Double Swap Gone Wrong at Race of Sonnel

VTM (poorly) execute Double Driver Swap in Sonnel

Image
The Race Of Sonnel, Circuit of the Sonnelites, 69X City, Sixty-ninE X :: When the checkered flag fell at the Race of Sonnel, it was no question that Vilita and Turori Motorsports had a bad day with all four of their cars finishing 19th or worse - led once again by the anchor performance of sophomore driver Islago Tizilna. However, the finishing positions alone do not tell the full story of a race that started out with promise and quickly turned chaotic. Vilita and Turori Motorsports thought they had prepared well for the race weekend, strategically entering Rockii Ezis in a fourth car so the Everlong Contenders Series driver could get extra track time in the event they needed to step in for River 'Shark' Suzgar II who had been injured in a wreck at the TMW 500 one race prior. After taking it easy for practice and qualifying Suzgar felt good in the car and reportedly told the team they didn't think they would need a relief driver on race day, giving Ezis the green light to start the race in the #06 after qualifying in the 32nd position. However, just laps into the event when an incident between Virginy Kyzylov and Ricky Lee brought out the yellow flag, Suzgar had a change of heart. After some contact on the start jostled the former NSSCRA Champion, The Shark started thinking about their sponsors. The next event was the Toys '4' All 500 - the namesake race of one of the drivers biggest long-time sponsors. When the yellow flag flew Suzgar contemplated this fact as the cars bunched up then surprised the team by calling "Swap Swap" on the radio. While the team had discussed the protocol for swapping drivers during mid-week meetings, no one was expecting it on race day based on Suzgar's assessment of their condition on Saturday. Rockii Ezis was on track running 4 positions behind Suzgar while Turakki Mayelli was standing by in the #14 pit area - but was in Street Clothes and inconveniently, Mayelli's firesuit and helmet were still back in the hauler as the team assumed if any swap was needed they would have more than 20 seconds notice to prepare for it.

With Suzgar already making the left to commit to pit road and Mayelli sat like a deer in headlights wearing a Visit TI Polo shirt on top of the box, Suzgar's Crew Chief made the call on the team radio to bring Rockii Ezis down pit road as well and called "Double Swap" on the radio. Of course, this wasn't actually part of the team protocol so they followed up "Help Rockii out of the 06 we need him in the 14"

Within moments there were two Vilita and Turori Motorsports Everlong Contenders Series drivers running around the pit lane of a Multiversal Cup Series Race. Ezis ran directly from the #06 pit stall to the #14 pit stall which was about 9 stalls further up the track, and hopped in not long after Suzgar had gotten clear of the window. The #06 car, meanwhile, remained idling on pit road as Mayelli ran back to the hauler, got their firesuit and helmet on and eventually began the run back to the #06 pits. Unfortunately, the poor execution of the swap left Vilita and Turori Motorsports in a tough situation as now neither of the two cars was being driven by the driver who they planned to drive it. They did not have an insert ready for Rockii Ezis in the #14 Seat and the Insert they had ready for Mayelli in the #14 car didn't fit in the #06 seat leaving both drivers uncomfortable. Mayelli had already lost a lap on pit road during the change for the #06 team but Ezis would also find themselves a lap down after a penalty was issued to the #14 team shortly after the green flag came out. Apparently it had taken a while to find an infraction to apply in the rule book but ultimately a penalty was levied in relation to Ezis running on the hot side of the pit wall across 9 pit boxes before hopping in the #14. It put both cars on a lap of their own which, combined with the uncomfortable driving conditions, made for an extremely long day for both Ezis - now driving in the #14, and Mayelli, unexpectedly piloting the #06, for the remainder of the race. The odd maneuver also put Ezis on a very, very, very short list of drivers who have piloted two different NSSCRA cars in the same event. The two drivers would stay out of trouble for the remainder of the race with Vilita and Turori motorsports ensuring the #14 at least finished ahead of the #06 in 36th position. While the poor finish resulting in a massive hit to Suzgar's position in the NSSCRA Multiversal Cup Series standings, the team was trying to look at the glass half full position of 10 points earned that they might not have had if Suzgar was unable to start the race at all. Adding to the teams troubles, however, was the fact that the race was won by UrGa Motorsports driver Koshiro Kawai who - along with their teammate Wilma von Carinthen - were drivers outside the Top 16 in the standings making the current mark to advance to the playoffs on points set at 13th place Rinzi Aogar Zakhilwal of Team Blue who was 22 points clear of Suzgar with just 6 races to go before the cutoff.

William Archer took a deep breath of the cool and crisp mountain air at Shigatse Airport as he went out of the private plane that had carried him, his father Guillermo, and his friend Adonis Fitzpatrick to the Sherpa Empire. It had been four years since he was last here, four years since he had tried his hand at driving a stock car and racing under IRACT’s rules, a ruleset that could be described as being much more generous and loose in its interpretation of the actual rules than the international sanctioning bodies like NSSCRA and WGPC. A lot of crazy things had happened to William since then, namely him joining Preston Autos’ WGPC factory team and winning at least two races, first the team’s home event in Hapilopper City and then the Vilitan Grand Prix. It seemed to William a funny coincidence that the two places in which he had won were also the two places where his father had also won in NSSCRA, but after Gil’s medical retirement from racing, it didn’t seem likely that there would be any more places where both the elder and younger Archer could claim to be victorious.

The Sherpa Empire was one of those places where neither Guillermo nor William had ever won a race. It definitely wasn’t for a lack of trying though; in Gil’s case, short track racing was just as much of a lottery as superspeedway racing was, and as for William, WGPC hadn’t yet gone to a track in Pharak. But the next few days were a chance for William to win in the Sherpa Empire as the Urotovsky-Gatutin Motorsports Division had made plans to enter both William and Donny Fitzpatrick into the TMW 400, one of two stock car events in the Sherpa Empire’s Chinese Territories where the winner and the runner-up get a chance to enter the two NSSCRA-sanctioned events in Pharak as an open charter. In the early days of the TMW 400, only IRACT drivers had tried their hands at it, but once a place in NSSCRA became part of the prize of winning the race since it was an IRAC-sanctioned event, foreign drivers began joining the race as well. Some found it easy to go up against IRACT-level drivers, but others struggled to keep up with how loosely rules were interpreted and applied in this part of the racing multiverse. In any case, short track racing still added a level of randomness to the results, but to some people, that was exactly the appeal of the whole thing.

UrGa had to ask Preston Autos for permission to borrow William from the Hapiloppian team so the Pridnestrovian team could enter the young Fleftic driver into the TMW 400 alongside their own driver Donny Fitzpatrick. UrGa had a number of spare cars from the previous season that they were going to give to William and Donny for them to drive in Ramba. The two drivers and friends had met up in Effelenendro, which was the hometown for the both of them, before they joined William’s father Guillermo on the latter’s private jet for the trip to Ramba.

William took another deep breath of the cool air in Shigatse when he felt two hands pressing against his back. “Hey, stewardess, someone is blocking the aisle! How are people supposed to get off the plane now?” Donny Fitzpatrick said from behind him.

“Come on, man, give me a break!” William replied immediately. “It’s been four years since I’ve been here. I gotta figure out what’s changed, if any!”

“Well, why can’t you let a brother off before sniffing the air once again?” Donny asked.

“First, you should have said something. Second, I got on this plane last, so I should be the one to go off first! That’s how it works!” William retorted, but there was a smile on his face even as he said that.

“Oh, so you wanna get off the plane first? How about I give you a helping hand with that?” Donny said back, but just like William he was also smiling as the two friends began fooling around.

“Hey, how about you young ones do all that pushing and shoving on the apron?” Gil Archer asked from behind the two. “We wouldn’t want either one of you or, God forbid, the both of you, to get injured before we’ve even gotten to Ramba now, do we?”

“Of course, Mr. Archer, whatever you say,” Donny nodded, and then he turned back to William and said, “Well, you heard your dad, William. Time to go!”

“Wait your turn!” William said one last time before he went down the airstairs to the apron, followed by Donny, and then as soon as both of them were on solid ground, William said, “First one to the van pays for dinner in Ramba!” And before Donny could even react, William was already off. “Sneaky son of a bitch,” Donny muttered with a chuckle, and then he trotted after the younger Archer.

The TMW Test Track was a very busy place, especially with all the foreigners joining in with the IRACT locals in trying to book their place in the TMW 500, the next NSSCRA race on the schedule. William Archer and Donny Fitzpatrick were only two drivers among a sea of them, and their relative isolation compared to the rest served to highlight this. That being said, UrGa had another driver in its stable for the TMW 400, and that was a driver with whom the team had had some history. It was of course none other than Dinggu Wang, the “wily old campaigner” whom Olga Gatutina had wanted and tried to make into NSSCRA's oldest champion before the matter was taken out of her hands by UrGa's board of directors (at the instigation of a certain Yakov Leonidovich Yurievsky). Even though Wang was no longer driving in NSSCRA (nor was he even driving in IRACT from what everyone else could tell), UrGa still made it a point to keep entering Wang into both the TMW 400 and the Rumble in the Rice Fields. UrGa used equipment from the previous season to kit out Wang during the Rumble but let him run his old sponsor, Nanchang Beer, and this particular Rumble was no different.

William and Donny weren't the only Fleftic drivers taking part in the TMW 400 though. In the UrGa camp, they were joined by a certain Leonidas Baxter, the basketball player-turned-racing driver who was also the de facto team owner of UrGa's Everlong team. There was also another Fleftic driver in the Rumble, Eddie Suzuki, but he was also the only one not driving an UrGa car. Suzuki was not affiliated with UrGa so the team saw no need to approach him with a ride, and they were already running four cars anyway so that was a moot point for them. But that did allow Duisdorf to swoop in and give him a ride, and it was a current-spec Ascension at that, one that could be driven in NSSCRA if needed. And getting a NSSCRA open charter wasn't the only thing motivating Suzuki to do well in the race; he also saw the TMW 400 as an opportunity to shop himself out to any interested foreign racing series. He thought that he had a move to Filindostan's FISCAR lined up and waiting two years ago, but events in that country had resulted in the move falling through, and now Suzuki was once again on the lookout for a move.

Even HRH Prince Bismillah bin Kudarat al Untas was back in action for the TMW 400, and this time he had brought two promising young drivers from his academy to Ramba with him. Momqud Xonaxonov and Mario Baltazar were names that most people had not yet heard of, but it was the Prince's belief that if either one of them (or preferably both) could do well in the race then that would open up a lot of doors for both young men, just as it had opened up for some of the Prince's other hot prospects. Luke Ochoa, champion of the inaugural season of the Aurun WGP3 Championship, was from the Prince's drivers' academy, as was the runner-up of the first season of the Kaedereino Kazaguruma Series, Abdulaziz Hamadi. Xonaxonov himself actually already had some international experience under his belt, having driven for Billingshurst Motors in the Aurun Endurance Championship and winning a Group S race for the Copperite outfit alongside Meliton Gerasimov and Yevhen Demianenko. Now it was time for the Prince's academy to produce stock car racing stars in Xonaxonov and Baltazar.

There was also a pair of young women who had made their way to Ramba in order to take part in the TMW 400. The two of them looked eerily similar to each other, almost like they were identical twins. And though their names did not really suggest it, Ava-May McCray and Lily-Mae Chadwick were actually indeed identical twins. However, they had been separated at birth due to circumstances currently unknown even to them, and all they knew about their childhood was that they had both been in an orphanage for a short time and had then been adopted by different families. Despite the differing backgrounds in which they had grown up, Ava and Lily both ended up gravitating towards motor racing, but it wouldn't be until a chance meeting at a karting track in Cote de Facilier that both girls would see each other once again. The two were practically inseparable since then, and where one girl went, the other inevitably followed. It was perhaps good fortune then that both Ava and Lily were reasonably talented drivers in their own right, but until now they hadn't yet been tested outside of the limited confines of the mystical place known only as the Island of the Lost. Word of the TMW 400 had somehow made its way to the Isle, and Ava and Lily were both chosen to introduce and represent the Isle to the rest of the racing multiverse.

Qualifying for the TMW 400 was a bit of a crapshoot, especially with the vast number of drivers looking to book their place into the race that could potentially win them an open charter for the TMW 500. As was to be expected, there was a lot of chaos and unexpected surprises in Ramba, and that was just from quali. The biggest news of all was the fact that Leo freaking Baxter had just won pole position for the TMW 400. It was Leo's first ever pole position in his short but very much eventful racing career, but it also might end up being his only pole position given that he no longer races regularly. Eddie Suzuki was no slouch either, taking the outside pole beside Leo, and both Dinggu Wang and Prince Bismillah (driving under the name Bismillah Untas as he always did) also made it in. Sadly for both William Archer and Adonis Fitzpatrick, they didn't make it into the Rumble, along with the Prince's young driver prospects and the twins from the Island of the Lost. It was especially painful for William, who missed out on taking part in only his second ever Rumble by two hundredths of a second. If only he had found those two hundredths of a second then maybe William could have snuck into the TMW 400, but alas, he was relegated to watching it from the sidelines alongside Donny Fitzpatrick.

"Man, that was so close for you!" Donny said as he and William made to leave the Ramba garages to turn in for the night. "I can't even imagine being in your shoes right now, and I missed out on the Rumble by six hundredths! I don't even wanna know what it feels like to have missed out by just two hundredths of a second!"

"I mean, you're not wrong, man," William said. "It definitely sucks. But then again, this is stock cars we're talking about here. We're open wheeler guys. It's only natural that we're going to struggle for a bit here." And then, as they went out of the track, William happened to notice two figures who looked like they were looking sadly at the track itself. "I wonder what their deal is," Donny muttered. "Maybe they're fans who couldn't make it into the race."

"Damn, that's gotta suck," William muttered back. "Almost as much as actually missing the Rumble as a driver."

As the two of them got closer to the other pair, something in the back of Donny's mind told him that they looked familiar to him. Or at least one person did. "Is that… no, it can't be," he said. "But what if it is? Oh shit! It is him!"

“What? Who? Who are you talking about?” William asked.

“The guys over there!” Donny replied, pointing at the two people that they had just seen. “I know them! They’re not just your average fans. I think one of them is Batu!”

“Batu? The guy who left all those notes in the garage for you?” William asked skeptically. “Batu Tüvshinbayar, WGP2 Season 5 champion, is here in Ramba right now?”

“Yeah, I really think that that’s him,” Donny nodded. “And I think that the other guy is Lane Carter. Yo, I don’t think I can remember the last time I even talked to those guys. I’m thinking we should catch up.”

“Sure, man, whatever you say,” William shrugged. Donny went off to greet the two TJUN-ian open wheel drivers while William tagged along. Not that he didn’t want to talk to Batu and Lane, but it had been some time since William last saw them. William could still remember that time that he had invited Lane and Ted Pressley, the Tumbran, for some drinks in an attempt to create a new group of young drivers aiming to challenge the veteran “top dogs” of WGPC. William couldn’t remember exactly what he said that night, but he did remember the massive hangover that struck him the morning after. That might have been the day before or after the Hapiloppian Grand Prix, the one that he won. But William couldn’t be too sure at the moment.

“Hey, guys, what’s up?” Donny called out to Batu and Lane. “Man, it feels like it’s been years since I last saw you two. How’s it been? And what are you guys doing here in Ramba? You guys here for the TMW 400 too? I don’t think I saw either one of you in qualifying though, so what’s up with that?”

Kai Qiang wasn’t the only Chinese driver from the Sherpa Empire to have attracted a foreign fanbase after he got into NSSCRA. Dinggu Wang also managed to get himself a substantial following in Abanhfleft in the two years that he drove for one of the country’s teams, and though most of Wang’s fans were also ethnically Chinese Fleftics, Flefts of other ethnicities had also found themselves gravitating towards the soft-spoken elder statesman because of his personality, and also because he wasn’t as outspoken or opinionated as the other drivers that Abanhfleft had produced in NSSCRA so far. Most Fleftic racing fans considered both Guillermo Archer and Wilma von Cärinthen to be too political for their tastes, and so it had been difficult for them to root for someone from the same country as they were. Thus it was easy for a lot of people to transfer their allegiance to Wang when he was signed by UrGa in its bid to make him the oldest NSSCRA champion.

Even after Wang had been unceremoniously dumped out of UrGa by a certain Yakov Yurievsky, his Fleftic fans still kept supporting him. They tried to follow Wang back to IRACT, only to be disappointed when they found out that Wang had quit racing after getting dropped by UrGa. But despite all of that, the fans remained firm in their support of the old man, and when UrGa announced that they were backing Wang for the Rumble in Ramba, the fans converged on Ramba en masse. And with UrGa now seemingly committed to keeping Wang in the Rumble for as long as the able to do so, Wang’s Fleftic fans had turned their yearly visits to Ramba as a sort of pilgrimage during which they pay their respects to their favorite driver.

Dinggu Wang had taken pole position in the Rumble in Ramba one year ago, but he hadn’t been able to convert that into a win, falling down to 13th place while Ongmu Yeti (from Pharak and also an actual yeti) and Jamie Izabella Astrid Eirian (from Valentine Z) had won the open charters for the TMW 500. This year, Wang was all the way down in 36th place after having had a poor qualifying session, but that didn’t stop his dedicated fans from Abanhfleft from cheering him that day, and on the day of the race itself. And it was perhaps that fiery and passionate support for him that powered Wang through the field right from the start of the actual race, and he never fell out of the top 10 of the field after that initial cycle in which he had to blast through the rest of the field and even avoid a few accidents here and there. As lap after lap was ticked off and the 79 car covered in the decals of Nanchang Beer held on to the lead, the cheers from his fanbase only got louder.

And when the checkered flag was finally waved, Wang’s supporters took a page out of the book of the Kai Qiang uber-fanboy extraordinaire and shouted at the top of their lungs just one sentence:

GUA AI DI, WANG DINGGU!!!

How about The Race Of Sonnel, huh? Talk about a race where we didn't know anything about what might occur; yet, what we got was worth the wait. It was indeed a wet and wild one, so let's just get straight into it!

The Race of Sonnel was the debut event for Cup Series racing here in Sixty-ninE X and the wet Circuit of the Sonnelites certainly would produce an interesting race, in more ways than one. Surprisingly, only 4 drivers would actually DNF from this race with Ricky Lee being the biggest name of the four not to make the end. As for everyone else, things would certainly be very interesting. Both the open-charters in this race wouldn't have the best of fun, but at least they finished the race with Rockii Ezis in P39 and Ronald Victor in P41. To the surprise of a few, Lam Chow-Cheung actually had a bit of a quiet day and would end up in P21 from their starting position of P28. It was a consistent day, certainly, but not the flashiest. Their teammate, Aurélia Karvonen, seems to be going from strength to strength as they managed to end up as the best non-charter of the day in P13, a sign that maybe the experience she has is finally starting to pay off in the #71.

As for us, well we at Jagaur Racing were certainly starting to think about the Chase to come and the inescapable fact that will have 2 cars in Chase for the very first time. But many within this team wanted all 3 cars up there and thus, the plans for this race were mainly about trying to help Maddison Riley-Jones (@MaddyRJ03), who started from P43, try and claw her way back into the conversation for a spot in the postseason. The boys were starting ahead, with Alfonso Mercado (@AM64) in P9 and Michael Stefan (@Stefan07) in P20, but once the green game out, our efforts were certainly coordinated...to a frightening degree. For the entire running of this event, we had at least one of our cars somewhere in the vicinity of the Top 10 as #Get03ToTheChase was starting to take full effect. Sure, it wasn't perfect, but the three drivers with our badge of honour on their cars certainly made themselves useful right till the very end. Towards the final few laps, we decided to enact the "Jaguar Train" to try and push Maddy up the field and it certainly worked to great effect. In the end, we ended up one position off the goal as Koshiro Kawai was too far ahead to deny him his first-ever win for both his team and himself, but a 2-3-4 was certainly a cause for celebration all the same as Stefan joined Maddy up there to celebrate a good day's effort. We proved today that the Jagaur can bring collective success when working effectively...and that might become a bit scary for some of our peers in the races to come.

Next time is the usual unusual weekend as we entertain a Friday and a Saturday of action at the Lonngeylin Ring in Vilita. Everlong on Friday and the famous Toys '4' All 500 on Saturday...with a certain TJUN-ian in a local team looking to try and make a splash. Lane Carter races for Race Eelandii! VTGP in the WGPC series of open wheel and, due to that connection, Lane is hoping to use the team's #77 NSSCRA car, previously used by Juracai Klianiota, as an open charter. Of course, that would depend on what NSSCRA thinks about all that and whether any other locals want to try and get in as well, but the paperwork has actually been sent to the right address this time so hopefully, we may see the Apple Man from Galar in two weeks time. See you then!

Sometimes, stuff just happens and you just have to make do with what you can actually do. For two of TJUN-ia's best motorsports names, they certainly were trying to do just that. Originally, the plan was for two certain guys to enter the famous TMW 400 in Ramba in The Sherpa Empire under the banner of Jaguar Racing in order to try and claim one of the two qualifying spots into NSSCRA's TMW 500 the next week. At least, that was the plan, but the documents that were supposed to enter the drivers into the event got sent to the wrong IRACT email address via some good ol' admin error and as such, those plans were mistakenly torn up without anyone realising until the entry list got released a few days before. Of course, the apologies were forthcoming and JR made sure to tell these drivers that they would be "compensated whenever possible", but as these two had already booked the plane tickets to go to Tibet, they both agreed to just go anyway and enjoy the proceedings from the stands.

These two drivers, Lane Carter and Batu Tüvshinbayar, had certainly enjoyed the show and were spending the post-race having a good chat about the upcoming WGPC season, Lane's 3rd and Batu's 1st...whenever it's actually gonna happen. After both their seasons ended, with Lane ending up P6 in WGPC and Batu ending up becoming WGP2 Champion, they sorta just...ended up connecting via a DM Lane sent to Batu a week after the Season Finales...one which would inspire Batu to create that group chat he has with Lam Chow-Cheung and Tshering Gyeltshen. Ever since then, they've hung out a few times and talked a lot about how they've made it to where they are and even shared a few tips with each other, with Batu teaching Lane about handling the pressure of being a "big name" (as the Reigning WGP2 Champion is classed as) while Lane gave Batu some good pointers about making the jump from WGP2 to WGPC. They've even told each other about some of their darker moments, like Lane's emails into the void and Batu's whole season NN and both of their experiences with drivers from Abanhfleft...and then they turned up. Both of them.

You see, the open-wheel drivers of Abanhfleft and TJUN-ia seemingly cannot avoid one another and because one, Adonis Fitzpatrick, actually raced in the 400 and ended up in 3rd, it wasn't a surprise to see William Archer here as well. Both Lane and Batu certainly have stories to tell about one particular member of this duo, both involving bars in faraway lands. It was in Hap City when Will, Lane and a certain Ted Pressley ended up hanging out, with Will ending up drunk on gin and wanting to form a group of new blood drivers who want to try and overhaul the veterans of the WGPC. That adventure was certainly interesting but something about Will made Lane stay on and while they haven't spoken much since that meeting, it was always nice to see the Son of the DevilGilShit-talker out here again. But Lane also knew that Batu's connection to the one Batu called "Donny" was certainly large. After a whole saga of messages and good form afterwards, they had a...very emotional meeting at Tambayanan in Effelelendro City, one where Batu burdened a lot of his past onto his friend in exchange for the belief that would carry them towards that WGP2 Crown. Ever since then, Batu has always held Donny in great respect and tried to contact him when he can...even if others think that this "respect" for Donny goes a bit deeper than what Batu made out. Still, the respect was certainly there and seeing Donny again was certainly something to instil some joy back into Batu's heartcurrent situation.

Abanhfleft wrote:“Hey, guys, what’s up?” Donny called out to Batu and Lane. “Man, it feels like it’s been years since I last saw you two. How’s it been? And what are you guys doing here in Ramba? You guys here for the TMW 400 too? I don’t think I saw either one of you in qualifying though, so what’s up with that?”

After Batu greeted Donny with a mildly-suggestive "Am I glad to see you!" and Lane greeted Will with "Hello there, Mr Revolutionary!", they explained the "cock-up" on Jaguar Racing's part and why they weren't in the race to begin with. "Stuff just happens, you know?" as Lane would say, "Yeah, a shame but a lesson learned" as Batu said. Then the discussion branched out to other things, things that may be followed up upon as soon as the WGPC got back underway. Lane asked Will abut when he was going to "commend a 2nd meeting of the Young Drivers Club" and if he was excited about the upcoming season. Batu asked Donny about when he wanted to "do things properly" and meet up once more...before mentioning something interesting. "You raced my freind, Lam Chow-Cheung, before at an ARTS race...and I promised them I'd get you too to meet one day. when would you want to do that?"

One that was sorted, it was time for goodbyes filled with handshakes filled with the hope that's soon, they will meet again. Soon, they will get back on the track again. Soon.

NSSCRA 13 | Round 11 Preview: Lonngeylin Ring

Toys '4' All 500, Lonngeylin Ring, Lonngeylin, Vilita

Lonngeylin Ring :: Information

About the Track:
Track Location: Lonngeylin, Vilita, Atlantian Oceania
Lap Record: 14.995 (Yraaga Gilli'i - Season 9)
Track Lap Length: 1/3rd Mile

The Lonngeylin Ring is a one-third mile Short Track the offers the possibility of a high speed racing line utilizing the greatest elevation change per distance traveled on the circuit. The 'Ring' features elevation changes similar to those on a multi-mile Road Course packed into a traditional short track experience with two different bankings on opposite ends of the race track and relatively flat straightaways offering a unique experience and challenging course to perfect for the Crew Chiefs.

The most famous finish at the Toys '4' all 500 came during NSSCRA Season 9 when Stacie Houston bumped Yraaga Gilli'i out of the way as the Vilita & Turori Motorsports driver looked for their third victory at the Lonngeylin Ring. Vilita and Turori Motorsports have applied for former Lonngeylin Ring Track Champion and current Everlong Contenders Series competitor #49 Lotara Novorali to compete in the Toys '4' All 500 with sponsorship from Arcticala Electrical. She is expected to be joined by popular TJUN-ian World Grand Prix driver Lane Carter as one-off competitors after Carter announced a deal to compete in the #77 Race Eelandii Dart that Juracai Klianiota drove to a Top 10 finish earlier in the season. Carter will bring sponsorship from The Dart Group for the event.

Last Season Review :: Former race winner and short track star Stacie Houston took pole position during NSSCRA 12 just 0.001s off Yraaga Gilli'i's all time track record. It was Gilli'i, who started directly behind rival Houston, who had the last laugh winning the race. The Vilita and Turori Motorsports driver may be looking at this event as their last great chance to secure a spot in the NSSCRA 13 Playoffs. Newmanistan's Bryan Harrison became an NSSCRA winner for the first time during the NSSCRA 12 Everlong Contenders Series Racing Collectibles 300 at the Lonngeylin Ring.

Crossing the Start Finish line drivers will enter Turns 1 and 2. The fastest line will be around the bottom of the track where drivers will have to dive down as the 20 degrees of banking begin at the top of the track where the outside wall is level in altitude to the flat front straightaway. The inside of the turn however drops down and drivers will gain speed as their momentum pulls them along toward the gravitational center.

ImageImage

Exiting turn 2 the drivers will climb back up the track returning to station zero down the back straight away where they will have the option to stay at the same elevation on the low side of the track or climb to the high side and build up potential energy as they climb to the tracks highest point.

ImageImage

Both the high and low line in Turns 3 and 4 and provide their advantages as the high line towers above the rest of the track in the 33 degree banked Turn. The exit of Turn 4 is the most dangerous part of the track as cars from the high line come roaring back down the track at high speed intersecting with cars who have taken the shorter route around the track but are pushing towards the outside wall having been unable to use the high banking to help them through the turn.

Fan Access:

Fans will watch the race from the large Main Grandstand on the Front Stretch. There is no public seating in Turns 1 & 2 as this is where the teams will be based for the weekend outside the track. The Grandstand in Turns 1 & 2 is reserved for teams, crew members, spotters and sponsor representatives. There will be a fanzone outside Turn 3 & 4 where fans may find Activities, Souvenirs and Sponsor Tents. General Admission fans will also be able to watch the race from the hill in Turns 3 & 4. The campgrounds are located on the backstretch side of the track. New for this season, a large jumbotron has been added to the fanzone to increase capacity in the general admission sections. The track will be selling more tickets than there are seats with standing room access available to fans whose primary interests may be the off track activities or may not want to sit for the entire event.

Where to Eat:

Vilitan Motorsport fan's favorite vendor "We'll Fry It" will be present at the Lonngeylin Ring. The business model is supreme as they don't supply any of the food with the price of the meal. "We'll Fry It"s profitable business model allows the customer to bring whatever they want... and "We'll Fry It" fries it for them for a nominal fee. We'll fry it also has a selection of things that fly, things that moo, things that swim and even candies that can be purchased and fried for an additional fee. "We'll Fry It" will fry anything under 2 square feet in size for just 7 tures or three separate items for 15 tures. Each item includes a full selection of condiments at no additional cost.

In addition to "We'll Fry It" there will be a standard selection of foods at the central eatery with all the local cuisine from throughout Atlantian Oceania and even abroad. There will be a Cocoa-bo tent in the fanzone outside turn 4 with a full selection of the most popular Cocoa-bo delectables and there will also be a pop-up 'CoCo-Mart' location with a selection of food and essentials in the campground area of the backstretch. Dagan sandwich shop Subhouse has also been added to the list of approved vendors for the expected increased capacity event.

The Spinning Leek Restaurant will be a new addition to the fare at the Lonngeylin Ring. As an official partner for World Cup 92, The Spinning Leek is looking to grow their presence and will have a foodstand outside turns 3&4.

FanZone Information

Many local corporations will be sponsoring booths and activities throughout the fanzone. The Vilisorma Beverage Company always brings a spirited display and the Vilaye Booth in turn 4 will be handing out samples. Fans will not be able to bring cans of Vilaye into the grandstand with them and will have to request the special edition paper based containers if purchasing to bring into the Grandstand.

Tiones Lumber will be set up outside Turn 3 with their mini-lumberjack competition fan zone. Fans can line up to compete in many famed wood-based competitions such as the 40-foot speed climb, Long rolling, the Standing Block Chop and there will even be a team relay. The best times each day win prizes from Tiones Lumber. First prize winners will be excluded from winning on subsequent days but alternate prize winners can compete for the big prize the following day. Fans who beat the all time-records could find themselves winning free Paddock Passes or other great prizes from Tiones Lumber.

Tropicorp Racing Supply's 'Pit Stop Challenge" display will finally return and will be present near the end of the back straightaway where fans will be able to test their ability to change an NSSCRA tyre or act as the fuel person so long as they first sign a release form indemnifying Tropicorp and the Lonngeylin Ring facility of any injury that may occur as they attempt to set the fast times to qualify for a daily prize drawing from Tropicorp.

Lonngeylin based Lighthouse Lightworx will have an all-touch extra-sensory display zone including the glasses-free Virtual Reality zone. While the GFVR zone is a must-see the lines are likely to be long as just two fans can enter the GFVR experience at one time and the experience takes between two and five minutes per person. Lighthouse Lightworx will also be an associate sponsor on the #49 Arcticala Electrical Dart to be driven by former track champion Lotara Novorali for Vilita and Turori Motorsports Novorali Enterprises in the Tier 2 Everlong Contenders Series event.

The events major sponsor Toys '4' All will have a large tent showcasing the Racing Collectibles line including a selection of low-print run promotional cars and a souvenir Toys '4' All 500 race program car. Toys '4' All driver River 'Shark' Suzgar II will be signing autographs before qualifying.

The Yutzie River Raceway is a Vilitan Weekly Racing Series track in Vilisorma, Vilita; home of the Vilisorma Beverage Company. Prior to the inagural event, officials at Vilaye determined it would be better and more impactful for the Vilaye Energy Drink Clash to take place prior to the start of the NSSCRA Playoffs to ensure that the non-points race did not interfere with the Playoff contenders preparation for the Vilaye Energy Drink 314 which is not only the second race of the NSSCRA Chase but the penultimate Five Star Five Combo event. The Starting lineup for the Vilaye Energy Drink Clash will be determined based on Number of Vilaye Energy Drink Pole Awards won during the eligibility period, with recency being the tiebreaker.

The Yutzie River Raceway is located North up the Western Vilitan Coastline from Lonngeylin. At the conclusion of the Toys '4' All 500, those teams competing in either the Vilaye Energy Drink Clash or Vilaye Open will be welcome to bring their haulers up the coast to the Yutzie River Raceway and use either their Primary or Backup cars from the event at the Lonngeylin Ring for the Vilaye Clash. The Hauler Parking Lot at Yutzie River Raceway will be open and staffed all evening following the Toys '4' All 500 and transport drivers can arrive at any point with the cars. The Garage will officially open at 10:00 AM on feature day and the first practice session will be held at 1:00 PM. Gates will open to fans at Noon. While the Lonngeylin Ring is slightly larger and higher banked than the Yutzie River Raceway, any setup information gained during the Toys '4' All 500 Race weekend will likely be a good starting point when teams arrive in Vilisorma. While seating will be limited at the quarter mile track, fans in attendance for the Toys '4' All 500 in Lonngeylin the night before will be welcome to return to the track the next day to watch the Vilaye Energy Drink Clash on the big screen. Those who do make the trek up the coast will be treated not only to the Vilaye Energy Drink Clash but a full docket of weekly racing events including the Classic VT Modified division, the Electric Stock division and the Figure 8's who will be taking to the track for their own regularly scheduled weekly racing series events before, between and after the stars of NSSCRA bring the glitz and glamour of internationstatal motorsports to the local Vilitan Short Track.

The following are a few quotes from the group chat named "Bat, Lamb and Sheep", taken during the off week after The Race of Sonnel. The trio are:
Batu Tüvshinbayar, WGP2 Champion, Creator of the Group Chat
Lam Chow-Cheung, NSSCRA Cup Series Driver @ HM, Masked Enby
Tshering Gyeltshen, Elephant Chess Cup 4 Champion, Nerd With A Heart

Monday, Day After Race of Sonnel
LCC: I'm almost on my flight now, how are you guys doing?
Batu: Yeah, I'm doing so good. Good job on P21 yesterday, tough race but still a good showing!
TG: Yes, good job Lam. You made some improvements, that's all you really could've done out there
LCC: Aww, thanks, guys. You really do know how to keep my mood up high
TG: No worries, we know our jobs well. What's the plan now?
LCC: Well...I guess wind down a bit, week off and all that, before we got a Friday-Saturday Weekend in Vilita
Batu: Sounds cool! Hopefully, things don't go to crap last minute
LCC: You're still a bit salty from Tibet?
Batu: A little bit I guess...but don't worry, I've got plans in the works. Plus I got to see Donny again, so that's a big plus :D
TG: Here we go again about Donny...
Batu: It's not like that!
TG: Sure
LCC: Yeah, sure
Batu: YOU TOO LAM?!
LCC: ....yes.
Batu: Look guys, I swear, it's not like that at all. I like Donny as a friend, that's all
TG: Keep telling yourself that, my friend
Batu: CAN WE JUST MOVE ON ALREADY?!

Thursday, 4 Days After Race of Sonnel
Batu: Hey Lam
LCC: What?
Batu: Tell me...what's it like in a sauna?
LCC: Oh...I never expected you to ask me about that. Why do you want to know?
Batu: Just curious
LCC: Right...you know of a hot spring, right?
Batu: Ofc
LCC: Well, it's kinda like that but with no water. You have to use a machine to set the right temperature and then pour water to create a humid environment. It's very soothing once you get used to it
Batu: Sounds cool. Do you wear anything in there?
LCC: Nope, but you can sit on a towel.
Batu: Interesting...thx mate.
LCC: No worries. Anytime.
TG: takes notes
LCC: Fair enough, don't blame you at all.
TG: Curiosity is my middle name.

Late Sunday, 1 Week After Race of Sonnel
TG: Hey, Lam...you still awake?
LCC: Yeah...it's 11 pm here. Why?
TG: Can I talk with you one-to-one? It's kinda important
LCC: ofc. Go ahead
---------------------------LCC and TG started a private chat---------------------------
LCC: Ok...should be all set up. Fire away.
TG: Thanks...is it wrong that I feel a bit...distant in the chat?
LCC: How come?
TG: Well...I guess I just kinda feel like the odd one out, you know. Yes, I know I'm the chess guy in a chat with two racing drivers, but even still...I kinda feel like I'm not really close to either you or Batu right now and...I guess it hurts a bit.
LCC: Batu wouldn't have invited you into this if he didn't want you here, you know?
TG: I get that but it's just...I want to feel like I'm actually beneficial to the whole thing, you know? You two have so much stuff going on and...I guess I'm feeling a bit left out of it all, you know?
LCC: I get it...but you're a superstar too, you know? You helped TJUN-ia care about fucking chess, you're in the Hall of Fame. People do care about you, Tshering...like me, like Batu, like your TCF teammates. Just remember that if nothing else, OK?
TG: Thanks, Lam. I guess it's hard to remember that when you're not travelling the world.
LCC: But you are the World Champion, not me.
TG: Fair.
.
.
TG: Hey Lam, can I tell you something?
LCC: of course
TG: I think you are my favourite friend.
LCC:  R-really?
TG: Yeah. Yeah, you are. Thank you for being there for me, you know? :)
LCC: No worries, mate. No worries.
.
.
LCC: Do you think all three of us should meet up for TJUN Speed Week?
TG: Hell yeah!

Tuesday, Day Before Flight To Toys '4' All 500
Batu: All set?
LCC: Yes, all set. I should have everything ready to go.
TG: Good luck, LamLam!
Batu: LamLam?
TG: Ah, sorry. That was a typo.
LCC: No worries. TBF, I don't actually mind LamLam at all.
TG: Fair enough.
LCC: Batu, I need to let you in on something.
Batu: :eyebrow: Go on.
LCC: Tshering and I were planning on hanging out at some point during TJUN Speed Week. You In?
Batu: Yes yes yes yes yes yes yes
LCC: Wow
Batu: I'm so down for that. When and where?
LCC: We'll figure that out closer to the time.
Batu: OK...I am SO in for that!
TG: Good :D
------------------------------------------------------
TG: So LamLam is OK?
LCC: Yeah, I'm cool with it.
TG: Cool...then good luck this weekend, LamLam!
LCC: Thx! :p

It was perhaps no secret at all that Ronald Victor maybe did not deserve to be in the NationStates Stock Car Racing Association. However, Victor had more than enough money to buy a charter and fund his own team in NSSCRA though, and thus he was in the competition anyway (but without a guaranteed charter). Almost immediately, Victor was exposed to being pretty much out of his depth, almost always ending up in the bottom part of the qualifying sessions and thus excluding him from most other races in NSSCRA. But if that was all that there was to him then nobody would really pay him any attention. Instead, Ronald Victor chose to blame others for the fact that he couldn’t make it into a NSSCRA-sanctioned race. He chose to blame the officials, he chose to blame other drivers, and most bizarrely of them all, he chose to blame so-called “radical communists” in keeping him out of the races.

Some people thought Ronald Victor was crazy for blaming anyone other than himself for his failures to qualify into NSSCRA’s races, given that most other drivers were more than ready to accept responsibility for their own mistakes. But Ronald Victor wasn’t like most other drivers, or at least he certainly thought so. And he was indeed showing that to the rest of the multiverse, if not exactly in the way that he intended. Most people thought he was funny, especially when he was on twii.tur ranting about corrupt officials and radical communists and engaging in spats with the likes of Kai Qiang, or he would have engaged in spats with Qiang if he didn’t constantly misspell Qiang’s twii.tur username and tag other users, thus bringing them into the conversation whether they wanted to or not.

Many people in the Democratic People’s Republic of the United Socialist States of Pridnestrovia (or just Pridnestrovia for short) also found Ronald Victor’s antics funny, not just because he sounded deranged and paranoid whenever he sent out his latest twiis, but also because they lived in the one country in the NSSCRA sphere that could perhaps be considered as a “radical communist” nation. Officially speaking, Pridnestrovia was now a federal representative democracy, but the Communist Party of the Pridnestrovian Republic still controlled pretty much every important government office in the country. Other parties such as the Pridnestrovian Democratic Party, the Federal Party of Pridnestrovia, and the Unionist Party were allowed to stand for election, and it did have members in the State Duma, but for all intents and purposes, the Communist Party still controlled the Pridnestrovian government. Economically speaking though, Pridnestrovia was now a much different thing. Gone were the days of central planning; now the free market was allowed to operate at will in the country. Many “Western” products and stores were now doing business in Pridnestrovia, and Pridnestrovian people were consuming their products and goods at an almost unprecedented rate. But then again, most of Pridnestrovia’s industries were in the hands of oligarchs who had bought and consolidated most of the industrial concerns in the late eighties and early nineties, and the oligarchs definitely had “agreements” with the Communist Party politicians to keep each other in power for as long as humanly possible. The Pridnestrovian people knew all about this, but nobody said anything as everyone valued their lives over saying anything about the current state of the Pridnestrovian Republic.

In any case, though Pridnestrovia was still practically dominated politically by the Communist Party, and the hammer and sickle still flew proudly on the flag of Pridnestrovia, the Pridnestrovian Republic was as capitalist as most other nations in the NSSCRA sphere. But many Pridnestrovians believed that if Ronald Victor were to see their country’s flag, he would be unable to see anything beyond the hammer and sickle, the universally understood symbols of communism, and to them that was potentially the funniest thing in the world. Pridnestrovian humor could be difficult to understand sometimes. And now there was a video going around in Pridnestrovian meme channels in which Ronald Victor was being depicted as the leader of a purported “communist” revolution against the ruling party of Kerthenia. The original source of the video could be traced back to a twii.tur account belonging to someone with the username “@PDNMemeMinistry,” who posted a twii with a link to a YouBook video.

The video shows Ronald Victor standing on a podium and making a speech to his supporters in Kerthenia. The creator of the video had applied a translucent red filter over Victor, and though the voice that spoke sounded almost like Victor, there were enough differences to suggest to the trained ear that this was not actually Victor speaking in the video. But there were also enough similarities that anyone watching the video could actually believe that it was Ronald Victor speaking until they heard the actual contents of his speech.

”Folks, the bourgeois, they’re no good. More and more people are saying it. All these workers, the biggest—we have the biggest workers, very handsome workers come up to me and say, ‘Comrade Victor, a spectre is haunting Kerthenia,’ and you know what? They’re right. These bourgeois are very nasty people, very very rude, and very unfair to the workers. They are stealing our surplus value, and no one is doing anything about it. The proletariat comes up to me every day and says, ‘Comrade Victor, will you lead the revolution?’ And I gotta turn to them and say, ‘Look, the instruments of capitalism will be used to bring about its destruction, believe me.’ Samuel Obaden never wanted to seize them. Well, guess what? I’m seizing them! Landlords? They’re done for, folks! Everyone told me, they said, ‘Comrade Victor, you won’t be the vanguard of the revolution.’ And they would laugh! The media laughed and the Labor Party laughed. Guess who’s laughing now?”

The coming race weekend of the Toys ‘4’ All 500 in Lonngeylin was due to fall on the same day as the 95th anniversary of the Urotovsky-Gatutin General Machine Building Enterprise, parent company of the Urotovsky-Gatutin Motorsports Division. To celebrate the occasion, UrGa had a special livery in place for both of their cars in NSSCRA, a livery meant to celebrate the legacy of the Machine Building Enterprise and its effect in the history of Pridnestrovia as a whole. They even had a couple of twiis ready to announce their special livery, along with a video explaining the history of UrGa and its contributions to the Pridnestrovian Republic.

“95 years ago, two men, Mikhail Ustinovich Urotovsky and Mikhail Abramovich Gatutin, were directed by the central government in Tiraspol to establish a general machine building enterprise to provide agricultural equipment to the collective farms in Yatuvilsk Province. That enterprise still carries the names of the founders to this day, and in the 95 years between the foundation of the Urotovsky-Gatutin General Machine Building Enterprise, our company has played a big part in the history of the Pridnestrovian Republic. UrGa’s factories were instrumental in Pridnestrovia’s victory over the Grand Duchy of Ixania in both the First and Second Great Patriotic Wars, producing over 4,200 battle tanks for the Pridnestrovian Army and 12,000 trucks and other such transport vehicles in the period between the years 1942 and 1947. Urotovsky-Gatutin also played a large part in Pridnestrovia’s ascension into both a spacefaring and nuclear nation, with the Gatutin Space and Rocketry Design Bureau producing the rockets that sent our Pridnestrovian comrades into space and the missiles that protect Pridnestrovia from the threat of foreign invaders. For 95 years, Urotovsky-Gatutin has served as part of the vanguard of the Pridnestrovian Revolution, providing the weapons that the Pridnestrovian people needed in defending and protecting their nation and their revolutionary ideals. And in those 95 years, Urotovsky-Gatutin has also provided the Pridnestrovian people the means by which they go to and from their workplaces, their schools, and even their vacations. Urotovsky-Gatutin vehicles helped to carry both the raw materials from our fields and our mines to our factories, and Urotovsky-Gatutin vehicles also carried the goods from our factories to the consumers. And now, in commemoration of Urotovsky-Gatutin’s 95 years in the service of the Pridnestrovian people, Urotovsky-Gatutin Motorsports Division presents a new livery for NSSCRA to honor and commemorate our parent company.”

Thea Alvarez was very excited about the Race of Sonnel. Her boyfriend, the bearded hunk called Ilya Tsunopin, was already familiar with her native St. Kanye, having even built a mansion there, but she had no idea at all what his home country of 69X was like. From the flight from Sherpaland to Newmanistan, and even after they have arrived in 69X City, all that came out of her mouth was how much she was looking forward to seeing all the sights in this strange new place, and maybe even do well during Sunday's race.

She and her fellow Gale Force Racing drivers Jeremiah Brooke and Stacie Houston got a pleasant surprise when locals swarmed them for selfies and autographs upon their arrival. GFR was, after all, where Ilya got his start in the Cup Series as an R&D driver. He considered both Stacie and Jeremiah as mentors, and it was the latter who would discover him and encourage him to sign up. Thea was, of course, Ilya's girlfriend, and she got an extra boost of popularity from all the Cocoa-bo billboards with her image that have sprouted up all over the city. Cab and rideshare drivers were all itching to give the trio a tour of the place, but they have to politely decline, given they were waiting for Ilya, who himself will be doing the honors. It turns out they wouldn't be the only Yeezies on the tourr - Direwolf driver Ricky Lee, who gained a following thanks to all of those fanfics featuring him, was there too.

69X City was highly industrialized; the trio were reminded of Kardashia but with way more elevated roads. It was these very roads that the Race of Sonnel will be held on, closing them to traffic, of course. The rain poured mercilessly while the tour was going on, and for several days after (leading Jeremiah and Stacie to use umbrellas when going out, whereas Thea rocked a bright green raincoat whose hood was in the shape of a frog's head), but Saturday and Sunday were miraculously clear, and so neither the qualifying sessions nor the race itself had to be postponed.

The Stacemiah power couple followed up their 1-2 finish in Ramba by occupying the front row, with Thea not far behind them, starting sixth. Young Swell Kirby, who made a one-off appearance for GFR last season, qualified for his first ever race as a Cup Series full-timer, which the trio congratulated him on; Cocoabo #28 also made it in to give Team Tsunopin three cars in the event. As for the open charters, the first one went to Rockii Ezis. The journeyman driver was not able to use his usual #60, as it taken by Tyson Hoyt, so he flipped it to the #06 that was made available by Rinzi Aogar Zakhilwal after he went on to drive the #73 for Team Blue. The other was utilized by the egotistical Ronald Victor, which Thea was somewhat happy about, because that meant she didn't have to hear him rant about the league turning against him like he usually did whenever he failed to qualify.

Stacie was always eager to try out new track layouts, but once the Race of Sonnel started, she became frustrated at how much she struggled. Despite starting on pole, she didn't get to taste the lead, having been passed by multiple cars on the very first lap and failing to catch up to them. She also experienced steering issues, tire issues, but thankfully not anger issues - she understood that driving while mad makes one prone to make more ill-advised moves. She ultimately finished 24th, beaten to the line by Ilya. "If I hadn't been in control of my temper, I could have taken others or myself out and got a worse finish than that," Stacie would later joke at the post-race press conference.

Image

Thea was glad to receive some of the loudest cheers for a foreigner during driver introductions, but she also felt a lot of pressure - to conquer her boyfriend's home track, to prove that she's more than just a cute face in a restaurant billboard, and also to make it back to Chase and join her teammates, who both have already won and got in. Unlike Stacie, who remained cool as a Cocoabo despite being a non-factor all day, Thea got frustrated and made mistakes, kissing a wall here, executing a failed bump and run there. However, she also finished much better than Stacie at fifteenth, working with the driver who has become GFR's go to partner when no teammate was around, Valentine Z's very own Anastasia Aye. It was not a win, but Thea was no less grateful for the help, even having a chocolate cake (one of the perks of becoming the new face of Cocoa-bo) delivered to her tall blonde friend after the race.

Image

Jeremiah recorded GFR's only top ten of the day. It was a bit of an up and down race for him at the start, leading some laps but also finding himself in the mid-twenties at times. And then, running seventeenth with five laps to go, he went on a tear, riding Gwen Oxton's air all the way to a ninth place finish. "Am I fine with this? Well, yeah. Could I have gotten the win if the race had been a bit longer? Maybe.... but it probably wouldn't have been easy, what with those Jags up in front. Heck, dudes almost pulled off a podium sweep. They're on a tear this season, and I just know they'll be even more dangerous in the Chase. Definitely the ones to look out for. And then there's [Koshiro] Kawai. Dude just had everything going for him today, was definitely a threat when we both found ourselves up front. Congrats to him on the dub, must really be a sweet one not only because it's the first of his career and first for his team, but also because he went one versus three against those Jags and came out on top," Jeremiah told reporters.

Harrison looking to Repeat at the Ring

Racing Collectors 300, Lonngeylin Ring, Lonngeylin, Vilita :: Bryan Harrison and the #5 twii.tur Blue Services Dart team enter the race weekend at the Lonngeylin Ring with maximum confidence as they return to the site of their first victory as a unit one season ago during NSSCRA Season 12. It was there that the Newmanistani driver ended the NSSCRA's longest active winless streak and secured a spot in the NSSCRA Everlong Contenders Series Playoffs.

Fast forward one season and Harrison is once again in the thick of the battle for a playoff spot, currently holding down the last projected spot in the Everlong Contenders Series Playoffs with teammate Cocoabo #37 and defending series Runner-Up Rockii Ezis of Vilita and Turori Motorsports close behind.

Yet Harrison and the #5 team nearly got themselves a victory in the Stargaze Race 77 in what was nearly a perfect race weekend for the team. Harrison was fast all weekend long and took pole position with no other driver even close to topping the time put down by the Newmanistani driver. Unfortunately for the team, a jammed lug on the second pitstop cost the team precious seconds on pit road and cost Harrison track position, falling back to 9th place. The speed Harrison showed all weekend long quickly propelled them back into the Top 5 but Vilita and Turori Motorsports driver Lotara Novorali in the Visit TI / Arcticala Inlet Dart took full advantage, pulling away just far enough that Harrison could not catch them before the checkered flag.

It was a bittersweet runner-up finish for Harrison - a massive confidence boost for the #5 team and it couldn't come at a better time as the team returns to a track they know they can win at in Vilita before a home race at the Tropicoast Beach Course.

While Harrison looks to take hold of the 16th and final playoff position, teammate Jixaka Motorai is once again proving why she was rumored to be close to securing a ride in the NSSCRA Multiversal Cup Series for NSSCRA Season 13. For the second consecutive season, Motorai is Team Tropicorps most consistent driver. While she took a hit with a 20th place drop off in Sonnel, Motorai remains just 30 points behind Alex Remington in the battle for the Regular Season title in the Everlong Series.

Most of the Sherpalanders were not very enthusiastic about going to Sonnel. Traveling around the world was one thing; traveling to other worlds was something else.

It didn't help that 69X's home team, Team Tsunopin, had two creeptastic men and two ugly alien creatures on their roster of drivers. It was true that one of the creeptastic men was a Sherpalander, but it seemed like Anjiao Wang had only gotten creepier since he met Ilya. Or maybe it was coming into money that made the difference. All they knew was that in the old days, when Wang was a regular working class guy trying to make a name for himself at the Guiyang Racing Club, he had been more restrained. He had been weirdly fascinated with Kai Qiang ever since Qiang's first appearance in NSSCRA, but he had not been so aggressive about it.

The unconventional track design and the fact that the weather forecast predicted a chance of rain also did not help.

Rinzi Zakhilwal thought the trip to Sonnel was just another new adventure, but Qiang, Chu, Zhu, and most of their staff planned to arrive right before they were due on the track for their first practice and leave for Lonngeylin as soon as possible when the Race of Sonnel was over. Qiang had occasionally had bad experiences in Vilita, but except for the Iguana Incident, those bad experiences were usually caused by his own clumsy driving -- so he still felt much safer and more relaxed in Vilita than he did in 69X. Guangxi Territory and Vilita were both tropical enough to grow many of the same foods, and even if they did not always cook them exactly the same way, there was still enough in common to be comforting.

Aside from Rinzi with his irrepressible sense of adventure, there was one other Sherpalander who was looking forward to visiting Sonnel: When Cammy Qiang found out they would be traveling through Drawkland, she went berserk. She was literally jumping with excitement as she peppered her parents with rapid-fire questions about the trip. Would they be able to see drawks in the wild? Would they be able to see bigger ones that you couldn't find at the zoo in Guilin? Could she buy one to bring home as a pet?

Qiang was getting a little tired of his daughter's fascination with drawks. He dragged his hand across his face in a gesture of exasperation, then, doing his best to keep his tone calm and friendly, he asked Mendok if she was interested in taking the girls on tour of Drawkland instead of coming to 69X. "I don't really want to bring the girls to 69X anyway," he said.

Cammy bounced excitedly and threw her arms around Mendok's legs. "Can we see the drawks? Can we? Can we? Can we?"

Mendok looked at her with a slightly bemused expression and thought about it for a moment. "Okay. So, like, where do you go to see drawks? Do they have tourist ranches or something?"

"I'm sure you guys can find something," said Qiang.

The weekend in 69X could have gone better, but it also could have gone worse. Qiang and Tsering spent pretty much the whole time avoiding the locals. They bought food they could eat in private spaces with just each other or maybe some people from their crews, and they did the bare minimum of public appearances at the track.

The race was not the easiest driving they had ever done, but they got through it without any major disasters. They certainly fared better than poor Shark Suzgar, who asked to be taken out of his car mid-race because he was not feeling good. After the race, Qiang, Tsering, and Zhu would all stop by to see how Suzgar was doing and make sure he was okay. None of them were that close to the Vilitan driver, but they still respected him as one of NSSCRA's long-time veterans.

Qiang and Tsering planned to meet up with Mendok and the girls in Drawk City and then they would all travel together from there to Lonngeylin. However, they were NOT planning to meet up with a rambunctious baby drawk, which they would then have to bring through Newmanistanian and Vilitan border security on their way to Lonngeylin. "What the fuck! Why on Earth would you buy a drawk without even asking me?" Qiang demanded.

"Well, you already told Cammy she could have one later this year," said Mendok. "I don't see why it makes a difference to get it a month or two sooner."

"His name is Drawkii Ezis!" Cammy announced proudly.

Drawkii Ezis was too small to be dangerous because he was a small breed and he was not fully grown -- but he was still a poorly trained animal. He chewed on Qiang's pants. He begged to be petted and held when Qiang and Tsering were trying to fill out their customs paperwork. He headbutted a pen out of Tsering's hand when she was filling out a declaration form. He stole one of Sima's socks. He got his claws snagged in the embroidery on Mendok's handbag and flapped around wildly when she tried free him. When they put him in a carrier to keep him out of trouble, he scrabbled at the door and whimpered to be let out. Cammy let him out of the carrier in Tundra Falls and Qiang had to chase him around the airport.

The only part of it that wasn't a farce and a disaster: at least Mendok had gotten veterinary medical records to prove that the drawk was not carrying any loathsome diseases. That made things easier when they had to talk to border control or airport security.

Ilya Tsunopin and Drake Stevenson, the night before the race

Ilya Tsunopin was happy to come out of the qualifying session at five in the evening. The hometown boy indeed was more than happy to just complete his necessary tasks as a driver early, especially considering all the off-tracks him and the fellow members of Team Tsunopin had to go through.

If anything, there was that one advantage he had in being at his home turf of 69X, where he had grown up for first 18 years of his life and would split his time living there and Kardashia, Saint-Kanye. But even more so did he, after all the frustrations he’s had under the wheel after a strong star, want to go out and have some fun in the famed nightlife circuit of this city. After all, when you are the most famous motorsports driver the citystate had produced in recent memory, it does get a bit easier for you to just let it go and worry less about possible consequences - as long as they were not criminal.

So Ilya and the crew, both motivated to put out a good show in their hometown, would put a decent, if a bit unceremonious, runs on the qualifying and Everlong Rounds, where Wang ‘the next generation fighter’ Anjiao had finished the highest on Everlong with 22nd place, before deciding to go out.

And for Ilya, this had meant that he would actually get to spend some time with one of his idols, Drake Stevenson. While his Team Tsunopin friends would hang out with them a bit more, and Thea Alvarez, his legendary driver girlfriend of the Gale Force fame, were able to meet with Ilya’s parents for the first time, Ilya knew that his friend, who had been going through some chase on various dating apps, were feeling down, even if he did not show it with his strong form lately on the Multiversal Circuit. So he, being a good-mannered, optimistic man, wanted to comfort his friend with a good night out.

‘Hey Drake,’ called Ilya on the phone, as he just emerged out of the post-Day 1 team meeting. ‘It’s me, Ilya Tsunopin. Is all well?’

Drake would respond with a slight mix of hesitation. ‘Yea, good start but you know, there’s still one more night until the actual race and the driving condition’s not one bit easy here. What about you?’ Drake asked on the other side of phone.

‘I feel you mate. I’ve raced on that circuit about three-hundred times but still find it hard to go. I’m just happy Cocoabo #28 and Swole made it because they haven’t been having an easy time lately, and also because it does feel new with all the new nettings and safety installations.’ answered Ilya. ‘At least it must be feeling good about being out on front right? With Jeremiah and Stacie?’

‘Absolutely, joly good fellas who I’ve competed against many times, and will continue to do so for many more.’ Drake responded, before asking, ‘You, in the meanwhile, better get up there. And stop writing those drawkfiction stuff man. God, you now have them as your sponsors but…’
‘I mean, you know my love for you as a fan remains unparalleled, Drake.’ Ilya answered. It was then that he remembered to send his idol an invite. ‘And as a fan, I have a moral duty for you to come join me at the Mssr. Balotelli’s Lounge. The finest of the VIP club where you will have a good night, chat a bit and just…let go. And if you don’t want to let go, that’s fine. No pressure.’

‘I will have a think about it.’ said Drake.

‘Drake, I know that it hasn’t been easy for you since the breakup.’ Ilya added. ‘But you know, sometimes, you just gotta not worry about the weight of the world you carry. You have already done wonders for millions of fans out there. Heck, even one of them is now racing with you.’

He then took a breath and continued to speaking again. ‘So please, please. Come join me at the Mssr. Balotelli’s Lounge at eight tonight. As it’s the case here in 69X, and more prominently Juvencus and Quebec, we really start turning up at one-am and go until six. Have a think about it.’

Then he hung up the phone.
<Ilya Tsunopin> I LOVE YOU KAI QIANG

Some of the French crewmen were apprehensive about taking the portal to Sonnel. After all, their last experience with an interdimensional portal had been pretty bad. But Murat exhorted them to be brave, Massena urged them to think about what a great story it would make when they came home, and Lannes reminded them that many other people had already used the portal since it was first installed. Eventually, everyone was coaxed into going. The ones who were still afraid got guilt tripped into hiding their fears and going along so they wouldn't look like cowards.

Once they arrived in 69X City, all their fears melted away. It wasn't home, but it was still pretty slick. The pervasive haute couture fashion scene reminded them a little of the alternate Paris they had visited last year.

Unfortunately Lannes and Massena both indulged a little too heavily enjoying the local nightlife, and neither of them had fully slept it off yet by the time their officers woke them to get ready for qualifying. Their lack of driving experience also hurt them on the technically-challenging course. They had very limited driving experience outside of NSSCRA, and much of their racing experience in NSSCRA was on ovals where they did not have to cope with such a variety of turns and road conditions.

Since they had nothing else to do, no race to worry about, Lannes and Massena went out for another night on the town and took most of their crews with them. But Murat, Leujouje, and the #61 crew were left behind at the track. Murat's crew was making sure they had everything prepared for the race, and Murat was studying the track, trying to figure out how he was going to handle racing on it. He had not done much better than his countrymen in qualifying, but since he had a full-time charter, he would be in the race -- and he wanted not to embarrass himself.

While Murat walked around the track, trying to figure out what the fuck he was going to do tomorrow, a Jouoangquoirais mechanic from the #61 crew sat with Leujouje and they chatted in their own language. They talked about things they missed from back home in the Pearl Kingdom, what they thought of the French, what they thought of the different countries they had traveled to. Leujouje vented some of her frustrations about the way Massena had treated her, and she mentioned how Drake's dating profile had piqued her curiosity -- but she wasn't sure what to do about it. She was embarrassed about how bad her English was, and she wasn't confident about creating her own PartnerMeet profile since her written English was not any better than spoken.

The mechanic put his hand over hers and smiled at her in a way that he hoped came across as sympathetic and not creepy. "If you want to reach a man's heart, the best way is to just talk to him," he said. "You don't need a computer or an app or a profile or any of that. Just talk and tell him how you feel."

He looked down at their intertwined fingers, and in the back of his mind, the mechanic secretly hoped Leujouje might change her mind about Drake and fall for him instead. The thought of raising another man's child wasn't that appealing, and the risk of offending Massena by stealing his woman was not appealing either, but he still felt an undeniable attraction when he looked in Leujouje's pretty face or felt the softness of her skin or heard the gentle sound of her voice.

Leujouje did not work up the nerve to talk to Drake while they were in 69X, but one morning before practice at the Lonngeylin Ring, she left Leumonree with one of Massena's staff officers and went to talk to Drake. She found him taking in a view of the track. He looked a bit lost in thought, like he was getting the lay of the land or getting a feel for the day's weather. "Hello Drake," she said in halting accented English. "I heard you are looking for someone new since Taylor... you know." She could not find the right words, so she made a gesture suggesting that Taylor had gone nuts. "I wondered if you want to go with me on a date."

The Valentians – Race 10 – Main Series: The Race Of Sonnel, Circuit of the Sonnelites, 69X City, Sixty-ninE X (Road Course); Everlong: Stargaze Race 77, Circuit of the Sonnelites, 69X City, Sixty-ninE X (Road Course)

2nd Cpt. Annabelle Grace Whitney Zoey Luminisa “Femeia Simțurilor Extraordinare” Claire Estevi Danielle Tricia Kate Carrie Kora Costiniu Frumoasa Emiliana Georgeta Melanie Ioannes Corinna walked into the Valentian ship, her size making sure that everyone noticed her as soon as she stepped in. It was not that the Valentians have any problems with her being around. In actuality, they adore her for her resolve, along with her role as a big sister for many of the people around her. Rather, it was simply the fact that it has been a while since they have last seen Annabelle, seeing how she was busy with her own things. Standing more than 25 feet tall, she looked around and gave the other Valentians a smile – at least, one that she could try her best to muster up. AOCAR has been very tiring for her, racing with not a lot of weight to her name, and either having many laps down, DNFs, and just the very mediocre performance all-around. There were saving races here and there, but they are so far countable on a single hand. Adrian, her racing partner, was also not having a lot of luck of his own. With a bit of a shrug, Annabelle walked to the minibar and fixed herself a non-alcoholic drink – a fizzy mixed berries drink of sort that she fancies all the time. She observed once again, looking at the other Valentians both on the TV and also by listening into the conversations that the others are having. In particular, Clarissa Alanis Star Samantha and Gwen Tracer Allison Oxton have had a decent race, finishing 6th and 8th respectively while also helping another non-Valentian driver. Anastasia Freya Yadana Aye might have possibly done the same, judging by a generous amount of cake that she was eating with a fork, along with a piece of note and an unraveled ribbon beside her. Clarissa was humming to herself happily as she was dusting off some parts of the ship. Annabelle wasn’t jealous, more of simple envy – she was happy for her friends in the other race events, but she simply hoped that she would be able to get better results for AOCAR too.

She walked around the track and then around the city that night, perhaps hoping that this would ease her mind off from the race, and to find something worthwhile around the area. The Valentians are naturally curious people, but they do understand the limits of making sure that they are not sticking their noses too much. In essence, they are adventurous and likes to explore around, but will not (for the most parts, anyway) think twice about intruding into someone’s place if someone told them specifically not to go or pursue. Going back to Annabelle specifically, Vilita has proven to be quite a place for her to explore, and she was enjoying every second of it. She tried the cuisine, a particular set of foods that are fried, and many more along the way. “Maybe I will just work and sweat it out another time,” she thought to herself, bringing a couple of her own food, particularly a bunch of oversized vegetables and pieces of frozen meat to the vendor who promises that they will fry anything that the customers bring in, the name of the vendor being "We'll Fry It", true to its name. The concept of fried vegetables isn’t really a new and out of the norm thing, but it is still a bit unusual to see things like carrots, cabbages, and tomatoes being fried. Annabelle also brought in a fruit or two, and after it was all done, she took a bite out of the fried red apple. It was a bit crunchier than usual, with the grease and fried skin making for a strange yet tasty sensation. She could feel the guilt from the fried food, but she told herself that she will exercise it later in-between the race sessions. For the time being, all she wanted to do at that moment was to have some of the food that the vendors have to offer, or to give to let them cook the food, followed by looking around at the souvenirs. She simply wanted a bit of enjoyment out of all of it.

As she was looking around, Annabelle knew that she was not going to blend in, what with her height and everything. The Valentians only shrink down in the race cars, and thus outside of the race, they are going to stick out very well. As a result, most people around were aware that she is a Valentian, just perhaps not someone that they have seen as frequently as before. Still, there are a couple of people who have taken quite an interest in the Valentians in a non-creepy manner, in the sense that they know more about them than the other folks outside of Valentine Z. Case in point, a relatively young boy approached Annabelle, ice-cream in one hand, and what is presumed to be the cone being the handywork of the We’ll Fry It guys. Annabelle smiled and literally looked down at the kid, “Hello there! Hmm, what can I do for you?” The kid was in a bit of awe before replying back, “Hiii, Miss! Are you Miss Anna, from the AOCAR series? My uncle told me a lot about you!” She was surprised that someone knows about her and approaches her. Then again, she has been racing for 2 seasons, so she too has some fans of her own. “Why, yes I am! Thank you. Err, I mean, I am in it, but you know, not very good at it so far. I do just wish that I can drive better, though,” the kid simply listened to her with an occasional nod here and there. Annabelle continued on, “Still, I do appreciate the thought and you and your uncle knowing about my endeavors. I hope I can a win some day, you know?” He nodded with a smile, followed by some meaningful and sweet words for her, “You will do great, Ms. Anna! My uncle told me it can be difficult at first, but you will make it one day!” As they struck conversation for a few minutes, a man in his 30s approached Annabelle and the kid, who then identified as the latter’s uncle. “Hey, there! Ahh, you must be Annabelle from Valentine Z! Can tell pretty well, hehe. So I guess you two are talking for some time now and- … well, hey, don’t worry about it, all right? I know you have had a fair bit of blunders recently, and we aren’t some fair-weathered folks that will leave you as soon as you fumbled! I am getting ahead of myself, sorry.” Annabelle replied and nodded with a smile, “No no, it’s okay. Thank you for your kind words, though. I just hope I can do better as well. I could use a break, you know?” “Yeah, we get you. Hey, we will be cheering for you all the way. See you race at Yutzie River Raceway soon!” And with that, they left. And for that moment, Annabelle felt a very special kind of warmness in her heart. She along with Adrian have rarely interacted with the fans and the other people around her. They took up AOCAR as a side hustle, but as with any other Valentians, they will make sure that they will do well. And with the more positive fan interactions, like the one that she just had, Annabelle felt a little bit stronger and confident that she just might be able to pull it off. For now, of course, all she wanted was some good food.

The Gardeners – Race 10 – Main Series: The Race Of Sonnel, Circuit of the Sonnelites, 69X City, Sixty-ninE X (Road Course); Everlong: Stargaze Race 77, Circuit of the Sonnelites, 69X City, Sixty-ninE X (Road Course)

Vice Foresittend Jolyn Maxine Caulfield Moira “Неуловимая, Женщина-шпион” Marlene Wendy Lucille Lapis Jill Khorosheva Vin. Zolina łnt. Natasha Vasilisa Helen Ceeta Tescelyn Maximovna not only got into the race this time, but she was very happy with the ending placement that she got. 14th wasn’t particularly noteworthy for those who are gunning for the better placements, but considering her recently record that she was all too very aware about, it was something that she would take. On top of that, she finally learned of the dynamics that Anastasia and the drivers from Saint Kanye were going for, and she figured that she would join in, seeing no harm in that. With Thea in front of Anastasia who in turn was pushing her, Jolyn radioed in to Anastasia that she would help the two out as well, to break through the cars in front of her while they streamline behind. It worked well for them to gain few more positions, but at the end of the day, it would be TJUN-ia’s Jaguars who got the long end of the stick. Placing 2nd, 3rd, and 4th respectively, all of the Valentians cheered hard and loud for them, with Jolyn immediately noticing the closeness of it all. “They are nearly going to get the triple podium! Ahh, to think they could have gotten the $600 million from us!” she remarked, with Anastasia and Thea beside her, giving each other a small hug and handshakes, whichever that they fancy. “Kind of a good break from all the teaching stuff too, once in a while,” Jolyn further remarked, checking up on the notifications on her phone before keeping it away. She was happy with the idea that she is doing this as a part time gig, and with quite a handful of qualifications where she didn’t make it in, it has made it all the while easier for her to focus on her main job. Still, with capable and numerous teaching force in Valentine Z, along with the generous working hours, Jolyn was able to enjoy and make sure she is not falling behind too much as she was able to qualify more for the races. She’s also not envious about how she could’ve won in the #15.

In her own room – a small little lounge that she fancied and found herself cozy in, Jolyn lied down on the bed, already in her usual clothes as she sent her firesuit to be cleaned up. She checked on her phone, particular in Twii.tur about how there has been a lot of things happening lately. Ronald Victor is still more or less active and going, but she along with the other Valentians often try to stay out of the politics of other countries and people. They don’t tend to join in unless they get involved, or they would mostly do some friendly interactions. Then there was the incident with Taylor and a cameraman, which reminded Jolyn of one of her own friends that could use a bit of care, namely one Head Diplomat Charlene. “Still, she should be able to take care of herself,” Jolyn thought, then turning off the phone and lying on the bed, perhaps dreaming of the better finishes and races that she will get in future.

You know that things are getting serious when we're doing Qualifying on a Friday Night. Welcome to the famous Lonngeylin Ring in Vilita, a short track with a long history of hosting quality races from the very best people this sport has to offer. The famous 1/3 mile course may be simple in its design but just like any short track, it can certainly pack a punch when it wants. This weekend has always been special due to its' unique format as both Qualifying and the T2 Racing Collectibles 300 are on Friday, the main event Toys '4' All 500 is a Saturday Night affair before some head out to the Yutzie River Speedway in Vilisorma for the famous Vilaye Clash invitational. With all of that in mind and 5 races left in the regular season after this weekend, let's see what this famous track can produce for us all this time.

Cup Series Qualifying was certainly chaotic, as everyone was separated by only 2.7 seconds, and you better believe that tight margins produce a bit of a chaotic grid. How chaotic? Well, Maddison Riley-Jones (@MaddyRJ03) came from almost fucking nowhere to make the Clash on Sunday by Qualifying on pole over Lam Chow-Cheung and Wilma von Cärinthen. Yes, Maddy and Lam are starting on the front row. Welcome to Vilita. The boys, on the other hand, were certainly in the thick of it with Alfonso Mercado (@AM64) qualifying in P16 and Michael Stefan (@Stefan07) having some work to do from P32. Aurélia Karvonen made it into her 3rd race on the bounce in P21 with her fellow qualifiers being Sage Caldwell (P15), Taylor Henderson (P17), Cocoabo #28 (P20), Jolyn Maxine Caulfield Ceeta (P24), Swell Kirby (P27), Rustam Ilyich Yudin (P34) and Anna Star Joy Thanda Pwint Thinzar Nwe (P37). Even the open-charters were mixed up as T2 driver Lotara Novorali managed to qualify in P9 for this race while our very own Lane Carter (@LCarter11), the WGPC driver racing in the Race Eelandii! #77 car, will start his debut NSSCRA race in P40. My advice to the open-wheeler? Good luck and try to get home safely!

Meanwhile, the EverLong Contenders Series rolled on to its 11th round with a salvo filled with the expected drama you get with the Battle for the Chase. Lotara Novorali took the pole (adding to her Cup P9) over Pyotr Lavrentiev and Jixaka Motorai with Robin Dragonovic in P8, Gongming Gao (@GG70) in P23, Kaarina Salo in P24, Ilmari Pëkannen in P25 and Alice Jepkosgei down in P28. The race itself saw 5 retirements but this Friday Night Showdown went to Rockii Ezis, who beat both Cocoabo #37 and an SSS 3-4-5 led by Daryl Calhoun to become the 2nd T2 driver outside the Top 16 in points to book his ticket into the Chase. AJ bounced back to take a remarkable P6, Robin was P11, Gao in P13, Salo in P14 and Ilmari ended up in P27. With 5 races to go, the Top 16 may not guarantee you a spot in the Chase anymore and that uncertainty should certainly bring about chaos in the weeks to come.

Saturday Night's Main Event will see 5 TJUN-ians across 3 teams start across the grid, a feat unseen in our nation's motorsports history. Another Chase spot may be decided under the lights...but who will claim this holy grail? Only time will tell, but two TJUN-ians start on the front row for (I think) the first time in NSSCRA Cup Series history. That fact should make things interesting as it is.

69X City, Sixty-ninE X
The night before the Race of the Sonnelites

Drake Stevenson was a little bit leery of Ilya Tsunopin’s invitation to go to Mssr. Balotelli’s Lounge in 69X, but he figured it would be worth a chance to do something different for the weekend, and maybe he could get to know Ilya a little more, maybe try to understand why he operates the way he does. After all, Ilya was one hell of a character, and was certainly a lot different from other people he had known. So Drake, after giving it some thought, texted Ilya and let him know that he would join him at Mssr. Balotelli’s Lounge.

“You lead the way, Tsunopin,” Drake texted him. “I think you know what to do a lot more than I do.”

Lonngeylin Ring, Lonngeylin, Vilita
The weekend of the Toys '4' All 500

It wasn’t often that Drake Stevenson could get a moment at the track to himself. Half the time he was out of the Team Blue Center, he would get pestered by fans for autographs or selfies – and those were nice, because it was nice to be recognized, but it was also nice to have some alone time at a race track. And lord knows he needed it. The PartnerMeet experiment was not going well. He had gotten some messages from people he was genuinely interested in, but many of them were either spambots or people he figured was trying to pull a prank on him.

One of those people he spotted was a “professional dancer” named “Victoria.” As Drake looked at her profile in his motorcoach in Vilita, he was a little unsure of her as he didn’t necessarily want to date someone that was a professional dancer or someone who was a regular at clubs. To him, she sounded way too much like Liangmei Li, someone Drake had no interest whatsoever in. But she seemed somewhat decent, and for a second, Drake figured he’d give this Victoria a message. That was until he saw what kind of pets she had – one iguana.

“God damn it… HOLMES?!” Drake shouted as he closed his laptop and made his way to the Team Blue Center.

When he got to the Team Blue Center, Chris was in the middle of a serious conversation with crew chief Lawrence Malloy and driver coach Frank Bronson concerning the right line around the tiny Lonngeylin Ring, and the way the car was handling about that proper line. They looked over towards the entrance as Drake burst in. They wondered what was going on as Drake shook his head as he stared at his teammate.

“Holmes, you want to tell me who the fuck Victoria is?” Drake asked.

“Victoria?” Chris asked, genuinely unsure what Drake was talking about. “I knew a Victoria in high school but I haven’t spoken to her in years.”

“Don’t play stupid with me,” Drake responded. “This dating profile right here, has this lady dressed… is that an exotic dancer?”

Chris took a look at the profile and started chuckling. In fact, he exploded with laughter when he saw who the picture was of.

“Stevenson, I think that’s Kai Qiang in drag,” Chris chortled. “I didn’t know that picture existed, but… damn!”

“Explain to me the iguana,” Drake said, with a nonplussed look on his face.

“Oh, hell, I didn’t see that,” Chris replied. “No, that’s not me, I can’t joke about that. At least, not now.”

Drake, potentially missing the point, never figured it was the third driver at Team Blue, Rinzi Zakhilwal, trying to pull one on his teammate. While not figuring that Rinzi was to blame, Drake decided he was going to get revenge. He was going to put that picture on flyers around the race track and put someone’s phone number on it. And he was just about to get Qiang’s phone number before figuring that Qiang probably wanted nothing to do with whatever hijinks were going on at Team Blue. So he decided against putting Qiang’s number on the flyer.

And then, for a fleeting second, he thought about putting Taylor Henderson’s phone number on the flyer. But all had not been well with her lately, and he figured that right now, putting her phone number on a flyer that would be put all over the Lonngeylin Ring would the equivalent of kicking someone when they were down. So he decided not to put Taylor’s number on the flyer. And then, just then, he saw Rinzi behaving a little off. Drake stared at him for a while, and then put two and two together.

So that night, as thousands of flyers, featuring the picture of Kai Qiang in drag and Rinzi Zakhilwal’s phone number, were hung up all over the track’s grounds – in the concession stands, around the stands, in the bathrooms, in the infield, near the haulers, everywhere – Drake was enjoying a quiet moment to himself. An attractive woman, who looked and sounded from another land, walked up to him.

"Hello Drake," said Leujouje, the attractive woman. "I heard you are looking for someone new since Taylor... you know."

Drake looked over towards her and watched as she made a gesture implying Taylor Henderson had gone crazy. Which she had.

"I wondered if you want to go with me on a date," Leujouje said.

Drake smiled and nodded his head at her.

“You seem cool,” Drake said as he nodded his head. “Sit here next to me, let’s hang out. Tell me a little about yourself and what you do in this world. I see you all over the tracks, but I don’t know you all that well. Let’s change that.”

Perjantai/星期五 (Friday)

Postby Kimi-Suomi » Sun Oct 09, 2022 2:38 pm

The NSSCRA battles are beginning to hot up and the circus continues as everyone made their way to Vilita for the action at the infamous Lonngeylin Ring. Instead of the usual weekend slots, the action here will take place on Friday and Saturday due to the Vilaye Clash happening on Sunday up the road in Vilisorma. That was probably the last of everyone's concerns at HM...but how was everyone feeling as the Battle for the Chase continued to boil?

T2
Down the EverLong, things have certainly changed to a point that "Vaihto" was about to be made. Over the past few races, Ilmari Pëkannen hasn't been doing as good as his hot start suggested while Kaarina Salo has been getting better as the season's gone on thanks in part to her 2 wins on the board. This race here in Vilita, the Racing Collectibles 300, would be the final straw as Ilmari could only convert P25 into P27 while Salo started one place ahead in P24 but managed a good race to finish up in P14. This meant that, for the first time in a long while, Salo leads Pëkannen in the overall standings with both the HMT2 pair finding themselves in the Top 10.

The fact that this swap even happened was certainly something that was discussed in the post-race team meeting but to Ilmari's credit, he didn't seem too annoyed at this at all. He still felt like his destiny was still in his hands no matter what...even if his father's critiques were getting harsher and harsher by the week. Salo, on the other hand, was fully committed to the idea of trying break into the Chase Top 12, father than Ilmari managed last season, and she certainly felt like she was one to watch in the races to come. Certainly some interesting times at HMT2.

AK
Meanwhile, the Vuohi was starting to feel more and more confident in her machine and in her abilities as the post-shuffle season has gone on. P28 one week, P13 the next and now, she would be starting Saturday Night from P21. Missing out on a charter was supposed to be a demoralising event but for Aurélia Karvonen, it was a message that she needed to be better and she certainly has been thus far. She herself certainly feels that she has gotten better since the charter-swap was announced...and even though LCC is pulling out some magic, she's certainly feeling like she's getting closer to that kid.

The Pomo was certainly happy with that performance from two weeks ago, as he was for the performance at Tibet before that. He even gave her a rare hug...something which shook her more than she realised in the moment. In her eyes, the Pomo is keeping whatever's inside of him very close...perhaps too close. How could she get it out of him? Does she even want it out of him? Mitä vittua on tekeillä? The questions flowing around her brain...they have to be still when the green flag arrives.

LCC
After a relatively quiet race over in 69X, Lam Chow-Cheung was ready to try and get back into the conversation for a spot in what would be a debut Chase for the masked enby. The amount of support they received over in the land of Ilya Tsunopin was enough to send a few goosebumps onto their bare skin and while they could only manage P21 on the street two weeks ago, they certainly felt like many in that crowd were cheering their name and that was satisfying in itself.

On this Friday night, some energy was certainly produced from that #38 car that would shock a lot of people across the paddock and the community. Lam knew that short track racing had a habit of producing sacky results whenever it wanted but what happened here would end up surprising to even them. Maddison Riley-Jones had set the pace by the time the #38 came out onto the track and while that was certainly a marker to try and catch, but the pace they had in the #38 was certainly remarkable enough to end up beating beer buddy Wilma von Cärinthen to 2nd - a position that would hold. Maddy and LCC in a TJUN-ian 1-2, with Wilma in P3. That was certainly a Top 3 to celebrate and Lam was certainly happy about their best ever qualifying performance...as were HM, of course. But when they tried to pinpoint, later that night, what may have pushed them towards that spectacular position on the grid, only one thought came to mind. Or, more accurately, one person.
TG: Hey Lam, can I tell you something?
LCC: of course
TG: I think you are my favourite friend.
LCC:  R-really?
TG: Yeah. Yeah, you are. Thank you for being there for me, you know? :)
LCC: No worries, mate. No worries.

TG: So LamLam is OK?
LCC: Yeah, I'm cool with it.
TG: Cool...then good luck this weekend, LamLam!
LCC: Thx! :p

Tshering Gyeltshen. That remark he made about Lam being his "favourite friend" had certainly caught them off guard that night and now, it was back to haunt their attempts to sleep. What had Tshering meant by a "favourite friend"? That wasn't a concept LCC was entirely familiar with, especially given their...past as an outcast. Was it just another word for a "best friend", a friend that Tshering could seriously trust? Was it just him stating his preference for Lam as a friend...or as something else entirely? How far did this preference go? Was it just like this or did it run dee-

No, Lam. Stop. Don't get carried away like that. It's not *like that* at all. Tshering is your friend. That is all. So many questions, yet so little time to answer them. The meet up will be soon, back in TJUN-ia. Maybe there, things will become clearer. Maybe.

Despite driving for a team from one of the most capitalist countries NSSCRA member countries in St. Kanye, the Gale Force Racing trio do not hold any strong opinions against (or for) conmunism or anyone who adheres to it. They treat political ideologies the same way as things like religion or gender preference, being generally okay with people differing with regards to that matter, as long as it is not forced onto them. Ronald Victor, the Kerthenian rookie, was different though. He hated failing, which was reasonable, but also communists, which was.... really not. It would be a way different matter indeed if reds actually were sabotaging poor Ronnie's qualifying efforts week after week, but no, there was no one to blame for missing the field but himself.

UrGa, the Pridnestrovian team fielding Fleftic drivers, will be running special schemes at the Lonngeylin Ring to commemorate the anniversary of their parent company. While a good gesture, some race fans believed that the primarily red and green cars will (or are meant to) get a reaction out of Ronald Victor, who will likely take one glance and assume that the team is promoting the ideology of the Prids, which is, you guessed it, communism. The GFR trio too decided to have a little fun on Ronnie's expense, sitting close but not directly next to him during the driver meeting and making this exchange:

Jeremiah Brooke: Did you guys see the UrGa cars for this race?
Thea Alvarez: Oh yeah, those. Never thought red and green would work good together, but here we are.
Stacie Houston: Looks a little.... shall we say.... communist tho?
JB: At first glance, sure, but you can't really fault a Prid company for using Prid colors as their own colors, can't you?
SH: Oh yeah, yeah, and then there's that big UrGa text on the sides and hood, right?
JB: Yup, can't miss that.
TA: Anyone with more than two brain cells would know that it's an UrGa scheme, not a communist scheme, don't you think?
SH: Sure, and besides, political schemes are banned by the league, aren't they? So even if it was a commie scheme, it won't fly.
TA: I wonder though, what would a capitalist scheme look like?
JB: Like every scheme in the series that has at least one sponsor logo on it, duh.
TA: But yeah, I like the UrGa schemes.
JB: Me too.
TA: They should run it, like, every race.
JB: Agreed.
SH: Well, they kinda do, just separated.... you know how Wilma's primary car is red and Rustam's is green?
TA: The commie duo! (she fingerquotes to show that she doesn't really think the two are communist)
JB: I wouldn't hate them if they were commies though. Coexist and all that.
SH: Me neither. Differing political views is a silly reason to hate someone.
TA: Agreed.

Rinzi Zakhilwal occasionally got weird phone calls from scammers, charities, politicians, fans who had managed to find his number somewhere, etc. -- but it was not normal to get several calls in one day. When he came in from practice, Tashi told him his phone had rang multiple times. Another call interrupted his afternoon prayers. Rinzi did not understand what was going on. Why was he getting so many calls, and why were so many of them coming from strange men apparently looking for dates? Usually at least half the unsolicited calls Rinzi got were people looking for money in one way or another, and many others were asking him if he was available for publicity events.

As Rinzi was getting ready to go to dinner with Tashi and his crew chief, his phone rang again. Another unfamiliar number, another weirdo who started the conversation with "Hey, babe." "What is with these calls?" Rinzi asked of no one in particular. He was not expecting an answer, but he got one...

Kai Qiang came bursting through a nearby door with a rolled up paper in his hand and a look on his face like he was ready to beat the shit out of someone. "RINZI, WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS???"

Rinzi looked around confused. "Qiang? What?"

Qiang thrust the paper in Rinzi's face. "You want to explain why these are all over the track?"

"I...uh...huh?" Rinzi took the paper and racked his brains trying to figure out what the hell was going on. "So THAT'S why I'm getting all these weird phone calls!"

"Yeah, so why is this shit all over the track?" Qiang demanded, still obviously furious.

"I don't know," said Rinzi. "I did not put them up."

Qiang wasn't buying it. "Oh, come on! It's obviously some kind of Team Blue bullshit!"

"Rinzi, you know where Drake got that picture," Tashi said softly. "I think you owe Qiang an apology."

"I... Ohhh!" Rinzi finally connected the dots and pieced together what had happened. He slumped sheepishly and said, "Uh, yeah, you are right. It was a joke that got out of hand. I am sorry, Qiang. I should not have dragged you into it."

Qiang grabbed the front of Rinzi's shirt and shoved him against the wall, obviously not appeased by the apology. "You're lucky I'm not strong enough to snap your stupid neck!"

Tashi rested her hand gently on Qiang's shoulder. "Qiang, please..."

He wheeled around to face her, about to go right on ranting and raging, but then he saw who he was facing -- the pretty jewerly, the delicate face, the long braided hair, the loose maternity dress hiding her figure -- and he realized he was not mad at Tashi.

"Your husband is an idiot!" Qiang said.

"Yes, he is," said Tashi.

Qiang allowed Tashi to turn him around and send him away, but he was still obviously ticked off.

After dinner when Rinzi returned to the track, he also apologized to Drake.

Oontaz Dert Li Ng wrote:It was perhaps no secret at all that Ronald Victor maybe did not deserve to be in the NationStates Stock Car Racing Association.

The Race of the Sonnel

The group of fans, originally Kerthenian fans, but joined by some others from other nations, waited eagerly for the race to get under way. Each had managed to sneak in a radio set that could broadcast on the frequencies used in NSSCRA, and each had a list of the ones the Victor Enterprises team would be using that day. They did not have to wait all that long, relatively speaking.

As soon as the signal was given, the Kerthenian fans began their prank, at first just giving helpful warnings to see if Victor would notice the new voices. When he didn't (and, in fact, chewed out his spotter for "screwing around" when she told the fans to clear the line), they began their prank in earnest, whispering Labor Party slogans, communist talking points, and, in the case of one particularly ballsy fan, belting out the Kruolan national anthem in that special tuneless way that only a drunken mess can produce. As the spotter kept having Victor change frequencies, the fans followed them down the list, not letting up until track security started looking for them. Well, the sober ones, at least. Several drunks did not let up, and got kicked out without a refund.

One of the first people to congratulate Koshiro Kawai on his incredible upset win was Sage Caldwell. Sure, the dreadlocked Yeezie truly was glad to see the friend he made at the start of the season finally get a chance to succeed, but deep inside he was a little bit envious that Kawai and all these other drivers are getting that chance, but not him. He'd gotten so close multiple times, but that felt like ages ago. Sage feared that all those second place finishes he'd gotten in the seasons prior were his peak, a very short peak at that. A walk around 69X city wasn't cutting it for him, so he dropped by one of the bars, coincidentally also the one his teammate Ricky Lee had gone to.

Ricky wanted to do well at the Race of Sonnel, and it seems many of those who have read the stories about him also do, but what was a promising race for him was cut short when he and Virginy Kyzylov took each other out.

"Damn, that's bad," said the bartender who was listening to Ricky's tale.

"But I did get patched up good by some pretty nurse at the infield care center."

"That's good."

"Even asked me for my number."

"Nice! Did you tell her?"

"Kinda.... I said 'I'm number 99, end of the line, can't miss it.' Then when it dawned on me that it wasn't what she meant, like at all, she was nowhere to be found."

"That's bad."

Over in New Northwesteros, the KryptoKoin riots have finally died down. The Direwolf duo can finally return to their old headquarters, and that is where they'll be heading the day after the 69X race. The team's AOCAR operation continues to do well, especially Todd Underhill who is now fourth in points. A different riot has started online - one calling for them to be put in place of the ineffective Yeezies in the Cup Series.

Andre Massena looked at his phone and frowned. Why did he have 23 new voicemails? Had he forgotten to check it for a month? (It was easy to forget when you were accustomed to more traditional modes of communications. If a human messenger had an urgent message, they would demand your attention so it was impossible to miss. Voicemail notifications didn't do that.)

Massena started listening to some of the voicemails and he realized that no, he had not forgotten to check his voicemail. Napoleon had recently acquired a new phone charging cable and charged his phone for the first time in several weeks. It was not immediately obvious what happened to the old charger or why Napoleon took so long to figure out that his battery was dead, but the French Emperor was frustrated that Massena, Murat, and Lannes had not been in contact with him. Massena rolled his eyes and thought, Maybe we're not in contact with you because you let your phone go dead....

After charging his phone and calling each of his marshals to ask for a status report, Napoleon had evidently checked his own voicemails and found a bunch of complaints from Massena's subordinates who did not appreciate being put on babysitting duty. Napoleon then called Massena to see what he had to say for himself, but the calls went to voicemail.

There were also a couple blank voicemails where Napoleon had apparently dialed the wrong number or could not figure out how the voicemail system worked. Some of these had background noise or snippets of inaudible muttering.

Hapilopper wrote:So that night, as thousands of flyers, featuring the picture of Kai Qiang in drag and Rinzi Zakhilwal’s phone number, were hung up all over the track’s grounds – in the concession stands, around the stands, in the bathrooms, in the infield, near the haulers, everywhere – Drake was enjoying a quiet moment to himself.

Leujouje sat down with Drake and explained, "I work with the French. I help them to talk to the Jouoangquoirens... the pit crews. I help the French drivers talk to the Jouoangquoirais pit crews men."

"When I first see the French, I thought they are so romantic. I thought they are so strong, and they look so interesting with all this... you know." She used a hand gesture to indicate that she was talking about the French Army's fancy military regalia. "I thought they are great men and everything will be like a dream. But sometimes it is not how I thought..."
