been forced to undergo a not-so-subtle name change to make her Kruviši heritage more readily apparent. Heritage aside: she's a versatile winger who can play on either flank despite not being two-footed. On the left wing, she'll be looking to cut inside and create danger with her playmaking skills, presumably inherited from her father, while on the right wing she'll be playing a more traditional winger role in which she'll exploit her pace and very good crossing ability. Very much a similar profile to Aixenxó's, though she's decidedly smarter on and off the pitch.

Trlimándã Wôl 35

Trlimándã Wôl's late surge in form at the age of thirty-four means he's still a part of the squad, since his form at the last World Cup was actually quite good. He's a wide playmaker, partially because of his age, and will usually be more reliant on Wîjkár's help than one might want, but nonetheless an important playmaking asset. Expect him to hit the pitch when Farfadillis has to face a particularly low block.

Marajis 32

A fast, slippery and pretty technical winger who's actually quite good at crosses when he can bother to attempt them instead of trying to dribble his way into the box. His decision-making has markedly improved over the years, however, so this isn't as much of an annoyance as it initially was. A massive scaredy-pussy who has nonetheless managed to put together a fairly decent career despite it. A potential key player if he can find his feet, but it's clear as day Yuan is trying to move on from him and find a more dependable replacement.
