Challengers Cup: Old City Stadium, Iturributa (72,000)
Located in the ‘Old City’ area of Iturributa, Old City Stadium is one of Astograth’s most legendary venues. Grand Duke’s Stadium may have the status, Ximun Orieta and the Ituraitz Sporting Ground may have the years, but Old City has the romance. Established more than 160 years ago and almost completely rebuilt several times over, the ground is jointly owned by rival clubs Iturributa United and Sporting Iturributa, who at least twice a year play out the biggest derby in the Astograthian First Division. Its pitch has seen countless trophies won and lost, and often been graced by some of the biggest stars in world football – especially when the two Iturributas competed in the upper echelons of UICA competition. When the Iturributa national football team was active, between World Cups 60 and 66, Old City Stadium also acted as its home venue. The stadium’s structure is not fancy – a steep-sided concrete bowl – but its innards are set to be duly renovated to the highest of IFCF standards. Internationally, Old City Stadium has previously hosted the final of the 18th Cup Winners’ Cup, which Fontvielle Impact won 2–1 in extra time against East Franz Athletic; three finals of the Rushmori Copa de Campeones, including Iturributa United’s 0–1 loss to FC1. Surtsey Island Gulls; and multiple matches at two Copas Rushmori and the 48th Baptism of Fire.
Cup Winners’ Cup: Grand Duke’s Stadium, Rumiatzi (90,000)
Located on the eastern side of the capital, Grand Duke’s Stadium is the home of Astograthian sport. The largest stadium in the country, in association football it serves as the home ground of the Astograthian national team and annually hosts the finals of the Royal Cup, the Second Division promotion playoffs, and the Second Division B championship. Grand Duke’s Stadium features state-of-the-art facilities, full roofing over all seats, and retractable seating mounted over its blue-tinted athletics track. The ground has previously hosted the final of World Cup 62, in which The Holy Empire defeated Bears Armed 3–0; the final of the 8th Copa Rushmori, in which Polar Islandstates beat Western Cuba 2–0; the final of the 45th UICA Champions’ Cup, in which Turoki Tide defeated Raynor City United 1–0; and the finals of two Rushmori Copas de Campeones, including Liria Prizren of Mytanija’s 3–2 victory over Astograthian side Ituraitz FC.
