The Eagle's Club is proud to present Eagles Cup, a modern era re-incarnation of the historic Eagle's Cup. 16+ esteemed nations from throughout the multiverse will compete over 9 Matchdays to lift the Eagle's Cup and earn their place in the Eagle's Club, securing their place as a competitor and potential host in future Eagle's Cups.

Format :: The 16 nations will be split into two 8-team sub-competitions. Each competition will have two groups where 4 teams will play each other nation twice*, once at a stadium of their choosing and once at a stadium of their opponents choosing. The first sub-competition is the Cocoa-bo Challenge Trophy which traces direct lineage to the original Eagle's Cup including the representatives from the Eagle's Club and At-Large entrants. The second sub-competition is strictly invite only, tracing a direct lineage to the Cup of Champions and representing only WCC Sanctioned, Major Event & Select Confederation Champions. From there, the top 2 nations in each group table will advance to the Semi-Final round of each half to be held at an official Eagle's Club location. The winners of these matches will receive a special trophy from the Eagle's Club that also grants the nations honorary status with the Eagle's Club for one competition cycle and advance to the Final of their half. The winners of the Cocoa-bo Challenge Trophy and Cup of Champions will advance to the Eagle's Cup Championship match presented by Cocoa-bo where the winner will be crowned overall champion and granted entry into the Eagle's Club. A third place playoff will also be contested back at the Eagle's Club where medals for the Top Three finishers in the overall will be awarded.

Venues:
Eagles Club, Select and Champions Group stage matches are standard 4-team group stages with Home & Away fixtures. *Regional Groups will see two consecutive 4-team single round robin groups with seeds based on final position in the most recent Champions Cup Confederations Group phase.
Knockout Round Matches shall be played at an official Eagle's Club location with preference to the Eagle's Club facility of the highest Seed unless no suitable Venue is available
The Final for the Cocoa-bo Challenge Trophy shall be contested at TBD
The Final for the Cup of Champions shall be contested at the TBD
The Final match of the competition shall be the Eagle's Cup Bronze Medal match to be contested at The Eagles Club where all medals will be awarded in a final ceremony.

Transportation support for teams competing in the Eagle's Cup is available through the multinational Logistics and Holdings Company CoCoCo. Cocoa-bo, a primary holding of CoCoCo which heavily leverages the CoCoCo Logistics infrastructure has been signed as the presenting sponsor of the tournament and will have traveling Cocoa-bo booths at all tournament venues.

Eligible Participants :: The bylaws of the Eagle's Club denote guaranteed entry for up to 8 Nations into the Eagle's Cup as follows:

Eagle's Club Members - Minimum 4 entrants into the Eagle's Cup via the Cocoa-bo Challenge Trophy
Eagle's Cup Semi-Finalist - Maximum 3 Entrants into the Eagle's Cup via the Cocoa-bo Challenge Trophy
Non-Member Applicant - Minimum 1 Entrant into the Eagle's Cup via the Cocoa-bo Challenge Trophy

Should the Eagle's Club contain fewer than 4 active member nations then the Eagle's Club allocation to the Cup shall be reduced accordingly. The Eagle's Club shall fill these slots with Non-Member nations by means of Selection, Invitation or Application as necessary to fill the field.

Should the previous cycles Eagle's Cup semi-finalists include Eagle's Club members, or, should any of the previous cycles Eagle's Cup Semi-Finalists fail to send a delegation to the Eagle's Cup, the Eagle's Cup Semi-Finalist's allocation to the Cup shall be reduced accordingly. The Eagle's Club shall fill these slots with Non-Member nations by means of Selection, Invitation or Application as necessary to fill the field.

Per established precedent, entry for at least 4 Nations each into the Champions and Confederations Groups may be earned earned via triumph in recently contested World Cup Committee, Major Recognized Competition including the Cup of Champions and Regionally sanctioned Championships with replacement nations to be selected at the discretion of the Eagle's Club Committee.

Manager: Kate DiMarini. Originally from Baker Park and an assistant to the national team there, she then took over at Trebuchet Cham for several seasons, leading them to the Champions' League group stage before she took this job. Named interim manager halfway through WC87 qualifiers, and steadied the course, as Zwangzug qualified to the proper after a rocky start, now full-time. Led the team to a silver medal in this tournament last time out.

Thanks to Ko-oren for the three-trait summary approach.

Goalkeepers:
1. Fedya Troy-Vee (102d Jr.s) (m) (first tournament: WC87 Q) optimistic, fast-paced, loner
12. Helen Pimbura (Canbix Muses) (f) (first tournament: WC88 Q) "snakelike," efficient, crowd-pleaser
23. Ketevan Igreli (Keppal Cosmos) (f) (first tournament: WC89 Q) withdrawn, wiry, wizard

Defenders:
2. Kausalya Vizirani (Namiri Forest) (f) (1 goal) (first tournament: Eagles Cup 8) cosmopolitan, ingenuous, team player
3. Lissa Crain (Baraldhur AFC, Tikariot) (f) (1 goal) (first tournament: WC85 Q) (captain) uncompromising, well-liked, leader
4. Simon Gannett (Canbix Muses) (m) (3 goals) (first tournament: Eagles Cup 9) pugnacious, lofty, sparkplug
5. Akhil Sibal (Energija Chernovets, Siovanija and Teusland) (m) (4 goals) (first tournament: WC84 Q) well-travelled, nostalgic, rises to the occasion
13. Cynthia Fairfax-Hazy (Arlington City) (f) (first tournament: CoH 80) distractible, slender, workhorse
14. Jesse McWhorter (Ephesian FC) (m) (first tournament: Eagles Cup 10) snide, verbose, late-bloomer
15. Jenna Kowalski (Arlington City) (f) (first tournament: WC87 Q) aspirational, deep-lying, mercenary
16. Kirsten Jackson (Twineur Bugs) (f) (first tournament: Eagles Cup 12) disciplined, reticent, experimentalist

Midfielders:
6. Kayla Haugen (Trebuchet Cham) (f) (8 goals) (first tournament: Eagles Cup 10) charismatic, bold, competent finisher
7. Aimee Ginoud-Sachs (Twineur Bugs) (f) (2 goals) (first tournament: Eagles Cup 10) wins possession, bubbly, easy to overlook
8. Esther Axelrod-Conway (Mâ Âlâmëómë, Farfadillis) (f) (11 goals) (first tournament: Eagles Cup 9) fearless, versatile, superstar
9. Nancy Puyo-Sachar (Trebuchet Cham) (f) (1 goal) (first tournament: Eagles Club 11) loyal, mischievous, celebrity
10. Farrokh Sokhi (Namiri Forest) (m) (2 goals) (first tournament: CoH 80) reliable, nimble, creative
17. Hanna Suzuki (Eintracht Trink) (f) (5 goals) (first tournament: Eagles Cup 9) elegant, compact, slow-footed
18. Junia McCue (Arlington City) (f) (5 goals) (first tournament: Eagles Cup 9) blunt, nonconfrontational, inquisitive
19. Nora Kent-Maner (Sporting Esper) (f) (11 goals) (first tournament: WC86 Q) boisterous, disciplined, back-and-forth passer
20. Corey Richardson (Advance Alara, Ko-oren) (m) (3 goals) (first tournament: Eagles Cup 10) neurotic, streaky, wunderkind
21. Lukas Helsen-Roan (Ephesian FC) (m) (first tournament: Eagles Cup 12) adaptable, high endurance, rarely fouls

Forwards:
11. Valerie Waugh (102d Jr.s) (f) (5 goals) (first tournament: Eagles Cup 11) level-headed, pragmatist, uncomplaining
22. Quincy Dulk-Fough (Rovers United) (m) (first tournament: Eagles Cup 12) cynical, frail, survivor

Numbers 1-11 are the most likely starting eleven, but do whatever.

All home games for this tournament will be at the Eagles Club facility in Forbridge.

We have a wiki page where I am slowly migrating information about the team. (Subpage with player details)

Colors: White with black stripes. Or black with white stripes. We go for the basics.

If RPing first, please feel free to name goalscorers, injure, and distribute cards to my players at will! You can also godmod events, though I'd appreciate advance warning if you want to take narrative liberties that I couldn't just as easily do to your team (due to being, e.g., an MT, mostly-human country). Put another way, metaphorical "godmodding" is welcome if clever, but I'd avoid the literal sense. Also, do not cause lasting harm in my country and/or to my citizens without contacting me first.

NEPHARA
World Ranking:
4th-ish
Preferred Formation: 4-4-2
Secondary Formation: 4-3-3
Style Modifier: -1
Home Stadium: The Farham Arena in Sabrefell is reserved for the biggest games, but Nephara is a large enough country that it spreads its matches across the nation.
Kit Supplier: ediraf
Nickname: The Cormorants

From a certain perspective, the Cormorants were deeply unfortunate last cycle, acing their group only to get matched against the World Number 1 in the second round. Yet there's been little pity from the Cormorants' camp; after all, to be the best, you have to beat the best, and if you don't win, well, it's much of a muchness. It will, however, display a return to Kirola after a decade with ediraf.

The Eagles' Cup selection has come to become known, in rather vulgar fashion, as the 'plane crash' squad; to avoid fatigue, nobody selected for the recent Copa Rushmori is made to double up, which offers emerging players and those on the fringes a chance to stake their claim to the World Cup a year down the track.

Overall Record
601 wins - 110 draws - 134 losses
1977 scored - 994 conceded

Trophies
Baptism of Fire 51
Cup of Harmony 61
World Cups 74 and 87
Eagle's Cup 5
4 Cope Rushmori - 30, 35, 36, 37
5 Campionati Esportiva - 6, 8, 10, 15 and 18
Only the second nation in history to achieve the 'Triple Crown' of WCC titles - represented by three stars on the crest.
Second in footballing ability only to 6PupperFunnerRunnies.

Tactics
Image
Nepharan football is based around playing hard, pressing aggressively, playing for keeps. Occasionally this leaves gaps behind the high defensive line, though most Nepharan goalkeepers are in the sweeping mould these days to compensate. Marchers are, by and large, a physically imposing folk, and eager to throw their size around. The footballing culture is intensely competitive, and those that survive to make their way to the top are hellbent on winning at any cost. Elbows to the face. Subtle digs in the ribs. Diving is dishonest when opponents do it but streetwise when Nepharim do it. In short, Nephara are the bully from two years above who picked you, specifically, out as a natural target.

That is often the foreign perspective, but it overlooks a key fact; Nepharan football can honestly be beautiful to watch. Generations of players brought up on dry plains or asphalt play the ball quickly and fearlessly along the ground, never sideways when there's a forward option open, always looking to stretch and probe and stay one really good pass away from a goal. Nepharim are undoubtedly physical, even cynical, but their success has been built off the backs of ruthless, fast-paced passing football.

The Godhead
For home matches, and during international tournaments, Nephara wheels out the 'Godhead', a giant boulder with an eerie resemblance to Gethin Ramsey, first manager of the Cormorants in the modern era and by now long dead. Nepharim have a superstitious streak, and while nobody's saying it is, in fact, the mystic reincarnation of their most iconic leader, nobody's quite not saying it, either. The Godhead is traditionally 'walked' to the stadium by Nepharan ultras using an intricate series of ropes, and often a flare is wedged into its 'mouth' to simulate a smoking cigar.

Staff
Manager - Triffid Ramsey - Age 49
Assistant Manager - Catherine Sedgwick - Age 60
Daughter of the legendary Gethin Ramsey, Nephara's Baptism of Fire manager and (probably) the first manager to take three different nations to the World Cup, but Triffid's eager to get out from under that shadow. A very good but not excellent player, Ramsey took naturally to management and pursues a more modern version of the elder Ramsey's ideals - industry backed by data, athleticism backed by sport science, pace backed by skill. Catherine Sedgwick is a former national team player and formidable manager in her own right, here to offer a steady hand at the tiller and keen tactical mind. Together, they won the World Cup. What else is there to say?

Goalkeepers
1 - GK - Katerina Olexander (Image Myana) - Age 26 - 6 caps, 1 clean sheet
12 - GK - Tanith Arrowsmith (Image Chenoworth Harriers) - Age 26 - 5 caps
20 - GK - Riga Demetry (Image Mar Sara FC) - Age 26 - Uncapped

There's a weird cluster of 26-year olds, bridging the divide between the unapproachable incumbent Aranea Provost, and the next generation's Toxothea Sebring and Medusa Strand. Arrowsmith endured relegation with the Harriers but that was far from her fault, while the outsider Demetry came to promience in Valanora; likely, both will have chances to stake their claim as a backup come the World Cup.

Defenders
2 - RB - Ophelia Schrader (Image Vermillion Rage) - Age 24 - Uncapped
3 - LB - Caracal Page (Image Starling) - Age 25 - Uncapped
5 - CB - Gawain Warden (Image Marinos Metropolis) - Age 27 - 10 caps, 1 goal
6 - CB - Reina Turnbull (Image Kingsgrove) - Age 26 - Uncapped
18 - RB - Syrene Fischer (Image Crisisbless) - Age 27 - 10 caps
19 - CB - Jens Clemence (Image Myana) - Age 25 - 3 caps
22 - CB - Ida Sevet-Stokes (Image AFC Corvistone) - Age 22 - Uncapped

Probably the area to watch, as it's felt like Nephara could do with a defensive shakeup - most obviously, who partners Reniira Clevinger? Reina Turnbull might just be leading that charge, with conventionally physical Warden acting as Clevinger's stand-in; expect the half-Qusmi Ida Sevet-Stokes to also get a run-out, whether in the centre or as a backup to Caracal Page on the left. With Rovena Stride retiring from international football, the battle between rising star Schrader and the more conventional Fischer is also likely to be prominent.

Midfielders
4 - HM - Annika Miller (Image Rozelle) - Age 28 - 18 caps
7 - RM - Kurtis Conrad (Image Starling) - Age 25 - Uncapped
8 - CM - Exene Fletcher (Image Hellinic Rouge) - Age 28 - 36 caps, 7 goals
11 - LM - Isolde Reader (Image Myana) - Age 23 - 7 caps, 3 goals
13 - RM - Jasper Mordecai (Image Aries Chariots) - Age 22 - Uncapped
14 - AM - Rebecca Laskaris (Image Rene Skae) - Age 24 - Uncapped
15 - HM - Feo Tapper (Image Aleiusia Capital) - Age 22 - Uncapped
16 - LM - Lili Marinca (Image Chromatik) - Age 24 - Uncapped
21 - CM - Tasha Sauber (Image Stahlburg City) - Age 22 - 3 caps
23 - AM - Renate March (Image North Laithland) - Age 23 - Uncapped

Annika Miller is a perennial at the Eagles Cup, but hasn't quite seemed the goods for the Cormorants at full international level; Feo Tapper, more a destroyer in the mould of Rashica Horvath, may be the more likely to be on the World Cup plane next year. It's a similar dynamic to the side; again, Sauber is six years younger than tried-and-true Fletcher, with momentum on her side. In the attacking trident, stocks trend inexperienced but talented; Laskaris, who styles herself a takilante, will compete with the more conventional and versatile March, while on the flanks Isolde Reader is the clear highlight, and stands a not unreasonable chance of being Nephara's first-choice left winger in a year... provided Triffid Ramsey is willing to live with a challenge to her own daughter.

Forwards
9 - ST - Gareth Pawnbroker (Image Brigham) - Age 26 - 9 caps, 5 goals
10 - ST - Dauntless Carrick (Image Goodfeather FC) - Age 25 - Uncapped
17 - ST - Alban Pontiac (Image Unioneers) - Age 23 - Uncapped

An odd fit for lone strikers, with neither Pawnbroker nor Carrick the complete package. Pawnbroker is a hulking bruiser who excels at holdup play, but underwhelmed in front of goal last campaign; Carrick is a ruthless and intelligent striker, but inexperienced at the top level and in this role. A survey of Nepharan fans revealed 68% had never heard of Pontiac in their life, and 7% had but did not know he was Nepharan. Nevertheless, his breakthrough campaign gets him a callup, though likely as third-choice.

Home Away

Manager
Didrik Gjedrem
Age: 56
While the Marauders had a disappointing and early end to their run in the World Cup, Didrik's worst showing as the man in charge of the national team, it was deemed his first two cycles in charge were enough of a success that he had earned a one cycle extension. Coming back from that disappointment though was the high of avenging the loss in the regional championship with winning their first AOCAF in nearly ten editions, having the faith fully restored in the former United manager.

Assistant Manager
Kasper Volheim
Age: 42
After a successful trial run with the recently reinstated U21 national team, Volheim was appointed the assistant manager for the senior team as well with the number of youth players that are in the team and pool at large. Having shown to have the capabilities of managing them at Raynor City United's youth team and being a good go between as an assistant in the Di Bradini Cup, Volheim looks to keep up the success rate at the senior level and perhaps be that missing piece to get the team to winning a trophy.

Keeper

1 Isak Helland, Aleiusia Capital Image
Age - 30
Sex - M
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 158 lbs
After earning a big money transfer from Rolalas, Helland has settled in nicely at Aleiusia and is getting starts in important games, making the IFCF competitions and earning their way to the number one shirt for at least the Eagles Cup.

Defenders

4 Claudia Moench, Raynor City United
Age - 27
Sex - F
Height: 6'0"
Weight: 161 lbs
Moench was a late bloomer, though training behind Jager at United definitely paid off with the agile defender bulking up to compete in hard challenges and the speed to recover when she is caught out of position.

6 Armin Freihof, SW Stahlberg Image
Age - 25
Sex - M
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 159 lbs
Freihof is your typical Vanorian defender with a solid amount of pace but lacking a little bit of strength compared to their peers, though with a very good eye for the game leading to being in the right position more often than not.

2 Karoline Wellenbrink, Raynor City United
Age - 25
Sex - F
Height: 5'8"
Weight: 146 lbs
Karoline is an extremely talented fullback with crossing ability that would make some wingers blush, though she will be playing more central for the Marauders, yet you can probably expect her to naturally drift wide and get forward on sustained attacks.

Midfield

8 Daniella Åström, Hondo FC
Age: 23
Sex - F
Height: 5'9"
Weight: 152 lbs
Quietly has become a very talented winger while at Hondo, good season after good season with the owls and racking up assists lets her find her way into the starting team for this edition of the Eagles Cup.

7 Selim Estrada Barrientos, Raynor City United
Age - 22
Sex - M
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 162 lbs
Developed at United, this Bexar born midfielder is a natural box to box talent with stamina for days and the creativity of a playmaking dynamo that has the Rockers starting the midfielder despite their relative young age.

10 Marco Grunewald, Raynor City United
Age - 30
Sex - M
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 156 lbs
A United man from the beginning and has been decently trained and developed from a young age to be a dynamic attacking midfielder. Not the same sort of scoring threat that Laborious Hawk brings to the position, but he can still bang one from those late runs into the box and getting on the end of set pieces.

5 Götz Konstantin, Bastion Image
Age - 25
Sex - M
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 167 lbs
Having been groomed by the Eura league, Konstantin is a formidable ball winning midfielder with a good amount of toughness to his game and enough creativity to be an outlet from the back when called up.

3 Miriam Troegner, Kingsgrove Image
Age - 25
Sex - F
Height: 5'8"
Weight: 149 lbs
You do not survive the Brenecia league without adding a little bite to your game and that is what Miriam has done, even if her dribbling and crossing skill should have her in the attacking third and being a real thorn in the opponents defense.

Strikers

9 Elias Hammer, Lonngeylin Coast Image
Age - 26
Sex - M
Height: 6'0"
Weight: 162 lbs
An agile striker but a clear step down from either Palminger or Ludwig, however what he does have is a rocket for a shot, a bit fitting given his surname, something Elias has grown into as a bit of a joke with his teammates.

11 Hadi Lundström, Raynor City United
Age - 22
Sex - F
Height: 5'8"
Weight: 144 lbs
Lundström has all the skills needed to be an excellent striker, with good pace, a solid first touch, decent dribbling, and above average finishing capabilities, really coming into form with added playing time this last season in United's AOCL and domestic double.

Official Roster for the 12th Eagle's Cup

About Huayramarca: The Plurinational State of Huayramarca, also known as ”Huayramarca Mamallaqta” in Quechua and ”Huayramarca Suyu” in Aymara (literally: Windy Country), is an extraordinarily diverse nation in terms of geography that’s located in Anaia. Crossing three time zones, from the islands, reaching the coast, hiking the mountains and then sliding into the jungle, passing massive cordilleras such as the Andes, a nation with 36 million inhabitants that is composed by 9 different ethnical groups.

Huayramarca as such is a relatively new nation for the traditional standards of it, since it was constituted on 1822 (currently, we sit on 1984 according to the Inca Calendar), the main focus of building this nation was to help different ethnic groups to gather force into the region, in order to be recognized multiversally as a nation, hence, may gather some international protection in case their rights would be abused all of a sudden by an external force.

Being completely ignorant on what was happening on the neighborhood, the Aymara, Quechua, Shuar, Guarani, Montubio, Tsáchila, Huaorani, Andoa and Candoshi ethnics decided to form the Republic with the support of neighboring nations such as the Royal Kingdom of Québec. Migration from Québec happened in the late XIX century, mostly peoples known as ”Guayabalenses” decided to move in order to seek a stable place for their families, considering that their home soil was apparently brushed off the map by a dictator called “Gregory”. That last point forced the Huayramarcans into a stronger union in order to survive.

Until the middle XX century, Huayramarca managed to survive economically from llama, alpaca and vicuña herding, since its skins are highly valuable in neighboring Québec due to their strong winters; also, coffee production helped Huayramarca to build some solid institutions that promoted national expansion near the neighboring Cocoabo Forest, that place is “La Selva”, a lush but quite dangerous forest with hundreds of rivers that come from the Andes. After some years of exploration, the authorities met the first indigenous peoples of the zone, which were exploited in order to produce rubber for tires and some mysterious chickens that were produced to do even more mysterious sacrifices to a deity, which the local people and even the rest of Huayramarca wasn’t able to understand how she works, granted, it’s not even a part of the Incan Mythology which includes Inti(the Sun god) and others.

Said abuses committed against the jungle inhabitants caused a heavy political turmoil around 1950, which formed a divide in the nation that still remains until today: Serranos (highlanders), Costeños (coastals) against selváticos (jungle inhabitants); Those divides weren’t noticeable in economic terms but politically, with constant attempts of coup ‘d etat against the government. That situation caused some issues with the neighboring Québec, who neglected to support financially any of those groups if they don’t manage to cooperate between themselves in order to provide prosperity to a heavily hunger-suffering nation back in the time.

Aymara and Quechua peoples took the power during the remaining part of the 50’s until 1969. On that period, Huayramarca suffered the effects of a severe number of “huaycos” (mudslides) caused by heavy rain storms across the entire Huayramarcan Sierra, those events killed at least 300,000 people and urged for an attempt to reincorporate Huayramarca back into normality, but, how? The main bet of the government was to aim for the tourism industry, spamming the developed nations of Anaia in order to make some tourists visit sacred places such as Illimani (a mountain that’s devoted as god for the Aymara folk), Huayna Picchu (the royal Incan palace for Quechua) and the sun-drenched coast ranging from Guayaquil to Lima (specially Montañita, the best beach par excellence in northern Anaia).

The formula was working decently, since the economy was reporting high growth numbers, but seemed to cause some lack of satisfaction on certain zones of the country, especially on the Jungle. Their inhabitants decided to support the Costeño elite in order to beat the Serrano government. 1969 election would be marked for the Huayramarcan history by the magnitude of the sabotage made against the current government, to the point of bribery or killings for their supporters, those incidents made the Costeño elite take control of government and focus even more on the Coast and Jungle, leaving aside the Sierra.

Currently, Huayramarca has a huge wealth gap between zones, the coast boasts the fact of being the economic engine of the nation despite the fact that the capital city is in the Sierra, while the Jungle is slowly developing with some cities such as Sechura, Florencia, Virú and several others boosted by oil findings and rubber production. Sierra may be in disadvantage, but recent developments in neighboring nations may make them turn relevant once again in the nation, since lithium batteries demand is growing up and Huayramarca’s Sierra possesses one of the biggest reserves of said mineral of the entire multiverse.

Basically, Huayramarca is a nation of contrasts and never—ending conflicts that’s well into the deep borehole named “the natural resource course” a hard situation to overcome due to the lack of proper education, critical thinking and result-focused mindset on the population, that constantly seeks for shelter in entertainment industries such as soap operas, music, and now football. Right now, power struggles between the Costeño government led by Hugo Mina and leftist pro-Serrano social movement “Ñucanchi Ñan”made people more fond into football, since they really needed an oxygen supply in-between a lot of crisis and turmoil that could lead to the radicalization of this conflict, to the point of seeing Ñucanchi Ñan turning into a guerrilla and killing Hugo Mina in 1981 after he wanted to exploit minerals in the Aymara holy land of Mount Illimani, located at the outskirts of Huayramarca Metropolitan District.

Since that, Huayramarca has breathed some fresh air, since Ñucanchi Ñan took power with Marta Mamani as the first woman president of the Plurinational Republic, and Augusto Buendía as VP, Huayramarca is enjoying some social transformations that may cause some shakings on what Huayramarcans were knowing as their daily life laws. Focus in sustainable economic growth, taking care of the environment and visibilization of minorities are the main topics on the political agenda, something that is being well received by many people in the nation. This environment has led to an increase in nationalism, since the national unity is being fostered as a State Policy; sports, especially football is being the main vehicle to promote that sense. As for now, the Huayramarcan Football Federation budget has been increased tenfold in order to aim for success in short-term, also aiming to send players overseas and developing techniques to enhance the player's physical and technical shape.

The latter said efforts aren't stopping despite the meager results obtained by the Condors during the last year, to the contrary, some of those fundings have diverted in attepts to build a football pyramid across the nation and creating a strong network of academies and scouting that might help, in the near future, to recruit some fresh talent that could provide Huayramarca some weapons that might help the nation to achieve their first ever World Cup Finals appearance.

Huayramarcan Football History: As a society, Huayramarcans enjoy sports a lot, especially when politics may turn the nation into a chaos every second, they just want to run away from that horrible and desperate situation and may try luck on football.

Considering the levels of poverty on Huayramarca, many young people may give a shot for football in the chaotic Liga 1 or lower tiers, with the hopes of achieving a decent salary that may help their families to get away from poverty and huayco-prone neighborhoods. Liga 1 has fourteen teams from different parts of the country, mostly focused on the Sierra and Costa regions since those are the most heavily populated ones. The recent decisions taken in the Government and the Huayramarcan Football Federation, where they ended a ban on transferring players to foreign teams, has filled with optimism and illusion a lot of youngsters, that now aim to be another Huayramarcan playing abroad.

Immediately after the HFF creation, the president of the Plurinational State, Hugo Mina (Costeño), thought it would be a great idea to form a fringe squad for the AOCAF and then try to make it into Baptism of Fire or World Cup Qualifiers, hence he asked for Eliezer González (head of the Huayramarcan Football Federation) to try and apply for said tournaments. He sent notes in order to sign-up for those events, but he sent them incorrectly, at AOCAF, he sent it to a grandmother living up near the Andean Organization for Coffee, Agriculture and Forests (located at Cumbayá) instead of sending it to the proper AOCAF tournament organizing committee, which turned González into laughing stock for several weeks in Huayramarca. Despite that, González managed to sign-up properly for the WC, despite he was rejected for BoF because he applied to the “Burger of Fire” and not the Baptism of Fire.

After all, the HFF managed to convince 25 players from the amateur-ish Liga 1 sides to build the National Team, whose nickname is resumed to “Kuntur” (The Condors), all those players ranged from being high school students, to chemists, bus drivers, and even people from the local tavern, whose preference is revealed on how they named their team “Real Ebriedad”, which was later supported by Cristalina, the main brewery firm from Huayramarca. Those 25 players decided to investigate some football techniques and decided to apply them at the different games they played on the inaugural Liga 1 season that was won by Real Ebriedad (in a season where corruption was noticeable as how the referees were given beer instead of an energetic beverage by Real Ebriedad liaisons).

Nothing that would be possible without the support of Omar Caicedo, a Costeño who migrated to Québec and decided to learn some football techniques while managing Beyreuth University, where he won three national titles out of eight seasons on his span with them. Caicedo is a fan of high-pressure football, known as “gegenpressing” or “El Huayco” as Huayramarcans may call if (specially Serranos, since they might be quite shy or sometimes plain dumb that doesn’t like to attack) Anyways, Caicedo’s strategy proved right on some matches played by Huayramarca against their northern neighbor, the Royal Kingdom of Québec, beating them 5-1 at Huayramarca’s Estadio Nacional (located at 4,012 masl only?!…) and tying 2-2 at Iqaluit’s Ice Hockey Rink (that’s what the players thought at playing in a frozen city… ¡Achachay!) If you wonder what’s ¡Achachay! Well, figure out you’re on top of the mountain receiving wind and gelid weather right into you, if you did it, welcome to Huayramarcan’s sense of cold shivering!

Well, coming back to football, Caicedo’s devotion for 4-2-3-1 has been unquestionable, he always loves to boast of having a neat defense, two defending mid fielders that may aim to recover possession when needed, or even having one of them switching to creative duties in support of the team’s brain, Ian Mamani, then, two wingers feeding the sole striker up in the middle of the box. That striker may often go back and try to recover balls and make a power play from himself with support of a winger and then seek for a goal. He did demonstrated a lot during the first part of the World Cup Qualifiers, earning some mixed results during it, but it failed for a part of the second half, where the team accumulated an 11 winless game streak added that they weren't capable to snatch a win during their first eight local games, in fact, their first home win came at the 9th home game, after that, they won three out of their four last home games, earning a 8 games unbeaten streak to finish off the Qualifiers, which was a quite impressive recovery after having their morale smashed on the floor and some players even considered suicide, since they were considered to be a mediocre living fail walking through their home cities streets.

Said streak wasn’t a mere happening, it was somehow a confirmation on how the Huayramarcan National Team had turned into a squad that tried to consolidate themselves as a hardworking team, with limited chances to put some squads in troubles but capable enough to defend well and to avoid harm being done against them. The Cup of Harmony 77 was an interesting test for the team, to see if they are capable to handle out the nerves of what it implies to be struggling for a knockout spot until the last second of the last match, which is what happened to the Condors, since they tied their first three games, they had a chance to get into the last rounds but they had to face Port Ember, the top seed of their group. Huayramarca succumbed to the nerves and wasted a 2-0 lead to see how Port Ember scored five goals in quick succession, nothing more to do for a Huayramarcan squad that seemed capable to pull off a decent feat.

The AOCAF 60 saw how a somewhat forged squad perform against the top dogs into their region, a path that won’t show immediate results and may fuel some anger amongst the Huayramarcan populace and media, but, the patience of Omar Caicedo and his pupils is being determinant in order to see if this generation profiles themselves to be somehow relevant. A 1-7 against Equestrian States, followed by draws and a win, helped the team to gather some confidence, despite the terrible beginning on said championship.

A spectacular beginning on World Cup 86 Qualifiers helped the Condors to finish 4th in the first half of qualifiers, being two points below the second placed squad, but defeats against top dogs such as Ko-oren and Tequilo killed the desires of this national team to qualify, also, instigated by poor performances against low and other mid-ranked nations boosted that debacle. The Cup of Harmony wasn't different to the end of the World Cup Qualifiers, it was in the same shape, defeats, defeats and pressure on the squad due to the fact that they were worried on what was happening on Huayramarca, due to the death of Hugo Mina, uncertainty arosed and caused the players to have a subpar performance in the tournament, despite a late win that turned to be the first ever one for Huayramarca in the Cup of Harmony.

With the latest investments made by the Huayramarcan Government to the Huayramarcan Football Federation, by multiplying tenfold their budget, the HFF has now sent the managerial staff of the Condors to other nations, in order to gather new ideas and apply those in order to build a competent side in tactical terms, with the main purpose to achieve World Cup qualification for the first time as soon as possible and provide that joy to the Huayramarcan folk. That heavy investment provided some benefits during the 87th World Cup Qualifiers, where Huayramarca left behind the label of being an "uncomfortable rival" to take a protagonic role in their group, finishing second, behind Audioslavia, with a solid 40 points in 18 matches. Things in playoffs might be forgetable since the beginning, since Huayramarca didn't took advantage in the first leg despite playing home, tying with Tikariot and then being defeated heavily at the second leg (1-4), made the Condor's illusions of WC Qualifying end horribly.

Despite the downturn in the team's mindset, the team faced some struggles at the Cup of Harmony group stage. Being defeated by Mriin at the first game, defeating Garifunya 1-0 and then tying against Ibixa for the second time in the cycle sent the Condors to the Knockout phase of CoH for their first time ever, Xanneria was a hard rival for the Round of 32, Huayramarca's miracle run was about to start with a narrow 2-1 win over them; then two rock-solid performances against Saint Domingue and a well-known foe from the WCQ Group (Sargossa) with a 3-1 and 2-0 respectively, put Huayramarca among the best four sides in the Cup of Harmony. Being defeated by Mriin with a hard-fought 2-3 and then once again a 1-4 against Newmanistan were enough to confirm Huayramarca as the 4th placed side, with desire to improve their performance in this World Cup Qualifier, hoping to achieve heights that they haven't reached ever before, this, as a way to lift their mood after a quite discrete participation in the last AOCAF, where they won only one time, tied two and were defeated two times.

World Cup 88th would prove to be an interesting situation for the team and fans overall, Huayramarca would have a rather forgettable first half of the qualifiers, with a 6-game winless streak that became a ballast enough to keep the team away from the Top-3 during the entire Qualifier. Despite that, with an affected morale, the team tried to struggle back in hopes of a miracle, something that didn't happened but made the team finish the cycle with a rather strong 7-game unbeaten streak that prolonged to the Cup of Harmony and through the beginning of CAFA, being then a 13-game unbeaten streak, hence, the longest period that Huayramarca has ever enjoyed without a single defeat. Despite being eliminated from CoH at Round of 32 in AET and then in CAFA Group Stage, the team has managed to recover their path with a decent ending for a cycle that seemed to be catastrophic to say the least.

Life may repeat some of their lessons if people doesn’t manage to learn from them, the Huayramarcan National Team enjoyed their best start ever in a World Cup Qualifier, nine goals for and one against in the four first matches, the team was displaying a defensive strength unknown for many fans, they continued the path by defeating Squornshelan Remnant States and Nephara in important matches. “It was too good for being real” said many fans, and Tumbra proved them right, as they grounded the Huayramarcans at the Estadio Nacional with a painful 0-3, so painful that marked a steady decline of the team for the second half, as the team got a succession of draws and defeats that sent them from the top of the table to the fifth place in a span of four matchdays.

As the team tried to recover with some wins, Squornshelan Remnant States slapped seven time the Huayramarcans and the crisis turned visible. Desperate attempts of the team to pull off a comeback seemed to work as they got a solid victory against Delaclava, and despite being defeated by Nephara, results worked for the team; but the time came and the team wasn’t able to held favorable scores against Martune and Tumbra in a direct duel that ended in a sore 1-1, as the Huayramarcans were eliminated with said score line. Someone had to pay the broken dishes, Northwestern Kalactin was that someone, Omar Caicedo used an alternative XI and shifted to a more offensive version of “El huayco”, enough to achieve the largest win of the Huayramarcan National Team, a 5-0 victory that did nothing to comfort fans and Omar Caicedo itself.

The sequels of this elimination shook hard Omar Caicedo tactical foundations, as he noticed that something was failing and that led to multiple reformations such as the Huayramarcan Football Federation lifting a ban for Huayramarcans to be transferred abroad, resulting in six players going to different leagues in order to gather more experience among the big leagues, new tactical movements and athletic development for themselves; also, there’s a possibility that “El huayco” might be reformed into a more offensive version of it, as the team failed to convert severe number of goal occasions into goals, hence, there’s a belief that the team needs a deeper attacking mindset.

Chances are that this Cup of Harmony would be his laboratory to test said idea, which resumes in pushing forward the defensive lines for 10 meters, connecting the midfielders and wingers more with a lone striker in order to accompany him in goal creating opportunities, or perhaps converting the wingers into strikers when needed. Caicedo has pressure behind and he must deliver before the Huayramarcan Football Federation considers it’s too late.

Anyways, Huayramarcan football stills being distinguishable on how prone are they to do long range shots, due that they are used to play at significant heights, the lack of oxygen may make the ball travel further without applying a lot of strength during the mechanics of kicking the football, that is known as the “Andean Effect” and may cause serious troubles for visiting sides on Huayramarca, adding the main fact that breathing might be harder for those used to low altitudes.

Without further ado, the starting XI and substitutes are presented in the following tables:

Team mentality: Huayramarcans, per se, are bold and quite diverse between the team due to the regional contrasts among them: You might note some surnames such as: Condori, Mamani, Quispe, Sayritupac, etc. Those are Serrano surnames. Serranos as such are quite shy people with non-serranos, between them, great footballing societies may be made due to their complete understanding of each other, they are quite homogenous on how they act and may be predictable for each other. But, for the non-expert eye, Serranos are one on their kind and could result unpredictable for them, since they love to do things at fast pace between them, without doubt one could send a 60 meters cross with complete confidence that they might find their teammate, with this, you can notice that Serranos are overconfident on themselves and somewhat dubious with Costeños and Selváticos. Other characteristic of Serranos is that they are quite easy to intimidate, being shy and short-sized doesn’t helps, but in that situation, they might opt to act even better than they do for the sake of shutting your mouth.

Costeños and Selváticos (jungle) in the other hand are confident with everybody, even if they might not receive the same treatment by their Serrano fellows. Those two groups conform the rest of the team and might do good societies on field, declining the quality of their chemistry when trying to connect with Serranos, due to the latter shy mood. Physically speaking, Costeño and Selváticos are people who boast being the tallest overall in the team, also, their mania for body preparation at gyms make them suitable to defensive duties and running on the wings since they love running crazily (they usually do that, since they are used to run away from police or a mob of angry Serranos after robbing).

Chemistry building has been somewhat complicated for this team during the five cycles they have competed together, but has been a rather successful process that consolidated with the 79th Cup of Harmony, the 88 th and 89 th World Qup Qualifiers, as they have been together as glue through high and lows. The regional divides topic is now a thing of the past as the players have grown up significantly, they have learned that teamwork is essential to achieve success as Huayramarca desires in the multiverse of football, but there are some things that need to be polished in order to see the Condors reaching new heights.

Although they work nicely as a team, there’s a moment when they can’t do that and that moment is when they have the goal in their sights, when they have a chance to score, they try to do their best to do it by themselves, even if that means avoid passing the ball to a better placed teammate, individualities have been surging from nowhere and this issue has costed valuable results for the team. Omar Caicedo and his managerial staff has been trying to combat this, but as of now, his attempts haven’t worked at all; despite the results, he has a last hope in the shape of the ban lifting for Huayramarcans to access foreign leagues, perhaps the pressure and requirements out there, and the fact of being submerged into a new mindset might help the players to be more pragmatic.

To finish with this part, Huayramarca is that kind of team that may be overconfident sometimes, but if you press them to their limits, they might react in unsuspected ways, be those positive or negative for their interests, you don’t know what would happen in the Serrano, Costeño or Selvático mindset. As they do on the local league, they might try to do some antics to their rivals, be it: providing beer instead of water to their rivals, or the classiest one, giving distillated “ayahuasca” (vodka-like alcohol) and pass it like water and make their rivals be drunk, taking advantage of their influence to beat the rival team. Of course, they might not abuse of this resource, Serranos might ask Inti for it.

Game Scheme: Caicedo aims to use always a 4-2-3-1 scheme that he dubs it as “El huayco” (the mudslide) due to an analogy he made of his team with such a devastating natural phenomena: “We aim to build a fast team, aiming to be unpredictable for the others while using our regional paradigms in our favor. The less known we are, the more lethal we could be and that’s why I love not having a specific plan.” That’s what Caicedo wants to use, but in reality, there are some hints to analyze what he loves to do with his teams, especially on Beyreuth University of Québec.

El Huayco is a style of play in which you look to win back the ball as soon as you lose it, and you try to win it back as high up the pitch as possible; that means you’re closing down a lot to put pressure on the player that's just won the ball back.

The idea is that the player who just won the ball will be vulnerable and won't have time to think about his first pass. You just close him down to win the ball back quickly as high up the pitch as possible, and then you initiate a counter attack. You're likely already half way there and ready to go past into space and score a goal.

You can also use this tactic to target specific weak players, if you have noticed a weakness in a certain team. Maybe central defenders or full backs aren't comfortable on the ball, and you can look to press and close down certain individuals to try and make the most out of this game pressing style.

Caicedo has done some arrangements to this style considering the fate suffered during the World Cup 88 and 89 Qualifiers, as he now has pushed off the defensive lines closer the half of the pitch, being almost close with the midfielders’ line in order to exchange passes, reinforcing creation duties in the midfield and gaining extra protection in case the team losses the ball. The wingers now have a protagonist role as they might venture more often in attacking duties, transforming their roles to be strikers when needed, so, Huayramarca could have a 4-3-3 scheme at certain moments of the match. The midfielder would have three options to supply balls, and the striker wouldn’t be alone for that moment, so if he struggles, he might collaborate with the “false strikers” and assure more precision for goal chances.

For the last purpose mentioned, Serranos are heavily important, they might be the analogue of a dog felling your fear and then attacking, they as collective love to use their different point of views and implement them as one while attacking, then fast passes and maybe a long-range shot may happen, especially if the team is playing on the highlands. If the team is playing on the coast or jungle, they might seek to control the ball and make the rival team run behind the ball for some time, in order to cause climatic exhaust on them, since coast and jungle are hot and terribly humid in this part of Anaia, so it may pose a real challenge for teams not used to play in such conditions.

To achieve Caicedo’s main goal, there are several prerequisites for successful counter pressing. The decisive factor is the overall positioning of the team and their playing style right before attempting to counter press. The players must play as close to one another as possible so that they can press together as a unit right after the ball is lost – which is a given in short passing football. At the same time, they should not stick so close to one another that they neglect to cover enough space. Usually, a good layout in possession and a good shape behind the lost ball go hand in hand.

Some trainers use the basic rule of thumb to “occupy the fewest possible zones with individual players, but the greatest possible distance between the players within those zones so that they don’t occupy the same space” to make the positioning simple to understand; although, with a rule of thumb like this, some aspects are lost in terms of complexity.

Many teams also have problems deciding when to stop pressing, for example, when we stop pressing if we can’t win the ball back? When should we retreat? How long should you press and with how many players? This is particularly problematic because the position of the ball is always changing. Therefore, there is a theory created by Caicedo – the five second rule. Immediately after losing the ball the team should press at top speed and with maximum intensity for five seconds.

If the team hasn’t recovered the ball within five seconds and there is no chance of immediately winning it, they should fall back into their defensive formation. Depending on the team, the number of seconds may vary. It is recommended that the strategic basics of “El Huayco” be coached in order to develop a flexible, situation-specific length of time for counterpressing.

For scorination purposes, set the style modifer of Huayramarca on +4.30.

The Kits: Huayramarca’s social mindset is to aim for local consumption in the long term, hence the HFF decided to hire “eva Sportswear” to manufacture the kits for the national team. “eva” decided to take the ball out of the park with some unique designs for Huayramarca, reflecting the national identity and adding up some motivational phrases on them for mere sake of marketing. Those kits are based on the geography of this nation, from the coast, to the highlands and jungle in order to promote a sense of national unity, especially on a stage that the national team might try to do something decent in their first World Cup Qualifiers venture.

As backgrounds, you might notice some decent spots that Huayramarca has to offer, such as Uyuni's salt lake with some astrophotography in it, Huayna Picchu's monument to Inti (Sun), Lake Quilotoa (an old volcano near the city of Tulcán), Puerto Odriozola at the San Carlos Islands, the Ojos del Salado Volcano with a lavender field and then, the second flag of the Plurinational Republic, the Wiphala, a representation of the old Incaic glory of Huayramarca and banner of the Aymara and Quechua nationalities.

“eva” decided to depict elements that provide some sense of pride and national identification for Huayramarcans, no matter where are they from, those are universal icons of what Huayramarca is and its roots. Strong roots, strong legacy, and strong people forging their future with pride and hope.

Players description - Starting XI.

Nota bene: Caps considered after World Cup 89 Qualifiers - For national purposes, friendlies are never taken into consideration for official registries.

N°1 - Juan Mamani - GK - 26 yrs - Team: Rülândéá Kôstä Image - Height: 1.88 mts - Caps: 147 - Goals: 1

Mamani is an individual that believes he always is right, he tends to be creative when saving balls of creating some innovative ideas to take the ball forward, based so much in the fact that he is protective, spontaneous and loves to be independent in his actions. Currently, his mood is over the clouds as he was recently signed up by the Farf side of Rülândéá Kôstä, now Juan expects to have experience at the highest level possible and learn techniques that might help the Condors sometime. A curious fact is that he’s brother with the creative mid of this team, Ian Mamani. He also has scored a free kick goal against Greater Lausitz, that goal helped Huayramarca to get their first ever victory at home soil on World Cup 85th, matchday 18th.

N°2 - Kevin Quispe - RCB - 23 yrs - Team: Farrenton Athletic Image - Height: 1.75 mts - Caps: 146 - Goals: 5

A pretty average guy in terms of intelligence that has no life plan, hence he left studies in order to make a living with football. He is very secretive, doesn't likes even to tell his teammates what will be his next movement because he knows we will be wrong, Quispe has serious issues with anger management and may be rebellious, he is cold and ignores what the others might feel or think about him, he doesn't give a fu*k of anything. Anyways, he's flabbergasted by the fact of moving to a better football league, this time he adventures into Eura to defend Farrenton Athletic. Quispe is now an historical player by the fact of being the first Huayramarcan player to move to another country twice to play football, that experience earned in Taeshan could prove useful for his new experience.

N°4 - Carlos Vilca - LFB - 27 yrs - Team: Valnohar Rovers FC Image - Height: 1.78 mts - Caps: 144 - Goals: 9

Vilca exemplifies the stereotype of a Serrano, he is overly analytical and optimistic, with some patience when a player might approach to him, he might take some minutes to make a mental profile of who he will face and how to block him in its right side. Despite being coordinated and loving to be the center of attention, he loves to be quiet and solitary with his own personal code of conduct, he might be extremely fair while robbing balls and could try to be the surprise factor, since he tends to be a box-to-box player that loves to defend and also create offensive plays when possible. Right now, he’s not in his best personal moment, as his performance declined during the last part of the World Cup Qualifier, as many fingers are pointing him as the main cause of severe goals that caused Huayramarca to falter during the World Cup Qualifier.

N°6 - Felipe Fernández - RFB - 22 yrs - Team: Vogsphere United Image - Height: 1.85 mts - Caps: 147 - Goals: 8

Pipe, as known by his teammates is an extremely intelligent right fool back that adapts quite quickly to any situation he might face, he loves being orderly and hates mess. When playing, he is straight-forward and might argument with rivals, referee and even his teammates, he rarely praises others and values learning from experience. Said experiences have helped him to evolve into a solid stalwart for Omar Caicedo in the Huayramarcan defense, even helping to score few but decisive goals for the Condors against top rivals; now, he has been called up Vogsphere United from the Squornshelan Remnant States to defend the team, in what surely will be a great experience where Fernández will learn incredible lessons.

N°14 - Santiago Chumacero - LCB - 26 yrs - Team: FC Atahualpa Image - Height: 1.81 mts - Caps: 147 - Goals: 10

Chumacero's perception of things might be out of this world, his mind might be some steps forward the others and might help to anticipate to some movements that may be done by the rival. For that purpose, he's always flexible, active and plays like he would be killed if he does a mistake, he's loyal with his team, faithful and gentle, hence he might be the motivator of the squad. Chumacero is an extremely reliable player and it would be matter of time to see him departing from the Huayramarcan Liga 1 for a better place, as his athletic capabilities are too big to stagnate in an amateur-ish league.

N°17 - Orlando Mina - CM - 23 yrs - Team: Montréal Koreana Image - Height: 1.95 mts - Caps: 145 - Goals: 8

One of the two defensive mid of the team, being the classical Costeño out there, Mina is the tallest and strongest player of the squad. Mina's attitude is being original and stubborn, giving you some classical Costeño vibes, consistent in his performance and devoted to God, he cares a lot about what he does, since he tries always to correct his mistakes and not suffering on them, instead, he uses them as feedback to improve his game and abilities. Mina's a great example on how one can benefit from football, as he helped his mother who was fired from his job when he joined to the Condors and turned her into a real estate tycoon by providing her some savings, adding the fact that he now will be playing for a decent side such as Montréal Koreana has boosted up his mood after having some depression due to the last WCQ outcome.

N°11 - Ian Mamani - CF - 23 yrs - Team: Workers Union Image - Height: 1.65 mts - Caps: 146 - Goals: 22

The youngest of the Mamani brothers in this team, along with Juan, Ian has what Juan might lack sometimes, creativity and brightness, although they play in totally different positions and roles in the team. This creative mid and captain of the team is one of the big things among this team, a fast-paced and fussy person with lots of potential, euphoria that drives him to perform as what he can do, being the best of the entire nation in his role. Large crosses are his specialty, including long-range shots when playing on the highlands. Right now, his euphoria level has increased a lot, considering he got called to play at the Workers Union of Eura, the fact of being called captain and being on the international TV screen for WCQ and weekend matches that any random Huayramarcan broadcast fills him with motivation.

N°8 - Nicolás Allauca - CF - 28 yrs - Team: Anomalies Image - Height: 1.80 mts - Caps: 147 - Goals: 16

Nico was a bus driver until the last three weeks prior to WC 85 Qualifiers, when he decided to enter to the amateur football world of Huayramarca, he was in luck that Caicedo watched him plat and fell in love on how he performed. Allauca is spontaneous and may not like to do training, he is a fast-moving and extremely practical (hates theories) defensive mid, that may mutate to a second creative mid with Ian Mamani and has also a decent capability to score goals while going to attack. Allauca is blunt, might hurt you with his eyes and ignores rules, he might be dramatical when somebody tackles or fouls him, in order to make that player get sent off of at least yellow carded. Nico is pleased by his performance as of late with Anomalies, but unsatisfied as he hasn’t been as determinant as he used to be with the Condors.

N°7 - Abraham Mendoza - LF - 24 yrs - Team: Huayramarca FC Image - Height: 1.63 mts - Caps: 146 - Goals: 14

Nicknamed “El Ingeniero” The smallest of the entire team, Mendoza is a mentally strong individual who loves to work hard, play hard and also be a strong leader inside the team in terms of order. A competent but realistic player who may not be spectacular while playing on the wings, but pragmatical and effective when achieving his purposes. Perhaps, on his personal life he is the best positioned of all the group, since he just graduated in Industrial Engineering at the Huayramarcan Technical University with a deserved "summa cum laude", so no matter what happens, he could get a decent job position in any Huayramarcan enterprise to optimize their processes. You might notice how Abraham's personal discipline is, and this is translated even to football, where he tries to compliment some weaknesses that he may have as his height, but he tries to compensate with some decent body-building routines. He might not be a prolific scorer for the standards of a winger, but he has at least a 35% of assists for the total of Huayramarcan goals scored during the Qualifiers, hence, somebody to take care of.

N°21 - Gabriel Sayritupac - RF - 24 yrs - Team: Valnohar Rovers FC Image - Height: 1.75 mts - Caps: 151 - Goals: 44

Sayri as he's known by many people in his native Tulcán (near the Québécois-Huayramarcan border) is an artistic person in all senses of his life. Usually, he makes a living by painting portraits of people visiting the Chimborazo National Forest Reserve, sometimes working on a local brewery or doing some football for fun. He doesn't stands being alone and might be that easy-going Serrano (which is weird, if we come to think it). He has some genetic problems that makes him quite prone to injuries, and when those occur, Sayri decides to get inebriated to let frustration go away. A dirty antic he has is that he's well known for giving alcoholic beverages to the rivals instead of water, he has developed modified ayahuasca in order to make it feel and look like water, which has fooled some teams. Keep an eye on him!

Despite that, Sayritupac is a well skilled winger, an antithesis of Mendoza, since he loves to be artistical while dribbling and doing a cross, he might try to do rabonas while shooting or passing and will keep attacking, even more than the usual for a winger like him, he always loves to risk it all. Right now, his mood is high and confident, his departure to the Tikariot Premier League has made him achieve his dream to play abroad and help his family.

N°21 - Bryan Tello - ST - 29 yrs - Team: Metropolis Alligators Image - Height: 1.86 mts - Caps: 147 - Goals: 93

A decently heighted Costeño as forward is always a neat solution for your goal needs, with good pace, stride and also physic abilities Tello is what every team may need for up front. He's factual since he studied Philosophy at the University of Cumbayá, a committed and self-confident man who might be extremely traditional to his striker role, he might seek for some space in order to go front, use his strength and move towards the goal. Tello is a somewhat strong leader among the shadows of the Huayramarcan national team, an outgoing and straight-forward person that could sometimes aggressive since he's prone to be insensitive. He's right now interested in evolving as a legend for Huayramarcan football, something that he is slowly building up with the strength of goals and assists to his teammates and, perhaps, his movement to Metropolis Alligators in Valladares might help him to achieve it, as he might be into one of the best teams as of late in the multiverse.

Substitutes:

Nota bene: In order to have a deeper understanding of Huayramarcan players, take in consideration the following list of personalities for the substitutes. For a better understanding of said list, take time to watch the substitute players list posted again down here and follow the order of said list. The first player on this list, has his mindset reflected in the left of the first row, the second in the right of the first row and then, so on until the last one:

Useful Information and Stadia: Before introducing the stadia, there’s some handy information for away fans who might visit Huayramarca. As said before, this nation has a quite complex geography and some long distances to travel for away fans, since there are only two airports: Huayramarca International Airport, located near Huayramarca Metropolitan District at the highlands, and the Jorge Guerra International Airport in Lima, on the coast. You might need to go up mountains or driving through them which is a complete odyssey due to the risks caused by the Andean geography itself.

People in Huayramarca might be passional about football pretty much everywhere, but more hostile when you go down the mountains, driving to the coast. Down there, if people don’t attack you, weather might do due to the offensive humidity, mosquitoes and heat that may occur there. In Lima, despite being in the coast, the weather is mild and great to play football, but there might be some sandstorms due to the deserts located south of said city. Coastal teams usually play at afternoon, when humidity may suffocate those not used to deal with it.

Same happens at the jungle, but the mosquito issue multiplies thousand-fold, also as humidity caused by constant rains that pass there in their transit to the highlands. Water absorption made by trees cause severe issues with an extremely humid weather, hence jungle teams decide to play often at noon, in order to torture rival teams.

On the Sierra things get worse, since the main problem up there is respiration. For a physical activity like football, people might need some weeks to acclimatize altitude and get an efficient breathing pattern that might supply their physical effort needs. Several cities are above the 2500 masl, even the capital city, which is located at 4000 masl, it doesn’t matters at which time they decide to play, if a team isn’t acclimatized, they will even faint during the game if they don’t have with them oxygen tanks to breathe before the game or if they don’t get some treatment into an hyperbaric chamber.

Stadia are distributed in order to have an equal distribution for regions, considering that there will be twelve local games at Huayramarca, Sierra, Costa and Jungla will receive three matches each one. Each region will receive a high tier rival and then a randomized sort of two other teams in other matchdays. You might contact the Huayramarcan Football Federation (OOC: TG me or shout me at Discord!) in case of more information or solving some needs for your team and fans.
Estadio de la Revolución - Capacity: 40,000 - San Ignacio de la Frontera, Cajamarca.

Tenants: Ministry of Culture and Sports of Huayramarca.
Built in: 1985.
Altitude: 2325 meters above sea level.
Local teams: Audax Cajamarca.
Data: The Ministry of Culture and Sports has decided to revamp the sporting infrastructure across Huayramarca in order to promote football among young people and form, in a near future, a strong Huayramarcan National Team. In order to fulfill said promise stadia were built in significant places in Huayramarca, San Ignacio de la Frontera is one of those sometimes forgotten outposts of the nation yet relevant for trading with its neighbouring Mertagne in the oriental side of the Highlands. Home of Audax Cajamarca, this stadium promises to offer one of the most interesting fan scenes in the nation, as people are more passionated than other places in Huayramarca, considering the heavy influence that Mertagnian football has caused in this place.

Not as high as another venues in terms of altitude, the 2,325 meters above sea level isn't a cipher that should be underestimated, to the contrary, it's still a problematic altitude for teams that aren't used to it, specially on ball shooting and breathing conditions. This stadium is the only one in Huayramarca that uses turf as ground to play, something that could cause issues with visiting teams and also Huayramarcans that might not be used to play here.

CHARTISTANI NATIONAL TEAM
Squad for the 12th Eagle's Cup Relics and Newcomers Consolation Trophy

About Chartistan

The Musicalistic Union of the Cities of Chartistan (Often just Chartistan) is a nation in the region of Sonnel. The capital city, Billboard, is where most of the residents live and work, and is also home to the main governing jurisdiction of the country. Other major cities include Official City, Gaon and Aria.

About the National Team

The Chartistani national team picture varies from week to week as do the Chartistani... Charts. The Chartistani NT was decided by this week's Chartistani Hot Chart, a 100 player index of the top players in Chartistan, the Bubbling Under Hot Chart, a 25 player index of up and comers, and whatever other chart we could find.

The main Chartistani home kit is purple with blue accents, while the away kit is mostly black.

Manager: Doctor Lucas Combbrush
A Musicville district citizen of Chartistan's largest city Billboard, Doctor Combbrush has been part of the Chartistani setup since day 1 as the manager of the national team, having the honor of being player-manager for the World Cup 89 qualifiers and Cup of Harmony 81. After a Cinderella story that led Chartistan to 4th place in the previous Cup of Harmony, knocking out Eagles Club members Banija in the process, the focus now shifts on the Relics and Newcomers competition to earn a spot in next edition's Eagles Cup, all while flying the green, black and white flag as the best team in Sonnel.

Turori National Team

Head Coach: Tarek Edgeli
After spending 3 seasons being trained in Crosaibi at Marine Coast United, Edgeli made the switch down the coast to the Lonngeylin Coliseum for Season 43. While Strike were unable to win any silverware, Edgeli fit straight into the squad as one of the top performing defenders in the entire league earning instant plaudits and recognition back in Turori. Edgeli would be an ever-present in the Turorian squad earning the role of captain as the team advanced to the World Cup Semi Finals for the first time in the nations history at World Cup 81 in the Free Republics and Banija. After a long absence from regional competition, Edgeli, retired from the Turori National Team, would captain the Vilita and Turori National Team during the 60th AOCAF Competition.

After working with the Vilita & Turori National Team for two campaigns including the Olympic Games, Edgeli took on the role of head coach for the Turori National Team during the Eagle’s Cup XIX Competition and after leading the team to a Bronze Medal in the first attempt, returned to coach the team again during Eagle's Cup X. While Edgeli's Eel's came up just short again, earning their second consecutive Bronze Medal, the performance was enough to convince the Football Association of Turori that Edgeli was their coach of the future; relieving long time coach Klailall Tuirma of the Head Coaching duties by promoting Tuirma to the role as Competition Director of the Football Association of Turori while assigning Edgeli to the role of Turori National Team Manager for the World Cup 88 Cycle. In their first cycle as Head Coach of the Turori National Team, Tarek Edgeli led the Eels to their first World Cup Title.

Nickname: The Eels

Style: -1.23

The coaches will select the squad from the National Player pool. Players are listed below, grouped by position and sorted by projection 'Depth Chart' position where the top player listed is most likely to be named the first player selected for that position, and so on. Depth chart positions are determined by performance in pre-cup training sessions, as well as performance and average ratings in the Vilitan League competition and previous appearances for the National Team.

Note 'Caps" are shown are currently on record for Turorian Players on from the start of World Cup 80 due to federation budget re-allocations during this time period to the Cocoabo Enrichment & Enhancement Project (CEEP)

Derizi was trained in the the goalkeeper program at the Eelandii Academy. While in Eelandii, the Youth Team qualified for the IFCF Youth Cup after finishing as Top Turorian Youth side in the Tropicorp Youth Cup. Performances for the Academy resulted in a contract with Sporta Eelandii Senior Squad but the Senior Squad was relegated from the Declasse automatically triggering a release clause for the young goalkeeping prospect. Instead of staying local, Derizi opted to take their talents to Eura joining Revolutionaries as they look to take their career to the next level overseas. Amatopa’s first internationstatal tournament came with the Vilitan Union at the XIV Olympic Games and the youngster would earn a Gold Medal despite not appearing in any of the matches. It was a different situation during the 50th Di Bradini Cup when Amatopa started in three of Vilita & Turori’s 7 matches in route to the championship. Amatopa would also start the majority of matches for the Turori National Team during Eagle’s Cup X where Turori earned the Bronze Medal. On a Domestic level, Amatopa took over as starting goalkeeper for Revolutionaries at the age of 18 and earned Goalkeeper of the Season Honors during EuraLeague 45 after leading Revolutionaries to the Euraleague Title. Amatopa became a World Cup Champion when Turori defeated The Holy Empire to win World Cup 88. Amatopa led all Turori goalkeepers with seven starts in the Qualifying round as well as having started one match during the World Cup 88 Finals.

An'maude was also named Vilitan Declasse Division goalkeeper of the Season for the Season 54. While An'maude was impressive in the Stellar Division, leading Cedniavella to a top-10 finish ahead of rivals Cednia Beach AFC, the Turorian netminder was coerced out of Cedniavella to take over goalkeeper duties at Lonngeylin Coast as the heir-apparent to the aging Cilamara Issah. Was Vilita & Turori's #1 netminder on the championship winning AOCAF 56 squad and is also an Olympic Gold Medalist with the Vilitan Union during the XI Olympic Games. With the close of their career in sight, An'maude would pull one final trick out of their hat. After a loyal career played entirely for one of Turori's smaller clubs, An'maude's dedication to Turorian sport shone through as the #1 goalkeeper for the Eels during the World Cup 88 Finals. An'maude posted back to back shutouts to get the Turori National Team back into the Semi-Finals before victories over Banija and The Holy Empire would bring the World Cup Trophy to Turori for the very first time.

Chartistan warm up for World Cup 90 as the Relics and Newcomers Consolation Trophy for Eagles Cup 12 begin

The Chartistani national team, fresh off their magical run to the Cup of Harmony Semi-Finals, have seemingly all the momentum in the world heading into World Cup 90, with a potential shot of qualifying for the Finals in Baker Park and Vilita. But before the 18 matchday qualification grind can begin, this team, known as the best team in Sonnel according to the KPB Rankings and probably anybody who has seen games from both Chartistan and Drawkland last cycle, will have a 2 to 4 game warmup test against Huayamarca, StrayaRoos and 2 yet to be named opponents from the Confederations Group qualifying procedure, known as the Eagles Cup 12 Relics and Newcomers Consolation Trophy, or as the Billboard Gazette will call from now on, the Relics Trophy.

The Relics Trophy is made up of 2 phases, uniquely named... Phase 1 and Phase 2. Phase 1 is made up of 2 groups, the Newcomers Group, made up of Chartistan, Huayamarca and StrayaRoos, and the Confederations Qualifying Group, made up of the winners of the Copa Rushmori (Sargossa), the Campionato Esportiva (Tumbra), the CAFA Cup for Anaia region members (The Ochre Islands) and the CMFA Melayu Archipelago Cup (Sharktail). Both groups are single round robin, and while the top 2 from the Confederations Qualifying Group will advance to the Confederations Group proper to contend with Valanora (AOCAF Cup champions) and Adab (IAC champions) for 2 spots in the Cup of Champions Semi-Finals, the bottom 2 of said group, as well as the top 2 of the Newcomers Group, will advance to Phase 2, two Semi-Finals and a Final, with the winner qualifying for the Eagles Cup for edition 13. The team finishing last of the Newcomers Group will be the only one going home before Phase 2 can start.

The Chartistani national team being sent to the Relics Trophy, unlike with the 7 Nations Championship, is the strongest 11 that Doctor Lucas Combbrush, along with the Chartistani charts, can assemble, with the notable absence of Adult Royce, who controversially retired one game into Cup of Harmony 81. Mama Coriel will captain the country for all of Chartistan's games during the first half of play, before being sealed up for the 2nd half as Anna Delphine gets the captain's armband and a new player is trotted out. For the Phase 1 games, 2 strikers will replace Coriel in the 2nd half, with breakout star of Cup of Harmony 81 Young Brandonson coming on for the game against Huayamarca while someone new entirely will get her first cap when she steps up in the 2nd half of the opening game against StrayaRoos - One Gabby "Alphafu" Yves from Billboard.

"People have been talking to me about Gabby's skill and especially her attitude", Doctor Lucas Combbrush said in his press conference after announcing the squad, which has Yves in the AJR, the 5 reserves after the Bubbling Under Hot 11. "Something about her giving the opposition the finger every time she scores a goal and reciting the alphabet up until the letter F, which she follows with the letter U. With how fast she's rising in the Chartistani Hot Chart, she will certainly play a role in World Cup 90 qualifying, but I want to compare her with Brandonson to see how much of a big deal she actually is before qualification begins and I have to make my roster."

This tournament's Hot 11 sees the returns of Dollarsigns Ago and Paul McNard, playing rightback and centerback respectively, as well as the captain Coriel. Kyle LaMichael will go in between the sticks for the duration of the competition, as former captain Kimmi Yamjune will play a partnership with McNard, who has alternated between the Hot 11 and the Bubbling Under Hot 11 ever since Chartistan's Wonder Cup run. Rodgers, Exnash and Latte join Plasticium Amphibia in the center of the pitch, the latter of which is another contender for fitting in the striker role like Yves. Delphine will also make her debut for the national team, coming right off of a 4 year absence from playing football. Notable inclusions in the Hot 11 are the "fancy like" Wank Hesky, newcomers John James Yewwy and Walter Walter, and of course breakout star of Cup of Harmony 81 Young Brandonson.

The most notable absence from the squad was Tatertot Crazy, which, before the roster was announced for the Relics Trophy, was a staple in the team, although she found herself in the AJR more often during Cycle 89. "What I have to accept is that Tatertot is going to have a break from the team for the time being as she finds her footing again," Combbrush said when someone asked why she wasn't included. "She might come back for World Cups 91, 92 or 93, but as of the time I'm saying this, she's not going to be in our Cycle 90 plans. She was a good player when she was performing, but it's time to move on for now."

Chartistan's first game in Phase 1 of the Relics Trophy is against StrayaRoos.

Trigram: SRS
Manager: Anne-Sophie Groothuis Image
After a truly shocking run to the AOCAF Cup final, the Black-and-Reds will be moving with new momentum toward World Cup 90 qualifying. Groothuis is now by far the longest tenured manager in the team's history, having now led them through 121 competitive matches (compared to 64 for Bethany Donnell, 31 for Kornelie Tamela, 30 for Lopal Daror, and 19 for Heldir Zaman). By the end of Cycle 90, she likely will have as many matches as manager as those other four combined. The roster she brings will be a mixture of A and B teams, with a few players from the regular lineup, but with several others still clearly selected for evaluation, particularly at the hotly contested positions of striker, midfield, and center back. As always her team will work to maintain possession in order to launch fluid and creative attacking movements.

1 Paiva Shimski 24 She/Her Image AFC Treason
31 Guro Anthonsson* 30 He/Him Image Chalesm
13 Nurul Heiskanen 25 He/Him Image Viltvodle United
In Shimski and Anthonsson, Groothuis has brought along two of her top goalkeepers. Shimski's superb athleticism and reflexes have earned her a move to one of the multiverse's top clubs. Anthonsson, while not quite as spry as his younger counterpart, is absolutely flawless in his positioning, making difficult saves look easy as a result. Heiskanen, while an excellent shot stopper, is a more speculative inclusion, as he's not quite shown the degree of consistency wanted on the international stage.

# Player Age Pro. Club
2 Pirjo Loefgren* 23 He/Him Image Tor
14 Jirar Malgos 27 He/Him Image Galatica
Loefgren has shown impressive potential since first arriving in Chromatika with Alnio before moving to Tor. Malgos, on the other hand, has been a steady, well rounded presence for both club and country for quite some time now.

# Player Age Pro. Club
3 Valda Harkhan 29 She/Her Image South Laithland
15 Suraya Torosian 26 She/Her Image Halebid Warriors
Harkhan is a near certainty to see significant time during qualifying as the Black-and-Reds' back line enforcer. It's a bit of a stretch to say the same for Torosian, a much more finesse-oriented player, but a strong showing here could go a long way toward earning her some time.
Center Backs:
# Player Age Pro. Club
4 Ljuba Bucvarov 26 She/Her Image René Skaé
5 Aryel Ciernik 29 She/Her Image Algolia
16 Jozica Szimon 24 She/Her Image Lublova Reds
18 Blasko Titov 24 He/Him Image Megabrantid
Despite the fact that two are frequent inclusions in World Cup sides, and two were U21 internationals, you could argue that every center back on this roster is here to prove they belong. Deft and confident, Buczvarov has nevertheless had bouts of inconsistency that have seen her occasionally pulled from the lineup. Ciernik, tall, strong, and sensible, could also be accused of being unimaginative. Szimon was once billed as the next Walda Harkhan, a well-rounded center back that did everything well, trouble is she still does it all a bit worse than Harkhan does. Her former Lublova youth teammate, Titov looks set to be handed the starting job at Megabrantid this season, but still has very little on his resume.
Midfielders:
# Player Age Pro. Club
6 Vlart Hedberg 23 He/Him Image Straton FC
8 Mithya Hashemi 26 She/Her Image Anomalies
37 Tyra Volam* 26 She/Her Image Sporting Jaglan
20 Purna Zazagan 25 She/Her Image Aries Chariots
19 Talia Nisarizo 26 She/Her Image South Laithland
Like the center backs, most of the center mids are also here trying to earn themselves future playing time. Hashemi, the beating heart of the Anomalies midfield, is the only one whose spot in the roster is likely safe. Hedberg is hugely promising and built like a tank besides, but will have to do more than simply patrol in front of the back line if he wants to steal playing time from Selvala Tabur. Volam, whose creativity and distribution got her a lot of credit for Sporting's success a season ago, now shoulders some of the blame for their regression. Zazagan, while a creative force with Chariots for a few seasons now, has seemed to lack that signature something to separate her from the rest of the pack. Finally, Nisarizo, latest entrant into the logjam of talent at center mid, will seek to do the same, and set herself apart.
Right Wings:
# Player Age Pro. Club
7 Ikra Yonte 26 She/Her Image Burnaby SC
22 Arttu Ditou 22 He/Him Image Brantisvogan
Yonte, like Hashemi above, doesn't have to worry too much about her spot come qualifying, having been part of the Squornshelan 1-2 punch on the wings for Burnaby for some time now, and fresh off another league title for the Centurions. Ditou, on the other hand, has it all to do. Brantisvogan took steps backward when they'd expected to move up the table, and they needed more from their young wingers.
Left Wings:
# Player Age Pro. Club
21 Jzeovak Vladcik 33 He/Him Image Admiral Storevik
11 Thorgnyr Bondarov* 24 He/Him Image Tropicorp FC
What can be said about Jzeovak Vladcik? The all-time leader in caps for the Black-and-Reds just keeps going, evolving his game to be more of an assist-getter these days, but if he's a step slower these days he makes up for it in guile. Bondarov had a phenomenal season for Tropicorp, and is putting very real pressure on both Vladcik and Lavanya Naqvi, who we will surely see come qualifying.
Forwards:
# Player Age Pro. Club
9 Juljana Chmela 27 She/Her Image FK Arsika
17 Caitrin Ness 26 She/Her Image Northandryun Rovers
24 Lisbet Naumov* 24 She/Her Image Cedniavella
Chmela, a surprise omission from the AOCAF Cup roster, has scored at a torrid pace for Arsika, though consistent success in the league tables has evaded them so far. Ness got some playing time at the AOCAF Cup behind Shehu and Ortan, but clearly Groothuis wants to see more from the beefy power forward. Naumov is a bit of a surprise inclusion, as neither she nor Cedniavella were exactly a power in the Déclasse this past season.

Blue is the first Bostopian-born female player to ever represent her country in an international football tournament. Whilst there have been female managers of the Bostopian national team, Blue was seen as a 'once-in-a-lifetime' footballing talent that the OIFA could find no reason, legally or otherwise, to exclude her from the national team. It was her second goal of the CAFA final which had sealed the Ochres 3 – 1 win over Saltstead with 3 minutes remaining of the 90.

'Home' Stadium

Due to renovations to the national stadium, the OIFA have nominated Breakerview Football Ground (capacity 48,354, fully-seated capacity 44,845) in the capital city of Bellflower (on Mournhow Island) to host matches where the Ochre Islands are the designated 'home' team.

There is rail-style standing room for 15,490 people in the imposing single-tier Strand End, with an additional 82 wheelchair spaces in the front row of this stand alone (normal seats are always available disabled fans and their carers). Where required, the Strand End's fully-seated capacity is 12,674.

Kits & Logo

Home, Away and Third

ImageImageImage

The Ochre Islands kits were designed and manufactured by OchreSport, with input from the Ochre Islands Football Association.
The home kit is a variation on the vertical stripes used by the Ochre Islands during the first CAFA Cup, as well as the Baptism of Fire and qualifying for World Cup 89, which they were knocked out of with a respectable W6, D1, L11 record. The kit has been updated slightly from the victory in CAFA 2, but only to incorporate the new logo design.

The away kit is a contiuation of the 'Anaiaway' theme the FA is promoting, which they say 'promotes peace & harmony and reminds us that whilst we may be in an away kit, the Anaia region is still our home'.

The third kit pulls on an idea from CAFA 2, combining the red of Dracaena Island with the yellow of Grand Ochre. The OIFA hopes to use colour schemes promoting the islands which make up the Ochres in future footballing tournaments. Each island on this kit is displayed in the official colour of the island.

Before CAFA 2, the Ochre Islands Football Association ran a competition to design the team's logo, which was won by a 34 year old man with neither design experience or taste. Fortunately, an update of the design to account for taste was commissioned and outsourced by the OIFA, which is as below. The badge prominently features a 'little mint green hat', which actually commerorates the Ochre Islands victory in the second CAFA tournament.

Image

The Ochre Islands play a possession-based style of football which aims to prevent the opposition from scoring by simply not letting them have the ball. A shorter, slower passing game is preferred, though long passes and crosses will be attempted if it looks reasonably safe. As the Ochre teams improve in quality, this is likely to go from being a defensive outlook to a more attacking one.

National Anthem--"Hear Our Voices Commonwealth"

Nickname--since the end of the 1960's the National Team has been known as "The Bees", a period when the team's uniforms consisted of alternating black and gold hoops.
Previous to that time and subsequently through periods in the 1980's and 90's, the team was usually referred to by the county's national animal, the Elks; the women's National Team were always 'Lady Elks' until the advent of mixed gender play, which was revived during the Jenna Raven Cup and there are still numerous mentions of Elks in the supporters song “We are the Gold & Black”, which currently has close to 175 stanzas.

Colors--Black & Gold (while they are just 2 of the 5 main colors on the flag of Baker Park--Blue, Red and White are the others--black & gold have been closely associated in the nation's consciousness as representative of the country since its founding.)

The Commonwealth of Baker Park National Team make their second appearance in the prestigious Eagles Cup, looking to redeem themselves from their initial foray in the tournament, as well as the failure to advance out of the group stage of World Cup 89--only the second occasion that BP have failed to make the knockouts.

Manager Jennifer Prescott will field the Commonwealth's strongest squad in competition for the Cocoa-bo Challenge Trophy, with most of the players included seeing their first NT action since the 2-1 loss to Pemecutin at the EsportivArena in South Newlandia
As co-hosts for World Cup 90 alongside Vilita, the Eagles Cup will be the starting point for the National Team's preparation in lieu of qualifying ahead of the Finals.

Note: In the Adabian timeline, the Cup of Champions and Eagle’s Cup take place in July-August 2036. Age is as of July 1, 2036.

But mostly you just make me mad
Baby, you just make me mad

Linger on your pale blue eyes

-The Velvet Underground, “Pale Blue Eyes”

Demonym: Adabian (plural Adabians)
Association: Adab Football Association (AFA)

BACKGROUND
They had not planned for this, but Adab’s run to the final of the IAC comes with a perk: entry into the Cup of Champions Confederations Group. Winners of the Cup of Champions would face the Cocoa-bo Challenge Trophy champions for the coveted Eagle’s Cup. Fellow finalists Trolleborg were already in the competition by virtue of having won the Cup of Harmony, so the spot that normally would have gone to the IAC champions was awarded to Adab. Thus they did not need to win the latter competition to enter the Cup of Champions, though they did anyway. Despite concerns about fixture congestion, with the Adabian domestic season starting less than a month after the Cup of Champions and Eagle’s Cup are set to conclude, the AFA agreed to participate.

The roster remains unchanged from that which won the IAC, although it is expected that there will be some changes to the starting eleven to give the usual IAC lineup a rest. Even as tensions continued to simmer in the team and the Adabian public over Alulim Sinmuballit and Emma Arthur’s relationship, the team look forward to do their best in this competition. All eyes are on veteran forward Enlilbani Yargab as he inches closer to breaking the 100-goal mark for country. Sinmuballit and Arthur try to keep it professional on the pitch but some observers sense a growing coldness between them. The meteoric rise of Kastiliasu Akaptaha has captured the nation’s attention, with some believing that he is bound to take over Jushur al-Kufa’s or even Yargab’s spot in the starting lineup soon. Co-assistant manager Rashid Abbas is off to Valanora to manage Adab’s under-21 team in their World Cup but will still help out with senior team tactics and training via video link. Fresh off their victory in Belnegau, manager Saad Kaykali and senior co-assistant manager Inimabakesh Thulus will soon find themselves flying to the Cup of Champions at the head of a team about to come apart at the seams, if the rumors are to believed.

KIT
Image

The national team's kits, designed by Ahmad Enlil (the first President of the Football Association) in 1907, are currently manufactured by Shining Sun Company, owned by Rahman Ashurbanipal, businessman and grandson of Emperor Tizqar III.

STAFF
Manager: Saad KAYKALI - Male – born January 20, 1974 (age 62)
With his real estate company sold to businessman Mustafa al-Taghlibi, Kaykali is once again able to focus fully on his job as national team manager. His daughter Aida’s now-ended relationship with Alulim Sinmuballit has led some to ponder the possibility of a conflict of interest in Kaykali’s selection of Sinmuballit to the team, although the manager himself insists that Sinmuballit was picked purely on his performance. Privately Kaykali was reportedly saddened by the end of the relationship, but is nevertheless understanding; he is happy that Aida now has a chance to escape the media circus and holds no hard feelings towards Sinmuballit.

Assistant manager: Inimabakesh THULUS- Male – born March 28, 1967 (age 69)
Defying rumors – some of his own making and none of which he tried to deny – that he would retire at the end of the previous World Cup cycle, Thulus is still in his post as senior assistant manager. Friends and associates reportedly believe that Thulus did genuinely want to retire but ultimately felt it was best to stay by Kaykali’s side as he tried to weather the ongoing storm.

Assistant manager: Rashid ABBAS - Male – born February 15, 1987 (age 49)
Formerly a star player in the island country of Faraby, now an associated state of Adab, Abbas is determined to do all he can to help the team and prove that he has earned his position by merit, and not merely as a gesture of appeasement from the AFA to its Farabian counterpart. Currently also manager of the under-21 team.

General coach: Yitzhak BENNETT - Male – born September 20, 1976 (age 59)
Variously described as quiet, active, calm, and attentive, Bennett is very much respected by the players, who admire his work ethic, loyalty to the national team, and willingness to listen to them.

Goalkeeping coach: Faishal AR-RASHID - Male – born August 14, 1978 (age 57)
Regarded, much like Bennett, as a stabilizing influence in the national team, ar-Rashid is particularly close – thanks to his job - to goalkeeper Mohammed Marramzi and is understood to be one of the latter’s few confidants.

Physio: Hamza RIDHA - Male – born January 15, 1983 (age 53)
A longtime friend of both Kaykali and Thulus. Widely respected by fellow staff and players for the understated way by which he performs his job.

STARTING LINEUP
Note: I may reveal the starting lineup and substitutes for the next match(es) in my RPs. Should I not RP or should my RP not contain any information regarding the starting lineup and substitutes, then feel free to pick them yourself.

GK: 1 – Satchit CHANDRASEKAR – Male – born February 7, 2015 (age 21) – Mosul – 0 goals
Barely out of the under-21 team, Satchit Chandrasekar now finds himself unquestionably the national team’s main goalkeeper with Mohammed Marramzi’s retirement. His age is a cause of concern in some quarters, but his performance has been impeccable and there is no doubt that he is one of the country’s best keepers at the moment.

LB: 2 – Tansu ALTUN - Female – born February 25, 2009 (age 27) - Mosul - 0 goals
Fondly called the "heart of the squad" by her teammates. Kind, polite, smiling, beautiful inside and out, she gets along easily with all the staff and players. Yet her soft exterior hides a hard, relentless, unyielding side to her, which shines through every time she is called to perform on the pitch.

CB: 3 – Shania ENMERKAR - Female – born January 20, 2008 (age 28) - Baghdad City - 0 goals
Widely seen as one of the leaders of the “female wave” in Adabian football, observers nevertheless agree that Enmerkar has earned her place in the team by merit, rather than merely by virtue of her gender. The other female players in the squad look up to her as their leader and spokeswoman, and it is she who often goes to Kaykali to communicate the women’s concerns and opinions.

CB: 4 – Yousif ISSOU - Male – born September 27, 2004 (age 31) - Adab United - 0 goals
A reliable defender, what he lacks in star power he makes up for in tenacity, a seemingly endless energy reserve, and impressive performance on the pitch day in and day out.

RB: 5 – Taymour FRANGIEH - Male – born February 24, 2001 (age 35) - Adab United - 1 goal
The youngest of the remaining veterans from the World Cup 81 squad, Frangieh has gradually assumed the position of mentor to the newer players and maintains good relations with them. He has grown particularly close to Alulim Sinmuballit, whom he supports in continuing his interreligious relationship with Emma Arthur.

LM: 6 – Emma ARTHUR - Female – born November 18, 2012 (age 23) - Adab United - 2 goals (Vice Captain)
A representative of the Anglo-Adabian community, the second-youngest member of the squad, and widely seen as a young prodigy on almost the same level as Alulim Sinmuballit, with whom she is now openly in a relationship. Estranged from her family, with modeling offers ebbing away, she is nevertheless determined to preserve the controversial relationship even as it divides the nation.

CM: 7 – Alulim SINMUBALLIT - Male – born September 15, 2013 (age 23) - Adab United - 2 goals
The baby of the squad, and an undoubted prodigy of the game. Sinmuballit desires nothing more than to impress his teammates, and he has impressed greatly on the pitch. Off the pitch, his relationship with Emma Arthur has been… less impressive to many, to put it lightly. Nevertheless he tries to make it work, even if inside he is wondering if this relationship can actually work.

RM: 8 – Ephraim ORLEV - Male – born April 18, 1999 (age 37) - Mosul - 7 goals
A veteran from World Cup 81, Orlev remains an integral part of the squad who can be relied upon to drive forward the team’s hallmark counterattacks. He was reportedly uncomfortable with what he perceived to be his status as the team’s token Jew, although this was assuaged by the arrival of Rebekah Yissakar.

LAM/LW: 9 – Jushur AL-KUFA - Male – born August 27, 2003 (age 33) - Damascus Steelers – 20 goals
A longtime star of the Adabian domestic leagues, the 30-year-old al-Kufa has finally secured his position as a mainstay of the national team. A consistently polite and unassuming man, he is respected by all of his teammates.

RAM/RW: 10 – Rebekah YISSAKAR - Female – born January 20, 2013 (age 23) - Adab United – 31 goals
Brash, funny, happy-go-lucky, all those words have been used to describe Rebekah Yissakar, but do not let her bubbly, excitable personality distract you from the fact that she is one of Adabian football’s rising talents, with a deadly finishing touch that secured her a place at the forefront of the national team. Widely tipped as the “new Yargab” and poised to form a new, deadly partnership at the front with Kastiliasu Akaptaha, with whom the aging Yargab is starting to rotate.

CF: 11 – Enlilbani YARGAB - Male – born April 21, 1999 (age 37) - Baghdad City – 97 goals (Captain)
At age 37, Yargab’s position as the greatest Adabian player in history is secure, with more than 350 goals in the Adabian league and 97 goals with the national team. Marramzi’s retirement leaves Yargab as the team captain, with the captain's armband transferred to vice-captain Arthur should Yargab not start the match or be substituted in favor of Kastiliasu Akaptaha. The Yargab-Akaptaha rotation is expected to become a major feature of the current squad; although his agility and skill have only declined a little from his peak, Yargab nevertheless seeks to preserve his body and prolong his career and understands that the much-younger Akaptaha adapts more easily to the gegenpressing tactics.

STADIUM
Image

Adab City Stadium, the pride and joy of Adabian football, was completed in 1940. Located in the northern part of Adab City, the stadium was able to accommodate 40,000 people at the time of its opening. Renovations in 1978 made it an all-seater stadium and expanded its capacity to 55,350. Later it increased to 75,000 following upgrades in 2009-10 and then 76,500 after another upgrade in 2019. It is currently home to the Adabian national football team and Adab City FC.

TACTICS AND FORMATION
The team will use 4-3-2-1, the "Christmas tree" formation, with an emphasis on gegenpressing – immediately working to take back possession after losing the ball and launching a quick counterattack before the opponent can take the initiative. Any opposition players with the ball will find themselves swarmed and cut off quickly. The orientation towards gegenpressing has been offered as evidence of Rashid Abbas’ increasing influence as he seeks to modernize the team; he is poised to become sole assistant manager to Kaykali once Inimabakesh Thulus finally retires.

Goalkeeper Satchit Chandrasekar has enjoyed a sudden and meteoric rise from under-21 keeper to first-choice senior team keeper, aided by the decline and retirement of Mohammed Marramzi. Taymour Frangieh heads the defense, letting his agility – barely diminished at age 35 – and most importantly his ability to quickly rally his fellow defenders to close ranks during every attack from the opposition speak for themselves.

At midfield, Alulim Sinmuballit and Emma Arthur continue their partnership, which continues to gain acclaim on the pitch even as it becomes increasingly controversial off it. Their agility and teamwork allow them increased coverage of the pitch and domination of possession, which they skillfully use to quickly transfer the ball away from the opposing team and to the attacking trio of Jushur al-Kufa, Rebekah Yissakar, and the great Enlilbani Yargab. At age 37, the country’s greatest player remains by far its most lethal finisher, although he now largely avoids ostentatious displays of acrobatics and dribbling skills which marked his younger days in favor of simple runs towards the penalty box. In a further concession to his advancing age, Al-Kufa and Yissakar are also gradually bearing more and more of the goalscoring burden, with Yargab starting to rotate with the young Kastiliasu Akaptaha. Yargab or Akaptaha will occasionally drop back to serve as a false nine, leaving a hole in the opposition defense to be exploited by al-Kufa, Yissakar, and the midfielders.

TROLLEBORG NATIONAL TEAM

Nickname: Trolls

Total official games in every tournament +126=42–57, not counting ongoing IAC

NATIONAL TEAM

Trolleborg national football team is, undoubtely, one of the country those things for which the country is famous in the Multiverse. Just six years old, team won three major international tournaments in a creative and enjoyable playing style, but fans always begs for more.

Image

Usually playing in green, recently almost as often in red, very rare in white and only one time ever in blue, but such a kit existed and maybe this is a time to put him on display.

COACH

Morten Troghil is a manager of the team since its creation, and right now he have a difficult task of both maintain achieved level and change the guard, since most of the players who won three trophies are not younger with years.

PLAYERS

Most of the team is consisted of players who relatively recently added to the squad of national team. They are younger and less experienced than their predecessors, who win Baptism of Fire, Melayu Cup and Cup of Harmony, but it looks like they've already learned a lot of what came to our football from international one, and, as expected, it will allow beginners to more easily adapt to the conditions of this latter.

GOALKEEPERS

Jesper Krogh (25 years). He spent much of the time in the national team behind Kot Kotsson, but right now this legendary goalkeeper moved aside, with Krogh suddenly becomes number 1 at the Melayu Cup. Fast and good at the second floor, without losing something in his first floor game skills, making some incredible saves in our league, prove himself well up to date, but it was opened to doubt if he is ready to fully substitute iconic goalkeeper Kot Kotsson.
Finnsnes Soderhelm (30). “Confidence come with experience”, – often said coaches, and it’s close to what happened to this goalkeeper. Having spent full first half of career mostly as backup in the first league teams, he move one floor down and soon return to the spotlight as a reliable and competent goalkeeper. With a lot of experience behing him, he is great in handling things in his domain, always cool-headed even in the most difficult situations, while giving sense of security to his teammates. He is now second choice keeper, much like Gould and Krogh was with Kotsson.

DEFENDERS

Joos Haankrands (24). Left defender, agile and fast, he has everything to be the first-rate star on his position in the years to come.
Jesper Loonstrup (24). One of the youngest members of the team, he is flank defender in the preferred Trolleborg style – fast moving, adept in supporting attacking moves, willingly throw himself in the way of the ball, aggressive in tackling.
Rekdal Lundstram (27). Comfortably carries his defensive duties, tenacious fighter and excellent ball winner also good passer, which was allowed him joined attacks productively and adding depth on the left flank. It will be seen, if he is up to the task of fulfilling role of left defender in the international games.
Kasper Wolters (30). One of the team brightest stars, he is right back by default, but he is very strong, very fast, have a very good shot and even better crossing skill. Having all this, he very often make a lighting runs to the opposition box and sometime substitute right midfielder.
Karsten Lindeblad (24). Robust right defender, fast and strong, with good position sense, he prove himself in the Trolleborg league as worthy opponent even for the best forwards, fighting for every ball and never give up. He don’t have a stable place in the lineup recently, but MC give him chance to prove himself.
Kasper Lejder (25). Sturdy build, he is faster than he look, capable to cope with even strongest and faster forwards defends with class and also participated in attacking play. One of his biggest assets is his self-confidence and calmness even under pressure.
Kelrick Winterbern (24). Quick, strong and versatile defender, hard working and willingly join attacks, masterful when marking and excellent in the air. Can be used in every position at the back line, but most comfortable at the center.
Joran Du Riis (27). Cold-blooded fighter prove that he more than capable holding his own at the highest level. Agile and fast-moving, but solidly builded and used this for his advantage, he prefers play either to the right of center or on the right side, as team needed.
William Schendel (25). Versatile fast moving defender known for his skillful positioning and man-marking, highly effective in breaking opposition attacks, great in the heading, with incredible high crosses-interception rate. He also very fond to add himself to the attacking players.
Jaan Berg (25). He is one of the Trolleborg players who play in the first ever football tournament for the country, U18 world cup. Combativity one of the main his virtues, and he does not let the opportunity of joining the attack. Hard, efficient central defender and good marker, stands out for his aerial game, and oozes commitment and enthusiasm for the full ninety minutes.

MIDFIELDERS

Finn Finnsnes (33). Playing usually attacking midfielder, free forward or link man between midfielders and attackers, he is swift, smart, good dribbler with a great sense of goal possibilities. Having all this, he didn’t make solo runs without need, and has a habit to review every option before doing something, so opponents never know beforehand what he did next second.
Morten Troll (29). He is a brightest star amongst midfielders in the whole country. Genius of game, with a wonderful dribbling, beautiful technique, excellent pass and extremely good shot, he won many games for his local team single-handedly, but also a great team player with great repertoire of tricks. Highly probably, he will be a player of generation, and very probably, best player Trolleborg ever had. He brilliantly justified all the positive reviews even when team performance was rather uninspiring, sometimes won games single-handedly.
Brutil Skrta (25). Very complete player, who posessed ability, stamina, flair, technique and resoluteness in just perfect mix. Shows tremendous accuracy when passing, fine distant shooting skills and ability to lost his markers. In addition to that his stamina allows him to help constantly at the back if need arises.
Hendrick Groningen (30). The defensive midfielder, probably the best in his generation, he was not selected to play in BoF and joined team by way, proved himself worthy of a place in the team, caused a lot of problems to the attacking players of the opposing teams. His talent of intercepting ball in the middle and using every possibility to begin attacks was fully appreciated by everyone – apart, probably, of his opponents.
Soren Wittingem (25). Strong player who can run incessantly whole 90 minutes, distributes ball well due to his great passing ability and perfect knowledge of game, and also shows real class at his defensive duties, as it was extremely difficult to go past him.
Torstein Halst (24). Right winger\forward, with a good passing, master of highly accurate long crosses and very well making in curved shots from outside the box. Willingness to fight for every ball, spare no effort, and, most importantly, improve his skills is what give this very young player a chance to play for national team.
Kasper Windass (25). Broad and strong left midfielder, he looked a little bit sluggish when moving without ball, but everything changes when he have it. Then he moved extremely fast, sweeping away everything in its path due to his mighty build and usually ended move with a clever pass.
Jorpen Kjelle (24). On of the younger members of the squad, this left midfielder prefer to move almost hugging left-hand touchline. He was as comfortable when playing left midfielder as he is operating as left defender, but right now he hasn’t defined place in the national team. MC give him a chance to make himself visible.
Jesper Gronholm (26). Recent addition to the team, he was comfortable down the right flank as either defender or midfielder. Competenly hold his own while in defence, he was willingly join any move forward, where he pass ball quickly and thoughtfully.
Kenneth Pathmoor (26). He can cover a lot of space and conjure goal opportunity for his forwards from nothing. With his pace, agility and an eye for goal everyone agrees he has a bright future. Kenneth is a regular addition to the squad, altought coach until recently don’t give him too much chance and what this clever and versatile midfielder did on the field looked not too good. But in the recent campaign he prove his right to be counted on as a midfielder.
Jesper Lucius (24). With a perfect sense of game, this central midfielder usually can move ball to where it want with only one touch, and he is good with a set-pieces. Some say, he was like a Morten Troll in his younger years, but many stop say so recently. CoH was, probably, his best, and maybe last, chance to prove they are wrong.
Martijn Knopper (24). Left midfielder, very skillful with the ball at his feet. An intelligent player, he dishes out a lot of goalscoring passes to his teammate. For this reason he has become one of the most important footballers in his club. But it will be seen, if he is up to the task on the international level.

FORWARDS

Kroonquist, Morten (26). Another addition to the team squad, this fast forward known for intensity of his game, and he is capable to maintain workrate in all 90 minutes. With enviable quickeness he moved very fast, turns very well, constantly pressurized rival defenders, with or without balls, and always trying winning back posession.
Torgeir Berglund (24). Effective center forward in front of goals, having something in common in both Kerr and Gulbranden despite their visible differences. He prove his goal-scoring talents in the national team, but was clearly not convincingly enough.
Torben Kranforde (25). Very fast forward, who have special ability to surprise rival defenders. He also posessed a great skill of positioning himself very well, and regularly sent many defenders and goalkeepers into despair with his precise and deadly shots from both feet. He prove himself very well in the games where he have a spot in the lineup.
Mogren Langepaas (24). Star of the Youth League succeed to carry his status into the national league. His style of play does not look very spectacular, but he has a phenomenal scoring sense and constantly finds gaps in the defensive orders.

TEAM TACTICS AND GAME STYLE

Team practiced attractive attacking game on a fast pace, and already its style well-known and liked by public. Usually played 4-4-2 with defenders pressed forward whatever possible, or 3-5-2 with a midfielders move back and forth as things dictated. Integral and inalienable part of the team’s game will be mighty pressing, applied whatever on the field when ball is not on our side.

Unsportsmanlike behavior is highly discouraged even if in the interests of the cause, and national team players are required to meet the highest standards possible, so it is completely impossible to imagine a player of the Trolleborg national team faking injury or begging for a penalty. But players are not easily bullied, though, and more than able to stand up for themselves both as individuals and as a team, and have a strong inclination to go tit-for-tat in case of excessive brutality on the opponent’s part.

National psyche tell players to put everything even if odds are heavily against, so almost every match in the league played with high determination, and national team shirt oblige one who wore it for even more efforts – altought it was visible, that players often compeletely lose breath when unexpected setbacks occur.

Style –5.
No, there was no confusion, team played attacking football on the field, while having negative style modifier for a scorinating purposes.

THE TUMBRAN NATIONAL FOOTBALL TEAM
The Black Eagles

Image

IMPORTANT OOC NOTE: For all intents and purposes, this Tumbra that began contesting in WCQ87 is an entirely new nation. They have no recollection of their earlier exploits from WC70-80, because that simply didn't exist for this Tumbra. Any and all similarities to the nation of the similar name can and should be construed as glitches in the Multiverse. You may, however, make muted references to "having done this before" or something. For a detailed explanation of how this came to be, read these RPs.

The Tumbran National Football Team is Tumbra's main representative in all association football competitions for national associations. Making its debut at the 87th World Cup Qualifiers, the team currently ranks 30th in the world. The team is controlled by the Tumbran Football Federation, which is also the governing body of football in Tumbra. Also known as the Black Eagles, or affectionately the Eagles, the team competes in the World Cup and its related competitions; it also participates in the Campionato Esportiva, also sends teams to the Di Bradini Cup for Under-21s, and the Under-18 World Cup. The team have won the 51st edition of the former tournament and the 13th edition of the latter tournament; which has placed a lot of faith in the youth.

For the senior team, an unexpected victory at the 31st Campionato Esportiva added to the bumper year the team had; after unexpectedly qualifying for the World Cup as the fourth seed, then beating Quebec & Shingoryeo in the playoffs. This meant an invitation to the Eagles' Cup; where a team of "on-the-bubble" players mixed with experienced stalwarts will try and make it as far as possible in this tournament. They've got to give a good account of Esportivan football, after all.

Managing this team for this tournament will not be permanent manager Yuan Zilai, but assistant manager Peter Gabriel; but he will largely play with the same 4-2-3-1 tactics and counterattacking philosophy employed by the usual head coach.

The Manager

Gabriel, 40, previously served as a coach at Straton; before making the jump to the Tumbran national team with Marco Hemmings when it was announced that Tumbra would be entering WCC competitions. He served as more of a defensive influence with Hemmings, providing a natural counterpart to the attacking manager's bias for action; and when Hemmings decided to step away from the team citing personal reasons, Gabriel stepped in and delivered the national team to a third-placed finish in their World Cup qualifying group. He has since stepped back to serve as Yuan's assistant; but steps up again to manage this bunch for the Eagles' Cup.

UNFAMILIAR TERRITORY :: As they arrive in your country, visitors will need to know where to go and what to look out for. How will they arrive? Where will they stay? What Stadiums will teams be playing at and what will the fans do while they are in town?

Eagles Cup XII marks the start of a busy period for the Commonwealth of Baker Park as it prepares to co-host the World Cup Finals for the second time. The Baker Park National Team will play its home fixtures in the Eagles Cup at the BBP National Stadium, located just to the west of the central downtown hub.

Belle Haven is the national capital of the Commonwealth, with a metro area population of over 5.6 million; it is also the largest city, as well as the financial, entertainment, & cultural center of the country.

What to do in Belle Haven
Visitors to Belle Haven have a wide array of activities to choose from, with most public attractions either having free admission, or just a nominal entry fee.
Baker Park's national capitol building, Parliament House, is open for tours 7 days a week when Parliament is in session and 5 days a week during recesses and is by far the most visited tourist site in country. Other nearby government buildings open for public tours include Treasury House, the home of the Ministry of State for Finance & Revenue; St John's Palace, the residence of the Head of State of the Commonwealth which was formerly the home of the Prince Regent and his family; the Commonwealth State Archives, and the Old Defense Ministry building which houses a museum dedicated to the history of Baker Park's Armed Forces.

The Commonwealth State Museum is the country's largest; it's actually three museums in one—The State Museum, which covers history and the development of the Commonwealth; the Museum of Commerce & Industry, which tells the story of Baker International, the Northern States Company and the other business entities that were key to the growth and stability; and the Museum of Science & Culture, geared to a younger audience, with plenty of interactive displays and multimedia presentations.

The National Gallery of Art, behind Parliament House right next door to the High Tribunal of the Commonwealth/Ministry of State for Justice Building, showcases a variety of domestic and classic styles of artistic works; the Baker Park Museum of Modern Art & Design, located downtown on the corner of State & First Streets highlights the influences that have transformed the country's tastes over its history.

Belle Haven City, as the main business district is officially called, also has many other attractions; Historic Charter House was the nation's first legislative building and later served as the Baker Park State and the Belle Haven City building; City Hall replaced it and is a stunning architectural landmark.
Company House Landing along the riverfront is the site where early settlers disembarked and were enrolled in the population ledgers and is also the location for "zero point", the plate all official distances within the Commonwealth are measured from; the Commonwealth Stock Exchange also is open for public tours, and the Baker International Tower--at 72 floors, it's the tallest skyscraper in the nation--has an observation deck and small exhibit area where the lives of the namesake family are presented.

Shopping more your thing? Every major retail chain has a flagship store in the city, located in clusters in three areas: on First Street from Victoria Street west to Market; Second Street from Westminster to Mercantile; and Third Street from Exchange to Commerce.

The Metro region has 2 zoos open to the public, they generally operate on opposing schedules to one another; on the South Bank of the Belle Haven River is the Keller Aquarium open year round; and there is plenty of green space to enjoy.

Food, Drink, Accommodation
Prior to the early 1970's, the several blocks bordered by First & Front Streets on the north & south, between Market and Division was Belle Haven's "Sin City" in uniquely BP style; as a major entertainment district that catered across social and economic lines, there was a very loose interpretation of City Corporation Ordinances pertaining to zoning.

About 40% of area was appropriated in 1972 by CCO 80021, and the Belle Haven Arena was constructed on the plot; some of the original Uptown District remained unchanged, and eventually the City began to redevelop the section between the eastern edge and the arena. Today, it is the home of of numerous pubs, bars, restaurants, and clubs. There has also been commercial development around the BBP Stadium, as the expansion of the light rail trolley from the Arena to the terminal of the Green Line subway (adjacent to the stadium) makes for a seamless travel experience for supporters.

Visitors from abroad for the Eagles Cup will certainly get more bang for their buck(s) when reserving hotel rooms to camp out in between arrival and departure; midweek fixtures will see significant discounts from Tier 2 downtown properties (3 star, mid-price), especially for multiple night reservations, while weekend fixtures will also have deals available.

(Check the bottom of this Travel Guide for more info on hotels. Also much of the info presented has been revised from this World Cup 84 publication)

Getting here, getting around
Belle Haven International Airport (BHX) serves 41 foreign & domestic carriers and accommodates over 900 takeoffs and departures per day. The airport is approximately 18 miles southwest of the city center, and there are numerous ground transportation options for arriving visitors at Belle Haven International: Metro Transit Buses, taxis, for hire limos, private coaches, rental cars and both private hub-to-hub & hotel shuttles are available to carry the traveler to any part of the city (or further) as needed.

Rental cars are available at relatively modest rates, as competition is fierce among rental firms; almost any type of vehicle you might wish to hire is available, as the Commonwealth automobile market is made up of about 35% imports, so you'll find about any make or model you could imagine here.

Within the Greater City of Belle Haven area, public transportation is widely available across several platforms; CARTA (Capital Area Rapid Transit Authority) provides for public buses, a modern light-rail network, a clean & efficient subway system and connections to commuter and interstate rail lines.
Transit fares are equalized across all types of accommodation; 1 day, 3 day and 7 day passes each offer discounts off the regular single ride price, and the system is fully integrated; one price allows you to access to any CARTA mode of transport along with transfers.
The inter-city river ferry system is a popular option for travelers on day trips or weekend visits. There are vehicle and passenger-only options that operate on hourly schedules or dedicated point to point trips.

Finally
You'll probably notice that we have a bit of Victoriana fetish here in Baker Park. You can't miss it even if you're only halfway paying attention.

People in Baker Park tend to be formal or deferential to strangers when you first meet them, but once the ice is broken, we are a curious nation, eager to welcome everyone and learn about people & cultures from across the multiverse; there is a reason why Baker Park is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the multiverse--even deep in their hearts, Qads really do enjoy coming here for holidays.

Enjoy your trip!

Aminey - Stade sur la Baie (70000) - home to Aminey CS (and the Aminey Caspians, Aminey Buffaloes, and Aminey Owls).
The flagship stadium, huge production values, the works.

Schemerdrecht - Orange Bowl (54000) - home to Schemerdrecht SVV (and the Schemerdrecht Admirals).
More associated perhaps with the Admirals than the SVV, but it's nearly always sold out venue for great crowds in any sport.

Maethoru - Rikalathen Arena (39000) - home to Maethoru SC (and Mayara Wanderers-Vulpecula).
Close to the KFA's training grounds, at least it has that going for it. Crowds aren't great here.

Étouille - Stade Amandine (30000) - home to Tanques AOE (and the Etouille Vultures).
Some amazing drone shots in front of a crowd that understands its joie de vivre.

Santa Teresa - Estádio Fortaleza (29000) - home to Miradela GD (and the Santa Teresa Sabres).
Made to be exactly 1000 seats larger than their rivals' stadium, the Fortaleza is the upper-class stadium.
OR
Santa Teresa - Estádio Marítimo (28000) - home to Branvon CD.
The working class stadium that is, in all facets, a bit inferior to the Fortaleza. Except the crowds. There's no better stadium for wild crowds.

Maynard - Armskirk Municipal Ground (26000) - home to Maynard AFC.
The unlucky Maynard team have asked the KFA to have their stadium used by the national team - as the only southwestern stadium.

Katashi - Suzumebachi Stadium (25000) - home to Katashi-Kanatsu.
The biggest stadium in the east, Katashi deserves a game. The fans will mostly just cheer for the Yoshiman players, though.

Greencaster - Golhampton Grounds (25000) - home to lower league Langward.
Greencaster is our largest city and... that's their only claim to a Dragonflies home game.

Aevanna - Northern Arena (32000) - home to university team 'Aevanna Ecologiske Universitet'.
The KFA wants some games geographically spread across the country, and so the cold, dark, and cold gridiron Northern Arena is on the list.

In the Eagle's Cup, we largely use a U-23 team with some notable exceptions at key positions. Don't be fooled: most of the youngsters have senior NT experience already.

We play post-football, a term coined during World Cup 89 to put words to a horrible semifinal between Audioslavia and the Dragonflies, which ended 0-0 after 120 minutes, then all but one penalty was scored in the ensuing series. Post-football means no singing. No cheering. No scoring. Post-football is sideways passes, looking like the same, repetitive movements for minutes on end, but with tiny variations that at some point will get to you. It could be a counterattack, or a shot from distance, or a set piece. Post-football doesn't care if it takes 90 or 120 minutes, or more.

For some reason, post-football is based on system Karela.

This team is all about containing their opponent, letting them make mistakes, and capitalising on those. Let the other guys get impatient, lose the ball, and immediately go for the counter attack. Yes, it's frustrating to play against, but you have to admit that there's a certain beauty to doing this near-flawlessly every single time. The Dragonflies aren't a very physical team, but can match almost every opponent in stamina (not so much power or speed, though. Typically only the wingers are pacy). Instead, they rely on tactics and patience. The team is also good enough to be in possession a lot and dictate the tempo, though they're not always creative enough to break down the opposing defence - for that, the Dragonflies have learned to be very, very good on counterattacks, set pieces, and a few patterns in open play. Given the experience most of these players have, it's hard to come up with something new they've never seen - and then do that well enough to reliably score. In order to beat us, you'll need to bring two (or more) of the following: power, speed, caution.

Basically, this team comes prepared, is patient, and keeps a cool head.

Image
Numbers 1 to = typically start (but not always, feel free to choose your starters). That's 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, X, and =.
Numbers 1-23 are typically selected as starters or subs (but not always, feel free to select some 23+-ers as subs or starters).
Numbers over 23 are mostly there as emergency replacements, but can be part of the 23-man squad for some qualifiers.

Image
The standard for this team. Five defenders, a defensive midfielder-slash-pivot, two wingers, an attacking midfielder-annex-second striker, and a pure finisher up front. In possession, one of the defenders can push up: this might be one of the fullbacks to provide width, but can also be one of the centrebacks, in which case the defensive midfielder makes way. The wingers will be wider or narrower based on the opposition, and the same determines how far the fullbacks will advance. In defence, the team becomes narrower, with the defensive midfielder playing spoiler to whoever is trying to find space between the Ko-orenite lines, and the wingers falling back to meet opposing fullbacks. The striker and attacking midfielder will almost always look for space to launch a counterattack.
Image
The alternate lineup, which still adheres to a basic 5-4-1. You could call it a 5-5-0, seeing as the striker is sitting back much further. This lineup works the exact same for the defenders, with or without possession. The defensive and central midfielder are pivots, the wingers have far more freedom to find space, and the striker drops back to receive the ball and allow other players to overlap, enabling them to score a goal rather than the striker themselves. In defence, the midfielders can organically shrink and expand their 'pentagram-five' formation much more fluidly.

Visitors Guide to Turori & Eagle's Cup Stadiums

Postby Turori » Sun Jan 02, 2022 3:20 pm

Image

The Island Emirate of Turori has four main zones as part of is primary inhabited areas. The majority of Turori's Population resides on the south eastern portion of Turori's main Island. This includes the Capital City of Almintora, the surrounding capital region including Cednia and the purpose built sportropolis of Eelandii as well as on the Northern shore the city of Kionao. While Almintora is still the largest city in the Island Emirate, Cednia and its associate Beach life at the southern tip of Turori's main Island have become one of its most popular for entertainment as well as holiday style tourism. Outside of this, the large portion of Turori's remaining population are in the Mliona region of Turori's smaller Island, where folks who want to be detached from the hustle bustle of the Capital City life tend to reside.

Directly between Almintora and Cednia Beach sits Eelandii, a purpose built "Sportropolis" built midway between Turori's two largest cities, Almintora and Cednia. Eelandii itself is not a town or a city but a purpose-designated that initially consisting of just Eel's park - itself a state of the art sporting complex for football and athletics, the campus at Eelandii was quickly expanded to include the offices of the Football Association of Turori and a permanent training facility for the Turori National Team. 90% of Turori's Top Tier international talent spends time at the Eelandii Academy at some point in their development. This is also where the Cup of Champions will kick off when the defending champions Turori take the field against Baptism of Fire Cup winners Pyazhnaya at the smaller Eagle's Club Pitch #1. From There, Turori's remaining group stage matches will move outward to the larger neighboring cities of Cednia and Almintora. Should Turori advance to the knockout rounds their remaining matches are expected to be played at the Eagle's Club in Eelandii.

Eelandii, Turori
Postcard:
Image

Fixture :: Home Match #1 v. Pyazhnaya

Location :: The Eagle's Club is located in the purpose built city of Eelandii, midway between the Turorian cities of Almintora and Cednia.

Capacity :: 8,000 + Add'l Temporary Seating

Stadium History :: Although Turori were champions of Eagle's Cup III, the purpose built Eagle's Club facility in Eelandii was not constructed until just prior to Eagle's Cup V. Prior to this, Almintora National Stadium in Almintora was Turori's designated Eagle's facility.

The main pitch at the Eagle's Club has only one permanent grand stand which sits directly over the facility entrance at the south end of the stadium behind the goal with a capacity of about 8,000. The main pitch is available as a practice facility for any Eagle's Club member, permanent or cyclic honorary members, when visiting Atlantian Oceania or Turori whether they are contesting an International Match or just holding a tour practice. There are additional pitches and sport facilities on the complex accessible only to Eagle's Club members. Additionally, all facilities in the purpose built sporting hub of Eelandii are available to Eagle's Club members on a first-come first-serve basis.

During Eagle's Cup events, temporary grandstands are constructed along the two long sides of the pitch supporting between 20-45,000 additional fans. The temporary grand stands are physically separated from the pitch by a Brick promenade covered in vine overgrowth.

The most important event held at the Eagle's Club is the Champions Ceremony. While the Eagle's Cup Final is typically held off-site to encourage larger attendance numbers, the final contestants return to the Eagle's Club to receive their medals. Prior to the medal ceremony, a third place match is held to determine which nation will receive the bronze medals. For logistical purposes, the Third Place Playoff match goes straight to penalty kicks if tied after 90 minutes, ensuring the medal ceremony is not delayed. This scheduling detail also makes the Eagle's Cup unique in that the third place playoff match takes place after the competition final.

Primary Tenants :: All members of the Eagle's Club are the primary tenants at the Eagle's Club main pitch. The expanded-seating capacity Eagle's Club venue is used only for Eagle's Club knockout round matches or matches between two Eagle's Club members.

Cednia, Turori
Postcard:
Image

Fixture :: Home Match #2 v. Ko-oren

Location :: Cednia is the Vacation Center of the Island Emirate boasting the best Coastlines, nightlife and business opportunities within Turori in a sprawling coastal city.

Capacity :: 103,000

Stadium :: The Cednia Beach Center is one of the purest examples of capitalism and expansion in the Vilitan Leagues. Originally a modest plot for a modest team, the stadium has risen along with the rise of the club. Now, a world class stadium capacity wise, there are concessions that were made. The training grounds outside the center are second rate, and parking is virtually non-existent at the complex. Public transportation - including your own two feet, would be required for fans to access the stadium. Thats alright though, plenty of lodging surrounds the local area within walking distance.

The Cednia Beach Center has been home to International competitions for many seasons including the Cup of Harmony 53 Final contested between Darmen and New Montreal States. New Montreal States ran out 4-2 winners on the day in what was an otherwise quiet and successful day at the park for fans attending at the Cednia Beach Center, showcasing the ability for Cednia to host the marquee matchups of International Sport despite the close confines of the stadium with its Cednia surroundings. Just two cycles later, the Cednia Beach Center would be home to one of the the most talked about World Cup Finals of its era, when Atlantian Oceania powerhouse Starblaydia in search of their record 6th World Cup took on an Audioslavia side that had made more World Cup Finals without ever winning than any other nation. In that game, Audioslavia finally prevailed to earn their first World Cup title while Starblaydia still seeks that elusive 6th title.

Almintora, Turori
Postcard:
Image

Fixture :: Home Match #3 v. Trolleborg:

Location :: Almintora National Stadium is located in Almintora, Turori. Almintora is the capital city of the Island Emirate of Turori and has been the capital ever since the time of Turorian independance.

Capacity :: 79,000 (All Seated)

Stadium History :: The Almintora National Stadium served as the home of the Football Association of Turori and the Turori National team from their entrance onto the international competition scene prior to World Cup 15 until the Football Association relocated their headquarters to the purpose built Eels Park community in Eelandii, Turori.

The Almintora National Stadium was originally constructed as a 45,000 seat stadium for use by the National Team during World Cup 15 and World Cup 16 qualification. However, when it became evident that Turori's nearby neighbors, the Tropics of Vilita, were being considered as the potential hosts of World Cup 17, the Football Association of Turori strategically aligned itself with their former colonial lands in order to ensure that of the 8 stadia selected for the World Cup Finals, one would be from Turori. Naturally, the Almintora National Stadium was the stadium of choice and would serve as the first time the Island Emirate of Turori would open its doors to a major international event. With a lot on the line, the Turorian government partnered with the Football Association of Turori to increase the capacity of the Almintora National Stadium from 45,000 to 79,000 in time for the World Cup 17 finals.

The move was proven even more fruitful when the Turori Eels themselves qualified for the World Cup 17 finals, the first finals appearance for Turori, and were able to play each of their group stage matches at their home stadium.

With the success of hosting one group of the World Cup 17 finals at the Almintora National Stadium, Turori had put itself on the map. Soon after it would be announced that the Island Emirate of Turori would host World Cup 19 in a joint bid with The Belmore Family. Naturally, the crown jewel of Turorian stadiums, the Almintora National would ultimately host the World Cup Final - the single most prestigious match in the multiverse.

Unfortunately for the Almintora National Stadium, hosting the World Cup 19 final was something of a 'peak' over the course of the stadiums lifespan. Co-sharing the arena between the Turori National Team and Turorian domestic side FC Almintora accelerated the wear, tear and aging within the facility. To make matters worse, the mediocre performance of FC Almintora in the domestic league meant that incentive to invest in further renovation of the arena was minimal. The stadium would still be chosen to host the final of the 26th Cup of Harmony, but even by that time the Cednia Beach Center in Cednia had started to become the premier sporting facility on the Island. In fact, even the Cup of Harmony 26 final was originally awarded to the newly built Coliseum of the Inurahtii in the Inura Forest, however, the Safety & Health Initiative of Turori determined that the site would not be ready in time to host spectators, with the Final site being retroactively chosen as the Almintora National Stadium due to its experience having hosted the World Cup 19 final.

Despite having been supplanted as Turori's international stadium of choice, the Almintora National Stadium has accrued one honor that no other stadium in Turori - or in Vilita, can lay claim. Almintora National Stadium is the only stadium in Vilita & Turori to have been selected as a host site for the UICA Globe Cup, having been home to the 55th Globe Cup final. Almintora National Stadium also hosted the 66th UICA Champions Cup Final.

Primary Tenants :: FC Almintora currently compete in the Vilitan Declasse Division. The Turori National Team continue to play occasional matches at the arena during World Cup Qualifying due to the arenas central location in Almintora, the capital city of Turori.

Greetings, compatriots!
It’s TTV and we are presented interview of FA CEO Torben Mortensen.

T.M.: Greetings, compatriots! Happy to be here. Hope you all find recent results comforting.

T.R.: Yes, this is something that needs to be discussed first. Two consecutive victories at the international level is more than a decent result.

T.M.: But I must also note that after the victory in the Cup of Harmony, the finals in the Melayu Cup and Independent Associations Cup followed. Three finals in a row are also not bad result at all. It is a pity, of course, that two of them ended in defeats, but it would be unfair not to notice that, moreover, the team changed the lineup by almost half in one year. Yes, I understand, many people assume that the previous generation of players, which won CoH, MC and BoF, could have bring two more trophies to Trolleborg, but think this is hardly the case. A permanent and constant lineup is good, but look at the many teams playing the same roster from year to year... Just take the roster list of any major tournament over the past seasons, and you will find a lot of cases when not a single new one player has been added to the squad for ten years. And what have these teams achieved? They often keep only on old merits.

T.R.: And why do we somehow not keep on the previous merits? Everyone knows the concept and heard something of "rank coasting", but for some reason its looked like it doesn't work for us?

T.M.: You know, I cannot give you a definite answer. The idea of chromatikation is not close to my mind, I tend to blame the failures on individual errors of the referees and the general unlucky conditions. Although, I agree, if you look at the results of hockey and basketball players, there is reason to re-think about so-called chromatikation possibility. But personally for me, this explanation is not worked. It seems to me that although in a number of key matches the malicious intent of officials is clearly visible – of course, we all remember Bahia Roja – here the psychology of our people also plays a big role, with a well-known trait of character of our athletes, who quit playing very quickly after the first setbacks. And as a result, we have great players, talented coaches, wonderful fans - but no result. It took the powerful intervention of the national leader himself to at least balance the situation!

T.R.: And it turns out that Trolleborg is relatively confident in rugby and football?

T.M.: I have never made and will not make such generalizations now. I am very happy for the rugby players success, and I hope that hockey and basketball players will also delight the people soon.

T.R.: Well then, back to our players.

T.M.: If you want to ask a question what feelings do I have when I realize that I make a good thing while defended the participation of the team in the Melayu Cup despite serious criticism of this decision, then it is in vain. I will not answer it, I will only note that I am glad that I am right. And I foresee the next question ...

T.R.: And what will it be?

T.M.: Are you wondering if it was worth getting involved with two tournaments with strange rules, and do this in the same time?

T.R.: You guessed it. Well, was it worth it to get involved with two strange tournaments at the same time, and even immediately after the labor-intense IAC? The first results are not very impressive, I understand what you will answer now, but how much are you sure of the correctness of the chosen route?

T.M.: This question was voiced, and the head coach expressed opinion he could handle situation. It also seemed to me that two tournaments almost simultaneously, immediately after the IAC and before the World Championship, was too much. I understand that many expected the head coach to use two different squads, to look at the entire pool of players on whom they can count on, but he did what he saw fit. But since he is responsible for the result, we cannot disavow his orders.

T.R.: Now I would like to ask, how do you assess the state of preparation for one of the stages of the Wonder Cup in Trolleborg? I'm asking not so much for our fans, asbut for viewers from other countries.

T.M.: As you remember, we applied for the previous IAC, and, to the surprise of many, were defeated. Therefore, the opportunity to try your hand at organizing international competitions is very important. Actually, the infrastructure is largely ready, and for a long time, and now, the organization of work with huge masses of fans is being tried by the fire. Over the years that the team has been hosting guests at all, usually there are literally a handful of fans from other countries, and they generally have very little interest in our tourism potential, no reviews and feedback are given at all, and in general there is simply nowhere to gain experience and clear understanding of what needed to be reworked and\or refurbished. Perhaps these games will allow you and us to get some idea of this aspect of mass competition.

T.R.: And can we expect something else in the near future?

T.M.: I guess not. After last year's media noises, there are hardly many people willing to cooperate. The FA itself is open to suggestions, but a lot of work remains to be done to neutralize the consequences. And we are in a dire need of raising our media profile in the world. As part of this soon TTV-Sport will return in the air.

T.R.: After a pause for the news, we will return to the studio. Ok, we are already are

Parts of this roster are recycled from the last EC and CR.

Image
Kit credit (IC: Ferideia; OOC: Tikariot)

Team name: Græntfjall
Trigram: GRÆ [GRF when not available]
Demonym/adjective: Græntfjaller
Team nickname: Snow Wolves

Coach: Image Igrene Cantor
Assistant coach: Image Bríana Sigurbjarnsdóttir

Fear not, Igrene; while the Copa Rushmori was an unmitigated disaster, her job – and legacy – is forever secure having taken the Snow Wolves to a first ever World Cup finals. Her absence reflects not a lack of confidence, but simply a desire to give her a break and allow her to concentrate on planning for the forthcoming World Cup qualifiers. The team will be led by her assistant manager. Bríana is an injury prone journeywoman striker turned manager, who has had success in second division domestic football before joining Igrene’s staff. Quiet and fairly intellectual, and a fan of modern analytical techniques, Bríana is seen as a good contrast to Igrene.

Squad: A 23-person squad has been named for the tournament. Generally those numbered 1-11 will be starters, except that Jasmijn (who wears 13), Tom (who wears 17) and Tinni (who wears 18) should be regular starters.
  • The Græntfjaller Premier League is gender-mixed and it is seen as uncontroversial for men and women to play alongside each other. -son names are men, -dóttir names women (+ Jasmijn), -bur names gender-neutral [they/them/their]. Many players are commonly referred to by their first name rather than their patronymic surnames, but there’s not a totally consistent standard on this.
  • Græntfjall has not historically sent full-strength sides to the Eagle’s Cup. The EC9 squad was composed entirely of domestic-based players as KG was unable to secure release clauses for players signed abroad; the EC10 squad was composed entirely of women, to atone for the scheduling misalignment that rendered the Baptism of Fire squad entirely composed of men; and the EC11 picked one player from each of the prior 23 squads across various competitions. This time, KG’s priority is getting players who have not featured in past EC squads some playing experience in humid Multinesian conditions. As such, the squad has been drawn from those who have no or limited playing time across the past three editions, though it is overall barely a step below a full strength national team as there are, for various reasons, some quality players who’ve missed out so far.
  • The financial status of football in Græntfjall is improving, and million+ NS$ contracts are increasingly common. Because the GPL isn’t especially strong, most NT players and hopefuls ply their trade abroad. At the moment I am very behind in TW business, so if you want to buy a player, it may be quicker to TG/DM me directly; I am especially open to this if you have a storyline in mind we could RP.
  • In general, Græntfjaller players are athletic and have excellent whole-match fitness, disciplined, and not prone to violence or emotional outbursts. They are, however, not tremendously skilled. A particular type of footballer, nicknamed “BFG” (Big Fucking Græntfjaller), is associated with the country, normally playing in roles such as center back, defensive midfielder, or center forward. The new crop of, predominantly though not exclusively, female central midfielders somewhat eschew this stereotype and there have been growing attempts to get more skilful players into the lineup, such as Kæja Finnvarðsdóttir.
  • Græntfjall did not traditionally appoint a designated captain, and instead had the starting 11 elect a captain before each captain, but this tradition has largely been abandoned. For this tournament only, that tradition has been revived, and the team will vote on a captain before each match. If I have not announced it, you may RP anyone acting as captain, or if you don’t want to pick, just assume it’s Björnólfur Ernestisson.
  • Timing note: In my timeline this occurs 1 year after the last CR and 2 years after the last WC, just before the new WCQs begin; it occurs after the next GPL season, and across Transfer Window 34. Any players on foreign teams will be assumed to be given leave.
Goalkeepers

1. Björnólfur Ernestisson Image Yeaddin Owls (caps: 49, goals: 1)
12. Mikkel Rúnarsson Image Þingsnitz uncapped
23. Emmely Aaronsdóttir Image Folte uncapped

Björnólfur once again lost his place as the consensus #1 goalkeeper at the Copa Rushmori with one of his occasional “let in a bunch of goals for lols” performances against Cabo Azure, but the sense is he’ll probably regain it during the WCQs, as he has better footballing skills than Gabríella Hárlaugsdóttir, who’s the superior shot stopper but less comfortable with the ball at her feet. Mikkel and Emmely are young prospects who are probably going to leave having failed to earn an Eagle’s Cup cap, unless something goes seriously awry in goal.

Defenders

2. Alyssia Noahsdóttir Image GT Molding uncapped
3. Christian Asvardsson Image Korsbach (1)
4. Asbjørn Vilbjörnsson Image GT Molding uncapped
5. Grímúlfur Gunnþórsson Image Steinaux (3)
13. Jasmijn Spiderlair Image Korsbach (1)
15. Spartakus Markusson Image Estdal (1)
16. Chris Fornisson Image Gunzlach (1)
17. Tom Ernestisson Image Inland Peaks (63, 4)

The most likely set-up is the exciting wing-back prospects Alyssia and Jasmijn flanking experienced Tom, who’s been around forever and somehow become the nearly-man of the NT, never quite featuring among the first two centerbacks while also seeing time at RB and DM, along with Asbjørn and Grímúlfur. Grímúlfur had an awesome last season and should start, but Asbjørn is considered the best CB prospect since Hjörleifur Reynarsson. He’s the son of former NT captain Vilbjörn Hjörleifursson (yes, the names get confusing!), and loud mouthed and opinionated – but very talented. Bríana seems interested in the growing popularity of 3-at-the-back which the NT hasn’t used much, so this tournament could be a trial run for WCQs.

Midfielders

6. Kauko Arvidsson Image (2)
7. Ari Hlynursbur Image Ituraitz FC (7, 1)
10. Kæja Finnvarðsdóttir Image Altendalur (8, 1)
11. Vanessa Marvinsdóttir Image Steinaux (1)
18. Tinni Grímólfursson Image Avenida Leal (24, 1)
19. Fabian Lukasson Image Estdal (1)
21. Noah Urbansson Image Kitara AA (3)
22. Valter Marvinsson Image Gortz United (4)

Kauko and Valter are defensive midfielders competing for a spot in the NT; Valter’s sister, Vanessa is a winger, as Ari. Somewhere between three to five of these can be expected to play alongside the guaranteed starters, talented young playmaker Kæja and intense, physical Tinni, naturally preferred in deeper roles but with a whacking great right foot on set pieces. Fabian and Noah, experienced domestic trundlers, are unlikely to be used much but can enjoy a nice expenses paid holiday.

Forwards

8. Toddi Hróðvarsson Image Fliserboding (2)
9. Julia Wolfgangsdóttir Image Char Sara FC (2)
14. Viktoria Öndesdóttir Image GT Molding (1)
20. Else Sofussdóttir Image Estdal (2)

Only one of the very inexperienced forwards is likely to start: young Julia, sister of Lilly. Julia is seen as a solid prospect but probably not the most natural goalscorer, more of a support player, so having her as the lone forward in a 3-4-2-1 setup is going to be an interesting look. Viktoria is a more natural poacher, albeit without great pace; Toddi a solid and unreconstructed big bodied forward; Else a flighty winger.

Style modifier: -3
This is a team much stronger in defense than attack; compare the NT goalkeeper, to a forward corps with a combined 7 caps and 0 goals.

Image

A 3–4–2–1 with 3 centerbacks and 2 DMs looks defensive, so there’s a lot of pressure on Kæja and Ari to create from their attacking midfield roles.

Soccer is a summer sport in Græntfjall, which is a wintry, alpine nation with (given its Rushmori location in the temperate zone) an inexplicably harsh climate. Given the timing of this Cup, all ‘home’ games are once again played at the National High Performance Sports Center. This obviates any home advantage and may in fact disadvantage Græntfjaller players who have previously struggled in tropical conditions, but there is a clear secondary aim of gaining experience in the conditions, which are likely to be hot and humid, but not unbearably so.

The NHPSC is a large multi-sports complex featuring training areas for almost every Olympic and other major sport that Græntfjall competes in. The stadium has now met its full planned capacity of 50,000 and is up to full international standards, though corporate hospitality remains limited in availability. The NHPSC is based in Græntfjaller Multinesia, the largest constituent island of the Græntfjaller South Indies. Where these lie is somewhat confusing as those consulting the Rushmori regional map will find no reference to them: they certainly exist though and lie in tropical oceans far to the south east/west/up/down/strange/charm/other of the Græntfjaller mainland.

The Græntfjaller South Indies were the only major colonial possession of the Queendom captured during the Age of Piracy. During the 20th century, Græntfjall fell under communist rule and the islands were granted independence, an unfortunate oversight which was quickly corrected in the immediate post-communist era, welcoming the islanders back under the benevolent and wise rule of the mainland, which has brought them many modern amenities such as industrial strip-mining of the landscape, while employment opportunities abound in the sweatshops of the Export Processing Zones that, free from international labor regulations, are veritable hives of industry churning out produce for the Græntfjaller and international markets nearly round-the-clock! Many natural beauty spots have been preserved, however, most of them now playing home to luxury vacation resorts, private residences, and golf courses.

There is a naval base, multiple air strips, and a full marine battalion, on the islands, and a heavily military presence is noticeable. There are some restricted areas where photography is not permitted and some areas of the islands are completely off-limits. Have no fear, though, security is assured, and terrorist groups such as the savage “Multinesian Human Rights Council” and “Indigenous People’s Clean Water Defence Fund” are being firmly policed to prevent any rogue action such as passing on documentation of the pollution of their tribal homelands.

It's time for the Eagle's Cup! Here is a song about a famous Eagle.

Optional RP prompt/suggestion for the next matchday: Missed Connections. Many teams can tell you who their historic rivals are/were, or what some of the greatest matches they played in. However, what about the big matches that never happened? Maybe your rival got knocked out the round before you were set to meet them in the knockouts? Maybe you were psyched about a certain qualifying draw, only for an error to mean it all got redone? Or maybe you don't have much of a history yet, and simply have to imagine famous clashes. Tell us the story of the matches that never were.
