It's good you're expressing interest in bidding, but I can't add you to the list of host bids until you present an actual bid, hopefully modeled after some of the previous bids. Other caveats also apply, like making sure you know how to use a scorinator, add RP bonus, etc.[/q

Thank you for your expression to host. That said I have many questions, most of which are already addressed by my colleagues. This specific one is important to ask, however:

Milk Island wrote:In the 2 tournaments we hosted I won one of them and my friend who is an Ex-nation won and it was fun for everybody

That is not disclosing the results of said private tournaments to the standards expected. Are the results of said tournaments searchable on forums or factbook?

Signups have been updated with Ambrosian Imperium and Loyo. The signup of You? was not accepted due to a lack of nickname. Should they return with a nickname, they will be signed up.

Reasons the host bid of Milk Island is not currently accepted:

1. Group stage and Round of 16 format not specified
2. No detail on how scores will be generated (a randomizer, whatever is referred to here, is not accepted practice on NS Sports)
3. "randomized innings throughout the match and will be used on either hitting or pitching it matters which side is better and the bonus will go to the worse side between hitting and pitching" - This sentence makes no sense in NS Sports context, as scorinators don't differentiate between hitting or pitching or affect single innings, at least not in the way Milk Island seems to think

Concerns, but not a reason to not accept a host bid:

1. RP Bonus of 2 to anyone who RPs - generally, participants look for RPs to be graded on a scale, so that "Lovisa win" is not given the exact same bonus as a detailed match report or a thousand-word character study. Not disqualifying, but definitely not typical
2. Deception about Milk Island's results in WBC 56 - they were eliminated in the group stage and did not make the Round of 16

The beautiful nation of Milk Island is extremely happy to host IBS XIX

Right now we currently have around 20 teams entered my goal is to get 24-32 teams for a group stage 5 teams per group if it stays at 20 teams 4 if it goes any higher, then a round of 16 with the top 2 teams from each group, the a quarterfinal (5 games) then the semifinal (5 games) the the final (7 games)

scoring will be held by Vephrall's NSFS and a rp bonus of 2 if you rp very well the rp bonus will be given to final score, and I or The Ambrosian's will grade your rps that matchday you will get a bonus of 2 The following tiebreakers will be: WIns, Run differential, then a irl coin flip. I may be helped a bit for games i play in by the lovely nation of The Ambrosian Imperium

International Baseball Slam 19 Bid
South Newlandia

About South Newlandia
South Newlandia is a small island in Esportiva located to the east of Super-Llamaland, and has about four million inhabitants, making it one of the smallest Esportivan countries. Baseball has been among the countries most played sports since their arrival to the international scene there, and besides successfully competing in many Baseball Slams and Classics, South Newlandia has also hosted both events before (12+17 and 51, respectively). The country is used to hosting all kinds of tournaments, including much bigger ones, and most visitors will find the country to be friendly and inviting.

Format
Should this bid be chosen to host the 19th International Baseball Slam, the event will be hosted with a new, unique format - three strikes, and you're out. Functioning similar to a Casaran/Swiss Tournament, teams will play an opponent with a similar record, almost always the same, as their own. As a simple example, after the first, entirely random matchday, ten teams will have started 1-0. On MD2, those ten teams will only be facing one another.
Once a team has lost three games, they are eliminated from the tournament. Play continues until only one team is left standing, who will then be declared IBS19 Champions.
Bye Games: If there are an uneven number of teams remaining, a random team will receive a bye. That team is ineligible to receive a bye again until all remaining teams have had at least one bye day already.
Rematches will be avoided as long as physically possible.
The exact number of matchdays is unknowable under this format, but with twenty teams, there should be around a dozen games. Should there be an unexpected influx of signups, it may take longer than that.
All teams will be assigned a South Newlandian Stadium, either from the LPB level or the College Baseball level, to play their "home games" in. The entire tournament will take place in South Newlandia.

Scorination
The Snelweg Formula, including line scores, will be used to scorinate the tournament. This new formula has been applied with great success in various different tournaments. Cutoffs will be spaced 48 hours apart, and will feature one matchday each.

RP Bonus
Bonus will be cumulative, with a maximum earnable for every cutoff, and will not decay throughout the tournament. There will be a generous roster bonus available. In general, quality will be valued over quantity.

Qualifications
The user behind South Newlandia has successfully hosted a variety of tournaments. With various co-hosts, they hosted World Cup 89, World Bowl 44 and International Basketball Championships 34. They also solo-hosted three Campionato Esportivas, and have been involved in scorinating the CEdC for multiple editions, alongside a variety of other smaller tournaments. Specific to baseball, they have scorinated Llamaphant Pro Baseball, the biggest baseball league on the forums encompassing multiple thousand games, for three seasons, and have hosted World Baseball Classic 51 and International Baseball Slams 12 and 17.

Should you have any questions about this bid, feel free to ask. Also, to be clear, no South Newlandian team will participate in the tournament.

Since the host bid deadline has passed, I will allow for three additional days of comment or competing bids with South Newlandia, meaning we will hopefully move to host voting over the weekend.

Milk Island's bid has not been accepted due to the incorrect nature of the Round of 16 (states there will be 4 groups, but that only two teams from each group will be advancing, making a Round of 16 mathematically impossible), the group stage format again being unstated, and "adding RP bonus to the final score", which is not accepted practice in NS Sports.

Kharakia would like to make a competing bid with the nation of South Newlandia.

About Kharakia
Located east across the Kharakian Sea from West Kharakia, Kharakia is an large island in the region of Anaia. It consists of two main cities, Kharakia City and Brusnia. The population is a group of very diverse people, ranging across all ethnic and religious groups. Baseball is the only sport played there often, besides soccer, and it is home to a baseball league, though the league also has teams from West Kharakia.

Format
South Newlandia has a great format, and I'm willing to keep that format in, though I will make some changes. Once 8 teams are left, the 8 teams will go into a knockout stage, with seeding being based off how many wins they managed to get during the first round (or "qualifiers"). If there are more than 25 teams in the competition by the time it starts, the knockout stage will expand to 12 teams. If there's more than 30, it will expand to 16 teams.
All games will be played in 1 of 4 stadiums, 1 being in Kharakia City, 2 in Brusnia, and 1 in Yutak.

Scorination
Good old xkorinate will be used to scorinate this tournament, should I host it.

RP Bonuses
RP Bonuses will be awarded with the SQIS formula.
Cutoffs will be had every 48 hours for RP Bonuses, though matchday results will be released every 24 hours, at approximately 8:00 EDT or 00:00:00 UTC. RP Bonuses will be applied for 2 matchdays each.

Qualifications
Kharakia has never hosted a tournament before. This being the first would be great since the tournament doesn't appear to have too many teams.

The Kharakia Bloodmoon will not participate in this tournament if I win this host bid. If I don't, they will still participate.

OOC: Due to personal issues, the tournament will have to start in the week of 4/10/23 (or 10/4/23 for non-Americans) if I'm hosting, as I will not have access to my computer.

Signups have been updated to include Spartan Dominion and Truestar. Germenia is currently being excluded for the same reason as You?, for not having a nickname. If either provide a nickname, they will be added. Kharakia's bid has been added to the OP, as I find no technical issues with it, though certainly folks are welcome to ask questions to clarify.

I simply fail to understand why a new RPer would withdraw their signup if they win the bidding process.

Sure, one could argue that this has been done before by Græntfjall in past, but he's a proven RPer and host who has stayed consistent to his policies over the years. Something that Kharakia isn't exactly a case of. Furthermore, it would make little IC sense, especially in that aspect, as most tournaments IRL would still see the hosts play in tournament proper anyway, results aside.

Another question I have for Kharakia is: What version of scorination files do you intend to use? It's easy to say Xkoranate, sure, but we have seen the sport change from use of default formula with the modified file and then Snelweg formula.

Kharakia wrote:RP Bonuses
