Mid-Season Test & Test Driver Showcase

Fjellutfordring, located in the remote yet populous city of Avsidesliggendevuoret (home to former WGPC driver and WSRC Champion Axel Novikov), received a redesign for its entry bid into the 19th season of the WGPC, aimed at improving the flow of the circuit and encouraging closer racing. The previously V-shaped complex of turns four through seven has been replaced with a flat-out stretch onto the hillsides of the Lesser Brukkifordet Massif, making for a faster—and slightly more treacherous—racetrack. The simple, 11-turn circuit lies nestled in the undulating rocky landscape of the central Abovian city, carved into the bedrock with little space to spare. Despite its relative simplicity, the design of the runoff areas of the circuit, its short length, and the slight elevation changes make for a thrilling ride.

In WGPC18, the event saw the WGPO debut of the sprint + feature race format, with Terho Talvela taking a sensational pole but finishing the feature race second to teammate iBen Toralmintii, ahead of first-time podium sitter and Motorworks driver Dario Nülkeschlager. Ryker Lane was the victor of the subsequent sprint race by a comfortable margin, trumping Erica Okumura of Polaris Racing and embattled Motorworks driver Kinu Luminna on their own podium debut.

The circuit widens as the start/finish straight leads into turn one, a prime overtaking spot with a safe tarmac runoff area to prevent first lap pileups. Drivers must get a good exit for the quick turn two, and be weary of the wall outside of turn three before launching off towards turn four over a wide stretch of undulating bumpy tarmac. Here, the track diverges from its previous layout, as the circuit narrows through the straight dash to turn five and becomes bumpy through to turn six. Drivers must be weary of their braking into the tricky yet wide turn seven chicane, and should prioritize their exit as the track climbs over the crests of the western Abovian landscape across the circuit towards the sweeping, off-camber turn eight. Turn nine slows the drivers down as the tarmac descends throughout the corner to the low-point of turn ten, before climbing once more towards the finish line.

If you would like to RP that your driver skipped this test event just ping me and i will remove them from the standings list

Three 45 minute sessions were completed and teams had the option of utilizing their race or test drivers in the test sessions. The fastest lap across the three sessions is shown for each driver. Some drivers may have made flying lap attempts to simulate qualifying, some may have the advantage of a draft and others may be focusing on race condition practice alone.

Mid-Season Test and Test Driver Showcase
Fjellutfordring
Avsidesliggendevuoret, Aboveland

His second week in Aboveland was a perfect time to be within his own thoughts. For Lane Carter, his first half of the season had certainly been very interesting, complete with points and no points, a famous win and a famous "fall". A simple test was all that he asked for, a chance to focus his mind before he got back to business in Nekoni.

The test itself was 3 45-minute sessions and that was certainly plenty of time for data and all that. All the test drivers were also in action here too, so that meant 31 drivers in total were collecting data for their respective teams. The final standings were based on the best times from all the drivers from all 3 sessions (i.e. only your best time counted) and were as follows. iBen Toralmintii set the fastest time with a 1:10.822, just ahead of Janne Laukkanen and Rudy Edwards. Lane ended up in 20th with a 1:12.017 with teammate Krupin in 24th and Daryl Mizushima in the Motorworks in 15th. The best test driver of the session was Skiia Vialiv in 16th.

Then Mizu came over to Race Eelandii to take part in the test driver showcase. It was nice to have him back again and Lane knew he had to cheer him on no matter what. Mizu managed 4th in qualifying behind only the Top 3 of Janne Laukkanen, Darian Vilau and Sam Blaatschapen - all names from WGP2 and all good at what they do. The 36-lap race that resulted from it was very fun to watch but in the end, Mizu only managed to make it home in 6th. Laukkanen won over Ted Pressley and Vialiv, both of Mizu's Motorworks teammates down in the bottom 2.

The Autodromo Internazionale de Rivoli is up next and with that, it was time to say goodbye. Lane hugged his friend and despite the little conversation they did, he was at least happy to finally see him. He didn't talk to him about his win, or about last week or about anything in the email...Mizu was busy and that was fine. He simple just let him do his business and walk away.

But once his friend had gone and he'd gone back to his hotel room, Lane let all of his emotion out with tears and more tears. The 3 Dreams had been taunting him all day and now, with him gone again, it was time to face them once more. He didn't consider himself to be...not straight. Not at all. But that didn't stop these dreams, didn't it? That didn't stop any of these feelings at all. His whole life had been a lie...and now, he didn't know what to do.

No, wait...he did. Krupin wanted a drink, to celebrate Lane's win. He wanted to talk about the dreams, too. He would request a meeting with his teammate at a bar, a bar he knew all too well...The Lost Anchor back in Portside, TJUN-ia. He'd pay for travel and everything. He just needed to tell him...tell him everything...he'd bring that journal, too...Lane Carter needed answers. He needed advice. He needed Gregori Krupin.

Fjellutfordring
WGPC Mid-season test

''Remember, this is an official WGPC mid-season test event, combined with sort of a non-championship race. While Darian will be driving one of the cars during the event, for you, David, it's an opportunity to get your first look into how a top tier team operates behind the scenes. Your job, before anything, is to be present in the garage and pay close attention to what the team does both during practices, as well as qualification and race. When we get to Kaylan garage, we will first meet Mr. Xander Mahakipare. He's the team principal of Kaylan in WGPC, and has been looking forward to meeting you,'' Niko Ausage explained as he walked down the paddock with David Findlay and Darian Vilau. While Darian was the designated test driver for Kaylan in WGPC and was the one to drive the T180 during the event, their other academy driver David had also been invited to Fjellutfordring to tag along. With the Grearish driver being relatively green when it came to WGP racing, Niko believed that spending time in the team garage and looking how the team operates would be a valuable experience for the young Findlay.

Mechanics were already working on the cars and Kaylan garage was filled with chatter when the trio walked in. Having taken a look around, Niko quickly spotted Xander's large figure standing in a corner. With a hand signal indicating David and Darian to follow him, Niko made his way to Xander and nod at him as a greeting. ''Hello Xander. Hard at work already, I see?''

With a smirk on his face, Xander shook Niko's hand. ''Just trying to do what we can to climb out of the ditch we're in,'' he said before turning his attention to Darian. ''So, Darian, ready to give the T180 another go today?''

''You bet I am,'' Darian said as he crossed his arms, ''I've been waiting to get a proper chance with a WGPC machine.''

Xander nod, ''Well, today is the day. Listen, why don't you go and find Vladimir? He should be at the other end of the garage with Anola right now. He will give you a quick overview about some of the technical aspects for today, alright?'' Having sent Darian off to prepare for the event, Xander turned his attention to David instead. ''And you must be the young Findlay, right?'' Having said that, Xander reached out his arm and, with a friendly smile on his face, shook hands with David. ''I've heard a lot about you. I hope you will it interesting today.''

Having spent some more time talking with both David and Niko, Xander eventually looked around and waved at Rai, indicating him to come to him. ''Yes?'' Rai said as he approached Xander.

''Rai, why don't you take Mr. Findlay here with you and show him around the garage? You know, give a quick overview about the car, show him in which corner the coffee machine is and all that.''

Rai smirked. ''Sure. Come, i'll show you around,'' he said and took David with him. With Darian listening to instructions from Vladimir and Anola, David getting a look at Ted Pressley's car and the Tumbran himself talking to mechanics, the clock was slowly heading towards the start of first practice session. With half an hour left, Xander eventually raised his voice and asked everyone in the garage to gather around him.

''Alright, listen up! This test is of vital importance for us. The good news is, our engineering department has finally provided us with the upgrade we've been talking about. Today, before anything, we need to do some testing in order to see if the work they've done has paid off. Once we're done with practice, we will head to the showcase quali and race part. While this is by no means a championship-calibre event, I still want to see a hundred and ten percent effort from all of you!'' Xander looked at his team members and saw most of them quietly nodding while looking at him. ''Now, as we spoke earlier. Car number 88 will be driven by Ted throughout all the sessions. Meanwhile, car number 83 will be driven by Anola for the first two practice sessions. Following the second session, Darian will be taking over Anola's car and run it through the third practice, as well as quali and race. Remember, we need to get as much data as we need, and nothing can give us better data than an actual race against other cars. Any questions?''

With no questions asked, everyone started preparing for the event. ''Here, put these on. You can listen to the team's radio comms through these if you want. Just don't go on air yourself, alright?'' Xander said as he gave a pair of headphones to David, before moving on to take his spot behind the monitors. Soon, the session started and drivers took the T180's out on track. During the practice sessions, the garage was constantly busy with trying to acquire as much data as possible. And with Kaylan struggling, they needed a lot of it. Eventually, though, the final practice session was over and both cars rolled back into garage.

Fjellutfordring
Test Driver Showcase Race

Qualifying had set Darian to start the race from the front row. The feat had seen positive reception from the garage, with Darian howling through team radio. With formation lap done, Darian was now sitting in his car, waiting for the lights to go off. ''Laukkanen alongside you, Vialiv and Blaatschapen behind. Pay attention at the first corner and good luck!'' he heard Vladimir say via radio. Darian had his foot set on throttle, he was ready.

Light off, Darian quickly floored it and pulled alongside Janne. However, the Abovian managed to get a better entry into the corner, leaving Darian to stare at the rear wing of Nexus. However, despite Vialiv and Blaatschapen close up his tail, Darian managed to retain his spot during the opening laps. ''Great start Darian, carry on!'' Vlad passed some words of encouragement to the young Togonistani. Slowly but steadily, though, Janne managed to start building a gap with Darian, as well as Vialiv started appearing closer and closer in his mirrors. During lap 7, Darian took the car through corner 6 and into 7th, when suddenly, the T180 started sliding. Desperately attempting to retain control of the car, Darian started rapidly turning the steering wheel, causing him to spin and go off the track.

''Sh*t! Sh*t! Sh*t!'' Darian cursed over radio, ''did Skiia make contact with me?''

''No Darian, no contact, just oversteer. It's okay, re-join the track when it's safe.''

''For f*cksakes!'' Darian sighed and re-joined the track, finding himself suddenly racing the two motorworks cars in the bottom. With a series of overtakes in the following laps, he managed to start climbing up the pack again, overtaking both Lacsamana and Toggard to eventually finish the race in 8th out of 12.

''Okay, that's the end of the session. End of session. Scenario 1.''

Darian shook his head. That was supposed to be his moment to prove himself. His moment to show everyone he has what it takes to handle WGPC machinery, as well as race in one. However, his stupid mistake had cost him that opportunity. Darian was unhappy with himself and he knew he could do better than that. Sure, after the race, he was shaking hands with everyone as well as congratulated Ted for his P2, but deep inside, he felt disappointment. One could only get so many chances to prove themselves WGPC-worthy, especially when it came to the likes of Darian who didn't have the support of a wealthy sponsor and had to rely on Kaylan academy, hoping that his talent would be enough for them to consider him for a WGPC race seat one day.

Perhaps they had been spoiled in the WGP2 Ranks.

Anola had had Ted helping with the majority of the points, Sprint races to help make up for her own points, and a huge lead at the start of the season that Kaylan would not relinquish. Sure, they had not won the individual title, but the championship had been won rather easily.

Now, in the WGPC ranks, they were struggling. Kaylan was down in the depths in terms of the construction standings, and she had only finished in the top ten once. What was going wrong?

Vladimir and she couldn't really find anything specific to poke at. They were doing everything that they had done in terms of routine - it honestly was just that the level of competition was different. All the established names were so much better off the blocks, planning their stops, and getting across the finish line.

The first initial races had been disappointing. After that, they had decided to keep a record of areas that they could improve in, with details on what they had improved on race upon race. There wasn't much, but they were starving for any kind of good news.

They did have a tangible goal - to do better in the latter half of the race season. To get to the top ten at least twice. To put the name of Kaylan back on the map before it got too late. To not make a fool of themselves or the Kaylan name.

It would be a small step, but a tangible one going forward.

And right now, every single step mattered.

Eisborg Gran Premio di Nekoni

For the last few seasons, Rivoli has been the racing centre of Nekoni, and specifically in this deviously tricky circuit in the hills and valleys of Rivoli. A smoothing out of some of the turns has increased the speed of the circuit from its original 1990 incarnation, but the danger is just as prevalent as it ever was. Built into a natural ridge, the circuit has kept largely the shape of the mountain road that formerly occupied it, and the reprofiling means over the 52 laps, the drivers have potential to drive even faster than the playboys of the 60s who lived fast and died young on it. From the beginning left-right chicane, drivers build their speed with the newly designated turn 3, and continue along a long, sweeping, ascending right over the blind apex of Turn 3, the entire section decked with Armco barriers on its right to prevent a long drop. The next turn, a tight-second gear right-hander, begins a dramatic descent. Turn 5, for an increased challenge, as been tightened for an actual turn 6 left hander to begin the heavy reduction in gradient. Skilful drivers can use this gradient to potentially go round it in full throttle, setting up for a difficult right hand sweeper, past the much-simplified kink into Turn 8, the most infamous point of the circuit. Named 'The Carousel', this hard left is banked slightly, allowing those who can get the angle precise can minimise their speed loss for the next stage of the lap. Of course, with the extra speed, care must be taken here. It's a much shorter gravel trap than one would expect, and failure to brake in time may lead into a hard and painful end to your day. Where we once continued along the valley's rocky wall into a mid-speed complex, we now continue into the Bowl, Turn 9 of the circuit: a 10-degree banked left-hander. This is a wide, fast piece of road, allowing a full-throttle ascent into Turn 10's slow right, which thanks to the greater speeds, is now a much more considerable overtaking opportunity, and a better spectator spot than ever before. The ascent begins in the final third of the lap, with the speed being gradually built through the simple lefts of 11 and 12, before the hill appears to crest at the double-apex turn 13, which makes the bend blind, and much more difficult than it appears. However, the next two turns continue the ascent up the hill, and, in a change to proceedings, the circuit continues westwards at Turn 16. The lap concludes with the final turn 18: following a simple right, the DRS detection zone marks the braking point for a tight left. Naturally, the better the turn is performed, the better in shape the driver is for the long 1200m blast uphill to complete the lap.

Lane wanted to talk. Gregori had decided at the start of the season that he would be there for his teammate whenever he needed him. It was just the way he was and a gesture of support. They were racing together for the WGPC19 season and as such would be in close quarters a lot of the time. The Race Eelandii race sheds were always close together in the typical fashion of race teams meaning he was next door to Lane while they worked with their cars and sat in their race lounges looking over the race results. Gregori had always wanted to cultivate a friendly supportive relationship with each of his teammates. It helped them function better as a team and generally made the whole thing far smoother than if you didn’t get along with your teammate.

A celebratory drink with Lane would be good. It would be the recognition that Lane deserved as a racer and it would allow him to blow off a bit of steam as well. The season wasn’t exactly going at all well for him after the debacle of a start. Things just weren’t going his way. No matter how much he’d trained before each race and no matter how carefully he studied the race and practice readouts. It seemed that he was headed for a low season. Not that he’d ever had a high season. Just a few good finishes here and there between the lower place result streaks. It seemed that his career was taking a rather slow crawl as opposed to the great leaps that Sara’s and iBen’s had taken. But such was the way of fate.

“Don’t stress Gregori.” he thought to himself as he headed for the bar “That’s how it all goes bad.”

Lane had picked an interesting place. He’d never gone to somewhere quite like The Lost Anchor. It was similar to the bars and clubs back home in Sorlovia yet somehow vastly different. Its name had quickly become a subject of great interest for him as he made his way through the doors to find Lane inside. A lost anchor was not generally a good thing. The concept was intensely familiar to him. After all, his family had worked on the sea for generations. At one point his grandfather had even lost his anchor and had to be towed back into port by the local Sea Guard patroller. His father Nikolai had learnt from his father’s experience and had always kept a spare anchor in the hold. Gregori had been the first not to take up fishing and ocean tours. It’d caused friction with his father but he’d had a far different dream in his heart. Though growing up in the small seaside town of Solnichniy had meant that the naming of the bar had resonated with him.

There would be no talk of the WGPC if they could help it. This outing was purely to celebrate Lane’s first win and to let off some steam. His teammate wanted to talk and he would be there for him. If he could help Lane in any way then he was honour bound to do it. He’d grown up with a cousin who had struggled with many things and he’d seen the toll it had taken on not just him but the rest of the family as well. Pyotr Krupin, Gregori’s cousin on his father’s side, just wasn’t quite like other people. He saw things differently and had often been described as an idealistic dreamer. But he had always gotten on well with Pyotr. Perhaps it was because Gregori had carefully cultivated gentleness and a regard for those kinds of people.

“It’s good to see you Lane,” he said with a smile “let me get you a round of beers my friend. It’s time we celebrated that win of yours! Man I remember my first win! It’s an amazing feeling.”

Tärheljäänttärii, Nörjänlappi, Auruna
"Holy shit, is it this remote?" Jöna asked as he gets out of their rented Vezrel. "I knew it was a good idea to come here early so that you won't miss the mid-season test. I didn't expect it to be this remote."

"Yeah, now that I think about it. It's a good thing that we came early. Anyway, welcome to Tärheljäänttärii, it's a small remote village that's covered in snow most of the time."

Jöna looks at the quiet snow-covered village, 72 kilometers away from the nearest city. He stands there silent as he began to wonder how Kinu got to where he is now. He is a bit reluctant to ask Kinu, not wanting to intrude upon his personal life knowing Kinu's attitude to topics like that. Jöna just sets it aside for now in hopes of Kinu being the one to open up by himself. The two leave their parked Vezrel and walk around the village. Houses are located far from each other and the village's "center" only consisted of a small market and a primary school which Jöna guessed Kinu studied at but a new question popped up. "How did you get to Veratuna?" He blurted out. Ah küj...

To Jöna's surprise, Kinu was comfortable enough to open up to him, not taking offense from what he asked. "Long story but let's find a place first." Kinu said as he gestures to Jöna to follow him.

As the two walked through the snowy path, Kinu starts his story.

From this small village, I had a long way to go. I knew my goal was to get to the capital but I didn't know what to do to even start. As I spent most of my time here, I started late with everything: school and such. I didn't even know what racing is. I only found out about it after staying with my cousins at Kuoppulo before moving to Nörjänlappi. I moved to different cities so I only stayed a year in each school I went to as I got closer to Veratuna. Once I arrived at the capital, fulfillment is what I didn't feel as I didn't know what to do

...Oh, looks like we have arrived.

It was a quick walk through half of the village, the two arrive at a small house nestled inside significant tree cover. Kinu approaches the front door first and knocks while yelling out "Yai Kinu, kaittea!" ("It's Kinu, I'm home!") in a distinct winter accent. They wait as the door unlocked and the one to welcome them was Kinu's grandmother. "Kinu, taivellanettakanaa!" ("Kinu, welcome back!") She ecstatically said upon the return of her grandchild, she would then invite both inside the house.

Kinu and Jöna sat down around the warm living room, settling down after walking around the cold. After Kinu explains to his grandmother that they won't be there for long as they are pretty busy, she just leaves them alone after offering some snacks and coffee. Kinu was the only one to accept. Looking around, Jöna pointed out something that stood out and asked Kinu out of curiosity. "Why do you guys have an anti-tank rifle here?"

Knowing the answer, Kinu just says. "Aikkuut." ("Bears.") With nothing following it.

"Okay then.. uh... please continue where we left off."

"Right."

I just didn't know what to do after arriving, it's a big city with plenty of things to do but what is it exactly that I want? After enrolling at another school, while walking back to my apartment, I heard the faint but distinct sounds of engines roaring so I followed it thinking that it was the "racing" that I saw before on TV a long time ago. And it was. After witnessing the speed and chaos, it was more lively than the serene north. It was finally something different. There's something that I want to do afterall.

Well, being relatively poor, I couldn't pursue it at first after finding out how to get into it by asking the locals. I only set it aside as it was ingrained into my mind, not wanting to disappear. At certain times, I couldn't stop thinking about it. So after a few days at my new school, I found out about the karting club there, I was surprised to learn about it so I decided to sign up and after paying a small fee with the help of my part-time job, I got my first taste of racing behind the wheel.

As usual, I sucked at it at first, behind some if not most of the members but giving up is not what I wanted to do after going so far from home. I have improved, not by a lot but there were small increments of improvement throughout my time in the club until I was one of the best there is. After dominating a few races, to my surprise, Viska approached me and recruited me into their Viska Junior Academy. I think you already know this. I did a few seasons of karting with them and I was eventually promoted to the Viska Junior Formula where I did compete against the likes of Haukanna, Aurinen, and Alto. There's no doubt that I was against great talents, especially after digging deeper into their racing histories. All of them were outstanding and I didn't want to fall behind so I just took the fight up against the best. My first VJF season says a lot: winning the championship in the final race by half a point from Laura Haukanna and Mika Aurinen after a recovery drive from dead last to fifth. There's a reason why Artur vouched for me to join Viska in AEC.

I had to do another two seasons in VJF and at least four races in AEC-J before I would get to join him in AEC. Heh, I did all that so that I would get to one of the top series here. I did everything I could to join the best, to compete against the best, while being praised as one of the best. Afterwards, you know the story, I think you should get Artur to tell you more about it -- winning the championship in my debut season with Artur and Kai, with Viska backing us up. It was a perfect combination if I'd say so myself. I think I was fated to return to Viska in WGPC, I know it won't be long but I'll make the most of it here.

Come to think of it, I still know what I want to do. There's a chance somewhere in the future. It won't be a quick one like I did, speedrunning the ranks until my crash came to remind me. But there's still something for me to reach.

That is all for now as there's more to come.

Silence followed after Kinu ends his tale, as Jöna takes in all of the information. Most of the questions are finally answered and Jöna could finally not worry about Kinu that much. He now knew more about him. There's more to come eh? Taking his final sip of his coffee, he would then tell Kinu. "So there's still more, right? Why not do what you do best with us and let's take the fight on track, among the very best there is." He gives a brief pause as he straightens his posture while relaxed on the chair. "You know what we say in Viska, right? Täitä... täitä etteremät."

"Mennä täitä, täitä etteremät."

"Heh, that's it. Now, let's leave. Say your farewell to your grandmother then we'll return to Sterlennau. We'll arrive at around midnight so that means we still have time to prepare. Got it?"

"Yeah."

The Valentians – Chapter 9 – __init__ (training).

With the qualifications done and not being too well, I practiced round after round in the simulation for Lintulahti-Toralmintii International Circuit. Not too bad, but I have to get it. I have to be there. I need to get some points, and to get away from the Null-Pointers Anonymous, if that is such a thing! Thought after thought raced onto me, and I feared for the worst. What if I didn't get anything for the Eminent at all? Then I remembered - I have been chimed by a staff that someone is looking for me, and they are really big. Wow, that was fast! They really do want to help me, and I am very grateful for that. I mean, I never doubted them in the first place, but I thought it would still take them a little while. Anyway, Clarissa and Valentijn arrived at the lounge, both of them now having the same hairstyle as each other. I also gave a sisterly hug to Clarissa, and before we know it, we are down to business!

"The difference between NSSCRA and WGPC is still a little bit of a problem," Clarissa started off, sitting down on the reception chair and then walking with me to my room with Valentijn behind us, "But I am thinking if you can do some form of training that I always used to do. Well, not all the time."

"Oooh, what are you suggesting, sis?" I asked in curiosity, "I am guessing that it must have been the same training that I did, but a different course, different car, and a few other conditions. Should be the same program, right?"

Clarissa chuckled lightheartedly a little bit. I quite like that, I think she's a very adorable big sister. "Well," Clarissa replied back to me with a smile, "It will be a surprise. I will tell you what to do, then I will jump into your circuitry and watch your driving." It sounded simple enough - I will be the one driving, and she will watch me over. And since her and I more or less speak the same sets of languages (both human and machine), we will be able to communicate with one another much better than anyone else could. No offense to Jenny, of course! She has played a very large part in making sure that I am doing my best in the fields. I am very, very glad for that! But you know what they say, right? You can touch a man's heart if you speak his language. That applies to robots too! Just whisper SQL into my ears, and I will be your bestie! Oh, but don't try to play dirty with me, hehe - I am protected against SQL injections!

Anyway, back to the simulation. Both of us are sharing the same program at that moment, and Clarissa was put inside as a spectator at first. She then asked if she could become the admin/host of the race session I am doing. Maybe she wanted a lot more data on the hand, along with some metrices that she can use for me. That would be amazing! "Okay, that's good!" she said, her voice booming throughout the simulated course and the virtual world with me being alone and racing. I didn't mind being alone, and I certainly did not mind my big sis watching me! I know there was a thing with people where they have a feeling of dread in places that were supposed to have people, but were alone. Kenopsia, or something to that effect. Ahh, it does not matter as much. I am here to practice, and with my big sister guiding me along the way.

> Initiate Race.
> Simulate 100 laps.
> Normal conditions.

It started off pretty normally and well. I was in my virtual car, controlling and driving almost as if I was there. The usual thing, you know? Turn 1, 2, 3, 4 - all good! Turns 9-12 were the problematic ones because of how hairpin-turn-like it was; it wasn't as sharp as an actual hairpin, but it was still pretty bad enough for me to focus on, and from what I have seen, the others seemed to have struggled on this part. I have heard a few of the public radio comms, it was quite a turn. So okay, why not! If they can do it, I can do it too! Clarissa is doing her best and helping me out - calling the shots, telling me when and how to turn, and the like. She has read and learned about WGPC already, as I have noticed. Must be all the sheer processing power that she has gotten. Though of course, at the end of the day, she did tell me to "Rely on your instincts a little bit more, and maybe ask what your car needs, all right? Then you will be able to do this!"

All of this sounded simple enough. Then it happened.

> Simulate 200 laps.
> Add Environmental Hazards.
> Warp Track by +/- 20 degrees on XYZ.

"Excuse me?!", I thought to myself. Clarissa warped and modified the track to quite a degree. The clouds get darker, the winds were howling on the virtual track and before I knew it, it started raining heavily and hard. "You have to brave through the elements!" Clarissa spoke out, echoing throughout the world, "Don't let a thunderstorm and the heavy winds get the best of you!" I could also hear her chuckling a little, but it was more of a child-like and innocent amusement, and to be honest, I was all right with that. Besides, I wasn't really in danger in this virtual world, and I could kinda see what she was trying to do. Although, warping the track has been certainly difficult for me. Banking, turning, and all the mechanical bits got a bit more difficult. The track - at a few points, got a little too pointy or depressed that my car might gotten stuck had I not stop or avoid them in time. After 10-13 laps of the track changing constantly like some fever dream that humans get, I got used to it.

> Simulate 200 laps.
> Add Crazy Environmental Hazards.
> 6.5 Earthquake initiated.
> Add lava to some parts of the roads.

CO DO CHOLERY?! The earth beneath me and the car shook violently, and I swear I had to avoid A LARGE section of the track that suddenly liquefied and turned into some form of... lava? What in goodness gracious was my sister doing? "Come on, you can do it!" she was still speaking sheepishly, cheerfully, and happily. O mój Boże, I thought. Was she enjoying this process? Was this the reason why she wanted the administrative privileges to this session? I had so many thoughts in my mind, and then I had to yell out of confusion. It wasn't really so much of anger, but more of clarity: Clariss- SIS! Why am I doing this? Wait, why are you challenging me in such a way?!

"To make you get used to the challenges! You have to expect the worst!"

"Yeah, but I am sure this track-" I interrupted myself in order to swerve and avoid crashing in on Turn 11 - which the track has elevated into a spiky gravel mess in the middle sections of the road. I had to hug the inside of the track in order to get a safe turn. This wasn't good, I thought. And more importantly - is this even going to be relevant? Composing myself, I replied back to Clarissa, "Sis, I appreciate this and I am sure it might be good practice, but don't you think it's a bit too far?"

"Nah! I do this almost all the time when I am racing and preparing for NSSCRA! I simulated all of these impossible scenarios, then your actual race will be so much better!"

Fair point, I thought. Still, I thought it would have been appreciated it if this was toned down a little.

> Simulated Pit Stop.
> Stop all Environmental Hazards. Revert Track.

Whew, I thought to myself. Finally, some rest, and maybe it was over. 200 laps of driving like a protagonist in an apocalypse movie. The track just now was unrecognizable from what I was supposed to practice, but you know what - it did help me to use both my computers and my instincts! I think it's working!

"And now, the ultimate challenge!" Oh no, I thought. What is she going to do? A larger earthquake? The track cracking along its path? Co?!

> Add AI drivers.
> INSERT INTO AI_drivers VALUES (Anneliese Devereux, Anola "Wrench" Melani, Cocoabo #23, Dario Nülkeschläger, Daryl Mizushima, Dom Falepeau, Gregori Krupin, Heinz-Otto Junker, iBen Toralmintii, Janne Laukkanen, Jean Mercer-Daly, Joy Wingelaar, Kinu Luminna, Lane Carter, Laura Haukanna, Olivia Stone, R.L. Cruisin, Rudy Edwards, Rustom Ibuna, Ryker Lane, Sara Luna, Ted Pressley, William Archer);

"Oh, thank goodness," I thought to myself. At first, the track was back to normal, and I have the pleasure of having all the other drivers simulated into this practice, based on how they drive in real life. This might be the perfect thing for me to work on - to have actual drivers and actual course to race around on after all the mess that was my big sis' crazy scenarios and track layouts.

> UPDATE AI_drivers SET Reliability = 8.0;
> UPDATE AI_drivers SET Aggression = 13.0;
> UPDATE AI_drivers SET Technical = 8.0;

Then I realised that this was not going to be normal simulated drivers. For one, ALL of them are extremely aggressive and are driving way beyond than what was physically possible. They whizzed by me, they shunted my bumpers and near-missed me with every single opportunity, and they have a whole lot of tactics on their hands. Maybe it was due to the purposely botched-up aggression or other variables that Clarissa has set up, so here's how they work. Although, before I start, I have to preface that the simulated drivers were not being dirty.

With that out of the way, they have been very aggressive with how they drive and go against one another. 5 to 6 of them would box me in and would do everything in their power to slow me down and prevent me from overtaking them, whilst the others would do some of the most impressive and close-call turns I have ever seen in my lifetime in WGPC. To be honest, if this was on an actual track, they might have flopped and hit a wall, but for here, the physics - even when fully and meticulously simulated, can be a bit different. That, and I'm sure Clarissa added something else to ensure that they are not hit. It was unfair. And it was actually what I needed, I realised.

-----

After a very, very lengthy practice session that took many of my CPU-time and cycles, I was ready for the race the very next day - although I had to dump my RAM and filter out the more useful results because as much as Clarissa has helped me a lot, my mind was too cloudy and confused to use ALL of the variables. So I used whatever I thought is necessary for the race, and then away we went.

For one, my big sis definitely knew what she was doing. I mean sure, the crazy environmental effects didn't happen, not even a bit of a rain. But I have learned to drive well and better under pressure by a large extent, on top of making sure to keep the other drivers at bay. I don't want to treat them like an enemy, but at the end of the day - they have as much of a stake in this season as I do, and they don't want to disappoint their own teams as well.

I went round and round and round, avoiding crashes, slowdowns, and every other hazard that my mind has been conditioned to. I also have adapted to the extremely aggressive drivers in the simulation so much so that... well, no offense to them, but I think I am starting to get a hang of how these people drive; I can play around that without causing any danger between us. Being a bit more aggressive is still okay so long as I was not actively turning this race track into a demolition derby, and in the end, what did I get?

Third. Podium finish. My first ever point-scoring finish, and it was a podium finish. Anneliese was right in front of me, on top of Rudy Edwards who stole the limelight. For me, however, I was simply more than happy and elated that I was there. 15 points, all in one big swoop.

And it was all thanks to my big sister Clarissa. :3 I am confident for the next one as well, and it would be starting with the qualifications right after this upcoming testing session is over. You know what they say - more practice, more break, all-around better.

Another week, another race ruined by a slow pit stop. So much for making the most out of the weekend, William Archer thought to himself as he was once again forced to sit still and wait while his pit crew removed, or more accurately tried to remove the front left wheel of his PGP-02 once again. He could almost see the points slipping from his grasp as the mental clock ticked way beyond three seconds, and it went all the way to 9.7 seconds in William's mind before he was finally released back into the race. "Let me guess, it was cross-threaded again?" he asked his engineer.

"It looks like it is indeed cross-threading once again, William," the engineer replied.

William sighed inside his helmet. "Kapag sinuswerte ka nga naman talaga," he muttered.

William had hoped that this weekend in Lintulahti would help him exorcise the demons that had surfaced within him once again after he threw away what was supposed to have been a good haul of points for him in Eelandii. These were demons that he had not confronted since that rainy day in Crossbay all those years ago, that moment when he was standing on the crossroads of his life. His victory at the Nimban Deuxieme Prix in the third season of WGP2 had done well in silencing his inner critic, but after first the botched pit stop and then the puncture in Eelandii, the doubter in him reappeared without warning. Are you really good enough for WGPC, William?, asked the doubter. You were never supposed to be here in the first place. In fact, you weren't even supposed to be driving in WGP2 at all. What kind of a stupid person forgets to check if their emails were actually sent or not? And you only got lucky in Crossbay because of the rain, William! Without that rain, you would be out of the points and out of open wheelers as well! Now your bad luck, your real luck is finally catching up to you! How else can you explain the broken DRS, the slow pit stops, the puncture that wasn't, and all those times you could have won but didn't? Face it, William, you don't deserve that seat. You never have, and you never will.

Shut your mouth! William told the doubter. You clearly have no idea what you're talking about. All you see are the problems and the failures. I choose to see the things that went right for me. I almost won a wet race in a car with a faulty DRS. I've had two podiums so far this season, and for a time, I was actually challenging for the drivers' title! What can you say about that?

Come on now, William! the doubter retorted. Do you really seriously believe that Preston will let you be the one to fight for the drivers' championship for them? You really must be stupid! Stupider than even I could have imagined! Time to wake up from your fantasy, William! You and I both know that Preston are going to do everything in their power to make sure that it's their golden boy Edwards who wins the title before anyone else! Remember, Edwards is Hapiloppian, and you're just a dirty little Fleftic driver. To them, you're just the son of an obnoxious and loudmouthed stock car driver! They're only keeping you around because you're the guy that saved their team, and because of that, you're great PR! Think, William, think! Since when did you become plagued with problems in your car? Ever since people noticed you were the only driver in this team who was scoring points, right? And what happened when people noticed that? Preston brought in Drake motherfucking Stevenson. You saw Stevenson talking with Edwards, but he never talked to you about anything, did he? You know what Stevenson and Edwards were talking about that you apparently didn't have the need to know? They're sabotaging you, baby. They're sabotaging your race, they're sabotaging your car, they're sabotaging you until you're no longer on top of their golden boy! Which, judging by how he's been doing these past few races, is bound to happen anytime soon!

Shut the fuck up! William shouted back at his inner doubter. Even if what you're saying is true, and I'm already telling you that I don't believe it, what evidence do you have? A cross-threaded wheel? A tire with a very small puncture? Preston are fighting for the constructors' championship just as much as they are for the drivers' title! Not only do you not have any evidence for this, you don't have any motive for them to do it!

The proof is in the pudding, pudding, his inner doubter sneered. We both know that I'm right, and that you're just being blinded by your loyalty. Ironic, since if you manage to get past your own loyalty to Preston, you'll only see that their only loyalty is to Rudy Edwards and no one else! I know this, and you know this, and I know you know this. You're just too stupid to realize that you're in denial. But one of these days, you're gonna have to wake up and smell the roses, kiddo. And I would very much love to see the look on your face when you finally do!

For a conversation that took place entirely in his own head, it was packed full of emotion, loathing, and self-hatred. It was also the first time that William realized that he had always had these thoughts before, but for various reasons, he had decided to bury them all in the deepest recesses of his mind. No wonder he did that. He didn't need those kinds of thoughts distracting him while he was driving a one thousand-kilogram speed machine at more than 300 kilometers per hour around some of the most challenging and tricky circuits in the multiverse.

After that exhausting and honestly terrifying journey through his own psyche, William hoped that Lintulahti would allow him to bury the doubter inside him once again. And for once, the track was actually cooperating with him. He was second best in practice, behind the man who shared his name with the circuit itself, iBen Toralmintii. Not even the light showers later on in the afternoon could dampen William's spirits as he took himself and his PGP-02 into P6, while Rudy Edwards was no slouch himself and managed to bring himself to P10 and set up both Prestons in good position for the sprint race the next day. Both William and Rudy did well, with Rudy climbing five places up to P5 at the end of the race, and William barely just missed out on a podium. And while the top 10 were to be reversed to set the grid for the actual grand prix on Sunday, both Preston cars were still in good position to benefit from it.

William was actually happy for Rudy, believe it or not. After an early part of the season where he had truly struggled with taking the PGP-02 into the points, perhaps a race win really was the thing needed to boost Rudy and turn him once again into a title challenger. But once again the doubter whispered into William's ear and said, I told you he was their golden boy, didn't I? You could have been on that podium with Rudy. You should have been on that podium with Rudy. But look where you are now. You haven't gained that many points since you were second place in the standings, and now the Golden Boy is catching up to you! Still need more proof that they're never going to let you race?

The doubter's cackling laughter filled William's ears and made them ring all the way back to his mobile home.

William wasn't sure if he wanted to stick around for the mid-season test. In the back of his mind, he wondered if this was going to be the same as last season, when after struggling through the first half of the 18th season of WGPC, William had emerged as the winner of both midseason test races. There were no points awarded for both of those races, so while William had managed to stand on the top step of the podium in WGPC twice already, that didn't put 50 points beside his name. It did however prove to the higher-ups in Preston that their investment in grand prix racing was indeed worthwhile, that they did have a package capable of winning races, and when Rudy won the next points-paying race after the midseason tests, it was the thing that convinced them to not pull the plug on the entire project. But then William found out that this midseason test was not going to be similar to last season. The regular drivers would have a few sessions on the track to run whatever programs they or their team chose, and then it would be time for the test drivers to get out on track and show what they had. That, and the fact that the midseason test was going to be held at the Fjellutfordring (a track in which William didn't have many fond memories), finally convinced William that he wouldn't stick around for the whole test. He was going to drive his car around in those three sessions alloted to the main drivers, and then he was going to head straight back home to Effelenendro.

It was obvious from the programs that William was ordered to run that he was not going to find himself anywhere near the top of the standings for the practice sessions. He was ordered to put on hard tires and run laps around the track with a full load of fuel and a "malfunctioning" battery. They told him that they wanted to see what would happen if a car lost its battery right at the start of a race. William thought it was a strange test in and of itself but shrugged it off and proceeded to do it anyway. And, to no one's surprise, William's best time was only good enough for second-last, and in a field with test drivers as well. This, combined with Rudy Edwards posting the third fastest lap time in practice, allowed the doubter to raise his voice once again. Look at that, William, he said. They're reminding you of your proper place!

"Shut up!" William exclaimed, but the strange looks that he got from some people made him realize that he had said those last words out loud. William quickly ducked back into the privacy of his mobile home to pack up his things, and then he popped back into the garages to say a quick goodbye to the team and the crew before embarking on the long journey back to Abanhfleft.

There was an old friend that he wanted… no, needed to see again.

Eminent in the Mid-Pack: Chance to Take a Step Up

Fireline + Bitten Heroes merged for the WGPC 19 season for different reasons. Fireline Motorsports had a middling to mediocre season, and with limited funding available, felt the need to partner up for the next season to remain viable and competitive in WGPC. For Bitten Heroes, part of the reason for the merger was that the expiration of licences and the need for more funding. Ultimately though, both teams had decided to create a merger for WGPC 19 for one primary reason: to become more competitive in WGPC.

Has it worked? The performance so far has been better than some of Fireline Motorsport's past seasons. Previously Fireline would find their team towards the rear of the grid; not quite last but certainly fighting around there. The team have stepped up a little in WGP2, but this is yet to transfer over to WGPC really, with credible results waiting. So sitting in the middle of the pack at just over half-way through the season is an improvement for Fireline. But is it enough to justify the merger continuing?

That won't be decided until towards the end of the season. Fireline and Bitten Heroes will be waiting to see if there is an uptick in performance in the latter half of WGPC 19, hoping to see Adriana Kowalski and Anneliese Devereux pick up some more points, and potentially wins. With a refresh amongst the Fireline attitude and new funding coming in for the second half of the season, it's likely we'll be seeing the Ethanian outfit bring some new upgrades for the car and engine to keep the team ticking along nicely.

This weekend though is a test in itself. It's a chance to step up and a chance to justify the merger to the world. The Eminent drivers find themselves in a really positive position after qualifying. Adriana Kowalski put in an absolute blinder of a lap to bank herself second on the starting grid, with a 1 minute 40.8, only 0.042 seconds off pole position. Adriana is in a great place to push for a podium spot. Anneliese Devereux also finds herself in a great place for this weekend. Only 0.056 seconds off pole position - and beaten to 4th by Cocoabo #23 (Fireline's driver last season) by only 0.001 seconds - puts Anneliese in 5th with a real chance of pushing on to a great result. With new upgrades on the car and a positive mindset, the team could be on for a good weekend. They need to be on for a good weekend to keep the ball rolling.

Abovian Grand Prix
Race

"Let's go for it," Creusa encouraged Dario over the good start he managed as all lights turned off.

The spool of the turbo and a slight screech of the Phoenician-InMotion Blackbirds on the asphalt emanated from Dario's PF-1C as Gregori Krupin pursued him doggedly. Dario was caught off-guard when the Sorlovian broke later in Turn 4 to successfully perform the overtake.

Eisborg Gran Premio di Nekoni

Seventy-five minutes in the practice session was not enough for Sara Luna to get the feel for the circuit driving Tabetha. On the start-finish straight, she commented on her steering feedback being dull, as if the AGP004 was a yacht on rough ocean. That set off panic stations for the engineers in her side of the garage to figure out the cause (it was the rear being more twitchy than Sara would have liked) and fixed it. It did the trick for her, with pole being grabbed for the first time this season. Sara could only hope that it would begin a turnaround from her so-far abysmal showing.

Phoenician Struggles in Aboveland as Tropicorp Takes Top Spot

Image

WGPC19 Supplier Performance Standings (After Week #5)
[1] - 115.5 :: Tropicorp Racing Supply
[2] - 104.5 :: Phoenician/InMotion
[3] - 48 :: WGPC Official
[4] - 1 :: HR (Deyoze / Gajamina)
It was a big weekend of action for Tropicorp Racing Supply drivers who took victory in both the Sprint and Feature Races at the Lintulahti-Toralmintii International Raceway in Lintulahti, Aboveland. While Phoenician/InMotion drivers swept the front row of the grid with Ryker Lane on pole position and R.L. Cruisin along side for the Sprint, once the race got going it was the Tropicorp Racing Supply drivers who were the big movers with Dom Falepeau improving 5 positions from the start to take their first Grand Prix victory and home-team driver iBen Toralmintii tracking every step of the way with a late charge to finish in second place. Laura Haukanna held on from her 4th place start to round out the podium and along with the Fastest Lap point earned by Janne Laukkanen, helped Phoenician/InMotion retain the lead in the overall Supplier Standings.

Their lead would only one more day however as Phoenician/InMotion would suffer their worst performance of the season in the Abovian Grand Prix Feature. Preston Autos GP driver Rudy Edwards - a pre-season championship favorite finally performed to expectations by claiming their first race victory of the season. Edwards finished well clear of the two Fireline+Heroes Eminent Grand Prix drivers who took the teams first podium placement of the season in a massive boost for the Stellenbosch Tire brand and the WGPC Official compound. Their performance was further boosted with the fastest lap point earned by Teusbank TMW Rennsport driver Heinz-Otto Junker. The WGPC Official Compound Driver's lockout of the podium following by Tropicorp Racing Supply drivers iBen Toralmnitii, Gregori Kupin and Dom Falepeau pushed Phoenician/InMotion back to a best showing of just 7th place through Laura Haukanna of GP Pryfors Bilar Viska. It was a 19 point swing at the top of the standings and more than enough for Tropicorp Racing Supply to turn an 8 point deficit to an 11 point advantage in the Supplier Performance Standings heading into the next round of competition in Nekoni.

While it was a big day for Tropicorp Racing Supply it was struggles all around for Cocoabo #23 in the WGPC Motorworks machine. After a 12th place showing in Qualifying for Fast Cocoabo coupled by a Top 3 qualifying effort for Inkling driver Daryl Mizushima, there was optimism in the WGPC Motorworks camp that points could be on the cards in the Sprint/Feature weekend in Lintulahti. Unfortunately, it was not to be. Mizushima failed to finish the Sprint race retiring after just 7 laps while Cocoabo #23 slipped back to 19th place. In the feature event, it was Fast Cocoabo whose day ended early under a tire barrier after just 21 laps of action. Mizushima fought back nicely to a 14th place run but it was not the weekend that the WGPC Motorworks team had hoped for as Fast Cocoabo and Daryl Mizushima remained the only WGPC drivers yet to earn a point through five race weekends.

Tropicorp Continue Support of LGAO in Baker Park

Drummond Vale Circuit, Baker Park, Atlantian Oceania :: The Tropicorp Engineering entries in the Atlantian Oceania Grand Prix arrived at the Drummond Vale Circuit for the Baker Park Race weekend with a fresh look livery on their #00 and #40 Tropicor-Powered AOGP machines. The race cars of Tropicorp driver Lilo Adinora and Farfadillis driver Mariano Lapartida carried a message of support for the Let's Go AO! (LGAO) campaign from the Euran Oceania Territorities in advance of the upcoming referendum on the Euran Oceania Territories Regional Alignment. In the wake of the Foxchester Event, the regional structure within Tropicorp's sphere of influence in Atlantian Oceania had been greatly adjusted, with border-sharing neighbors Krytenia whisked away to another corner of the multiverse. While Tropicoast is home to a functioning technology portal through to Tropania on the Krytenia side of the multiverse allowing continued research and the expansion into the newly established Aquacorp territories in the Aye-Aye Abyss, residents of the Euran Oceania Territories have been hotly debating their future.

Tropicorp officials have made multiple trips to the Euran Oceania Territories in support of the Let's Go AO! movement within the Euran Oceania Territories and continue their work on the proposed Atlantian Oceania - Anaia Free Trade Zone and transport passage that, if formally established would provide the Euran Oceania Territories and all of Atlantian Oceania a seamless path of transit between the Alluerisan territory in AO along the northern EOT border and the shores of Lake Bekk just south of Foxchester itself on the other side of the Portal. The proposed "Calania Landing" is made possible thanks to the after effects of the Foxchester event which Tropicorp Scientists and Engineers have been studying on both sides of the smaller existing portals in Tropicoast and the Cocoabo Forest to ensure both functionality and safety before establishing a large transportation portal between the regions.

Many believe that the completion of Calania Landing could usher in a new era of economic and political collaboration between nations in modern-day Calania some of which have seen eroded relationship since the Foxchester event put never-before experienced physical separation between the long time regionally allied entities. As two of the most directly impacted entities, Tropicorp and the Euran Oceania Territories have been at the forefront of these conversations and both are now coming towards the next chapter in their post-Foxchester evolution. Tropicorp's support of the LGAO faction within the EOT is likely to have included financial support but now goes one further on the eve of the referendum with both Tropicorp Engineering Grand Prix race cars carrying the poundtag #LetsGoAO in collaboration with the information communication service twii.tur in a final push to save the economic and environmental situation in the Euran Oceania Territories. Many on the LGAO side are concerned at the extensive cost and environmental impact to relocating an entire population particularly without the approved use of the proposed nearby portal at Calania Landing. LGAO supporters also believe that Calania Landing would enable the businesses of the Euran Oceania Territories to be uniquely positioned to benefit from the potential nearby major transportation and trade hub without having to first experience the cost and uncertainty with an upheval at the national level. Tropicorp's commitment to supporting economic and geographical growth of the Euran Oceania Territories is reflected in their support of the #LetsGoAO movement in nearby Baker Park during the AOGP Race Weekend.

Qualifying

For someone who couldn’t ever get into a good qualifying spot last season, it appeared that Dario was slowly finding his pace. He wasn’t exactly the quickest guy on track, but he wasn’t languishing near the back as often as he was last season - though the newer and faster car might have had something to do with that too. Nevertheless, another qualifying session came to an end, and Dario found himself in a relatively good spot. His engineer, Creusa, had some positive feedback for him.

”That’s P10, Dario. Just the two tenths off of P1, but there’s really not much room for variation here. Still, good job.”

“Meh, still in with a good shot for points from where we are. Where’s Krupin?”

“Krupin is 23rd, nearly 7 tenths behind you.”

“Karma! How’s Laura?”

“17th, you’re ahead of her by just under two tenths.”

“Hm. Looks like it’ll have to be something bold if we want some points tomorrow.”

“Bolder than softs and inshallah?”

“Possibly.”

The race at Aboveland had really soured Dario’s already non-existent relationship with Krupin, and he did not feel like warming up to him any time soon. He knew fine well that he would probably hear about it afterwards - and he couldn’t really care less about that. All he cared about was how he and his team were doing, and how they would try and climb the grid during the race.

Post-Qualifying Debrief

Ginintella and Creusa sat across from Dario, looking over some data from Dario’s P10 lap. Every twist, turn and braking zone was all laid out on the screen in front of them, all in a format of zig-zaggy lines on white background. Somehow, all of this meant something - not that Dario really knew. His performance knowledge came from the car itself, and squiggly lines were not what he was hired to look at.

”So, Dario,” began Creusa. ”You suggested doing something bolder than ‘Softs and Inshallah’. What could that be?”

“Oh, nothing. That was just to throw off any snoopers listening to our team radio, y’know?”

“Hah, that’s actually quite smart. So you do want to do that?”

“Of course! Just think of the merchandising potential… oh, and the potential to go higher than tenth.”

“As long as you don’t go spinning off into any walls, you should be good.”

“Hey, there weren’t any walls to spin into at Crossbay, so technically-“

“Techy-picky-uppy barriers are all the same as walls, just that they don’t rip the car to bits. Just don’t spin.”

“Got it.”

Following the debrief, Dario took to social media, just to see what was going on. Of all the things to see trending, he wasn’t expecting ‘#NÜLKESCHLÄGERMANIA’ to be anywhere up there, so he decided to look into what that was. As it turned out, some of his fans had made a song about him, and it went a little like this…

NÜLKESCHLÄGERMANIA (The Hülkenberger Equivalent of Super Max, if you will)

It’s catchy, isn’t it? Dario certainly thought so, and he shared the song on social media, just to spread it even further among his fans. It’s too catchy to forget. You should listen to it. Yes, you: the person reading this. Go listen to the song, preferably on repeat. Only then will you come to appreciate the true meaning of the song.

What are you waiting for, go and listen to it!

Autodromo Internazionale del Rivoli, Val de Rivoli, Nekoni
Leading up to the Eisborg Gran Premio di Nekoni
So much for feeling better about himself. Rudy Edwards climbed out of the PGP-02 following qualifying and stormed away from everyone to be by himself. It had been a bad day, running dead last in practice and qualifying 21st quick for the feature. Rudy had put so much pressure on himself coming into race weekend, and it was showing. He was a nervous wreck when he got in his car for practice, he couldn’t focus on the matter at hand, and he was so much slower than he should have been.

Drake Stevenson, who was working with Preston Grand Prix to help Rudy out, rushed out of the paddock and followed Rudy to where-ever he was going. He figured, at the very least, Rudy could explain what the problem was, and maybe it could help. Unfortunately, Rudy wasn’t in the mood to talk at that point. Rudy was storming back to the Preston motorhome and didn’t want to talk to anyone, even Drake, who wanted, at the very least, to figure out what was bugging him.

When Rudy stormed into the motorhome, he realized that Drake was right behind him and shrugged at him.

“What the hell, Stevenson? I didn’t ask for you to come here. Who said you could come here?” Rudy snapped.

“Something’s bothering you, Rudy. It’s been bothering you all weekend,” Drake responded calmly. “And I’d like to know what it is so we can figure it out.”

“I don’t really want to talk about it right now, Drake, fuck off!” Rudy yelled. “Let me be for right now. Now get OUT of here!”

“Rudy…”

“I SAID GET OUT!”

Drake figured that eventually, Rudy would talk and explain his issue. He just needed some time to cool off. After all, doing that badly over the course of an entire day? Rudy needed to spend some time to himself, and eventually, when he felt better, Rudy would open up and talk. So Drake stepped out and walked back to the paddock where Marty Lewis was waiting for him.

“Well?” Marty asked. “Did Rudy say what the problem was?”

“No,” Drake replied. “He doesn’t want to talk. I’ll give him some space and afterwards I’ll ask him.”

“Well, time’s of the essence,” Marty said, a little bit of frustration in his voice. “I’m not going to sit around and let him screw us over. I swear to God, if he keeps screwing us over like this…”

“Marty, Marty, settle down,” Drake interrupted. “Let me just talk to him. I’ll get with him tonight.”

“You know, I’m glad I’ve at least got one driver with a good head on his shoulders,” Marty blurted out. “I don’t have to worry about this shit with Archer.”

“I know, I know, but just… don’t…” Drake started. “Let me handle this. I think I can get to him.”

Drake walked out as Marty stared at Rudy’s car for a long time.

At least I don’t have to worry about this with Archer, Marty thought. He’ll be our guy. Long-term, this is going to be Archer’s team. I don’t have to baby-sit him.

A few hours later
Drake Stevenson sat out on the main grandstand at the track, thinking about the last time he had been here in Rivoli. He thought about the girl that he had run into at the airport and how they had known each other for so many years. How the two had, at one point, dreamed of a life together. At one point, it seemed like it was going to happen. Not all that long ago, it seemed like a certainty. But then she decided to hook up with someone else, Drake cut her out of his life and some time later, wound up with Taylor Henderson, another racing driver.

Alone with his thoughts, Drake thought about what could have been. He thought what life would have been like if he had stayed with Gabriela. And it started to make him a little melancholy, until Rudy arrived in the stands. He had heard that Drake was waiting for him and went over to talk.

“Stevenson, I feel like I owe you an apology,” Rudy started. “I was really rude to you earlier and I’m sorry.”

“None needed,” Drake responded. “You were pissed and you needed time to cool off. I’ve been there before. I think anyone who’s driven a race car has been there before, so no apology needed. You’re good.”

“I mean, I’ve put so much on myself this weekend, and I’m scared I’m going to screw up, you know?” Rudy said. “This place means a hell of a lot to us. It means a hell of a lot to me. I need to do well here, Stevenson.”

“Yeah, I got you,” Drake replied.

“And I’m not sure I can deliver,” Rudy said sadly, putting his head down.

“Really?” Drake asked. “Tell me something. How’d you do last time we were here?”

Rudy looked up at Drake and gave him a funny look.

“Uh, we won,” Rudy said haltingly. “Why?”

“And how’d you do the last time you raced?”

“Uh, we won.”

“Right, and how do you know it won’t be different this time?” Drake said. “Shit, Rudy, you went out there and kicked some ass. You can do it again. This might as well become our track, man. You won here last year, and you won the last race. Tomorrow, you go out there and you kick some ass. Shit man, you might be near the back, but hell, it’s not as if you’re 10 seconds off. You can get it done.”

“Yeah,” Rudy started.

“Rudy,” Drake continued. “Everyone has a shitty day every once in a while. That don’t make you any less than anyone else out there. But it’s how you bounce back from those shitty days. Tomorrow, that’s got to be your day, my man. Your finest hour is ahead. You’ve got to get out there and seize the moment. Just because you’re starting in the back, that doesn’t mean you’ll finish in the back. Go out there and get it.”

Eisborg Gran Premio di Nekoni, Autodromo Internazionale de Rivoli, Val de Rivoli, Nekoni :: For a time at the start of the 19th World Grand Prix Championship season it appeared that Vilitan Driver R.L. Cruisin had executed a shrewd maneuver in abandoning their seat at the Race Eelandii Vilita and Turori World Grand Prix Motorworks team and returning to Carvenlo Racing, a team they had previously driven for during the 14th World Grand Prix Championship season. After winning the opening race of the season in Liventia, however, Cruisin and the Carvenlo team have struggled to keep the pace with the Vilitan having collected just four points since the opening round and having slipped back to 9th in the overall point standings.

On the other end was iBen Toralmintii. The Turorian driver who has finished second in the Driver's Championship over the previous two World Grand Prix Championship seasons while leading the majority of the 18th season Championship until suffering a DNF in the final race of the season in Mattijana has clawed their way back to the top of the Drivers Championship after a fourth place finish in the Abovian Grand Prix at the LIntulahti-Toralmintii International Circuit in Aboveland, home to Tropicorp Racing Ælund. Toralmintii finished two places ahead of primary championship rival Dom Falepeau and now leads the Togonistan based driver by just half a point in the overall driver standings as the series leaves the comfort of Atlantian Oceania for Esportiva and the Gran Premio di Nekoni which was won by Hapilopper's Rudy Edwards one season ago. Edwards was widely expected to challenge Toralmintii for the Drivers' Championship during Season 19 but the Preston Autos team got off to a slow start - Edwards in particular, that has slowed any Championship conversations for Driver or Team. With over half the season still remaining however and Edwards having broken through with the race victory in Aboveland anything is still possible.

iBen Toralmintii will roll off the grid in the middle of the pack at the Autodromo Internazionale de Rivoli after qualifying in just 14th position - perhaps a surprise with teammate Sara Luna having earned Pole Position for the event. Toralmintii did struggle in Nekoni one season ago, having finished in 8th position and will have to fight just to equal that mark. Championship Rivals Rustom Ibuna and Dom Falepeau are also starting the race outside the points and will be just in front of Toralmintii in 11th and 12th position respectively - however just one or two positions could be the difference between Toralmintii retaining or losing the lead in the Championship Standings. Toralmintii will need to leverage neutral race weekends such as Nekoni in their championship fight as the Badai Angin Tim drivers will have the benefit of home track in the next event at the Yogyakulta Raceway in Filindostan. It is a change in venue for the Grand Prix Filindostan that likely harms Toralmintii who was the winner of last seasons Grand Prix Filindostan Cepat at the San Marco Street Circuit but will have to start from scratch at Yogyakulta in the battle to keep pace with the two drivers of the seasons best performing on track ride.

During the mid-season off-week Toralmintii competed in the 4th round of the iRoS Race of Stars competition which was held at the Vankkavalta Nøperasinkring alongside the World Grand Prix 2 Race weekend. Local Hero Terho Talvela won the race which took place in light rain conditions. Toralmintii was involved in a tight battle for second place with Stacie Houston and Anastasia Freya Yadana Aye from the NSSCRA Circuit as well as former WGPC Champion Ryker Lane. The Turorian would ultimately lose out to all of them and cross the line in 5th place. Heading into the final round, Toralmintii is 4th in the overall standings 14 points behind Stacie Houston - meaning that Toralmintii will have to place in the Top 2 of the final round to have a chance at the iRoS title. The battle for the championship is likely to come down to Houston or the Champions of the NSSCRA / WGPC with Terho Talvela two points behind Houston and the Valentian just a further four points back within range of the championship. After the completion of the iRoS event Toralmintii headed out to the Fjellutfordring in Aboveland - a track which they earned a Race victory during WGPC Season 18 and set the fastest time in the mid-season open test session for the WGPC teams, giving both driver and team a confidence boost that despite not showing the dominant form that they have in recent WGPC seasons, they could still compete for the top spot on the podium in the second half of the campaign.

Pre-Race

"Vladimir, everything good to go?" Anola couldn't help but sound stressed as she spoke to her race engineer. They had somehow Qualified in third place, and this would be the best chance that they'd had in ages to get some points in this WGPC season.

"The car is ready to go, are you?" retorted Vladimir, looking at his driver with concern. She had been in her head more often than not this season, and it was going to be paramount that she stay as calm as possible and as focused as she could in the race to come.

"Yes? Yes." Anola stated, mostly to herself. This was what she was here to do, and she wouldn't forgive herself if she let this opportunity go by. No, it was time to make things right.

"I'm ready, Vladimir," she said again, this time more sure, "Let's go get this done."

Eisborg Gran Premio di Nekoni (pre-race)

With the two Badai Angin cars of Rustom Ibuna and Dom Falepeau inseparable in both practice and qualifying timesheets, Tauro Volante was asked by a flurry of media outlets on how the team will handle a potential clash between the two at the track:

Q: With Ibuna and Falepeau starting side on side on the sixth row, is there any team orders you have in ploy during the race?
TV: Let them race for now, they are matured individuals already and are supposed to know their limitations. I say I am allowing this is we have a buffer in the constructors' after the race in Aboveland. I would have said there will be some if say we only had a single-digit advantage over Preston and TRAE, but they know that we are also in contention for the constructors' and having both cars DNF would might be a big blow to our aspirations.

Q: Badai Angin's home race is next, any thoughts on it?
TV: I'd focus on this race here first, we actually have no plans for one-off liveries this season but there might be a "collaboration" in Rusty Ibuna's overalls at that race due to him losing a bet against the guys at Good Motor Oil.

WGPC 19 :: Round 6 : Race (Nekoni)

Gran Premio di Nekoni
Post-Qualifying

"Agh.. sorry guys, that was a disaster on my part." Laura said in a dejected tone after qualifying P17, near the bottom. She decided to stay at the garage for a bit with Erik before debriefing starts.

"No worries Laura, we'll try our best tomorrow from P17."

"Now.. where did Dario qualify?"

"Up at P10, he did a pretty good job."

"Thank goodness. At least we still have a chance."

"It's a surprise that you're not in form this weekend, what happened? Is it one of those times?"

"It's not. I have no clue what's happening."

"Maybe it's one of those times that you are unlucky, many of us had moments like that. It's just one of those times you know? Maybe you need another good luck charm apart form Aina. I'm sure you've exhausted it so much so find another one."

"Another one.. where would I find one."

"You should answer that yourself. Now let's go, debriefing is about to begin."

"Alright, wait for me."

Another one..? Who or what it might be..

Autodromo Internazionale de Rivoli, Nekoni
Gran Premio di Nekoni
Pre-Race

Disappointment from qualifying is still felt by Laura the day after, but she still attempts to remain optimistic about the race. She never felt unusually out of form before, it's not like her. Flooded with thoughts about it, she wants to clear those up before the race and there's no better way than with her teammate, surprisingly. Before they head out on track, Laura heads over to Dario's side of the garage to look for him. She never actually talked to Dario a lot although they have interacted before. Well, it's just Laura being an Aurun.

Looking around, she finally sees her teammate just chilling out in the garage before heading out. She approaches Dario then she immediately speaks up after getting close to not waste much of their time before they get in their cars.

"Looks like you're leading this time." Laura says while patting Dario's back. "We don't have much time so I'll make it quick. I know it'll be difficult but get those points for us. Giving it our all at the race, as always but you have a better chance of nailing some points today. I'll be rooting for you so good luck. Also, let's hang out after the race!" She excitedly says, trying to stay optimistic. After a friendly tap on Dario's shoulder, Laura then heads over to Erik, following him onto the grid.

"What did you do there?"

"I actually thought I had no chance but then it was a sudden thing, seeing my teammate gave me a boost in motivation."

"That's what I like to hear, let yesterday be yesterday and let's focus on what we're up to now."

"Heh, yeah."

Race
Talented drivers surround her on the grid, she doesn't mind it every bit. From the series at home and here in WGPC, it has always been like that but she usually handles it pretty well. Starting at P17, she has a lot of work to do to make up ground between her and points.

At the start, where she usually fumbles a bit, she managed to nail it this time. Launching past Heinz-Otto Junker only to get blocked by Kinu Luminna. Narrowly avoiding a collision with the Viska, she gets past the first corner unscathed. Progress seemingly halted after that but it was still at the beginning of the race, there's still more to come.

"Luminna's closing in, he's 1.2 behind. Watch out for him."

"Copy."

Kinu's a difficult one to fight against, he's not afraid of taking risks. A tough defender and forceful on the attack. This is going to be fun.

The second lap starts and Kinu attempts a big dive down the inside from about a second behind just to close the gap, he locked up a bit but manages to save his entry but it was still compromised as Laura moved over slightly to block Kinu. He eventually fell back a bit but would later catch up again. Laura continues her defence against the charging Kinu. After learning from the best, elbows are out and she's not letting him pass. That is until she reached her limits and ran wide at the final turn at Lap 6, spinning the wheels at the exit kerb, losing a position to Kinu. But the race isn't over yet.

She stays out of trouble for most of the time to reach her pit window without much issue. With heavily worn mediums, she pits a couple of laps for hards after Dario pitted. The stop was going smoothly until both front wheels won't tighten. The mechanics attempt to resolve the issue and they managed to finally tighten both and Laura was then sent out.

"What happened there?"

"Wheel gun issues for both the front-left and right as I've been told. Fortunately it didn't happen to Dario."

"He's our only hope for points, I'll try to recover my race."

"You're not going to race anyone on exit. You can go on Mode 5 if you wish."

"Copy."

Exiting the pits at P16, Laura figured that there's not a chance for her to rack up some points, she'll just get as close as possible to the points-paying position in hopes for something to happen. She struggled as she tries to salvage her race from the depths. A few laps pass with nothing happening to Laura until in Lap 38. After pushing as much as she can, gaining a few more places with daring moves on her competitors, she suddenly got a puncture on her front-left somewhere at the third sector after a heavy lockup. She was virtually dead last at that moment. When one unfortunate incident wasn't enough.

"Oyai, vittu! Puncture, puncture."

"Box Laura, box box. Easy on the way to the pits. Watch out for traffic."

"Sorry guys, I was overworked the tyres I guess."

"Save it for later Laura."

"Right, er.. I think the front wing is damaged as well. I saw sparks flying."

"Copy that, we'll get you a new front wing."

"This is just unfortunate but this race isn't over yet, I'll try to gain as much positions as I can for the rest of the race. Get me on softs and I'll do everything I can."

"Heh, that's the spirit. You have plenty of time."

Sorry Aina, we couldn't do much, but let's try to fight back.

Laura limps her damaged car back to the pits for a change of tyres and front wing. Fortunately, there were no issues with her final stop of the race. She was quickly released and on her way to reclaim a few positions before the end of the race. The injured hawk can still soar past her opponents. Exiting the pits last of the running group, she only had one goal in mind as there were no other way to go but to finish.

"Easy on the tyres this time."

"Got it."

"Mode 4 and claw your way back up."

Lap after lap, she fights her way through her fellow lapped drivers. While no points are at stake, she was up against intense defences from which she attempts to get past. It was a difficult final few laps and by the time the chequered flag is waved, she crosses the finish at P17. Her race started and ended at 17th. She did all she could and at the cooldown lap, she was praised by Erik just to comfort her. She wouldn't respond for a while.

...

"I'm exhausted..."

"You did your best. That's P17."

"Where did Dario finish?"

"He finished at P8 and brought home 4 points."

"That's all we got for today? Heh, I don't mind it. We'll have our day soon."

After settling her PF-1C down at parc fermé, Laura partially gets out of her car, slumping over the halo, taking a few breaths before getting off. That was tough. She thought to herself. Regaining her composure, she looks around before heading towards Dario to at least congratulate him for the points haul. It wasn't much but points are points.

Before heading off to cooldown at the garage, she quickly tells Dario something after congratulation him. "You got the points and finished ahead, it's my treat then." She gives a small chuckle before asking. "So, what do you want to do?"

WGPC Pt11: The Fightback Produces...Eh?

Postby TJUN-ia » Sun Nov 21, 2021 2:28 pm

WGPC19
Round 6
Eisborg Gran Premio di Nekoni
Autodromo Internazionale de Rivoli, Val de Rivoli, Nekoni

He hoped this track would give him something but instead, that didn't really happen. Lane Carter had some sort of fond memory of the Autodromo Internazionale de Rivoli here in Nekoni as it was here that the 2nd half of last season, and the fightback he pulled off that got him into the Top 10 by season's end, got underway. That seemed like a while ago now, especially since HE got busy all of a sudden. It was crazy to him how slowly time could pass without him to talk to and he didn't know if that would affect his feelings...until this week, that is.

Friday was a good start for the guys at Race Eelandii as they certainly rushed to get used to this track all over again. This track was known as a fast-sweeper and if you found the right line, you could become unstoppable on any given day. The Badai Agins were the class of the field today and Falepeau led Ibuna in a 1-2 but iBen and Lane were the next 2 up with Krupin not far behind in 8th and Mizushima in 9th. Qualifying was Traditional but the session was anything but as the order established on Friday was smashed to pieces on Saturday. Sara Luna took pole over Adriana Kowalski and Anola "Wrench" Melani, an all-female Top 3 which Lane thought was pretty rare, with Cocoabo #23 taking a surprise 4th. Lane Carter struggled in 19th while Krupin and Mizushima made up the back row...a disaster for everyone Lane considered in his circle.

The race itself was also dry but nothing came of that either, with Lane, Krupin and Mizu all getting lapped to end up in 16th, 19th and 22nd respectively...not a good weekend at all. Kowalski won her first-ever race over Luna and Olivia Stone, an all-female podium to truly make this weekend a spectacle of women's sport, with #23's P4 meaning that WGPC Motorworks got 12 more points to add to the 1 they already had. Ted Pressley, Falepeau (w/ FL), Anneliese Devereux (#7 in P7), Dario Nülkeschläger, William Archer and the Wrench completed the Top 10 meaning that Lane had to face some truths. While he was still in the Top 10, both he and Gergori were in freefall. As was his team in the Constructors, down to 6th now. And now, only Mizu was yet to score a point. He wished he was there for him, to try and tell him that he would join them all in the end...but he knew he wouldn't get a response...and that saddened him to his core.

As he prepared to return to Yogyakulta for Round 7 in Filindostan, Lane thought back to the events at The Lost Anchor Bar in Portside when he and Krupin celebrated Lane's success with a round or two. They chatted long into the night but when things were quieting down, Lane brought up The Dreams and invited his teammate to "take a peek and see what has been troubling me for some time now". He could still remember the face he pulled when he looked at the words Lane wrote, a face that looked as if he didn't expect that from a guy like Lane Carter. To be honest, Lane was surprised as well...

:: twii.tur

twii.tur is a short message communication service based in Turori allowing users to exchange content of 140 characters or less. The service originated as a way to allow officials to receive alerts and key information such as incoming weather notifications, major events and the ability to stay coordinated during a time of crisis but was under-utilized and doubts were raised as to whether the overhead of the infrastructure was worthwhile to maintain.

As capabilities of interconnected and handheld communication devices improved, the Turorian Weather & Information Interchange (Twii) was adapted into a public facing service where users could sign up to create their own twii nodes where users would sign up to a twii group to receive all the twii messages delivered by members of that group.

Ultimately, as demand grew, a fully public release of twii came at the connected location twii.tur where all users can participate in the public twii, selecting which messages to receive by adding individual users, groups or topics to their twii.tur feed.

Twii.tur is one of the most well recognized names both on an off the track and return as a major sponsor for the Race Eelandii VTGP team. After being the primary sponsor for Lane Carter during WGPC Season 18, the twii.tur machine will be driven by Gregori Kupin for WGPC Season 19 while remaining an association on Lane Carter's #11.

:: CoCoCo Entities

Stood up after the fall of the reign of Lord Gregory, Turorian company CoCoCo established a footprint inside South Covello and established itself as a primary supplier of core goods and services. Internally the goods were used to provide essential raw materials and goods to Turorian shops such as Cocoa-bo that had opened a presence in country. Soon after, however, central public distribution locations were also established.

One of the most prominent is Coco-mart, the big box store primarily found in South Covello. Coco-marts were sood up throughout South Covello to serve as an interface between CoCoCo and the public offering excess goods to the citizens of South Covello and somewhat reasonable prices compared with what it would have taken for a citizen to acquire similar goods during the reign of Lord Gregory.

The CoCoCo have established themselves on a collection of Islands off the coast of South Covello where raw goods are imported, sorted and redistributed to the mainland. Other major public-facing CoCoCo entities stood up in South Covello include Cocogas and CoCoLectric.

Welcome to Filindostan!
Maligayang pagdating sa Pilindostan! | Selamat datang di Pilindostan!

Welcome to Filindostan, a four-island archipelago located around Central Esportiva. Its capital and largest city is San Marco, located in the Kabishawan Island. For more information about the country and its geography, culture, and sports, please refer to this link.

Pelita Raya (pe-li-ta ra-ya) is the westernmost island in Filindostan and is comprised of three component cities, and three fifth class municipalities. The so-called Tri-Cities are located in this island - Bandarito, Bandariyan, and Bandaroon (ban-da-ro-on). The other towns in the island are West Rava, Gurunsing, and Yogyakulta. Like Kabunuklan, the island is full of trees and lush forests along Bandaroon and most of its towns. Despite lagging behind Kabishawan and Tanjung Pagi in terms of economy and tourism, the Island prides itself with the fishing industry, particularly in the outskirts of Bandaroon, West Rava and Yogyakulta.

Many seafood restaurants are located here, testament of the fishing industry the island has. In Bandarito alone, there are tens of known 'dampa' (OOC: place where you can pick live fish and cook them with your desired meals), which may be covered in an upcoming article. Cost of living is much lower compared to the other two islands, but the quality of accommodations is inferior to the two islands but superior to Kabunuklan, which is considered to be the most remote of the four.

Yogyakulta (pronounced as JOH-jah-kul-tah), officially known as Kota Otonomo Yogyakulta (or Koytog for short) is the first autonomous city of Filindostan. With a national decree signed on 90005 to make the then-town of Yogyakulta an autonomous city to address the increasing industrialization of the area known for its fishing. It has slowly become a motorsports mecca, with the Yogyakulta International Circuit and the Yoggy Oval being built in three years to cater for the motorsport industry where people used to held illegal street races.

The goverment recently built an international airport in the city, reducing travel time to the city compared to landing on either San Marco or Bandaroon from 45 minutes to three hours, to just ten minutes.

More information such as national laws and guidelines can be downloaded at the official Yogyakulta site: www-dot-kotyogyakulta-dot-gov-dot-fid.

Places to visit in Filindostan

There are two islands to visit in Filindostan - the beaches at the Heritage City of Jakulta in Tanjung Pagi Island, and the fish stalls/dampas at Bandarito in Pelita Raya Island. Jakulta is known as the surfing and heritage capital of Filindostan, so people wanting to ride the waves may visit the beaches at the northern part of Tanjung Pagi. If you want to catch fish as well as to pick and decide how to cook your fish of choice, then the Pelita Raya Island is the best place to visit, with many of these located in the eastern portion of Bandarito, and the northern portion of Yogyakulta.

There is currently a travel advisory to avoid visiting Kabunuklan Island at the moment, as there are currently intelligence reports of an insurgent group planning to take over the island in the coming weeks.

The Yogyakulta International Circuit

Image

Yogyakulta International Circuit is a permanent racing facility located in Yogyakulta, Pelita Raya, Filindostan. Owned by the local petroleum giant Petrofilindo, the 5.961 km circuit is a mixture of straights and bends that will put the engines of the racing cars to their test, and narrow corners that drivers must negotiate without making too much mistakes. The track itself is challenging - lots of gravel traps to alert the drivers from going too fast and shortage of run-off areas, which can punish drivers who are too aggresive. The width of the circuit is narrower than usual, making the circuit a little bit difficult to make overtakes.

The start/finish straight is a downhill with a 35 degree left turn, with full throttle going to the Kotyog Complex, which starts going uphill with a small degree turn 4, with foot on the throttle up to the first of the two Nordus Bends, then going full throttle going to the tightest corner of the circuit, The Hairpin. A series of downhill turns from Turn 7 to Turn 1 plus 1 (11) completes the second sector. From the second Nordus Bend, the track goes gradually uphill until the Unlucky Turn, which elevates steeply going to a flat Turn 14 and going abruptly downhill in the Petrofilindo Complex.

Another steep uphill curve, the Yoggy Bend, sends the cars to the start/finish straight. The track hosted a round of the WGPC during the 17th season where Terho Talvela won a controversy-filled race. Yogyakulta is in a contract with San Marco Street Circuit to rotate the WGPC and WGP2 events between them.

There are two DRS zones at the track, one at the start/finish straight, and another at the straight from the Nordus Bend leading to the Hairpin.

The Grand Prix Filindostan Cepat

This is the third running of the Grand Prix Filindostan, and the final year of sponsorship from Cepat. The race will be held in the Yogyakulta International Circuit, taking the reins from San Marco Street Circuit as part of their hosting rotation. Yogyakulta International Circuit hosted the first running of the event as the seventh round in the 17th WGPC season. Tropicorp Racing Aelund's Terho Talvela won the race despite a controversy during the pitstops where a traffic jam involving his teammate iBen Toralmintii among others helped his chances for a win that time.

The Filindostani Motorsports Group has decided to alternate the two venues for the next ten seasons of the WGPC. Cepat, Petrofilindo's brand of motor and performance oils and fuels, will be the sponsor of the event, the second of a three-season contract. Last season, it was TRAE teammate iBen Toralmintii that won the race from Preston driver Rudy Edwards.

The Championship Picture

Going into the seventh track officially hosting a points-scoring race in the championship, Badai Angin Tim Motorsport leads the constructors' championship by 39.5 points over the reigning WGPC constructors' champion, Tropicorp Racing Aelund, with them able to cut the gap from the last race in Nekoni. However, those points came from their second driver, Sara Luna, and thus, with Togonistani driver Dom Falepeau consistently scoring championship points with every round of the championship so far, he leads the drivers' championship over Turori's iBen Toralmintii by 8.5 points, with Falepeau's teammate and home crowd favorite Rustom Ibuna a further 10 points behind.

On -track schedule

Thursday will see the drivers having a media day and track inspection, before the WGP3 Filindostan drivers take the track for their practice session, then the WGP3 Esportiva series takes centerstage with their practice session. Friday morning will see the qualifying sessions for both WGP3 sessions with the afternoon session being the practice session for the WGPC category, and will be culminated with the WGP3 Filindostan Race 1. Saturday morning sees the Race 2 of the domestic series, while the first race of the regional series will follow the two-tier qualifying session for WGPC machines.

Before the sponsor event, the culminating races of the two WGP3 series will be done on Sunday morning, prior to the main race in the afternoon.

Miscellaneous Events
Media Day: Filindostani media have prepared a list of questions for the WGPC drivers:
Badai Angin Sponsor event and Exhibit: Outside the Yoggy Oval, there will be an exhibit by the Badai Angin Tim Motorsport where various cars will be displayed, such as the WGPC cars driven by Mattijanan driver Alex Dimitrianov during WGPC 17 and 18, as well as the #00 car by Fiona Sunarya which she drove last season to a win in the TJUN 600. Other cars that will be displayed are the cars raced in the Formula Hodori as well as the Hodoran GT championship, and race winning cars from Everlong Series for the three Rusty Motorsport drivers this season.

The Team will be in the sponsor event at 10 AM local time to make several announcements regarding their motorsport fans as well as draw a Badai Angin Kecepatan K8 hatchback and coupe for lucky attendees.

Descension Girls Will Code Hackathon: Descension Girls Will Code Hackathon is a 48-hour event where groups of coders will design and develop an application to meet various needs depending on the organizers' theme. This event requires an all-girl group to participate. Non-binaries who identify themselves as female can also participate in the event. The hackathon event will be held in Descension's newly opened Yogyakulta Delivery Office near the Yoggy Oval starting at Wednesday night at the same hour the Everlong race will start on Friday, and will end once the chequered flag drops at the DGWC 350. The winners of the event will be announced in the sponsor event on Saturday morning, and the winners will get free tickets to watch the Multiversal Series' night race later that evening, among other prizes such as mobile phones and tablets from Telebuenas MotoMo'To!. Participants of the hackathon will get to have the Everlong race played live on the TV sets in pantries to be able to track whether the time is up or not.

International participants can visit Descension's website to register and to get more information.

Kaylan broke their pointless streak in Nekoni!

Image
Ted Pressley finished 5th in Gran Premio di Nekoni.

After showing decent pace during the mid-season test at Fjellutfordring, Kaylan Racing Team drivers Anola Melani and Ted Pressley made a strong start to the weekend in Nekoni. Yesterday's qualifying session saw Melani putting down a fantastic lap of 01:40.841, which secured the Chromatik driver a start from the second row on the grid, behind TRÆ driver Sara Luna and Adriana Kowalski from Eminent GP. With other Kaylan driver Ted Pressley ending up P9, the result was Kaylan's best WGPC qualifying session to date.

Showing great pace throughout the weekend, Kowalski took an early lead in the race and secured herself a strong victory ahead of Sara Luna. Meanwhile, despite a strong start to the race, Melani suffered an unfortunate accident during lap 34, when the Chromatik suffered a tyre puncture after hitting a kerb in turn 5, causing her to make an unscheduled pit stop and drop down in the order, putting the Kaylan driver in a difficult situation. In the end, Melani finished P10, bringing a championship point for herself and the team. Meanwhile, her teammate Pressley put down a spectacular drive, with the Tumbran going from P9 to P5, finishing ahead of Badai Angin driver Dom Falepeau. ''That result is what we needed here. It gives us confidence that we have been working in the right direction and we believe Kaylan can put down a couple more good performances like that during the rest of the season,'' Kaylan team principal Xander Mahakipare commented on the result after the race, pleased with the result after Kaylan's rough season so far.

While Kaylan's last result has put the team past their TMW rivals to 10th in constructors standings, there is still a long season ahead for the Togonistani outfit to attempt solidify (and improve) their spot. Meanwhile, things have been heating up on top of the drivers championship recently. After the qualifying session in Nekoni put Badai Angin drivers Rustom Ibuna and Dom Falepeau to 11th and 12th on the starting grid, a result which was way lower than expected from the current constructors championship leaders, Falepeau managed to find his pace during the race. With a mixture of smart team strategy combined by the Togonistani driver's confident driving, Falepeau managed to push himself through the grid, eventually finishing 6th as well as securing himself the fastest lap point. With iBen Toralmintii and Falepeau's teammate Rustom Ibuna finishing outside of points, the Togonistani has once again taken lead in the drivers championship with 8.5 points ahead of TRÆ driver Toralmintii. As it stands, Falepeau is now the only driver this season to have finished all his races in points so far, including the sprint qualifying event in Eelandii as well as sprint race win in Lintulahti. With five rounds left in the season, fans are surely excited to see if Falepeau can keep up with his consistent performances throughout weekends.

Can Falepeau keep up his fight for the title? Can Kaylan carry their recent performance to the next round and climb up the standings? We will see as WGPC moves to Filindostan next. Ultrasports 1 will broadcast the full race weekend at Yogyakulta International Circuit live and Tgsports will keep providing you with all the latest up to date information regarding the series.

Nekoni

The heat of the afternoon wafted into the Kaylan garage, as Ted idly waited in the garage for the car to be readied for practice. It wasn't the best car — the previous few weeks made it clear, with the team figuring about in the lower reaches of the finishers, let alone the championship — they hadn't scored points since that double 8th place in the opening rounds of the championship, and since then it'd been a frustrating time for everyone involved. Ted had held back his frustrations with the car, but it was evident neither him nor Anola were really happy with the car. Either everyone had been sandbagging at the start of the season or they'd just outdeveloped Kaylan over the half-season.

Somehow, he wished he was back in Aboveland. His heart, however, began pumping quicker, his mind curling at the thought of what had gone on there. He wasn't sure how, or what, to feel about what'd gone on in Avsidesliggendevuoret; but what had happened was happened. And ignoring what had happened at the end...

No. Whatever happened at the end had to be taken along with what happened before. For the first time, he felt like he had someone on the grid who wasn't Anola or anyone from Kaylan; opportunities to interact with people from the grid had been far and few between. Everyone was busy; everyone really only cared about themselves or their own friends. It was tough to get into a new group; which was why Kaylan — who had almost become like a family to him — was so near and dear to him.

"Okay, so we're going to go with a bit more angle on the front wing..."

Until Avsidel-Avisde-Avsivuoret. Avsi Town. He'd spoken to Xander, entered himself into the Test Driver race to get himself some extra miles in the machine, believing it'd do him good — and it did. The car, somehow, flew; maybe it just worked better in cold air. Or maybe he just worked better in cold air. And he ended up finishing P2; a mere three seconds behind the talent himself whom he'd fallen on in Liventia.

Janne Laukkanen.

The two of them celebrated on the podium, of course, but they didn't really speak too much; the Tumbran was much too shy to initiate contact, and furthermore it was bloody cold on the podium. He wished he'd said something, anything; but the moment passed itself, and soon they were away from each other again.

And soon, their time in Aboveland was about to end; but before that, he wanted to try out the sauna. It was always something he wanted to try, having read all about the supposed health benefits; but what put him off earlier, surprisingly, was the fear that he'd burn his bum. Ah well. He'd only be young once; why not try it out? Scrolling through one of the few websites that offered travel advice for Avsidesliggendevuoret, he'd settled on one that was nice and quiet; relatively out of the way. Four star rating, wasn't that crowded at this hour; perfect.

He'd bagged himself a private room, with enough space for maybe four or five people; the staff had warned him that although he might be the first one in the sauna, if others arrive they could tell them to enter his room. For economic purposes, of course. After a brief explanation on how to keep the room warm, they'd left him to his own devices. He'd caught one of the staff — a young, blonde woman in her mid-20s, making eyes at him; though Ted didn't really know what to do. He didn't want to cause inconvenience by possibly telling anyone, anyway.

"You're going to need to carry more speed through turns 14 till 16..."

A brief nod escaped as the events of the night replayed through his mind. He kept the towel on his lap; a bit self-conscious of whether anyone would come running in. That same young woman who'd led him to the room had told him nobody really came in at that time; so surely he could remove it, right...?

After debating with himself for a while, he ended up doing it; and it actually felt better after removing the towel, which was by now sopping wet, from his sweating self. It felt...good to unwind. Let it all go. Forget all about the disappointing results from the season so far, unwind, let the heat seep over him, the sweat leaving his body and dripping down his arms. He stayed like that for a while, only pouring more water over the stones to create a bit more steam.

He almost hadn't noticed the door creaking open. Was it the staff member from earlier? He grabbed his towel and shifted it over his nether regions to avoid the embarrassment of being noticed. But it wasn't the staff member who'd made eyes at him; it wasn't a woman at all. A familiar mop of blond hair, towel draped around his waist, exposing his tanned, toned body entered the room; and just like in Liventia, Ted's heart began beating quicker and quicker.

"...more downforce, I think, would be preferable; able to cling round the hairpins, which will be useful if we find ourselves high up the order. Keyword being if..."

Hah. Typical Kaylan self-deprecation. It'd become a way for his side of the garage to deal with the shit hand of cards they'd been dealt throughout the season.

It wasn't until the man sat down directly opposite him — doing Ted the courtesy of pouring more water on the stones, with the handiwork of someone who'd been here hundreds, if not thousands of times — that he finally realised why his heart had leapt like that.

It was Janne Laukkanen.

His eyes were fixated on the young Abovian as he ruffled his hair, pulling it back, before sitting down; at least he did Ted the courtesy of not removing his towel. Janne sat down; and began talking.

"Sorry. Hope I didn't give you too much of a shock."

Ted couldn't do much except shake his head. Something akin to a "not really" tried to leave his mouth, but felt and sounded more like "mmmmfmnfngl gurbugrlgl," the way he couldn't string two words together.

"...Yeah, sorry."

Ted sat up straight, trying to find the correct words. "How'd you find me?"

"Pffft. Look at you. This was the only sauna open at this hour, and the Nexus people aren't too far away. Plus, I wanted to get away from them before I reunited with Carvenlo."

"If this is the only one open at this hour..."

"Saunas are like...a national institution here. Pretty much everyone has one."

"...makes sense."

"You chose well. This is a diamond in the rough."

"Thanks, I guess..."

"...Thankfully we set up the gear ratios in such a way that we're able to get to top speed quickly. Shift up early, and we can save about a tenth on the straight..."

"So you've never had a girlfriend before?"

"No, not really. No time, plus I had clubs to fall back on. Pity I didn't get to go to many of those before I got swept up in...this." They'd started out by talking about racing, their past together; so naturally they'd ended up talking about life before racing. It was still weird, however; a competitor, a direct rival of his, sitting opposite him, talking like nobody's business. Maybe it'd been his dad's upbringing, never really interacting with others on the grid, that had led him to this apprehension; either way, this sensation was new, and it wasn't something he wasn't totally against, even if it did feel weird. "And you?"

"Nope."

"Huh. Someone like you..."

"Someone like me? Yeah, never wanted for one."

"...hopefully the boffins back in Tushlark can finally help our damn problems with aerodynamics...God knows that if we could carry more speed through the corners..."

Time'd passed, and Janne had sidled up next to Ted. They were close, but still not too close; but as he'd gotten closer he didn't know whether Janne could hear his heart beating in his chest like a gong. Becuase that's what it sounded like to him, as he stared straight on into the distance, trying to avoid eye contact with Janne.

"Sorry...sorry to hear about your dad. Must be lonely."

"I've got family with Kaylan...they're more than enough. For now."

"You know...I'll be here for you, as well."

A hand on his thigh.

A sopping wet towel.

"Ted? Ted? You alright? You look like you've had the life sucked out of you, the way you're staring off into the distance. You there, mate?"

(OOC: A Nekoni RP will come out AFTER this - my time management skills have been mince and they don’t look to be getting any better)

Some drivers like to spend their time between races resting, doing something useful with their lives, or constantly training to become a better driver. Not Dario, though. The young Hülkenberger enjoys to show off his sense of fashion (also known by many as “drip”) whenever he can, simply because he can. While some may shrug this off as somewhat narcissistic, Dario is no narcissist - he just has drip, and he would like to show the world that he has drip. Being both the hottest and drippiest driver on the grid is no mean feat, after all.

Image

Dario. Certified Dripmeister.

(If any driver wishes to challenge Dario’s Dripmeister status, you can do so. Will you succeed, though? You gotta have drip. The hottest status is insurmountable, though. I mean, just look at him!)
