NSSCRA 14- Signups (CLOSED!)

NSSCRA 14- SIGNUPS

This is the signup thread for NSSCRA’s 14th season. Please be sure to read the information in this post, because signing up for NSSCRA is not as simple as signing up for many other competitions on the forum.

For information on how NSSCRA is scorinated, click here.

I) BASIC SIGNUP RULES

- If you remember the NSSCRA 13 signup process, nothing is changing. Go ahead and do as you did before, or go over the rules again to refresh your memory.

– Everyone is welcome to signup. If so, you will signup THREE drivers (If you wish to have only one or two, that is fine), in order of your preference (aka put your favorite or preferred driver on top). Include your preferred car number for them. (00-99 is acceptable). However, please be advised that car numbers ARE NOT “first come, first serve”. Returning nations will have rights to the car numbers that they used previously. If any car number is a repeat, I will determine its priority and request the user change the number on their own or have me assign one. Now, for the returning users, I humbly request for you to not jump on a first time nation if they request a number you have rights too. I know you have rights to them, and we can address any duplicate car numbers in due time.

Additionally, all MASTER nations will have at least one, and possibly two, races in their country. This race may be in EITHER the main series OR the second tier series. All PUPPET nations MAY have one, and potentially two races, depending on the number signups. Master nations who signed up a puppet last season and did not RP, or minimally RP'd may not see their puppet with a race. But we'll see depending on the number of signups. Race schedule will be between 24 and 26 races.

If you are returning user from NSSCRA 13 (or previous), you may present up to two tracks for NSSCRA to have a race on. Both tracks getting a race is likely, but not a guarantee.

If you are a first time user, you may present one track for NSSCRA to have a race on. More information will be provided about what to include later in this post.

II) Charter Usage (relates to guaranteed entries into a race and those subject to qualifying in)
Any race team that finished in the top 20 of either owner points or driver points will receive a guaranteed charter. This number may be expanded to 25 or 30 but right now I simply want to play it safe, and say top 20. All MASTER nations that signup will have at least one guaranteed charter for the race. Any PUPPET nation will get a guaranteed charter based on how that puppet was roleplayed in prior editions of NSSCRA, or if a first time puppet, how the master nation historically roleplays their puppets in other competitions. Therefore, if a master nation did not RP their puppet last season, or only very minimally RP'd their puppet last season, they may not necessarily get a guaranteed charter for their puppet this time. Like before, this will depend on the number of signups.

All signed up drivers that the nation has chosen to compete in the main series, that do have not a charter, will need to qualify in. The number of spots available to qualify into depend on the number of the signups and guaranteed charters assigned.

III) Puppet Policy
Puppets are allowed, but in order for it to be considered, having participated and actively roleplayed in a prior season of NSSCRA from NSSCRA 6 and forward is required. Puppets that have not been roleplayed by race eight will lose all guaranteed charters. Other checkpoints will be announced during the season. Only sign up a puppet if you are intending on using it. Do not just enter a puppet because you can.

IV) The “open” charter
The “open charter” will return. This will be for a nation to potentially enter a fourth driver, or an additional driver. Interest in the open charter for an upcoming race should be provided in the RP immediately preceding the race desired, or by privately telegramming me. In the event I need to choose, first preference is to allow the open charter to a driver racing at their home track. After that, it comes down to number of times the nation has used the open charter, and the amount of RP they have provided. We will strive to have two open charters, but depending on the signup numbers, it could only be one.

– If you are going to declare this in a RP, please bold it in your RP, so it is understood that your intention is clear.
– Nations who signup and who can see themselves as likely to use the open charter (and know who that driver will be) should list their open charter driver in their signup as well. If the fourth driver will be TBD, that is fine, it can be figured out during the year.
-- Whether or not we have two open charters is TBD and will depend on the number of signups.

Anyone can request the open charter. ANYONE! I want to re-emphasize that requests for the open charter should only be done in the RP of the race that immediately precedes it. Please do not request it 2-3 races in advance. You can hint at it and let me know the intention of the request then, but still it is not considered an official request until the RP of the race prior! Please remember this!

V) Important Disclaimer
All guaranteed charter information is subject to change in the event of a higher then anticipated number of signups occurs that would result in an unrealistic field size. 46 has become that typical main series field size.

VI) Schedule
More often then not, there will be two races per week, and they will PROBABLY be on Wednesday and Sunday. With the inclusion of the second tier series, that will be scorinated in the day prior to the main race, so likely on Tuesday and Saturday. Qualifying for the main series will be posted with the second tier results. There will not be a separate day set aside for qualifying for the second tier series. That will be posted on the same day as the second tier results.

The schedule is adjustable throughout the year, but I will announce any deviations from the initial schedule posting well in advance. When the World Cup and the World Baseball Classic are in session, I will give more off day periods in NSSCRA. Those seem to be the two most commonly RPed sports of those who are most active in NSSCRA.

VII) Structure
NSSCRA uses the chase and elimination round system that NASCAR does. We, however, do not implement stage racing and stage points.

VIII) Second Tier Series (EverLong Series)
The EverLong Series is like the Xfinity series in NASCAR, or WGP2 here. However, full time drivers in the main series may not race in the EverLong Series. Nations that do not get guaranteed charters in the main series can "drop" those drivers into the second tier series. Or, a nation can declare, at signup, that a driver will be assigned to the second tier series. In the EverLong Series, all drivers start at zero in terms of rating, so everyone is on even footing in this series, to begin with.

The second tier series will eventually fill up to 44 cars that race.

Are you still with me? I hope so!
That was a long preface. This is what an example signup should look like:

#24- Gordon Jefferson
#48- Jimmie Legend
#88- Dale Bowman, Jr.

(You can feel free to add biographical or sponsor information to the drivers, but that is not a requirement for the signup).

Track: My National Speedway
City: Somewhere, My Nation
Length: 1.5 miles
Record: 32.011 seconds (lap record, very important information).
Number of Laps:
Layout: Standard cookie cutter oval.
DNF Tendency* (1 to 10):
*- Essentially, does this track have a lot of wrecks? 10 would be an extreme amount of carnage, 1 would be virtually none. 5 is average. Based on this number, the DNF cutoff will be set. New nations may only use a max modifier of 7 in their signup.

Not sure of a realistic lap record time? use this tool

You know the rules and so do I! There will be a little bit of reshuffling, along with both old and new faces!

Main series - The Valentians
#7 - Clarissa Alanis Star Samantha
#15 - Anastasia Freya Yadana Aye
#31 - Gwen Tracer Allison Oxton

Everlong - Valkyrie's Lovelies
#10 - Valkyrie Valentijn Samantha Constantine
#77 - Marcus Alan Ariel Reynolds
#32 - Michelle Kass Evelyn Vítková Pavlína

Pre-confirming Garden at 6th Mile Road as my puppet.

Track sign-up for BOTH Multiversal and Everlong.

Track: The Tyrrhenian Heavens (name of the race to be "Tyrrhenian Heavens 500" and "Tyrrhenian Heavens 300")
Location: Tyrrhenian Floating Stadium (39°52'21.0" N; 6°09'14.6"E), Valentine Z
Length: 5.056 mi / 8.136 km
Record: 117.429 seconds, by Zastępca Strażnika Adriana Krystal Desiree “Cudowny Manipulacja Światłem” Venus Kowalski Faith Stanisława Engelse I. Cherise Krystyna Zaborowska Sztormowska Pamela Alina Re. T. Lillian. Average 155.00 MPH.
Number of Laps: 100 and 60.
Layout: Road Course-Speedway Hybrid. Scorination-wise, please do take it as a Road Course.
DNF Tendency* (1 to 10): 2.

Only termed the road course due to a few of its curves, the Tyrrhenian Heavens is one of the newest established stadium and tracks after the Interdimensional War that ended in 2092. After the war that spanned 4 years, the Valentians took another year to rebuild, with Gwen Tracer Allison Oxton conveniently doing some warped up time dilation system. This track is one of the many new additions to the world of Valentine Z after the rebuilding and reterraforming efforts, located on a 15 km x 15 km floating city/stadium that is on the sea when not used. When the event is taking place, and everyone is confirmed to be on board, the landmass will float upwards to the sky at a rate of 10 meters per second for 100 seconds. At 1000 meters above the sea, the spectators and drivers alike can get a great view of the world below through their lounges.

The Valentians give the utmost reassurance that track and the floating island is robust thanks to a combination of magic and technology holding it together, as well as the best security and failsafes there is. The drivers will also not have to worry about crashing through a wall and plummeting.

Right on!
(Wreckeria has an entry coming too)

MULTIVERSAL ENTRIES:
GOOD TEAM BLUE:
#81 - Drake Stevenson
#73 - Rinzi Aogar Zakhilwal
#8 - Chris Holmes

EVERLONG ENTRIES:
MIKE SHELDON AUTO DEALERS:
#47 - Edmund Flanders

HARRIS COMMUNITY MEDIA:
#0 - Alex Remington
#00 - Colin Meredith

Track: Hapilopper City Raceway
City: Hapilopper City
Multiversal Race: The Exhibition 500-Mile Race
Everlong Race: Everlong 400
Length: 1.0 miles
Record: 23.783 seconds
Laps: 500
Layout: Medium-banked mile oval with a concrete surface. HC Raceway, as it is commonly known, was recently repaved a couple years ago, bringing speeds up and possibly changing the character of the circuit from a multi-groove track to a bottom-groove conveyor belt. Expect carnage on the mile for Exhibition 500 Weekend, as part of the Hapilopper National Exhibition. Track officials have recently applied a material to the track surface that some HASCAR drivers have derisively called "Bear Grease" and some wonder if it'll make the track as slick as you know what.

DNF Tendency: 10. The track is still one groove and that "Bear Grease" has made the track really slick. The track has less grip compared to last season due to wear on the pavement, and you know by now that Hapiloppians love their crashes. Honestly I'd turn it up to 11 if Newmanistan would let me.

Image

Track: The HNE Half-Mile
City: Hapilopper City
Multiversal Race: Coweta Agricultural 300
Everlong Race: Sharpe's 250
Length: 0.5 miles
Record: 19.315 seconds
Number of Laps: 250
Layout: The half-mile dirt oval on the grounds of the Hapilopper National Exhibition, the HNE Half-Mile is a medium-banked dirt oval where drivers can take advantage of all kinds of lanes across the track. Up high near the wall, riding the cushion? Sure! Down low against the inside wall? Go for it! Right in the middle? Do it! If accepted, the HNE Half-Mile should produce a very exciting race as 46 of the best stock car drivers in the multiverse do battle on the dirt.
DNF Tendency* (1 to 10): 9. This is a dirt track.

MULTIVERSAL ENTRY:
OLIVER MARLIN RACING:
#20 - Ray Harding
#60 - Tyson Hoyt
#80 - Roosevelt Jenkins

Multiversal Race: Southside Bank 400
Track: Halsted Raceway
City: Halsted, Wreckeria
Length: 0.4 mile oval
Record: 14.935 seconds
Laps: 400
DNF Tendency: 8. It's a flat short track, the speeds aren't going to be high, but there will still be some carnage as the close-quarters action ensues. Expect every car in the field to have some manner of damage by the time the race is over.

Halsted Raceway is a short, flat 4/10ths mile short track located not far from downtown Halsted, and located near an encampment formerly used by the True Wreckerians in the midst of the 54 years of civil warring faced by Wreckeria. Since the fighting has subsided, the sport of auto racing, once known as the most popular sport in Wreckeria, has made a resurgence on the back of short tracks like this one.

Driver: #16 - Laura Mackenzie

Track: Darjengo Speedway
City: Darjengo, North Coast, Sajnur
Length: 3.728 miles
Record: 1:02.885
Number of Laps: 135
Layout: Heavily banked rectangular oval with tarmac surface. Turns are banked at 36 degrees, long straights are 2km (1.24mi) long, short straights are 500m (0.31mi) long. Turn 4 and the front straight are on an 2% downslope; turn 2, the preceding short straight, and turn 3 are on 4% upslopes.
DNF Tendency* (1 to 10): 7. Near constant high speeds are taxing on both mechanical parts and driver concentration.

Track: Oxyrhynchus-Ring

Layout: Short tri-oval track. Imagine Kansas Speedway but shrunk down to the size of Richmond Speedway.
DNF Tendency: 9.5

The Oxyrhynchus-Ring has developed a reputation in the Abanhfleft Racing Truck Series (ARTS) as being a place where tire management is king because of the unique nature of the track's surface. The place in which the Ring was built is known for having an extremely abrasive type of sand that quickly erodes and wears down the asphalt, and despite efforts by the track owners to sweep the surface clear before every race, this very abrasive sand still shows up on the track on race day and plays a massive factor in chewing up tires. Even the hardest compound of tires available would be hard-pressed to survive at least 100 laps at the Oxyrhynchus-Ring, and any tire failures will be compounded by the walls surrounding the track itself. For this season. in an obvious and blatant attempt to copy the chaotic races produced by Hapilopper's HNE Half-Mile, the O-Ring's owners have decided to convert the track into a dirt oval, or more accurately, a "sand oval." They won't try to clear the sand anymore; instead, they have actually decided to dump more sand on the track and cover the asphalt with the stuff.

BDEnergy 400
Track: Selid Oval
City: Selid, Myleikaf Province, Abanhfleft

DNF Tendency: 7

Image
(Imagine that it's in a desert instead of this farmland)

The Selid Oval is one of the three crown jewels of motorsports in Abanhfleft, alongside the Olistan National Speedway and the Santiago Velasco Autodrome, and it plays host to the curtain-closer of the Abanhfleft Racing Truck Series (ARTS) season. The Oval, along with the city of Selid itself, is located in the middle of the Myleishi Plateau, a high desert plateau rising to almost one thousand feet where some of the highest temperatures in Abanhfleft were recorded. Temperatures up to 40 degrees Celsius are not unheard of in Selid, and thus this is why every race held at the Oval since the first one in 1984 has been a night race. The track itself is kind to cars; the true challenge of the Oval is driver endurance. In a place where night temperatures still hover in and around 30 degrees Celsius, drivers often emerge from their cars dehydrated and exhausted, with some even on the verge of heatstroke. In fact, it was the onset of heatstroke which caused Rico Baltazar to turn into Armand Victorino and cause a fifteen-truck crash in 2002 which eventually led to the deaths of both Baltazar and Dale Hannigan.

As you may have seen in the video, it's a slightly abnormal track. Located approximately 400-600 metres above ground and in the Downtown of 69X City, the race track is built alongside and on top of dozens of buildings that dot the northern Sonnelite citystate of approximately 7 million people. What makes it particularly difficult to drive, on top of the unnatural terrain, is abundance of challenging corners that coincide with loud noise and wind chill once up that high. Due to this reason, the track itself has lots of nettings right next to the tracks to avoid the cars from falling to possible tragedies.

Team (Multiversal Cup Series):

Xianing Racing

Relations between the Nexus Wardship of Former Citizens of the Nimbus System and foreign powers are many and varied but, broadly, tend towards positive and valued. The same, unfortunately, cannot be said of those with the Sherpa Empire; questions and suspicion over the nature of Imagination, a powerful essence that lets any who use it shape the world around them, are engendered by assumptions taken from Sherpan magic. Cutting through them to arrive at a place of mutual benefit has proved difficult by conventional diplomacy.

Any given Nimban mind, however, is rarely ever too far away from the unconventional. The huge success of Nexus Racing in growing the Wardship’s soft power has long been noted in the halls of the Ministerial Office for Diplomacy and in promoting the fruits of its Imagitech in those of the Ministerial Office for Science and Technology. A NSSCRA driver from the Empire publicly interested in Imagination and already familiar with the Wardship was, therefore, too good an opportunity to miss. Thus, Shuzhen Zhu’s IRACT-derived team heads into NSSCRA 14 reconstituted, augmented with Nimban personnel and with a manufactory in the Wardship in support. Still a small operation, fielding only Zhu herself to maximise agility and prevent accusations of a Nimban ‘takeover’, its members nonetheless aim to propel her to the Championship in its inaugural year.

There is, after all, some precedent for that.

Driver (Multiversal Cup Series):

#44 Shuzhen Zhu

(To be RPed by The Sherpa Empire.)
We are the Nexus Wardship of Former Citizens of the Nimbus System, not just a collection of people; please shorten to the pre-title or use the full name!

Emmet: You might see a mess -
Lord Business: Exactly: a bunch of weird, dorky stuff that ruined my perfectly good stuff!
Emmet: Okay. What I see are people, inspired by each other and by you - people taking what you made and making something new out of it.

The central Nimban cultural ideal summed up in an exchange from The Lego Movie.
