Rederer Teases New Autobiography

By Sargon al-Basri

HAMILTON, ELECTRUM – Foger Rederer was in an upbeat mood following his 6-2, 6-4 victory over Abelie Fontana in the second round of the Hamilton International, crediting “peace and calm in my life” as the key to his victory, thanking the crowd, and even hinting that he is in the process of writing an autobiography.

“Abelie is a great opponent and a formidable player,” Rederer said in his post-match interview, surrounded by a largely supportive crowd who cheered him along the way as he easily disposed of Fontana in straight sets. “And it feels good to be back on the clay. It’s my first match on this surface since the Olympics, so obviously I have good memories associated with clay.

“I think that throughout my life I’ve been learning not to think too much of my mistakes and shortcomings in terms of my tennis, not to dwell on them too much, and learn from them in the process of improving my game.

“There is certainly more peace and calm in my life right now and I felt it during the match. I think it enabled me to stay focused from start to finish and helped me in winning the match.”

Ever the crowd favorite, Rederer did not shy away from displaying his own affection for them. “You are the best people I’ve ever known, and it’s people like you who make playing tennis worthwhile,” Rederer stated to much applause and cheers. “I want to win, I want to win titles, but most of all us I want all the people who’ve come here to get their money’s worth, because you deserve it.”

Rederer pointed to his coach Petros Samp, crediting him for being a “stable and inspiring presence” in his life. “Without Petros, none of this would have been possible,” Rederer said. “Petros is why Amarsin [Gandas], Emily [Romanescu], and myself are here, and I couldn’t thank him enough. This victory, like each of my other victories, is for him.”

Rederer then surprised many by implying that he is currently writing a book on his own life.

“I’m currently doing a project, and I think it’s an interesting one,” Rederer said. “Certainly it will be enlightening, and it will shed some light on my personal history and aspects of my life that you haven’t heard about. Once it’s finished you’ll be able to see it for yourself. There will be interesting details you’d love to hear.

Rederer refused to provide a clear deadline for the completion of the project, only stating, “Once it’s done, you will see it.”

“What kind of project it is, I’ll leave it to you to figure it out with your own imagination. But the finished product will come out sooner or later. You just wait and see.”

Saniscara Kliwon Wuku Kuningan, Pawukon 1783

Let's Get Yellow

Pemecutan Puri - Today, people are all hyping to many different international events especially in sports. Whether it is football competition, basketball, baseball, cricket and even tennis with its NSTT tour. But locally, Pemecutanian people especially Sanatana Dharma believers are having one of their biggest annual holy festival, Tumpek Kuningan. Fall on Saturday of the 12th week of Pawukon calendar, Pemecutan native calendar, Kuningan is a celebration towards the ancestors or Pitara as the locals say. But there is a myth that all prayers can only be delivered before noon.

Based on Bhagawan Dwija Chronicles, Kuningan comes from the word Kauningin which means announcing or announcement. The Kuningan is celebrate 10 days after Galungan, the biggest holy festival in the country where Sanatana Dharma believers celebrate the victory of Dharma against Adharma. While Kuningan is deemed as the closing ceremony of the 2 weeks long festival where the believers announcing their promise to stay in Dharma-way. This day also known as panyineban, where all the Gods and ancestors who is believed to visit the human world will be come back to the spiritual world. The Sanatana Dharma believers believe that the blessings that is given by the Gods and ancestors are given in the morning. This because the energy of the universe is rising up as the day begin until the sun directly above our heads (bajeg surya or noon). And after that, the energy started to depleted. That is why all the celebration and prayers in the day can only be done before noon. But it has to be notice that the start of the new day for Sanatana Dharma believers is begin at 6 am or when the sun is start to rise. So their praying time is limited to 6 hours from 6 am to 12 pm.

Hamilton International/Electrum International

Heated tempers under the scorching Hamilton sun
By: Thea Winther and Jonas Vendel

Drama has characterized the opening days of the Hamilton International, after top Cenian players Ardil Navsal and Lonus Varalin vented their frustrations about the new NSTT seasonal seeding system in a most public manner earlier this week.

The two legends are upset, because the ELTA has actually gone ahead and implemented the CCS/GCS-system that was decided adopted by the NSTT last year. This shocking turn of events - something decided upon actually being implemented - results in Navsal entering the Hamilton International seeded at fourth, and Varalin at sixth.

This has seemingly wounded the Cenian players pride, because they went on a tirade blasting several of the other players competing, and especially those players now seeded above them, namely Arthur Leloup (2), Andrew Simmons (3) and Union favorite Georg Heraklit (1).

Our man on the ground in Hamilton was able to catch up with first seed Georg Heraklit to get his take on the last days drama.

SM: Hello Georg, nice of you to talk to us.

GH: No worries man.

SM: I’m sure you’re aware of the criticism put forward by Ardil Navsal and Lonus Varalin directed at the new seeding system. What are your thoughts?

GH: Yeah, like, firstly I just want to say that I respect old people and the things they’ve accomplished and keep on accomplishing despite being old. I’ve always been a supporter of the elderly, and I fully understand them wishing to keep things as they have been, I mean, it’s probably natural to fear change as you’re getting up there. So I think that has a lot to do with it.

SM: So do you support their criticism of the implementation of this new seeding system?

GH: No, don’t get me wrong, I fully support the implementation of the new system and I think most of us do. It’s been decided, right, and this is just the logical conclusion of that decision. Really, moaning about stuff like that is like living in the past. Which is common for old people, of course, so I get that they do that.

SM: Their main grievance seems to be that in a “normal” seeding they would not be able to meet until the semifinals, whereas now they’re in the same quarter, pushing their potential showdown back in the bracket. They also lauded the recent Antillia Masters, where the organizers resisted the change to the seeding system.

GH: Sure, I get that they would rather face each other in the semi, but, I mean, none of them even reached the semifinals in Antillia, despite it running according to the old system. So like, glass in stone houses, you know.

SM: They also pointed out your early exit in Antillia as proof of the absurdity of the new system.

GH: Yeah, that run in Antillia was bad. I have to give them that! On the other hand, me and Arne did win the doubles, so that’s like a 100% more wins on clay for me compared to Ardil and Lonus this year.

SM: Alright, we’re gonna let you get back to training, Georg. Good luck against Jukić.

GH: Thanks man, I’m gonna need it. She’s a great player.

ELECTRUM INTERNATIONAL/HAMILTON INTERNATIONAL

THE RESULTING CRISIS FOR GORAN AND LEO CONTINUES!!

BY

IVAN JURLINA

Dear viewers, welcome to the show "IT'S TENNIS TIME!"
The Tier 1, Hamilton International and Tier 2 Electrum International tournaments continue to be played. Electrum is a sports nation, a great sports nation and a tennis nation also. Electrum has produced a large number of players with impressive careers.
And how our players played, we will find out in the next few minutes.

HAMILTON INTERNATIONAL

We will start with Lucija Bagarić. Lucija continues with her brilliant play in this tournament as well. The young and above all, talented tennis player, from whom we expected such results last season, continues with her winning series. In the third round, our tennis player played against the great name of world tennis, currently world number 1, Ardil Navsal of Ceni. Navsal already has a winning tournament in this season, he was the best in the Steinigestrasse Open. On the other side of the net is our Lucija who is playing the season of her career, her career so far. Lucija played the final in the Antillia Masters. Lucija has currently reached the career ranking, which is the 27th position in the NSTT ranking and the second position in the national ranking.
Ardil and Lucija played a great match. The match was full of great master points by both tennis players. Lucija's best shot is a devastating serve and that shot worked great this time as well. Navsal simply did not have a solution to tame the huge services of our tennis player. It is an amazing fact that in the whole match, the best player in the world had only one chance to break and did not use it.
Lucija, on the other hand, took the opponent's serve as many as three times, twice in the second set.

"I'm always honored to play against a player like Ardil is. I can learn a lot from him during the match. He is best in the world for fuck sake and I beat him. This win is proof that I'm finally healthy after that injury and tough surgery last season. The pain is now a thing of the past and I can finally play tennis ."

Lucija Bagarić (16) (SRE) 7 6
Ardil Navsal (4) (CEN) 5 2

The meeting between the two top 10 tennis players always attracts a lot of attention. It is a pity that these two tennis players met already in this... let's call the early phase of the competition. Janet Riley, a domestic player, currently the national number 1 in Electrum and number 6 in the world, beat our best player Tena Špiričić.
Both players gave the audience a high quality match, full of great moves by both players. We would say tennis for all fans of this game worth watching many more times. This kind of play and this kind of performance are worth of the finale of any tournament. It says so much about how strong this tournament really is. Tena won the first set. A set in which we saw three breaks but the last one belonged to our tennis player and that break ended the first set. In the second set, the home player's game is much more aggressive. Janet used one mild knock down of Špiričić and convincingly won the second set with two breaks. In the last set, both players played solidly and there was no possibility of breaks. However, in the end, one unforced error by our player turned the match around. With a great forehand, Tena diagonally threw the opponent away from the court and Tena saw an opportunity to get out into the net. Janet managed to return the ball with great difficulty and with the last atoms of strength. Tena had an empty court and then a simple volley ended up in to the net. That moment was crucial. Tena became insecure and Janet took advantage of that.

Janet Riley (7) (ETM) 5 6 6
Tena Špiričić (11) (SRE) 7 2 4

Ivan Štimac is showing recovery in his form. His play is getting better and better. In the third round, Štimac had a very difficult opponent, Foger Rederer. The former world number 1 opened the match well and took a 2-0 lead in the first set. However, Štimac managed to recover and return to the match and make a series of 5 games in a row. And when we thought that Foger could not recover from that, Adabian showed why he was number 1. Rederer equalized at 5-5, but then Štimac came to a break again and that proved to be crucial for the first set.
In the second set, both players stabilized their play, but in the end of the set, Foger managed to be better and win the second set. In the third set our player does a great series of 5-1 in games, Foger manages to win two games in a row but then Štimac finishes the set 6-3 and thus the match. A very important win for our player since he failed to defend the points from the Antillia Masters.

Ivan Štimac (9) (SRE) 7 4 6
Foger Rederer (5) (ADB) 5 6 3

DOUBLES

While Špricic and Koreleva are playing better and better, Leo and Goran are facing a serious results crisis. The guys were heavily criticized in the domestic media after the fiasco in the Antillia Masters and now they have suffered another early defeat by a double pair from Dotivija. We didn’t expect it to end early here either. The double from Dotivija did not seem like a difficult obstacle but they obviously were.
The Olympics are already at the door and the boys are silver medalists from past games. With this form, it will be very difficult for them in the rest of the season. We wonder if the end of such bad results is in sight.

Tena Špiričić/Alina Koreleva (SRE) 3 7 10
Kendra Fulhampton/Michael Fulhampton (TJU) 6 5 5

Damir Pernar/Bojan Nož (DOT) 6 3 10
Leonid Farkaš/Goran Ibrahimović (6) (SRE) 4 6 8

ELECTRUM NTERNATIONAL

At Electrum International, Petra Mačinković continues with excellent performances. In the third round, Petra defeated the player from Dotivija, Vilim Gulić, with a convincing 2-0. Wilim could not offer much resistance to our teenage rising star. Another young player, Dora Klemenčić, failed to go further. She was defeated in the third round by the third tournament seed from Acastanha, Leonora Gaditas.
Two new names have been introduced to NSTT tennis, Madyson Ryding and Ukio Katayama. Madyson is twenty-two years old and these are her first NSTT points in her career just like Ukyo Katayama, a nineteen-year-old who played instead of Ljubomir Ivanković in a pair with Martin Ocvirek of Raspotochje.
But for both of them, second round is end of road on this tournament.

It all ends here, once again. Again. Once more.
Fredrik Stagnelius was on his bed with his right leg puffed up by pillows. His knee was red and swollen. It had started aching a bit again during the latter part of that first match against the Acastanhadan player Iris Bergadhga, but it hadn’t worried him too much. He was still able to keep up the tempo and play according to plan. And it had gone well. They had been close in the first set, but when he turned it up to 11 in the second one, Bergadhga didn’t stand a chance.

It had felt worse when he woke up the next day, but he decided to ignore that. A couple of cheese sandwiches and a glass of milk, and everything will be right as rain, he had thought to himself. And it did quiet down some during the day. He even got in a little time on the training courts, and everything felt decent. He even spoke with a doctor. Not about the knee though, but about recovering from that heat stroke he suffered on his first day in Hamilton. He had vomited a lot and suffered mild hallucinations that first night, but apart from that, he had been lucky, according to the Electrumite doctor. So, that was something to be thankful for.

He had known going up against Lucija Bagarić would not be easy. He had followed her progress on the international circuit, and it was impressive. A year or two ago, he most likely would’ve won comfortably. His fine volleying skills and those sliced serves had always done wonders on the slow clay surface. However, could he best her now? He was not so sure. And it turned out he was right to be doubtful, because he never really gave Bagarić much of a contest. He could feel it early, she was just more on point, and he was too slow. He never managed to play the way he had envisioned, and honestly, he mostly felt like a bystander. She took him down in two straight sets, and that was the end of his Hamilton campaign.

But that wasn’t the only thing coming to an end, as he would soon realize. The knee had felt good enough during the game. A slight aching sensation here and there, but nothing that hampered him. It wasn’t until later, when he got back to the hotel and was about to order some room service, that the pain had struck him. It was intense, and actually made him keel over. The pain died down eventually, and he was able to get up and call for a doctor. He was rushed to the hospital and they quickly determined that his right knee was completely busted. He would need surgery again, and he could kiss the rest of the season goodbye. Oh well, he had initially thought to himself, there’s always the grass season and the indoor hardcourt. But no, he had gotten it all wrong. It was all over, the entire season. He would be lucky if he could ever play professionally again, the doctor had told him.

They had him stay at the hospital for a few days, but he would be going home soon. And quite possibly for the very last time.

Hamilton International news roundup: Day 4

By Zion Berik
TBC Sport in Hamilton, Electrum

June 19, 2022
1. World no. 1 race heats up heading into singles quarterfinals
Lucija Bagarić has certainly emerged as a spoiler in the clay court season this far, defeating clay court specialist Andrew Simmons and world no. 2 Lonus Varalin in her run to the Antillia Masters final as an unseeded player. And she has already emerged as a spoiler again in the race for world number one: After knocking off Ardil Navsal in the Round of 16 (and therefore knocking him from the world number one spot), she will have a much-anticipated rematch with Varalin. If Varalin loses, he'll share the number one spot with Foger Rederer, who lost in the Round of 16. And if he meets the Bagarić challenge, he'll have the sole number one spot.

That is, of course, if grass court specialist Dorotea Granit doesn't reach the final. If Granit and Varalin meet in the final... well, all the marbles would be on the line.

Whoever emerges from the Hamilton International will not reign on the NSTT soon. Beçonailles will reopen the race again, with the top contenders defending relatively few points. Rederer will defend bupkis, as will the Britonisean Ricardo Toli. So with 2,000 points up for grabs, the top seven players will all be in contention. Be prepared for some musical chairs at the top... mostly thanks to Bagarić.

2. Doubles teams move on to quarterfinals in Electrum International Tier 2
The Cenian Tennis Association's "Frankenstein" doubles strategy for the Tier 2 events looks a little less bonkers with both pairs entered at the Electrum International
moving on to the quarterfinals by defeating seeded teams. Kell Korden and Myria Primarch defeated home favorites and third seeds Bryson Dingley and Nissa Tran in two tight sets — even as Dingley kept pummeling Primarch's backhand — while Jana Arkinn and Will Nolovor defeated Teagan Cantrell and Derby Cuellar in a tamer fashion, 6-2, 6-3.

The CTA had worried about chemistry issues in breaking up two existing partnerships, but the rules limiting Tier 2 entrants to a combined 1,000 points meant that the organization felt that it would waste available spaces by only sending Arkinn and Primarch, who had never mounted a win together on tour. "We've been framing it as a contest between ourselves to go further in this tournament with our respective partners," Primarch says with a chuckle. "The winner has to buy the loser dinner."

And what if they both lose in the quarterfinals? "We'll drink our sorrows away in a bar — and pay our own tabs!" says Arkinn.

3. Varalin responds to Heraklit in growing row over seeding procedure
In an interview with Gnejs' Smash! Magazine (which does indeed have the exclamation point in its name), Gnejsian no. 2 and self-described clay court specialist Georg Heraklit poked fun at Ardil Navsal and Lonus Varalin for their criticism of the new seeding procedure in play here at the Hamilton International. "Really, moaning about stuff like that is like living in the past," complained Heraklit. "Which is common for old people, of course, so I get that they do that."

The 29-year-old Lonus Varalin responded to the criticism today in a press conference after his 6-2, 7-5 victory over Valentina Spetsova. "I've forgotten more about playing tennis than Heraklit will ever know," Varalin claimed. "And I've definitely got at least eight more years of playing tennis in me. I may have been around the block a few times, but I'll definitely be standing here on the corner for the next few years to come."

Heraklit had also pointed out that neither Varalin nor Navsal had won a clay court tournament so far this year. Varalin's response? "Watch me."

In single competition, only Ngurah Putra Muliawan who is remain in the competition after much of Pemecutanian players lost in the first round. Muliawan fought hardly against Jack Ho, one of host player. Losing in the first set, Muliawan is back to his performance in the second set. He pushed Jack Ho into the limit and defeated him in a tie-break match up. The third set was played in a tight atmosphere. Although Muliawan is look a little superior. He eventually win the set by 6-4 and claim one spot in quarterfinal.

In double, Putu Listya Dewi/Putu Ayu Maherani who is left. Their compatriot, Eka Putrawan/Dwi Ratmadi lost in the first round was a shocked for the Olympic medalist. However, Listya/Maherani also make another surprise. A positive one as they success to defeats 2nd seed, Val Korekal/Luciano Crepaldi of Ceni and San Ortelio in a straight set match. Listya/Maherani seems to control the match right from the start. They win the match by 6-2, 6-3.

The Union Family
Sigrid Vasakärven was walking the streets of Hamilton. It hadn’t been much of a run for her, but she was used to playing second fiddle, and she was proud over how well many of her friends and fellow Union players were performing, proud of being part of something bigger than herself. She felt like they were a family, a perfect constellation. So many stars, yet everyone got to shine in their own way.

As she turned a corner, a group of three small Eletrumite children came running up to her.

“Oh gosh, you’re Sigrid, right? One of the Gnejsians?” said the first
“I want to learn more about you, but I can’t remember who is who,” said the second
“Tell us everything about the Union players, just tell us about everyone!” said the third.

Sigrid smiled and said, “Ok, ok, just relax.” Then she snapped her fingers, and music magically filled the streets

My bro Georg,
His mood affects his playing,
When he's unhappy,
Well, the results they turn to shit,

My man Fredrik,

- We don't talk about Fredrik -

They say he had a future, but one day his knee went out,
Oh! And that's my man Arne, here's his deal, whoa,
The truth is, he plays with finches in his beard, whoa,
Don’t get how he keeps the eggs from getting smeared,

If you're impressed, imagine how I feel!

Welcome to the Union Family,
The home of the Union Family,
(Hey, coming through),
I know it sounds a bit fantastical and hammily,
But I'm part of the Union Family

“Wait, wait, who are the others?” asked the first child
“There are so many of you, so many,” said the second child
“How is one supposed to keep them all straight?” asked the third child in frustration

Okay, okay, okay, okay,
So many players in our house,
So, let's turn the sound up, you know why?
I think it's time for a grand slam round up,
(Grand slam round up),

Comrade Timaues, with his drop shot,
Sibylla works sooo hard, Cornelis just started off down here,

My older sisters,
Dorotea and Augusta,
One strong, one stronger,
Perfect in every way,

Serves an ace, the town goes wild,
(Dorotea)
She sees herself as a perfect golden child,
(Augusta! Augusta! Augusta! Augusta!)
And Augusta she can hunt,
They don’t speak much, mainly just grunt,

That's life in the Union Family (whoa)
Now you know the Union Family (whoa)
Where all the people are fantastical and magical (whoa)
That's who we are in the Union Family, Hej då!

“But what's your NSTT rank, Sigrid?” asked the three children in unison

Well, I gotta go, but now you all know the Union Family (whoa)

Doubles Dominate Electrum International

Hamilton - After a long drought from the players, the fans are very hyping for this double events held in Electrum. With the semifinal is on the next corner, Pemecutan still hold a massive players in both competitions. Especially the Tier 2 Electrum International.

Although there is only one single left in the semifinal, but in double, Pemecutan is dominating. 3 out of 4 pairs who compete in semifinal stage have Pemecutanian player in it. First, is the double mixed with host player, Leanne Stewart, we have Ilham Nugraha. Nugraha was first paired with fellow Pemecutanian, Jayadi Ahmad. But their mediocre performance resulted in the pair being separated. They were then paired with Eramanian players. Jayadi Ahmad with Lenta Rasmi. And Ilham Nugraha with Jimi Rusman. These setting was not making any progress too. This pairing was also dissolved in early season 8. Ahmad was then paired with Luh Putu Yundari to replace Oka Sulastra who is intended to retire. Luckily for Nugraha, he take the opportunity after ELTA search for a pair to Leanne Stewart. Although it is still in early stage, but their success to reached semifinal is a proof that they have a good future ahead.

The second semifinalist pair is also a mixed nationality. Chandra Wiguna of Pemecutan and Bruno Ayragadh from Acastanha. Wiguna have been in the NSTT your before. He take an early exit after season 6 ended cited a tight competition with fellow teammates to get competition entry as his main reason. He continue to practice in his club although he is decline to joined the domestic, PTA Tour. He is then asked again to play internationally. At first, he was chose to pair with Ilham Nugraha. But with Nugraha becomes Stewart pair, Wiguna's position is in limbo. Fortunately, Acastanhada federation is looking for a partner for one of their player, Bruno Ayragadh. The pair then make a debut in Vika Open where they lose in early stage. They reached quarterfinal for the first time at Plava Laguna Open and this edition they are advancing to semifinal.

The third double is pure Pemecutanian. Duwanisarga Yajamaja and Kirigundi Padurjili. The pair was first entered NSTT in the late season 7. Debuted in Three Degrees Open, the pair lost in first round. Yajamaja and Padurjili are players from the newly add state, Soracana Islands. PTA scouts eyeing on them as part of the association's regeneration plan. But the plan is not quite success as the pair repeatedly lose early on. This time on Electrum International, is their first ever semifinal placement. They make a shocking performance by defeating first seed, Jordi Pérez/Rubén Pérez of Aqual in a tight tie-break ending match.

There is one other player that is left. Competing in single of Electrum International, he is Komang Agus Artawan. One of the young generation of Pemecutan tennis, Artawan have proof himself that he is capable. His first appearance during season 6 was not that phenomenal. He struggled to cope with the pace and easily lose in earlier stage. The situation become differ in season 7. He gained several notable achievement including a round 16 finished at Cenian Open grand slam. His best achievement in season 7 was semifinal at Mendez Bay Open. And he success to reached top 50 in the player's ranking at the end of season 7. But his absent in Vika Open due to points restriction and Cenian Open early exit makes his position fall again. And this time, he show that he is capable to rise again with another semifinal placement.

The massive representation in Electrum International is not reflected in Hamilton International. After Putu Listya Dewi/Putu Ayu Maherani lost in the quarterfinal, there is only one player left. He is Ngurah Putra Muliawan. The veteran player reached semifinal after defeating 3rd seed, Andrew Simmons in a tight rubber set match. This result or placement however is his best in the season so far. Muliawan have a hard start in season 8 with a surprise early exit in both Cenian Open and Electrum Slam. He is also show a mediocre performance in Antillia Masters. But his next opponent can't be underestimate. Dorotea Granit is one of the best rising player at the moment. She proof herself with a grand slam early in the season.

In Electrum International, Komang Agus Artawan will meet 11th seed from Srednjaci, Petra Mačinković. She success to defeats 1st seed, Hildebrandt Weisgerber of Recuecn in 3-sets match. While Duwanisarga Yajamaja/Kirigundi Padurjili will be playing against 6th seed, Leanne Stewart/Ilham Nugraha. And lastly for their first semifinal match, Chandra Wiguna/Bruno Ayragadh will be facing Gnejsian pair, Sibylla Naess/Timaeus Andersson. The pair advance to semifinal after defeating 2nd seed, Alen Glesnik/Vječeslav Korent of Dotivija quite easily. All of these matches can be watch live from GOR channel.

Hamilton International: Lonus Varalin to face Georg Heraklit in semifinals

By Zion Berik
TBC Sport in Hamilton, Electrum

June 21, 2022
After the Cenian and the Gnejsian sparred in the press and in the court of public opinion over the Hamilton International’s seeding procedure, they will now spar on the tennis court in the semifinals of the Hamilton International.

Varalin defeated Lucija Bagarić of Srednjaci in three topsy-turvy sets in a less straightforward rematch of their Antillia Masters quarterfinal that Bagarić had won 7-5, 7-5.

In contrast to the previous match, where Bagarić had blasted the ball past Varalin in all directions with impunity, Bagarić started out the match on a sour note by hitting three unforced errors in her first service game to hand the break to Varalin on a silver platter. That first game set the tone for the remainder of the set, where Bagarić’s inconsistency rather than power came to fore. Varalin did not have to do much to cruise to a straightforward victory. By the seventh game, it seemed like Bagarić had run out of steam, and the previously impenetrable Bagarić served had devolved to what tennis instructors colloquially call a “pattycake” serve.

Varalin capped off the set with a roaring return winner to roar to a 6-1 victory.

But the match still appeared to rest on Bagarić’s racket as Varalin still had not mounted the superb ballstriking abilities that had brought him to the world number one position previously. Indeed, the second set reconfirmed Bagarić’s ability and made Varalin look like a scarecrow with a tennis racket in his hand. Like in their Antillia quarterfinal, Bagarić painted the lines with powerful shots and moved Varalin around the court with precise, powerful strokes — and then following them up with exquisitely placed dropshots. Varalin had visibly lost the energy to deal with Bagarić, and Bagarić took the second set by a 6-2 margin.

With the swing in momentum, then, Varalin would need to mount a stunning recovery in his game to reclaim the world number one position from Ardil Navsal, who had lost to Bagarić in the previous round. The first few games looked like they would cement Bagarić’s dominance, as she mounted a service game with two aces and two one-two punches and then subsequently broke Varalin’s serve (which has never been the most powerful tool in his toolbox).

But in the next service game, Varalin surprised Bagarić with a sudden burst of energy, chasing down a drop shot that Bagarić had counted on for a winner and simply pushing it past her down the line for a winner. That passing shot winner turned into an inflection point for the set as Varalin quickly broke Bagarić’s serve and then won his own serve at love with several cat-and-mouse points, including an angled cross-court backhand that Bagarić simply had no response to. Varalin had reclaimed his mojo. Bagarić won her next service game, but only after six deuces and three break points, and afterwards, she crumpled.

Varalin closed off the match with a backhand drop shot that managed to spin back over to his side of the net.

In the post-match press conference, Varalin answered the questions about the match against Bagarić in his usual laconic manner but had some choice words for Heraklit after learning that he had defeated home hope Janet Riley 6-4, 6-1.

“Certainly, I don’t think that the result of this match will determine the merit of the arguments for and against the new seeding system,” Varalin said. “But God knows that us ‘old fogeys’ can certainly still give the youngsters a good thrashing at tennis.”

Asked about a ditty about the Gnejsian tennis family sweeping the streets of Hamilton, Varalin brushed off its popularity. “I certainly won’t talk about Fredrik,” Varalin said, “nor will I talk about anyone else from the song.”

In other news, Ceni will also have two representatives in the doubles semifinals, where Sara Zhuo and Gyrachor Rentos will attempt to carry on Varalin’s crusade against Heraklit for their own reasons as they face off against Heraklit and partner Arne Oxwald in the doubles; Coosal Darlcheri and Perger Rianor will face the surprise Dotivijan pair Damir Pernar and Bojan Nož. Kika Dovan will also represent Ceni in the semifinals of the Tier 2 event being held concurrently.

Battle of the Pemecutan

Hamilton - The Electrum twin events have become increasingly interesting as it's reached semifinal round. Pemecutan is seen to dominate the Tier 2 tournament while Cenian and Gnejsian players compete for a domination in the Tier 1. Although it was unfortunate for Muliawan to lose his semifinal match against Dorotea Granit. But all in all, this has been his greatest performance so far after mediocre results in the end of Season 7 and double early exits in the first 2 Grand Slams of Season 8. It is worth to mention as Muliawan has stated to cut back his participation, clay season will be his priority.

Onto Electrum International. This Tier 2 tournament have flock by several Pemecutanian players in its final stage. With Komang Agus Artawan in the single final and Chandra Wiguna and Ilham Nugraha in double final although with different partners. Agus Artawan advance to final after defeating Srednjaci player, Petra Mačinković in straight set of 6-3, 6-2. Artawan seems to has control the match right from the start. His next opponent in the final is Leonora Gaditas. This Acastanhada new player have give a huge surprise after her success to reached her first final at previous tournament, Plava Laguna Open. And this is her second final. It can be predicted that Gaditas aimed for her first title after she failed at Plava Laguna but is Artawan still have the chance? It is no doubt that in this tournament, Artawan has shown his best performance so far. This is also his first final in NSTT tour. So if he is still continuing his great run, this match will be a very tight performance for both players.

In double tournament, there is a technical all-Pemecutan final. Or should we say half-Pemecutan final? The final match of Electrum International double competition can be say unique. The two finalist pairs have a Pemecutanian player in it. On one side is the 5th seed, Leanne Stewart with her Pemecutan partner, Ilham Nugraha. And the other side is Bruno Ayragadh and also with a Pemecutanian partner, Chandra Wiguna. This match is also crucial as it is both pair first final.

The success of Pemecutanian players in Tier 2 tournament have risen one big question. Have Pemecutan regeneration plan working? Chandra Suraberata, a sport critics said that the plan might starting to work. It's just from one tournament so it can't be evaluate as such. And in single, the better result is still hold by older player such as Artawan and Lubis who are in final and quarterfinal respectively. So, it is still premature to say about it. He added. Suraberata also noted about Pemecutan Olympic tennis squad which he deemed a good example of regeneration process. As a conclusion, regeneration is a must and PTA have to do it fast with some of the players has hinted about their retirement. Whether it is in this season or next season.

While for Pemecutanian tennis fans, all the matches for the final of Electrum International and Hamilton International will be broadcasted live by GOR channel. The most crucial match will be in Electrum International. Komang Agus Artawan will meet Leonora Gaditas of Acastanha in single. And Stewart/Nugraha will face Wiguna/Ayragadh in double.

Eight Britons qualify directly for Beçonailles after terrible clay court season

Image
The Britonish Number 2: Jason Gordon hopes to overtake Ricardo Toli in the YTD rankings to become the Britonish Number 1 in Beçonailles, but he hasn't had much practise on clay court.

All Britonish players picked up 120 points between them so far in a dismal clay-court season for Britonish Tennis with Britons coming into Beçonailles very vulnerable...

Britonish players were not present in the most recent edition of the Hamilton International, which meant that certain players such as Ricardo Toli and Jason Gordon missed out in the singles tournament ahead of Beçonailles. Ricardo Toli, in particular, finds himself 7th in the rankings with a 500-or-so point deficit to whoever is in 6th place in the rankings, meaning he would have to make huge waves in Beçonailles in order to catch up to the rest of the pack. Toli isn't on top form like he was last year, and has announced that he does not intend to go to the Olympic Games as a singles athlete (but might participate in the mixed doubles, for example), as he would instead prepare for the Mercedinian Open - where he will be defending 2000 points thanks to his brilliant court season last year. Toli is out of the top ten for the YTD rankings, which means that at the moment he has not booked a space at the World Tour Final which he participated in last year. Sources say that Toli has gotten too comfortable with his ranking at the moment as the tennis player has been 7th in the rankings for a long time and is not necessary making leaps into the upper echelons of the most elite tennis players. Ahead of the Grand Slam, team Britonisea are defending zero points in Recuecn with the nation's players not participating last year meaning that only things can get better for the Britonish players. For Ricardo Toli, he might be able to cease this as an opportunity to get back into the game and at least get back into contention for qualifying for the World Tour Final - where he could drop a lot of points if he ends up not participating. Toli has arrived in Recuecn and is preparing for his match against Pedro Sanchez de la Cruz from TJUN-ia, ranked 93rd in the world. In a press conference, Toli said that 2022 so far has been quite the opposite of 2021 and he wasn't sure why, but said that he is focused ahead on the competition which starts in a few days' time. For Beçonailles, Toli has been given a ranking of 9th, lower than his world ranking perhaps alluding to the Briton's poor performance on clay.

Hot in his heels is Jason Gordon - the current Britonish number two ranked 20th in the world and is ranked 19th in Beçonailles. Jason is up against Tristan Delisle from the host nation which will mean the crowd will be against him during the match. Despite this, Jason has only one thing on his mind - being the Britonish number one. While that isn't mathematically possible until at least (at this rate) the Britonish Open in the autumn, Gordon is very close to Toli in the YTD rankings. He is still high off of winning the first indoor hard court competition of the season last year and qualifying to the Ro16 at the Electrum Slam, further than Ricardo Toli who shockingly fell at the first hurdle. Though, its now time for Gordon to consolidate himself as a great tennis player ready to play alongside the greats of the tournament. At the moment, gone are the days when Britons were seeded in the top 3 for a tournament, but Gordon has said that he would definitely love to one day be ranked that highly and believes that he could catch up Ricardo Toli too.

Ricardo Toli and Jason Gordon are both in the same half of the competition this year and if they win all of their matches, they will meet each other in the quarterfinals but the latter will have some tough matches, including a potential pairing up with Andrew Simmons (ETM) who has been ranked 4th for Beçonailles. 3 other Britons have been drawn in this half meaning that it's unlikely we will have a Britonish-heavy final eight in Recuecn. Derek Dubrovnik, currently ranked 77th in the world, is fighting hard to get back into the top 50s and eventually become the Britonish No 3 again after Ralph Newkarn extended the gap ahead of him. In September 2021, before the Grass court season, Dubrovnik was ranked 148th in the world and so has made a 71 rank improvement in less than a year which is something to be celebrated. According to insiders, it's Dubrovnik's plan to get into the Round of 64 at least where it is likely he will be playing against 23rd seed Jean van de Kloor from TJUN-ia. If he loses at that point, he will be eligible for Tabeira International in order to have a leg up for the Grass season which is very much important to Britons and ahead of the Salvador Hills Open and the Britonish Open - the preceding Tier 1 tournaments. Jean van de Kloor will be playing against Briton Arthur Phoenix-Howard, ranked outside of the Top 250 but is likely to make it in after this Grand Slam - just for entering and playing a first-round match. Ralph will be looking to close the gap between himself and Britonish Number 2, Jason Gordon but will play against Kika Dovan from Ceni in his first-round match and is lined up to play Dewa Putu Adrian Putra from Pemecutan by round four meaning his journey will be a difficult one. Aaliyah de León has been making small movements, now currently in 145th in the world and is due to play a wildcard as her first-round match. She is due to play Emily Romanescu from Adab if she wins her match, and if Emily wins her - with the battle of the youngsters expected to draw a lot of crowd for tennis fans from Adab and Britonisea. Kush Acharya and Leone Na make up the rest of the Britonish tennis cohort for this year's Grand Slam but only time will tell how many of them making it through to the Ro.64.

Britonish matching of Beçonailles will likely be shown on BITC 1 with full coverage of the Grand Slam on BITC 2 and BITC Sport...

East Babylonia set to make international tennis Debut

Considered a sport for the more wealthy until the late 2010's, which saw the creation of the Babylonian Tennis Administration (BTA) and would make the sport more mainstream. Now in 2022, it is considered the third most popular sport in Eastern Babylonia, although popularity varies region to region. With Babylonians having only been played on Hard or Artificial Courts, it seemed like pushing the winners of the 11 federal tennis opens, only available for domestic use of players, and the 4 federal doubles opens, to the same rulings of the single opens, wouldn't be ideal if Eastern Babylonia would want to establish themselves on a more international level. However, the establishment of the 2022 Northern Cyprus Open to singles, it allowed Eastern Babylonia it's international tennis debut, and for most players, their clay court debut.

With zero ranked players, it was noted that the 18-year old sensation, Hanbal Alli, could be considered the best players in Eastern Babylonia, due to his record victories in the Kuwaiti and Iraq Open, having been champion for the last two seasons. Aside from Hanbal's record victories, the older players of Reda Rahimi and Akbar Farra could be considered on a similar domestic basis than All, with both players having beaten Alli in small competitions, with Farra's dramatic victory in the North Syrian Open Final and Reda's dominative display in the first round of the Eastern Babylonian Super Cup two years ago. Farra, Rahimi and Alli are all considered, on a domestic basis, as the three big players, who collectively have dominated the sport domestically for the last 5 years. The oldest player who has been applied upon Eastern Babylonia's qualifying application is 32-year old, and former politician, Aharon Jafari, who historically won the first Super-cup in 2009, although it was considered an amateur competition within those years.

Due to this Eastern Babylonia's international debut, and most players debut on a clay court, expectations remain fairly low, with only Hanbal is be considered good enough to head to the first round, although according to his life-long coach and former football player, Muhka Veshi, "this is just an experience". Players such as Rahimi and Farra, who are domestically known to be at a similar ability, are not expected to make it to the first round. However, with all players, including the more overlooked and under-reported sister to the singles, Doubles, will be entering qualifiers, the potential for at least one player is fairly high.

It's Time to Slam

Beçonailles - After a hectic journey of Pemecutanian players in this clay court season, now it is time for the ultimate challenge. As the clay court season is going to end, one last tournament have to be conquered. It is the grand slam of clay, Beçonailles. With the official name of Championnats Nationaux de Reçueçn de Tennis, Beçonailes in short, is the place for all clay specialist player to show their best performance. And how about Pemecutan?

The country really does have a hard start in this season. But beginning the clay court season, their players seems to be more shine. 3 titles have been won by Pemecutanian players so far. 2 in single and one in double. This accomplishment have elevate the fans confidence in their players following the Grand Slam event. In single, Dewa Putu Adrian Putra, Ngurah Putra Muliawan and Komang Agus Artawan are the most watched players in this tournament. While in double, Komang Antari/Kadek Andreawati, Putu Listya Dewi/Putu Ayu Maherani and Ilham Nugraha who is paired with Electrumite player, Leanne Stewart will be look for.

It is absolutely the best place for Muliawan to gained points after his bad result in the first two grand slams. Although his performance is still not in his prime. His best result so far, in clay, is semifinal at Hamilton International. On the other hand, Artawan once again surprise his fans with a title at Electrum International. Something that he himself shocked with as Leonora Gaditas, his final opponent were more favorite. Some fans hope that Artawan could stay in his best performance and give another surprise in Beçonailles.

In double, it was unfortunate that Antari/Andreawati and Listya/Maherani failed to shine in the previous clay tournaments leading to this slam. However, both double pair are still being favorite by Pemecutanian tennis fans. Antari/Andreawati also have a bigger goal in their hand. After winning a Tier 2 tournament back in season 6 and a silver medal in Olympic, it is their time to sought another title in NSTT. Their chance was lost in Tier 1 Antillia and now in Beçonallies, what will it be? The pair have to faced a lot of great pairs around the multiverse including Zhuo/Rentos, Ronya, Luciano/Crepaldi and of course the Xal's sisters. Not to mention many new rise double which can hinder their way.

Although it seems that Beçonailles drawing is more favor to clay specialist players. This can be seen with Muliawan gets the 3rd seed despite his rank. But Muliawan stated that seed is only a number. If you can't play right then you're out. He indicated that no matter seeded or not, playing as its best throughout the competition is more important. In the end, the fans are hungry for another achievement from their idols. After a drought in season 7, this is the time where they have their hopes again.

BBC OFFICIAL REPORT: Obamen's Feet of Clay Evident Following Beçonailles Disaster

By Tennis Correspondent Amy X. Obama

Beçonailles, Reçueçn - With the Olympic Games rapidly approaching, the Obamen on the clay today at the Beçonailles Grand Slam made many question whether they were fit to represent the country anymore with their disastrous performances. There were some highlights, particularly Michelle Obama's comeback against Perla Banyo, Lily Lobamas' demolition of Vin Cents, and the Emily Barock/Amy H. Bama combo's win over Aarna and Zana Sing. (All of the defeated opponents were from Ildonya.) However, mostly dreadful performances disgraced the honourable courts of Reçueçn.

For the singles matches, formerly highly rated Obaman Nicole Obamad shamed the nation with the bottle of the season, having gone from winning 6-1 in the first set to losing the next two 7-5 and 6-3 against Jason Argo, failing where her compatriots succeeded in defeating the Ildonyans. Emily Barock faced off against Luka Šatorić, getting dumped out of the competition after losing 6-1, 6-3. Similarly, Amy H. Bama (NO RELATION) lost to Pedri Garnach 6-2 and 6-1, a deserved thrashing. Maya O'Bama only fared slightly better than the two against Garbiñe Flor, losing both sets by 6-4, but made several embarrassing follies, including serving into the net (twice). On the bright side, the wonderful Lily Lobamas delivered a marvellous performance against Vin Cents, destroying them over the two sets by 6-1 and 6-3. Michelle Obama also showed off her skills as the comeback queen, going from losing the first set 6-4 to winning the next two six to two.

The doubles matches were not any better, though curiously no one who succeeded in the singles matches succeeded in the doubles matches and vice versa. Nicole Obamad continued her embarrassing streak of Ls partnering up with Christine Obama, getting soundly defeated by Ildonya, 6-2 and 6-1. Garbiñe Flor and Maya O'Bama faced off again, this time with their respective partners Carles Puig and Michelle Obama. The Obamen lost once again, this time in a nailbiting 3-6, 6-4 and 4-6 match. The saving grace came from Emily Barock and Amy H. Bama, redeeming themselves by eliminating the Sings from Ildonya 6-4 both sets.

These troubling results have made many Obamen very pessimistic for the future of Obaman tennis, with the bid for Olympic glory looking further away with each defeat. With the (objectively) best player on the team, Lily Lobamas, unable to carry the team to success, Coach Arnold Obamazomovich's head is on the chopping block (possibly literally) if results don't come through with the remaining players. This is going to be tough, gruelling rest of season for the Obamen.

Centralis Herald - Sports Section - Kimiko Shigaraki

Now is the winter of our discontent

For the first time in a long time, Electrumite tennis fans have a lot to worry about. Heading into the halfway point of the year, Electrum's tennis players have not performed to expectations. In particular, from the perspective of fans and the ELTA, the benchmark of having a full Electrumite player and team in both of the NSTT Finals has the potential of not being met for the first time since the restart of the tour.

Over on the singles, Electrum's brightest hopes have been Andrew Simmons and Janet Riley. Simmons, the perennial clay court specialist, has struggled to take advantage of both the surface and the new rules this season which gave him a higher seeding than what he would normally be entitled to. In particular he crashed out of the Antillia Masters with a first round straight sets loss to the surprising eventual semifinalist in Bagaric. It was an opportunity that went begging, especially considering the calibre of opponents that Bagaric would later face. His quarterfinal run at Hamilton was better but he still lost points given he made the semifinals last year. His only hope of making to the finals is making very good runs in both Recuecn and the indoor hard court season because his style of play on grass just does not work.

For Janet Riley, she's a lot closer to the top eight -- she's currently ranked 13th on the year-to-date rankings. Her ranking of fourth belies the fact that she is defending the vast majority of her points on the grass when she hit that purple patch last year. She has not been able to consolidate those points in the tournaments so far but she's been a lot more consistent than Simmons. Like Simmons, she will need to defend those grass court tournament points well for her to have a shot at the top eight.

And over in the doubles, the lone bright spark is Sara Zhuo who is still in that sublime pairing with Rentos. Zhuo and Rentos play styles are completely complimentary with Zhuo's net play and Rentos' inventiveness on the baseline gelling well. But the same cannot be said for Ronya and Hathwar and Ho who are struggling to crack the top eight. After being set aside by the ELTA for just one tournament two years ago, Ronya have not been the same in terms of their confidence. In recent years they have been a lot more timid and rumours are abound that they might just retire at the end of the season. If that were the case, it would be a big news story and leave only the Xal siblings as the definitive pair in tennis. For Hathwar, nothing can really replicate his chemistry with Spencer Kohnhead, who has now retired from international tennis along with his fellow countrymen. He's good mates in his replacement, Ho, as they knew each other well before their international careers started. But Ho is no Kohnhead. He's a lot more reserved and less of a hard hitter. He sometimes requires a lot of pep talk from Hathwar who has to often shoulder the load in coaching Ho to stay positive.

So where does this leave things? The ELTA has always been standing high up in its perched, convinced that its ultracompetitive system of only allowing the best of the best entries into the Tier 1 tournaments are the best way to get results from its players. Perhaps that system needs a rethink. It has not given the opportunities to new players which deserve a spot in the top tournaments. Case in point: Jack Ho and Maddison Scott in the singles. They had excellent runs in the Tier 2 tournaments earlier this year -- imagine how well they could have done if they had the opportunity to play in Tier 1 tournaments last year. It's clear that that these talented players were denied the opportunity to play in a system that kept Carmichael Brown until the bitter end. The result is a schlerotic and sluggish system that fails to reward new talent and risks jeopardising Electrum's places in the year end final.

Rederer: I’ll Have Fun… and Maybe Win Beçonailles

By Sargon al-Basri

BEÇONAILLES, REÇUEÇN – In his pre-tournament press conference, Adabian tennis star Foger Rederer insisted that while the “most important thing” for him would be to “have fun” in his first outing at Les Championnats, he nevertheless believes he can win the tournament.

“Absolutely, without a doubt,” Rederer said when asked if he thought he could win. “If you don’t believe in yourself, who’s gonna believe in you?”

“I know I’ve got a load of tough competition ahead of me – and obviously I have played some of the top players here before so I know what I’m going to deal with – but I think that, as long as I keep my head down and play my best tennis, I can go all the way and maybe even win.”

Rederer, who is currently ranked second, named world number one and this year’s Hamilton International winner Dorotea Granit as his favorite to lift the trophy at Beçonailles, but also warned that world number two Lonus Varalin can be a “great threat” in this tournament.

“Dorotea has been in great form recently and I enjoy watching her, including last week at Hamilton when she won,” Rederer explained. “So as long as her form carries over, I think it’s more than possible that she will come home with the trophy.

“On the other hand, we all know how good Lonus is and only a fool will ever count him out. He’s one of my favorite players and I definitely think he will go far. Either way they will be deserving champions.”

For someone who has built his public profile on a relish for the spotlight and headline-grabbing stunts, Rederer has surprisingly kept a low profile ever since arriving in Reçueçn, largely staying to the practice courts with coach Petros Samp, fellow Adabian players Emily Romanescu and Amarsin Gandas, and his so-called “court musician” Jamal Nasser, who has spent the last six months traveling with the Rederer retinue and providing them entertainment with his songs.

“The practice has been going well,” Rederer said. “I’m just out here playing my best tennis and we’re confident that we’re going to have a good time out there, playing matches. It’s going to be a blast. I can’t wait to get back on the court for a real match and play my best tennis like I’ve always been doing.”

Rederer will be playing Beepee’s Ivo Dhjukharevic in his first-round match tomorrow.

Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.

Flor restores hope for Aqualias in Beçonailles after uninspiring clay season
BEÇONAILLES, Rçn.—After lackluster results in the preceding tournaments of the clay swing, Aqualias are cautiously optimistic that the low-profile Garbiñe Flor's wins in both singles and doubles qualifying bode well for Aqualian success in les Championnats. A recap of both matches and a preview of what's in store for the first round of Beçonailles below.

Garbiñe Flor (Q) (AQL) 6 6
Maya O'Bama (Q) (WBO) 4 4

Flor opened up the action for Aqualias in Reçueçn with a close but clear victory over Maya O'Bama, which will certainly be a confidence booster for the young tenista after her blowout defeat in the opening round of the Electrum International. She looked to be not quite yet as confident in her playing as in previous years and on the national circuit, but showed a remarkable improvement over her first outing this year, routinely applying pressure to the Obamen player's serve through great baseline defense to capture the break advantage and ultimately carry the match in straight sets, aided by a pair of double faults from her opponent. Flor will face Ivan Belosorochko from Waisnor in the first round of the main draw.

Garbiñe Flor/Carles Puig (3) (AQL) 6 4 6
Michelle Obama/Maya O'bama (WBO) 3 6 4

Garbiñe Flor would soon face a rematch with O'Bama in the doubles qualifier alongside Carles Puig, who is making his Grand Slam debut in this tournament. The Obamen team continued to struggle on serve early in the match, with the defensive and offensive combination of Flor and Puig making relatively short work of the first set, which they won 6-3 in a little over half an hour. However, perhaps faced with the prospect of exiting the tournament so quickly, Obama and O'Bama rebounded in the second set, looking much better on serve and managing to break in the tenth game with an impressive backhand down the line return winner to force the decider. There, under the watch of a steadily-growing crowd as fans from shorter matches made their way to the only doubles qualifier which went the distance, both teams were at their best defensively, trading breaks in a series of long, thrilling exchanges. In the end, however, the Aqualian team won the decisive break in the penultimate game before an ace from Carles Puig on the second match point advanced them to the main draw, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4. There they will meet Cenians Elia and Xia Fal, the fourth seeds.

With Flor's qualification, all eight Aqualian singles entrants and all four doubles teams will be competing in the first round of the main draw in Beçonailles. Matéu Virxiliu, coming off a first round loss in the Hamilton International to TJUN-ia's Jean van de Kloor, will face Ceni's Liam Penderyn, with a potential matchup against top seed Georg Heraklit looming in the second round. Flor's doubles partner Carles Puig, the twenty-eight year old from the northeast province of Casolenya, won a tight first singles match on the NSTT tour in the Electrum International last week before falling in the second round to Austin McDanielson. Here, he will face qualifier Zuhayr Maroun from Eastern Babylonia in the first round. Lara Navarro, better known for her doubles performance alongside partner Carla Tormo, fell in qualifying to compatriot Virxiliu in Hamilton but seeks to make a name for herself in singles in this Grand Slam, facing off first against Martin Khalizniakov of Beepee. Thirteenth-seeded Sílvia García was upset in her first match in Electrum, but hopes to get a win under her belt against another player from Beepee, Gethin Syde. Sandra Mae of Dotvija will be Paula Suárez's first opponent after her first round loss in the Hamilton International as a qualifier. Bartolo Sabanero, searching for his second Grand Slam title on clay, will be thoroughly tested right out of the gate, going up against twenty-two seed Maddison Scott of Electrum. Tormo's first round opponent will be Timaeus Andersson from Gnejs, although she will likely focus most of her energies on the doubles given clay is not her preferred surface.

Speaking of doubles, the Tormo/Navarro team, who went home in the first round of the Hamilton International in a super tiebreak, will be challenged early in the draw as they face the Adabian sixteenth seeds Emily Romanescu and Amarsin Gandas first. The ever-entertaining Pérez brothers, quarterfinalists in the Electrum International, will be paired up against Aaren Seabrooke and Lacey John of the United Adaikes in the opening round of doubles, while tenth seeds Bartolo Sabanero and Qualo Tabos will be opposite Eastern Babylonian wild cards Nabeel Khalili and Naeem Mourad.

We hope you will continue to utilize the daily online updates from Beçonailles on our website and check back in tomorrow's print edition of the Toboso Chronicle for a full recap of all of the day's results featuring your favorite Aqualian tenistas as the clay Grand Slam gets into full swing!
