The Pony Principality of Equestria
Official Bid to Host the 34th International Basketball Championships


Resumé
The user behind Equestria is one of NS Sports' most experienced hosts, having run multiple WCC events as well as numerous other lesser tournaments, including two previous editions of the International Basketball Championships.

Format
Group Play
Though it's not yet clear exactly what the numbers will look like for this tournament, I will be looking to use an even number of groups with no more than six nations in each if possible. The group stage will be played in the typical double round robin format in the participating nations with at least the top two teams in each group will advance to the playoffs (third place teams may earn playoff berths if necessary). I'll post a list of more exact format proposals closer to the host bid deadline.

Playoffs & Tournament Play
All playoff and tournament games will be played in Equestria. Teams will be seeded based on their group records, and group winners are assured the top seeds over other teams. Round winners will not be reseeded each round, with the exception of any teams advancing via play-in games. The playoffs and knockout rounds will all be single elimination.
