Top Adaikesian smashers Indigo Crawford and Dale Carman will be out of the United Adaikes Tennis Association's reins at the end of the season.

The Adaikes Sports Group, a private sports management company, had issued the statement right after Crawford and Carman arrived in Electrum today for the International Tennis Trophy. The Adaikes Sports Group has also disclosed that the coach accompanying the tennis players in Prescott, Renato Gonzales, has also signed a contract with the sports management company, with the same effectivity as Crawford and Carman. It has been known that the United Adaikes Tennis Association is managing the Adaikesian players currently playing in the NationsStates Tennis Tour.

The Adaikes Sports Group is notable for managing multiple athletes in the country that have represented the United Adaikes in international competitions. The list includes but is not limited to spikers Francis Morce, Angel Atterberry, and Bronto Lobo (who are currently playing in the QOVO.1, the top domestic league in Quebec and Shingoryeo), reigning UABA MVP Brynne Vance, as well as Mikey Walter, Xaviera Burton, and Pastor Parks of the United Adaikes Major League, and high jumper Berto Ewart.

Crawford and Carman are United Adaikes' representatives for the one-of-a-kind tournament in the NationStates Tennis Tour as players compete representing their country in this tournament, a different style than the norm where most of the participants in the NSTT play for their name.

The Adaikesians are drawn in Group C along with the hosts, Electrum, Acastanha, and Strayaroos.

Rederer Hires Court Musician

Elymur Amwan
Friday, December 1, 2034

ADAB CITY – Foger Rederer confirmed today on social media that he has hired local busker Jamal Nasser as his “personal musician”, with the latter mandated to follow him to international tournaments and entertain him with musical performances whenever asked.

“Really happy to announce that I’ve hired Jamal Nasser as my personal musician!!” Rederer announced on his twii.tur and Instantgram accounts under a black-and-white picture of him and Nasser. “Jamal is a very talented guy and I’m happy to help him achieve the fame and exposure that he deserves!!”

Rederer’s statement came following rumors on social media that Nasser was seen arriving at the Adab City International Airport Tuesday and meeting Rederer, along with fellow Adabian tennis stars Emily Romanescu and Amarsin Gandas, at the entrance to the private terminal.

Rederer, Romanescu, and Gandas were flying to Electrum, where they will represent Adab at the International Tennis Trophy starting Saturday. They arrived in the country on Wednesday and it is believed that Nasser was with them.

A source from the Adab Tennis Association told The Adab Times that Nasser is expected to “sing and perform acoustic renditions of songs” in the hotel room whenever Rederer sends for him.

“The life of a tennis star can be tiring at times, moving from one country to another, one hotel to another,” the source said. “But with Jamal, the hope is that he can lighten the situation and provide some much-needed joy and happiness.”

While Nasser was hired by Rederer alone, it is understood that he may also perform for Romanescu and Gandas.

“Of course, that is a possibility,” the source said. “Foger may have been the one who hired him but he’s not the only one traveling across the world, and there’s also Amarsin and Emily and this entourage. Jamal can always perform for them.”

20-year-old Nasser rose to popularity earlier this year when videos of him performing several popular songs on Adab City’s Mustafa Street when viral on MyTube, racking up several million views combined. Mustafa Street is located just two blocks away from the Petros Samp Tennis Academy, where Rederer, Romanescu, and Gandas train, and it is believed that his proximity to the academy may have contributed to his coming to Rederer’s attention.

It is not known how much Nasser will receive in payment as Rederer’s personal musician, however the latter declared in his post that Nasser “will never have to play on the streets again” and he will help him get a recording contract.

“Jamal is one of our country’s great talents,” Rederer said in his post. “I will not let his talents go to waste.”

brought to you by the Dexter Tennis Union

Est. 19 November 2021 Thank You For Reading Volume II Edition I (archive)

We want Moore: head coach, Loy to represent Dexterra in I.T.T.

PRESCOTT, ELECTRUM - the hole-patches on their uniforms glow in the glitzy, glamorous limelight of the world's best tennis players.

For three weeks, Dexterra's ragtag duo of tennis star Michael Loy and head coach John Henry Moore have steadily journeyed into the NationStates Tennis world, culminating with a visit to the round of 16 at the River Cities Open and the round of 32 in Ubung. Now, the scrappy yet intrepid tennis adventurers will take their next step side-by-side, concluding the inaugural Dexter tennis season by carrying the nation's brown and white tricolor into the International Tennis Trophy.

"We have been excited to play for the Dexter people this whole season," said Loy during his first press conference. "And hopefully we will play well on their behalf again."

Team Dexterra will begin the I.T.T. with trial by fire: like David brandishing his sling, the nation is set to play rubbers in singles and doubles against tour leaders Ceni, San Ortelio and Sincluda. The humble pairing of world no. 151 Loy and yet-to-debut Moore will encounter the three highest ranked players in the entire world, the most daunting competition that any racquet-wielding Dexter will have endured this season.

Quipped Moore to reporters, "It's like water balloons versus Death Stars."

Assistant head coach Ruth Ebert, standing in as head coach while Moore competes, stated that the team's primary goal is to pick up points for Loy and elevate his ranking for his next Tier 2 entry. "We face too stiff of competition to realistically expect to get anywhere here," she answered frankly. "So depending on how well [Loy] does here and in his next events, those points could put him in a good position to be seeded at his next Tier 2."

Moore and Ebert at this year's River Cities Open

Team Dexterra also acknowledged the unusualness of head coach Moore's entry into the tournament as a competitor, but nevertheless defended it. "I am still young," Moore said, "and I used to play tennis myself. I still practice with [Loy] daily and make sure to stay in top physical condition."

The decision that the 41-year-old would enter the tournament was not whimsical: Moore is a three-time collegiate national champion, former head coach of his alma mater's tennis team and two-time bronze medalist in men's singles. He follows a rigorous training regimen, plays football as a hobby and is a renaissance athlete who just this month placed second in the annual Dexter National Marathon. "No matter how old I get, I will always be an athlete at heart," Moore said.

Team Dexterra has stated that Moore's entry will happen only this once. National tryouts are still conducting the Dexter Tennis Union's search for a second tennis star to supplement the nation's representation in all future tournaments. Set to wrap 13 February 2022, the winner will be introduced at the following NationStates Tennis tournament and ready to contend in the next I.T.T. iteration.

For Dexter tennis figurehead Loy, however, his heart beats not for points, ranking or national representation, but the sport itself. "I just love and want to play tennis," he joked half-seriously. "Hopefully I do well enough in the round robin that it puts me in a better position at the start of next season and helps me play more at my upcoming tournaments."

During the I.T.T. Group A's first round robin tie, Loy will lead team Dexterra in its attempt to harness the power of the tennis force, aiming brown and white water balloons at Ceni's thermal exhaust port in hopes of blowing up the top seed. In singles, padawans Loy and Moore will take on the monarchical world no. 1 Ardil Navsal and world no. 3 Lonus Varalin, while in their twin doubles premiere they will duel world nos. 5 and 6 Elia and Fia Xal.

Live coverage will be streamed and televised courtesy of Dextennis Media, a subsidiary of the Dexter Tennis Union. THANKS AGAIN

Here's the Britonish team for the ITT...
Prescott, Electrum

For the upcoming International Tennis Trophy, Britonisea is hoping to cause an upset by finishing at the top of the table to qualify straight to the knock-out rounds. Britonisea has been on top form throughout the second half of 2021 with our star-studded line up ready to take us all to the end. We've got Olympic Champions, Elizabeth Quehall (Singles), Leone Na and Abi Forrest (Doubles), Grand Slam Champion, Ricardo Toli and River Cities Open champion Jason Gordon all ready to make waves in Electrum. Ricardo Toli and Elizabeth Quehall most recently won big at the Ubung Open as well in the Doubles', securing Britonisea's third NSTT title to date. With the Britonish team on a roll, they're hoping that the ITT will be a great way to summarise the strength of the team as a whole while also getting the chance to secure some extra points ahead of the Tour Finals. Britonisea was in Pot 2 this year of the competition, the same as any year at the ITT but with a slightly higher skill point than last year.

Britonisea has had a tumultuous history with the ITT. Season 6 (4th event) saw Britonisea fail to qualify past the group stage with Britonish tennis players hardly receiving any points from their time here in Electrum last year. The third International Tennis Trophy was a lot more successful with both the Junior and senior tennis teams making it through to the Semi-Finals, with Derek Dubrovnik and Leo Garry leading the way for Britonisea back then. Things have slightly changed this time around, but some familiar faces still remain on the team - Elizabeth Quehall. Let's have a look at the Britonish team ahead of the first day at the ITT.

DAY 1: BRITONISEA VS GREGARY

SINGLES CONTRIBUTION: RICARDO TOLI, JASON GORDON || DOUBLES CONTRIBUTION: LEONE NA/ABI FORREST

Gregary and Britonisea will play each other first, with Ricardo Toli on board for the singles. While Gregary hasn't fully confirmed their lineup, it is assumed that Ricardo will face Armin Miksa - who he faced at the Ubung Open most recently, beating him in the round of 16 in straight sets. Ricardo will be looking to repeat this performance in Prescott so that he can focus on the Doubles' and singles' match for his next match day. Jason Gordon is assumed to be playing Donat Kis who is ranked slightly below Gordon, with Gordon's recent showing at the River Cities Open sending him up the rankings to land in the mid 30s. It will be an interesting pair up with high hopes that the racquet will swing in favour of the Briton.

DAY 3: BRITONISEA VS TJUNIA

SINGLES CONTRIBUTION: RICARDO TOLI, JASON GORDON || DOUBLES CONTRIBUTION: RICARDO TOLI/ELIZABETH QUEHALL

It will be a difficult day for the Britons on Day 3 as they face the top dogs of the group, TJUNia, with the hope that they could try and win with a chance of qualifying out of this group. If any country could come out and surprise, with the nation's recent form, it's Britonisea. For this day, Ricardo will be playing fourth seed Valentina Spetsova who won the Electrum Slam and will be hoping to win in Electrum again. Jean van de Kloor will be up against Jason Gordon. With both players ranked higher than their Britonish counterparts, it will be a tiresome match for both Britons, but they are both still within a chance.

DAY 5: BRITONISEA VS DISPERTAG

SINGLES CONTRIBUTION: RICARDO TOLI, JASON GORDON || DOUBLES CONTRIBUTION: LEONE NA/ABI FORREST

With no ranking points for the players from Dispertag it's unclear as to whether these players will be any good but there's a strong indication that Britonisea will be able to end on a high here in Electrum. If the matches against TJUNia doesn't go as planned, Britonisea will be hoping to do a clean sweep with the team from Dispertag in order to be one of the best runner ups but until we see them on the court, we can't make any assumptions. Ricardo Toli will be back in action alongside Jason Gordon. Leone Na and Abi Forrest will make a return to the courts for the final day of the rubber for team Britonisea.

You are able to watch the Britonish matches LIVE at the International Tennis Trophy on BVC 2 throughout the day. There will be live coverage of other nations on BVC 3 and online.

The ITT Line-Up

Prescott, Electrum - The end of season for NSTT 7th is nearing as International Tennis Trophy is on the roll. This competition might be the last competition that Pemecutanian players will be playing. It is known that Pemecutanian players are failed to secure any top 8 position in both single and double to be able to enter the Tour Final. This also indicate that Ngurah Putra Muliawan will not be able to defend his title in the Tour Final event. But there's still a possibility that the players will be invited to the Diamond Trophy. For this, we can just wait and see what will happen.

Back to International Tennis Trophy. Pemecutan is back with a relatively the same squad that they are use for the previous edition. Dewa Putu Adrian Putra and Ngurah Putra Muliawan are still becoming their first and second single players. In double, Komang Antari/Kadek Andreawati still become the country's first choice with Oka Sulastra/Luh Putu Yundari as the back up. This time, they are drawn into Group E together with Sharktail, Brookstation and Lisander with the first match is against Lisander.

Here is the line up for the Group Stage:
Match 1 vs Lisander
First Single: Ngurah Putra Muliawan
Second Single: Komang Agus Artawan
Double: Oka Sulastra/Luh Putu Yundari

Match 2 vs Sharktail
First Single: Dewa Putu Adrian Putra
Second Single: Ngurah Putra Muliawan
Double: Komang Antari/Kadek Andreawati

Match 3 vs Brookstation
First Single: Dewa Putu Adrian Putra
Second Single: Dewa Ayu Cintya Dewi
Double: Komang Antari/Kadek Andreawati

Ceni seeks to improve upon last year's finalist showing as it seeks to win second ITT: preview
12/2/2021 - Vyri Arcaina, chief correspondent
Exactly one year after Ceni reentered the international tennis scene, it has fulfilled its legacy by quickly shooting back up to the top of the rankings: Ardil Navsal is world number one in the singles, and Lonus Varalin is not far behind at number three. And in the doubles, Cenian players constitute part of three of the undisputed top four teams on the doubles circuit in the past year. But this last year of success begs the question: Can Ceni reclaim its place at the top of the International Tennis Trophy?

Of course, we'll endeavor to tell you right here at Grand Slam. Before we get to the business end of this tournament here in Prescott, Electrum, though, we first have to get through the group stages, where 24 nations will battle it out for eight spots in the quarterfinals. Let's take a look at Ceni's group, in the order that matches will be played:

Dexterra
Cenian lineup: Dioro Hansil; Botack Andiam; Val Korekal/Gyrachor Rentos

The Dexterran team in this match is a bit of an unknown quantity, especially considering their perplexing decision to put their 41-year-old head coach John Henry Moore in action in their number two singles slot. He'll play alongside Michael Loy, who will occupy the number one singles spot ranked number 151. Of course, the Dexterrans are under no illusions about their success in the tournament, instead hoping for their domestic starlet Loy to pick up enough points to be seeded at the next Tier 2 event.

That laissez-faire attitude to the proceedings, if it can be called that, could bring some wrinkles to the Cenian game plan. Since nothing is on the line for the Dexterrans, well, they could come out to the ITT with all guns blazing and pick up a match against Ceni. Look towards Ceni's debut match against Hebitaka last year, where the Xal sisters lost the dead rubber to a no-name Hebitaka team with absolutely nothing (except points) on the line. And, well, Loy and Moore also certainly motivated by the points.

Of course, another kink could involve the pairing of Val Korekal and Gyrachor Rentos, who have spent the entire year playing with separate partners in Luciano Crepaldi and Sara Zhuo. Can they succeed against another first-time pairing? That's what makes the ITT interesting.

San Ortelio
Cenian lineup: Ardil Navsal; Dioro Hansil; Elia Xal/Fia Xal

And, of course, a matchup between the world number one and the world number three in the group stages will also make things interesting. Even though the CTF has wanted to save Navsal and Varalin for the tournament's knockout stages, it clearly figured that it could not afford to concede the number one slot to Fiorenzo Tartoni, and so it planned accordingly: Navsal would play in this rubber. It might have made more sense for the CTF to slot in Varalin, of course, since the latter has a winning record against Tartoni, while Navsal has one loss against the San Ortelian star: the quarterfinal match at last year's Diamond Trophy.

In the number two slot, the number 55 player Massimo Recinella (currently sitting in contention for the NSTT Finals in doubles with brother Oscar) and self-described "serve-and-volley cannon" will play equally serve-and-volley happy Dioro Hansil. Expect at least one tiebreaker, possibly two, as neither player has really developed the return skills to make many inroads into the other's serve, but also expect for Hansil to put his serious game face on as he makes a last ditch effort to qualify for the NSTT Finals in singles.

And a battle between two sibling pairs will decide the doubles match, should the tie come to that. Of course, the Recinellas are no slouches; while we expect the Xals to win, we don't expect it to be a walkover. In fact, we expect this tie to be incredibly competitive: All three of these matches will be incredibly competitive, and the tie will definitely come down to several critical moments in each match between Ceni and the highest-ranked second seeds in the tournament.

Sincluda
Cenian lineup: Dioro Hansil; Johmer Vales; Coosal Darlcheri/Perger Rianor

And Sincluda will be dangerous as well, especially as doubles partners Dioro Hansil and Neth Soulner will face off against each other. Expect quite a few trick shots and moments on levity on the court as the friends try not to take the match against each other too seriously. Sincluda's number two player, Barklay Raiken-Telley, is also ranked within the top 100, and she'll pose a firm challenge for Johmer Vales to face. The partnership of Raiken-Telley and Jennadora Elaisey, though, might prove to be Sincluda's weak spot: Each ranked outside the top 200, the pairing will face an uphill climb against the number four team in the world, Darlcheri and Rianor.

Styliani fell on the ground with her face downward. She was grasping for breath.
" The match is not over yet ? Is it. Is this what you are gonna do in the finals ?" shouted her coach from the other side of the net.
" I am tired. You are not playing properly. You are purposely trying to make me run all around the court."
" Is your opponent going to come and tell you his moves ? Aren't you experienced enough to understand that."
Styliani got up and faced her coach once again. The practice continued. There was definitely something wrong with her coach's behaviour for the past few days. Perhaps it was due to the series of losses by his players. This time, coach Marcus didn't want his players perform bad, thus he started putting them through this series of practices.
" What's wrong with your focus ? You need to push the ball, a mere touch won't let this happen. Do you have any idea how difficult the finals are gonna be ?"
Coach Marcus was not a popular figure within the tennis circle. His own students hated him but he was still the best. Styliani never wanted to be coached by him but her father had always told her that he is the only one who can make her a tennis player. And now she was practising with her coach before the Final Tennis Tour of the year. Her loss in the Ubung Open had completely devastated her. At this point of time, she was uncertain about the future but she had no choice but to continue.

Practice was over and now she had to go to lunch with her friends. Konstadinos was waiting for her in a restaurant in Prescott.
" How was practice today ?"
" Fine I guess."
" Oh my dear Electrum. This is the country which made me popular. This is the country where I lost my medal by a bit. This is a country where everything began." , he sighed.
Konstadinos Papadimitrou, once titled the best player of Brookstation was at his career's worst. His situation was by far worse than Styliani, getting knocked out of each and every competition at an early stage. But there was something which still made him go on. It was something that he himself couldn't quite understand.
" I hope everything goes well", said Styliani breaking the silence.
" I don't know why I even play tennis anymore. Perhaps it is because of you."
Konstadinos and Styliani had developed a relation which they themselves couldn't understand. They spoke about the tournament over a cup of coffee. By the end of their conversation, both of them found the encouragement again. They regained their passion for tennis. Perhaps, their presence really made each other feel good.

The Team

It was an airport much like many others, and it contained much the same. The pizza place for families, the smoothie shop for health freaks, the lounge with the overpriced drinks for suits, the sports bar for those who preferred their drinking more down to earth, (while still ridiculously overpriced) and so on. Different brands and franchises depending on where you were, but still very much the same.

Dorotea Granit had picked the sports bar. She sat by herself in a corner peeling an egg and sipping on a small beer. Thankfully it wasn’t a very long transfer, just two hours, and she had every intention of spending that time well away from anyone else in the Gnejsian tennis entourage. She’d managed to avoid everyone at Port Kejm International Airport, and also during the flight here, wherever here was. Her little corner of the sports bar had seemed perfect, tucked away at an awkward angle, it shielded her from view. Alas, it would not be enough. About an hour before boarding for the plane to Prescott was to commence, Georg Heraklit and Arne Oxwald showed up out of nowhere and sat down at her table.

“Hey, Dorotea, man, you’re difficult to track down,” Georg Heraklit said, helped himself to a gulp of Dorotea’s beer, and signaled to the waiter that he wanted the same, only larger. “That’s the idea,” Dorotea mumbled quietly. Georg continued, “I wanted to pick your brain a bit, before we get down there and the madness starts, you know, I’m facing Sabanero and, well, any pointers?” Dorotea gave him a look that lasted a long time. Then she shrugged and said “Just pound him.” Georg nodded. “Ok, ok, solid advice. But, you know, pound him how? Weak spots, what worked for you when you took down during the clay, etc. You know, tips.”

Dorotea gave him another long look. Then she looked at Oxwald. His hair and beard had grown into a tangled mess with tiny dreads here and there. He also looked tired and disoriented. Georg noticed her eyes on Oxwald, and said “Yeah, don’t worry about Arne, he’s just a bit out of focus from traveling. Did you know they fucked up his ticket home from Ubung? Yeah, missed flights here and there, wrong destinations, a real mess. He hasn’t actually been back, we just found him wandering around here in the tax free section. Anyways, he’ll come around. How about them tips?”

Dorotea turned her gaze on Georg once more. Then she started shaking her head. “I’m not giving you any tips, I’m not your mother. Do your own research.” Georg picked up his beer and took a big gulp of it, before answering, “You know we’re a team down there right?” Dorotea adjusted her headband and downed the last of her glass. “I’m not on your team, I’m playing for points. My points. You do your thing and I’ll do mine.” She got up and started walking away. Georg frowned and took another swig. “Do you believe that?” he said to Arne, who had fallen asleep with his head on the table.

A Chronicle of a Death Foretold 2 December 2021

Dispertag is finally making its debut on the international tennis scene, specifically at the ITT that will take place this week in the city of Prescott, Electrum; and what about a catastrophic premiere, but expected. The group draw held yesterday placed our nation in group B, surrounded by countries with great expectations and a great cast of tennis players. Among them, the winner of the Open Steinigestrasse: Jean van de Kloor (TJUN-IA); or the winners of the Mercedinian and River Cities Open: Ricardo Toli and Jason Gordon, respectively (Britonisea). The three rival nations in question are TJUN-ia, Britonisea, and Gergary. Public opinion counted on a less demanding pairing for Dispertag's first time, but neither can it be said that luck was against us. If you could wait for a miraculous phase step, there are other great and successful nations playing this tournament, including host Electrum.

As the headline indicates, today's chronicle is one of sadness over the defeat of all our tennis players in their respective debuts. However, Dispertag is proud of them for having fought the matches to the end against such difficult opponents and for having stood up. First of all, our female national star Andrea Ortiz Buenafuente was playing on court number 1 this morning before 5000 impatient spectators, who wanted to premiere the day of confrontation between the nations of TJUN-ia and Dispertag in a great encounter of the titans. The nerves of the first time played a trick on our tennis player Andrea, who lost the first set 6-1 against Ken Pollock. A bad start, with a break in Andrea's first serve game and two flawless Ken Pollock games, which left a 3-0 lead already to start for the TJUN-ia player, was not enough for Andrea to give up. She tried to get ahead of her serve to 3-1. Unfortunately, the opponent's clairvoyant superiority caused her to conceal the 4-1 and a second break for the 5-1. Ken Pollock finally only had to top the set to 6-1. After this brief set that left the public wanting more and better tennis, Andrea decided to resist, and the first three games she succeeded. Good tennis was seen in each player's first three service games, with long rallies and a wide variety of shots. However, Andrea conceded the 4-3 by a poorly made dropshot that meant the passage of 30 equal to 40-30 for Pollock. A second serve from Andrea allowed Pollock to take a more aggressive position, throwing the ball into her body, with the consequent break. From that moment on, everything unfolds quickly and the opponent plays a game of first serves and smashes that made the comeback impossible. The match ends with a 6-1,6-3 in favor of Ken Pollock and the first victory for the TJUN-ia team. Later, at the press conference, Andrea said she was very happy to finally compete and she promised to work hard to prepare for the next match.

The second match that was played faced our male player Javier Arrabal Sáez, a native of the city of Sagunto, against Philippe Baloui. The bet was clearly favorable to the TJUN-ia player, but our competitor was able to put up a bit of war. The first set went quite normally. Intense exchanges, with a clear prominence from Javier's dominant right in his serve turns, which got him an early break for the favorable 3-1. However, inexperience allowed Philippe to easily counterbreak, taking advantage of Arrabal's confidence, leaving the match in a draw, 3-3. Philippe then played a great game that allowed him to take the lead at 3-4 and even, with two magnificent aces, make the break for 3-5. Closing the set with a 3-6 was a breeze. Although it is true that in the second set Philippe arrived with the inertia of the first, playing splendidly, it was not enough to beat our player. The game continued its natural course until 5-5, when Philippe lifted his serve for 5-6 and was able to take the set and the match by breaking an already worn and tired Arrabal. We later heard the praises of Javier Arrabal Sáez to the fighting game of his opponent, Philippe Baloui, and his desire to train thoroughly to continue fighting this tournament.

Finally, the doubles match was played between the brothers Kendra Fulhampton and Michael Fulhampton of TJUI-ia and our players Antonio de las Heras Catalán and Guillermo Melgar Herrera, childhood friends at the Centro de Tecnificación de Tenis Nacional (CTTN) (National Tennis Training Facility). Some might say that family relationships make players get along and play better, perhaps because there is a mental connection, and it is certainly what Kendra and Michael have shown in this game. Their victory was round, with an initial 6-2 that leaves no doubt of their superiority on the track. Their victory in the first set allowed them to save their strength for the next match by playing the second set more calmly. Despite the unsuccessful attempts by De las Heras and Melgar, who managed to win up to 4 games, the TJUI-ia brothers prevailed with an indisputable 6-2, 6-4. Both players, Antonio and Guillermo, admitted having played poorly at the press conference, while praising the great game shown by the deserving winners of the match.

As you can see, the adventure of our dispertagueños has only just begun. Although we only heard bad news today, we put all our trust in them for the next match against Gergary. The road ahead is still long and hard, but with effort and a lot of practice our players, Andrea, Javier, Antonio and Guillermo, will be sure to reach new achievements and stepping stones and climb in the international classification.

ITT - Day 1
VALENS WINS, BUT LISANDER STARTS ITT WITH A DEFEAT
Laura Lins, from Somer, Electrum

Our tennis players returned to Electrum for the first time after the Olympics, but on the first day they did not have much success. The team played in the twilight against the strong Pemecutan side, losing the tie, 2-1. The team's victory came in the singles match from captain Anne Valens, who beat Komang Artawan with a double 6-4. Valens, who is a strong competitor on hard, was able to manage the tempo and always have a one game lead.

Unfortunately, the same did not happen with Florian Durigan, who has in clay her best performance. Durigan was caught by the fast game of Ngurah Putra Muliawan, losing both sets, 6-2 and 6-1. Similar result occurred in the doubles, where Katina Gallion and Madeleine Quinn were also dominated by Pemecutanians Oka Sulastra and Luh Putu Yundari.

BRESSEN-KORF AS A FAMILY DOUBLE: YOUNG STELLA DEBUTS FOR NATIONAL TEAM!
For the second day of competitions, Lisander faces Brookstation, that won the first tie against Sharktail, in what can be a direct dispute for the second place of the Group E. However, there's no signal Lisander will have maximum force against these opponents. The team enters the rotation of players planned by ALTA (Association of Lisander Tennis Athletes), and the team should be different. Flora Benaglio and Scott Durin, both Olympians, replace the 'starters', while the mixed doubles duo of Filipe Korf and Stella Bressen make their NSTT tournament debut as a doubles pair.

Korf and Bressen are brothers, the children of Alice Bressen, a three-time winner of the national circuit in 1989, 1990 and 1991, and her husband, rugby player Andreas Korf. The younger sister competed as Stella Korf as a child, but in order to get more media attention for her career, she started entering events under her mother's surname. The older brother teamed up with Danil Brandet for some time, having competed at the Astello International and the Olympic Games. Both are registered B-rating players, meaning they are professionals with little experience and few prizes won. Stella is regarded as one of the promising players of lisanderian tennis. Donning the "green jersey" tomorrow for her international debut, alongside her brother, within a tournament that marks the end of the season, seems like a way to armour Stella, giving her some confidence and experience before she launches herself as a Singles player. She's currently the last name on the list of players, but if depending on the efforts of her family, she will soon reach very higher places.

Playing at MD2:
Flora Benaglio
Scott Durin
Filipe Korf/Stella Bressen

Adabian Players Win on First Day of ITT

Elymur Amwan
Sunday, December 3, 2034

PRESCOTT – Adab’s debut in the International Tennis Trophy (ITT) got off to a good start in Prescott, Electrum today as the country’s three 18-year-old representatives, Foger Rederer, Emily Romanescu, and Amarsin Gandas, cruised to relatively easy victories over Group D opponents Beepee.

Mercedinian Open quarterfinals and River Cities Open doubles champion Romanescu emerged victorious 6-3, 7-5 over Dusan Ventaromovich in a match which saw the Adabian abandon her usual baseline approach in the first set in favor of an increased tendency to serve and volley. Her approach worked as Ventaromovich struggled against his young opponent’s speed and ability to score with perfectly-timed volleys and slices as he advanced from the baseline. Although Ventaromovich managed to take the second, five, and sixth games, he ultimately could not manage Romanescu from comfortably taking the first set.

The second set was more competitive, with Ventaromovich showing increased footwork and getting in an increased amount of powerful forehands. Ventaromovich took on a 0-2 lead, but Romanescu then came back to tie the set at 2-2 before sailing away with the next two games to lead 4-2. Ventaromovich won the seventh and eighth games to again produce a tie at 4-4, then took the ninth game to lead 4-5. But he was slowing down, whereas Romanescu, who retreated towards the baseline, managed to conserve her energy and demonstrated a burst of speed over the next three games, pummeling her opponent with passing shots left and right and producing a cross-court lob to take the final game and with it the match.

The Ventaromovich match was only one of two that Romanescu participated in today, as she afterwards joined Amarsin Gandas, with whom she won the River Cities doubles title, to triumph 6-3, 6-3 over Ivo Dhjukharevic and, again, Ventaromovich. Dhjukharevic and Ventaromovich showed plenty of grit, turning an early Romanescu/Gandas 2-0 lead in the first set into 3-3 in their favor through a series of rallies, but appeared to overexert themselves in the process, allowing the Adabians battled back to win the next three games and secure the first set. The second set was more or less the same, although this time it was Dhjukharevic and Ventaromovi who took the early 0-2 lead before Romanescu and Gandas outmaneuvered them to win the following three games. Both sides then traded the next two games to make it 4-3, before the Adabians ran away with the final two games of the match.

As for Foger Rederer, the bombastic tennis star easily brushed aside Goran Bogdanovich 6-2, 6-1. Seemingly intent on ending the match quickly, Rederer started off quickly from the baseline and did not lower his pace throughout the first set, immediately forcing Bogdanovich on the defensive with a litany of powerful groundstrokes which sent the latter stumbling back and forth across the width of the court as he struggled – often in vain – to return the shots. Bogdanovich managed to take the sixth and seventh games after Rederer committed a double fault early in the sixth, but by this time the Adabian was already up 5-2 and Bogdanovich’s comeback proved little more than a delaying action, as the Adabian settled unfinished business with an overhead to close out the first set.

Rederer relaxed somewhat in the second set and adopted a more defensive stance, relying less on producing winners and more on Bogdanovich committing errors, with the first set clearly having taken its toll on the latter. While this did lead to more rallies, they only ended up depleting even more of Bogdanovich’s energy and leaving him on the losing side. Bogdanovich taking the second game eventually proved a false mirage, as Rederer easily ran roughshod over him for the rest of the match, peppering him with a mixture of passing shots and volleys almost at will and leading him into rallies which he almost always lost.

Following the match, Rederer pointed to his newly-appointed “personal musician” Jamal Nasser in the crowd and commanded him to sing “Old MacDonald Had a Farm” to “bring joy and happiness into this arena”. Nasser duly obeyed, and soon virtually the entire court was singing (or humming) along with him, including both Rederer and Bogdanovich.

Not a bad start to this tournament.

Watching from a distance

Ping said the microwave. The humming died away quickly and dinner was ready. Fredrik Stagnelius slowly got out of his chair. He threw a glance at the tv screen before moving towards the kitchen. Oxwald and Heraklit were down three to nothing in the second set.

He sighed and opened the microwave door. The tiny plastic container was steaming. He took it out and gently – as to not get burned – peeled away the thin layer covering his chicken korma. It was a slightly gold-tinted but mostly brownish sludge, with a few pale pieces of meat just breaking the surface of sauce, like drowning men gasping for air. It looked rather pathetic, much like Heraklit and Oxwald's showing against Sabanero and Tabos. Fredrik grabbed a fork, poured himself a glass of prune juice and returned to his comfy chair by the tv.

They were down five to nothing now, and it didn’t look like they were going to turn that around anytime soon. "I could've probably done fairly well. Me and Dorotea weren't too shabby last year," Fredrik thought to himself as he plucked out a piece of chicken and started nibbling at it. It was stale and dry, despite being covered in sauce. There was no real flavour, only a lingering sense of aridity, much like Oxwald's backhand.

He had expected to be down there. His name was on the roster, after all. Third single, and second double, paired with Augusta. His early exit from Ubung had given him ample time to train on his own back at the club, and he felt like he was in good form. But the GTF had never gotten in touch. They used to, with information about travel itineraries and similar details.

When the opening games were only two days away, he had reached out to GTF liaison Herman Tegnér. It seemed that the higher levels of the GTF were unaware that Fredrik (or Augusta) was actually on the list. Apparently, as Tegnér was happy to explain, the GTF Department of Registration and Logistics (DRL) had started experimenting with fully automated processes for signing up on the international circuit based on rankings. It seemed this algorithm had deemed it prudent to include Fredrik (and a second doubles pair), whereas the GTF Department of International Affairs (DIA) had always only planned on a group of three, the two highest ranked singles, and the highest ranked doubles player paired with the highest ranked single. Fredrik asked what their contingency plan was, if one of the three got injured, sick or something similarly unfortunate. Tegnér went quiet for a minute or two, before acknowledging that having a backup was probably not a bad idea, and that that might've actually been the reason the algorithm had signed up Fredrik and Fredrik/Augusta to being with, he'd have to check with IT in the DRL of course. Fredrik was told to stand by, and be ready to leave for Electrum on short notice. He had not heard anything after that, but he had stayed by the phone, and had his bags and gear packed.

Just as Sabanero yet again slammed a straight forehand past Arne Oxwald, and with that ending the game, the phone rang. Fredrik, who had placed it in close proximity to his chair, answered quickly. It turned out to be a sales representative who wanted to know if Fredrik was interested in switching to a deal based on spot price for his electricity. He was not. While they said it was smart, he had always distrusted that sort of regime. He took another bite of his korma. It had grown cold.

Tiefighters: Dexterra's force of will not enough to rebel against top opponent

PRESCOTT, ELECTRUM - the scoreboard brought forth a most dreadfully anticipated - yet silver-lined - reality.

In the International Tennis Trophy Group A's first tie, Dexterra's hopeful tennis knights Michael Loy and John Henry Moore dueled the strongest adversaries of this brief Dexter tennis season. Taking on Cenian singles players Botack Andiam and Dioro Hansil as well as doubles team Val Korekal/Gyrachor Rentos (in what was a change of expected competition), the nation fought to stay alive but posted nary a set.

"We knew this could happen, but we still gave everything we had," said Loy during his post-match press conference. Determinedly narrowing his eyes, he continued, "And we will again give everything we have in our next round robin matchup."

Moore opened Dexterra's I.T.T. bid in his singles match against Andiam. His first-ever NationStates Tennis attempt, Moore valiantly sparred Andiam to a tiebreak that marginally slipped out of reach; in the second set, Andiam pushed further and drove Moore past break point at 5-3 to complete the match. In the tie's next singles match, Loy had hoped to even the Dexter-Cenian contest, but costly errors and a masterclass opponent saw him out in a 3-6, 2-6 shellacking. Finally, in their joint doubles introduction, Loy and Moore were thwarted by the much more experienced and seasoned Korekal/Rentos pair in a 2-6, 3-6 dismissal.

Said acting head coach Ruth Ebert, "Not the results we wanted of course, but the tournament is not yet done for and neither are we."

Despite team Dexterra's dismal performance, that they participated at all aided their primary goal of gaining more points for Loy in advance of his next Tier 2 entry. The points he earned from the straight set sweep, though modest, actually increased Loy's world ranking by ten places, inching him closer towards a Tier 2 seeding that could position him to outperform his River Cities round of 16 finish. But Loy's focus, ever sharpening, is always tennis. "I am in my element whenever I swing a racquet, and I'll enter any tournament that might help me play more at future events," he said.

Moore echoed his sentiment. "We want to play more and for longer," he stated. "We know that early on things are tougher, and hopefully in the end our efforts will strengthen us."

Team Dexterra once again acknowledged the perplexity of Moore's entry as a competitor given that he is normally head coach, but reiterated that it is a temporary solution to a temporary problem. The Dexter Tennis Union was formed only recently and has cast a wide net in search of more national tennis representation; tryouts have been ongoing since 25 October and are scheduled to wrap 13 February.

However, the D.T.U. Board of Directors have already agreed to vote (during their upcoming monthly meeting 17 December) on hastening or outright canceling further tryouts in order to expedite Dexter tennis support. "We have already seen a number of highly qualified, highly talented players in singles and doubles who may be able to compete in January," said D.T.U. president Rebecca Margareta in an interview. "Many board members recognize that Dexter tennis could benefit from sooner support, so perhaps they will vote to provide it."

Currently, though, the immediate focus of Dexter tennis is tomorrow's next I.T.T. tie. Set to square off against Sincluda, team Dexterra somewhat still finds itself in what Moore described as a "water balloons versus Death Stars" situation. The Sincludan singles entrants seem confirmed as world nos. 38 Neth Soulner and 83 Barklay Raiken-Tellay, while their doubles team appears to be Jennadora Elaisey/Barklay Raiken-Tellay. Asked if they were ready, team Dexterra responded with a resounding, "Yes."

Live coverage will be streamed and televised courtesy of Dextennis Media, a subsidiary of the Dexter Tennis Union. THANKS AGAIN

DEUCE: A Good Tie For The Youth

Postby TJUN-ia » Fri Dec 03, 2021 2:35 pm

Our 2nd season of NSTT play is nearly at an end and to celebrate, it's time for the good ol' ITT. The ITT is where you fight for your country's right to be declared the Best Tennis Nation in the World and with how good we've been since the return of the NSTT last year, many back home were hoping that our guys and gals can challenge for the crown as a top seed. That effort began today against an NSTT debutant in the form of Dispertag and with the big names allowed to rest, today was mostly all about the development of the future as some T2 players took to the court to do battle for their homeland.

Match one was between Andrea Ortiz Buenafuente and TJUN-ia's Ken Pollock, the best T2 player in the rankings by 2 points but he acted like he was the dominant #1 down there in the media. Many consider him an unhinged version of Austin McDanielson and his ego will certainly not be put down for now considering his performance in his one and only ITT game. He decimated his debuting opponent in the first set, not giving her time to breathe at all as racked up 6-1 in about 40 minutes of play. Andrea Ortiz Buenafuente did fight back somewhat in the 2nd set to at least make her debut match respectable, but Pollock pulled away in the end to give TJUN-ia both the 6-1, 6-3 win and the 1-0 lead in this series.

Match two involved the most experienced of our players as Javier Arrabal Sáez had to try and face L'artiste himself in the form of TJUN-ian #4 and World #38 Philippe Baloui. This match was expected to be no contest but ended up being actually respectable as Sáez unpredictable service game allowed him to take a 3-1 lead in the 1st set. Baloui played the counter from there to win 5 games in a row and win the set 6-3, but Sáez had sent a message that he was certainly capable of being a problem and that would be proven in set 2, where both players didn't want to give anything up and it ended up being 5-5 at one point. Sáez could've easily taken this set, he was that good, but in the end, Baloui's experience got him to the win at 6-3, 7-5 - a great performance by him, but obvious plaudits have to go to Sáez and we feel that this player has potential for the future should Dispertag return to the NSTT for the final round of this season and next season overall.

So, TJUN-ia already had a 2-0 lead and the tie secured, but still needed to play the Doubles matchup to try and get the sweep. That would mean our opponent's finest, Antonio de las Heras Catalán and Guillermo Melgar Herrera, would take on the best of our two T2 pairings - the Fulhampton Twins of Kendra and Michael. The Twins from the Capitalhaven't had many chances to show off everything they can do over the course of their debut campaign, so they certainly needed a performance like the one they produced today. The first set wasn't that close as the siblings beat the childhood friends 6-2 to show that a familial bond can work well in this environment despite everyone already knowing this via the Li Bo Twins). Catalán and Herrera did fight back a bit in Set 2 to win 4 games, but it wasn't going to delay the impending sweep. The kids are alright and, to be fair, so are Dispertag. They can both be good one day...

Not a bad start at all, but we'll need to build on that for the next 2 games against better opposition. Britonisea will be tough opponents to face and because of this, the big guns will be coming out for this one - Spetsova, van de Kloor, Makauchi and de la Rosa - a who's who of TJUN-ian tennis right now. Only the best for Britonisea, I guess?

GETTING READY FOR TJUN-IA - TOLI READY FOR TWO MATCHES TOMORROW...

Tomorrow Britonisea will play the highest-ranked team in the group, TJUN-IA - but can our country beat TJUN-ia to secure a top-place finish? Ricardo Toli, Jason Gordon and Elizabeth Quehall play tomorrow...

Image
Britonisea readies itself for TJUNia: Can Britonisea cause an upset in Electrum as it plays the group leaders tomorrow?

Britonisea started off pretty well against Gregary who was the third-ranked in the group. Jason Gordon played against Donat Kis and managed to beat him in straight sets 7-5, 6-4 in a match where the both of them managed to keep with each other throughout the whole match, but Jason had the edge when he needed to have it and won breakpoints right at the end of each set. At the end of the match, "I'm really happy that I won that match. After doing so well at the River Cities Open, and not as well at the Ubung Open - maybe not as well as I wanted to...but yeah, a great start for Britonisea and the team." With Britonisea 1-0 in the lead, it was time for Ricardo Toli to play his first match at the International Tennis Trophy against Armin Miksa - but Toli was on it with Miksa only concerning 6 games out of a total of 18. The match lasted a total of just over one hour, with Toli leaving the court pretty promptly to get some rest in for Britonisea's matches against TJUN-ia. Olympic Champions, Leone Na and Abi Forrest were also in top form in their match, thrashing Alexandra Barna and Cecilia Riesz in straight sets in a similar match to Toli v Miksa. With Britonisea winning 3-0 in around four hours, it was a great start for the team and they looked strong going into the next round. Before Britonisea v Gregary, TJUN-ia played against Dispertag who struggled a tiny bit against the strongest team in the group. TJUN-ia will be back tomorrow against Britonisea with a completely different team; Spetsova - winner of the Electrum Slam, van de Kloor, Makauchi and de la Rosa - bringing out the cream of the crop to beat Britonisea. Ricardo Toli will have one of the toughest matches to date against Spetsova in one of his first matches of this season with a player ranked higher than him. We spoke to him today about his chances tomorrow;

"Yeah, I am really excited about going out there on the court and playing my match. Regardless of the outcome tomorrow, I know that the amount of work that Britonisea has done this year so far has been immense and I think that looking to the future, there's no reason as to why we can't be the highest-ranked team next year. I think that the team are ecstatic about being back with such great form that we're going into the next matchday with the belief that we can do it! Even if we lose, we still have a chance to qualify as well and we are definitely within a chance of doing that. Spetsova will be an awesome challenger tomorrow, and I know that Gordon has a huge match against van de Kloor and I'll be cheering for him fiercely from the sidelines. Lizzy and I have got a big match against the TJUN-ia pair tomorrow as well so we'll just have to see how that goes. Make sure to watch us and cheer us on, I know a lot of people at home are doing that anyway!"

Gregary and Dispertag will be fighting for survival tomorrow. Gregary will want to win against Dispertag to avoid being at the bottom of the table before their match against the TJUN-ia.

Sincluda Sees Disappointing Debut at International Tennis Trophy

Article written by Mike Morrow

Sincludan tennis fans have had a huge reason to get excited recently. As the International Tennis Trophy began, spectators got to see Sincluda appear for the first time at the event. However, fans of Sincludan players like Neth Soulner and Barklay Raiken-Tellay got only disappointment following the matchup with powerhouse San Ortelio.

"I didn't show up," says Jennadora Elaisey, who played alongside Raiken-Tellay in the doubles match. "I was out of my headspace. I let too many balls get by with barely an effort to chase them. I let down Barklay [Raiken-Tellay] tonight. I've got it set in my mind that I won't let this happen next time!" While Elaisey believes that she caused the loss on the doubles court, Raiken-Tellay also takes the blame. "Coach [Jennadora Elaisey] was playing good, forcing 'em into bad positions. I just hit the ball into the net now and then." Despite both players claiming responsibility for the loss, it is clear that unforced errors were the ultimate demise, with 25 having piled up throughout the match.

Meanwhile, Raiken-Tellay also faced defeat in the singles game, 4-6 4-6, at the hands of Andrea Vergani. "Even then, I was off my game," she says. "I actually felt I started out strong, deflecting some pretty powerful shots. I slipped from there, though." Indeed, Raiken-Tellay started the first set by going up two breaks, 3-0. However, a humbling two games in which Raiken-Tellay managed not a single point deflated the Sincludan, who eventually lost the set. Raiken-Tellay nearly led a comeback in the second set after falling to be down four games to love, but ultimately failed, losing the match.

The closest and "most exhilarating" match of the evening, as Sincludan President Amity Trinity, who was in attendance, remarked, came when the top-ranked players from each nation battled it out. Soulner, ranked 38, faced world number 1 Fiorenzo Tartoni. The match looked like it would live up to the hype that had been played up by Sincludan Athletic Network sportscaster Johnathan Ramey, who, in the hours leading up to the match, described it as "the greatest chance for an upset in the tournament." The first point consisted of a 38-shot rally complete with dropshots, narrow saves, a nail-biting moment at the net, and, in signature Soulner fashion, a tweener that ended the point by landing half a centimeter long. Tartoni and Soulner traded holds until a nerve-wracking 9th game, the score being 4-4, Soulner serving. After leading the game with an ace, Soulner found himself suddenly flustered by Tartoni's wide toolkit. Following two unforced errors and one winner, Tartoni was presented with a break point, 15-40. Soulner faulted the first serve, and played the second serve extremely safely. Tartoni took advantage and hit a cannon return shot, which was looking to be a winner, until Soulner took a last-second dive to save the point. In the process, Soulner scraped his knee, requiring a short medical timeout to wrap up the wound. Following the injury, Soulner did not win another point in the set. The following set, however, saw an offensive Soulner take a decisive 6-2 victory. While this gave hope to Sincludan fans, Soulner quickly displayed exhaustion from the long and hard match. Tartoni took an equally decisive third set 6-2, ending the match. "It was a great experience, although I'm disappointed by the loss," says Soulner. "I'm hoping to come back stronger next time around."

Critics Blast Soulner for "Detrimental, Match-Losing" Style

Article written by Shar'Tina

While Neth Soulner competes at the International Tennis Trophy, some people have taken to criticizing his "playful" style.

"That tweener cost him the point. A simple forehand would've resulted in a winner. Playing like this is detrimental and loses the match. What the heck are you doing @N_Soulner ??" commented New Heights Tennis Academy owner Richard Yarlin from his Agili account. A user by the name of "@XxBall_LordxX" replied with, "ikr? wtf solner is a complete idoit any shot ANY SHOT wouldve been better."

Others attacked the world number 38 via television. "Silly Sporting Shenanigans" host Jen Mayerium laughed at a clip of the shot, calling it "the dumbest thing I've seen this week." Anchor for alternative source Wolf News Will Omiley used it to attack both Soulner and President Amity Trinity. "Clearly, all these dumb initiatives are doing is making cretins like these represent us on the world stage."

Others have come to the defense of Soulner in response to the criticism. "This is how he plays the game. While I'm not a fan of his playful style, it's nobody's place to tell him to change it. And quite frankly, one point isn't going to decide the match," says Sincludan player Chak'Alley. Also coming to Soulner's defense was fellow player Stan Shaw. "I admire his style. I don't see any problems with it. In fact, I kind of aspire to his mindset. It's all about fun with him."

Soulner has yet to respond to the comments.

The Turnip: A fatwa is declared on Foger Rederer
by Sweet-T, citizen journalist

Janet Riley, tennis prodigy and part-time wrist model has declared a fatwa on Foger Rederer after he declared a 'holy war' against Riley. Of course, Rederer proved successful in that battle as he hired several crusades of armies to unsuccessfully capture the Gangga Assembly Hall in Ubung (including at one point a children's crusade) which had the unfortunate side effect of making Riley ultraparanoid of any projectiles that went her way. This included the tennis balls that Rederer would serve at her -- Riley would simply scream, fling her racquet in the air and run away.

Anyways. Standing on the table at the press conference after Electrum's victory over Strayaroos in the ITT, the Electrumite beat her chest as she proclaimed, "No one besmirches my name while I'm still alive, and besmirching me is the same as disparaging Electrum!"

After it took a few seconds for her to jump back down and sit on her preassigned chair next to a shellshocked Andrew Simmons, Riley continued by banging her fist on the table and said, "I call all patriotic Electrumites to raise arms and beat up Foger Rederer immediately. And whoever gets kicked out by security shall be considered a martyr and worshipped forever by all Electrumites." Simmons chipped in. "1, 2, 3, 4 I declare a fatwa, 5, 6, 7 8, try to scare him straight!"

It's unclear how Rederer will react but it will most likely be in the form of a WhoTube video where he will sit in front a set and answer questions about the fatwa from a pair of disembodied heads.

Natanians and Nosts debuted on this year's ITT with defeats in all games. The loss against The Grearish Union, put the team in last place after the first matchday tied with next opponents Beepee, who lost to Adab.
Mihaela Ioana Prisco who only came back to international tennis last year, after a two-year hiatus, lost to Teegan Sosa. The first set was clearly dominated by Sosa, after Mihaela Ioana Prisco won the first game, ended 6x3.The second set was extremelly hard fought, where in the end,Teegan was able to win thanks to a mix of "luck" and physical form.
Hana Kaori, who had been called up to last year's ITT but played for the first time today, lost to Jeff Rogers after three sets. After punishing Rogers for his several mistakes by 6x2 on the first set,and bringing happiness to Natanians and Nosts, she lost the second set, equally by 6x2,to an inspired Jeff. The third set was close, but ended up with Jeff Rogers defeating Hana Kaori by 7x5,and taking the match.
Last to play were Iohanna Márcia Enderssen-Moura and Maria Cláudia Amúlio, who faced a combination of Jeff Rogers and Martha McNeil. The last game was surely the most beautiful, with both sides playing excellent tennis.Unfortunately, both sets ended 7x5 in favour of The Grearish Union.

Postby Brookstation » Fri Dec 03, 2021 11:26 pm

Styliani on the tennis court, could not have looked anything but a pure tennis player. There was something in the way she dressed up , the way she stood, holding the racquet in her hand, the way she looked at her opponent. It was these qualities which made her look like a complete tennis player as if tennis was stamped all over her.

Styliani started cautiously. She was more than usually anxious to score points and she meant to take no risk or try no new shot in the match. She has seen her opponent, Alya Elyas practice and she knew that her opponent wouldn't be easy to defeat.
The first game was in Alya's favour. A wrong positioning and lack of pace gave Alya the upper hand. However, Styliani began to catch up with things. Styliani started dominating from the second game. It seemed as if things were in her favour for once. Styliani's masterly treatment of the ball had impressed the spectators and there was a popular desire among the Brook spectators to see how he would deal with Alya's slower hits. It was generally anticipated that Styliani will do something special with the green ball. Styliani had more or less gained her confidence after winning 3 games. She continued playing with her flair while staying on her guard.
If the spectators had expected Styliani to begin any firework effect with the ball in the first set, they were disappointed. She played throughout the set slowly and steadily. It wouldn't be wrong to say that the audience were quite bored to see the ball going past the net without Styliani pulling out her trick. However the audience's hunger was satisfied in the penultimate and ultimate game of the first set when Styliani knew that she was in a position to play her shots for which the audience were waiting.

Her treatment of the second set was not up to the mark. The ball was well up, slow and spinning to great extent. Perhaps if the ball would've been allowed to hit the ground with a greater impact, it would've been better for her.
The ball dropped on her side with a thud and ran along one side of the court. Styliani had lost yet another game. The game score was now in Alya's favour. Styliani managed to make a comeback getting two back to back scores in her favour.
' Get to them Styliani,' shouted her coach irritably as Styliani flicked the ball over the net. 'Get to them.'
' Sir, please..'
' Don't speak, focus on your game. ' replied her coach.
The expected happened. The ball was a slow long-hop and hit the ground at about the same spot where Styliani had never gone. A howl of applause rose from the audience, mostly the ones from Sharktail, and Styliani, with the feeling the these type of shots was too good to be true went to the bench to drink some water.
There are moments when a sort of panic seizes a player. This had now happened with Styliani. The biggest tournament of the year and here she was playing for her nation and matters had come down to the last set.
The third set began. She was not in her perfect senses. She suddenly decided to abandon science and hit shots wherever she could and ran amok. She lost her stateliness and increased her vigour. Her whole idea now was to hit fast. When a slow player starts hitting fast shots, it is usually as well to be playing on the other side of the court. Her opponent had snatched the first two games of the set and now she was in despair.
' Damn it. ' she said and came to her bench to change her racquet. Her coach came slowly near her and whispered - " Play it slowly. There's nothing to worry about. Mirella has won her match, 2-0. It's not the end."
This news gave her a lot of hope. Her state of mind was changed. She seemed to be back in her senses. This is where the game started becoming intense. For a long time, the game was comparatively peaceful. Alya was now playing really well. But Styliani's determination to win the match was too good to give Alya the chance to win a game. Styliani won three back to back sets which just made things better for her. Time, mercifully makes things difficult for everyone and it did for Styliani as well. But at the end, Styliani won the third set of the match. Although, Brookstation had won the match against Sharktail , things were not over for Styliani. She had to play the doubles match as well alongside her partner, Mirella. Needless to say, the doubles match was a disaster. The Sharktail players were good enough to give the girls an extreme fight where they didn't manage to seal victory for her team. This result was quite disappointing for the girls.

Styliani in her press conference stated - " I won't be playing the next doubles match. Things become really complicated for me and Mirella. Playing another match after playing singles is too stressful for us and thus I believe it was a factor that made us lose this time. Konstadinos and Alexios will start for the next doubles and I think we should leave the doubles to them. We will continue to focus on our singles and let's hope that Konstadinos and Alexios is able to do well."

Konstadinos and Alexios will play the doubles against Lisander. The boys had reached the semi finals in the men's doubles in this very nation and everyone just hopes they get back their form and win one for the nation.

ITT - Day 2
Bad day for Lisanderians in ITT: We're out of the knockouts
Laura Lins, from Somer, Electrum

Hard day for Lisanderian Tennis. The second matchday of the International Tennis Trophy, this morning, had the lisanderian players being defeated in all three matches of the tie against Brookstation. In the end, the lisanderian team was pushed down to the last place of the group, because of a win by Syamim Kevin (from Sharktail) against Dewa Putra in the late day matches. Now Lisander has only one match win in two ties, while Sharktail has a pair of them.

Flora Benaglio, ranked 267th in NSTT Rankings, was no match for Mirella Xanthou, ranked 113th, who had no difficulties defeating the lisanderian player. 6-0 and 6-2. Benaglio still tried a reaction, and in a moment on the second set, the scoreboard even could be seen favourable for her, with 1-2. But then Xanthou proved better and won the remaining five games in a row.

183th in the World, Scott Durin faced Styliani Kelesdou, ninety positions above, and also found a major defeat, a double 6-1.

In the doubles match, the Korf-Bressen Siblings even tried, but Papadimitriou and Lakovakis proved too strong. A solid 6-2 in the first set, but a hard-fought second set was enough to prove the valour of the offspring of Alice Bressen. They lost 6-4 but did not sell it cheap.

Valens departing to Ceni, to Diamond Trophy
Lisander waves goodbye to the competition tomorrow, against Sharktail, expecting at least a tie win. Florian Durigan, the best-ranked player of the nation, return to the court tomorrow, while Saber de Granat makes his first and only participation in the event, same as Gareth Teiss and Athos Smiecikoski. Anne Valens was expected to play against Sharktail, however, she was already confirmed by ALTA in the NSTT's Diamond Trophy, later this year.

Playing at MD3:
Florian Durigan
Saber de Granat
Filipe Korf/Stella Bressen

The Principality of Lisander, a sports loving, very highly developed nation in Astyria.
Disappointing people and missing deadlines since 2013.

DEUCE: We're In Now, Right?

Postby TJUN-ia » Sat Dec 04, 2021 10:44 am

After a comfortable 3-0 sweep against debutants Dispertag kicked off our ITT campiagn, TJUN-ia did more than enough to do the job done with the players some considered "developmental" (except Baloui of course). But up next would be a big tie, the opening tie of the day on Centre Court, and that status would be for a good reason: it was Britonisea. You don't need us to tell you how good Britonisea is as a tennis nation, before and after "The Long Break" at that, so everyone expected them to take this matchup up very serious. So, we did as well - with our finest taking them on head-on in a clash many expected to go the full distance, what ever that meant overall.

Match 1 was very interesting as Jean van de Kloor took on a familiar name in the form of Jason Gordon. Heck, Gordon was #1 when De Kloor of Toropo faced him in the Quarters in his first-ever tournament nearly two years ago now. With that sort of history, many expect this one to be a closely-fought affair - but De Kloor had other ideas. He wanted to prove a point that he can be good on his day and so, he pushed forwards without remorse and won the first set 6-1. Gordon certainly tried to fight back in the second set, but De Kloor was too hot to handle and when things ended at 6-3, that produced a shock. A straight-sets victory for Jean van de Kloor and a 1-0 lead for TJUN-ia.

Then came a matchup that a lot of people were looking forward to from the start: Valentina Spetsova vs Ricardo Toli, two players who love both singles and doubles play and can certainly be a nightmare on their day. Scarlett was the higher seed heading into this matchup and was the favourite just about, but Toli was someone people knew would be a tough nut to crack and thus, this one was going to be a duel. The first set was a tight affair but a key break of serve by Scarlett allowed her to take it 6-4. Set 2 was THE fightback set by Toli as he took the bull by the horns and took it 6-3 to send this to a deciding set. This deciding set was very tight to start and we ended up at 5-5 with no real advantage to be had...until Toli just created one from thin air and won the decider 7-5. The players shook hands afterwards and this tie would be decided with the doubles.

Toli was now paired up with Elizabeth Quehall to take on our #1 pairing in Shinji Makauchi and Felipe de la Rosa. Samurai Shinji and El Matador have been the #1 in TJUN-ia for quite a while now, but many still feel they are in the shadow of Scarlett and The Cowboy despite that. So they need something to prove to everyone that they can ball out on their day. It didn't get off to the best of starts at all as the Brityunik paring tore the first set apart 6-2 to make it very clear that Britonisea were aiming for the tie win. But our guys, great friends off the court, fought back hard and while things were certainly tough and Toli and Quehall weren't going to give things out easily, they did enough to win the final 2 sets 6-4 each and claim the dub for TJUN-ia 2-1 in the end.

At 2-0, we should be OK in terms of making it into the next round, but we still have to make sure about that fact come what may. Gergary is our final group stage opponent and facing them will be the "mid-tier" guys in Joe Katsi, Philippe Baloui and the team of Valentina Spetsova and Austin McDanielson. Every match will matter here as we need to make sure we're, without a shadow of a doubt, in.
