RP permissions
If you RP first you may RP any in-competition actions by RCN Unified athletes: who scored, missed, made a mistake, minor rule violations, etc.

Injuries to be a minimum and no extreme violence towards athletes or fans unless you have permission.

As it's s Unified Team. Contact nation in question as West Phoenicia is agreeable to most rp's, but other players may not.

Any nation who has rp in a sport with West Phoenicia before, is free to include us in any form. (You know we love saucy and scandelous)
But TG needed for anything extreme or outside the box.

Sarzonian Olympic hockey teams (will fill in the rest as I have time)

Style: 0
RP Allowances
My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:
Choose My Scorers: Yes
Godmod Scoring Events: Yes
RP Injuries to My Players: No
Godmod Injuries to My Players: No
RP Penalties for My Players: Yes
RP Ejections for My Players: Yes
Godmode Other Events: Yes (TG first)

Men's team
Coach: Clark Westley (49)
Assistant Coaches: Norm Cullen (59); Brad Tresequet (41)
Goalie Coach: Robert Watson (55)

GOALTENDERS (Depth chart is as listed here)
1 Joe Cullen, 20, 5-foot-11, 195 pounds
Uses a butterfly style and quick reflexes in the net. Very aggressive at playing angles and shooters. This is sometimes his downfall along with suspect puck-handling.
30 Mike Gagnon, 21, 6-foot-3, 215 pounds
Employs a stand-up style in net. His size, puck-handling and glove hand are his greatest weapons. Not as instinctive as Cullen.
39 Brad Gauthier, 18, 6-foot-1, 205 pounds
Also uses a butterfly style, but is more raw than either Cullen or Gagnon. He's often going to be a healthy scratch.

DEFENCEMEN
First Pairing

2 Matt Houlder, 20, 5-foot-10, 185 pounds
He's the speediest of the Stars defencemen and uses that speed and puck-handling ability to both serve as an offensive defenceman and to check the fastest forward on the other team. Often plays the point on the power play.
6 Geoff Clancey, 19, 6-foot-2, 215 pounds
Clancey is more of a size player who uses strength and positioning. He's an imposing presence on the back line. Plays on the penalty kill.

Second Pairing
3 Tim Belanger, 18, 6-foot-3, 225 pounds
A fearsome checker with decent speed. Frequently on the penalty kill.
5 Howie Clark, 19, 5-foot-11, 200 pounds
He's kind of a speed guy but plays as a stay-at-home defenceman. He can spell Belanger or Clancey on the penalty kill when size isn't as much of a requirement.

Third Pairing
4 Howie Boucher, 19, 6-foot, 195 pounds
He has a great mix of size and speed, but relatively little hockey experience compared to the rest of the roster since he's from Nicksia near the Delaclav border.
8 Thomas Yost, 20, 6-foot-4, 225 pounds
Another size player, but he lacks the speed of many of the defencemen on this team. He'd likely be an enforcer in a competition that allows fighting.

FORWARDS
First Line
LW 10 Jon Girard, 20, 6-foot-3, 210 pounds
He has speed and puck skills and a devastating lefty shot. He's often employed in power play situations.
C 11 Kyle Percival, 23, 6-foot-4. 220 pounds
Percival uses his size as leverage when he does faceoffs and has a very heavy righty slapshot. Vicious forechecker.
RW 12 Noah Desjardins, 19 5-foot-11, 185 pounds
Unlike his linemates, Desjardins is more of a skill and speed skater. Girard and Percival often protect him like big brothers/bodyguards.

Second Line
LW 14 Chris Dube, 18, 6-foot, 195 pounds
He plays bigger than his size and sometimes gets himself injured as a result. His injury history is what prevents him from being on the top line.
C 16 Marc Tippett, 20, 6-foot-1, 200 pounds
His defence is worthy of the fourth line, but his offensive skillset is worth the top line. His aggressiveness in forechecking sometimes gets him into the sin bin too often.
RW 15 Tommy Archer, 21, 5-foot-11, 190 pounds
He's a speed guy and he can fire a blistering shot. He's not exactly a defensive forward, so you won't see him on any shorthanded units.

Third Line
LW 17 Daniel Lessard, 18, 6-foot-1, 200 pounds
Questionable puckhandling skills and sometimes poor decision making with the puck keeps him from one of the top two lines.
C 19 Brandon Paradis, 20, 6-foot-3, 215 pounds
He's pretty much a size player, but he does well on faceoffs and can distribute the puck. He only scored four goals in his most recent junior season.
RW 24 Gabriel Legault, 19, 6-foot-2, 200 pounds
He's a little bit on the lanky side and is better as a speed player although he's not exactly sure with his shot.

Fourth Line
LW 28 Alain Berube, 22, 6-foot-3, 220 pounds
This is the checking line and he does exactly what it says on the tin. Perhaps a bit too aggressively.
C 26 Hugo Bertrand, 21, 6-foot-5, 240 pounds
Speaking of checking, Bertrand is a hulking presence, although he's not exactly an enforcer type.
RW 61 Lukas Bilodeau, 20, 6-foot-2, 215 pounds
If there's a fight to be had, Bilodeau is the first Sarzonian to jump into it. He's here to chew gum and kick arse and he's all out of gum.

As there are less technical advanced athletes (sometimes called cyborgs, but of course they are not that, really) as before in the team and many athletes have been trained on the sea territories, the technical staff are now only there for the equipment and the medical staff changed mostly to doctors from the isles and ships from the Pirate territories.

As they are used Summer and Winter, it is a good fortune that nudity is mandatory in Kriegiersien. Many athletes know to exercise in the cold without clothes and the thin jerseys at the Olympics are no shock to most.

Curling women
For the thirtieth time the Kriegiersien Silver Girls, who now even play under this name after leaving their former club Candlekeep and building their own team, won the Kriegiersien championship and qualified for the women's contest in Curling. The seniors and multiple Olympic medal winners can’t be stopped.

Curling Men

Failed to qualify
A surprise was not that team Power Hamster, sentient giant Hamsters from the Underdark, won the men’s competition, but that one of their players is a human ex soccer player, Groninger Koek, who replaced Tree Hamster, who was eaten by a giant Rat Ogre in the Underworld.

When the best male Beach Volleyball players heard that a lot of money awaits Olympic medal winners and that an ice cold challenged is needed, most were immediately turned off, shivering.

So some mixed amateur players from the north finally took the place as Kriegiersien champions.

When the best female Beach Volleyball players heard that a lot of money awaited Olympic medal winners, a hard qualification contest broke out. In the end a team was formed out of 4 players who not only are Top Volleyball Players, but survived a many cold challenges.

Full Nation Name: Monarchia Diarcesium (The Monarchy Diarcesian)
Trigram: DCS
Demonym: Diarcesian
Team Nickname: The Phylakes
Chrysolyncophorus (Flagbearer): Raylee Owen (Women’s Snowboard Cross)
Anthem: Diarcesians Here, Now, and Forever (lyricless)
Monarch: Phlegomy
Archon of Sports (de facto): Adrast, King of Chiyginia and Heptarch Diarcesian
Head of the Olympic Committee: Henry Gorch
Head of Mission: Meonias Janus Constant
Chef of Mission (Executive Cook): Stamira Chaudhri
Debut Appearance: Summer XIII Olympiad

Before a match, Diarcesian athletes trying to gain fate's favor move their arms to a downward slanting position towards their right. They would then raise their right hand to meet their left. Afterwards, the left arm is raised, slanting upwards, to their left. Sharing its history with the Diarcesian salute, its origins can be traced to a traditional religion in the southwest portion of mainland Diarcesia. Those who venerated the so-called Dragon Reborn offered a very tough and inflexible stone, of similar appearance to reptilian scales, at a personal shrine under a waning moon.

Somehow grabbed second place in the 16th U18 World Cup, so that's cool. Football team is a bit wack, basketball team is doing better.

The Sarian (TSA) Delegation to the 16th Winter Olympic Games

Olympic Sign-up

General Information

National anthem: Onze Volken (to the tune of the 'Thaxted' section of Gustav Holst's Jupiter)
Saari Olympic Committee Chair: Lukas Kindvannikolas (former Saari Chef de Mission to the 14th and 15th Summer Olympics)
Chef de Mission: Elisabeth Hertogin (former Olympic Equestrian gold medalist)
Flag bearer: Elijsbeth Krosoe (Speed Skater)

Kit description: When competing Saari athletes wear white outfits with detailing in green and bronze. Helmets are green. Outside of competition, kit such as puffer jackets, track tops and jumpers are green with two thin, vertical stripes in the upper torso. Where white would clash with other competitors (for example, in team competition), a green kit with white detailing is available as an alternative.

What's in a name?
The Sarian is the common English title, with Sarian, The Sari Union, The Saarian, Saria or The Saari Union variants of decreasing commonality.
De BondSaari (literally, the Union Saari) is the common native title, with increasing use in English.
De Bondtlanden van de Saari (literally, the United Lands - often translated as nations - of the Saari) is the full official title.
Saari or Sari is the demonym, though Sarian is occasionally used by some foreigners.
The names all refer to the Saari people - an ethnic group united by The Saari Union.

National Ice Hockey Team

Of all the Cordian teams, this is probably the best relative to their competition. Coming off a quarterfinals run in the last World Cup of Hockey that featured Cinderella fratricide against Le Choix, followed by an unlikely win in a massive snowstorm against hosts Quebec and Shingoryeo, the North Stars lost a close game to Siovanija and Teusland to close out their run. That's not even mentioning their incredible finish in the group stage; victories in the last four games, including a 2-0 win over Cassadaigua, coupled with Chromatik losses in each of that nation's last four, put the Cordians into the play-ins. So while this team is pretty good, they've also been very fortunate. We'll see if they can pull off another magical run in the Olympics.

SYSTEMS:

OOC: These are more guidelines than rules, but if you ever want to talk about systems and how you plan to counter them, here they are.
Forecheck: ABC sounded dumb last time. We'll just call it the Cordian forecheck this time around. Much less elementary. One player pressures opposing defensemen while other players cover all other players so that the other team is left with no options.
Image

Even Strength Defensive Zone: Below the tops of the circles is man-on-man play; above them is zone play. Important: If an opposing player moves from above to below or vice-versa, coverage changes.
Image

Breakout: Pull-system breakout, used to create either defensive panic or a 1-on-0 advantage. The weakside winger begins skating as soon as they see puck possession is theirs; strongside wing and center set up in typical breakout procedure, with the added option of a speeding weakside winger.
Image

Powerplay: The 1-3-1. The idea is to get either a shot from the slot, a cross-ice pass for a shot, or a shot for a rebound and a scramble in front of the net.
Image

4-man Penalty Kill: Box or Diamond, depending on the opposing powerplay system. The idea is to not overcommit so as to not allow shots from the inside; shots from the outside are unavoidable.
Image

3-man Penalty Kill: Triangle or Right Triangle, depending on opposing powerplay system. In a Right Triangle, rather than the point player moving back and forth during perimeter passing, the entire formation rotates, with the opposite defensemen instead moving up, the same-side defenseman moving over, and the point player moving back.

Hockey in Cordia is on par with football (soccer) in popularity. With a robust college and youth system, players often don't enter the league until they reach 22, with a few exceptional cases. The national league is the Cordian Isles Hockey League. The reigning league champions are the Jutland Riveters, with the Jutland Whalers the championship finalists and regular-season champions. Cordian hockey as coached by Kress "Terrible" Thomassen is exceptionally aggressive, trading defensive mistakes for offensive chances, relying on a strong forecheck to keep the puck out of their own zone. Players are expected to play a physical game; expect hits, but mostly to make the play. Petty penalties may happen, especially in rough losses. Oh, and you'll hear plenty of trash talk on the ice. A true Cordian talks a good game. Even inside their own zone, Cordian forwards will cheat up at the first sign of possession, a risky move that leaves men on both teams open and can work either way.

Things to know about Liventia (LEN):
Liventia has two official languages, French and English. Its official name in French is République liventienne (Liventian Republic), although the inaccurate "Liventie" is in common colloquial usage.

Liventia has two national anthems, both in English — if a Liventian athlete or team wins gold, Liventia, Land of Hope is played.

Since the last Winter Olympics, there has been significant change in the winter sports landscape in Liventia, with only a few returnees from Clayquot. Short track star Dylan Lowe and snowboarder Eleanor Millington will share flagbearer duties.

Opening Ceremony flagbearers: Dylan Lowe (short track), Eleanor Millington (snowboard)

The same curling teams have won the Liventian trials, so Liventia will be represented once more by Teams Moreau and Ménard.

Aboveland and Nykipiflugpuu Olympic Team | Overview

Image

Second Winter Olympics Participation

Aboveland and Nykipiflugpuu are two arctic states in the far north of Atlantian Oceania, the former the larger of the two, and the latter an isolated archipelago hundreds of kilometers from the coast of Aboveland. The national symbols and identities of Aboveland and Nykipiflugpuu differ, and though both states have competed as Team Abovian Union in their two prior Olympics appearances, the current political situation in the Abovian Union has prompted the Abovian Olympic Committee to name both constituent parts of the Union in the official name of the Olympic team. For this reason, despite the team being represented by the Samisyyttanflagg of the Abovian Union and the ABL trigram often attributed to Aboveland, *the Samisyyttansång national anthem will not be played in the event an athlete or a team of the delegation wins a gold medal.

Trigramme: ABL
National anthem: none*
Media: Ælunder Nyttispalvelu (radio & television)
Uniform colors: Navy blue, light green, white, and red. The top navy and green half of the athletes' uniforms is separated from the red bottom half by a horizontal white line.
[b]Flag bearers:
Storm Lundgaard and Oliver RItter (two-man bobsleigh; maiden Olympic medalists for Aboveland and Nykipiflugpuu).

Abovian Olympic Committee Chairman: Arne Kuadonvaara
Abovian Olympic Committee Spokesperson: Saara Kivimäki

The archetypal Abovian...
...is calm, unobtrusive, and respectful, and has a steely, dedicated determination to achieving their goals. Though at first glance they tend to seem reserved or introverted, as soon as they have established confidence they turn friendly, talkative and less pragmatic and analytical than their appearances might suggest. Though almost all Abovians are fluent in English, the thickness of their accents and correctness of their grammar may vary. Abovians hate losing, especially after exerting themselves and making considerable efforts, and they are regarded in some circles as mentally fragile.

The normal Nykipik...
...looks quiet from the outside, tending to appear cold, distant and apprehensive, and usually reserves their interaction for their fellow Nykipiks. Sparse contact with the rest of Atlantian Oceania (and, by extension, the rest of the universe) might make them seem odd, peculiar, and often rude to foreigners, though it's simply a product of their inexperience in dealing with the outside world and meshing their cultural norms with others'. They do not reject people who may approach them to speak, but will almost never initiate a conversation with a stranger; much less a foreigner. Unlike Abovians, most Nykipiks speak only their native language, and might manage to make themselves understood with Abovians and other similar Nordic language-speaking people. Their English is usually broken, rudimentary and heavily accented.
