You liked it the first time.

Like holy shit, you REALLY liked it the first time.

Like so much so, we had to quadruple our production order in order to meet demand.

So here you are, you sick fucks, it's that time again.

THE OFFICIAL JR+HM INTERCHANGABLE CALENDAR, 2ND EDITION

Jaguar Racing, the defending NSSCRA Cup Series Champions, have collaborated once again with our good friends at Huuhkajat Moottoriurheilu and famous TJUN-ian calendar brand Views of Time (or Tuairimí an Ama in their native Gaeilge) for this 2nd edition, one that will celebrate both JR's title triumph and HM's rise in the T1 standings. You all understand the features by now, but just in case you don't or are new to this project:
- It is literally timeless as the TimeSwap technology means that your calendar automatically updates to the next year without any replacement required, allowing you to keep the pictures for as long as you want (those can be swapped as well if any updates come in the future).
- It costs USD10.00 (V9.50/7 ICB), with proceeds from each sale evenly split between JR, HM and Tuairimí an Ama.
- It's a great feature to have if you're a motorsports fan or not, if you're from TJUN-ia or Kimi-Suomi or from somewhere else in this vast multiverse.

This very impressive item will now be available in all respectable retailers in all NSSCRA participating nations, alongside the 1st edition from last year. Here's a preview of what images to expect, as taken during an off-season photo shoot in Eas-ar-Muir, NAU Zone (with a few updated shots to reflect sudden shifts).
JANUARY - "Lang Lebe Der Kaiser!" (Michael Stefan)
The Kaiser was born way back in Tundra Falls and this coronation fair celebrates the new name added to the NSSCRA Hall of Champions in a big way. We went all out for this one - cape, crown and all - and the look he is giving is one of a champion, one who is happy to be the Kaiser at this moment in time.

FEBRUARY - "Lanterns" (Gongming Gao)
Is Gao Gongming hot? Not according to Mayhem at least, but we certainly tried our best with this image inspired by the famous Lantern Festival. He gives off a sombre (but still cute) energy as he is seen casting away a North Chinese lantern into the water, in order to be replaced by his TJUN-ian new self. It's poignant but classy.

MARCH - "V U O H I" (Aurélia Karvonen)
How do you improve on the perfection that was last season's "Vouhi In The Snow"? How about a determined Karvonen in the middle of a chaotic snowstorm? It is as badass as it is beautiful - perfect for this powerful woman across all factors.

APRIL - "The New Dream" (Maddison Riley-Jones and Robin Dragonovic)
This image was created after the shock semi-retirement of the Dragon and, both he and MRJ combined to create an image that perfectly summed up the new era as both of them as a pair. It's a simple image, a hug between the two, but its simplicity brings great attention to the connection these 2 have for one another.

MAY - "Cross-Country In Blue" (Kaarina Salo)
The art of cross-country skiing may be Norwegian in heart and soul, but the Finns also consider it to be a national pastime when the white stuff begins to fall in Northern AO. Salo actually skis during the winter as a pastime, so seeing her in that sort of wear for this shoot makes all the sense...even in May!

JUNE - "Mirrors" (Lam Chow-Cheung)
The personas of Lam Chow-Cheung, Liam Chen and the Rainbow Kid became one after their first-ever NSSCRA win and to celebrate that, we have two LCCs to smile and wink to the crowd - one with and one without the mask, one in the race suit and one in the enby-coloured beizi they are now famous for. LCC has certainly arrived and now that they are in their true form, what is next for them?

JULY - "Summer In The CU" (Axel Chase)
Axel Chase may be a late addition to the team, but he managed to get in just in time for the photo shoot and oh boy, did he make his entrance with a bang. Axel brings the fire with what he calls his "warm style", with a vest and swim shorts paired with sunglasses, a sun hat and a smile that could melt icebergs. This man is hot and he knows he is...perfection.

AUGUST - "African Heat" (Alice Jepkosgei)
With her boyfriend opting for the lanterns, AJ goes towards that sort of direction too with this image involving an African-inspired cut dress, multiple candles and a look that screams beauty and also of defiance. She is a Queen and this look proves she knows it.

SEPTEMBER - "Leather Is Cool" (Alfonso Mercado)
How do you differentiate yourself now that your boyfriend is the fucking Kaiser? By being his hot, dark and mysterious boyfriend of course! Alfonso Mercado is feeling pretty pumped after making the Final 4 last year, and this badass leather jacket look is just a fantasy in its own right. He knows he has the Kaiser wrapped around his finger and this image shows that he has an identity of his own.

OCTOBER - "Spooky Season" ("Isfrúin" Harpa Gylfisdóttir, Daniel Marx and Derrick Carlisle)
The off-track gang all decided that this time, they would be vampires and that's how they rolled. It's all that needs to be said.

NOVEMBER - "Do You Like My Tie?"(Ilmari Pëkannen)
The usually loud and boisterous Myrsky decided to go in a suave direction, wearing a smart suit and a smart hat that said "yes, I may be a jackass at times, but I can be a cool dude when I want to be". Maybe people like that in a man, an attitude that bites but a style that soothes, but this is just cool overall.

DECEMBER - "Everyone Now!"
The traditional "everyone in the same shot" picture, complete with a disco theme this time. Everyone's having fun...and you should, too!

---北洋回到了!---

Beiyang is back! After two years of pandemic-related travel restrictions and economic chaos, the Northern Chinese Republic is open for business once again and the nation's largest car manufacturer is ready to put their brand back on the world stage.

Unfortunately, the pandemic and the upheaval it caused have put a strain on Chinese-Pharaki relations, so although international flights have returned to North Chinese airports, there are still ongoing problems on the southern border. The areas around Nanjing, Hankou, and Chongqing continue to see particularly strong tensions between Chinese patriots and supporters of the Sherpa occupation.

A spokesperson for Beiyang stated that despite the political situation, the company does not see a problem with competing in NSSCRA races on Pharaki soil. "Beiyang supports the right of the South Chinese people to choose whether they want to be reunited with China or remain under Sherpa rule," the spokesman said. "However, there should be no conflict surrounding Ramba or Guilin, and as such, there is no reason not to race there. Both cities are rightfully Pharaki."

Beiyang's statement caused a minor uproar among the far right, some of whom consider Guilin to be part of China, but the company has dismissed the complaints and ignored the threats of boycotts.

The Beiyang NSSCRA team is managed by the unholy triumvirate of Guofan Liu, Liangmei Li, and Andre Massena. Outside observers have questioned whether it is wise to have Li and Massena in the same room, considering their colorful personalities, but the company is confident that it cannot possibly go wrong.

---Meet the Drivers---

#33 Tyler Linde
Image
Originally from New Northwesteros, Linde made his NSSCRA debut in season 9 driving for Direwolf. When his career at Direwolf didn't really take off, he shifted gears and moved to IRACT full-time. It was a step down from NSSCRA, but it was a good place to hone his skills and enjoy the lifestyle of expat life in the Sherpa Empire. The Nanchang Racing Club welcomed him with open arms, as they were curious about what sort of foreigner would come to race with them and they thought it bolstered the club's prestige to have another NSSCRA veteran besides Dinggu Wang.

Beiyang was impressed with Linde's development in IRACT and thought he could appeal to both Western and local audiences because of his Northwesterosi roots and his experience living in the Chinese Territories. The company thought Linde's familiarity with Chinese language and culture would allow him to fit in at Beiyang more easily than other prospects from Western backgrounds, so that was a factor in their decision to offer him a charter.

#66 Joachim Murat
Image
Joachim Murat is a flamboyant French cavalry officer and an veteran NSSCRA driver with 2 seasons of experience. He's a little cocky and he's still not the best with modern technology, but his competitive spirit and marketability were enough to land him a ride. Murat has had some respectable finishes here and there, and Beiyang thinks he might still have some more untapped potential that didn't come through at the French Army's NSSCRA team because it was run by 18th century military officers instead of modern motorsports professionals.

Some of Murat's staff have accompanied him to Beiyang so that he will be at ease.

#88 Lightning Zhang (张电)
Image
Lightning Zhang might sound like a superhero or a nickname, but it is actually his real name. He has a brother named Thunder, who is his spotter. The whole family are free spirits, thrill seekers, and eccentrics. Their parents are in a traveling band, which made it easier for the family to travel around to different racing events when Lightning got interested in racing. They also used to travel around to different skateboarding events so that Thunder could pursue his dream of becoming a professional skateboarder, but all of that changed when Thunder was injured in a devastating accident. All the partying and traveling came to a screeching halt. Thunder was hospitalized for several weeks and never regained the ability to walk. Lightning brought him onto his racing crew, even though it took some extra work to get Thunder situated with a good view of the track, because he thought it would take Thunder's mind of the fact that he couldn't skateboard anymore. Since then, the two brothers have been enjoying each other's companionship and working toward Lightning's dream of becoming an NSSCRA champion.

Zhang is a young up-and-coming driver at the start of his career. Beiyang signed him because they see a lot of upside and they wanted a local driver who would appeal to the home crowd in North China.

NSSCRA Pick 'em - Fantasy Sports Competition

Tundra Falls Proving Grounds, Tundra Falls, Newmanistan :: Vilita & Turori Racer is preparing for the kick off of the Thirteenth NSSCRA Season with the return of its NSSCRA Pick 'em Fantasy Sports Competition with minimal changes to the competition from its multiverse-wide contest held during previous NSSCRA Seasons. Fans looking to participate in VTRacer's NSSCRA Pick 'em Competition should finalize their team selections prior to the season opening Tundra Falls 500.

Each Pick 'em Team will consist of 5 drivers; 1 each from five different Grade of drivers with the defending championship Four drivers; Reigning champion #07- Michael Stefan of TJUN-ia,and the remainder of the NSSCRA Season 13 Championship 4 drivers as well as #31 Gwen Racer Allison Oxton of Valentine Z and Vilita and Turori Motorsports driver Yraaga Gilli'i will be available for selection in Grade 1. Entries will earn points based on the performance of each of their five selected drivers during each event. Throughout the season a user can make change to trade one driver within a Grade for any other driver in the same Grade at a cost of an additional 2 fantasy championship points per transaction by submitting the transaction in writing through the Vilita and Turori Racer Pick 'em Form.

VT Racer may re-seed drivers during the regular season based on their performance in the NSSCRA standings while adding any drivers who were not assigned an initial Grade. If an entry includes a driver who is promoted to a higher tier during a re-assessment, that driver will be grandfathered in their original slot and continue to count as against that entries original tier until such a point they are dropped from the team and subsequently re-added at a later date.

The standard Pick 'em Competition will culminate with the Pencurve Electronics 500 at the Jalton Superspeedway after which Fantasy prizes will be awarded and the VTRacer NSSCRA Chase Pick 'em competition would begin.

ROCKET MUST CARRY THE MOMENTUM

The 13th season of NSSCRA had been going along much like many of the prior seasons for Rocket Motorsports: fighting for positions somewhere in the mid-20's while watching the best teams of the sport win races and collect top 10's. But as the season went on, the tide began to change a little bit, with many people pointing to the Drake Stevenson- Taylor Henderson incident that took out Chelsea Taylor as the spark the woke up the entire team. Perhaps that was what this team really needed. It wasn't just a chase of Chelsea being caught in someone else's problem, but the fact that the guilty parties did not seem to initially care about the #24 car. It would not be much longer before Taylor began to get hot, figuratively speaking of course, and soon that began to show in the results of Ashley Matthews. Later in the season, it would be announced that Daryl Calhoun, the former Everlong series champion would be heading to Rocket to drive the #5 car. It's not the first time that they have had a well known person in the seat of that ride, but Calhoun is likely a better fit for this team than Liangmei Li ever was.

As the 14th season of NSSCRA is set to begin, there is optimism within the team. Can they contend for wins? We will get our answers soon enough! We'll be having an exhibition race kicking off very soon for our first glimpse of everyone in their new rides. Both Rocket drivers that needed to get in on speed were able to do so. Perhaps, this can be the year. We know we won't win a title, but a win somewhere in the season is the goal. If we can't have that, we'll settle for simply being more competitive.
Six-time World Baseball Classic Champions
Now just here to run NSSCRA. Thank you to the community for all the fun in other sports.

Ah, but they’re doing their diligence. If I were in their position… Well. Hmm.

Would I?

Alani Candour ponders it, twirling a lock of shining silvery hair. Placing herself in the position of the Sherpan officials isn’t so hard; she casts her mind out, trying to consider how she might feel if the bottled Imagination she had been carrying up to a few minutes ago had been in the hands of a new arrival to the Wardship. So far, fine, if intriguing. (She brushes away the small part of her that tenses up at the thought.)

Then, drawing on the small knowledge of Sherpan magic she already has (remembering what little she has learned sends a part of her thought on a momentary detour into well-rehearsed curiosity) and identifying the closest comparison to their likely perception, she considers how she might feel if the bottle instead contained a remnant of the Maelstrom.

The cascade of horror, terror, fury and revulsion that passes through Alani makes her sit up, rigid, in her seat in the side room off the border control zone at Sunan Shuofang International Airport. Her interpreter, one Estelle, shoots her a concerned gaze; she breathes, letting the will to throw up a defence by freezing the air, raising the ground, seizing something around her with force… dissipate. “It’s fine, I’m managing.”

The woman beside her offers a smirk, albeit one with warmth in it. “Yeah. Bit on edge myself. Understandable.”

“It’s normally not this bad?”

A shrug. “Never tried to bring Imagination in before.”

There’s silence after that. It rests upon the room, tense and taut, until the two Sherpan border officers return – the woman in the lead wearing the fancier-looking uniform carrying her bottle and the accompanying sheaf of altogether too much paperwork, a man in similar but less decorated garb behind. Alani stands to meet them, turning back a moment to disentangle the cape of her dark blue robes from the chair. She runs her hand along the fabric, smiling at the thought of all the summoners of the origin universe who bore similar raiments, before taking another to hope that they fight on – or, better yet, that that fight is resolved in their favour.

Seven decades since the war began… So long, and it still defines us.

She blinks. Estelle and the leading official are engaged in conversation that she can’t quite make out… Her Sherpa language skills are coming on but by no means perfect yet. What snatches she does hear – talk of ‘admittance’ and ‘in order’ – seem promising… Of course, they could be negating all of that. She does seem awfully tense…

And so it is with some relief that the woman hands the dispenser and the paperwork to her travelling companion with a curt nod. Estelle offers a smile and a nod back, then addresses Alani. “All good – we’re clear to go. Tell you the details when we’re through.”

“Right.” Alani smiles, before turning to the two officials. “Thuche.

The well-dressed woman frowns a touch, giving a final nod, then striding away from the room. The man at her shoulder goes to follow her, then pauses and turns with a curious expression on his face. “Pardon,” he says in accented but good English – It is that that he speaks, not Universal, Alani reminds herself – “but are you to be working with Shuzhen Zhu, in NSSCRA?”

Alani raises her eyebrows, but composes herself, letting the little thrill of joy run through her. “Actually, yes, I – we are, yes. I’ll be teaching her.”

“Oh! Oh, good!” The man lights up. “I’m her fan!” He lowers his voice. “I never doubted her over anything to do with you Yunguoren – she speaks out for us in Xiazhou. Keep it like that!” The grin reasserts itself. “Give her luck!”

“We… We will!” Not entirely sure whether to feel honoured or terrified, Alani simply nods enthusiastically, letting Estelle offer a few words of assurance and further thanks in Sherpa before the two go on.

Really need to make progress with the language-learning… She casts her gaze about as they pass through the baggage claim – their own sent on long ahead of them – then the final few sets of doors towards the airport’s exit, hearing the many voices of her fellow travellers.

“Well! If you’ve not noticed already, welcome to Xiazhou, northern Sherpa Empire,” Estelle announces cheerily. She lifts the bottle in her hand, seemingly only noticing now that she’s still holding it, and tosses it gently towards Alani.

Instinct, honed over months of training. The bottle stops dead in the air with a brief glow of blue light, then falls into Alani’s waiting palm.

Both women freeze. Alani glances about furtively.

Nobody seems to have taken especial notice.

“Car hire?”

“Yes, let’s.”

Tundra Falls Proving Grounds, Tundra Falls, Newmanistan
During the Exhibition at the Proving Grounds

As you could see, Drake Stevenson was in rare form. Midseason form, you might say.

In the morning before a race, Kai Qiang always started the day by having a nice breakfast with his crew chief Houzhi Chang. Usually they talked shop about their plans for the day, but on this particular morning there weren't many things that they needed to go over. It was a familiar track, a low-stakes race with no points on the line, and they had not run into any big problems as they prepared for the race. That left them with a spare moment to reflect on the season ahead.

"So what do you think about the whole Xianing thing?" Chang asked. He added as a joke, "Do you think Zhu is a Nimban spy?"

Qiang rolled his eyes. "Zhu's using the same amount of Imagination she used last season. They're just saying the quiet part out loud. You know, if the Sherpa government was smart, they'd hire her to spy for them -- against the Wardship."

"You think she'd do it?"

"Of course..." Qiang started to say, but then he stopped and gave it a second thought. "Actually, that's a good question. I don't know. I'd totally spy on the Wardship if I could go there for more than about 5 minutes without punching someone in the face, but I don't know if Zhu would. She likes them for some reason."

Chang laughed. "Come on, Qiang, you took an anger management class. I'm sure you can go more than 5 minutes without punching somebody."

"Okay, I probably wouldn't literally punch anyone in the face if we had a race at Crossbay Circuit," Qiang admitted. "But the Nimbans are still annoying."

Chang shrugged. "Are they more annoying than Mendok or Rinzi?"

"I put up with Mendok because she's my wife," said Qiang. "I'm not married to anyone in the Wardship. Thank heavens. Can you imagine having one of them and their gadgets in the same house with Cammy? It's hard enough trying to keep her from playing with my tools. If she got her hands on Imagination, she'd probably throw a truck into the side of cliff and turn the neighbor's dog inside out."

"Yeah, but she gets that from Mendok," said Chang. "If you had a Nimban wife, you might have kids that don't try to stab you."

"Hey, I have kids that don't try to stab me!" Qiang protested. "Two of them! Their names are Sima and Jiali." (Qiang's son is "Charlie" in English or "Qiang Jiali" in Chinese, and they are speaking Chinese here.)

Chang laughed. "Jiali is only 3 months old. Give him time!"

Qiang didn't want to think about what the next several years would be like if his son turned out to be as rowdy as Cammy. He turned his attention to his breakfast so he didn't have to think about it. The breakfast burrito he was eating was really tasty, just the right amount of seasoning to bring out the flavors without being overpowering.

After a couple more bites of burrito Qiang mused, "I wonder if the government actually has hired Zhu to spy on the Wardship..."

Chang sighed. "Qiang, can you please not get yourself on any more government watchlists? If she is a spy, you don't want to blow her cover. But she's probably not, and I don't think she would appreciate you suggesting it."

"Okay, you're right," said Qiang. "I'll drop it."

Olo Racing - Meet the Drivers!

The squad of Olo Racing from Obrela are eager to make their debut in the NSSCRA 14 season, and are fired up and ready for what is to come.

Image

#53 Masina Fualema

Age: 27
Gender: Female
Twii.tur: @MFualema53
Past Victories: Obrelan National Prix 2016

Masina Fualema grew up around cars, with both her brother and father being semi-pro drivers and fairly well known on the island. It only made sense that she would join in the newfound family tradition.

As a teenager, Masina raced almost every other week and rose the ranks, gaining a reputation as one of the best young drivers on the island. It was no surprise then, when Olo Racing, the island's top motorsports team, reached out to her and her brother and offered them both a sport on their team.

At the age of 20 she accepted the offer from the team and began racing professionally, even winning the Obrelan National Prix, cementing her reputation as the best female driver on the island. It was only natural that she would be picked for the squad travelling around the world for the NSSCRA season.

She is respected by the fans for her competitive spirit and tenacious nature, and admired for her dedication to the sport and willingness to give back to her community. She donated to multiple Obrelan charities and often talks in schools to inspire young girls especially to follow their dreams.

#82 Toa Fualema

Image

Age: 31
Gender: Male
Twii.tur: @ToaFualema82
Past Victories: Obrelan National Prix 2015, 2019 and 2022

Toa Fualema had a childhood much like his sister's, entering semi-pro racing competitions from a young age, largely due to his father's influence. He quickly grew attached to the sport and held an innnate talent as well as a deep love for the track. Olo Racing scouted him out and invited him to join their team at the same time they asked Masina.

He joined the team at the same time as his sister and won the Obrelan National Prix on several occasions, annoying his sister to no end when he lorded his trophies over her. He has an aggressive and impulsive driving style, very similar to his sister, and never backs down from a challenge, which doesn't always go his way.

When he's not racing, Toa is a bit of a social media star. He uses his good looks to gain likes and followers on Twii.tur, having a current follower count of around 624K. He also often volunteers at the local motorsports center where he trained, and encourages the youngsters of Obrela to get into motorsports and follow their dreams, much like his sister.

#17 Tamah Taupo

Image

Age: 24
Gender: Female
Twii.tur: @TT17
Past Victories: None

Tamah Taupo got into racing due to her mother, who was a mechanic. She comes from a relatively rural part of the island, and grew up surrounded by beaches and stunning landscapes. Despite all this, Tamah still wanted to be someone on the motorsports team. She idolised the Fualema siblings, though they were only a few years older than her.

She began properly comepeting in the sport at the age of 18 and quickly demostrated raw talent. Despite her lack of experience, she soon caught the eye of Olo Racing, who recruited her as their third driver. Working alongside the Fualema siblings was a dream come true for the young driver, and she has worked hard ever since, honing her skills and gaining experienced with each race.

She is known for her quiet determination and unwavering commitment to the sport, and the fans are super supportive, cheering her on her journey. She prefers to stay out of the public eye, prefering to spend time either alone or with close friends and family around, enjoying and appreciating the sights of her island home.

On the morning of the race, Masina just couldn't find a way to sit still. She kept getting up to check over her car, adjusting and calibrating to make sure everything was in peak condition.
"Misi, relax. You're going to be fine." Her big brother Toa entered the garage, placing a hand on her shoulder, "Look, I know it's a big day, but try to relax."
"How can I? The whole of Obrela will be watching me. Dad will be watching me. What will he think if I don't make him proud?"
"Look, you know he won't care about that." Toa leaned down, placing both his hands on her shoulders and looking into her eyes, "The only thing that matters is that you're happy."
She turned away, tears stinging her eyes, "Well I'm only happy if I've won."

***

Masina sat in her car, revving up her engine. Come on, where was that green light already? She just wanted to get out on the track. Then maybe everything would fit together better. There it was! The light flashed green and Masina kicked into gear, speeding off down the track. She relaxed. This was the life. She always felt better in her car, the stands rushing past outside her window. She was positioned just behind the first real jostle for first and moved her car into a favourable position as they all rushed around the first corner.
"I'm in the mix guys, let's go." Toa and Tamah heard her loud and clear through the car radio. She sneaked a glance at the stop clock. Yup, she would definitely finish if she kept this pace up. She moved for another turn but something didn't feel... quite right this time. The car seemed slightly more sluggish. It wouldn't have been noticable to regular drivers, but Masina was so in tune with her vehicle. She decided to wait for the next turn to see if it was just an anomaly. Nope. This time her car jolted violently, sending her into the wall and screeching along it as sparks flew.
"F***!" Masina exclaimed as she got off the wall and back onto the track, "Assistance needed urgently guys, she feels loose."
As she came in to pit, the mechanics rushed out and began checking over the car. They made some adjustments and pronouncedit safe to drive. Before long, she was back out on the track again, but far behind. She knew she already had a DNF, there was no question about that. Tears pricked her eyes once again as she crossed the finish line dejectedly. Stepping out of her car, she turned to see her brother, who pulled her into a tight hug.
"Hey. There's always next time right?" But Masina pushed him away, heading for the garage and fighting the urge to swipe angry tears from her eyes.

When Beiyang's haulers arrived at Tundra Falls, they were accompanied by a van with the name "TYPHOON" emblazoned on the side in tilting oversized blue and white letters. The van was also decorated with big strokes of bluish gray and white made to look like torrents of slashing rain. It could have easily been mistaken for a vendor's or sponsor's vehicle, but it actually belonged to an obscure Chinese rock band. The four members of the band were seated at the front of the van; and instruments, amps, and other luggage filled the space at the back. Typhoon had never toured in Newmanistan before. They only began releasing music on the Newmanistanian market when downloads and streaming services replaced CDs, so they no longer had to worry about making or shipping a physical product.

The trip to Tundra Falls was not something they would have done under normal circumstances, but the frontman and the bassist were Lightning Zhang's parents, and they wanted to see his NSSCRA debut. The drummer and the guitarist who had been dragged along for the ride studied their surroundings with curious expressions, like they didn't quite understand where they were or how they had gotten there. They had brought the whole band along and lined up a few gigs to try and promote their music, but all the money they earned would probably be spent on food and drinks by the time they left Tundra Falls. It wasn't about making money. It was about being there.

One of the gigs was at a promotional event for Beiyang, and part of their payment was using Beiyang's cargo plane to fly their van from Shenyang to Tundra Falls. The frontman Xianzhi Zhang was not as young and sexy as he used to be, and it was not as easy as it used to be to belt out a song without wrecking his throat, but he gave it everything he had. It wasn't everyday he got to go on an international tour and perform in such a big flashy place. And this was his chance to get people excited about his son's racing team. Xianzhi was hoarse and out of breath by the end of the show, but what a rush!

Lightning Zhang took it pretty hard when he didn't even qualify for the exhibition race. His family and his crew were quick to remind him that it was only the preseason exhibition and he still had the whole season ahead of him, but Lightning wasn't having it. "Dude, you don't get it," he said. "I drove as fast as I could and I didn't even make the race! What makes you think it's going to be any different next weekend?"

"The best dreams are the ones you have to fight for," Xianzhi said. "The harder it is, the more special it will be when you finally make it."

"That's a load of shit, dad!" Lightning stormed off in a huff. He needed some time alone with his own thoughts until he could calm down.

When he returned, Xianzhi and Thunder were sitting around talking and smoking with cans of Tiger Beer in their hands. "It's not just skateboarding..." Thunder was saying. "It's everything. Like dating -- When I was skateboarding, all the girls liked me, but now they won't even look at me."

"Do you really want to be with someone that only liked you because you were good at skateboarding?" Xianzhi asked.

Lightning sat down and took a can of beer, but let them continue their conversation. His brother obviously had some stuff he needed to get off his chest.

"Everyone wants to say it's not about looks or it's not about money, but sometimes it is," said Thunder. "If girls think you're attractive, then maybe you can get to know each other and find some things you have in common. But if they won't even give me a chance, then what am I supposed to do?" He took a swig of beer and sighed wistfully.

The Valentians – Race 0 – Exhibition at The Proving Grounds Presented by Rocket Automotive, Tundra Falls Proving Grounds, Newmanistan (Superspeedway)

All the familiar faces, she thought to herself. Thumbing through the list of entrants, she definitely recognized the Valentian names, including the ones that have joined for the very first time, along with a few reshuffles here and there – one of them went to Everlong because it was less stressful that way, while another ¬– a Valentian participant for IRACT – came up in Garden at 6th Mile Road (G6MR)’s Multiversal Roster. “That’s fair enough!” she thought to herself, “No harm with that!” The only constants, ones who have been there since day one, – it would seem for the time being, are the two of them – Clarissa Alanis Star Samantha, and herself, in the Valentian Multiversal Team. That, of course, does not guarantee a victory, as she had noticed in the past few seasons, in particular, the winnings going to Anastasia Freya Yadana Aye. No harm with that either, and to be absolutely fair, Anastasia got what it takes, and her performance was – and still is – definitely something that is still more or less unparalleled. Gwen Tracer Allison Oxton put the sheet back into her carry-on, her temporary room having the bare minimum of items.

It was that time again in NSSCRA 14, she thought. As aforementioned, there were a lot of familiar faces coming back, some of them seem to be missing from the action if the newspaper of the various countries they are from, are of any indication. Either way, with the new season, all Gwen hoped was for a spectacular performance, perhaps even taking the championship by mere points alone and winning only because it was absolutely needed. “Otherwise, like I said, I think I can give that podium finish but not winning a try! But hey, that is actually much more difficult, you know what I mean? You have to be very good for the podium, BUT you also must let the guy, girl, or whoever in front of you to win, so to speak. So you need to be good, but not THAT good. Will I go through with this? Well, I honestly don’t know, anything can go with these events, you know what I mean? I am just hoping for the best, really.”

To everyone else, that last sentence is trivial – a sentence that denotes that they simply wished that everything will go their way, and that they can pull through this season. For someone like Gwen Tracer Allison Oxton, of course, things were a lot more complicated. In an above-top-secret email that she once again sent to the top few Valentians in The Sixty, she stated: “Hello, my friends, and well, I guess at this point, you know by now as to why I am once again sending this message. With another season coming up, and with us going to the track for the exhibition race once again, it is imperative once again and to confirm this email as paper trail that, well, I will be doing the usual time and space manipulation that I have been doing for the previous seasons. Make no mistake, I am NOT doing this to give myself an edge, nor to anyone else; I firmly believe that I am doing this for the better and greater good of all. None of them (the racers, the pit crew, the audience, etc) may know in any immediate future, that I have been adjusting the timeline to prevent major catastrophes and deaths along the way, what with motorsports generally an extremely dangerous type. So, I often times have to do these rewinding and changing some events here and there so that everyone may live. With that said, there might be, however, some events where it had to happen, because the alternative might have been way worse, days/weeks/months/years down the line, and that was the “best” scenario to happen. If the NSSCRA Officials found out about this – we will come clean as always, and to reiterate that we have never, not in our lives, cheated to get an unfair advantage in the field, and this season will be no different. It will be, however, difficult to explain to them of the abilities and powers that we have. End of message, for now.”

On the more lighthearted note, of course, there was general excitement and happiness in the air, with the audience and fans cheering for their respective drivers, who in turn are doing their absolute best and supported by their very own crew chiefs and crews. It was time for the Valentians and Gardeners to re-familiarize with NSSCRA, since it has been 2 years since their last season, and with this being an Exhibition Race, there was nothing to lose and to fret for, other than to simply trying their best. Valkyrie Valentijn Samantha Constantine, for instance, has also garnered quite a handful of fans herself, ones that she adore and respect, even towards the ones that are perhaps a little… eccentric, just like with her at times. Come the last few laps of the race, there was a pattern happening on the front of the grid, as a result of the numbers of the cars. Leading the pack was Adriana Ela Kowalski Lillian herself with her professional and elegant white-and-light-blue #40, followed by Hapilopper’s Colin Meredith with #00, Saint Kanye’s Sage Caldwell with #20, V&T’s Rockii Ezis with #60, and finally, Hapilopper’s Alex Remington with his #0 car. So all things considered, all Valentijn had to do was to overtake the car in front of her – one Edmund Flanders in his #47, who was also a Hapilopperian. “Wow, these guys must have been practicing hard!” was Valentijn’s thought, but she definitely knew that she could overtake him, and she nearly did at that particular moment for the “String of 6 drivers with cars ending with a 0, just for the fun of it.” So, there was the question as to why she didn’t.

She got distracted. Not by a driver, or a pit crew, the NSSCRA official waving the checkered flag, none of that. It was, however, by one particular fan whose sign was displayed on one of the big screens along the race track. A sign, that she was a bit baffled and even maybe a little embarrassed, and that distraction was more than enough. “SIT ON ME VALENTIJN” in big blue bolded words, Valentijn mouthed off “What the hell?” before she then focused back on the track. There was perhaps certainly commentary on that sign, who that person holding the sign was, and the like. For Valentijn, however, she was more than ready to forgive that anonymous person because for one, she did find it amusing, if a little weird. After all, it’s not the most raspy thing that she has seen, not during her life, during her stint as the leader of the two planet-sized country, and everything else along the way. And on top of that, she wanted to roll with it. The question, of course, was whether or not she should, owing to the fact that she is, after all, a nation’s leader, and even for lighthearted and humored Valentians, there is still a degree of professionalism as well as decency that is going on. On the other hand, it is not one of those M18+ things, not by a long shot. “It’s definitely very amusing,” Valentijn remarked with a large smile and laughing in-between the interview, her helmet off and being held in her hand, “I mean, I don’t think it would be that inappropriate, and I could definitely spin this to be rather funny at the end of the day. But of course, again, none of the raspy and coarse stuff, I don’t roll with that.”

@ValkyrieVal

I am going to be very honest - I actually held off writing this because it would be a little inappropriate, but to the person with that sign today at Proving Grounds, I mean... I can, but I don't really want to, all right? I have had enough trouble making sure I don't squash anyone by accident!

Uh... @ValkyrieVal, we're going over 200 mph. How the hell are you able to spot a sign in the stands and properly read it going that fast?

The Gardeners – Race 0 – Exhibition at The Proving Grounds Presented by Rocket Automotive, Tundra Falls Proving Grounds, Newmanistan (Superspeedway)

Zastępca Strażnika Adriana Krystal Desiree “Cudowny Manipulacja Światłem” Venus Kowalski Faith Stanisława Engelse I. Cherise Krystyna Zaborowska Sztormowska Pamela Alina Re. T. Lillian did it, she thought to herself. Her very first race – even if it was an exhibition with no points attached to the finishes – means that she was performing at her very best just as expected. On top of that, if she was able to carry out this kind of performance for the rest of the season, then she is all set and is proof that the formula racing, with enough adjustments and background performance checks and calculations done by her, can translate into the world of NSSCRA. The road courses might see her performing even better, but for the time being, that is something to think of for the other days. She along with the rest of the Gardeners (and the Valentians) did pretty okay and climbing, except perhaps poor Jamie Izabella Marie Astrid Eirian who was not able to make it through the qualifications for this exhibition. “Well, I suppose there is more to this than the Exhibition!” Jamie commented onto the crowd, more than half of them perhaps more enamored by her sweet, sweet Transatlantic accent, and just making up a few questions so that she would speak as much as she could. “Ahhh, yes! Hello! I used to be in IRACT, as some of you might have noticed me now…”

While Jamie was busy with her own interview and fans, Adriana went back to the drop ship, analyzing the performance of the other clone of hers in the OWARS. This was one of the very first cloning attempts from Valentine Z, what with them rather sensitive about the idea of two instances running together, lest the data merging becomes difficult. This was also done out of necessity, what with Clarissa Alanis Star Samantha in NSSCRA, while her clone, Clarissa Alanis Taissa Star, stayed with her Valentian Kittens group in order to help them out with the World Cup-related things. That part, went relatively, though mainly because the cloned version of Clarissa did not exactly have much expectations towards her; all she need to do is to help the Kittens out with the logistics. Adriana and her clone, on the other hand, are both participating in the sport itself, with Adriana Kowalski Ela Lillian, the original, in the NSSCRA series, while Adriana Ela Kowalski Lillian, her clone, was running the OWARS, and then was slated to run in WGPC as well if the officials have approved that she will be able to do so. Effectively, OWARS was a test run of its own to test the Adriana clone. As far as the original Adriana was concerned, her clone was doing relatively… mediocre. Sure, the Sprint Race in The Tyrrhenian Heavens saw her getting 1st position, but apart from that, along with the previous race netting her 2 points, clone-Adriana did not get any points for the previous races, and was not doing so well as compared to the other drivers. Further investigation shows that there was a small error in copying.

That is, to keep herself and make sure that she is the original, only the original AIs and persons are entitled with 100% of their memories. Their clones, on the other hand, with approval and having run through several books and researches regarding cloning and ethics, were stated by the Valentians to only receive 90% of the memories of their original. This cutting of memories is rather general, in the sense that not one specific part was taken out, but rather across all of the memories. As a result, as can be seen with the tales of two Clarissa(s), one remembered herself donning an orange-colored hair more often, while the other is aware that she has been increasingly using her black hair styles. For the Adriana(s), it was a bit more problematic. The aforementioned small error and typo turned out to be rather disastrous, as the cloned Adriana – one running OWARS and WGPC in the future if an original has not finished her NSSCRA season by then – only has 9% of her original’s memory, a significant chunk of experience and formula racing data that are also missing. “So we accidentally put 9% instead of 90% cloning. … Whoops,” the original Adriana commented, patting her clone on the back and ensuring her that she is doing her best and that it’s not the fault of hers. “Hey, don’t worry about it! We have been there when we first started, remember? Oh, err, not the good choice of words, but yeah, it was like that at that time, so don’t worry too much about it! Just try your best and… maybe after this season is over, let’s see if we can finish and copy-merge the rest of the 81% of content!”

Tundra Falls Proving Grounds, Tundra Falls, Newmanistan
The week between the Exhibition and the Tundra Falls 500

Maybe the best part about having two consecutive races at the same track, in the same city, was that Oliver Marlin Racing didn’t have to leave town and they could spend a week getting ready for the next race. It allowed Tyson Hoyt a chance to take a breather and enjoy the sights and sounds around Tundra Falls with his new wife. It allowed Ray Harding to try to get acclimated to the NSSCRA world. And it allowed Roosevelt Jenkins to find new, creative ways to get selfies of everything around him.

Roosevelt had taken the failure to qualify very, very badly, something that Tyson had asked him to not do – because after all, he was going to face a difficult journey in his first season. And on top of that, it was an exhibition race. Everyone was still, theoretically, on the same equal ground as they had been a few days before. But that didn’t stop Roosevelt from freaking out about it, from losing sleep over it.

The morning after the race, Roosevelt tracked down both Tyson and Ray at breakfast, asking them what they did that was so different from what he did.

“We just got lucky,” Tyson explained. “It’s a huge field of drivers, man. Some of these guys will get weeded out. Keep doing what you’re doing and we’ll be fine.”

“But is there something that, you know, we should probably do to get a leg up?” Roosevelt said. “You know, like…”

“Yes, but what do you have in mind?” Tyson asked.

“I don’t know,” Roosevelt said. “But it looks really bad for me if I fail to qualify for races.”

“Then keep working at it,” Tyson said. “You’ll get it. You’re a damn talented driver. Better than who was in that seat last.”

So, all throughout the day, Roosevelt, instead of taking countless selfies of himself, decided instead to research ways he could get into the race rather than sitting on the sidelines come race time – and these were methods that went beyond “be smooth in your lines” and “don’t jerk the wheel too hard.” That afternoon, as he went to lunch at a nearby restaurant in Tundra Falls, Roosevelt saw a goateed man of slight build taking to some people as they discussed what sounded like racing. The conversation interested Roosevelt, so he decided to walk over to join the conversation.

“...one thing my guys did was we used dry ice to cool the fuel,” the goateed man said. “That gave us some extra horsepower and it allowed us to get some speed. Of course, the NSSCRA guys found that out pretty quickly and made us take it out, so we were dead in the water.”

“You ran NSSCRA?” one person asked.

“Yeah, one year,” the goateed man responded. “Eventually we subcontracted to another team and we were marginally more successful. But if we were smarter about it, we could have gotten some good results.”

“How so?” another asked.

“Everyone cheats in racing,” the goateed man said. “If someone ain’t cheating, they’re not trying hard enough to win. I imagine the Valentians are doing one form of cheat, Team Blue is doing another form of cheat and Jaguar Racing is doing another. Hell, I’d watch out for the Nimbus guys with that cute Sherpa girl, what’s her name… Zhu?”

“What are they doing?” Roosevelt chimed in.

The goateed man looked over and realized it was someone that probably knew what he was talking about, not just some mere fan.

“Brother, you know Imagination, right?” the man said. “As soon as I heard that Zhu girl was working with the Nimbus boys, I figured they’re using that Imagination shit to get some power through some, you know, mysterious ways. Exotic materials and what have you. That said… who are you? You look familiar.”

“Roosevelt Jenkins.”

“Bart Wheeler. Good to meet you, kid.”

“Likewise. So, what do you know about dry ice?”

“Cools the fuel, gives you some more power,” Wheeler said. “Why do you ask? You looking for a way to skirt the rules? Because if I were you I’d be smarter about it. You never know who’s listening, and frankly you don’t know who I’m working for. For all you know I could be working for NSSCRA. Or I could be working for one of the top teams as a consultant, as a way to help them creatively interpret the rulebook.”

“Well, you know, I’m just looking for a way to make races,” Roosevelt said.

“I appreciate your honesty,” Wheeler said. “But I’d be careful if I were you. Loose lips sink ships. If you’re going to discuss skirting the rulebook, you need to make sure you’re speaking to the right people, and that the wrong people don’t overhear. See that guy back there?”

Wheeler was pointing to some random person in the restaurant eating a hamburger.

“That guy could be a NSSCRA official,” Wheeler said. “He’s not saying anything, and he’s not looking over, but he might be sending a message to the chief inspector. Check Roosevelt Jenkins’ car a little harder this week. He’s talking about dry ice. I appreciate your efforts to find extra speed, keep that in mind. But don’t be a dipshit about it.”

“Sure.”

Wheeler passed a business card over to Roosevelt.

“Give me a call tonight. Have your guys join in on the call,” Wheeler said. “But not here, because you never know who’s listening. Part of the reason I ain’t driving anymore.”

Aika Aloittaa Uudelleen (Time To Restart)

Postby Kimi-Suomi » Wed Mar 01, 2023 5:38 pm

Oh boy, here we go again. Hello, my name is Mätiyäs Eskolinen and, if you need any introduction, I consider myself an expert in all things moottoriurheilua Kimi-Suomessa. Last season was certainly a mixed bag on my part, accurately predicting the T2 Champion but not the T1 Champion. Considering that I didn't absolutely crash and burn last time out, I am a little bit hopeful that I can at least perform to a good standard this time around...so kenelle menen tällä kertaa?

If They Ain't In, Something Went Horribly Wrong/Jos He Eivät Ole Mukana, Jokin Meni Hirveän Pieleen
Alfonso Mercado (JYK-inen/TJUN-ia)
Michael Stefan (JYK-inen/TJUN-ia)
Rinzi Aogar Zakhilwal (Hapilopper)
Jeremiah Brooke (Pyhä Kanye/Saint Kanye)
Stacie Houston (Pyhä Kanye/Saint Kanye)
Kai Qiang (Sherpa-Imperiumi/The Sherpa Empire)
Tsering Chu (Sherpa-Imperiumi/The Sherpa Empire)
Drake Stevenson (Hapilopper)
These 8 are my surefire bets as, like last year, I feel like they will be in unless something is fucked at some point. Considering 3 from this category failed to make it in last time, things certainly are not sure-fire...but right now, before points are scored, these 8 feel safe...right?

More Than Likely/Enemmän Kuin Todennäköistä
Thea Alvarez (Pyhä Kanye/Saint Kanye)
Chris Holmes (Hapilopper)
Lam Chow-Cheung (Kimi-Suomi)
Koshiro Kawai (Abanhfleft)
Two NSSCRA icons and two drivers who tasted race success for the very first time last season - these guys make up my "More Than Likely" picks. Alvarez seems like she's hungry to bounce back, Holmes will always be towards the front no matter what and with Koshiro-san winning the Exhibition, the Duisburg driver seems to be a natural choice here. Putting LCC here would've been seen as local bias last year but now? No one would be complaining too much, because they certainly understand how much talent the #38 has at his fingertips. I feel confident he can make it back.

The Final Four/Finaali Neljä
Gwen Tracer Allison Oxton (Valentine Z)
Yraaga Gilli’i (Vilita ja Turori/Vilita & Turori)
Anastasia Freya Yadana Aye (Valentine Z)
River ‘Shark’ Suzgar II (Vilita ja Turori/Vilita & Turori)
The only reason both Val Z and V&T find themselves here is that out of all the teams in this sport, these two are the hardest to predict. Having two from both down here sounds pretty sound, but who knows if it will be these exact 4 who end up making it in from their teams...as I'm sure both Clarissa and Tizilna will have something to say about this.

First Four Out/Ensimmäinen Neljä Ulos
Islago Tizilna (Vilita ja Turori/Vilita & Turori)
Clarissa Alanis Star Samantha (Valentine Z)
Jenna Logan (Tropicorp)
Maddison Riley-Jones (JYK-inen/TJUN-ia)
The "In Case I Fucked Up" section was already half-filled thanks to Tizilna and Big Blue, but the other 2 also make sense in my head. Jenna Logan always finds a way to produce something magical, so don't be surprised if she makes it in once again just to spite me. As for Maddy, this is based more on hope than anything else as I am hoping that seeing her teammates in last season's Championship 4 will spur her on to try and make her first Cup Series Chase. The inaugural EverLong Champion has been disrespected for far too long. I hope this year is finally her time.

Ones To Watch/Katsottavia
Maddie Alexander (Tropicorp)
Rustam Ilyich Yudin (Abanhfleft)
Shuzhen Zhu (Nimbus-Järjestelmän Entiset Kansalaiset/Former Citizens of the Nimbus System)
Ray Harding (Tuhoajainen/Wreckeria)
This new category is drivers who, while I don't expect them to make the Chase, I expect to make some sort of impact over the course of this season.
- Maddie Alexander was so close to making "First Four Out" but ultimately, my hope for Maddy outweighed my belief in Maddie. I wouldn't be surprised if she made it in to spite me.
- Rustam Ilyich Yudin is the new leader at UrGa after Wilma von Cärinthen's sudden departure and while those are big shoes to fill, I feel confident that Ceroat's finest can do a good job across the season.
- Shuzhen Zhu is controversial to some simply because she had links to the usually open-wheel wheel Nimbians, but now she's managed to bring their flag to this arena for the very first time. She did win a race last year and to be honest, I just want her to do well so that everyone can just shut up about Imagination and let her fucking drive!
- Ray Harding is here as he represents a new era at OMR, one where Taylor Henderson is long gone and they now run the Prestons like Good Team Blue. The apparent partnership between the two HASCAR rivals will certainly be a point for intrigue, but I hope that Harding can push OMR towards new highs...just like HM managed in their 2nd season.

Second Tier Questions/Toisen Tason Kysymykset
Will both HMT2 Cars make the T2 Chase? - Yes
Regular Season Placement? - Salo P7, Ilmari P13
Yeah, pretty simple this one. Any questions surrounding the expansion to 6 will go down after the regular season.

And that is that. If this is wrong, don't be too surprised. If anyone not on this list is offended or if something thinks they are too low, then you can prove it on the track and rub it in my face. This is just fun, and I don't want to feel like I'm underestimating anyone out there. We'll come back to this at some point later in the season. Hyvästi!

Fast Women and Sexy Cars -- NSSCRA is Back in Town!

It's that time of year again, time for a new season of NSSCRA. I know some of you don't care, but it's my blog and I'll blog about whatever I want. I think one reason I keep coming back to NSSCRA is that it's refreshing to see a sport where women compete against men head to head, and some of the female drivers are really good! There's no "Women's Division" or any of that nonsense. Just Stacie Houston and Tsering Chu putting their big fat tire tracks on the face of the Patriarchy.

But unfortunately, there are a few drivers that I have more mixed feelings about, and with a new season getting underway, I thought it would be a good time to talk about a couple of them.

First up, Thea Alvarez. I want to like Thea because we support a lot of the same causes, and I think her heart really is in the right place; but in the last year or so, she has become increasingly problematic. I mean, what the hell was that Cocoa-co ad campaign with Thea dressed up like a half-naked baby doll? Maybe that will fly in Kardashia or Harajuku, but it's not something I wanted to see and I don't think it sends a good message to young girls that are struggling with body image issues. It's not the first time anyone in NSSCRA has ever shown some skin. We've all seen those Mayhem ads with Rinzi the shirtless wonder, but this feels different to my mind, and it's not just because I think Rinzi is hot. (Rinzi is hot, but that's not the point.) Mayhem didn't infantilize Rinzi, and that's the difference. Those Mayhem ads showed Rinzi as a grown man pursuing his goals; the Cocoa-bo posters made Thea look like a helpless child or a doll.

I don't know how much creative control Thea had over that ad campaign. Sometimes women get pressured into doing this sort of thing, and it isn't easy to say no when you are relying on corporate sponsors to keep your career afloat. If that is what happened here, then I really do empathize with the difficult situation that Thea was put in. But the image that came out to the public is still uncomfortable to look at.

And then there's her relationship with Ilya Tsunopin. It's hard to know how healthy a particular relationship is when you can't see everything that goes on behind closed doors, but there are a lot of reasons to be concerned. It seems like Ilya is loudly shouting every thought that crosses his mind -- and I use the term "thought" very loosely here -- but Thea doesn't have much of a voice in the relationship. That's especially problematic when Ilya is openly lusting after other people without any consideration for Thea's feelings, and she doesn't have the courage to speak up for herself. We live in a society where women are conditioned to put men's needs ahead of their own, and I think Thea is a victim of that conditioning. But she's still setting a really bad example for other women.

And then there is Shuzhen Zhu... Zhu seems to be a lot more comfortable in her own skin, and I really wish I could root for her. She might not have quite the same raw talent as Thea, but she has put in the hard work to hone her skills, and sometimes that is just as good as talent. The problem is that she's in bed with the Nexus Wardship.

Don't get me wrong. Being in bed with the Nimbans is fine and dandy if that is your kink, but Zhu doesn't just have a thing for guys that look like they fell out of a video game. She has a thing for the Wardship, and I don't think I have to explain why that is a problem.

There are about a million ways that Imagination can be used and abused to gain an unfair advantage, but that's not even the biggest problem.

The real problem is that the Nexus Wardship is most likely committing human rights abuses against its own people, and Zhu just doesn't seem to care. She claims all the magic used by Xianing Racing is ethically sourced, and maybe she really thinks it is; but I have my doubts about how carefully she can monitor their supply chain when she is busy on the track and she is relying on other people to work behind the scenes sourcing and documenting so-called "Imagination." Even if Zhu and Xianing are not directly participating in any human rights abuses, they are still collaborating with a regime that does. Even if we assume that hereditary magic is relatively common among the Nimban population, the amount of magic used by the Wardship is still far more than what they could harvest through any ethical means. We all know this. We just try not to think about it too hard because it's uncomfortable, and none of us want to get off our couch and do something about it.

But is it really too much to ask for people not to actively collaborate with the Wardship? I feel like that is not too much to ask.

Don't get me wrong, though. NSSCRA still has some brilliant women in it and it is a lot of fun to watch. I am so happy to see Jenna Logan back for another season! She is one of the most underrated and underappreciated drivers in the whole series. Let's go, Jenna! You show those haters who's boss!

OOC Note: Many Sherpalanders have inaccurate assumptions about where Imagination comes from because they have conflated it with a type of magic that exists in the Empire. Hereditary magic in the Sherpa Empire is found in the blood of certain people. Using it to replicate the Wardship's Imagination-powered technology would involve harvesting massive quantities of human blood or setting up some sort of sweatshops where people work themselves to death creating talismans. So that's what Supriya Gu thinks is going on, and why she thinks the Wardship is terrible.

When the promising start to his full-time Multiversal Cup Series career gave way to a steady decline, Sage Caldwell decided to set his pride aside and move down to the Everlong Contenders' Series. He was tired of never winning and always falling short, whether by an inch, or a lap, or fifty laps, and thought maybe a change of scenery would help him regain some of the confidence he lost along the way. After all, who would reach out to him but Skip Stiller, the man he replaced at Gale Force Racing upon his (Skip's) retirement.

Sage was confident that the man he would be racing for would give him all the help he needed to succeed in the coming NSSCRA season, given they've long had a mentor/protege relationship going on between them. He moved into an apartment close to Skip's racing school during the offseason, getting up early and going home late as he spent all day and night turning laps at the test tracks and the simulators. Sometimes he even participated in races in short tracks and dirt tracks around St. Kanye, and sometimes Skip even competed alongside him.

Sage was practically counting the seconds until the new NSSCRA season starts; he really wanted to get out on the track and show the world the new improved him that was forged in days and nights of hard work and effort. When he stepped out of the plane in Newmanistan, the morning of the day of practice for the Prospect Showcase (Everlong's answer to Multiversal's Exhibition at the Proving Grounds), he couldn't help but shout "YEAH! LET'S GET IT ON!". Some fans are there at the runway expecting the arrival of Skip Stiller Speedworks' jet, mostly Yeezie, but there are also a lot of Hapiloppians. They were probably his biggest foreign fanbase after his impressive soup run (surviving several heat races) and runner-up performance in the Berman Brothers Classic dirt race in Hap City a couple of years back.

At the start of the previous season, Sage, while excited, was a little worried, given that he was driving an unchartered car for one of the smaller and lesser-known teams in the series. This time around, he was guaranteed to start the upcoming race, and for one of the Everlong series' most successful stables at that. Never mind that it's in a lower tier - he was really glad. Glad for the opportunity, and glad to be back. But did that good mood translate into a good performance? Well, Sage started twelfth in a field of 37, but improved on that and eventually finished the Prospect Showcase in third place. "Sure, I fell short, but every other time that I did in the past, don't matter to me now, you know? This is a new chapter, a new beginning," he said to the reporters during the post-race press conference.

Wandering the different garages at the end of the race, Sage struck up conversations with his old Multiversal pals, who thankfully didn't look down on him even though he's in a lower tier. Ricky Lee, his former teammate at Direwolf Auto Team, congratulated him on his recent podium ("I was rooting for you during those crazy last few laps, man!") before introducing him to Todd Underhill, who took over Sage's old ride. Todd was a little bit nervous about meeting Sage, only for the latter to reassure the former that they're cool with each other.

Then it was over to the Gale Force garage. At first he was just asking Jeremiah Brooke how his son Jericho was doing, but soon the two were talking at length about how they spent their offseason, their thoughts and expectations about the races ahead, and even the second edition of the Stock Car Studs online poll that men's hygiene company Mayhem is conducting.

"Look JB, I ain't even mad that they decided to go with Multiversal dudes only,"

"Really huh."

"Yeah, if they threw in guys like me that would be unfair to guys like you."

"Sure bro, whatever you say."

"I'll just be content watching the whole thing unfold, you know? May the best man win and all that. Who's your first opponent again?"

"Koshiro Kawai. Eh, it can go either way, I'll let the fans decide for themselves."

"Bet."

The Team Blue Center, Tundra Falls Proving Grounds, Tundra Falls, Newmanistan
Three days after the Exhibition

It was a very slow day in Tundra Falls for the Team Blue crew. With still some days to go until on-track activity kicked up again at the Proving Grounds, members of the team decided to go out and do their own thing. For instance, Chris Holmes and his family were checking out some of the sights and sounds around Tundra Falls, in an effort to find something the whole family could enjoy. Drake Stevenson, meanwhile, was laying prone on a couch in the Team Blue Center, playing on a laptop as the television droned on.

A few days had passed since Drake had lost his proverbial shit over the radio because of issues with the five Preston cars – the three Team Blue cars and the two Marlin Racing cars that qualified – getting together to draft their way to the front. Drake was not pleased with the fact that the five cars, seemingly, couldn’t work together, and in the process, made some very, very crude remarks over the radio. It was hardly the first time that Drake had made comments like that over the radio, and it was starting to wear on Team Blue, its staffers and its sponsors.

In fact, it got so bad, that Greg Meadows, the director of sponsorship programs for Good Motor Oil, decided to pay the Team Blue Center a visit. Usually, on race weekends, Meadows was at in a corporate suite, entertaining guests, and even then, he was rarely at a track that wasn’t in Atlantian Oceania. So for him to make a visit to Newmanistan, in Esportiva, meant something was up – either Good was going to be making an announcement concerning something with the NSSCRA (which was plenty possible) or a talk needed to be had (also plenty possible).

The fact that Meadows was in Esportiva, even as he was responsible for all of Good’s sponsorship programs – from Team Blue’s NSSCRA, HASCAR and AOCAR teams, as well as sponsorship of Preston Autos’ WGPC team and local short track and road racers across Hapilopper, meant something was up. And that fact wasn’t lost on Drake in the slightest, as he sat up on the couch and put his laptop down.

“Hello, Drake,” Meadows said, a serious tone in his voice that was different from his normal bombastic behavior. “I think we need to have a talk.”

“Uh, yeah, sure, about what?” Drake asked.

“About what people usually associate with you,” Meadows responded. “I think you know what I’m talking about.”

The two walked over to a back conference room where nobody could listen or eavesdrop on what was going on. This was necessary as you never knew who was listening, and neither Drake nor Meadows wanted anyone else to hear what was going on, or why Meadows had gone to the trouble of flying out to Newmanistan.

“The best thing I’m going to tell you, Drake, is that we’ve got a problem with what’s going on with a certain cable show,” Meadows said. “One that has all the radio frequencies. Can you tell me why in the world you are that profane over the radio? And can you tell me why you have such a hard time controlling your emotions when you’re driving? And can you tell me why you get that angry over the radio?”

Drake rolled his eyes and shook his head. This was a conversation he had endured with people in the past, and a conversation he did not enjoy having at all. But now the sponsor rep from his sponsor, Good Motor Oil, was pressing him on it.

“Because it’s my radio, I communicate with my crew, and I don’t mean for the rest of the world to hear it,” Drake groused. “Ain’t nobody’s damn business.”

“Well, you’re threatening physical violence against someone over the radio,” Meadows said. “That’s crossing the line. You’re swearing every other word on the radio. You’re supposed to be a better example to people that are watching you. And we feel like this needs to change.”

Drake shook his head, frustrated that this was going on.

“So, you came over to Newmanistan to tell me to stop swearing on my radio,” Drake grumbled. “You came over and bitched that I’m swearing over the radio and those schmucks at H-Sports show it every fucking week. How about you tell those dumbasses that they need to stop airing my radio.”

“I can’t do that,” Meadows responded.

“Why not?” Drake asked.

“Because we sponsor that show and you’re one of the show’s biggest ratings draws,” Meadows explained. “But it looks bad for us if our driver can’t get through a thought without swearing up a blue streak. And it looks bad for us when you’re threatening physical violence against someone who has done nothing to warrant it. That behavior has to stop and it has to stop as soon as possible.”

“What, so being on MemeWatch isn’t a problem to you?” Drake snapped.

“I don’t like it either, but look at it differently, please,” Meadows continued. “The MemeWatch guy is a twerp that likes to get a rise out of everyone. Please try to ignore him, for your good, for our good, and for the good of the whole team. There was no valid reason for you to threaten to stick a boot up his rear end.”

“Well, one day he’s going to catch some hands,” Drake interjected.

“And if it’s from you, we’re going to reconsider this partnership, unless he’s done something to provoke it,” Meadows interrupted. “You need to consider trying something that will calm you down. There’s no reason to get yourself this angry over the radio. And we don’t want to have to do anything, because we really like having you drive our cars. We really like having you as our spokesman. And we don’t want to change that. But you need to do something about that swearing.”

Drake shook his head, visibly angry at what he had been told. If anything, he was going to have to talk to someone from H-Sports to tell them to quit emphasizing the swearing, because now he was afraid it was starting to impact his relationship with his sponsor.

“Can I say something before you go, sir?” Drake asked.

“Go ahead,” Meadows responded.

“I don’t understand why this is an issue,” Drake said. “Nor do I understand why I’m getting in trouble. You’re a racing guy. You know we get pissed off over the radio. This isn’t my problem. The H-Sports guys need to be told to dial it back. And I’m not changing my mind over this.”

Tundra Falls Proving Grounds, Newmanistan
Three months ago

“Hello, Wilma, my name is John Watt from the Motoring Along podcast. Would you mind if I asked you a few questions about tonight?”

“Yes, sure, go ahead,” Wilma von Cärinthen replied. It was just after the end of the Proving Grounds 500, the championship race of the NationStates Stock Car Racing Association (NSSCRA). A new champion had been crowned in the form of TJUN-ia and Jaguar Racing’s Michael Stefan, and most of the media attention was currently focused on the new Kaiser of NSSCRA while the rest of the field made their way back to the pit lane. A number of reporters who were waiting for a more opportune moment to talk to Stefan were in pit lane as well and interviewing the other drivers in the meantime, and Wilma and John Watt were just one driver-journalist pairing (although John himself would be the first one to say that he wasn’t a journalist at all, just a “racing enthusiast with a microphone and a FaceTube channel”). Truth be told though, Wilma had not been feeling well for the whole day. She didn’t know what it was that was causing her to feel light-headed and nauseous. It couldn’t have been the food; she had eaten the same things that she always had before a race, and Wilma had never gotten ill because of food before. And it wasn’t some sort of illness as well; her nose was clear, and her throat didn’t feel itchy at all. Nevertheless, Wilma just couldn’t muster up the energy to put in 100 percent during the Proving Grounds 500, a grave mistake to make especially considering the nature of this track, but that was just the way that things were for Wilma at the moment. Despite all of that though, Wilma couldn’t really say no to the other guy because she wasn’t that ill yet.

“It’s another poor showing for you at the Tundra Falls Proving Grounds once again, Wilma,” John Watt asked once he had set up his smartphone’s camera and microphone recorder. “Well, it’s poor by the standards that you’ve set throughout the season, even though it’s actually an improvement over the last time that you were here way back at the start of the season. Is there something about Tundra Falls where it looks like things just wouldn’t fall in place for you and your team?”

“Honestly, I don’t know about that,” Wilma replied as she scratched the top of her head, a usual aftereffect of being stuck in a helmet for between three and four hours every week. “I don’t even remember the last time the team and I have had a good race here in Tundra Falls ever since UrGa first joined. There must be something in the air that just doesn’t help us perform to our usual high standards. But tonight’s a different story for me right now. I don’t know how to say it, but I haven’t felt good since this morning, but it got worse once we started our engines. I’m light-headed and nauseous, and I don’t know whether I should faint or throw up. I’m not 100 percent tonight, and I know it.”

“I’m sorry to hear that,” John said. “I’ll be out of your hair in a few minutes.”

“No, no, it’s fine,” Wilma shook her head. “I actually don’t mind. In fact, doing this interview is taking my mind off of what I’m feeling right now so please, feel free to continue asking me anything.”

“Okay,” John nodded hesitantly. “So, uh, earlier this weekend, you announced that you had just signed a contract extension with UrGa tying you down with the team for at least another season. This was despite the fact that you were knocked out of the Chase in the previous race in the Fhulghamous. Did that race have any effect in your contract extension with UrGa or was it already in the cards even before then?”

“I was always going to sign an extension with UrGa to drive for them for another season no matter what, and they were always going to offer me that extension as well,” Wilma replied. “Honestly, I just can’t see myself driving for any other team in NSSCRA at the moment. UrGa’s been with me ever since the start of my career more than a decade ago, and they’ve stuck with me through thick and thin. Everyone else is already seeing what I am capable of with this team, and neither I nor UrGa see any point in breaking that up before we’ve even hit our peak. I made it as far as the Round of 8 this season. Who knows where I could end up next season with a little more luck by my side? I mean, I like betting on myself, and UrGa is a team that does pretty much the same, which is why we’ve always been a good fit with each other since way back when. This was always a partnership that made sense to both parties, which is why we’re very intent to keep it going to Season 14 and even beyond that.”

“Thank you so much for your time, Wilma,” John nodded. “I probably shouldn’t be bothering you any longer so that’s all from me right now. Catch up again next season?”

“Sure thing,” Wilma nodded, and then they went their separate ways. However, Wilma had barely taken a few steps before she felt a fresh wave of nausea wash over her, and she felt bile rising up her throat. She swallowed and coughed as she ran back towards the Urotovsky-Gatutin garages, and she had barely made it into the ladies’ room before the bile forced its way back up and Wilma was soon powerless to stop it from coming out. Wilma vomited into one of the sinks in the restroom, and after the initial burst, she continued to dry heave for another minute or two before she could finally trust herself to look up without feeling light-headed or throwing up once again. Wilma took a couple of deep breaths as she tried to figure out an explanation for her current condition. It most definitely wasn’t food poisoning; she had eaten the same things she had always eaten before a race and had even prepared and cooked her own food herself. But as she was using the water from the faucet to wash away the bitter taste of bile in her mouth, Wilma finally realized what exactly it was that could have caused her to feel like this in the first place.

“You’re… what?!”

“Pregnant,” Wilma repeated with a resigned nod of her head. “And it’s not just me overthinking it. I already took a test before I came here to talk to you. Also, it’s been two weeks since I was supposed to have my period, and I’ve never missed one before!”

“Okay, okay, cool it right now before you end up giving me too much info, yeah?” Guillermo Archer said as he held up his right hand and put his left hand to his ear to “prevent” himself from hearing anything more from Wilma. “Okay, so let me get this straight because I still have a lot of trouble accepting all of this right now. You’re pregnant? Wilhelmina von Cärinthen, the Ice Fucking Countess herself, got knocked up?”

“I know,” Wilma nodded. “I can’t believe it myself.”

“Okay, now I got two questions for you,” Gil said. “First of all, who’s the father? And second, why did you come to me with this? Have you already told the boss lady or not?” The “boss lady” was Olga Semyonovna Gatutina, team owner of UrGa’s NSSCRA outfit. “Because you remember that I told her when the docs found the tumor in my head during my check-up, right?” Gil continued.

“Damn it, you’re right,” Wilma muttered. “But it’s too late. I’m already talking to you now, aren’t I? Anyway, she’s going to be the second person to know.”

“So I’m the first one to know about what’s happened to you?” Gil asked, his surprise at the whole situation rising with every passing second. “You haven’t even told the father yet? Do you even know who the dad of your kid is? Jesus Christ, listen to me talk right now. I sound just like my own father when I told him about Jessica and William!”

“Of course I know who the father is, Rodolfo!” Wilma shot back, referring to Gil by his middle name, a tic that she had whenever she was either pissed off or joking around with the elder Archer. And she was not in a joking mood at the moment. “I see him literally half of the year every year, and we’re almost always on the same patch or asphalt or pavement or whatever!”

“Jeez! The father is a NSSCRA driver too?” Gil said. And then the realization struck him, and he began shaking his own head slowly in disbelief. “Don’t tell me, Wilma. It’s not who I think it is, is it?”

“Yes, it is,” Wilma nodded again. “It’s Koshiro.”

“What in the actual fuck!” Gil cried out, standing up due to the sheer magnitude of the revelation currently being given to him. “Bruh! How long has this been going on?! Jesus Christ, I knew that I was teasing you about the two of you getting together, but never in a million years would I have thought that you would actually go ahead and do it! But really though! How long have the two of you been seeing each other?”

“Just over a year,” Wilma replied sheepishly. “It was during the Karaoke Night thing that those places in downtown Oxy had the season before this one. You know that Koshiro and I had this will-they-or-won’t-they thing going on between the two of us, but on that night, something just finally clicked between us, and I finally said ‘fuck it’ and decided to go for it.”

“One whole year? Really?” Gil repeated, confusion clearly written on his face.

“Really, Gil? I said all of that and the only thing that you got out of it is that I’ve been seeing Koshiro for an entire year?”

“Yeah, girl, I’m sorry, but I really just can’t get over that particular fact,” Gil said with another shake of his head. “And none of the tabloids managed to catch the two of you for that whole year?! I don’t believe that. You know how nosy those rats can get. But none of them got so much as a single peep that you and Koshiro have been a thing for a whole freaking year? Really?”

“What’s so hard to believe about that, huh?” Wilma asked angrily. “Koshiro and I were very careful!”

“Yeah, well, looks like you two weren’t careful enough!” Gil said, gesturing at Wilma’s belly.

“That’s not the point!” Wilma said back. “We never let ourselves be seen somewhere at the same time unless it was the track in which case it made sense for the both of us to be there, and we picked times and places where we both knew we weren’t going to be busy, and that was when we saw each other. But apart from that, we didn’t do anything together.”

Gil looked like he was about to say something once again, but instead he decided to close both his mouth and his eyes and take a deep breath. Finally, he opened his eyes once again in order to look at Wilma. “What are your plans?” he asked her. “What do you plan to do with the kid? Are you gonna tell Koshiro about it? Him, her, whatever? What do you wanna do?”

“Of course I’m gonna tell Koshiro!” Wilma said back. “He’s half of the reason why the kid is here in the first place! And, while I really can’t believe I’m about to say this but I’m going to keep the kid. I’m going to keep the kid, and I’m going to raise him or her or them or whatever they wanna be.”

“You’re not the only one surprised about that,” Gil muttered. “I really thought you were going to, you know…”

“What? Abort the kid?” Wilma retorted. “Man, I know that you think that I’m some sort of walking stereotype of the white female college liberal social justice warrior, but I’ve got some hidden depths to me too, you know. Yes, I know some women who wouldn’t hesitate at the chance to get rid of this… thing and plaster it all over twii.tur and their other socials. And I'm not gonna lie, if I had been younger, I'd have probably done the same thing.”

“Oh my gosh, you're really serious about that, aren't you?” Gil shook his head yet again. “Just when I thought I had you figured out, you still have enough inside of you to keep surprising me.”

“But things are different now,” Wilma insisted. “Again, I can't believe I'm saying this, but all of these years that I've spent with only myself for company inside the big mansion that I got from my parents, and the massive fortune and inheritance that they left behind for me, have made me realize that it all doesn't mean anything if I'm not sharing them with anyone else. Sure, I donate to my causes, but it just doesn't feel the same. And recently, I've been thinking about the future of the von Cärinthen family, and how I'm going to be the last of the von Cärinthens unless something happens and I produce an heir. I mean, just listen to me speak! I'm thinking of myself as a baby factory now! This past year has really been a crazy one for me both on and off the track, and now it's all come to this. What a way for me to end this year, right?”

“Tell me about it,” Gil muttered. “Oh my god, I just remembered something. What the hell is gonna happen to your contract now? You just announced a damn extension just a few days ago! And now you're gonna have to sit out at least the first half of next season! I sure hope that you've got a clause in your contract for this.”

“I'm pretty sure that this falls under force majeure,” Wilma replied. “Or maybe I’m just talking straight out of my ass at this moment. But I'm definitely gonna have my agent go over the fine print just to make absolutely sure… oh, shit. I didn't even think about maternity leave! It's because I never thought I would ever need it! Shit! Now I gotta call my agent right fucking now and tell her all about that too!”

“Yeah, you should,” Gil nodded. “You don't wanna be left hanging without a branch to grab on right now. If that old fuck Yurievsky sees anything in your contract that isn't up to snuff, he could literally shove you out the door like he did to Old Man Wang!” Though it wasn't common knowledge outside of Urotovsky-Gatutin's own circle, almost everyone involved in the company's NSSCRA team had heard the story of how Yakov Yurievsky, the team's quote-unquote “financial advisor,” had gone over the boss lady Olga Gatutina's head to hand Dinggu Wang his termination of employment notice and to wish the elderly Chinese Pharaki driver success in his future endeavors. Dinggu Wang was a personal project of Gatutina's, and it was no secret that Yurievsky thought that Gatutina was crazy for trying to go for the “oldest NSSCRA champion” record. So when the time and opportunity came, Yurievsky wasted no time telling Wang that the latter's contract would not be extended at all. It was a move that had soured relations between Gatutina and Yurievsky, and it also set a negative mood throughout the rest of the NSSCRA division for the rest of that particular season and gave the (ultimately unjustified) impression that nobody’s job was safe if one man didn’t think you were performing up to expectations, or if he simply didn’t like you at all. This had resulted in a drastic cut to Yurievsky's presence with the NSSCRA team afterwards, along with increased appearances from Olga's older brother Vasily Semyonovich Gatutin, who currently had all the time in the world while WGPC tried to sort itself out. That wasn't to say that Yurievsky was gone from the NSSCRA team altogether; he was still out there during race weekends and had even tried to finagle a deal with Kerthenia's Ronald Victor for Yurievsky's oligarch friends, but nothing had come of that anyway. But Yakov Yurievsky was no longer involved in the NSSCRA team's day-to-day operations, or at least that was how it was supposed to work. There were those in the team who believed that Yurievsky still held considerable influence with the board of directors of the Urotovsky-Gatutin General Machine Building Enterprise, influence which he could still use to get the board to persuade the boss lady Olga to release so-and-so. And given the current situation, so-and-so could very well end up being Wilma von Cärinthen.

“Jeez, I don’t NSSCRA is gonna be ready for this when you break it to everyone else,” Gil muttered.

“NSSCRA? Really? I don’t think I’m ready for this!” Wilma retorted. “Jesus Christ, man. That’s nine whole months that I’m not gonna be behind the wheel of a car!”

“Technically, you’re only gonna miss five months or something like because the season usually starts in February,” Gil said. “Of course, that doesn’t factor in the postpartum rehab and whatnot, but hey, I don’t think you wanna rush your way back into this, right?” he immediately said when Wilma shot him an angry look. “Like, remember when Stacie Houston got sidelined because of Jericho? How long did she take before she was back behind the wheel? No, really, that’s an honest to goodness question. I don’t remember how long Stacie was out.”

“Yeah, I don’t think I remember that too,” Wilma shook her head. “I think I was dealing with some of my own shit back then as well.”

“Anyway, if you and Koshiro need any help in this parenting stuff, just know that Brigitte and I are always here to help,” Gil offered. “Bree’s probably gonna freak when she finds out. She’s gonna be all over your kid, especially now that Ryan is starting to think he doesn’t need his mommy to feed him his dinner anymore.” Ryan was Gil’s youngest child who had just turned four during the weekend of the Proving Grounds 500. “I’m just gonna warn you right here and right now, if Bree gets her hand on your kid, make sure to ask for him or her back or else Bree’s gonna take them back home to Effelenendro.”

“Thanks,” Wilma nodded. “Man, I really can’t believe this is actually happening. Wilma von Cärinthen is now about to become a mother! Now that is literally a sentence I never thought I or anyone else would ever say in my whole life.”

“Same here,” Gil added. “But if there’s anything I’ve learned in the time that I’ve been doing this with Paige and Ryan, it’s never going to get any easier. But it’s all part of the ride, and when you finally see your kid for the first time, you might finally understand why that moment of joy is going to more than make up for all the sleepless nights that are going to come afterwards.”

So this is awkward.

A few days ago I had just signed an extension with UrGa to drive 4 the 98 team next season. However, something has happened and I wish to address that b4 speculation runs wild. I have 2 confessions to make. (1/?)

1. I won’t be able to take part next NSSCRA season because I’ve just learned I’m pregnant. I like to think I took every available precaution to prevent this but you can’t plan for everything. I’m happy for myself but sad for my career. This was totally unexpected. (2/?)

2. For the past year, @KawaiKoshiro_58 and I have been in an exclusive relationship. This and Confession #1 are directly connected. He was just as surprised as I was when I told him but now we are committed to each other more than ever because of this. (3/?)

I would like to apologize to all my fans for not being able to compete at the highest level next season, but as I’ve already said in my previous tweet before this thread, I will be back stronger than ever. Not next season, but the season after that. The 98 will be back. (4/4)

This blog was written by Derrick Carlisle, Jaguar Racing's Social Media Manager
Home of the Season X ECS and Season 13 MCS Champions

Oh, hello there! Welcome to the 14th season of NSSCRA action with me, Derrick Carlisle. My team, Jaguar Racing, managed to win the Multiversal Cup Series for the very first time in our history, a title that would join our Season X EverLong title in our trophy cabinet. Now, we must try to defend the crown against 59 other drivers who will be hungry to take it from us...while we also aim to compete in the 2nd tier, too. The entire JR operation is wearing gold armbands all season long and will continue to do so until our crown is won from us. The question is, how would we start this season as the ones with targets on our backs?

First of all, let's start with Saturday and Qualifying for the traditional Exhibition at The Proving Grounds Presented by Rocket Automotive would be a good way for the entire field to get used (or reused) to the rigours of a NSSCRA weekend and so many changes and new teams on the block, it was also a good chance to see where everyone stood before the Exhibition itself signalled the start of a new season. In the effective test weekend, pole would go to Yraaga Gilli'i over Stacie Houston and Koshiro Kawai - who's now expecting a child with Wilma von Cärinthen, which explains her sudden absence from the grid. We at JR would like to congratulate both of them on the new stage of their lives and we look forward to seeing Wilma back in the series next season. As for us, Alfonso Mercado (@AM64) would end up being our best qualifier in P4, Kaiser Michael Stefan (@Stefan07) started his title defence with a P11 and Maddison Riley-Jones (@MaddyRJ03) knew she would have some work to do from P24. At least she will have some familiar faces nearby as she will start ahead of Lam Chow-Cheung, a driver whom I feel could have a good year in their 3rd season, and alongside the other HM in Aurélia Karvonen, who ended up 4th of the 5 non-charters who made it into the race. The others would be Daryl Calhoun (P14), Ashley Matthews (P16), Anna Star Joy Thanda Pwint Thinzar Nwe (P19) and Tyson Hoyt (P29) while the Open Charters would actually ensure that 3 different Champions would start this race - MCS Champ Kaiser Stefan in P11, ECS Champion Pyotr Lavrentiev in P39 and AOCAR Champion Juracai Klianiota in P26.

Now then, time for a quick detour into the EverLong Contender's Series and the equally traditional Prospect Showcase at The Proving Grounds Presented by Rocket Automotive was expected to be a great preview into the season ahead in the 2nd Tier...and it certainly did show some stuff for everyone to try and digest over the week. Ilmari Pëkannen would come from nowhere to start from pole over Colin Meredith and Turakki Mayelli as the HMT2 program prepares to duke it out for the right to drive the 3rd T1 Car next season. Axel Chase (@AxChase) would get off with a bang by qualifying on debut in P4 while Alice Jepkosgei (@AJ96) would start from P6, Kaarina Salo from P14 and Gongming Gao (@GG70) would start from P20. The T2 race has traditionally been seen as a preview for the T1 race the next day and for this weekend, that would certainly be the case as 4 drivers would retire from a race which screamed "Prospect Showcase". Adriana Ela Kowalski Lillian, driving for the Garden at 6th Mile Road, would end up taking this win over Meredith and Sage Caldwell (who I hope to God can finally win a fucking race) while AJ ended up in 9th, Salo in 10th, Ilmari in 11th, Axel Chase (I'll come up with a nickname at some point) in P15 and Gao in P16. A not bad day at all for JRT2 and HMT2, which should improve the confidence heading into next week.

Onto Sunday and the Exhibition itself and just like the race the day before, we would end up with 4 retirements - albeit all of them NSSCRA debutants. The race itself would certainly see some cracking racing despite the fact it was "only" the Exhibition but in the end, it would be Koshiro-san who would take the win over the GFR duo of Thea Alvarez and Houston, the first of what the father-to-be will hope to be many successes this season. LCC would certainly be happy with P5, maybe a sign that the enby can continue the good work from last season, Mercado wasn't exactly too annoyed with P16 while everyone else was further down with Karvonen in P26, the Kaiser in P27 and Maddy in P28. It wasn't the best of starts from a JR perspective, but at least this weekend is meant as a test fire and has no points available.

Before we go...I'm gonna have to start MemeWatch IV before the season has officially started. Yeah, that's pretty crazy and it's is so crazy in fact that I have to open the list with TWO entries. My reasoning is below.
- We RARELY get an entry on this list from the EverLong, mainly because most of the eyes and the drama originate in T1 and not T2...but I had to include this here. Now, I don't know in what context this guy wants VVSC to do that...but neither of them is good, so you're on here...horny bastard.
- Do I put Drake Stevenson onto MemeWatch because he said he would put his boot up my ass if I did? No. I'm not dumb. Plus, this sort of threat happens every season and I'm becoming a bit desensitized to it all so...no. In fact...I'm going to actually take his side and put this "Preston Pact" onto the list. Because it makes no fucking sense. I've done extensive research on the Team Blue/OMR rivalry in HASCAR and that shit is just brutal, two great teams beating the living crap out of each other like they are the Ying and Yang of the entire series. How do you expect these two historical rivals to simply drop their weapons and work together just because they all use Prestons now? Stevenson vs Hoyt was a massive rivalry down there and now, they both have to dance together in the same group? Do you really think that these two teams are just going to forget their entire HASCAR histories to make flower rings together and sing songs around the campfire? It's just fucking insane and you just know that someone is going to do something and this entire house of cards is going to crumble into the dust. It's inevitable...not because of the drivers or team managers, but because Preston has their heads so far up their asses that they care only about the marketing of challenging for the title and not about the histories they are sacrificing.

Anyway, this was only the test fire. The real thing starts next week. From now on, the great game shall take over us all...and we absolutely want something just like this. NSSCRA is back...and that is final.
